for the anon wondering if they should do 31 separate fics vs. a multichapter; I write for a small fandom too, though one that is fairly prolific for whumptober. It seems like a 50/50 split in terms of separate fics vs. multichapter. As a reader, I much prefer the separate fics- so much easier to find the story I want to reread (or skip one if the prompt squicks me). No pesky wall of tags, and I can leave kudos for each story!
As a writer, I've done it both ways, because I've been worried about "clogging the tag." I am so much happier with the stories I posted individually for a lot of the same reasons I stated above, plus, you wrote a story every day for a month. If you had just randomly managed to be that productive without an event you wouldn't worry about whether they should be separate fics or not. Wear that proudly! Let it reflect in your story count number!
(if there are any stories that are a continuation/next chapter of a previous day's prompt, those could be part of a multichapter fic. Please do that for ease of reading)
Further Opinions on the "How to post" question :)

serious word of warning about a server that's been making the rounds
i've debated about making this post a lot, for a lot of reasons. i'm concerned about making it as a trans person and as a relatively new blog, though i've been involved in the whump community for years. i hope you'll hear me out and i'm not looking forward to whatever backlash may come my way, should anyone actually pay attention to this at all.
the short version is: the whump discord server 'whump lovers collaborate' (@/whumplovers-collaborate) is unsafe and hostile to trans people and the server owner will not take action to shut down transphobia, nor will she allow her mod team to do so. i am certain this would apply to other bigotries as well. i know this because i am trans, and when i called out some disgustingly transphobic commentary being made by a member of the server i was blamed for causing drama, essentially, and there was a rule added to the server not to talk about 'controversial topics' or get into arguments, and that was all that was done.
the much longer version is under the cut. i just can't sit on this anymore after seeing that the server got advertised in the whumptober server (to no fault of the whumptober mods who didn't know about any of this, they're fine) and also seeing hundreds of notes on posts broadcasting it. this server is unsafe for trans people and the server owner is actively enabling bigots. given the whump community has a bit of a transphobia problem in some places, i wanted to make sure no trans person or ally was unwittingly walking into that without warning. i'd appreciate it if you would spread the word as well, to keep trans community members and allies safe.
so, here's what happened:
i was in the whump lovers collaborate server for a while earlier this year. in february, a member of the server started spouting off some extremely transphobic rhetoric, including talking about inherent biological differences between men and women, that women are inherently and unchangeably weaker than men, that men have a 'biological instinct' to protect women, and other things. (there was also some bizarre commentary about how abuse or assault committed against men was inherently less upsetting, and often funny to witness because of this).
seeing this and being unwilling, as both a trans person and someone who believes it is important to not let bigotry go unchallenged, i stepped in and called out these statements for being both factually untrue and steeped in both misogyny and transphobia. this person and i went around and around in circles as he asked 'genuine questions' which were just thinly veiled excuses to continue needling me on the subject. eventually, i shut it down by saying that this was not the appropriate venue for a transphobic cis person to get educated about the nuance of the trans experience and trans issues, but what he was saying was transphobic and he needed to stop now that he'd been told that.
throughout this interaction, mods were emoji-reacting and responding to other things. at no point did any mod step in to help me or shut down the transphobia or at all intervene in what was happening. after i shut things down for good, one of the mods said 'thanks for keeping everything respectful' which was a truly laughable thing to have said in that situation.
after this, the server owner made an announcement that said, among a few other things about Not Fighting: "Friendly reminder that we are all here because of what we have in common, our love of writing We are not here to debate controversial issues Or say harmful opinions If you cannot hold a conversation without being civil and without escalating conflict, back away from the channel, and cool down All involved in a conflict are responsible for turning a chill space sour No matter how right you think you are (I’m not saying no mention of controversial things is allowed per se, I’m saying be civil, if that means avoiding controversial topics, avoid away)"
this is not an appropriate response to one person espousing blatant transphobia (among other disgusting views) and being called on it. a rule was added that if a mod or the server owner asked you to change the subject from a topic, you had to do so immediately and there should be no more discussion of it 'by any of the participants'. no rule was present to begin with making clear that bigotry was not tolerated, nor was one added.
subsequently, the server owner made it clear she had no interest in protecting marginalized community members, and that she blamed me for what happened because i refused to allow rampant transphobia to proceed unchecked.
when either asked by other server members about what happened or when asking server members who left why they left (which is a weird thing to do on its own) the server owner responded by essentially throwing a fit and asking what she was supposed to do? kick the transphobe out? she whined about how the person saying something should be done about the transphobe was assuming that she hadn't already done anything.
