Haven't done this in yeeears, but it never hurts to try 🤷🏻‍♀️

My fiancée and I are getting married on 10/13/23 and are struggling to pay for the final details of the wedding as well as keep up with housing/food/etc. My fiancée also is legally changing her name before we apply for our marriage license, which makes everything just a tad more expensive than usual.

For those of you that have followed me a long time, circa 2018 you watched our love bloom under the #slayer girl on this very blog, and now in 2023 we're finally getting married. I fell in love with the girl I thirst followed and met at a rock show, and I'm beyond ecstatic to have found my forever in her. Omg hi umm, do you have any particular hcs of Michi and Mikai. I don't see any of Mikai because he got so shafted in MCD

I headcanon that these two had a really tough childhood and because of that they developed a really strong bond

however as they got older their views and goals in life started to change drastically

Mikai started to form s rebellion group and Michi got involved with the wrong people and started causing even more trouble

as a precaution Mikai took her into his group however Michi betrayed him and notified the authorities of their rebellion

therefore they all had to flee the region and Mikai took Michi with them (that's how I imagine they all got to Ru'uan)

but shortly after Michi faked her death and escaped

now she's running around Ru'aun and Mikai is travelling with the rest of his group

Random hcs:

- Mikai has a young looking face so a lot of people thought Michi is his older sister

- his ring finger on his left hand got cut off back in Tu'la by a shop owner when Michi got caught stealing a ring, so he tried to reason with the owner to get her out of trouble

- he misses Michi a lot despite her betraying him and whenever he feels sad he looks at his left hand since in a weird way it reminds him of her

-secretly has a small crush on Laurance

- he's really good with daggers rather then a sword or a bow

- definitely thinks he can help Michi become a better person and change her ways

-his tail is a bit short but nobody knows if that's how it is naturally or if he lost a part of it in a fight (he always avoids/changes the topic when asked)

- Michi knows a lot about plants and the effect they have on people, as children they spent a lot of their time in the forest so to get rid of boredom she started to learn about plants

- big fan of tea and anything sweet

- in Tu'la if you get your ears or tail (in worst case both) cut off it is seen as shameful and the worst type of punishment (but only meifwas who committed a serious crime are punished like this) and Michi definitely came close to that more than once

- hates being cold and will do literally anything to get warm

- Sasha taught her how to read when they were locked up together

Something that's been eating at me for days regarding Lily and Mikaila's dog water takes on Astarion and how "the white twink hasn't been spicy in decades, dude is straight up almond milk" is that Astarion DOES have something noteworthy and "spicy" about his story. He's a male SA survivor. Getting his story told and his feelings heard. Very rarely do male abuse survivors get their stories told, even moreso when the abuse is sexual abuse. And that's something his arc explores fully. For Lily and Mikay to fully ignore that and only focus on the fact that he's white and a fan favorite is... well, Lily Orchard being callous and tone deaf isn't anything new, but it's still frustrating to see. Plus her comments about N from Pokemon and how his behavior "warrants a restraining order," when it's fully shown that he acts the way he does because he was purposefully kept from other people growing up and thus wasn't socialized the way most kids are. Another character whose arc centers around coming to terms with the trauma they were subjected to, and Lily can only focus on how she doesn't personally like the way the character is presented.

Lily hates male trauma survivors so much it's un-fucking-real.

i honestly don't even know what either of them means with "spice" in this case, and considering they say the white guy has no spice while the black guy they want to push pressumably does have spice... isn't that a bit stereotypical? maybe i'm reaching too much here. either way we already know that LO fetishizes black people, but that phrasing is also just... weird, let's go with that. i know what a bland (spiceless if you will) character is like, i have seen those on screen and i have read books with them. i have no idea what are LO or MO even talking about when they insist to call all white male characters with a fan base as bland. i wouldn't call having a survivor background either as a "something interesting" because you could have a character go through that and still be the most boring entity in the whole narrative.

You know even if Mikay and Lily both acknowledge that the relationship between C!Lily and G is “supposed to be weird”, it doesn’t at all excuse the fact that their chemistry has been the exact same since the comic first started.

With all the acknowledgment about their feelings towards each other, new partners that have come into their lives, trials that put their relationship to the test, they still have the exact same as if none of those things ever happened.

Hell, they still snuggle and share a bed, even though it’s been acknowledged by BOTH of them they have feelings toward each other and they just…ignore it?

