Started writing a fic back in early October and had to abandon it for a while due to IRL situations. But I've started working on it again little by little, and I am so excited to eventually share it with my mutuals and followers. I hope you guys enjoy it (I am trying my best to get it done)!

TBH my only motivation anymore is thinking about my friends having a good time reading it when it's finally posted (I love all of you very much). I cannot wait for all of these ideas to be fleshed-out on paper at last.

Lorenzo knew fine well he would end up seeing a few familiar faces around, given he was likely responsible for them being captive at the castle -- a guy's got to make some money somehow, right? It was never anything personal, not for a majority of the slaves he ended up selling anyway. There were a few here and there where it definitely had been a little personal -- just a tad.

On his first walk through the castle as a fully fledged guard, Enzo took in the sights, keeping a mental note of the different guys he saw wandering through the hallways. Some of them looked a little worse for wear -- evidently having taken a bit of a beating in the ring -- but others were clearly having a good time watching the violence unfold. As he rounded a corner, Enzo noticed a couple of slaves (judging by the collars around their necks) arguing with each other and getting a tad violent outside of the ring. The siren sighed to himself and figured he should probably do his job and break it up before anyone got hurt, despite it being so tempting just to leave them to it.

"Hey, assholes, knock it off," Enzo called out, stepping between them as he approached, catching a couple of fists as they flew in his direction. "You wanna fight each other, save it for the ring, yeah? Can't believe you're makin' me actually do my job on my first day. Inconsiderate, y'know?" he tutted, pushing them apart before flashing a quick smile at a bystander who was clearly just enjoying the conflict. "Can you believe this shit?"

i think it’s really interesting how ritsu is just as big of a conman as reigen is. like, reigen is a financial conman and ritsu isn’t, but they both put on masks and they both hide who they really are. reigen tricks everyone into thinking he’s psychic and that he’s this charismatic, has his life together, happy guy and he fools a lot of people. and ritsu tricks everyone into thinking that he’s the perfect loving brother and student, that he’s got everything together, that he’s just the kindest most normal middle schooler. and it works. and i find it interesting how it... it doesn’t really seem to work on each other? like, ritsu sees right through reigen even with “proof” that he may really be psychic. he knows it’s all a lie. and i honestly feel like reigen can see through ritsu’s whole facade and knows that he’s hiding who he really is. and in a way, they both resent each other for it. ritsu doesn’t want to turn out like reigen, but he’s scared and is so used to suppressing everything about himself that he doesn’t know how to be himself. and reigen sees ritsu and sees bits and pieces of himself when he was younger and sometimes that makes it hard for him to be around ritsu. and sometimes he just wants to throttle ritsu and tell him to stop and not to do what he did, but he Knows that won’t be enough to convince ritsu and he’s also scared.

I think part of the reason I'm so affectionate toward Hunters is just how off-the-wall it feels. "Let's just throw up all the crazy, cool ideas we have and see what sticks" kind of energy. Metroid has always had its own particular vibe, sitting in this weird tension between Retrofuture Biological/Eldritch Space Horror and Hype Super Robot Anime. Hunters is still kinda doing some of that, but also kinda not.

Most typical multiplayer first-person shooters at the time, meanwhile, were in their Brown Is Real phase, along with an overabundance of Iraq War Jingoism. Even Halo, much as I do appreciate it for being... less that than the rest, still had undercurrents if you look at the subtext any amount. So Hunters, being a more multiplayer-focused shooter, could easily have gone that direction too if so inclined. But nope, not that either.

I don't know how to really describe it, honestly. The designs, if anything, remind me of like, Ben 10 aliens or Buzz Lightyear or Jetix almost. There is just this very distinctly Early Aughts Saturday Morning Action Cartoon vibe to these characters and their backgrounds that you didn't see anywhere else in games, and just don't see anywhere period now. It's definitely still Metroid, especially with the main stuff with the Alimbics and Gorea, but it's also doing its own thing. And for how different it was from other shooters, Hunters also feels like it couldn't have been made any other time than exactly when it was.

The Prime Trilogy is already responsible for broadening the scope and adding a ton of worldbuilding. And then Hunters, this obscure spinoff on hardware much too limited for its ambition, tosses out all these crazy things in the span of some character bios that could fit on the back of an action figure blister pack, and refuses to elaborate further. And I think that's part of the vibe right there - action figures. They feel like action figures for some weird Jetix cartoon, and I adore that so so much.