(she also said that she hadn't done anything. the person was not warned, muted, banned, there were no consequences. but she whined about the assumption that she hadn't done anything about it.)
she also said that it wasn't just the transphobe's fault. "[transphobe] was not the only one at fault there in that others contributed to the conflict by engaging them, drawing out more of their unpleasant opinions. If I punished [problem person] alone, the others might think that they were in the right" that is a direct quote from the server owner. i was clearly the person she was speaking about, and she refused to enforce consequences on the transphobe because that might lead to me thinking that it was okay to call out transphobia and protect myself and other trans people in that space.
when i spoke to a few of the other mods about what happened, the response was disappointing, to put it mildly. the mod team had apparently tried to argue with her and get her to enforce a no bigotry policy but she was afraid of causing arguments and didn't want to deal with conflict, and so refused to do so. this is not acceptable behaviour for someone who is in charge of such a large space. you cannot be this conflict-averse and also run a server of hundreds of people, especially if the outcome is protecting bigots.
the mods i spoke to also got defensive and upset when i pointed out that by not expressing disagreement with the owner's actions and by throwing up their hands and saying 'oh well, nothing we can do!' they were also tacitly endorsing transphobia and a community that protects transphobes at the expense of trans people. they were unwilling to do anything in the moment, and failed to do anything after the fact either.
i have screenshots and proof of all of these events, but i didn't add them here bc i didn't want to make this even longer. please feel free to contact me directly if you would like any further information or to see proof of what i have mentioned here.
in short:
please do not join this server. you will not be protected there, as the server owner cares more about making it as big and as popular as possible than she does about keeping her server bigot-free. please do not promote this server or allow this server to be promoted in your own spaces either. please do your part to keep trans people in the whump community safe.

my unhinged rant about the whumptober discourse, below the readmore for the benefit of ppl who dont wanna see that crap. im just gonna go insane if i don't say this somewhere bc i feel like i'm losing my mind
this drama is genuinely so mind-blowingly stupid it's unreal, and it's been bothering me so much that i just HAVE to talk about it or i'm gonna go insane, if for no other reason than to get it out of my system. i honestly never expected the whump community to go on the kind of bad-faith tirade that's taking place.
disclaimer right here that i do not support AI scraping creative works without permission (like chatgpt and a whole host of AI art programs do) or these AI-generated works being passed off as legitimate creative works. obviously that stuff is bad, and literally everyone on all sides of this agrees it's bad. i used chatgpt exactly once one week after it came out, before i knew how shit it was, and haven't touched AI stuff since. because it steals from creators and it sucks.
now:
saying "whumptober supports/allows AI" when their official policy says plain as day:
"we are not changing our stance from last year’s decision"
"we will not amplify or include AI works in our reblogs of the event."
"we discourage the use of AI within Whumptober, it feels like cheating, and we feel like it isn’t in the spirit of the event."
is bonkers! whumptober is a prompt list, there is nothing TO the event other than being included in the reblogs. they literally cannot stop people from doing whatever they want with the prompts.
someone could go out and enact every single prompt in real life on a creativity-fueled serial killing spree and the whumptober mods couldn't do shit about it. it's not like it's a contest you submit to. it's a prompt list! someone could take every single prompt from the AI-less whumptober prompt list, feed it into chatgpt right now, and post them as entries. and the mods of THAT wouldn't be able to stop them either. because it's a prompt list.
the AI-less event have also made just... blatantly false claims, like that grammarly isn't AI. grammarly IS AI and they openly advertise this. hell, this is grammarly's front page right now:
Tumblr media
and this is a statement from grammarly about how its products work:
Tumblr media
its spellchecker / grammarchecker is AI-based! claiming it's not AI is just... lying. saying "this is an AI-less event" and then just saying any AI that you want to include doesn't count as AI is ludicrous.
and you know what? whumptober actually pointed this out. they said they don't want to ban AI-based assistive tools (like grammarly) for accessibility reasons. this post has several great points:
"AI is used for the predictive text and spellchecker that's running while I type this reply."
