Always wanted to ask, how does each Eddie's house/apartment look like; where do you envision each of them living?
dom!eddie i picture living in a trailer sorta similar to wayne's. less stuff if that makes sense, since he hasn't lived there as long??? very boy decorated. mismatch, hand-me-down furniture. he tries to make it homey and tapes pictures of you and him on the wall lol. no frame, just packing tape and it's sweet and a little funny. quilts on the bed he got from wayne, posters in his room- maybe the living room. not a throw pillow in sight until you move in lol. probably like one plate, one fork, one spoon, one knife type vibe lol. very boy coded.
janitor!eddie i picture the same vibe as before (i'll call dom!eddie the default) until he moves in with you. i think it would be a small home. two bedrooms (technically three if you count the small 'office' space that you turned into a room). no garage, but he built a covering for you. it's very homey. he built shelves in the living room for all your books (i fuckin' lost the book blurb if anyone has it lol). lots of pictures on the wall, over the mantle. really just a very homey cozy vibe, and i'll leave how that looks up to you :)
older!eddie also has a house. it's not huge by any means, bigger than average. like a one story, three or four bedroom, two and a half bath kinda vibe. he got it after the divorce and he could afford it. he wanted brielle to have her own space and have some extra room for the hopeful future, and he's glad he did. probably very bare minimum as well before you moved in. like a nicer couch- no throw pillows, maybe one throw brielle bought at target, like one of those cheap ones from the $5 section lol. pictures of brielle in frames, but that's the only decor. not even a doormat. two flat ass pillows on the bed, but in nice sheets. a toothbrush holder, hand soap, and no towel on the bathroom. has a music room with his guitar and stuff, garage full of tools to do oil changes and stuff if he needs to. one half broken plastic laundry basket, and candles brielle brings home from bath and body works lol. please tell me you're getting the vibe lol.
mafia!eddie is a 180 entirely. ENTIRELY. mansion. he built it so it's new, but he wanted it to look gothic and ominous as fuck. like very unapproachable. dark exterior, steel gates at the front of the property. he bought land out in the middle of the woods in hawkins, off the beaten path for sure so you wouldn't see the entrance unless you were looking for it type? lots of dark red oriental carpets, red sheets, mahogany wood, chandeliers that are kinda dramatic and dark. all the furniture looks victorian but dark. i think it's mentioned in curiosity killed the cat that he was going for a vibe that was "a mix between dracula and the godfather" lol. large book shelves, candle opera lighting, dark grand stair well, bear skin rug (with the head bc he thought it looked sick). large, tall windows but all the glass is one way glass so it looks even freakier from the outside. very gothic victorian chic.
rockstar!eddie ok so pre-kids- he had a home in malibu, a penthouse in la. owns a couple different properties bc why not. he hired someone to decorate, but really it's like he put weird shit in there lol. like very rockstar- bachelor pad coded. like there's a fifty thousand dollar imported couch... next to light sabers on the wall that he won at a bidding bc they were used in a movie. bedroom is very... interesting lol. def has a waterbed in at least one room. has a bed post with clips for his... activities lol. probably a hook for a sex swing too. then a whole music memorabilia type room. plaques, his achievements, but also things he's collected.
tamed rockstar!eddie with kids- he lets nb decorate mainly but he also adds a few things. he designs the sex dungeon and it does in fact look like a dungeon. dramatic ass lighting, literal chain cuffs on the wall, a bed that with thick posts, mirror on the ceiling, a whole wall of toys. it's so him, like his mind. then he also has a studio in his basement. really, it started bc when he started having kids, he didn't want to leave his house. didn't want to drive into the city to record, so had one put there bc why not? he's got the $$ lol. he also gets the flowers pressed from their three weddings, the baby showers, any really big achievement- he'll get a bouquet made and pressed and preserved. nb always hangs them and decorates with them, and it makes him so proud lol.
bouncer!eddie lives in an apartment. it's very sketch, very cheap. like one bedroom, one bath, tiny ass kitchen and little living room. he literally just lives there. no personal touches beside a tv, a boombox. mattress on the ground, card table and folding chairs, leftover box as a nightstand, towel as a bath mat. he mainly stays at your place so he's not too worried about it, but the first time you come in, you're a little horrified.
cowboy!eddie- i know this is going to sound cliche but if you've ever seen the ranch on netflix lol. that's what i picture. like that wooden, ranch style house. a little older, i think it's been renovated since it was built like forever ago. small screened in porch, wooden dutch doors. a sun room in the back of the house with some house plants. an older couch and recliner, a wooden heater stove in the living room- it was apart of the original design of the house so he kept it, even with the ac/heating unit. patterned quilts on the bed, old school floral sheets that came with the house lol. really, he didn't do much to it besides add a few of his things when he moved in, because it was his grandparent's home before his.
modern!eddie had an apartment close to the park for a very small time. roomed with gareth, and then once he started staying with you, he didn't stay there anymore. probably didn't have a bed, but a futon they put in one of the rooms and had all their gaming stuff in it. he's victim of the striped, blue comforter that's faded as hell. has a rick and morty poster he put on the wall with thumb tacks. tv on the ground with his gaming stuff, wires everywhere. a closet that has shit spilling out of it. very messy lol.

Collage box collection
After discovering that I had a reasonably big stash of interesting flyers, greetings cards, guidebooks and other bits of ephemera, and seeing this tutorial, I was really inspired to use it all for something.
This was helped by the fact that recently I've found a lot of really nice wooden boxes in charity shops for very cheap - all the ones pictured here were £2. Either I've been extremely lucky, or these things turn up very often and I just haven't been looking for them.
I've posted about some of these previously (here and here), but they were only half done and these pictures are better! Plus there is one new one.
First was this wooden chocolate box. Before...
Tumblr media
And after!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
You can tell this is my first one as I oversatured the paper with Mod Podge, leading to it bubbling and creasing, but for a first attempt I don't think it's bad at all.
All the pictures I used were taken from an exhibition guide for an event I went to called "Exploring the Gothic" which contained a lot of beautiful pictures. The floral parts were from a pad of scrapbooking paper, which I also used to make the individual compartments (they are origami boxes, see a tutorial for how to make them here) and I then filled them with pieces from my collection of beads, charms, and broken jewellery.
Tumblr media
I also had a guide to a William Blake exhibition I'd been to, and since there was an entire plate from "The Marriage of Heaven and Hell" I had to make it into a miniature wall plaque.
I did this one at the same time as the first, and again you can kind of see that I oversatured the paper which caused it to tear slightly, however thankfully it wasn't in an area where there was any writing.
Tumblr media
(BTW, if anyone is interested in the meaning of this section, Blake is describing his creative process, albeit in a fantastical way. This blog post gives a good analysis)
The next one was a beautiful little cabinet with a broken handle.
Tumblr media
And here is what I did with it. I kept the collaging to a minimum, only on the inside, though I might add something to the outside in the future. The replacement "handles" are a pair of my earrings!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I used some more of the gothic exhibition guide and scrapbook paper, and also a flyer for a ballet version of Dracula. I need to find some more interesting things to fill it as it currently only contains my resin crow's skull and a miniature book of Tennyson poems. Also my Cthulhu candle gets to sit on top and be worshipped by the skeleton on the right door.
I did much better with the collaging process on this one. I was a lot more patient, used less Mod Podge for each layer and allowed them to dry fully in between, resulting in no tears, bubbles or creasing.
The final and most recent is this plain box. I noticed it originally came from somewhere called "Palmyra Hardware" which instantly made me think of the Palmyra Wolves (I'm a fan of MrBallen and saw him tell the story on his YouTube channel) which gives a pleasantly creepy angle to this one before I even did anything to it!
Tumblr media
After collaging
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The central image on the outside is another William Blake painting, an illustration to Dante's Inferno, which includes the famous quote "Abandon All Hope, Ye Who Enter Here". The writing saying "The way, the truth, the life" came from a religious leaflet that a friend of mine was forcibly given, and which he ripped to shreds, but I saved this part because for some reason I liked it.
Inside we've got a very famous Blake painting called "The Ancient of Days", the praying skeleton again as this image was reproduced several times in that guidebook, and a block printed demon from a handmade birthday card that a friend gave me several years ago. I'm very pleased to have finally been able to use him for something!
I've enjoyed making all of these immensely and no doubt I will do more in the future as I collect more papers and find more nice boxes 😊

