“Lena I don’t want to hear it!” You growled the words as your girlfriend tried to explain why she had been home so late. This wasn’t the first time it had happened. You knew how she struggled with communicating or losing track of her work sometimes but this was different. She had promised go be home on time. She had promised to share the evening together with you, like you’d planned. She had promised to make the anniversary of your relationship special.
It didn’t matter now anyway. The dinner you’d made sat untouched on the table, stone cold. You didn’t even want to hear her reasoning for being late. You already knew in at heart. She’d gotten caught up in her work and had simply forgotten. Thats how it always went.
In the tense silence that followed, Lena's eyes pleaded for understanding, but you couldn't bring yourself to soften. Frustration and disappointment lingered in the air, wrapping around both of you like an unwelcome shroud. As you stood there, the weight of unmet expectations pressed on your shoulders. The room felt like it was growing hotter. Getting smaller. Everything seemed to sway and swoon as your vision hazed in and you out of focus. You needed some fresh air and you needed it now.
You stormed out of the apartment, the door slamming shut behind you - not even bothering to grab a jacket. The cool night air hit your face, providing a momentary relief from the stifling tension inside. Your mind raced with a mix of anger, hurt, and confusion. As you walked the dimly lit streets, you found yourself at a nearby park, seeking solace under the stars. Looking up at the unknown was always something that relaxed you. The endless possibilities of space. At heart you knew it wasn’t Lena’s fault entirely. She’d come home exhausted just last week as a result of the stress work had been causing her but it just hurt when her work got in the way of your personal lives.
The distant rumble of thunder interrupted your thoughts, and as you looked up at the night sky, raindrops began to fall. The gentle drizzle soon turned into a steady rain, drenching you in seconds. The cool water on your face felt strangely soothing. It was a good kind of cold.
However even the rain seemed to turn on you as you shivered involuntarily and giving a reluctant sigh, you decided to finally head back home. The rain soaked through your clothes as you hurried back, each step feeling heavier than the last. By the time you reached your apartment, you were drenched and exhausted. The door creaked open, revealing the aftermath of your heated argument. It was quiet inside. Lena had most likely retreated to the bedroom into the bedroom. But you were unwilling to face the bedroom just yet, so instead you settled on the living room sofa. It wasn’t warm nor did you have a blanket but sneaking into the bedroom to grab a change of clothes wasn’t exactly something you were eager to do.
Instead you curled up on the sofa, trying to ignore the uncomfortable sensation of the wet clothes against your cold skin. Turning over you let your head fall onto one of the pillows and you shut your eyes, hoping to slip into a peaceful sleep.
The next morning, you awoke with a heavy head and a throat that felt like it had been scraped with sandpaper. The remnants of last night's argument lingered in your mind, but they were overshadowed by the unmistakable signs of an impending illness. Stupid rain. Stupid cold. Stupid lack of a jacket! With a groan, you dragged yourself out of the makeshift bed on the sofa, your body protesting every movement as forced yourself to get dressed for work.
Despite the creeping heat of an uncoming fever seeping through your body, you trudged into the DEO, determined to fulfill your responsibilities as a agent there.
Colleagues shot concerned glances your way, but you brushed them off with a forced smile. The familiar hum of the high-tech agency felt louder than usual, pounding against your throbbing head.
As you attempted to focus on your tasks, the overhead intercom crackled to life. "Agent Y/L/N, report to Director Danvers' office immediately," the stern voice echoed through the facility causing you to grumble in annoyance as you pushed yourself up stumbled towards Alex's office.
Upon entering, you found yourself friend sitting at her drsk, concern etched across her face. "You look terrible," she remarked, her voice a mix of sympathy and scolding. "I've already called Lena. She'll pick you up. You need to go home and rest. You can’t work like this.”
“Ale-“ You couldn’t even begin to sigh her name before you were interrupted with a rough throat scraping cough, “Why did you-“
She raised a stern eyebrow before pulling a bottle of water out from her drawer and sliding it over the desk towards you, “That’s exactly why. I’m not just telling you this as your boss but as your friend. You’re sick. You need to go home. This is not an option.” You knew Alex’s stern voice and this was definitely it. There really was no point arguing with her, she was the director after all.
Lena didn’t take long to arrive. Less than 10 minutes which was very impressive given the traffic at this hour. All it took was one look at you sitting slumped in Alex’s office, your exhausted drooping eyes looking up at her as a box of tissues sat open in your lap to make her heart melt.
Your girlfriend was by your side in an instant, concern etched across her face. "How did this happen?" She crouched down, brushing a gentle hand over your forehead, her keen eyes not missing the subtle way you tensed beneath her touch.
The weight of the previous night's argument lingered in the air, but the genuine worry in Lena's expression softened the edges of the tension between you. She spoke with a gentle tone, "You should have told me you weren't feeling well, darling. I hate seeing you like this."
You managed a weak smile, appreciating Lena's concern despite the strained circumstances. "I didn't want to bother you. Besides, we had enough on our plates with everything - last night - already."
Lena shook her head, her fingers brushing through your hair comfortingly. "You're never a bother to me. We're in this together, remember?" She glanced up at Alex, who had been pretending to make herself busy in order to not intrude on your conversation, "I'll take her home, Thanks for looking out for her."
Alex nodded, her stern facade softening. "Always. Now you two ake care of each other. And Y/N, don't come back until you're fully recovered. That’s an order. I’ll come round tomorrow to check in if you’re feeling up to it.” She smiled over at you.
Lena helped you up, offering a supportive arm as you made your way out of the DEO. The car ride home was quiet at first, both of you lost in your thoughts. Lena finally spoke, breaking the silence, "I'm sorry, Y/N. I know I messed up last night, and I should have been there for you."
You sighed, leaning your head against the car window. The cool glass working wonders to soothe your pounding temples. “I overreacted, Lena. It wasn't just about last night. It's this constant struggle with your work taking precedence over us. I miss us, Lena, and I just want to find a balance." You sniffled.
Lena's grip on the steering wheel tightened, and she took a deep breath. "I promise, Y/N, I'll make it up to you. We'll figure this out together. I love you, and I don't want us to keep hurting each other like this."
As she parked the car, you both sat in almost silence for a moment. The rain from the previous night was still pattering down, drumming against the windows as it filled the car with its steady thrum. Lena turned to you, her eyes sincere, "Let's take care of you first. We can talk about this more later, okay? You’re the most important thing to me right now and right now what you need to be is looked after. So that’s what I’m going to do.”

Flying Home To You
Tumblr media
⁀➷ Pairing: Lena Luthor x Reader
⁀➷ Notes: Cute lil’ idea I had :D
⁀➷ Summary: When you’re flying back home from a business trip, you find yourself jet-lagged. Lena’s here to make it better.
✧・゚: *✧・゚:*✧・゚: *✧・゚:*✧・゚: *✧・゚:*
The plane ride home had been gruelling, and your mind felt foggy as you raised a weary arm to hail a cab to finally take you back to your apartment.
The city lights blurred outside the window, and you could hardly keep your eyes open, resting your head against the cold glass. Turbulence and a screaming baby had kept you from catching up on the day or so of sleep you’d desperately been craving - not to mention the being in multiple time zones in the span of a few days. It had all begun to take its toll of you, leaving you feeling jet lagged and just overall exhausted.
The cab pulled up to your apartment building, and you stumbled out, dragging your suitcase behind you. The keys felt heavy in your hand as you fumbled to unlock the door. Lena must have heard your tired footsteps because she opened the door with such a sweet smile that you were helpless to stop your cheeks from blushing pink.
“Welcome home my love.” Lena purred, pulling you into a deep hug, one which left you melting into her arms. You hadn’t realised how much you’d missed her touch, her voice, her everything.
She took your bag, setting it to the side and she guided you inside, “Let’s get you settled in baby.”
You nodded as her hand came to rest on your back, guiding you over to the living room after you’d kicked off your shoes.
“I’m so glad to be home.” You finally uttered, feeling the weight of the day slowly begin to lift as you let yourself sink into the familiarity of the sofa. It was a little hard to get comfy at first. You’d been sat down for most of the day to the point your legs had started to ache and go numb and then there was that pounding at the front of your head, like someone repeatedly banging on a drum.
Lena was quick to sit beside you, “How was the trip darling? Everything go smoothly I hope.”
You shrugged, “Work was fine, everything went good,” You let out a small sigh, letting your head fall onto her chest as you cuddled up to her, “Those flights was awful though.”
“I forget you don’t like flying, do you?” She sighed, she’d insisted you take her jet and she fly you herself but you’d convinced her the hassle wasn’t worth it just for a small trip. Lena pressed a kiss to the front of your temple and noticed the slight way you winced at the touch, “Your head hurts?” She asked, seemingly already knowing the answer.
“Throbbing.”
“You’re dehydrated sweetheart, that’s why your head hurts.” Your girlfriend whispered, she had noticed the subtle way your lips had begun to chap at the edges - it was your tell. It was how she knew when you hadn’t been drinking enough.
“Maybe.” You sighed, knowing she was definitely right.
She stood up, her hand trailing from your slightly-messy hair before heading over to the kitchen. Lena didn’t take long and she quickly returned with a fresh bottle of water from the fridge.
“Here, make sure you drink, okay?” She mumbled softly, the cold bottle was placed into your hand, “I know how you are about forgetting these things.”
You nodded, lips fastening around the neck of the bottle before taking a slow sip of the cool liquid which earnt a nod of approval from your wife. The gesture was quickly followed by a soft kiss to the top of your forehead and you could feel her gentle hand begin to run through your hair.
The Luthor reached down into her pocket, pulling out a small packet of paracetamol. “You should take these too.” She said, popping two out of the packet and waited for you to take them.
“Good girl, thank you.” She hummed quietly as she took the drink from you and set it aside. The sound was soft and comforting. You found yourself settling into her touch, your hand coming to rest on her thigh as you looked up at her sleepily, “We’ll get you to bed soon, don’t worry. You’ve got nothing to do tomorrow at all, you can sleep as long as you need.”
“Thank you Le’, I’m really grateful for everything.” A soft smile played on your lips as you both settled down into each other’s hold, enjoying the comforting silence of each other.
“Did you miss me?” You broke the silence a few minutes later as you quietly murmured, you already knew the answer of course but just needed to hear it.