"Accessibility tools rely on AI." this is true and here's an article about it, though the article is a little too pro-AI in general for my tastes, there's nuances to this stuff. it's used for captioning, translation, image identification, and more. not usually the same kind of AI that's used for stuff like chatgpt. THERE ARE DIFFERENT KINDS!
"But we can't stop that, nor can we undo damage already done, and banning AI use (especially since we can't enforce it) is an empty stand on a hill that's already burning, at least in our view of things."
and people were UP IN ARMS over this post! their notes were full of hate, even though it's all true! just straight lying and saying that predictive text isn't AI (it is), that AI isn't used for accessibility tools (it is), that whumptober can somehow enforce an anti-AI policy (they can't because it's a prompt list).
in effect, both whumptobers have the EXACT SAME AI POLICY. neither allows AI-generated works, but both allow AI-based assistive tools like grammarly. everyone involved here is ON THE SAME SIDE, they all have the exact same opinion on how AI should be applied to events like this, and somehow they're arguing???
not to mention that no other whump event has ever had an AI policy. febuwhump, WIJ, bad things happen bingo, hell even nanowrimo doesn't have one.
and you wanna know the most ridiculous part of this entire thing? which is also the reason why none of the above events have an AI policy.
no one is doing this. no one is out there feeding whumptober prompts to chatgpt and posting them as fills for whumptober cred. it's literally a hypothetical, made-up issue. all of this infighting over a problem that DOESN'T EXIST.
to the point that people are brigading the whumptober server with shit like this:
Tumblr media
saying "everyone who participates in whumptober is a traitor, you should go participate in this other event with the exact same AI policy but more moral grandstanding about it" is silly. every single bit of this drama is silly.
in the end, please just be nice to people. we're ALL against the kind of AI that steals from creators. the whumptober mods are against AI, the AILWT mods are against AI, whumptober participants are against AI, AILWT participants are against AI. there is no mythical person out here trying to pass chatgpt work off as whumpfic. let's all just be civil with each other over this, yeah?

~Who are the Tumblr Mods?~ Mod Missy: She/They, Writer --will sign >Mod Missy when answering questions Mod Radio: They/It, Artist --will sign >Mod Radio when answering questions ~Some Frequently Asked Questions~ Q:Why did you make a separate Whumptober? A: We noticed the usual Whumptober has taken a strange stance in regards to AI, particularly a non-stance that doesn't seem to discourage AI usage in the way we and some others were hoping. This included saying AI had a place in writing as well as art, and saying defending against it was going down on an already burning hill. We disagree with this wholeheartedly. Q:What is AI-less Whumptober? A: Well, it's basically Whumptober...But with a firm stance against AI content. AI-less Whumptober will essentially function the same, with a list f prompts every day for the month of October, with the difference being that we actively disavow AI content and discourage it strongly
Q: What's so bad about AI?
A: AI in itself is a theft. It works off of cannibalizing other people's works, often without permission, and it CANNOT be used without this theft. The argument that you can just train it on your own work is entirely false, as even then with the AI apps used it compares, contrasts, and includes work that is plagiarized and stolen from artists and writers alike. AI IS NOT AN ACCESSIBILITY TOOL! Q: Okay, but is AI really that bad though? A: Yes, yes it is. here are some links. > the negative impacts of AI art on Artists >The Intellectual Property Problem
>AI in the publishing world: Are AI novels theft? >ChatGPT: The fight against AI Q: Do you have to post every single day? A: Nope! You can post any of the days you'd like. You can bounce around and do 10 different ones, or just 1, or all 31! If you're posting content you made under the hashtag #AIlesswhumptober2023, congratulations, you've participated in AI-less Whumptober! Q: Can I post NSFW? A: Absolutely! Just please keep everything under the read more, otherwise known as the cut. NSFW content will not be allowed in the Discord server. Q: Can I post OC content? A: Yes! AI-less Whumptober is a multi-fandom event that can include different fandoms or original content Q: Will your list of prompts be different from the regular Whumptober? A: Yes. The mods of AI-less Whumptober have come up with the 31 different prompts, as well as a few extras in case the theme of the day just isn't vibing with you! 3. How do I protect my work from AI?