Hi, just wanted to say your binding of "Faces In The Dust" looks gorgeous!!! Could I ask, how did you make the title + decoration and apply it to the front cover? :O
Hello! The cover designs are cut from vinyl with a cricut machine. In this book's case I used permanent vinyl. Which is essentially very sticky vinyl. There is also HTV(heat transfer vinyl) which you cut out and then adhere to the material via heat (such as an iron). I tend to use cricut to design and then cut most of my covers. The cricut is a cutting (and other things) machine that has a digital design space I run on the computer to help me design covers.
I typically like to start by 'making the case' out of colored blocks in the space that are the size of my actual cover so I can know what things will look like when I put it all together. I also color my items to match as close as possible to the colors I plan to cut them from as well. I mostly do this because I have aphantasia so I need the literal imagery in order to see what the design will look like. These steps are by no means necessary and if you can visualize what you want then you can just add the images/text in however you like.
Tumblr media
The vinyl is a plastic-y sheet or roll of vinyl in a given color. Because I wanted to have the flowers be one color(lavender) and the stem (green) another I needed to cut two sections and take the parts I wanted from each. I could have also edited the images so that each of the two only had the parts I wanted from it so it would only cut them. But it wasn't that much of a difference and if I just copy pasted a second one of the same image and changed the color then I would know they were the same size and everything would fit together.
Once the design is done I move to the cutting phase. The colors you pick determine which pieces are cut together.
Tumblr media
You load each sheet of vinyl in on a mat and it cuts the image out. When it is done you cut out around the section you just cut the image on and then use tweezers to remove the vinyl you aren't using around the image. This is called weeding. In the flowers & stem's case I also then used an exacto blade to cut off the flower heads from each of the cut outs so I could combine the two colors of vinyl to create my final version of the image.
Once it is all weeded you are ready to transfer it to the book case. You do this with transfer tape. It is a clear plastic sticky sheet that you place on your vinyl to 'pick it up' off of the backing it started out on.
Again in this instance to combine the colors I picked up the green vinyl on the tape and then lined up the purple flowers and pressed down to get them stuck to the tape as well. With it all now collected I placed the transfer tape on my book and pressed the vinyl into the case of the book. Smoothing it down with my bonefolder or anything else that helps make sure it is flat so it is really adhered and there are no air bubbles.
I do the same with all the titling and ta-da! A Book!
Tumblr media
There are tons of ways you can title/design your book covers. I just got my hands on foil quills this past weekend so I hope to try making a cover with them in the not too distance future. Some folks I know use paint pens, or cut out stencils and use regular paint, or just free hand paint if you want to show off your skills of an artist. Hope this was helpful and not too rambling. Sorry I don't have pictures for all the steps, I can make a point to take pictures the next time I make a cover in cricut if that is something folks would want to have. Feel free to reach out if you have any more questions.

