thinking how paul will have his eyes melted out of his skull via nuke in the dune messiah movie…excited for the special effects!! and the horror of it all, especially the love scene with him and chani right after with his eyeless sockets that still see everything because prescience is a curse that shackles you…can’t wait for him to walk around eyeless into the trial and tell everyone what they’re wearing that shit is gonna be awesome

Starting to see why Denis Villeneuve will want to finish his Dune journey with Dune Messiah, because that way he can end every movie with Paul killing someone (Jamis, Feyd, and Scytale) in a knife fight that marks a major turning point in his life.

Honestly I tire of how often discussion about Cordelia is framed as a narrative of victimization. Charisma was treated horribly by Joss Whedon and this absolutely affected Cordelia’s arc in some ways, and Cordelia’s narrative treatment has a place in discussions of patterns of misogyny in the Buffyverse. But ‘victim of Joss Whedon’ is too often where the conversation stops. Cordelia was part of the Buffyverse for 6 years before Season 4 and she has an excellent send-off episode after it. There are a myriad of ways to analyze her character development within the context of both BtVS and AtS. She has an incredibly rich story and develops complex relationships with multiple other characters. And ultimately she ends her arc by reclaiming her own agency and voice. You can critique the way said agency and voice was denied to her in Season 4 without pretending that’s all she is. Too often her story is framed as a tragedy, sigh, let’s all shake our heads about how she was Ruined and Assassinated, God forbid we actually talk about what her character arc was like before or after she got possessed (which is different from being Ruined or Assassinated but God forbid we acknowledge that either). I find this to be simplistic, performative, and frankly condescending. Cordelia Chase deserves better than that.

Finished children of dune and the way Paul and Alia die on the same day on the same steps while Jessica - the maker of their demise and unhappiness- watches it from above is so poetic and I almost cried.
Paul being pushed in the role of the Messiah/Emperor (by his mother) and ultimately killed by the mob (?) and (probably) religious fanatics of a twisted version of his own religion…
Alia who was turned into something beyond her control in the womb by Jessica and then abandoned by her own mother, because she was afraid of her. Left with no hope or help to fight against the voices within her until she succumbed to them…

The Messiah PFP!
I didn't expected it to be this sunset vibe and bright lighting (thinking of night when I was drawing) but this also works and giving it the ethereal vibes.

sometimes i think about this exchange:
GUNN: Fair Cordelia -- you still saving my life?
CORDELIA: Every minute.
GUNN: How’s that working out?
CORDELIA: You’re alive, aren’t you?
and then i think about how gunn was the only human left alive at the end of the show.....i’ll eternally be mad about how robbed we were of more cordelia & gunn scenes but there’s something precious to me about the idea that she made a promise to save his life and he’s the only one who never died. was it due to her? in the balance, probably not, even accounting for her ascension to godhood. but then again......he’s alive, isn’t he?

Spock: Messiah!
Kirk attempts to reach Spock through his craziness one last time with logic as the gang are being tied to stakes to be burnt in the morning.
*note; ensign George is ensign Sara George, who in his delusional mind bangs with her several times
Also; Spock also refers to "afterbliss," which is the enterprise. he's using it to mystify the locals into believing he's a prophet (using the tractor beam to lift the dead into the sky and out of sight, for example)