Lena smiled, as she let your spare hand come to cup your chin, tilting your head up to meet her emerald eyes, “Of course I did, you know I always miss you.” You felt her kiss your forehead again but this time you sat up, mirroring her touch as you cupped her face before pressing a deep kiss to her cherry lips.
“I really missed you too.”

A/N: I've been feeling a bit little today but I haven't actually dropped, so I kind of fell into a younger mindset for the reader. To the anon that requested a storyline similar to a teenager reader, I can write that one too if you'd like? Just wasn't feeling it today, sorry :)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
*how i imagine their clothing at the end, but you can imagine anything you'd like*
*not my gif*
Many people at school thought you were weird. The fact that you wore these ‘dorky’ glasses and ‘stupid’ clothes was slowly eating away at you. Nobody knew your moms were Supergirl and Lena Luthor, two of the biggest names in pop culture - Lena had kept her publicity quiet whilst Kara hadn’t revealed her identity to the world.
You spotted Kara as you walked out of school, another horrid day of year two eating away at your young and boisterous personality.
“Hi Mama!” You yelled excitedly, running up to her and tackling her in a hug.
“Hello, my darling inah (daughter).” She kissed your forehead before buckling you into your seat, making your jaw drop as a gasp came out.
“Mommy!”
“Hiya, sweetheart.” Lena grinned from the front passenger seat, making goofy faces at you in her mirror as she touched up her mascara.
“Are you ready to go home, baby?” Kara asked after buckling herself into her seatbelt.
“Mhms! Is cousie Esme at home?” You replied.
“She sure is!”
“And Auntie Alex? Auntie Kelly?!”
“Yep and yep!” Lena answered this time, the two of them surprised at your excitement.
“How was your day at school, honey?”
“It was so fun, Mommy! We had somebody come today and I got to pet a lizard! He had a blue tongue too!” You giggled at the memory, looking out of the window.
“That sounds amazing, Y/N/N.” Lena smiled warmly at you, tickling your leg.
As you all made your way back to Lena’s penthouse loft, you immediately ran up the stairs. You threw your bag down, not caring about the stuff inside, and went back downstairs to see everybody.
You tackled Alex and Kelly in a hug, the two of them almost losing the air in their lungs whilst Esme quickly copied Kara so you wouldn’t hurt her. “Hey, little cousie.”
“Hi hi!” You grinned, seeing an assortment of crayons on the table in front of you. “Can I draw you something?” You whispered in Esme’s ear, to which she nodded.
You immediately sat down and began to draw your masterpiece, making sure the sun was in the top corner and the sky was blue. Everybody was on the page in their correct spots, your Mommy and Mama holding either of your hands whilst everybody else stood beside them.
“Y/N, dinner is ready!” Kara called out to you from the kitchen, your head popping up to see everybody making their way over.
You scrambled to get onto your chair at the table, waiting patiently for everyone to sit before you pulled out your drawing. “Look! Do you all like it?”
Gasps and applause came from them all, with the drawing being passed around as dinner was served. You giggled at Kara’s heat vision on the chicken, wanting to use yours but you weren’t quite in control yet.
When Kara got the drawing, she smiled at herself in her Supergirl outfit before putting it on the fridge along with some of your other creations. You enjoyed the dinner consisting of the carbonara pasta for you, whilst others ate from the other dishes on the table until Alex decided on watching a movie.
You snuggled up between Kara and Lena, to which Nia guided a blanket on top of your trio which made you beam at her. “Thanks, Auntie Nia!”
“You’re very welcome, Y/N/N.” She beamed back, kissing your forehead gently before she cuddled up to Brainy.
As the movie played on, you grew bored as you didn’t understand some of the older references, so you decided to draw again. As your mind wandered to what school would be like tomorrow, your drawing began to reflect that. The crayons you used were usually bright, but now they were full of shadows and darkness.
Eventually you grew tired and climbed back up to Lena, having no space to sit between Kara and the noirette, which left you with your toes hiding underneath Nia’s blanket. As you fell asleep, her mind fell into your dream and she watched the bullies teasing you for your glasses and clothes.
When she woke up, however, she didn’t want to disturb Kara and Lena’s special time together, so she kept it to herself and gently manipulated your dream into something more fun and exciting.
———————————————————————
Kara was not expecting a call from your school as she sat in Lena’s office on her lunch break. She looked up at Lena and the two made their way to your school, seeing you sniffling and shaking in your seat.
“Honey baby, what happened?” Kara knelt in front of you, gently wiping away your tears.
You shook your head and your tears poured, making Kara very distressed as she picked you up easily, bouncing you and herself instead of flying like she used to when you were little. She turned to Lena, who had spoken with the receptionist, and gently put you back down in your chair.
“Y/N/N, lovey, we will be right back, okay?” She kissed your forehead, noticing your glasses were crooked before righting them.
She stepped into the principal’s office with Lena, her in a blue argyle style whilst Lena was in her dark maroon suit. They sat down in a set of chairs next to what they could only assume was the other child’s mother and father, the plaque at the end of the desk reading Principal Johnson.
“What happened?” Lena asked, a tinge of annoyance in her tone.
“Ms Luthor, Ms Danvers, this is Mr and Mrs. Kepler. There’s no easy way to say this, but… Y/N hit their son Will and broke his nose.” Mr. Johnson sighed.
Kara’s eyes widened behind her glasses. “What?!”
Lena’s hand fell onto Kara’s in assurance. “Can someone tell us what happened? Possibly what caused the fight?”
“Unfortunately, the teacher on duty wasn’t watching over their spout and only saw the end result.” He shrugged.
Lena immediately stood and opened the door, picking you up from your chair and bringing you inside. You’d never been inside this room before, this was the principal’s office. This was where the bad kids were sent - you weren’t a bad kid, were you?
“Y/N, honey, can you tell us what happened? The silly teacher wasn’t watching and Mama and I want to know.” Lena asked you gently, noticing how the unfamiliar surroundings and new people were scaring you.
“W-Well, I was playing in the sand pit a-and Will came to play. I di-didn’t want to play with him so I said no.”
You looked over at the scowling parents before Kara adjusted her seat so you didn’t see them, only your Mama and Mommy. “Keep going, darling. Take your time.” She cooed, brushing some tear-soaked hairs out of your face.
“N-n he didn’t like that. Mama, he took my glasses!” You took them off and showed her them -  the middle part that rested on your nose was broken.
“Did he break your glasses, honey?” She asked carefully.
“Mhm! He stomped on them.” You sniffled. “I like my glasses. B-But he says he doesn’t like them, ever. And he doesn’t like my clothes either. He says I look ugly in them.”
You watched your Mama and Mommy’s faces fall with sadness, worry building in yours. “No! Didn’t mean to make you sad!”
“Honey, did you punch Will because he called you ugly and broke your glasses?” Kara asked, not even listening to your heartbeat.
You shook your head frantically. “No, Mama! I just pushed him out of the sand pit! He tripped on the side and fell on his face, promise!”
She nodded, carefully taking you into her arms before she readjusted her seat and looked at the other parents who held Will. “Well then I think this whole situation has been sorted. Just a simple misunderstanding.” Mr. Johnson smiled sheepishly.
“I don’t think so.” Lena stood, folding her arms.
You knew this wasn’t soft Mommy - this was Mommy the Boss, and Kara took you outside of the room.
“Will has been bullying Y/N for her glasses and her clothes. He needs to learn that bullying isn’t okay.” Lena stated.
“He’s in year two, Ms. Luthor. It’s nothing more than teasing - he might even like Y/N.” Mr. Kepler replied.
“I expect my child’s glasses to be paid for, Mr. Kepler. And summing up this bullying to something so weird as Will fancying her is wrong. It shouldn’t be okay for this to happen. If this continues, Mr. Johnson, I will pull Y/N out of this school.”
With that, Lena closed the principal’s door behind her, seeing you and Kara in the reception. She immediately smiled at you and hugged you when you made some grabby hands, your head burying into her neck.
“Mommy, can we go flying later?” You asked softly.
“Of course we can, baby. Let’s go home first so we can get our special clothes on.” She answered, which was your code word for the super suits.
You were quiet on the walk to the car, which surprised the two women before they realised you were asleep. “Maybe we can go flying tomorrow.” Kara teased, gently kissing your forehead as she buckled you into your car seat.
You opened your eyes to see everybody waiting for you at home, including Uncle Mon-El and Auntie Imra with Uncle Winn. You ran up to Imra who easily lifted and hugged you, giving you sporadic kisses on your face.
“How about we go and have some fun inside? Maybe we can test out your flying!” She giggled with you.
Whilst everyone else went inside, Nia stopped Kara and Lena. “I’m sorry I didn’t tell you about the bullying.”
They looked at each other before turning to her. “I dreamt about it last night when she was touching me. It was actually terrifying to watch her little mind dream that, let alone comprehend it. I know I’m not a mom, but I wouldn’t make her go back yet.”
“Can you show us the dream?” Kara pleaded, to which Nia took their hands and showed them.
It brought them to tears instantly.
“Oh, baby…” Lena whimpered, running inside to find you in your room.
“Mommy? Mama? What happened?” You asked quietly, watching them kneel in front of you before sweeping you off your feet into their arms.
“We are so sorry we didn’t see this earlier, inah.” Kara cooed, holding you tight but not too tight.
You felt those big emotions surface before tears began to run down your face, squirming further into Kara’s hold whilst Lena hugged your other side. “W-Want ev’ybody.” You muffled against Kara’s shirt.
“Yeah? Everybody?” She asked, to which you nodded.
“Hope?” Lena looked up at the ceiling.
“The members downstairs have been notified of Y/N’s request.” The AI replied.
Soon enough, they all piled in and looked down at your crying form. Nia was the first to start the group hug, with everyone piling on until you felt truly loved.
As they pulled apart, they all gave you an individual hug and some even said some encouraging words. But at the end of it, you turned to your Mama and Mommy and tackled them in a hug, making giggles spread through the room whilst you held them tightly.
“My Mamas.”

Giggles
y/n sucks at waking up in the morning.