Ephemer's and Brain's scenes where they get appointed as a Union Leader - a comparison (and some other stuff relating to that)
Hi I'm Psi and I've been rotating these scenes in my mind for so long I just need to put down some words about this. Idk how long this is going to be, but I hope you will enjoy this. (Also screw the 10 picture limit of tumblr.)
There is quite the difference between those two scenes and it reflects a lot about their relationship with Ava, how they treat the title as a Union Leader, and are just ... generally interesting to look at, now that we kinda know everything.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The first frame each scene.
We know all of them got appointed at this same hill (except Strelitzia and, well, Ventus). Yet right from the start - even though the positioning are the same between them, Brain is seen lying down on the hill as Ava talks to him, while Ephemer seems to have been called to the hill to meet Ava there. Ava might have joined Brain on the hill instead of the other way around.
Brain is seen with the Rule Book in his hands already. The conversion starts for us right in the middle - he already got that book, and Ava told him to become a Union Leader.
The scene with Ephemer also starts right in the middle for us. Yet he doesn't have the rule book yet, but also asks Ava the same question as Brain.
Let's continue with Ephemer's scene for now. He questions everything Ava tells him, can't quite understand this end of the world, how he can't wrap his head around this while Ava already tells him what he has to do. It is very overwhelming for him (understandable), but he tries to listen to Ava's talk.
Ava assures him he isn't alone in this, that they can work together.
Tumblr media
Ephemer just takes it all in, without questioning this loud on screen. I'm certain his mind is running miles right now. A silent thinker.
Brain, however, reacts quite differently. While we don't see the conversation they had before, the talk about the end, the war, doesn't happen here (which I definitely get from a narration point, and assume happened as he got the Rule Book before this scene started).
Tumblr media
Instead he questions the choice of him taking on such an important role, immediately asking whose idea this was. Ava tells him the truth, that it was the Master of Masters, and assures him he'll be fine. And again Brain isn't quite happy about the work he just got appointed to do, and questions her about the four others - Ava must have told him about how they will take over the roles of the foretellers, to lead the Unions, how they can work together etc.
Tumblr media
While he doesn't get an answer to his question, Ava's answer is still enough for him to draw an answer for himself - looking right through everything, how they aren't supposed to meet up before the war to do something unexpected.
Tumblr media
"Clever as always" says to me that Ava knew Brain before all this. They definitely have met before, Ava knows how Brain thinks, how he's like and what he's capable of. Her short answers of "you'll be fine" over and over imply to me that.
The two scenes now drift apart in terms of the topic, yet they still kind of follow the same path.
Ava asks Ephemer to prepare for the other world - the world she intends to send the Dandelions to - while she starts a conversation about fate and destiny about Brain.
Again, let's start with Ephemer's scene first. Ava has given Ephemer the Rule Book now, and while Ephemer is still hung up about everything Ava just told him, Ava tells him how this other world won't have the Dandelions remember the war. Ephemer counters with how he isn't sure if this is a good idea, how the past is what makes the future after all. Ava notes how she thought he might say that and wonders if he still thought the same if he was there to witness the end.
Ephemer doesn't answer and the scene ends.
Throughout the entire scene Ava stays serious, going through this calm and collected without showing much emotion. The only time she does crack a small smile is at the very end.
Tumblr media
Ava, now having joined Brain's side on the ground, starts dropping think-pieces towards Brain about the future, about predetermined fate, and if you knew what would happen, would you be able to change it.
Brain always answers her curious questions with curious questions of his own, furthering the discussion with her. He brings up the Book of Prophecies and knows how it holds the future in text form, wonders if you were to change the future if the text were to change as well.
Ava's expressions during that scene stays smiling, she chuckles at some answers from Brain, ... it comes off as appreciation that Brain just gets her, understands what she is about and her thought process.
A wavelength they share. Ava trusts him and you can see it in that conversation alone.
It is interesting, because with Ephemer - as he states the past is what makes the future - she simply comes off as "don't think about that. Follow the rules set in stone". Ephemer tries to challenge the thought, but Ava shuts him down. Even that far that, when he later meets Brain for the first time and Brain asks about the rules, Ephemer remembers Ava's words and follows what he had been told to.
Sure, these two topics - between Ava and Ephemer, and Ava and Brain - are different, yet it is still a conversation only the two individually got. And I can't help but compare these two, because the intentions of these scenes are the same, yet so vastly different excecuted.
And to bring everything to a peak, Brain's scene continues with him getting the Book of Prophecies, together with the list of the names of the five new Union Leaders.
Tumblr media
Again, Ava trusts Brain in this, how he uses it, what he's supposed to do with it. And he assures her that he understood her message loud and clear. The scene ends with Brain saying he won't open it if he can avoid it and Ava, again, assuring him that he will know best.
Ava was intrusted to give the Book of Prophecies to one of the new Union Leaders in secret, noted that no one else from the other four should ever get their hands on it. Now that we know it wasn't Brain who was supposed to get it, the look at this and some other scenes get quite ... interesting.
There are some leftover things I want to cover.
- Ava and Brain have a much more comfortable conversation than Ava and Ephemer. I conclude from that that they knew each other before all this, as I mentioned before. Ephemer states that Ava is easy to talk to, so maybe that is also a factor. I also conclude from this that she specifically chose Brain for the Book because she already knew him. If she knew him before or after she got the list with the names would really be interesting to know, but sadly we don't know that. (But could you imagine if she knew him before she got her role?)
- Maybe Ephemer just needed this serious talk. We do know him as his bright, laughing boy, able to make friends quickly. He has troubles making important serious decisions alone (Shift Pride for example). Brain on the other hand is the more serious one, and Ava was more smiley in his scene - he can make decisions on his own if he wants to, maybe coming from a background where he was alone pre keyblade war times. Hm, just wondering here how this might be relevant to Missing Link one day ...
- Which scene happens first? Ephemer's or Brain's? I can only speculate, but let's put some things in order. We see one other scene between Ephemer and Ava, and it is when they meet at the fountain on the day Ephemer first met Player. There the conversation starts with "oh your name is Ephemer, right?" as if they ... have maybe met once before. Ava would definitely know Ephemer more here already if they had the talk about the Union Leader thing already. It must have been later than this then, though not much all too later, because Ephemer vanishes shortly after, to carry out what Ava asked him to do.
- So, Brain's scene before or after this point? We don't have a clear indication. I want to bring in the lines during the Ephemer - Ava fountain scene "Hey, maybe talking about the Book will cheer you up!" "Not a chance." here, simply because I feel this is important to Ava's decision of giving Brain the Book. Ephemer is so curious about the Book of Prophecies, he doesn't hide it. There is another line I want to bring in now, from the KHUx Finale.
Tumblr media
"Master Ava told me you've been wanting to read the Book for a long time." This very line could reference this very fountain scene, implying that Brain and Ava met again at some later point to let him know just about that. Which is interesting, because it means that Brain knew that Ephemer was a Union Leader even before the war, or maybe Ava told him in a way without mentioning he's a new leader - paraphrasing here - "there is a boy called Ephemer who wants to read the Book so badly". Either way, it makes me think Brain's scene happened before Ephemer's just because of this line.
- following up on my previous point, Brain knowing that Ephemer wants to read the Book so badly from the very beginning makes the keyblade graveyard scene of them meeting for the first time interesting to look at. Other theories aside here, Brain asking him if he's the leader and if they should follow the rules, knowing this one thing about Ephemer - challenging him like Ava did in his scene, but this time in reversed roles. Kind of to see where he stands.
- knowing all that, seeing their relationship flourish through the game is so ... good. From Brain questioning if he's the leader to downright trusting him by showing him the list of the names of the Union Leaders, being the first person Brain seeks out to talk about this issue they face. I will not go into details about that, I just want to conclude it with my final image.
Tumblr media
The keyblade, the Book, it was meant for Ephemer all this time - implying that Ephemer was the one who was circled in red by the Master of Masters in the first place.
I could go into another deep dive here, about how this was meant to happen in the first place, how even if Ava wanted to challenge fate and destiny by switching around the owners, this timeline was written down in the first place like that - but maybe that's for another day.
So ..... yeah.
Two scenes, so different, yet so similar to the core. Ephemer, who took his role as a Union Leader serious right away. Brain, who calls him a leader right away, calling himself lazy and not fit for the job in the first place.
Yet in the end they worked together blindly, understood and trusted each other.
Anyways uhhh, that's all, thanks for reading and I hope my jumbled thoughts make somewhat sense, lmao.

🌸 If you get this, answer with 3 random facts about yourself and send it to the last 7 blogs in your notifications, anonymously or not! Let's get to know the person behind the blog. 🌸
No pressure to reply
Sweet! Thanks for the ask and um three random facts about myself hmm.
1. I have actually met Graham McTravish at a convention as well as The hobbits from the lord of the rings and a few other LoTR and Hobbit celebrities as well! But definitely Dwalin and the hobbits are the most most famous. I was fairly young around twelve or thirteen when I met Dealing and Last year was when I met the Hobbit crew. All amazing all wonderful. Would love to see them again if not new members in future conversations.
2. I am actually not really good nor a big fan of reading. I know strange because I love writing and this blog is dedicated to writing but I just struggle with actually reading. I believe I have aphantasia which makes me unable to "picture" things in my head. So reading is really just words on paper to me. A big part of reading is the picturing of events but nope, can't do it. Also reading in school has taken the fun out of it for me (which is a sentiment shared by a lot of people). However I would like to get back into reading and find some enjoyment in it because I do think its a relaxing and healthy way to cope! I do collect books and that's not to say I don't have favorite stories. I love Arthas: Rise of the Lich King" by Christine Golden. ✨📚
3. This one isn't really a fun fact but I don't mind sharing because it is a part of my life. Speaking of coping I have felt with mild to severe depression for a good portion of my life. I am always trying to get better and think more positively and this blog as well as other factors (relationships and activities) of my life have helped me! It isn't easy but I do try and one of my many coping mechanisms has been plush animals. Like a looooot of plush animals. As long as my depression reins i don't think my plush friends will leave. Currently sleep with like ten and they are all my comfort after a long day! Lil guys are just my kinda jam and they sit on my bed and give me so much joy. Ill probably be eighty and still want to go to build a bear and get a new fella if I want to.
So yeah some facts about me!
:3 and I wish whoever reads this a very big thank you for taking the time to read this and hope you have a great day.

