Found this recently and had to think about Strike Back. And Blindspot. Both of course because of Sully. So, if you had to choose for the Series, which pill would you take for Strike Back and which for Blindspot?

I am in love with the idea that Lorne (from sga obviously) and Baxter (from strike back) are brothers. Like, both are great and underutilized characters. And while I'm on the subject it provides a great fix-it for Baxter's death. Am I probably one of like 3 people who cares about this? Yes. Am I going to be focusing most of my writing energy on little snippets with the two of them? Also yes.

Behind - from The Secret Portal Part One (Maddie POV)

I snuck up behind her before tackling her in a hug. Kelsey yelped, but laughed, giving me a semi-hug back; the best she could give from the awkward angle. “Hey, Maddie,” Kelsey greeted, taking her backpack off the chair she saved for me and moving it to the floor. She removed the pods from her ears and shook her head to knock her short, choppy hair out of her eyes, but her bangs just fell back in her face. I took the now-empty seat next to her. “Your glasses are smudged.” Kelsey removed them and rubbed them on what I hoped, for the safety of her lenses, was a cotton shirt.

Yell(ing) - from The Secret Portal Part One (Ash POV)

“Best grilled cheese sandwich?” Noelle stopped, thinking. “Sourdough, Cheddar and Muenster, sliced tomatoes, sauteed greens, sliced pear, ham, and cut into two diagonal pieces.” Silence. I peeked into her mind. “Could you by any chance make that sandwich sometime?” Noelle smiled slightly. “Sure.” “Told you Muenster was the best,” Liam said. “Which means, I win.” This ensued more overlapping yelling.

Couch - from The Secret Portal Part One (Lexi POV)

Carla and a taller, older boy were sitting on the larger couch. The boy—or maybe young man—held what appeared to be a granola bar in his hand, out of a wrapper. A world of dragons and portals and they still have regular food? On the table in front of him sat a plate with other unwrapped granola bars set on top of it. Jeez. He wore earrings and a red beanie-like hat with a green fringed jacket over an orange crewneck. His bright blue eyes against his skin tone reminded me of Maddie. Based on the state of the room, I couldn’t help but wonder if these two lived alone.

“The rules of this exercise are simple,” said Wade from the other side of the room. “The goal is to remove the other team’s necklace. If your necklace gets taken, you cannot get it back—you are out. You can attempt to incompacitate your opponent, but the ground rules is that you can’t knock them unconscious. We don’t want any serious injuries.” “Boooo!” Jazlyn and Parker said from next to me. Wade gave them the bird from across the room. They just returned it.

I realized I was staring when Akash smiled. “You’re new around here, aren’t you?” When I didn’t answer, he added, “You want me to help you down?” I nodded, and Akash wrapped his arm around me. I flinched slightly—a cute boy was touching me!—but allowed him to do so. I let go of the vent and let him fly me to the floor. I suddenly realized I had wrapped my arms around him. I quickly pushed away from him. “Thanks,” I muttered. I glanced off to the side and panic ran through me when I noticed a bed. I could feel my cheeks turning red. I just fell into a cute boy’s room! As if I wasn’t embarrassed enough.

Shelby giggled as she reached for a cookie in the center of the table. “And what happened next?” I sniggered, trying to hold my laughter in so I could tell the story. “So—” I burst out laughing. Shelby rolled her eyes, but while smiling. “So, Mr. Taylor got mad at Jasmine for not playing soft enough and?” “And—” I took a deep breath, trying to keep calm. “And Jasmine said, ‘Mr. Taylor, I wasn't even playing!’” Shelby burst into a fit of laughter as her dad walked into the dining area.

Day 2: Date Night

Wanted to write a fic for them, I didn't have that much time today though and I'm not all that used to writing fajfafskfc.

Dates were a rare occasion for the couple.

With Jaden usually busy working on streaming and doing things for her games and Baxter always in his office helping out couples. The two weren’t all that free to have some time out together. Outside of the occasional ‘sit on the couch and do nothing for an hour’ whenever they had the opportunity.