I suck at waking up in the morning most of the time Lena has to wake me up because my alarm won't wake me up either she rips the cover off "y/nnnnnnn" she stretched your name out you groan and roll over and she yanks the cover off "lenaaa I'm cold."
or she lays on top of you (that's 1 of your favorites but she will never know) Lena walked in on you absolutely dead asleep she walked over and layed on top of you were on your stomach and her front was on your back she layed there a bit and was just enjoying the moment but then she blew in your ear you rolled over and knocked her off the bed and she screeched "y/n!" you sat up half asleep "yeah" you replied "oh my gosh get ready were about to go to work" she said "ok."
but this morning none of that worked so she tried something else and she though it was hilarious for some annoying reason, but you loved her laugh and her smile, so you were ok with that.
Lena walked in your guys room and you were asleep once again Lena wasn't surprised she walked over and yanked off your covers and layed beside you and called you name "y/n, y/n honey wake up sweetie" she raised her voice a bit higher "sweetie get up" she shook you and tried everything but it didn't work so she cradled you and put her hands on your stomach and tickled you everywhere you slowly woke up and started to smile and giggle "IM AWAKE" you said but she didn't stop "LENA OH MY GOSH" you laughed so hard your stomach was hurting you grabbed her arms and over so u were now on top and tickled her sides and she laughed and giggle but she reached behind her and grabbed a pillow and well you didn't see it she pulled it from behind her and smacked you in the face "AGH lenaaaa" you groaned and fell on the floor she was wheezing like dying of laughter "ok real funny lee" but secretly you were fine with falling on you ass as long as she was happy

The palm-print panel was cool under Lena’s touch. She pressed her hand to the rectangular plate next to her front door and waited for the brief moment it needed to scan her skin. The door unlocked with a meaty thump and she pushed it open with her other hand, absently checking her phone as she stepped inside. As the system scanned her biometrics, it detected stress and dimmed the lights, automatically turned on the television to an abstract screen saver with cool tones, and began to play an arrangement for a violins to soothe her nerves.
She kicked off her heels and walked barefoot into the kitchen, where she skipped the countertop wine cellar and pulled out the half-empty box of Trader Joe’s vintage that she’d taken a liking to thanks to Kara. She pours herself half a tumbler full as a silent fuck you to her mother and took a swig, then walked out into her living room to sit down in the gloom for a few minutes and think.
Supergirl was sitting on her couch, head flopped back over the back so that her hair fanned out across the white leather. She sat splayed with her knees apart and legs out, arms resting on her thighs. Lena wasn’t sure if she was awake.
As she drew closer, she caught a small gasp. Supergirl had a black eye, and there were scrapes on her cheeks and the backs of her hands, the blood barely crusted. Both her hands and her face were bruised and she had a tiny split in her lip.
Lena placed the wine on the table, nerves jangling when the bottom rattled against the pale marble from the shaking of her hand. Her heart raced as she drew closer. Supergirl had taken off her cape and draped it over the couch. It was none the worse for wear but was covered in scorch marks.
Suoergirl’s broad chest heaved once and she let out a long, pained sigh.
“Hi.”
“Hello, Supergirl.”
She let out a little laugh, wincing. “Do we need be so formal?”
“I don’t have anything else to call you,” Lena said, coolly. “Mind if I ask why you’re in my apartment?”
“You don’t lock the balcony doors. You should.”
Lena sighed and folded her arms. “I said why, not how.”
Supergirl didn’t look at her.
“I just got the snot beaten out of me. Everything hurts.”
“I didn’t think that was possible.”
How was it possible? Curiosity tugged at her, but concern shot through it, making her fidget with her hands. Lena hated fidgeting. It made her look weak, and she could still remember the pain when Lillian cracked the ruler across her knuckles to break the habit.
“Can I have some wine?”
Lena swallowed hard.
“Sure,” she said.
She went to the kitchen and poured. When she returned to the living room, Supergirl was sitting up, hunched forward and leaning on he knees. Lena started a little at the sight. Sitting that way displayed the wide, muscular set of her shoulders and arms, especially her meaty biceps. Her back was a rare sight -she wore a cape, after all- and just as exquisitely muscled.
She was looking at her hands, at the damage to her muscles. Lena offered the glass and she took it. Her fingers were warm when they brushed against Lena’s, strangely soft.
Supergirl took a long pull of wine and smacked her lips, then winced.
“It’s times like this I wish I could get drunk.”
“You can’t?”
“Not on wine and not for very long.”
“Interesting.”
“So I have a problem,” Supergirl said. She was still looking at her hands.
“And that is?”
“I have to call off work tomorrow. These will heal, and I’ll look exactly the same. I don’t get scars anymore. But they’ll be visible for a day or so.”
“I see.”
“But I have to get brunch with someone, and they’ll be able to tell. Concealer won’t do much for this.” She touched her eye, wincing.
“Wait here,” said Lena.
She came back a moment later with some wash clothes soaked in cold water on a tray. Hands still shaking a little as she placed it on the table. Tenderly, she took one of the washcloths and dabbed the back of Supergirl’s hands, cleaning away the grime and dried blood from the abrasions.
Supergirl sighed. “That feels good. Thank you.”
“May I?” said Lena.
Supergirl hesitated, doubt flashing deep within the endless depths of her blue eyes, but she turned to Lena and tilted up her chin. With shaking fingers, Lena cupped Supergirl’s face gently and used a fresh cloth to clean and cool the cut on her lip. Supergirl closed her eyes and sighed.
Lena’s eyes wandered up, to the small mark above her eye.
“You don’t scar. Did you get that on Krypton?”
“Yes. I slipped and fell when I was a little girl. You should have seen me. I bled all over.”
“Must be nice, not getting hurt anymore. Not feeling pain.”
“I still feel it.”
Lena paused.
“I feel every bullet and blow and bomb blast just like anyone would,” said Supergirl. Just because it doesn’t harm me doesn’t mean it doesn’t hurt me.”
“I’m sorry. I had no idea.”
“It’s okay,” said Supergirl.
She opened her eyes -eye- and looked at Lena reverently, one pretty blue eye glittering while the other remained bruised shut. She smiled a lopsided, honest smile, looked at Lena in a dreamy, almost adoring way that-
Wait.
“Oh my God,” Lena breathed.
“Hi,” said Kara.
“Oh my God. Oh my God,” Lena whispered. “Oh my God, what happened, how did this happen to you? You’re hurt!”
“I had a tough time with a very determined alien and had to worry about civilians,” said Kara. “It happens.”
Lena’s pulse raced and her breath quickened. Her gaze darted, searching and noticing every detail. She was so beautiful, and she was so Kara.
“Why now?” said Lena. “Why this time?”
“I don’t know.”
Lena bit her lip, and the tiny gesture had a noticeable impact on Kara. Her eyes widened and her gaze fell to Lena’s bottom lip, then flicked back up.
“So your brunch,” said Lena. “That was with me.”
“Yeah. I thought about cancelling but I can’t. I needed to see you now.”
Lena shifted closer on the couch, until they were hip to hip.
“Why?”
“Because I just got punched in the head by an alien with big stupid bone spurs coming out of his fist and I need to see you. I won, by the way. It was really cool. I ripped a fire hydrant out of the ground and hit him with it.”
Lena looked her up and down. Her jaw began to quiver.
“Oh God. Is it worse than it looks? Are you hurt worse than you look, Kara? Are you…”
Kara shook her head, then winced. “No. Not that bad, promise. I just…” she sighed. “I’m tired of going to lay on a sunbed and going back to my empty apartment and spend a sick day napping on the couch.”
Lena let out a slow breath. “So you came to see me.”
“Yuuup,” Kara said, slowly.
Lena shifted awkwardly in her seat. Kara slowly reached over with her now clean hand and curled her fingers around Lena’s chin.
“Lena?” she whispered. “Is this okay?”
“Yes.”
Kara turned and leaned into her, pressing the slightest, lightest kiss to Lena’s lips, not a quick peck but something slow and soft, warm and inviting.
“Ow,” Kara muttered.
“Kara,” Lena whispered.
“I have any idea. Since I can’t make brunch… how about breakfast?”
Lena leaned against her, gently draping her arms around her as they fell back into the soft cushions together.
“Okay.”

Kara's favourite time of the day had to be the small hours of the morning. The times when she would wake up at one or two in the morning and Lena had just gotten back from work, or she got up to get a glass of water or any other reason that caused them to be awake at the same time.
She loved those hours because Lena was always sleepy at that time, and when Lena was sleepy, Lena was soft. She was warm and cuddly. In that moment all she wanted was to be in bed cuddled up to Kara and that made Kara feel warm inside.
She loved having Lena lay against her, pulling her closer, as if Kara alone could keep her warm, which with Kara's unearthly body heat, wasn't far from true.
Kara loved how as soon as Lena got into bed she would instantly move her cold feet towards Kara's calves to warm them up.
Kara loved how Lena always buried her head in the crook of her neck and bundled the front of Kara's shirt in her fist as she tried to pull her closer.
Kara loved how sometimes Lena would throw her arms over Kara's back and then put her hands up her shirt and rub lazy circles on her back.
Kara loved how in her sleepy state Lena mumbled the most random and absurd things like, "You're fluffy" "You feel floopy too?" Or Kara's personal favourite, "You make me feel mushy inside"
Kara loved how she knew that Lena felt safe in that moment. It overwhelmed her heart with joy because she knew that she was the reason Lena felt safe. She was the reason Lena used words like floopy and mushy. She was the reason Lena was warm at night. And it brought tears to her eyes that Lena had allowed her to be that person to her.
Kara loved the conversations they had when both of them were on the verge of falling back asleep, but they still wanted to talk.
She loved how Lena always listened so intently to her for as long as she could concentrate and keep her eyes open.
She loved how raspy and raw Lena's voice was and how they spoke so softly even though nobody else could hear them.
She loved how they giggled softly while whispering to each other like giddy little school girls, gossiping about what they saw or found out that day
She loved that this was a side of Lena that nobody else got to experience. She loved that Lena only whispered into the darkness with her. She loved that Lena only giggled over stupid jokes and silly dreams with her. She loved that only she got to enjoy the delight that was Lena's raspy voice in the morning. That only she knew that if you woke Lena up in the middle of the night and she was not yet fully conscious, she spoke with a thick Irish accent.
She loved the times when Lena would get back in bed and instead of whispering an amusing comment, she would kiss the side of Kara's neck.
She loved it when Lena would giggle softly in her ear before placing a kiss behind it and asking her, "you asleep darling?"
Kara loved that when she replied "no", Lena would lift her head from Kara's shoulder and look her in the eye's before placing the most feather light kiss on her lips.