It’s just super…creepy how much had happened between the two of them, and yet C!Lily has yet to set any boundaries at ALL with G. Hell, I thought (at first) the whole point of Marah as a character was to help G learn to be away from C!Lily. But no. She’s just there for…kind of no reason tbh

Yup. They still snuggle on the couch, they still share a bed, G still gets horny when she sees C!Lily with a new look (even though she’s APPARENTLY asexual. Right. Whatever you say Lils). Nothing has changed.

It’s no surprise that Lily hates overarching stories and prefers shows that stick with the status quo. But when she gives “slice of life” a shot, it’s both convoluted and so SO BORING to read. I wouldn’t be so upset if she was so damn defensive about her work.

Time to share some of KC’s siblings in my MCD rewrite! Note:

- One brother named Kota is not featured here. I made him on Heroforge. Nana (or as I’ve called her Nanako) is also not on here. I’ve also not included her aunt who is Michi and Mikai’s mother. Her mother also is not. All of em except michi and mikai were made on heroforge

- I like to believe most mief’wa are born with magicks, but there are many that also are not. Depending on the kingdom, some statures are decided based on their magicks and how powerful they are.

- I have wildcat mief’wa alongside normal house-cat. Wildcats are seen as more powerful/respected. KC and all her siblings are Panthers. They’ve been labelled with numbers so you know which one I’m talking about. Let’s go!

1. Junichi - Eldest - “An Obedient Son” - He has Emotion magicks; he can read very strong emotions that pertain to that from a person, but not their thoughts. He’s a little like Alex from LIS with em. He is seen as cold and called a ‘doll’ by his younger sister, as he does not speak or emote much, only listening to their mother, doing what she asks without question (who- is not the greatest).

2. Kimiko - Second Eldest - “Empress Child” - she does not have any magicks. Kimiko is more brash and angry. She does not get along with Junichi or Masako, and is the one often calling Junichi a doll. She is fiercely protective over Nanako, Kota and Kazuhiko. She has earned more scars in order to protect them.

3. Masako - Third Eldest - “Elegant Child” - She has Mental Magicks; she can charm people to make herself more entrancing/enchanting. They can still refuse to do what she asks, but it just makes people more friendly to her. Despite how beautiful she is she is very ugly in personality. Of course, she is practically the spitting image of their mother, so she tries to feel better about it by taking it in her stride as her beauty, unintentionally casting people out, including her siblings.

4. Kazuhiko - The Youngest - “Harmonious Prince” - As when Nanako’s backstory starts he is like- 6 years old he does not have much aside from being a very bright and happy child. He does discover his magicks when he gets older, having a sort of Mental magicks with the ability to make small illusions. Even when he grows up he is very bright and happy, always trying to help the people.

And the other sibling, Kota, the second youngest. “Happiness”, “Good Fortune”. He has no magicks. He is extremely close to Nanako, being the one to nickname her Nana, as that was all he could say when he was younger. He is very bright, and rather smart and handy with a sword. When Nanako disappears, he becomes one of their mother’s most loyal soldiers, being sent to find her and bring her back, most of the young boy Nanako knew being gone.

So there we go!! Eventually I’ll share screenshots of the ones on Heroforge, I’m especially impressed with Mikai and Michi’s mother.

Rhiannon Giddens's book debut, Build a House, is out today on Candlewick Press. The picture book was inspired by, and features the lyrics of, a song she wrote and recorded with Yo-Yo Ma to commemorate Juneteenth in 2020. This newly recorded version of the song with Ma and Francesco Turrisi is also out today on Nonesuch; you can hear it everywhere here. Giddens will read the book and perform at the Brooklyn Children’s Museum this Thursday, October 13, and Grammy Museum in LA October 22. Her Carnegie Hall Perspectives concerts begin this Sunday, October 15; her opera Omar with Michael Abels debuts at LA Opera October 22.

Life lately.

I may look calm but I'm actually nervous for the upcoming semester– no, mixed emotions! I'm excited but also scared to meet new faces. I hope I can make friends this time.

I don't really leave the house that often, but I've been going out for the past weeks– eating out, and meeting colleagues. I always stay indoors reading books, playing games with a friend, crafting trinkets and then recently, doing advance reading before the semester starts!

