After looking at so much information and so many peoples’ personal experiences regarding autism (and factoring in my own experiences), I think it isn’t control that we want. So many things talk about how we need to control our schedules and environments and so on but I think it’s actually about freedom. It’s about choice and autonomy. We need freedom from other people’s control - Freedom from their expectations, schedules, and influences over environmental circumstances. We need the choice to have a quiet space or headphones for the music we want to listen to or the choice to do things when we want to or to wear what we want or whether to make eye contact or not or to say that we can’t do something right now because we’re already overwhelmed or to leave a room or to focus on something or to stim or to have emotional reactions or non-emotional ones or to say we don’t want to be touched right now or that we do actually want a hug right now and so on.
It’s not that we’re square pegs trying to control the round hole until it’s square. It’s that we know we don’t fit there so we want to choose to be where we do fit instead of having someone shave off our edges because they insist we must fit where they want us to.

Can we talk about how amazing Shen Qingqiu actually is?? He wakes up in an unfamiliar room to an unfamiliar person talking like he knows him, and his first instinct is to play along to buy himself time to figure out the situation without endangering himself. He quickly puts it together and manages to outwardly keep his cool and assess the situation. At multiple times in the story he's forced to think quickly on his feet and he's GOOD at it, he realizes things fast, memorizes things easily, he's extremely studious and read through the entire Qing Jing library as soon as he realized where and who he was. He's quick witted and flexible with his thinking, great at problem solving, a great actor... Sure, he couldn't fool people into thinking he was the exact same as someone they had known for years, but he's great at keeping his thoughts and feelings on the inside while showing a cool, controlled, *confident* face to everyone else. Actually he's really good at genuinely taking control of situations in general, even when he IS internally screaming. Fake it til you make it WORKS for him, because even when he feels like he's faking, he is doing amazing work and showing great competense. On top of that he's very compassionate even when he doesn't necessarily want to be, and while he was given a body that had already become an immortal cultivator, he still put in a LOT of work to practice, refine and master that cultivation until it was completely natural and second nature for him to use it. And that's fucking AMAZING.
The only times his abilities fail him, really, is when he believes he already knows how something is supposed to go and thinking it's set in stone. He believes Luo Binghe must hate him, must want a harem, and that he himself isn't that important or desirable, and he believes it SO STRONGLY that he can't see past it until it's shoved directly in his face. That's the only times he truly acts like an oblivious idiot, and honestly can you blame him? Like I said, he believes those are facts set in stone, no matter how much the evidence contradicts it. The pitfall of having detailed future information of an alternate timeline, I suppose.
TL;DR: SQQ is a brilliant, quick witted, creative, intelligent and hard working man and I fucking LOVE that for him. He was the perfect candidate for filling the role of the academic peak's leader and the sect's strategist, because he shares all those same qualities with his predecessor (I'm assuming, I haven't actually read the SJ extras yet oops). The main thing setting them apart, really, is just that SY was raised to be *kind* where SJ was unfortunately raised to be cruel.
Chef's kiss, truly.

honestly I did mention it in the tags before but I cannot help but think of Jin Guangyao who struggled monetarily for most of his life showering his nephew in gifts and Jiang "never knowing what to say to his father" Cheng being the one the nephew always knowing to run to whenever there is a problem

My favourite part of MDZS is how cool Wei Wuxian is.
Like, we don’t talk enough about how cool he is. He performs Empathy three times. His ability to use a flute is so powerful, the song doesn’t even have to sound good for it to work. He brought a dead guy back to life (kinda sorta).
But especially, I love how Wei Wuxian treats ghosts and corpses! Wei Wuxian just hangs out with corpses, for FUN!! He scares away low-level corpses just by existing! He hears the voices of the dead to the point that he can’t enter a place too full of resentment without getting a headache from the constant chatter.
I also really like the Extra where Wei Wuxian is just like “Well, the ghost will go away when he’s done screaming. I’m not worried about it.” And he just leaves a screaming ghost at some guy’s house so the ghost can move on peacefully (as peacefully as is possible when one moves on by screaming).
I love all of this so much because Wei Wuxian is constantly saying that people have too high of expectations of him. Xue Yang telling him to put Xiao Xingchen’s soul back together is just one example of this. Someone will tell Wei Wuxian to do something and he’ll be like “How powerful do you think I am?!” And it’s like… Wei Wuxian, you spent six hours hanging onto a cursed sword in the Xuanwu’s mouth, you survived three months in the Burial Mounds and then returned to make it into a semi-livable place, you killed at least a thousand people that one time, and you came back from the dead, just to name a few.
Wei Wuxian is so strong. He’s so cool. He is terrifying. He is unstoppable and unflappable if only because he gets over his embarrassment in about fifteen seconds! He just rolls with it! He rolls with anything that happens! He remains Shocked and Apalled by Lan Zhan’s behaviour for all of five minutes before basically going “lol okay”! He told Lan Zhan that he wanted to sleep with him in front of Lan Xichen, Jin Ling, a handful of Jin disciples, and the literal bad guy of the novel!!!
(I’ll never get over that scene. It is so funny.
WWX: “I need to say something, it can’t wait.”
JGY: “Then just say it right now as you are.” (Referring to the fact that Wei Wuxian has a wire wrapped around his throat that can kill him in seconds)
WWX: “Good point! Lan Zhan, we should’ve fucked.”
This scene is so fucking funny, I will absolutely never get over it)
I love powerful protagonists and honestly, Wei Wuxian is at the top of the list when it comes to overpowered protagonists. The only thing that phases him is dogs, and even then, he himself admits that he can get used to their presence as long as they aren’t barking.
TLDR: Wei Wuxian is so powerful and I totally get why Lan Zhan fell for him.