Kara loved when Lena just let her hands roam her body, but especially loved the moment when she was able to explore Lena, who she already knew better than the map of the small town she grew up in.
She loved listening to all the sounds Lena made. The softs pants and moans. The whispered curse words and encouragements for Kara to do more. Her favourite of course had to be when Lena would whisper "I love you" into her shoulder.
Kara loved that she was the only one who got to indulge in these moments with Lena. She loved that she was able to make Lena feel good, that she was the one making Lena say all the things she was saying. She loved that even in the early hours of the morning, in their dim lit bedroom, Lena found her attractive.
But mostly Kara loved that no matter how they spent those small hours, when they woke up the next morning Lena would always seem more content than other days. She claims it's because, "I got to spent a few more extra minutes awake with the love of my life." And Kara doesn't care what the reason is, she just loves to see Lena happy.
So she pulls Lena flush against her and whispers "five more minutes" and laughs at Lena's expected groan and constant protest of "Kara you can't keep saying that every five minutes, every morning" despite the fact that she too just wanted to stay in bed with Kara all day.
Kara loves the small hours of the morning because she gets to enjoy Lena in ways that nobody else gets to, and she thinks that that's an absolute privilege.

Always (supercorp)
Lena has nightmares every night and only Kara can keep them at bay.
or
Kara finds every excuse to spend the night in Lena's bed so that Lena can sleep.
a soft, fluffy and angsty supercorp fic.
Tumblr media
Lena lay in bed, her eyes heavy with exhaustion, but her mind stubbornly refusing to give in to sleep. Night after night, the same haunting nightmares tormented her, a relentless loop of horror that had become all too familiar. It had been a month since that dreadful day when Lex had blown up a building and then turned his madness towards her.
The scar on her stomach throbbed, a constant physical reminder of that traumatic encounter. She traced her fingers over the faint line, a painful memory etched into her skin. Closing her eyes, she could vividly recall that nightmarish moment. The memory played out like a horrifying movie reel in her mind.
Lex, his face contorted with manic rage, covered in sweat and soot from the destruction he had wrought. His eyes glinted with a dangerous intensity as he approached her, a knife concealed up his sleeve.
"This is your last chance to join me, sister," his voice dripped with a chilling mix of desperation and malice.
Lena's response had been firm and resolute, her voice unwavering, "Never."
Lex lunged at her, the knife flashing in the dim light. The searing pain as the blade sliced through her flesh, the shock and disbelief that followed, and then a wave of darkness that enveloped her as her vision blurred and her body gave way.
Just as the darkness threatened to consume her completely, a distant voice penetrated the void. Kara's voice, a desperate scream that pierced through the fog of unconsciousness. But Lena was already slipping away, unable to fight against the pull of oblivion.
Back in the present, Lena's body finally succumbed to its overwhelming fatigue, her eyelids drooping as her thoughts continued to race. She fought against the encroaching sleep, desperately clinging to consciousness. But the battle was a losing one, and eventually, her mind gave in.
The nightmares returned with a vengeance, a macabre tapestry of fear and torment that painted her subconscious in vivid shades of terror. The sound of explosions echoed in her ears, and the memory of Lex's crazed expression haunted her once more. Lena thrashed in her sleep, trapped in a nightmarish cycle that seemed impossible to escape.
As the nightmares intensified, Lena's eyes snapped open, her body drenched in sweat, heart racing. She was back in her room, the dim light casting eerie shadows on the walls. Gasping for air, Lena realized that the room felt suffocating, the weight of her memories and fears pressing down on her. She sat up, her breathing ragged, and rubbed her temples as she tried to shake off the residual terror. She knew she couldn't go on like this, trapped in a cycle of sleepless nights and haunting dreams. But finding a way out seemed impossible, her trauma a prison from which there was no escape.
Exhausted and defeated, Lena lay back down, her eyes staring blankly at the ceiling. She longed for respite, for a moment of peace, but she knew that the night was far from over, and the nightmares would likely return once more. With a heavy sigh, she braced herself for another sleepless night.
The following night, Lena slid into bed and found herself staring at the ceiling, her heart racing, her breath uneven. She couldn't bear the thought of closing her eyes, of succumbing once more to the terrors that awaited her in the realm of dreams.
With a sigh, she reached over to turn off her lamp, plunging her room into darkness. But just as she settled back against her pillows, a soft knock echoed through the room, startling her. Lena's heart skipped a beat, her body tensing as she cautiously got out of bed.
She padded across the room, her breath catching in her throat when she saw the familiar sight of Kara standing on the balcony, clad in her Supergirl suit. The moonlight illuminated her tousled, windswept blonde hair, and the suit accented her lean physique and the well-defined muscles beneath the suit. Her blue eyes shimmered in the night, and her lips curled into a beautiful smile that made Lena's heart race.
"Kara, hi. What are you doing here?" Lena managed to say, her voice barely above a whisper.
Kara's smile widened, her eyes glinting with a playful sparkle. "Hey, Lena. I was on patrol nearby and I'm absolutely exhausted. Do you mind if I crash here?"
Lena's mind was a whirlwind of emotions, but all she could muster was a simple, "No, not at all."
Lena let Kara into her penthouse. Kara often crashed at Lena's after game nights or movie nights but this felt different somehow.
Lena handed Kara a pair of her sweats and a t-shirt, their fingers briefly grazing against each other, sending a shiver of electricity through Lena's veins.
"Thanks, Lena," Kara said appreciatively before disappearing into the bathroom to change. Lena watched the closed door, her mind a whirlwind of thoughts. She took a seat on the edge of her bed, the anticipation building as she waited for Kara to emerge.
The moments ticked by, each second feeling like an eternity as Lena's heart raced. The quiet rustling of fabric signaled Kara's return, and Lena's breath caught as she looked up to see Kara stepping out of the bathroom, dressed in Lena's clothes. The clothes were slightly short on Kara, exposing a tantalizing glimpse of her toned abs. Lena's throat went dry, and she swallowed hard, her heart pounding in her chest, her fingers itching to trace the path of those well-defined muscles..
She had always known that her feelings for Kara ran deeper than the love one felt for a friend, a truth she had carefully kept hidden behind carefully constructed walls of friendship, but in moments like this, she struggled to keep her feelings at bay.
Normally, Kara would retire to one of the guest rooms, and Lena had assumed tonight would be no different. But to Lena's surprise, Kara moved with graceful purpose, sliding into Lena's bed as if it were the most natural thing in the world. Despite the many nights they had spent under the same roof, Kara had never slept in Lena's bed. This was something Lena had never even dared to imagine, even in her wildest dreams.
With cautious steps, Lena slipped under the covers, settling beside Kara. The bed seemed impossibly small, the space between them charged with an electric tension. Kara turned onto her side, facing Lena, and Lena mirrored her position, their gazes locked.
"Goodnight, Lena," Kara whispered, her breath ghosting over Lena's lips before she closed her eyes.
"Goodnight, Kara."
Lena found herself acutely aware of Kara's presence beside her. With her eyes closed, she tried to find a sense of calm, allowing the rhythm of Kara's breath to guide her.
As time passed, Lena felt herself gradually relaxing, the softness of the moment easing the usual restlessness that plagued her nights. The fear of nightmares still lingered, but it felt distant.
She felt herself surrendering to sleep. The sound of Kara's steady breathing became comforting.
In the quiet darkness of the room, Lena's consciousness slipped away, her mind finally finding a respite from the torment of her past. As sleep claimed her, the usual nightmares were conspicuously absent.
--
The soft, warm rays of morning light gently filtered through the curtains, casting a serene glow over the room. Lena stirred, gradually awakening from the depths of slumber, her senses slowly coming to life. The sensation that enveloped her was one of warmth and security, a comfort she hadn't experienced in a long time.
She realised that Kara's arms were tightly wrapped around her and her body was pressed against Lena's back, their forms fitting together as if they were two pieces of a puzzle perfectly aligned.
Lena's heart danced within her chest as she felt Kara's breath ghosting against the back of her neck, a sensation that sent shivers of delight down her spine. The intimacy of the moment was intoxicating and left her heart racing dangerously.
Kara stirred beside her, her movements slow and gentle. Lena could hear a soft, almost inaudible mumble from Kara, the sound of her voice tugging at Lena's heartstrings. "Oh, sorry," Kara's voice was a gentle whisper.
Lena felt a twinge of disappointment as Kara began to extricate herself from their embrace.
As Lena turned to look at Kara, her eyes were met with a sleepy smile that seemed to illuminate the entire room. Lena's heart skipped a beat as she took in the sight of Kara's tousled hair and the soft lines of her face.
"Morning," Kara's voice was soft and sleepy.
Lena's fingers itched to reach out, to brush away the hair that had fallen across Kara's forehead, to trace the delicate curve of her cheek. But a sense of shyness held her back, a lingering hesitation that reminded her of the boundaries Lena had always maintained.
--
Over the course of the next two weeks, Lena's life took an unexpected turn. To her immense surprise and relief, Kara seemed to find a reason, however small, to spend every single night in Lena's bed. It was a pattern that quickly became a comforting routine. Each evening, as the world outside dipped into the embrace of night, Kara would slip into Lena's bed, a shield against the haunting nightmares that had held Lena captive for far too long.
Lena's waking moments became increasingly filled with the sense of Kara's proximity. She would wake up each morning wrapped in Kara's strong arms, the gentle rise and fall of her chest against Lena's back serving as a soothing reassurance. The nightmares, which had once been an unrelenting torment, remained at bay, their usual grip loosening with every passing night.
Lena reveled in the comfort of Kara's embrace and her eyes often lingered on Kara's serene features as they lay tangled together under the covers. Yet, amidst the warmth of Kara's presence, Lena was fighting her feelings.
Lena's feelings for Kara deepened with every night they spent together, the lines between friendship and something more becoming more blurred each night. She found herself captivated by Kara's laughter, drawn to the way her eyes sparkled when she shared stories of her day, enchanted by her bashful grace.
But Lena couldn't ignore the growing questions that tugged at her thoughts. Why was Kara staying over so often? The skepticism that had once colored her perception of others now cast a shadow over her moments of happiness. Lena's heart raced, her mind a whirlwind of uncertainty as she tried to make sense of the situation.
One evening, as they sat together on Lena's couch, wrapped in a blanket and sipping tea, Lena's resolve solidified. The time had come to breach the subject that had been gnawing at her. She looked at Kara, her gaze a mixture of curiosity and concern. "Kara, is everything okay?"