Today was different though.

The day before, the couple found out that they both had a rare day off. They scrambled to plan where to go. Eventually deciding to take the morning casually and then go out for dinner to a restaurant that recently opened up nearby.

It was a pretty expensive restaurant with a lot of good reviews despite it being relatively new to the area. Although Jaden and Baxter weren’t really struggling for money, they didn’t usually go out to expensive places like this.

Morning had been relatively calm, Baxter and Jaden decided to sleep in. Baxter did have to slowly get dragged out of bed by Jaden once 12pm hit which she deemed around time to get started for the day. Which may or may not have gotten them a sleepy glare from the charming wedding planner.

Afternoon was spent on the couch, where they both ended up watching some trashy reality tv. They hadn’t really paid attention to it at the start but by the end of it both were arguing on which contestant would win.

“It’s clearly Liam who’s gonna win their hearts! I mean look at them, clearly lovestruck!”

“I wouldn’t be so sure, Marie is getting quite close with one of them.”

“Isn’t the purpose to steal both of their hearts?” Jaden asked, she wasn’t really paying attention when the rules of the game were explained.

“No, it is simply to get at least one of them to date you.”

Jaden looked a bit sad at that, “But then what happens to the other person? Will they just be left without a date?”

“That is unfortunately how this show explained its premise.” Baxter said to Jaden, who continued to root for their contestant.

Baxter’s pick eventually ended up winning the show, leaving a slightly sour taste in Jaden's mouth, but she eventually decided that it was just tv, reality show or not.

After a bit, the couple realized that night time was approaching, and so was the time they planned to get ready for their dinner date. The two dressed up in the fanciest clothes they owned and headed towards the restaurant.

The car ride was mostly silent, listening to the radio that was playing the same song for the hundredth time this month. Silence between them stopped being awkward at some point, no one knew when exactly it happened, but the lovers found some sense of comfort in the silence after a while.

…

Baxter eventually slowed the car down as they reached their destination. A deceptively small looking restaurant with a glowing sign titled “The Golden Plate.”

Jaden exited the car, her formal blouse and skirt flowing in the wind as they looked towards the location. “I honestly thought this place would be bigger.” She said, looking towards the man who had more expertise in fancy things.

“Appearances can be deceiving, and the size of the establishment rarely ever affects its quality.” Is all he said before offering his hand to Jaden as they walked towards the front entrance.

The inside was beautiful, a bunch of lights hanging from the ceiling and reaching the floor was at the center of rows of fancy tables and seats with wealthy looking couples all around. There was no doubt that this establishment was for those who had money to spend.

It didn’t take long before the two were guided to a table, the restaurant only took reservations so the wait times weren’t as long. The couple sat at their chairs and started looking at the menu.

Jaden may have slightly regretted going to a place like this after seeing the prices but she eventually decided that it was a treat for the both of them. They didn’t usually have this opportunity after all.

She did slightly chuckle after seeing a certain item on the menu.

Baxter, not being a mind reader, only gave his significant other a confused look. “Perhaps I have missed a sort of joke on the menu?”

“Oh I just saw that a bellini was on the menu. Reminded me of that time at the interactive play.” Jaden smiled fondly. She could never quite forget that night- which was the case for most moments when Baxter was involved. The man always got her to experience new things, and even if she had done it before he somehow found new ways for her to experience it.

Her fiancé only gave out a sigh, “That baby bellini will never escape me will it?”

A quiet laugh escaped Jaden’s lips, “No, no it will not.”

“Alas, I do happen to be our driver. So I unfortunately have to skip out on it this time.”

The rest of the night was filled with small chatter, what eachother had been dealing with at their jobs, a few future plans for vacations, and other things. It never really mattered what they talked about.

…

Time passed quickly, and the couple eventually left the restaurant with slightly lighter pockets and mostly filled stomachs.

As they approached the car, Jaden spoke up, “It’s still pretty early y'know, do ya think we could go find a park or something?” She wasn’t quite done with the night yet. This was a rare occasion after all.