Glaze is a great tool for protecting the art that you post, made by the awesome people at University of Chicago. As for writing, we're looking at finding solutions for this. We're open to suggestion! -->Our Discord<--

It's so frustrating that people are still going like "Why is AI-less whumptober a thing when the original whumptober people have said they discourage AI and won't reblog it 🤨" when in actuality:
Discouraging something is not the same as disallowing it. I'm not comfortable with an event that only 'discourages' the use of scraping AI instead of taking a stance against it
The reason whumptober said they want to discourage AI is because it 'feels like cheating', comically missing the point on why scraping AI should actually be disliked (ie that it's an inherently unethical tool made from cannibalized works of other creators, whose works are nonconsensually scraped in an act that should be considered art theft, and that has actively harmed the industry and other creators)
When this was pointed out, they went the ableist route of saying this sort of AI is fine because it's an accessibility tool. When educated on the difference between actual accessibility tools that use machine learning vs an AI built on scraping like ChatGTP, they accused me and several others of 'not actually being disabled
They refused to admit that AI that scrapes content against creators' consent is art theft. They said that even if it was, using the tool made of art theft is not the same as committing art theft yourself because the content was scraped anyway so might as well use the AI then. They said AI art was only a debate in fandom and said it has never harmed actual, real creators' income. When given links to prove the contrary, this went ignored
When asked what creators should do if they don't want their content scraped by an AI, whumptober said 'then just don't post it online. If it's online, people are going to steal it'. Which is a common art theft stance
They blocked people speaking out against them and said we were harassing them, all while deleting all evidence of the above, so they could spin the story as "we can't check every entry for AI and that makes people mad :(" and not "we don't actually discourage AI at all, we just think it's cheating but not art theft, and we're being ableist"
At least one of the whumptober mods - possibly multiple - actively reblog AI art on their main a lot. So 'discouraging' my ass, they just want to make their event look good but clearly think AI art is okay
If you're against scraping AI, you should be against whumptober. Period.

Kill-A-Character BINGO!
Welcome to the first official round of Kill-A-Character BINGO!
I'm sure you guys have a lot of questions to ask, but first please check out the getting started post and rules.
(Or check out out masterpost)
The idea for the Kill-A-Character BINGO first came about in 2020, when I the creator, accidentally kept killing my character during Whumptober, and I decided I wanted to make a challenge around it.
Apparently, people thought it was cool when I shared it on reddit, and now, it's a real challenge.
It has changed a lot in shape over the last few years. From some tiny event driven from a reddit post, till having a discord, to having other events and mods and staff. But this will be our biggest leap yet! Going from a small prompt challenge, to a full on Bingo!
Waow...
Tumblr media
The three main things you should know:
One:
The event is created with the idea of killing the same character for every single prompt. In spirit of the event I'll tell you that's a rule, but if you want to kill 25 different characters instead, that's totally cool as long as you tag accordingly.
Two:
It's a open fandom event, meaning that everyone can join in. With few exceptions. We do not allow AI generated text, imagines or other AI media. And we do not allow RPF (Real person fic)
Three:
The event officially started on January 1st, 2024. You can apply for cards already now, but won't receive them until the event begins. From there, you can request and receive cards throughout all of 2024.
We're starting early guys! Go get a bingo card :)
Don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions :) And remember to come join us on discord!

Two Weeks of Whump: Summary
Well the challenge has since past, but I just wanted to thank everyone again for taking part! I think I’ll keep this challenge as a yearly thing to mark the blogs anniversary - but I’ll organise it for the month of June so it doesn’t clash with Whumpmas In July!