Kara turned her head to meet Lena's eyes, her expression serene yet guarded. "Mm, yes, why?"
Lena's lips twitched into a half-smile, the tension in the room palpable. "You've spent the last fourteen nights here. Is there something going on? Not that I don't love having you stay over—I really do. But if you're having problems with your apartment or something, I can help."
Kara's blue eyes flickered, her gaze momentarily shifting before she leaned in closer to Lena. Her fingers, warm and tender, slipped beneath Lena's shirt, tracing a path over the jagged scar on Lena's abdomen. Lena's breath hitched as Kara's touch sent shivers of sensation through her.
"You know every night on patrol, I fly past your penthouse to check on you? Just to listen to your heartbeat and make sure you're okay." Kara's voice held a mix of vulnerability and sincerity, her fingertips mapping the contours of Lena's scar as if tracing a roadmap of the past. "Especially since everything with Lex, since he hurt you. I heard your nightmares every night, Lena, and it pained me to see you so broken. And when I stayed over that first night, I noticed that the nightmares didn't come. So I thought maybe if I stayed over, you could sleep better."
Lena's eyes glistened with unshed tears as Kara's words sank in, the depth of Kara's care astounding to her. She felt a lump forming in her throat.
"Sorry," Kara continued, "I know I should have told you, but I know you would think that I was inconveniencing myself or something. But I'm not. I want you to be okay, Lena, and I'll do anything for you. If I could undo what happened, I would. But I can't, so this is something I can do for you."
Lena was speechless. Tears pricked at the corners of Lena's eyes as Kara's words washed over her, a wave of emotions crashing against the walls she had carefully constructed around her heart. Kara's selflessness had left her utterly stunned, and Lena realized that no one had ever cared for her so deeply, so unconditionally before. She couldn't hold back the tears that spilled from her eyes, the floodgates of her emotions breaking open.
Kara. Sweet Kara. Always there for Lena, always looking out for her. Lena had never felt such profound love before.
Moved beyond words, Lena leaned forward, her heart pounding against her chest. Her hand found Kara's, their fingers intertwining. Kara's gaze on her held her captive.
The floodgates of vulnerability opened, and before she could think, before she could second-guess herself, she acted on the feelings she had been hiding for so long.
Lena leaned forward, her heart pounding in her chest as she pressed her lips against Kara's. The kiss was a confession, an unspoken declaration of every feeling she had hidden behind those walls for so long.
Kara froze for a second and Lena's heart stopped, but just as quickly, her lips began moving against Lena's- a soft, desperate kiss. There was a vulnerability in the way Kara kissed her back, a raw honesty that stripped away any doubts Lena may have had. Her heart felt like it was going to explode. Kara was kissing her back and in that moment, nothing else mattered.
Time seemed to stand still as their lips moved against each other. Lena's fingers trembled as they found their way to Kara's cheek, her touch gentle and filled with wonder. The taste of Kara's lips was a revelation.
As the kiss finally drew to a close, Lena pulled back slightly, her eyes fluttering open to meet Kara's gaze.
"Thank you," she whispered, “for being here.”
And Kara smiled that blindingly beautiful smile, and whispered, "Always" before crashing her lips against Lena's once more.

DC Comics Women Taking Care of You when You Get Your Period
Pairing: Kara, Lena, Diana, Harley, Talia, Selina x Fem!Reader
Tags: fluff, period, hurt/comfort, teasing, cuddles, baths, kissing
A/N: Sweet, caring, dangerous... I want them all.
KARA
Really wants to help you but is scared to touch you in a wrong way. You're already fragile as a human, and you're already in pain. If she hurt you more she'd never forgive yourself so the most she will do is carry you from one spot to the other, warm you up when you get cramps and kiss right above your stomach.
LENA
Is fully equipped with everyone you might need. She know what you want to eat, your cravings, the type of tea you drink, and has your favorite comfort food place deliver you food. Will drop her meetings if you're in too much pain because she can't focus when she thinks of you curled up on the bed with her not being there to kiss you.
DIANA
Has a lot of experience taking care of period pains. With her upbringing she's learned a lot about how to make things better for other people. She'll treat you gently, she'll bring you to a warm bath and even help you wash up properly, the blood doesn't bother her in the slightest.
HARLEY
Tries to take your mind off the pain as much as she can. You may not want to do a lot physical activities when you get cramps but she will record herself while she's out shopping for you so you get a feeling like you're there with her. Plus then you can tell her what kinds of pads you like most, unless you want her to take boxes upon boxes.
TALIA
Won't tell you to grin and bear it like she's been told to. As soon as she sees the blood stained sheets she goes into protective girlfriend mode, which isn't rare but she's not often as soft. She will visit you every hour and ask you if you have everything you need, if you want her company for a while, if you do she will gladly stay.
SELINA
Kisses her way down your stomach in a way that makes you whimper but she doesn't go past the band of your underwear. Even now she teases you but she won't make you uncomfortable with her advances. There will be time for more intimate activities but for now a good massage might do you a lot of good.

Y/n: Good morning, thank you.
Lena: I have a day off today as promised. So, what are you up to? Where do you wanna go? I'm going to take you anywhere. Shopping? Hiking? Cycling? Visits? No work, just a day with my wife.
Y/n: That is so thoughtful of you, love, but I just want to stay at home and get fuck by you.
Lena: We can do that too! Definitely and totally! Should I take tomorrow off too? I love you.

╚════════ ⋇⋆✦⋆⋇⋆✦⋆⋇ ════════╝
Lena Luthor struggled to stifle an exhausted groan as yet another hour crept slowly by. This was not where she wanted to be right now. She’d promised Kara she’d be home in time for dinner, and yet here she was, forced to sit in a meeting with an insufferable group of egotistical men who thought they knew everything when in reality they were hardly worthy of her time.
Her chair seemed to grow more uncomfortable with each passing minute, and the conference room's cold, sterile atmosphere did little to soothe her growing discomfort. Subtle aches had begun to creep into her joints, and she felt herself shift uncomfortably, trying to suppress the shivers which run up her arms. A persistent sniffle and a raspy cough betrayed the merciless cold she’d been trying so desperately hard to ignore.
Lena clenched her jaw, her already frail patience wearing thinner as she tried to distract herself from the now-arguing men. Nobody could seem to argue on what to do with an upcoming project and being the only woman in the room, her views weren’t being taken seriously despite her obvious experience and seniority.
Finally, after what felt like an eternity, the meeting concluded with a tentative plan in place. She wasted no time in gathering her belongings and making her exit from the conference room. The men's constant condescending glances and dismissive attitudes had severely grated on her last nerve.
With an exhausted sigh, she glanced at her phone and saw it was nearly half an hour past the time she’d promised Kara she’d be home by. Swallowing back the tightness in her throat that seemed to had grown gradually worse as time passed by, she hooked her purse over her shoulder and made her way out of the building.
The cold hit her almost immediately, her already exhausted body wracked by unpleasant shivers making her wish she hadn’t forgone her coat this morning. Knowing there was no point in dwelling on that bad decision now, she simply climbed into her car and turned on the heat before reaching for her seat belt.
Lena couldn’t help but out a frustrated groan when she felt her nose beginning to run, blindly she reached over for the small pack of tissues she’d purposely left in the passenger seat that morning. But when all she was greeted by was an empty packet, she accepted her fate and knew that her only other option was the sleeve of her blazer. With a crinkled brow -because yes, she knew this was disgusting, she briskly wiped her nose and purposefully avoided looking at her sleeve afterwards. Gross...
The closer she got to home; the more Lena could feel her discomfort growing. She was freezing, yet her skin was slick and damp with sweat. Her nose was running again despite it being completely blocked and there was a faint pounding at the forefront of her head telling her that a migraine was well and truly on its way.
She doesn’t want to cry, yet she felt her eyes burn with the familiar sensation anyway. Stubbornly ignoring the tickling sensation, the resolute tear had left in its wake, she pulled into her private parking space before turning off the car.
With a heavy sigh that quickly developed into a disgustingly wet cough, she grabbed her things before exiting her car and made her way towards the front door of their shared home. She was immediately greeted with the sight of Kara lounged lazily on the couch, phone in her hand and feet propped up on the coffee table.
“Hi baby,” she hears, but she couldn’t quite find it in her to return the sentiment as she dropped her things to the floor and kicked off her heels. Her chest was burning, her nose was dripping, and she was sweating so much - she felt absolutely repulsive.
“Why are you late?” Kara continued, Lena hearing her set her phone down before rising to her feet.
Lena rubbed at her temples as she finally allowed herself to break. “Because Kara, I have a company to run, now will you please stop talking!” She snaps, the tears in her eyes finally falling, “I'm apparently the only person in this whole fucking company who knows how to do their fucking job!”
“Woah! I just asked if you were okay- I didn't-“ Kara began to stutter, utterly gobsmacked at her outburst. Never once had Lena ever snapped at her or sworn like that before.
“Just stop!” Lena was beyond exhausted, and her tone came out hissed and aggressive. It hadn’t meant to be that way, not at all, but everything just seemed to catch up to her all at once, leading the sniffling CEO to drop to her knees and sob.
Kara's concern immediately replaced any annoyance she might have felt at Lena's outburst. She rushed over to Lena, kneeling beside her and wrapping her arms around her shaking form, “You’re okay, you’re okay baby I promise.” She soothed in a hushed whisper, slowly rocking back and forth as she tried to calm down her girlfriend.
Lena's sobs continued to wrack her fragile frame as Kara held her close, her own heart aching at the sight of her girlfriend in such distress. Lena's outburst had caught her off guard, but she knew that when someone bottled up their feelings (as Lena tended to do) they always find a way to break the seal and burst out. This wasn’t her fault.
Lena's sobs gradually subsided into soft hiccups as Kara held her close, offering comfort and warmth. Her shoulders trembled as she sniffled weakly, and her eyes were now red and sore from crying.
As they sat there, Lena body suddenly shivered with a sneeze that caught her by surprise. She desperately tried to turn away from Kara, but it was too late. Lena's eyes widened in horror as she realised what had just happened.
"I- I didnt mean too- I-," Lena began to cry again as her voice caught in her throat, sending her into a deep spluttering cough.