Baxter pondered the idea, his client did cancel out of their morning appointment tomorrow. It wouldn’t hurt to spend a bit more time outside. “Sounds like a splendid idea, do you perhaps have any experience with this area?”

All he got with that was a deadpan look from his soon-to-be wife. “We can just look it up.” She said, while pulling out her phone from her pocket. “There's a park that’s kinda nearby.” She showed her phone to him as he memorized the address.

“Great, shall we head towards it then?” Baxter gave a smirk while setting up their car’s GPS.

“Of course.”

…

After some driving around and a few wrong turns, they both ended up at the park. It was decently lit for how late it had been.

The two started to walk around on the path, passing the occasional late night walker. None of them said a word though. Jaden was lost in thought and Baxter was waiting for her to perhaps say something. Reserved to just look at the night sky as his partner thinks.

Minutes passed without a response, which eventually just lead Baxter to take the lead.

“Did you have any idea’s on- “ he didn’t even have enough time to finish his sentence before Jaden dragged him to the grassy patch.

Jaden hadn’t really thought it all through though, and midway through- maybe because of a combination of Baxter’s lack of preparation and Jaden’s heels on the grass, the couple eventually fell into the soft dirt. Leaving Baxter shocked and Jaden laughing.

“That’s certainly one way to give me a heart attack.” Baxter said after recovering from his surprise.

Jaden stopped laughing and smiled, “I used to do that to Cove a lot back when we were kids.”

“Give him heart attacks?” Baxter smirked as he turned to face Jaden.

He got a playful slap on the shoulder for that, “You know what I mean.”

The couple laid on the grass for a while after that, silently looking at the night sky. Their clothes were a mess by that point and they didn’t think about how they were ever going to clean them for their own sakes.

That didn’t really matter to them at that moment though. What mattered was that they were together, enjoying each other’s company. It may have taken them a comically long time to finally be together and the future ahead of them might not be too bright, but days like today always made it seem worth it.

Start - from The Secret Portal Part One (Gwen POV)

Thinking about them filled a deep, righteous fury as Dr. Asghar reached for the door. She let go of my left arm, so I jabbed my elbow into her gut. She yelped and I broke free. The time I spent running paid off when I shot down the hall, the balls of my feet carrying me across the gray tiled floor. I silently thanked the gym coaches forcing us to run thirteen laps. I heard Dr. Asghar and Dr. Moon run after me, but I didn’t stop. I had a good head start and was faster. I reached the vase I’d seen and gave a mental apology for knocking it over. Dr. Asghar swore loudly as I skidded around the corner and ran down that hall until I realized I reached a dead end. I whipped around but saw Dr. Asghar and Dr. Moon at the start of the hallway. I froze. “Where’d she go?” Dr. Asghar asked, panting. “I don’t know,” Dr. Moon said. He looked around. “She had to have turned here. Her powers must have activated.” I stood there in confusion. Looked behind me, looked back at them. What powers? How could they not see me? I decided not to think too much about it and be thankful that they couldn’t while trying to make my heavy breathing quiet down. “Let’s go back to the lab,” said Dr. Moon after a moment, turning around. “She could be demonstrating several abilities. I can name four off the top of my head.” He smiled. “Actually, seven! I’m curious to see which one it is.” Dr. Asghar huffed, but followed her colleague back around the corner. “Sorry about the vase,” I heard Dr. Moon say. “Who cares? It was my uncle’s. Good riddance!” I heard a sound that implied Dr. Asghar kicked a shard of the vase that bounced off the wall. “Eight!” I heard Dr. Moon exclaim. I could almost hear Dr. Asghar roll her eyes.