Yooo! New person! It’s always so nice to see new Submas fans around!
Nice to meetcha! Welcome to our silly little community where we’re all a teeny bit crazy over silly train men. 🤏 Just a little.
Can’t wait to see all the cool content you’ll be posting soon! I have a few questions for you!
First, how’d you get into the Submas fandom? How long have you been in it for? And who’s your favorite twin? Unless… it’s BOTH!
I hope you’ll have lots of fun here. We’ve got a ton of cool peeps making cool Submas stuff! It’s incredible, honestly. Our community is so talented, and it’s fun to see everyone contribute something different! Arts, fanfics, EVEN FANMADE MERCHANDISE (the insane amount of Submas pins and charms that I have…)!
I’m excited to learn more about you as you grow! Keep it up!
Hiiii! Thanks so much for the warm welcome! I'm definitely excited to start posting art (and possibly fics) here real soon and get to know other Submas fans better!
As for how I discovered Submas- it's quite an odd story. Roughly 7 years ago my friend showed me a screenshot of N and Emmet, with Emmet running away with N's toy trains. I'll post the picture here in a bit. But I thought it was hilarious and saved it to my own phone. I was a little curious about who Emmet was (especially since it was clear he was associated with trains, which I've loved all my life) but I never really gave it much thought after that. Fast forward to about a day after Legends Arceus released, I meet Ingo. But I didn't know he was Ingo- I thought he was Emmet. I kinda forgot about Emmet over the years so when I saw Ingo I was like "Oh, silly train guy is here. What's his name again? Emmet?" But as the minutes passed I started remembering what Emmet looked like, with the white uniform and smile. And this man looked nothing like him but also exactly like him. I thought maybe I was imagining things, until Ingo introduced himself, and I started to connect the dots: Emmet has a twin.
So I do more research and find out they're known as the Subway Bosses, from Pokemon Black and White (my favorite Pokemon games) and that they're Battle Facility leaders. I start looking into them more, finding Battle Subway fanart and reading fics, and as I played Legends Arceus more I became super attached to Ingo. And it wasn't long before I got attached to Emmet too! I started to really fall down the Submas rabbit hole in late February 2022- February 22nd to be exact, as that was my first Multi Battle with Ingo and Emmet. (I got destroyed lol)
Oh yeah here's the photo I mentioned earlier:
Tumblr media
I kinda laugh at the thought that this photo introduced a future favorite character, and that it had such a big effect 7 years later.
As for which twin I like more... It's both! There's something to love in both Ingo and Emmet, and I'll probably make a ramble post in the future about everything I love about them!
(Also I completely relate to the collection of Submas merch, my Battle Subway sticker book arrived today lol)
I'm definitely looking forward to posting some art and rambles, and getting to meet others who are in the Submas community!

Mmmmmm post sleep Tennocon Rambles under the cut
Ofc because I just started vet school last week (yay) I couldn’t attend in person. Really sad I couldn’t attend because I’ve always loved it when I went to the 2017 and 2018 events. Had to watch the stream, but it look like from pictures everyone had tons of fun and I’m glad it was a success. Next year, please let it be closer to the middle of the summer akdjejak
Art panel, the highlight for me as always as an artist myself. Really cool to see all the concept works from way back in Dark Sector. I’m so sad the art book was so expensive and sold out so fast, but I hope this means they can be inspired to do a reprint in the future (maybe when food expenses arent draining my bank like a whirlpool….) The new upcoming concepts I can’t say I’m a fan of all too much. Grendel is my most hated frame but the boar is a cool inpiration for him. I personally think the game is very oversaturated with Liger concepts, so as per most Liger deluxes Sevagoth wasn’t my cup of tea. They designed the frame, why not have someone else take a shot as his deluxe? I didn’t catch who designed Yareli’s bu that one was interesting.
And….. the Heirloom skins collection. They’re pretty. I though Mag’s was for Nova and got too excited for a bit. And as a Frost main I’m always glad for more content containing him, hell I squint at his skin because it has a few elements that are strikingly similar to my Deluxe concept for him back in 2021. But. The price. I want to buy it, but this entire collection pitch is exactly what Digital Extremes has vow to not do in all 10 years with their fair free to play model, and this sets a very bad precedent if it were to continue. $90 USD is too high of a price for a pack of skins marketed as being in celebration of 10 years, inflated artificially with the Regal Aya. A pack of 6 (with an extra bonus, making 7 total and 400 platinum) is $40 which means everything in the second tier pack is only $30. The same price as the low tier. The only new thing the skins intoduce are the Signas, which are cool, but I gesture to Kaithe coronets. The skins have no new visual effects for abilities, no new animations, not even new idles like recent Deluxe skins have. Rebecca used the word “prestigious” for describing the pack. And I beg her to NEVER use that word again for cosmetics. Prestigious content is a very slippery slope. Take the Prestige skins from League. Because of those skins Riot is now thinking they can make a variant recolor of a very old Jhin legendary and mark the price up to $200. Warframe doesn’t need that. Not to mention the FOMO. The Heirloom pack is gone at the end of the year. Even past Prime Access comes back in Resurgence after a few years. Nightwave brings back old items from past story events. The only thing that has never returned was the Founders Packs, for a good reason. The Heirloom collection feels like a rehash of the Founders marketing in the present state of them game where it’s most likely not trying to stay afloat. FOMO has never existed in Warframe, and it shouldn’t be added now.
Don’t even get me started on that 10 year Accolade in the packs. Accolades have usually been for people who made a notable contribution to the game. Founders, Closed Beta testers, Creators. All of them have some sort of impact on the game be it keeping it afloat in the starting year or contributing to the Community. Now a shiny sticker can be added to any account for as low as $30. I’ve been playing the game for 8 years. I’m not a ‘10 year supporter’ yet. The wording itself insinuates that to supoort the game for a decade, you need to pay. That Accolade should have been something added automatically when your account turns 10 years old.
Overall I’m extremely disappointed bu the Heirloom marketing as it stands. Will I buy it down the road? Chances are high when I’m not bleeding for food with school going on, which is at the very end of the year right before it goes away cause I also give into FOMO. DE has adjusted their strategies before, and I hope they do so now. But this has already set a bad first impressions for any future Heirloom content.
Anyway, rant over on that. Sound panel was cool. Always cool to hear how specific sounds are made like Kullervo. The Heirloom debacle kinda soured my mood for a bit, so I focused more on studying my classes and then went shopping with my roommates.
Came back a little late to TennoLive, probably halfways thru the Soulframe demo. From what I saw I really like the whole concept and thematic. The little turtle guy is so cute. Excited to see more of its development and eventually play it.
The Warframe aspect I had more range of feelings. Whispers in the Wall looks really cool and I’m excited for exploring what the fuck Albrecht is doing. I love how its expanding Deimos more, instead of adding another island and button to navigation. It feels like it’ll require the New War to access, since its all based around the aesthetic of the Man in the Wall seen at the very end of the quest. I’m very interest in the human Loid (best design from Liger since Nezha Empyrean imo). I hope he gives more insight into the attitudes of the Orokin since he is 99% likely from before the Old War.
And… Warframe 1999. I got sucked into Warframe because of it’s unique spin on fantasy sci-fi. And throughout the 8 years I’ve played it’s stuck to its aethetic formula to a T. Seeing CRT monitors and Nokias along with Entrati designs, the modern sci-fi elements and callbacks to Dark Sector makes it feel out of place. Blasphemous almost. But, I’ve had this feeling before with Duviri. I had reservations as to whether Duviri would break the Warframe Universe as we knew it. But DE made the Paradox make sense, and the aethetic language of the world fits perfectly into the formula. I absolutely love Duviri. I need to see more and play 1999 in order to feel how it connects to the Origin System and Duviri as a whole, be it the very distant past (and being born in 99 myself makes me…. Haaaaa) or a parallel universe connected by Void Fuckery(tm). But seeing how Duviri played out I have no real doubts DE won’t pull it off again.