She expected her girlfriend to pull away, to grimace, gag and look at her in disgust. But she didn’t. Kara didn’t even flinch, instead she kept a hold of her, running a gentle arm around her waist, pulling Lena in closer again, continuing to slowly rock back and forth, an action which steadily calmed the fever fuelled distress coursing through her body.
“Alright my love, let’s get you out of these damp clothes, okay? And then we’ll get you some medicine.” Kara murmured after a few moments, pulling Lena slightly away from her so she could tenderly cup her cheeks to rid them of tears. As gross as it was, she even uses the sleeve of her own shirt to gently wipe the mess gathered above her cupid's brow before placing a soft kiss to the spot just between her eyebrows.
Lena couldn’t even find it in her to be grossed out by her girlfriends' actions, tired eyes drooping in pure exhaustion. She did no more than nod her head as she leant into Kara’s touch, allowing the gentle ministrations to momentarily sooth her.
Without a word, Kara rose to her feet bringing Lena with her, looping her arms beneath her backside before taking slow, careful steps towards their bedroom. She could feel that Lena was a complete dead weight in her arms, and she silently thanked her super strength that was easily supporting her before she carefully placed Lena down onto the small amount of counter space between their sinks.
Taking residence in the space between her parted legs to keep her unsteady body upright, Kara reached over for the tissues they kept on the small bathroom shelf and pulled two out of the box. Lena doesn’t make a peep as she was prompted to blow her nose, and Kara knew then and there, as she flushed the soiled tissue and washes her hands that her girlfriend was well and truly sick.
Lena was extremely stubborn and had been since they had first started dating, and no amount of persuasion from Kara had ever convinced her it was okay to let her be vulnerable.
With a concerned frown, she reached up for the buttons of the blazer and makes quick work of unbuttoning them.
“Sit up for a second baby.” She prompted, and Lena sniffles quietly as she complies and allowed her suit jacket to be pulled off. Her shirt beneath was saturated with sweat, and she feels herself wanting to sob all over again when she realises just how disgusting she must look.
“No no, none of that.” Kara’s voice brings her out of her thoughts as she untucked said shirt out of her slacks and begins unbuttoning it, Lena met her gaze with a guilty look, eyes damp once again shiny with tears that were threatening to fall.
Kara smiled knowingly as she finally as she undid the last button and helped guide Lena’s arms out of it, before tossing it into the laundry basket along with the blazer.
“I’m so disgusting right now.” Came the small almost inaudible whisper.
“I could never, ever find you disgusting,” Kara momentarily paused amidst her task of helping Lena undress and instead reached forward to cup her cheeks. She tenderly trailed the pads of her thumbs over her girlfriend’s warm, flushed skin, her heart melting when Lena instinctively seemed to lean into her touch. “You’re beautiful. Sick, or not, and don’t let me hear you say otherwise.”
“Can I?” Kara rubbed Lena’s knee and pulled on the slick fabric, asking for her permission, to which the Luthor nodded weakly, and Kara slowly unbutton her pants before gently pulling them off. An action which revealing damp, clammy skin beneath a sharp contrast to way Lena was currently shivering, a clear sign of her fever.
“Let me check that temperature of yours darling.” Kara murmured as she moved to the small cabinet above the sink, retrieving a digital thermometer. She turned it on and waited for it to beep, indicating it was ready to use. With care, she moved closer to Lena, tucking a loose strand of hair behind her ear before gently inserting the thermometer into Lena's mouth.
"Keep it under your tongue, love," Kara instructed softly as Lena complied, “Sorry, I should really upgrade and get one of those new ear ones, but this’ll have to do for now.”
The pair sat in silence for a minute or so, Kara watching the digital display anxiously as if her gaze would speed the device up somehow. When the thermometer beeped again, she was quick to remove it and read the temperature.
“Oh baby.” There was a noticeable shift in Kara’s tone as sympathy smothered her words, “We need to bring this down a little sweetheart, I really don’t like how warm you are right now.”
“Here, this might help," Kara whispered, her fingers brushing Lena's cheek with a delicate touch before she reached over to take the washcloth sitting on the counter. She ran it under the cold water to cool it down before gently wiping Lena's forehead, the coolness offering a momentary relief from the feverish heat.
“Kara, you don’t have to do this.” Lena mumbled, her words a little slurred - whether from her fever or just plain exhaustion was up to anyone's guess.
Kara simply shook her head at the self-deprecating attitude of her girlfriend as she moves the washcloth down to feverish cheeks.
“You’re right, I don’t.” She agreed as she takes Lena’s hand and gives it a soft squeeze, “but I want to, because I love you and I know you would do the same for me.” She knowingly adds, and Lena smiles slightly, just a soft quirk of her lips, proving Kara’s words to be correct.
“Now, let’s get you some medicine,” Kara stated as she reclaimed her prior space between Lena’s now bare legs, giving one a loving squeeze as she pulled open the medicine cabinet door.  “Tylenol for that fever and cold medicine for your congestion.”
Lena tried not to complain. Really. She did. But the thought of taking that putrid cold medicine had her wanting cry and before she knew it, her eyes once again burn with welled up tears.
“Shh, I know,” Kara lovingly murmured as she fills the small cup with the allotted dose, “But it’ll help baby. You know that, yeah?” She offers it out, and whilst a tear does fall down still flushed cheeks, Lena allowed her to bring the cup to her lips.
She swallowed with a small grimace and was quickly rewarded by a gentle peck to her nose. The Tylenol follows the same pattern, she gulped the water handed to her, the cold-water doing wonders on her aching throat.
“Alright baby. Ready to head to bed?” Kara asked after slipping both medicines into her sweatpants pockets, placing her hands beneath Lena’s underarms in preparation to lift her should it be wanted.
Lena sniffled wetly as she nodded her head, allowing Kara to lift her up into her arms just like she her earlier. With a fond smile, Kara placed a kiss to the sick woman’s shoulder before making her way into the bedroom and easing Lena down onto the end of the perfectly made bed.
After a quick change of her underwear -bra excluded, Kara slipped a pyjama shirt over her head and coaxed her arms into the sleeves.
“Pants, or no?” Kara asked as she reaches up to brush a damp strand of hair behind Lena’s ear, laughing softly when Lena immediately shakes her head with a disgruntled frown. “Okay baby, into bed you go.” She once again slips her hands under Lena’s arms and easily hoists her tired frame up the bed until her head meets the pillow.
Lena leant back and nestled against the soft pillows, her overworked body feeling heavy and exhausted as Kara tucked her in gently, pulling the covers softly around her, making sure she was snug and warm beneath them.
"Thank you, baby," Lena whispered quietly, her strained voice evident as her tired eyes looked up at Kara apologetically. “I’m really sorry I snapped at you earlier. You were just trying to help, and you really didn’t deserve that.”
Kara's expression softened as she sat down on the edge of the bed, leaning in to press a gentle kiss to Lena's forehead. "Love, I promise you it's okay," Kara replied, her fingers gently brushing through her hair. "I know you’re not feeling very well right now. You had a really stressful day at work, we all have our moments. I'm not going to hold it against you, it’s already in the past and forgotten”
Lena offered a faint, grateful smile, her eyes heavy with fatigue as she nuzzled against the blonde’s touch, “You're too good to me Kara,” she murmured quietly, trying to hide a sleepy yawn beneath the blankets, “Always there to help.”
Kara's thumb brushed over Lena's cheek as she replies, "Well, that's what girlfriends are for, right? Taking care of each other." She pauses for a moment, looking deep into Lena's eyes. "Listen, I'm going to take a sick day tomorrow. I don’t want to leave you alone by yourself. We can stay in and just have a day in bed.”
Lena's eyes widen with surprise and gratitude. "You don't have to do that, Kara. Your work-"
Kara interrupts her with a tender smile. "You’re more important than any work could possibly ever be." She leant in to place a lingering kiss on Lena's lips, conveying all her love she ever needed in that one small, simple gesture.
Lena's heart warmed a little at her words, "Thank you," she whispered again, letting her eyes slowly fall closed as the pull of sleep gently began to tug at her
Kara eases herself under the covers beside Lena, wrapping her arms around her and pulling her close. "You don’t have to thank me sweetheart," she murmured, her lips brushing against Lena's temple. "Sleep now love, I'll be right here when you wake up."

When the Sun Sets on Us
Pairing: Lena Luthor x fem!reader
Summary: Lena meets Y/N a very successful but cutthroat lawyer and media mogul she’s smart, funny with a fiery side, witty and of course drop dead gorgeous her outfits are always on point and she never misses a beat(imagine younger and nicer Cat Grant x Diana Prince) after working a couple contracts with her, Lena starts to fall for this mysterious woman and before she knows it she’s head over heels in love.
***************************************************************
You were in an important meeting with a new high profile client and felt your phone buzz in your blazer pocket, at first you ignored it until you felt it again, you turned your wrist up to read the message on your watch. The green bubble flashed revealing a text from none other than the Lena Luthor:
Hey not sure what your up to but can you call me when you get the chance?
and then another
I'm sorry I called your secretary and she said you were in an important meeting, we can talk later when you're free.
You two had worked on several lawsuits together when her brother ran Lexcorp, so you were on a first-name cell phone number basis, but she never texted or called when you were at work. Someting must be up you said to yourself.
You looked down the table at one of your coworkers who gave you a questioning look, motioning to your watch, they gave you a nod and you excused yourself to your office. You nodded to your secreatary and she knew not to interrupt. You picked up your phone dialing Lenas number it rang twice before she picked up.
"Hello?"
"Y/N?"
"Yea, Lena what's up?
"Nothing it can wait you are supposed to be in an important meeting."
"Well, the upside of being one of the best lawyers in the country and having my name on the firm is that I have some very competent lawyers to run these meetings."
"Okay, I think I need your help."
"You think? What's going on Lena?"
"It's my mom, now that Lex is locked away she wants to take over the company, she against the rebranding, she's also in league with Morgan Edge."
"So..."
"So I'm trying to fight her but they got some of the best lawyers and I can't compete, I need some help."
"Well the good news is she has good but you have the best, I'll be right over."
"Thank you Y/N."
This was your job, you typically dealt with criminal court cases but sometimes you got high-profile clients that, that included CEOs of Fortune 500 companies, sometimes it was big or sometimes it was just the media causing stink and then you would come in and clear everything up, you've helped build reputations and also destroy some. you quickly grabbed your purse and left your office, meeting your secretary.