There were many great submissions and I enjoyed checking them out! (Though I am very sorry if I missed anyone - please tell me if I did! - I did try my best to lurk in the tags/mentions)
Over on AO3 there have been 25 fics across 11 fandoms!
Fandoms: Avatar (James Cameron Film), The Amazing Spiderman, Batman, Detroit: Become Human, Empires SMP, Gravity Falls, Merlin, Sly Cooper, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, The Transformers (IDW Generation One) Venom.
Here on Tumblr there have been approx.128 posts across 20 fandoms (not including original/OC works), and 16 different users with posts ranging from giftsets, art, fanfics and original works!
So major props to:
@dalekdi | @jedi-lothwolf | @janetm74fics | @sodascribbles | @keeper-of-all-the-random-things | @shywhumpauthor | @isamajor | @whumpsday | @dresden-syndrome | @sowhumpful | @dollopheadedmerlin
Especially the completionists:  @em-writes-stuff | @how-much-for-a-whump | @heymanatee and @ktkat99 | @cyborg0109
Sadly I cannot offer a badge this year or more comprehensive stats, though I’m sure that I’ll be able to prepare something for next year, given I’ll have more experience after helping to mod Whumptober.
Once again, thank you all so much for checking it out/taking part, it’s been so fun seeing what our very talented community has been working on - I’ll see you all again for Whumptober!
Surro :)

Last year, our small fandom celebrated our favorite tiny corner of the Star Wars universe.
Now, we do it all again!
I AM HAPPY TO ANNOUNCE:
KALEESH WEEK 2023!
LET'S GET READY TO RRRRUMBLE!
Tumblr media
Details and rules under the cut!
Welcome back to Kaleesh Week! I am so excited to have another one of these! Without further ado:
What is Kaleesh Week?
Kaleesh Week is a week dedicated to the small but thriving subset of the Star Wars fandom that loves General Grievous and his people, the Kaleesh. Similar to much more well-known fandom celebrations such as Smaugust, Mermay, or Whumptober, Kaleesh Week can pertain to any medium of choice.
What are the rules?
The rules are simple, but should be followed to ensure the happiness of all participants and make my job as archivist easier!
Any type of creation is allowed, whether art, fanfiction, gifs, videos, or anything else. As long as it's Kaleesh-related, there's no problem
Remember to properly tag all triggers
Remember to tag your entries with #kaleesh week, #kaleeshweek, #kaleesh week 2023, or #kaleeshweek2023, it will help me keep track of them all so I can reblog them
Also, please tag me in your posts so that I can be sure to see and reblog them! If I missed one, don't hesitate to tell me
It isn't strictly necessary to follow along every day, this is meant to be fun! Post whenever you like, whether that's all seven days or just one. You can also post anytime after the week if you'd like
Alternate prompts can be used to mix and match in any way you'd like with the standard prompts, so go crazy
And last but not least, have fun!
What are the prompts, and what's the deal with alternate prompts?
The two lists of prompts are there to give any participants more freedom with whatever they'd like to create. Alternate prompts are a set of prompts that anybody can use in place of the current prompt. You don't need to choose either the regular prompts OR the alternate prompts, instead, you can decide each day if you'd like to use one of the prompts or one of the alternate prompts. If you aren't feeling one prompt, you can swap it out with any of the alternate prompts, as out of order as you'd like.
Prompts:
Khan
Empire
Demigod
Pups
Wives
Injury
Ascension
Alternate Prompts:
Izvoshra
Droids
Oben
The Force
Republic
Jedi
Sith
I'd like to join the General Grievous Discord server! Where do I sign up?
If you'd like to come hang out with us at the Kaleeaboos server, simply PM me! We have all sorts of fun stuff going on, and a pretty chill vibe. I'm one of the mods there along with some other big names in the Grievous fandom. Come hang with us!
And finally, good luck, and have fun!

Sparktober Bingo 2023!