They catch their s/o buying their merch
Anon asks: Ateez&skz reaction caching their s.o buying their merch? Or seeing them receiving a package with their album or pc?
Note: I decided to go with Ateez, but I might do a Stray Kids version sometime in the future! Thank you for requesting!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
♡Seonghwa♡ You hadn’t been feeling well lately, so while over one evening Seonghwa went to the kitchen to make you some tea. He noticed the Hehetmon dish while refiling through the cabinets, quirking a brow at the sight of Yeosang’s birthday merch from a few months ago. Then he noticed the sticky note stuck to your fridge with your own doodle of Hehetmon. Plucking it off with a smile he asks you about it, finding it cute how fond you had grown of Yeosangs character. He gets Yesoang to doodle you some more, HehetMon deserves the love!
♡HongJoong♡ He had come by to pick you up to go out for the evening, picking up your package and bringing it inside for you. He asked what was in it, watching as you grinned and excitedly tore open the package, showing off the album from their latest comeback you had picked out. He rolls his eyes but ends up looking over your shoulder as you flip through the photobook.
♡Yunho♡ He wonders how he never noticed the Ateez lightstick displayed on your vanity before. He points it out one night while sleeping over, rolling out of bed and waking you up as he went to grab it. You groan at the light when he turns it on, swinging it around and playing while you sit up. He doesn’t really care, though it is cool that you own the group's lightstick.
♡Yeosang♡ When did you get that sweatshirt? He wonders when he notices you wearing the merch while lounging around together. He makes sure to tell you that you don’t have to buy their merch, albums, or anything just because the two of you were together. He thinks it's a cute gesture nonetheless, though would be shy if you wore it while out together.
♡San♡ He had been helping you store away new photos and mementos from your latest trip with your friends. He had gone to your room to find a mini photo album for you, but of course, he grabbed the wrong one. Rather than a cute little book filled with your friends, he found a casual collection of photo cards. “Awe, you really are our fan!” He doesn't let you breathe for the next few days, teasing you over it.
♡Mingi♡ It started as a joke. It was late, nearing two am, and the both of you had been goofing off sleep-deprived for hours and the idea of just printing out an Ateez poster and hang it up in the living room was hilarious. So you did and you forgot about it until Mingi came over next. You were mortified when he pointed out the poorly cropped and low quality picture. He could only laugh and insist he’ll get you an actual poster if you want one so bad.
♡Wooyoung♡ You were mortified when he came to you with a little collect book in hand and a devilish grin. “Well, well, well. You really can’t resist me?” When Wooyoung discovered the album of his photocards you had collected recently you knew he would never let you live it down. He’s relentless with his teasing, though he secretly hopes you keep collecting them.
♡Jongho♡ He didn’t mind that you bought their albums from time to time, he even liked flipping through the older ones to refresh on past concepts. It's the photocards he doesn't like- specifically that you never pull his. You’ve amassed a collection of Wooyoung. He always tells you to pull him next time but you never do. Those poor photocards are put through the wringer- taped to the ceiling, tossed about, put in a tupperware dish to serve jail time- all but Jongho’s hands. It’s all a joke of course, but your curse of getting Wooyoung keeps on strong.

If I update you every time I'm crying, will you get so annoyed that it'll make you feel better about not crying?
I'm in a really strange mood, sorry if that's rude or insensitive or anything
Okay, here's the real ask: The gala is over, right? How was it? Did you rock your heels?
Feel free to haha
And yep the gala was last Friday. I did rock those heels as much as that was possible—after an hour or two I removed them because it started to hurt. Honestly it was pretty disappointing though. The first thing is a little on me for having false expectations, but the picture on the ticket showed a cruise boat—it was not in fact a cruise boat. I should have known with what the ticket price was haha The boat was far smaller, holding like a hundred people, and so low my head was bonking against the ceiling in certain areas, even without the heels on :]
Also haven't been so long at parties that I forgot a little, but my social energy ran out like 1.5 hours in and it was 4 hours on water. I just vibed a bit after that and at the end sat on a chair for a while. I don't know how people can party for that long but oh well that's the introvert life. The first hour was fun but parties are just not my thing after all.
More fun that day was the afternoon before, because I met up with two friends of mine at a cat café! The cats there were so cute <3<3 Had some tea and a sandwich there with a cat sleeping on the table 💜
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Look how cute it all is <3
Also one of my friends has also worked on the minecraft book I talked about, so we did a quick signing session of each others' books. I'm hoping to collect some more signatures in the future too of the other builders. The ones living in the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium and maybe France, I could perhaps manage but the other ones sadly live too far right now. Time will tell if they ever visit in the area.

