Yeosang doesn’t usually get jealous. He likes to think he’s secure in himself and those around him that he doesn’t need to be jealous. More often than not, he’s calming down those who do get jealous. But this was different.
He kept looking at Yunho and you from out of the corner of his eye. His hands tightened into fists without him realizing. Yeosang didn’t want to cause a scene, but seeing the two of you act close like this was really annoying to him. Did you have to be so close to him? Did you have to smile and laugh like that? Did you have to touch him longer than you’re supposed to?
Now, he knows you’re just doing your job. You’re the hair stylist for Ateez. It was your job to be close and mess with Yunho’s hair like that. But that didn’t mean he had to see you fawn over him like that. Yeosang hated it; he hated it so much. But he couldn’t tell you. And he didn’t want anyone else to know, lest the rest of Ateez tease him relentlessly. But he didn’t want to just sit idly by. This whole thing was infuriating.
Before he could stop himself, he called out, “Y/n, can I have some help please?” Of course, when he said it, it sounded meaner than he intended. He mentally slapped himself for that. He was overreacting and he needed to calm down.
You paused before cheerfully making your way over to him. “Hi Yeosang! What seems to be the issue?”
Well, there wasn’t really an issue, besides the fact that he wanted you to stay away from Yunho. But he needed to think of something. “I don’t really like how my hair looks.”
Again, Yeosang mentally smacked himself for the lame excuse and for the fact that you looked so distraught over his words. “Oh? I thought it looked nice, but don’t worry! I can fix it!”
As you started playing with his hair, he couldn’t help but relish in the feeling of your fingers stroking his hair. It was so relaxing and soothing. He could almost fall asleep in the stylist chair because of it. But you were asking questions and he needed to answer them so he didn’t look rude, even though he was acting like it.
“J-just do what you think is best.” He assured you and you nodded, though you didn’t look all that confident.
Yeosang watched you closely as you played with his hair some more. He was absolutely in love with your concentrated face. He thought it was adorable how your tongue poked out from the corner of your mouth.
Before too long, you had looked a bit different than before. You gave a satisfied smile, which made his heart melt. “There, what do you think?”
He nodded, mirroring your bright smile. “Perfect.”
“I’m glad you like it!” You cheered before leaving to finish Yunho’s hair, much to his annoyance. But he tried to keep it to himself.
“You’re not very subtle, you know.” A certain Wooyoung leaned over to tease him.
Yeosang scoffed though he could feel himself flush at his words. “I have no idea what you’re talking about.”
“Oh sure you do.” He continued. “Everyone and I mean everyone can tell you have a thing for Y/n. And we’re all so proud of you, you know.”
“Don’t you have someone else you can annoy?” He shot back.
Wooyoung gave a dramatic sigh. “I would but San doesn’t want to play with me anymore. So I’m here to give you relationship advice.”
“Yeah, well, I don’t really want relationship advice from you.” Yeosang sighed.
Putting his hand over his heart, Wooyoung gave a hurt scoff. “I’m wounded, Yeosang! But seriously, just talk to her. Odds are she might feel the same way.”
“Not when she has someone like Yunho, aka the perfect boyfriend.” He grumbled under his breath.
Wooyoung was about to make a comment when there was a knock at the green room door. A stagehand alerted them to make their way to the main stage so they could perform. With a disgruntled sigh, he got up and made his way to the door. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw Yunho give you a hug.
Again, he found he couldn’t stop himself from saying, “Are you two done being all clingy over there?”
You all but jumped away from Yunho. “What? Us? What do you mean?”
“I mean you’re always next to each other and being all clingy and annoying.” He explained, kicking himself internally. Why couldn’t he just shut up already?
Yunho shrugged. “Well, considering she’s my childhood best friend and I don’t get to see her often, I try to hang out with her as much as I can. But if it bothers you, I’ll stop.”
Now he felt like the biggest idiot in the entire universe. Without saying a thing, he gave a curt nod before stalking out of the room. He was still beating himself up about what just happened. He wasn’t like this. He wasn’t ever this mean to any of the other Ateez members. But jealousy can do that to a person he supposes. Now he probably made them both hate him forever, which was not his intent.
Someone punched him playfully on the shoulder. “Hey, Yeosang, lighten up, okay?” Yunho assured him. “Y/n and I are just friends and that’s all we’ll ever be.”
“Okay, so?” He huffed.
“So, I’m sure she would love for her crush to confess to her after the performance this evening..” He mused, a teasing twinkle in his eye.
His eyes widened before he pointed at himself, looking dumbfounded. “Wha- ME?!”
Yunho laughed. “Yes, you! So do me a favor and maybe ask her out after this will you? She’s been talking my ear off about you for the past year or so.”
“She’s liked me for that long?!” He practically shouted before covering his mouth.
Again, Yunho laughed. “Yes! Honestly, you both are so obvious about your feelings for each other and yet so oblivious that it’s being reciprocated.”
“Well, why didn’t she confess?”
“She was scared you didn’t like her back, especially with your recent attitude.” Yunho laughed. “Sound like someone else you know?”
A soft blush graced Yeosang’s cheeks as he looked away from him. He couldn’t believe it. For practically a year, the two of you have been dancing around your feelings for one another. If only he knew. If only he was perceptive enough to have guessed it. Then maybe the two of you would have gotten together already.
“Hello? Earth to Yeosang!” Yunho waved his hand in front of his face. “Believe it or not, but we still have a job to do! C’mon lover boy!”
With a scoff, he shoved him playfully. “I’m coming, I’m coming.”
“Just don’t stay too long in the clouds. You still have to confess to her.”
He nodded, already imagining ways to tell her after the performance.