So excited to bring you this year’s collection of bingo prompts! As in previous years, we have collected a bunch of 2023 -tober prompt lists (found on this google sheet in the tober 2023 tab, with relevant links and hashtags. Check out the originals!). This year, we have also included generic tropes and additional rp/ask post prompts.
Add in a list of Atlantis episodes, crank up the soft-serve machine, and…
Tumblr media
How to Play:
Choose all prompts or a mix of “flavors” from the prompt sets below the cut, then paste it into this fandom bingo card generator.
Adjust your browser size til it looks right and take a screenshot!
On mobile? Can’t generate your own? Generally sounds annoying? Check out this post for some pre-generated randomized bingo cards that you can take!
Sparktober Bingo Rules: (there are no rules)
Complete a row/column, corners, or a blackout of your card by November 1, or not! Update as you go. Spontaneously declare victory whenever you feel accomplished.
Tag #sparktober so people can see your bingo cards and creations!
All fan-works are encouraged: art, edits, fic, meta…
You are allowed to pull multiple cards until you get one that inspires you (hit “refresh” on the generated bingo card page).
You can also edit the prompt list as much as you want in advance to suit your likes and dislikes. Each “flavor” list is alphabetized.
There were tons of dialogue prompts this year in all categories, so those have been collected together in their own category.
Use the prompts liberally! “The Long Goodbye” could be an episode-related fic or a fic about saying goodbye or inspiration for a Raymond Chandler-esque Noir Detective AU. Go wild!
Flavor descriptions:
The prompt lists are below, in the following text blocks. Copy any or all of them into the bingo card generator!
VANILLA: Gen prompt lists from Fictober, Inktober, Flufftober, Trektober’s Gen and Trek lists, general tropes, and some prompts from various ask/rp prompt lists (additional lists and links are in the google doc).
CHOCOLATE: Smut themed prompt lists from Trektober NSFW and the #fawktober2023 kinktober list, and a few bonus tropes.
ROCKY ROAD: Whump prompts from the ever-fabulous whumptober! The multiple-choice-prompts-per-day have been broken into individual prompts.
COOKIE DOUGH: Dialogue prompts sourced from gen, whump, and rp prompt lists.
SEA SALT: Atlantis episode list (in order, in case you only want to copy certain seasons), along with Atlantis and SG-1 characters and some franchise-specific prompts.
THE WORKS: All of the above! For this flavor, copy and paste everything below the readmore. :)
Mod note: If you’re editing the list, make sure there’s a semi-colon (;) between your prompts. If you have semi-colons without prompts, you might end up with blank spaces. If you get a server error when using the bingo card generator, have some ice cream and try again!

Note
Not the anon who asked.
The "clogging a small fandom's page" is more about other authors in that small fandom, imho.
As someone who writes for a small fandom, I wouldn't be thrilled to have a one shot I maybe worked two months on pushed down to page two or three just because someone participates in a daily challenge month.
I personally always post my monthly prompt one shots as a multichapter collection, if they're for the same fandom, same characters and same pairing.
Wouldn't do that with my normal one shots, but I don't blast out 31 one shots in a normal month. xD
Most casual readers don't look beyond page one, at least in my fandom.
Another opinion on the question "how to post 31 works on ao3" :)

- Day 31 -
Who is someone you admire?
---
Honestly I admire any and all writer, artist, gifmaker, and poster on here because I know how unfairly difficult it is to balance real life responsibilities with the hobbies we want to pursue. Everyone who posts like every week, how on EARTH-
But I think I'm gonna give the specific shoutout to the people organizing any and all events and community spaces for us whumpers: creators of discord servers like @straight-to-the-pain, @pythagoreanwhump, @whumplovers-collaborate, and many others who give us a place to talk and make friends; mods of @whumptober, @febuwhump, @figuwhump, and obviously @whumpmasinjuly who keep our ideas flowing and prompt hundreds of creative works every year which would likely not be made if it weren't for them; the incredible undertaking of @whumpapedia. I have nothing but the deepest admiration and respect for the people involved in the complex, varied, and frankly infinite task of managing those initiatives.

FAQ
What is a mini bang? How does this work?