Taste - from The Secret Portal Part Two (Jedi POV)

“Hello, Alium,” the girl said. “What you are currently seeing is being broadcasted across every holoscreen in the world. No, there is no way to turn to another channel. My name is Raissa Kamanzi, and I am an Inutilia.” Murmurs began to ripple throughout the room. I found myself sitting up straighter, listening to every word this girl had to say. Rin and Jeong-Suk had turned in their seats to watch the broadcast. “I speak to you to bring a stop to how my people have been treated,” Raissa continued. “First, I want to tell you about myself. I was a certified genius at age three. I got a degree in dimension mechanics when I was twelve years old. I managed to hijack every holoscreen in the world for you to hear my message. There is nothing useless about me. There is nothing useless about any of us. My people are frankly sick of being treated as such. We are tired of the segregation, the attacks, and bigotry targetting us. You have no idea how much pain and suffering you have caused.” “Turn this damn thing off!” a Quinque man shouted as he stood from his seat. “Go back to Druz’ya Sem’i!” “So we have banded together,” Raissa continued. “We have decided to give you a taste of your own medicine.” “Did you hear me?!” “Sir!” an employee shouted. “We cannot change the channel!” “Turn off the holoscreen!” “I appear before you today to announce the existence of our new organization: The Refuga Alliance.” “No!” a Tribus woman shouted. “She has every right to speak!” “We renegades have risen up to take back what we have been denied our whole lives: power.” “I won’t stand here while some nullock spats propaganda!” “Together, we are working on ways to combat your powers, combat the prejudice, and evolve into better versions of yourselves.” “Do you hear her?” the man continued. “She’s threatening our very way of life!” “You will no longer be special. You will finally be able to feel what it’s like to be Inutil. Useless. You have relied on your natural powers for too long. Now you will finally be able to taste the consequences.”

We turned a corner and went to a large door near the end of the hall. Dr. Asghar pressed her hand to the doorframe and the door slid open. We were now inside a room full of computers. Dr. Asghar walked behind one, leaving me in the center and Akash off to the side, and Dr. Moon stood in the corner watching her. “State your name,” Dr. Asghar said, putting what I assumed was hand sanitizer in her palm. “As in first name?” I asked. “Or first and last? Or full name? Or possible nicknames? Or—” “Enough!” Dr. Asghar said through gritted teeth. “Full name.” “Robert Benjamin Stafford.” “Age?” Dr. Asghar asked, not even touching the monitor. “I literally just said that I was thirteen.” “Date of birth?” “C’mon, man, that’s pers—” “Didn’t you literally just say that you just turned thirteen?” Dr. Asghar looked at me through her glasses. “Date. Of. Birth?” I sighed. I considered giving out a fake one, like yesterday, but decided against it. “May 2nd, 2010.”

Change - from The Secret Portal Part One (Akash POV)

Sammy’s cheeks glowed, her smile bright. “I got in! I got in!” “The Elite Crew?” I asked, referring to her studio’s advanced dancing team. Sammy bounced on her toes. “Yes! Yes, I did!” “Holy shit, that’s awesome!” said Robbie. “Congrats, Sammy.” “Hell yeah, it’s awesome!” said Liam, appearing in the doorway beside her. “I won the arm wrestling match because her phone went off with the news.” “Doesn’t count,” said Sam. “You’re catching up on Diamond Mode, anyway.” “Yeah, but now I’m catching up by one point less.” “It’s only fair I get a point. Now you can beat me in Diamond Mode, I don’t stand a chance in any other mode, so I have to take any win I can get. Besides, we have the rest of our lives for you to obliterate me in Diamond Mode.” “But what if you get better at Diamond Mode?” “Squirt, diamond can’t get harder than it already is.” “What if you find something harder than diamond?” “That’s impossible.” “We’re in an alternate dimension, Liam.” “Touché. But Alium doesn’t have anything harder than diamond, either.” “There’s a whole multiverse out there, though,” said George, taking a bite out of whatever granola bar he was eating. “Besides, an extremely powerful shapeshifter could theoretically shift their skin into a substance harder than diamond. However, that is unheard of. Also, if Sam gets so good at Diamond Mode Arm Wrestling, I suggest you change to weight-lifting and see if she can throw you when you’re dense or otherwise heavy elements.” Liam and Sam looked at each other. “That could work, Squirt. Excellent idea, George.” George lit up, but he hadn’t swallowed the granola, so his cheeks were puffed out. Like a chipmunk or something