One of the many things I’m surprised Anet has never released: a ‘Sylvan’ set of themed mount skins like the Inquest Exosuit, Branded, and Shiverpeaks ones, but plant-themed so they can resemble the sylvari, nightmare court, or mordrem depending on what dyes you use.

And although there's merit to it in knowing news as soon as they happen‚#in the long run the death of this kind of central official content ***fan*** blogs is such a huge loss of fandom spaces‚#especially for the archiving purposes they solved. Especially today that T/witter and G/oogle have basically become unusable.#Literally. Literally. I've been doing official content archiving since I was 11 #(because that's the very specific kind of mental illness I have)#and let me tell you that the quality of web search and especially reverse image search only got worse–#in a way that is very evident and noticeable. Which is crazy tbh and not how things should work.#If anyone would like to start a bsd-central kind of blog I'll be the first one to follow.#Actually if anyone actually wants to establish it feel free to contact me and I'll be more than happy to share the resources I have!!!!#It just needs to be something multi-modded for a series of reasons I won't get into right now #I just can't personally do it (not as main admin at least) because that would be modding my FIFTH active bsd blog–#and that's a little too much even for me.#On top of some ethical concerns I have regarding whether it'd be fair for me to mod a fandom central bsd blog–#when I feel like I can't genuinely share the same amount of love for the franchise other fans share #On top of. The above is a screenshot of one of tropes from Shadoo's section in the SPM TV Tropes page that caught my interest.

“Never mentioned to be killed...” Hm. If I go by my headcanon of how Dimentio fits into the story of the Pixl Uprising (i.e he's both the Magician's son and the surviving apprentice who defeated the Pixl Queen), then that would give another parallel of how Dimentio was once a hero who had a Pixl that could see the truth who stopped an antagonist who had the Dark Prognosticus who several thousand years later switched sides. And by another parallel, I mean it works perfectly alongside this.

The reason Shadoo exists (if they are the Pixl Queen) is because he couldn't go through with killing his sister; he cared for her too much and now here she is stuck at the bottom of the Flopside Pit of 100 Trials and wanting to exact revenge on the Ancients for sealing her away. Based on how Shadoo has a robotic text box and says that they were created by the Ancients, it can be presumed she forgot she was ever human. She forgot who she was.

Fast forward to the events of SPM and Dimentio's intended kill-shot for Count Bleck gets intercepted by Nastasia and knocks her unconscious in addition to injuring her. Either he had the power of that shot just enough to kill Bleck and no further and that's why Nastasia survived, because why waste precious energy? All he has to do is finish Count Bleck off who is already at death’s door thanks to the heroes.

Or Nastasia was just very fortunate to survive a full-powered blast. My money's on something like the former because Dimentio has well more than enough power to absolutely guarantee no one would survive an attack like that. (the average person who isn't a hero or built for combat— which Nastasia very much isn't— anyway.)

Then there's him saving O'Chunks and Mimi from what would have been certain death by teleporting them to Dimension D. We know they didn't end up in the same place as Peach and Bowser because neither they nor O'Chunks and Mimi make any mention of such. Pair that with the fact that the Void can't be seen from Dimension D and thus heavily implying that anyone inside it would survive the Void that would destroy everything else, and you're left with the only explanation of Dimentio having saved them. I do believe that Dimentio screwed up by not only "catching feelings" and he genuinely did care for the other minions deep down as much as he tries to deny that; and I have mentioned in a prior post about him putting all of the people who could have possibly done something about the Super Dimentio fusion in the same place.

If he hadn't cared as much as he did for them and just left them to their fates, he would have won. I feel that the reason why the floor came out under Bowser and O'Chunks is because of Dimentio— because why make a trap like that that is intended to kill any who don't make it out in time and then have it to where after a certain amount of time, it would give any of the heroes still inside who may somehow still be alive an escape and make a comeback? It makes no sense. And it's because of that, that Peach was able to survive by landing on top of Bowser.

Had he only teleported Bowser out and left O'Chunks, and teleported Peach while leaving Mimi, the minions wouldn't have been able to band together with Count Bleck and Tippi to recharge the Pure Hearts and destroy his invincibility. It was his inability to go through with killing them or just letting them die because he actually cared about them— cared too much— that caused his own undoing.

History literally repeats itself if one subscribes to believing Dimentio is both the Magician's son and the last surviving apprentice.

First Shadoo who may or may not be the Pixl Queen, was spared by her brother who couldn't bear to go through with killing her therefore causing future consequences for if she ever gets free. Then the minions— including Nastasia and Count Bleck who for the latter, Dimentio in his ever present wisdom decided to spare killing for later— with their love for each other that was allowed to continue existing all because he spared them for the time being, recharged the Pure Hearts and caused immediate consequences for himself and was the catalyst for his defeat.