Experiments In Early Victorian Skincare: A White Lip-Salve
(Find previous posts in this series here.) Finally, a perfectly ordinary skincare item just like every other lip balm and lip oil and lip tint I own, right down to the mutton suet content.
Tumblr media
Who's ready to get just so kissable?
TO MAKE ROSE LIP-SALVE
Put eight ounces of the best olive oil into a wide-mouthed bottle, add two ounces of the small parts of alkanet-root. Stop up the bottle, and set it in the sun; shake it often, until it be of a beautiful crimson. Now strain the oil off very clear from the roots, and add to it, in a glazed pipkin, three ounces of very fine white wax, and the same quantity of fresh clean mutton suet. […] Melt this on a slow fire, and perfume it when taken off, with forty drops of oil of rhodium, or of lavender. When cold, put it into small gallipots, or rather whilst in a liquid state. […] This salve never fails to cure chopped [i.e. chapped] or sore lips, if applied pretty freely at bed-time, in the course of a day or two at farthest.
WHITE LIP-SALVE
This may be made as above, except in the use of alkanet root, which is to be left out. Though called lip-salve, this composition is seldom applied to the lips; its principal use consisting in curing sore nipples, for which it is an excellent remedy.
Tumblr media
Citing this receipt is an absolute headache -- with minor variations this basic formulation for both red and white salve shows up in texts from the 1810s to the 1850s. You can find it in The Complete Servant, A New Collection Of Genuine Receipts, Mackenzie's Five Thousand Receipts... I swear this shit is like recipe blogging, minus the long copyrightable prelude. Tl;;dr, this recipe would have been in contemporary use at the time of the final Franklin expedition, but it would scarcely have been brand new.
Batch One
almond oil
beeswax
raw cocoa butter
sweet orange oil
Geogard ECT (a lip-safe, broad-spectrum natural preservative -- I bought it with watery pomatum use in mind but figured, fuck it)
Okay, so I lied about the suet, I'm sorry and I'll try to do better in the future. This is absolutely the most normie of these recipes as far as I'm concerned, after reluctantly subbing out the aforementioned mutton suet for an equally fragrant but much more anodyne fat, cocoa butter. It's a pretty standard recipe for a firm salve like I'd make with any other infused oil, though I'm skipping the alkanet here for firm and masculine Royal Navy reasons. Everything melted together readily enough in my DIY bain-marie, but I first smelled trouble when the fully melted liquid in the boiler had its own separated particles of fat. While the liquid still poured like a dream the resulting salve had tiny, faintly gritty blooms from the cocoa butter component on top as soon as it had cooled. The odor of raw cocoa butter — not unpleasant but definitely bitter — warred with the smell of orange oil, and while the consistency is certainly pleasant enough on the lip it wasn't everything I'd hoped for. I'm pretty spoiled for only the most modern and standardized commercial projects, so this minor variation troubled me.
Tumblr media
Batch Two (pictured here alongside some cold cream tins)
olive oil
beeswax
shea butter
sweet orange oil
Geogard ECT
For batch two, I did indeed use olive oil, paired with shea butter as has become my usual suet/tallow substitute in these experiments, but I found myself with a problem I hadn't considered: what, to an early Victorian, makes olive oil "the best"? We can probably assume this excludes obviously-oxidized, rancid, or adulterated oil, but would a Victorian cook prefer a pungent, peppery oil or a mild one? Would they be accustomed to working with a Mediterranean mainstay like olive oil at all?
Mrs. Beeton's Book of Household Management gives an outline on the uses of olives and their oil that sure makes it sound like a common enough ingredient in the middle-class English home, albeit one of limited usage:
There are three kinds of olives imported to London,-- the French, Spanish, and Italian: the first are from Provence, and are generally accounted excellent; the second are larger, but more bitter; and the last are from Lucca, and are esteemed the best. The oil extracted from olives, called olive oil, or salad oil, is, with the continentals, in continual request, more dishes being prepared with than without it, we should imagine. With us, it is principally used in mixing a salad, and when thus employed, it tends to prevent fermentation, and is an antidote against flatulency.
But Mrs. Beeton gives us no clues about what flavor profile is to be preferred or how to distinguish a good olive oil from a bad one. Modern preferences regarding olive oil in the US and UK alike are shaped by 20th-21st century fashions in cuisine and diet, from Tuscan cooking and the Mediterranean diet to concerns about free radicals and triglycerides -- I prepared this batch of salve with the tail end of a bottle of imported EVOO, certainly a product of all those influences -- but after all, we're not eating this stuff outright, we're just rubbing it on our lips, or nipples. The perfumer Charles Lillie makes an assertion about the forms of olive oil most suitable for mixing with fragrance:
Tumblr media
(He also marks out the best olive oil in terms of its price -- fourteen shillings per gallon in 1825, around £52 GBP adjusted very broadly for inflation. Which doesn't help me now, but ok, cool.)
What if we look earlier? Friedrich Christian Accum's 1822 treatise on the adulteration of commercial goods warns of the risk of contamination with lead, and of the deliberate dilution of olive oil with other oils like poppyseed, not unlike the modern traffic in counterfeit EVOO. "Good olive oil," by Accum's definition, "should have a pale yellow colour, somewhat inclining to green; a bland taste, without smell; and should congeal at 38 degrees Fahrenheit." So it certainly sounds like the pungent, peppery oil I might use for the dinner table (or indeed on a salad) is right out, but gorgeous Georgians and vile Victorians were out here performing DIY tests for detecting adulterated oil just like I am when I get paranoid about my California Olive Ranch EVOO being secretly 90% canola or something.
Olive oil was even more popular with 19th century pharmacists than with salad-makers due to its abundance of applications, both external and internal. (In the spirit of my original meta, I have to say here: lube.) Even so, would a salve like this one really find its place aboard a polar expeditionary ship? A rosy alkanet lip stain is right out for most occasions, but chapped lips and chapped nipples are facts of life in all climates, and I don't have any reason to think personal sundries along the lines of Crozier's ill-fated tea and sugar would be excluded from officers' belongings, perhaps those of ordinary ratings as well.
Gentlemen in the civilian world and Royal Navy alike might stock their own medicine chests for travel and day-to-day use; these chests contained independently-sourced materials making for a range of self-treatment options for complaints both minor and major. The National Maritime Museum currently holds one of Sir John Franklin's own medicine chests, looking very handsome with brass fittings and its own set of scales for dosing; fellow Arctic explorer and Franklin searcher Sir William Edward Parry owned another glorious example of the same, handsomely made and stocked with painkillers, laxatives, and much more. Judging by its survival it's evident Franklin's own chest wasn't recovered from any wreck, but we know that the final Franklin expedition carried at least one communal medicine chest aboard, as it was found abandoned at Victory Point.
This chest isn't one of the luxe private articles marketed to gentlemen like Franklin and Parry but a prosaic piece of luggage intended for organization-wide use. Alongside opium, camphor, ginger, and Tolu balsam the Victory Point chest contained peppermint oil and a two-ounce bottle of olive oil. No one would waste such things on a remedy for chapped lips, certainly not at the "abandoning our ships and sledging to our doom" stage of the expedition, but it seems plausible enough to me that the private version of one of these chests might contain a personal care product like this one, whether homemade by a loved one or purchased as a commercial item from the same pharmacist who sourced the more potent medical preparations alongside it. Maybe more realistically, such an item would find its place alongside hairbrushes and tooth powders -- as more and more materials are able to be recovered from the wrecks of Erebus and Terror, I'll be really interested to see what further personal items are able to be recovered.
If you're interested in the contents of these personal medicine chests and that of the Franklin expedition chest, please run, don't walk, to Dr. Marieke M.A. Hendriksen's wonderful paper "Consumer Culture, Self-Prescription, and Status: Nineteenth-Century Medicine Chests in the Royal Navy". (Hendriksen does wonderful work around the material culture of medicine in general and I'm so jealous in the best way of her work around Early Modern consumption and taste.) Richard J. Cyriax's 1947 article "A Historic Medicine Chest" treats the individual contents of the Franklin chest in some detail, and is absolutely worth a read. There's another topical remedy for skin ailments lurking in Cyriax's account of the medicine chest contents that I'll be getting to very soon in this experimental series…
Would there be any interest in a tinted version of this salve that does incorporate an alkanet infusion? I've made so many individual salves and balms and whatnot as a part of this project that I'm planning on putting them up for sale on BigCartel; Etsy would be way more convenient apart from every other thing wrong with Etsy as a selling host. Let me know too if there's any other kind of receipt recipe from this era you'd be interested in seeing and trying, even if it's more likely to be found in the civilian world than at sea.

I just wanted to say I’ve kept up with your fic rather religiously and it’s one of my absolute favorites to the point where I refused to read the final chapter until I re-read the whole thing. What a beautiful story you created. You have a gift.
Hii, marisatomay, I’d like to start off by apologising for how long it took me to get around to answering your ask 🙈❤️ (was trying to figure out what I wanted to say, and how I wanted to say it, sorry X’D), and thanking you for all your love and support!! 👐🏼🌻 This fic’s the first thing I’ve written written since my 12th grade grammar exam (I think I wrote a 500-word picture-composition on a black-and-white photo of two kids playing in the rain, if I’m not mistaken 😂), and many drafts later, it’s still riddled with little-big mistakes (am planning on doing a final round of edits to flesh out/improve some of the things I wanna work on in the earlier chapters, before I bid farewell to these characters for good 🤞🏼). Which is why, I’m so grateful and pleased that you’d consider my work to be one of your favourites :’) Really, you’re too kind, thank you so much!! ❤️🫂
Now, I must confess, that I do have some residual guilt with regards to the story 🙈 I wrote omegaverse ‘cause I wanted to explore the socio-cultural implications of this made-up biology (a teeny-tiny difference in a chromosome somewhere in an individual’s genotype, that results in a difference in their phenotype), that ends up determining a person’s place in society (a reflection of our world, only much darker, with explicitly discriminative policies/laws still in place in the 21st century)? I set out to tell a story about two people who grow up wanting more or less the same things (to serve their country, and honour their fathers’ legacies — whatever that means to them, individually), who were then offered vastly different opportunities by their world. And while Tom and Pete started their journey with us on a very unequal footing, I’d promised myself that they’d end it, as equals. I worked to that end with the constitutional amendment, and universal suffrage, and the honest conversation they had about the state of their marriage. But somewhere along the way, I realised that their past really does cast long shadows, that I can’t resolve all of their issues, tie everything up in a neat little bow at the end. And it occurred to me, that I had to be okay with that.
There’s a book called Sapiens, in which the author talks about how (I’m paraphrasing here) everything that isn’t a scientifically-proven fact, is a myth. How the sharing of collective myths (capitalism, money, nation, God), has helped shape the foundations of human civilisation. And that’s something something that really stuck with me, ‘cause if that’s true, then maybe we owe it to ourselves, to the world, to tell the right stories, to believe in the right myths? I’m not saying that every story should have a moral or a message (‘cause that’s just not true; people write to have fun, and what can be more justified than making yourself feel good with a creative outlet that also gives other people joy?) I guess, I’m just saying that I would’ve liked to tell a story with a better, more definitive message? My Tom and Pete are far from perfect people, and their relationship is flawed, as well (in some ways, all of their problems are present from the very beginning). The optimism they have for their future, doesn’t match up to their reality. Fate leads them down different roads, and although their intentions are pure, they do end up hurting the people they love. They’re not soulmates. They’re not ‘made for each other’. There’s a chance that they’d have had happier ‘easier’ lives with different partners. That they wouldn’t have made the same choices had their circumstances been different. But, they’re both inherently good people who keep trying to work on their relationship, to find common ground. To choose love and hope. To be better for each other. And I guess, therein lies their (and my own) saving grace… :’) ❤️