"Ms. Romero please redirect everyone to my cell if they need anything dyer otherwise tell them I'm dealing with an impportant client."
"Yes Ms. Steele, may I ask who?"
"Ms. Lena Luthor."
"Yes Ma'am I'll put it down, do you need meetings covered?"
"Yes, Mr. Leone is with Mrs. Valentino is with in the meeting now, if you could have them both take my meetings that would be great."
"Sounds good." You turned to walk away but then turned back and fished through your purse.
"Oh and Alexia thank you...." You continued to fish through your ourse grabbing your wallet and pulling out a card. "Here love, it's my card, go get dinner for the three of you it's going to be some long nights, and you all deserve a treat. I'll be sure to come back and check in on everyone though."
"Thank you Ms. Steele!" She said almost stunned.
"Call me if you need anything, and also it's Y/N." she nodded nd you left.
--- time jump ---
You pulled up outside of Lexcorp and quickly parked looking in the irror to make sure you looked good, making your way inside. After the first couple of doors you were met with guards, one held his hand out stopping you.
"I'm sorry Ms. we need to see ID unless you have an appointment."
"Yes, I am here to meet with Ms. Luthor I'm her lawyer, Y/N Steele." before the guard could say anything her secretary came running around the corner apologizing and quickly pulling you towards the elevator, she hopped on and took you upstairs to Lena's office. She handed you a badge and told you to scan at the door as she quickly retreated back to her vast desk. you scanned and heard the lock click quickly opening the door.
When you entered you saw her, Lena Luthor, with long and silky raven hair tied back in a ponytail, her maroon suit hugging her perfectly in all the right areas, she was absolutely gorgeous, but you could see the stress plaguing her features as she paced back and forth behind her desk.
"Lena?" you called pulling her out of her thoughts.
"Oh thank God you're here," she said a sigh of relief coming from her. You walked over set your purse down and laid your coat over the chair.
"So tell me whats up,"
"It's my mom, she wants Lexcorp now and she's sided with Morgan Edge to get her hands on it, promising shares for some dirty work."
"First that's illegal, and I can nail them for insider trading if we can prove it..."
"Well she's been running an... well... no never mind," she said with a shake of her head, little did she know that you knew about CADMUS and the underground lab and experiments, you were secretly DEO for crying out loud.
"You can tell me anything."
he looked at you like she was going to tell you but then you saw that she quickly covered, "She's been spinning the media hoping that they run me out of the company."
"Well, it's good you called because this is my forte straightening out the media and winning these cases."
"I didn't know who else to call," you saw a thin water line come to her eyes, "you're the only one I can trust right now."
You smiled gently at her, "Lena Luthor I promise not to break that trust."
---time jump---
Here you sat in a big corporate office with you and Lena, the other side of the table was full of corporate lawyers, Morgan Edge with his minions, and of course Lillian Luthor.
"Lena this is childish, why don't you just hand over the company rights it's not even yours to begin with."
"Because mother, I was meant to take over Lexcorp and my first step will be rebranding, it's now going to be Luthorcorp so I can bring some respect back to the name.
"Oh foolish girl, you were never a Luthor, you were just another charity case for my husband, you might as well just give me the company, so Morgan here can expand Edge industries.”
“Mother…” Lena tried to reason but her mother knew exactly what to say slowly chipping away at her.
“Mrs. Luthor I would choose your next words very wisely.” You said your cold demeanor seeping through the professionalism, no one deserves to be treated like that.
“Oh and who might you be?”she asked rhetorically, “Lena’s glorified guard dog? Hmm or just the eye candy she keeps around the office, I’ve crushed many careers and aspirations under my boots and you would be no exception.”
“Well I guess it’s good I wear stilettos then,” you smirked a fire in your eyes tempting her. “And I would also like you to know that I’ve never lost a case, and I won’t start today.”
“Well Lena you know how to pick them, where’d you find her acting in broadway or in a back alley.”
“Actually mother she’s from Steele and St. James, I hire only the best not these cheap side hustlers.” She sat back crossing one leg over the other.
“Yes did I forget to mention my name, I’m Y/N Steele,” Lillian eyes stayed on you but you could feel them losing their electricity. “I have a proposition, you allow Lena to keep the company and I allow you to keep these.” You slid a file across to each of them, Morgan squirmed in his seat and Lillian looked up at you mouth agape.
“I believe that can be arranged.” Lillian croaked.
“Good because I would really hate to use that.” You stared back unwavering. Lillian reached over and grabbed the documents signing the company over to her daughter, and quickly leaving. But not before ripping Lena apart.
“I’m not sure what dirty games you’ve played but after this you’re no longer my daughter, you were fine as another charity case but from this day forward your not apart of the Luthor family.” She shot at her and then exited.
Lena quickly retreated to her office and you gathered everything and followed, as you stepped in you saw her staring out the window. You set eveythung down on the table and walked towards her rubbing her back in soothing circles, tears rolled down her cheeks.
“You know I never wanted this I always wanted to help people, save lives with science. I never saw myself running something like this.”
“I’m sure you’re going to do great.” She turned and looked into genuine eyes and a gentle smile.
“Y/N, Thank you.”
“no need to thank me this is what I do.”
“I…well… you’re amazing at it.”
“I try my best.” You stood turning to walk away but she grabbed your arm turning you towards her.
“C… can I…I need to tell you something.”
“Anything you know you can tell me anything.”
“I, well, god Y/N.” She reached up pulling you into a kiss, holding your face, she turned to pull away and you pulled her hips in closer.
“I’ve been waiting to do that for so long.” she said leaning her forehead on yours. You chuckled softly, “why didn’t you?”
“Because you’re Y/N Steele, one of the most successful lawyers in the country, you never miss a beat, never lose a case, your style is impeccable, and you just have this power over people.”
“especially you?”
“Especially me, I vowed to never trust people because again I was so hurt and you showed me I can love and trust again. At first I wasn’t sure but after a few months I tried finding every reason to see you but I always served so determined I didn’t want to distract you.”
“Oh love you’re the prefect kind of distraction.” You placed a kiss to her forehead.
“I love you Y/N.”
“I love you to Lena Luthor.”

Supercorptober Day 3: “Kara”
__________________________
When she first meets Kara, she remembers thinking “what a beautiful name”.
And then Lena remembers how her breath caught in her throat when she looked into the most beautiful blue eyes she had ever seen, and she knew in that moment Kara was not anyone she was going to forget anytime soon.
At first, Kara was just interviews and polite conversation over tea and coffee. But she was also a very attractive woman and easy on the eyes, so who could blame Lena if she secretly looked forward to their occasional interactions?
Lena soon came to find that Kara was unlike anyone she had ever met. Kara was genuine in a disarming way, in that way that almost seemed too good to be true - but time and time again she proved that she truly had no ulterior motives - she quite simply just wanted to be Lena’s friend. Lena, self deprecating as ever, couldn’t understand why Kara was so determined to nurture the tiny seedling of their fledgling friendship, but she found herself helpless to resist Kara’s radiant smile and the joy that it brought to her life (or the way her heart beat just a tiny bit faster every time she looked at her).
Before long Kara was weekly lunches, and kombucha dates and spin classes, and text messages with silly stories and pictures that sometimes made Lena laugh until her sides hurt. And then there were the hugs - so many hugs. Lena didn’t think she had ever been hugged so much in her life, but suddenly she couldn’t imagine her life without them, without getting to feel the way she felt when Kara’s arms were wrapped around her.
Kara was warmth and comfort personified, like snuggling up in a soft blanket in front of a fire on a cold day.
Kara was shy smiles and playful smirks and cheek splitting grins. She was long rambling sentences and clumsy stumbles and the endearingly awkward way she always fidgeted with her glasses. She was pizza and ice cream and movie nights, silliness and laughter and bad puns that Lena loved even though she pretended not to.
Kara was a cardigan-clad wrecking ball who unexpectedly smashed down every wall Lena had painstakingly erected around her scarred and wounded heart, walls she put up long ago to keep herself safe… but somewhere along the way Kara had become her safe place, her sanctuary. She felt protected and cared for… and for once, truly loved. Perhaps not in the same way she ever so slowly found herself falling for the charming blonde, but loved nonetheless.
(Because Kara was also the butterflies in Lena’s stomach, and she was stolen glances and sweaty palms and Lena’s nervous habit of biting her lower lip. She was the rapid beating of Lena’s traitorous heart, and affectionate smiles that tried to say what Lena could never find the courage to put into words).
Kara was sunshine, pouring light into all of Lena’s darkest places, banishing the shadows lurking in her soul with gentle but confident assurances of better days ahead. Kara was hope and perseverance and finding the silver lining in every cloud. She was everything good and true in Lena’s life.
Until she wasn’t.
In the blink of an eye, Lena found herself struggling to stay afloat in a raging sea of doubt and confusion, suddenly questioning everything she thought she had ever known. And the one person who could possibly save Lena was the one pushing her head under the water, drowning her in lies and betrayal.
So Kara was Supergirl. She was a goddamn fucking superhero. A so-called symbol of goodness, a supposed paragon of virtue.
Supergirl was “hope, help and compassion for all”.
How ironic.
All Lena felt was hopeless and helpless, all other emotions gone numb aside from the simmering hatred and rage threatening to consume her.
Kara was now nothing more than secrecy and deception. She was cowardice and regret and misplaced trust. Kara was the dull knife blade twisting in Lena’s back. She was the proverbial wolf in sheep’s clothing, an imposter hiding behind a carefully crafted mask.
Kara was Lena’s heart fractured into a million jagged little pieces, ripping her insides apart and leaving her raw, exposed, vulnerable. Broken and bleeding.
Alone.
Kara became silence. The aching hole in Lena’s chest, an emptiness that nothing could fill.
Kara became endless nights finding the bottom of a bottle of expensive scotch, and crystal tumblers shattered against walls when the pain became too much to bear.
Lena wanted so desperately for Kara to become a distant memory, nothing more than a warning to her future self, packed away in a tiny box in Lena’s mind. But no matter what Lena did, Kara was still there, like a stubborn stain on a white shirt.