My favourite thing about Wei Wuxian is he literally got resurrected and then decided "We're not gonna unpack all of that", indirectly murdered his host's abusive family, threw his son's friend in front of a murderous arm, then stole a donkey.

something something, What if Pheobe had ranted to Ray about her being fired from being a Ghostbuster and how unfair it is and how angry and hurt she is because she knows ghostbusting better than the other, she is smarter than them, she gets the tech the best, whilst Ray looks fondly and sympathetically, before talking about a time where Egon was banned from groundwork because his aim was so bad, and he too got angry and ranted at the others about how unfair and stupid that is, something something

Help needed for three kittens, their mom, and a frustrated autistic and ADHD person
(Which I mention only because I think my social issues might contribute to why this is so difficult).
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
In mid-may, these babies showed up practically on my doorstep.
I already have three cats who, before they came to me, were traumatized into being afraid of other cats so, as much as I’ve tried every trick to help them be okay with each other or other cats, they are not. They like their own separate spaces. So inside is full.
So are the local shelters. I called all of them and no one can take them. I’ve also asked around to see if anyone can adopt them and that’s why I have three instead of four kittens now.
It doesn’t matter at this point though because I want to keep the remaining three and Momma. They already bonded with me and I know I can take good care of them if I can get part of my carport screened in.
A friend and I can DIY it but even though all I want to do is attach wood to an existing aluminum structure then attach screen to it, apparently that requires a permit. (I also want to get one because I have seen the hell neighbors have gone through because of unpermitted work).
The problem is that the permit office is requiring signed and sealed structural/engineering plans from a licensed architect or engineer for it.
The hilarious part is that the entire reason I’m DIYing this is because I actually tried to get it professionally done but am cursed by having professionals ghost me.
“Okay, I’ll send you a quote.”
Three weeks and several polite requests to resend it because I never received it later… Still nothing.
(Even the driving school I hired left me standing outside waiting for an instructor who never came because apparently they quit and no one told me).
I’ve been trying to hire someone to create the plans and am running into the same problem again.
So, if anyone out there is or knows someone who is a licensed engineer or architect who can create signed and sealed plans for the state of Florida and can take on this small job, please message me. I have some money saved up for this so we can discuss fair pay. I also have some concept drawings with measurements made up that I can send for reference. I’d really appreciate it if anyone can take on this job.
Edit:
I do have appointments set up for all of these beautiful babies (and Momma) to be spayed or neutered and to get their shots and deworming and all of the necessary stuff for their health.

The meaning of “The Untamed”
someone asked me to elaborate and who am i to say no? (i asked for it in the tags)
The Untamed isn’t a translation of 陈情令 (chén qíng líng) so when people discuss the title they typically toss out or brush off the english title entirely.
but that’s because it’s not a translation of 陈情令 it’s a translation of 无羁 (wú jī) the theme song of the series.
yippe explaination set up
i’d also like to make this post new fan and/or cql only fan friendly so i’m going to go in depth about the significance of 无羁 before explaining how it connects to the english title.
first the chinese characters for wwx and lwjs names
Wei Wuxian — 魏无羡
Lan Wangji — 蓝忘机
in the novels the song Wei Wuxian plays on the flute, that Lan Wangji played for him in the cave with the Xuanwu of Slaughter is expressly titled 忘羡 (wàng xiàn). the ship name we all know and love consisting of the first character of Wangji and last character of Wuxian.
so the track in cql is titled 无羁 the first character of Wuxian and the last sound of Wangji.
now the translation explanation
无羁 directly translates to unbridled, unfettered, or untamed
so The Untamed as the english version of the title is literally a mixed up version of their ship name in english! when you say “i’m watching The Untamed” in a way you’re kind of saying “i’m watching Wangxian”.
how does this relate to the name 陈情令?how did this become the english title?
i’d like to refer you to this post as it explains in depth better than i can the meaning of 陈情令.
directly translated 陈情令 means “a song from chén qíng”, being the name of Wei Wuxian’s flute. however, 陈情 itself has two translations. first being to reminisce past relationship. (referring from the linked post please check it out)
Wuji is a song both played literally on the chen qing flute, but is also a song reminiscent of a past relationship. ofc it’s of a present relationship now but throughout the series, you get what i mean.
so Wuji, or The Untamed, makes perfect sense to be the english title for the show.
ALSO!! felt i should include this
《 魔道祖师:无羁 》 or “Mo Dao Zu Shi : Wu Ji” is the official name for the books printed in mainland china afaik.

i got like maybe 2 hours of sleep last night and i’m running on 3 cups of coffee so far so this is what happens
if there’s any questions feel free to ask <3

I think Tim Drake deserves a villain arc. As a treat. Just like a little one, to get it out of his system.
Option 1: Tim hunts down the dregs of the League of Assassins, bends them to his will through money and influence, and starts building his own ninja army. This utilizes his management and organizational skills. If Jason is allowed to have a gang, its only fair Tim gets one, too. This would be terrifying and have lasting impacts on the world villain economy.
Option 2: Literally just Teen Titans Red X. Here he's using self sufficiency and stealth skills. Much more of a loner villain arc, just striking out for a little while and finding himself. Also maybe doing some actual Robin-hood-ing and stealing from the rich. It could be fun. And it fits his theme!