Almost a year to the day after first asking @its-sixxers if I could print out and bind Half Light (after figuring out how one actually does that), I've finally finished it!!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
She's 825 pages long, has some of the early pages warped from glue, and blood (?) staining the text block, and I am so excited to fall in love with Nines and Mary all over again. Thanks for letting me do this, it's been a really rewarding project and I got a new hobby out of it!!!
Please go read Half Light and everything else Six has written, she is immensely talented. Mary is my favourite character in Bloodlines bar none and reading her story endeared me to VTMB when the game itself did not. Six's Fallout works are also masterpieces, and I haven't checked out her newer stuff with Elder Scrolls but I fully intend to because even if I've never touched a Skyrim game in my life, I know I'm going to adore it too!
More info about the process under the cut.
SeaLemon was an invaluable resource starting out here because I barely know how to sew and I had no idea how to approach the actual construction of a book. I'm gonna plug her right off the bat because she's very beginner-friendly if anyone else wants to learn.
But before all of that I had to format everything in Word! Chapter by chapter I copied the text over from the downloadable PDF from AO3 and would scan through the fic to ensure the formatting was correct (italicization, bolding, paragraph breaks, etc). I'd do this for about an hour at a time over the course of a couple months, until I decided to do the rest of it all at once after one March night at 10PM where I decided to learn how to bind it all, because fuck it, why not. (Answer: I was freaked out about my upcoming departmental talk and this seemed like a good distraction).
Tumblr media
Printing all of it just on regular printer paper (don't know if I'd do that again in the future, but it's what I had on hand) it ended up being 52 signatures, or collections of 16 pages (4 pieces of paper) folded in half. Pierced holes in all of those using an awl and an old phonebook to hold the pages open, and then used my old embroidery thread to sew them together. This part took me maybe two days because I was just so damn pumped about it lmao. I also don't have any kind of bookpress to weight down the pages, so I had made due with old textbooks and MCAT prep material.
Tumblr media
It stayed this way for LITERAL MONTHS as I gathered all the other supplies - chipboard and brushes from my local craft store, PVA glue online, and by far the hardest part was fabric. I've since learned that you can make your own fabric using book cloth and basically anything you want (if I had known this book would have been coated in red silk I swear) but for now I just wanted to be sure it was something designed for this purpose, as the woman at Fabric Land assured me it needed something specialized. So binder's buckram! Took a while to find something local and the color selection was pretty limited, I was hoping for a dark red or a dark blue but the green was the best they had in stock. Took even longer to get here. And by that point I had enough going on that it fell by the wayside until uh.... last week.
I glued the spine, again realizing that maybe I should've just made my own bookpress but powering through with textbooks to hold things in place, and let that sit for a couple days to fully dry. Ideally it would be flat, but beggars cannot be choosers. Gave her a lil ribbon too.
Tumblr media
Not pictured because I forgot, the final text block with black construction paper glued to it to form the inside cover (would probably use something thicker/crisper in the future, something more like cardstock perhaps?). But then it came to putting the cover together! And that was just cutting chipboard to fit and gluing it correctly onto the fabric, leaving gaps around the spine.
Tumblr media
Let that dry, and then I glued the text block in and let everything sit for just over 24h, again with makeshift weights to prevent the fabric warping (it's the second book from the bottom).
Tumblr media
And then tada! Finished book! (This one's from before it was pressed but it looks the same now)
Tumblr media
All in all extremely cool to hold in my hands and I look forward to the next fic that makes me this insane. If I get permission to do The Sun Is Now Fading I might take a crack at that and make a little set! Follow your dreams and one day you too will be able to take notes in the margins of your favourite Vampire the Masquerade fic.

Tag Game to Better Know You
Send this to people you’d like to know better!
I was tagged by @ragnarlothcat and @bi-wan 💖
What book are you currently reading? Currently reading through ‘The City and the City’ by China Miéville! I’m going through his collection of works at the moment and enjoying myself.
What’s your favorite movie you saw in theaters this year? I only went to see the re-release of Rogue One so... I guess that!
What do you usually wear? At home it’s a t-shirt, a sweatshirt, and leggings or sweats. At work I look like a librarian from the 1930′s.
How tall are you? 157 cm or 5′2. I’m short stuffs
What’s your Star Sign? Do you share a birthday with a celebrity or a historical event? Aries! Share my birthday with Eric Idle, Marina Sirtis, and Lucy Lawless. And according to Wikipedia it’s also the day that the Royal Albert Hall was opened, and the first batch of Coca-Cola was produced!
Do you go by your name or a nick-name? Full name irl, nickname online.
Did you grow up to become what you wanted to be when you were a child? At first I wanted to be an ancient Greek warrior. Suffice to say that didn’t work out. Then I wanted to be a vet but then I realized I sucked at math and science and faint at the sight of blood. So. No, I did not.
Are you in a relationship? If not, who is your crush if you have one? I’m aro/ace
What’s something you’re good at vs. something you’re bad at?  I’m good being stupidly stubborn and sticking to things, even when I’m at my wits end. I’m bad at maintaining contact with people, even those I really care for. Sometimes its because of medical stuff, other times it’s because I just keep forgetting and don’t make the effort to send a message and check in.
Dogs or cats? Kitty-cats 😻 I like visiting friends’ dogs and meeting them on the street, but I could never care for one like they’d need.
If you draw/write, or create in any way, what’s your favorite picture/favorite line/favorite etc. from something you created this year? It’s not been posted yet, but it’s an upcoming section from my WWII AU Obikin fic ‘Moonlight Serenade’
“I love this song,” Padmé said. Her voice sounded distant. Hazy, like the setting sun on the horizon.
“Me too,” he said, resting his chin on the top of her head. He closed his eyes and thought of Obi-Wan, freely and without shame. Thought of his smile, his voice, the tender touch of the fingertips as they brushed together. Thought of how important he was to Anakin, to his identity. His heart ached and he held on to Padmé a little harder - a little more forcefully.
She didn’t even flinch.
What’s something you would like to create content for? I’d like to get back to working on my original novel. It’s been on hold since the summer when I was put into an obikin chokehold and slammed into the wrestling mat.
What’s something you’re currently obsessed with? Star Wars. Formula 1. My cat. My upcoming trip to Disneyland.
What’s something you were excited about that turned out to be disappointing this year? Nothing! I was lucky this year; even the shitty stuff had a silver lining. Let’s hope that holds over for 2023...
What’s a hidden talent of yours? I’m really good at forgetting names and forgetting my keys behind locked doors. Do those count?
Are you religious? Nah.
What’s something you wish to have at this moment? Certainty about the future of my health. And a pair of really warm winter boots - all my boots are more fashionable than practical because I’m vein and dumb.
I tag: @moitey @vulpesarctica @kyberkenobi @the-nuup @voidsteeth @gray-sparrow @dininginspace @benegesseritwitch (no pressure if you’re not feeling it!)