In the first instance, he was on the “heroic” side. For the last he was on the “villainous” side.

#super paper mario #spm #spm theory #dimentio #shadoo #pixl queen #this is ofc just a theory since dimentio is an enigma but i see parallels and go 👀#and also ofc things like nastasia surviving dimentio's kill-shot is just my interpretation of how she did so #and then there's the (fairly popular?) fanon that dimentio teleported mimi and o'chunks to dimension d rather than them flip in on their ow #but we know that they couldn't have done so on their own— at least not o'chunks who is consistently shown to be incapable of flipping #and flipping seems to /only/ work on the person themself and can't be used on selected targets (if that makes sense). dimentio is special #bc he's the only character who is shown to always /teleport/‚ not flip. and we are explicitly shown a scene of him clearly using his #teleportation on peach (he uses his teleportation on mr. l and the other heroes when he explodes them but it's disguised by said #explosions due to how distinct it is and considering how for many years a vast majority of the spm fandom believes he /actually/ killed the #when jaydes herself literally says otherwise‚ those examples of him teleporting people other than himself doesn't count) anyway. point is:#even if mimi could flip in on her own‚ o'chunks wouldn't have been able to get in. probably. bc tippi /does/ show the ability to flip #both herself and the heroes to flipside on several occasions‚ but this ability isn't displayed by /anyone else/ throughout the game so #it's not farfetched to believe that /only/ tippi can flip other people in addition to herself #so i still firmly believe dimentio was responsible for mimi and o'chunks getting into dimension d at the end (plus it's /his/ dimension‚ i #think he has full control over whether someone can or can't enter it)#i did not mean to put an entire essay in the tags oh no

i love s4, and im enjoying listening to it with the magaday, but i forgot it would also lead to the worst thing: seeing people interpret media differently than me on the internet OTL

#NOT a big deal #but as an enjoyer of nuance and complicated characters and the tragedy of people doing their best and still failing #I can't help but want to constantly correct posts saying 'Georgie said she prefered Jon dead!' (she didn't #; Jon accused her of that and Basira asked her to leave before they could talk it out)#and 'everyone is blaming Jon for Tim and Daisy's deaths' -> only Melanie is‚ as far as we've heard;#not that everyone is being nice or fair to jon; not at all #but this framing of the situation as jon on one side and everyone else on the other is just so much more boring #than the web of relationships and mistakes and misplaced blame that is implied #and the former is how you get analyses that are objectively wrong like 'no one let Jon speak in 199!!' -> literally by word count and #time spend speaking he talks the most out of anyone in the discussion #but it's not 50/50 jon/others because every character in tma is the protagonist of their own story #like of course it wouldve been nicer if georgie had immediately protested that she didn't want jon to die #but playing that out in my mind; it feels like exactly the kind of argument that jons ex specifically would be tired of having #even if the context is different now #and to me the way it's possible to construct these unspoken reasons and stories for the side characters is the coolest shit #and that's lost if Georgie just said 'I hoped you died Jon‚' because... ? because it's s4 so everyone is just mean to Jon?#even though she's the one visiting him in hospital in the first place?#joos yaps #delete later #nah she's just a mean girl. mean women bullying jon all season #nothing more to it than that

okay so we already see in the trailer that theyre taking stuff from sa2 and shth.. i feel like shth is going to be the main event here because the trailer and description is implying black doom is the main antagonist. plus its the only shadow focused game that didnt have any representation in the original sonic generations iirc. but those arent the only games shadow has had a major role in . are they gonna take stuff from other games too? like 06 maybe?

maybe i actually have learned some resilience across the past year because it truly has been a Day but. feeling more even keeled about it than i was expecting and that's a win

#sola said #anyway if anyone was thinking about the killer five-hit combo schedule of #moving everything they own from a fourth floor walkup to a third floor walkup (my phone says i walked One Hundred Thirty Two flights #of stairs and more than five miles today)#forgetting to eat lunch because of said moving #being very Perceived/vulnerable about writing in seminar for a couple hours #racing traffic and also literally sprinting through an airport only to still not make the flight #and then the rebooked flight getting very delayed #i can't in good conscience recommend it #i am so tired but soon i will be home and be able to sleep. for a very long time.#i am very grateful for friends chatting at the breakfast table and friends willing to climb a lot of stairs to help me move #and i'm counting those wins. especially the fact that i am very physically tired but not nearly as emotionally wiped as i think i could be #considering. everything. especially the moving.