Has Aphmau asked Nana about Menphia once? Like could be either be post-identity crisis or after she had met Mikai (Michi’s twin) since he’s told her all about Tu’la much more she’s known about Tu’la already

Aphmau asked Nana about her once after reading about her in a book. She asked why Tu’lan people idolise her when she’s got such an aggressive reputation. It was an innocent question, she was just wondering if there was something she missed, or if she didn’t have the cultural context required to see her in a heroic way. Nana basically just said it was a rude question and Aphmau didn’t ask anything more, she just apologised and went about her day.

Not until later, after she started having memories of Menphia, did she ask again. She just asked ‘why do the books say she’s a way I don’t remember her being?’ And Nana summarised it to ‘your priests hate my people’ which basically gave Aphmau all the information she needed. Because that’s literally it.

💫 It scares me.

🖤 Context: The reader is an angel (who lost almost her entire grace), she and Michael are closer to each other and this happens after all the event of the first eleven seasons.

🖤 Sumary: After being raised from the cage, Michael is a bit damaged and showing some of human needs, the reader finds out that Michael talks in his sleep, and about some of his toughts.

It should be easier than that, they were a team of five now, one of them being the Creation himself! And not forgetting that two of the oldest things in existence were there. No one could say why they still having no clue of how to stop Amara, being honest it was hard to even understand what she was doing and why it was making all the universe run weird, with heavens being darker and everyone having a wrong feeling about that.

It was almost 03:00 am when Y/N closed the book she was searching on, her head was making a irritating noise after spend all night reading after any information of Darkness or a primordial entity running a concept on her brother's universe. Well, no clues.

━━ I hope you're doing better than me there, Sunshine. ━━ She teases the archangel, or may we say TRY to tease, he was the only one who accepted to search with her on the archives. ━━ Mikai, it's serious, I didn't found anything and... ━━ She stopped her words, looking at his direction. ━━ Michael?

His hands were holding the book opened, almost hitting the table, his head was almost falling over the archives, hunged just by his own stubborness. Y/N got closer, but before she could even think to call him again, he hit the book in the table, waking by himself, his turquoise eyes running the table and the room flustered for a moment.

━━ What? ━━ He was looking at her confused. ━━ Did you found something?

━━ Yeah, you're tired and need to sleep. ━━ She was gently taking the book from his hand, but he refused to let her do this.

━━ No, I'm not. ━━ He frowned as he tried to take back the book, refusing to look at her worried face. ━━ I'm an archangel, I don't need to rest.

━━ But I need and I would feel bad for leaving you alone here. ━━ She take his hands this time, what he just softly let her have. ━━ Michael, please. ━━ And she knows exactly where to hit, he stared at her and it's a point of no return.

She tought it could work if she could convince him to sit with her in the sofa, since a bed was totally out of deal. To her lucky, there was a comfortable one in the bunker's ""living room"", what made it easy.

She could say it was cute how he was legitimate fighting with his tiredness, but it were impossible of not being worried. Michael was tired, and they weren't even bringing the cage into the conversation yet. Y/N didn't wanted to start a discussion, and making him feel forced to do something was the last thing she wanted.

━━ You remember when I was totally new into the vessel thing? ━━ She reached his right hand, holding it with kindness. ━━ You let me play with your hand... ━━ She was slipping his finger over his wrist slowly, so starting to open and close his fingers.

Maybe she should have noticed it, he was not moving his hand or answearing nothing what she was saying; Y/N just noticed the archangel sleeping when she felt his head slowly slipping to lay on her shoulder, his calm breath pointing that he was totally asleepy now.

With a happy smile and all the caution she could, Y/N continued to play with his hand, she was interested in Michael's taste for rings, and the pretty one with blue stones on it. She was going to take a look on it, but before she could do anything her heart was skipping a beat when his hand just grabbed hers, interlacing their fingers.

━━ It was selfish... ━━ His voice was deep and whispered, he had that expression, she couldn't say if it was more worry or more pain, but he still sleeping. ━━ The most selfish I did... I've gone to hell, and I'm not sorry... ━━ She had her breath locked in her throat, she could hear the despair in his tone, and it was making a mess on her head, his face has a smile now and it made he looks the thing that he most hate, fragile, vulnerable. ━━ The things I could do for you, wings, they scares me... It scares me.

She finally move to pull him into a hug, she wanted to cry, but Y/N couldn't do it, not now. Michael was tired, not just physical but mental, he was exhausted. She gently embraced him but also a bit tightly, none of them letting their hands go.
