By the base of this stone barn wall there is a patch of Soleirolia soleirolii (baby's tears, mind your own business) enjoying growing in the shady, damp conditions. The masses of tiny leaves clothe the slender spreading stems that root as they run, forming a dense deep-pile carpet. This plant is often grown as a houseplant but will tolerate winter frosts when the leaves are killed but will recover to grow vigorously again in the spring.