As time went on, Lena began to liken the feeling to the experience of getting a tattoo. Her emotional tattoo of Kara was a swirling design of pastels mixed with bold and vivid colors, rife with personal significance and symbolic of so many deep and indescribable emotions, both good and bad. And even though it was initially inscribed on her soul with gentle hands and a delicate touch, it still left her heart red and raw, covered in angry scabs that were so easy to pick at even though she knew it would only cause her more pain. But it would heal eventually, as long as Lena allowed it to. The pain would slowly fade away, leaving behind a permanent manifestation of memories both beautiful and bittersweet.
Simply put, as Lena had come to discover, Kara was unforgettable. No matter how much Lena tried to hate her, the truth was she loved her too much to ever let her go. And once Lena finally came to terms with that truth, she decided it was time to stop fighting what was clearly a losing battle.
Lena was finally ready to heal.
Lucky for her, Kara was ready to heal too.
And like dipping her toes cautiously in the edge of the water before diving in, little by little Lena let Kara back into her life.
Kara was different, and yet the same. Kara was layers for Lena to peel back one by one, finding her old friend still there alongside another Kara she had yet to meet.
Kara was forgiveness and second chances. She was the return of weekly lunch dates, and getting to know each other all over again. She was hope renewed, both of them learning to trust again and learning to be honest with each other.
Kara was previously untold stories of Krypton, and Lena’s realization of how the burden of Kara’s trauma weighed so heavily on her broad shoulders. Kara was deep sorrow, and fierce protectiveness, and a deep-seated sense of duty and determination to never let Earth or her loved ones befall the same fate as her former home. Kara was vulnerability, opening up to Lena about her past regrets and deepest fears. Lena learned to recognize the distant pain in Kara’s eyes, how well she hid so much of herself from everyone. And Lena learned to comfort the real Kara, in the same way she realized Kara had always been there to comfort her in her own darkest hours, even when Lena had taken it for granted.
Kara was the overwhelming urge Lena had to learn to speak and read Kryptonian just so that Kara would feel less alone. To be someone she could proudly share her culture and heritage with.
Kara was once again the destruction of the walls around Lena’s heart - but unlike before, the walls come down slowly, brick by careful brick. And this time, Kara’s walls came down too. When they finally had no more walls between them, together they took the bricks and built a bridge between their souls.
“El Mayarah,” as Kara would say. Stronger together.
Kara was once again light and laughter and the one person who could always make Lena smile. She was cuddles on Kara’s couch and spontaneous adventures and Lena finally overcoming her fear of flying. Kara was the confidence Lena needed to start a new business and make her own mark on the world.
Kara was all the affection and longing in Lena’s heart that never truly went away, and only grew stronger the deeper Lena dove into the surprising complexity that comprised all of Kara’s personas.
Kara was still butterflies and blushing cheeks, but now she was also the internal battle between Lena’s overwhelming desire to know if her love for Kara could ever be reciprocated, and Lena’s desperate need to never lose Kara as a friend again.
Kara was the impossible dream Lena finally dared to dream. She was a leap of faith, a trust fall, a plea to the heavens for a blonde haired angel to be the one waiting to catch her.
And now.
Now Kara is the first name Lena says in the morning and the last name on her lips at night. She is the shoulder Lena cries on, the strong arms that hold her close and keep her safe. She is promises and candlelit dinners and sweet whispers in her ear.
And now, as they lace their fingers together, and Lena stares lovingly into those beautiful blue eyes before pressing a gentle kiss to Kara’s impossibly soft lips, Lena can say she knows without a doubt who Kara is.
She is the missing puzzle piece that completes her, the glue holding all of Lena’s broken pieces together. She is the daily warmth and affection that fills Lena’s mended heart to overflowing.
Above all else, Kara is and always will be home. Just like she will always be Lena’s perfect partner at game night, and she will always be the person who takes Lena’s breath away, who makes her feel like the luckiest woman alive. And if there is one thing she knows for certain, it’s that Kara will always be the love of Lena’s life.
Kara really is a beautiful name.

Few moments in Alex’s life would stick out like this one. There was a rising panic in her throat, pulsing against her airway. Panic and grief gripped her like icy hands, working to strangle, and she wasn’t sure if what she choked down was a sob or vomit. Her hands trembled as they held the paper. She hadn’t thought of this.
The letterhead read simply, PAST DUE- FINAL NOTICE.
With everything going on, she’d simply forgotten about the matter until she swung by the loft. She should have sent Kelly, should have set up something earlier to deal with this. Kara was six months behind on her rent and she was going to be evicted if she didn’t pay.
Which she never would.
Alex had quietly accepted, about a month ago, that Kara wasn’t coming home, that all their methods had been exhausted, that her sister was lost in an infinite, shattered Phantom Zone, never to be found. She’s finally gotten the martyrdom that she’d been unknowingly seeking since she arrived on Earth.
She was keeping it bottled up, because the others still believed, even Brainy, who had to know the odds.
Alex seethed with a towering rage. There were some nights when, lying awake in Kelly’s arms, she’d fantasize about how she’d punish Clark for failing Kara, or what she’d do to Lex Luthor if she got her hands on him. Sometimes it would even be J’onn she raged at, or Lena.
She saved them all so many times, threw her life and body and soul in front of all them as a shield and took on their misery and suffering on top of her own, and though it was like drops cast in the ocean of Kara Zor-El’s grief, she felt every blow, every loss. Alex’s falling tears stained the letter as she thought of every time Kara paced this apartment, excoriating herself for her failures whenever she couldn’t be in five disasters at once.
Alex didn’t want her to be a superhero. She didn’t want that need to throw herself between others and their own suffering to consume Kara’s life, but it had.
Not for the first time, Alex wished that Kara had just stayed on the ground and let her plane crash. It was a selfish, hateful impulse. Kara would never have let it happen and even if she had, something would have prompted her to put on that red and blue costume and fly. It was what she was for.
Alex raged anyway. Fuck that little shit Wynn for making her a costume. The little pervert probably just wanted to make her try shit on to see her half naked. Fuck J’onn for recruiting her, fuck Clark for abandoning her… and… and…
The paper crumpled and so did Alex, sobbing. This was all her fault. If only…
“Alex?”
She hadn’t heard Lena come in. She’d long ago given up heels. Hell, shed given up. She was a wearing a hoodie that Alex knew was Kara’s and her hair was in a loose ponytail at the base of her neck, and if asked when she last ate or sleep, she’d have lied. Alex already knew the answer: she ate when someone remembered to feed her and she slept on a cot in her lab as she tortured herself.
Lena was the only one that Alex couldn’t rage at because Lena was already punishing herself. Kara would be furious if she knew how they were letting Lena treat her health.
Without a word, Lena gently grasped the letter and Alex released it.
Lena read it, frowning.
Then she pulled out her phone.
“Jess, I have a task for you. I’m going to send you a pic of an eviction letter. I want you to pay off the back rent.”
“Lena,” Alex began.
Lena waved her off.
“I want the building. Set up some shell companies. No one can know it’s me. Try to negotiate so it looks legit, but they can name their price. I want it done by tonight.”
Lena hung up.
“This is her place,” Lena said, softly.
“You didn’t have to do that,” said Alex.
“Yes, I did. This is her place. She deserves to come back to it,” Lena dropped onto the sofa beside her. “I will never give up. I don’t care if I’m still trying to bring her home when I’m old and gray, it’ll be worth it to see her one more time.”
Alex felt a wave of grief overwhelming her.
“Besides,” Lena forced cheer into her voice. “I spent a billion dollars so I could hang out with her at work. What’s an apartment building?”
Alex jolted. It was as if she watched a wine glass, which had toppled and shattered and cast its contents across the floor, leap back into position. As if the shards of crystal returned to their proper places and the cracks sealed, and the wine splashed back to its proper place, not a single shimmering golden drop lost. When the understanding snapped into place, it was like a lightning bolt. She felt too large for her skin, and the fine hairs at the back of her neck stood, as though bearing a charge.
Holy shit. Holy fucking shit. Lena was in love with Kara.
She could see it now. The love radiated from every pore of Lena’s skin, undulled by the grief that draped her like a nighted cloak, as gold shimmered untarnished beneath dust. Alex’s heart was about to break again.
“I have to get back to the lab.”
“Why are you here?” Alex said, softly.
“I was… I’ve been spending the night. I should have asked. I’m sorry.”
“Kara would want you to.”
Kara would want you to move on, Alex thought. She would want you to find someone and be happy and think only of her in fond memories. She would gladly martyr herself for you, too. You above all. She never stopped defending you even when…
Now there were two wine glasses, side by side, almost touching but not quite, promising a toast unsaid.
Oh.
Oh God.
Alex launched off the couch and threw her arms around Lena, holding her tight. Lena recoiled a little; she seemed to dislike hugs, almost like she didn’t understand them, even as she’d melted in Kara’s embrace dozens of times.
How had she been so blind?
“We’ll get her back,” Alex said.
“We will,” said Lena.
Later, Alex stood off to the side, her veins singing with unbridled joy after Kara released her from a full on, no-powers bear hug. She watched as the others embraced her and slapped her back and welcomed her home while Lena stared at here like she couldn’t believe she was real.
Limping, haggard, Kara suffered their joys with quiet reserve, pushing a little closer to her ultimate destination with each one until she stood in front of Lena.
The hug was awkward, tentative, but Kara thrust herself into it after a hesitant moment and Lena molded against her, the pair standing cheek to cheek a beat too long. Lena pulled back and Kara pulled after her, leaning in, only to dance back and do that awkward little shift.
“Kara,” Alex blurted. “For fuck’s sake, just do it.”
Kara looked at her, wide-eyed and a little betrayed. Kara was beyond honest to a fault: Alex knew that after Kara nervously told her about the infamous “I flew here on a bus “ incident. Kara was honest to the core of her very being, sickened by the act of lying.
To Alex’s surprise, it was Lena’s hands on Kara’s shoulders that turned her away. Kara looked back and her and Lena brought her hands to Kara’s cheeks, resting her palms against the abnormally pale skin of her face. Kara froze for two heartbeats and then gently put her hands on Lena’s sides and pulled her in, there bodies slotting together as their lips found one another, Kara leaning over Lena a little more with the added height of her boots as Lena collapsed into her, tears glittering on her cheeks. The kiss carried on until Alex cleared her throat.
Everyone in the room was stunned save Alex.
“Guys,” she said, “let’s give them a little privacy, huh? We can celebrate later.”
As the others filed out of the room, Lena raised her head from where it had lain on Kara’s shoulder and mouthed a silent thank you.