National Museum of Fine Arts x Ramon Lee Panciteria
I do not frequent the city, I just drop by when I need to. Like my previous post about certain restaurants in Binondo, this was again part of my dad and I's must-visit agenda because we were checking out places he would potentially bring his balikbayan (a Filipino visiting or returning to the Philippines) friends to next week when they arrive. As you have probably figured out, he finds joy in being a local tour guide; history and food just invigorates him. AND fortunate enough for me, I get to experience it too (on the sidelines).
National Museum of Fine Arts
Tumblr media
This is the thid time I have visited the National Museum of Fine Arts and it is by far my favorite of all because of the varying collections of paintings and sculptures through different periods of time. It is a place where I could see through dead people's eyes haha I am kidding. To put it less macabre than it actually is, I get to experience history they way these Filipino artists viewed the world during their day. Like my dad, I have a penchant for all things archaic!
But first, kitty duties!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I make it a point to capture cats whenever and wherever I see them! Although these two looked malnourished so it was kind of heartbreaking, I felt even worse that I do not have any food with me. But they have a collar! I am hoping someone IS taking good of them at the very least.

Upon arriving at the museum; passed the security section and registration (did I mention you can enter for free? you just need to present your ID and vaccination card) you will be greeted by this famous and massive masterpiece that is the Spoliarium by Juan Luna. It an exceptionally gory display of the country's fight for prejudice and injustice. If you ask me, the message is still very relatable at present time. It may not be as bloodstained (or is it? as Duterte's EJK come into view) as the colonial period but the struggle for justice and equality still stands strong (or even stronger) today.
Here are some of the pieces that stirred up my emotions:
Tumblr media
The carnage of the first room. The gallery painted with Japanese torment during WWII was the first collection we viewed and it was a traumatic scene of agony and destruction as so many lives and houses were destroyed during the Japanese occupation. The painter left nothing to imagination - humanity's rawness was on display. I was grateful that I did not live to see that day. Pictures were enough to convince me that men are capable of so much evil when they succumb themselves to senseless warfare.
Anemoia (it sounds like a disease haha) is a term coined by writer John Koenig, and it describes a certain nostalgia for a time you've never known. That is how I feel about the 40s and the 50s era BUT the war was one huge reality that I did not want to come up against.
Tumblr media
Ramon Magsaysay was the seventh President of the Philippines from 1953 to his death in 1957. I was always curious about this particular leader of ours as history books spoke of him so highly. An author by the name of Jose Veloso Abueva even described his regime as “the yardstick by which Filipino presidents should be judged.”
In this day and age, you search for things from the past to give you strength to tackle the present and give you hope for the future. There was a time when the country was not always like this - a mess (to put it lightly and to make this less of a political post).
Tumblr media
The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. This was a group of scholars who set the foundations for the Philippine Revolution in 1896. They are called the Ilustrados a term used to refer to the Filipino educated class during the Spanish colonial period in the late 19th century. The three most prominent are Dr. Jose Rizal (our national hero), Marcelo H. del Pilar and Mariano Ponce.

While I was going from room to room, I caught a sight of this view from one of the windows. That is the Department of Labor and Employment building on a small hill looking down on the metropolitan city that is Manila. It was surprisingly clean that day which is not a usual occurrence.

The gallery display of Juan Luna and Félix Resurrección Hidalgo's paintings happens to be my favorite! For me, this was the most approachable collection on a hoi polloi level haha. It exhibited the two artists' work of art during their explorations to different countries like Spain and Italy; it was like a photo album of the places they have been to if you will.
Tumblr media
I rested on some occasions! it was an enormous collection divided into three floors.
Tumblr media
In this photo, I was seated in what used to be the old Senate Senate Session Hall and surrounding it was a mural depicting the history of the Philippines by the National artist, Carlos Botong Francisco.

(Just a few of the shots I took of my dad haha as I was asking him to pose for the camera.)
Ramon Lee Panciteria
Settled in between the busy and narrow streets of Sta. Cruz, Manila is one of the oldest restaurants called Ramon Lee Panciteria which has been operating since 1929.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Back in the day, Ramon Lee, a Chinese immigrant and his wife were famously known for serving their Chinese-style fried chicken and pancit canton. Today, the same combo of dishes are still seen on every table. In fact, that was the very dish we ordered.
Like their food from yesteryears, the panciteria's interior gave off the same nostalgic vibe of the 1920s by retaining the original pink cushioned seats and yellow walls.

Fried Chicken (Whole: P450; Half: P230), Pancit Canton Special (P390) and Shanghai Rice (P320)
Everything emanated a very cozy and homey feeling. Food was again unpretentious and huge in portions that dad and I were were able to take home unfinished dishes.
1919 Grand Cafe
To cap off our meal, we embarked on a polar opposite experience.
Nestled in the corner of Juan Luna St. in Binondo is a Neoclassical edifice which houses the repurposed Grand Cafe 1919. In 1922, it was the former HSBC building, a then heritage jewel.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
To cut to the chase, I would like to say that their coffee and desserts are the cherry on top of an exciting food trip in Manila.
Tumblr media
Muscovado Latte (P180) and Blueberry Cheesecake (P150)
Try it! I am still on the hunt for the snowflake crisp cookie they served together with my coffee! It was just too good that I had a Ratatouille (yes, the Disney animated movie! haha) encounter. The cookie reminded me so much of a delicacy I used to eat when I was a kid called Peanut Broas! Kuhang kuha yung lasa!

hi, i hope everything is alright, how are you lately?
i though a lot about the concepts of the enneagram, since it explains deeply the whys about what we do, and i feel stuck between type 1 and type 9, i am sure about having then in some order as my core (either 9w1 or 1w9)...
i relate to the fairness and perfectionistic side of type 1, since i was young i was very balanced and organized, a little too passionate about justice and i didn't want other peers to make me impure and contaminate me with their... "closed mind", when it was just them being more careless than me! i am usually calm and collected but also not afraid to speak out when i believe the lines have been crossed. i unconsciously judge people and myself in some ways but it's not like i'm harsh, i actually strive to be as educated and gentle as i can with who i know, and pleasant with strangers since i don’t know what they may go through, i can only assume by looking at them, by creating a scene in my mind and see in reality if my scene seems correct, but that doesn’t mean i let them in, i only let in who feels like a good match for me, who i can clearly picture both in my present and future. this may feel like a type 9 imagination... but i am not a doormat at all, i do supress rage most of the time, yes, and i may let it out rarely in a chaotic way and i may not like it but i know that, as i express each emotion, rage can be a powerful tool, it's cathartic and healing, when used the right way. i actively look for ways to change what doesn’t satisfy me and who i care about, but the type 9 inertia resonates with some troubles i am going through, i lately lack the initiative and i am making my family worried since my sane self is more proactive than this. when i am stressed i indulge mostly on food, but i also may do too much self care and swift away from the real problem.
i believe i am a 1 or a 9 sp/so and for mbti... i×fj for sure, i believe isfj is more probable since it's wider in the world population... even if i can't see Si or Ne, i will read better about it in your book (the chapters of both types) and sort it out myself, i will probably come here again and ask if something confuses me, what do you think? thank you so much for your help <3
You sound more 9w1 than 1w9. Gentle and pleasant. :)