This event is mainly a form of collaboration between fandom artists and writers. The event will start with writers creating a summary of their fic and a short excerpt which participating artists will then make artwork inspired by these fanfictions in return. During the reveal timeframe, these works will be made available to the fandom.
You might have taken part in a big bang event before, but this event is intended to be a scaled down version of this. Our word count minimum for participating writers is 3K words and the upper limit will be approximately 20K words. This event will also only span the length of three months in total.
Who can participate? How do I sign up?
Anyone (18+ though)! We do not have any requirements other than age for writers or artists, but we do ask that you join the event in good faith.
Sign-up dates and links to google surveys are listed in the Event Information post pinned to this blog. If you wish to confirm you have successfully enrolled in the event, please contact the mods and will make sure you are.
What level of complexity is expected for art pieces?
We welcome any skill level for this event! All we ask is that your piece is fully complete at the time of posting and is more than just a sketch.
Can I sign up as both a writer and an artist?
Absolutely! In fact, we’re encouraging it! As many of us in the Clone Wars/Prequels/Obi-Wan fandom circles are likely aware, there are not as many artists as there are writers in this particular fandom. We want to ensure all the writers participating are able to get artwork to go with their fanfic.
Can I sign up to make art for multiple fanfics?
Yes, we are also encouraging this! If you are an artist willing to make more than one piece for the event, we would love to be able to use this as an option in the case our writers outnumber our artists (which is very likely). When filling out your sign-up, please answer the prompt regarding how many pieces of art you are willing to make for the event.
Keep in mind, even if you are willing to make multiple pieces, there is a chance this will not be necessary based on the sign-ups from other artists.
Will I need to fill out two sign-up forms if I am planning to be both an artist and a writer?
No, please just indicate on the sign-up form you would like to be both when prompted.
Are the mods planning to participate in the event?
Yes, we are both participating.
What is considered to be “whump?”
We would like the fics and artwork to be whump-centric. What do we mean by that? Well, you just need to hurt Obi-Wan really. It’s up to you whether you want to comfort him or not. We aren’t looking to limit your creativity, just as long as Obi-Wan gets some good old fashioned pain & suffering.
Consider some of the following tags on Ao3 if you want to get a better idea of what we’re looking for: Hurt/Comfort, Whumptober 2023, Chronic Illness, Sickfic, Major character injury, Major character death, Injury Recovery, Whump, Disability
Is shipping permitted?
We would like to keep the primary focus of the event on whumping Obi-Wan. Can that include a relationship? Sure, but we encourage participants to keep this as a secondary aspect of the fic. We want to make sure artists are able to find fics that match their interests and it will be more difficult if most of the fics include ships and our artists are not interested in those particular ones.
Can fanfics and art be NSFW?
Yes. Artists will need to ensure writer prompts and fic information fit within what they are comfortable with during the claims process.
Are there other rules regarding what can/can’t be written about?
No, as long as everything is tagged appropriately. Go buckwild. We encourage violence and crimes (committed against Obi-Wan, of course).
And because it needs to be said, the mods subscribe to the “don’t like, don’t read” policy.
How do artists pick/claim writer prompts?
Before the claims period (exact dates TBD, but the first week of February or January 31st) writers will be required to submit both a summary of their fic, as well as a short excerpt that helps to give artists a good idea of the content of their fic. Additionally, writers will list what rating their fic is planned to be and any warnings artists should be aware of before choosing to work on the fic.
During the claims period, artists will review the writers submissions (which will be anonymous for the sake of fairness) and report which prompts they would most like to work on. From there, mods will match artists to prompts based on their votes.
How long do writers have to finish their fics?
Writers will have approximately 11-12 weeks to fully complete their fics. However, there is an expectation that a summary and excerpt (100 to 500 words) are finished in time for the artist's claims. Currently, the due date for the summary and written excerpts is January 31st. The remainder of the fic can be worked on continuously up until the reveal week.
How long will artists have to finish their pieces?
Artists will have approximately 7-8 weeks to finish their pieces.
Will there be a discord server for the event and is it mandatory to join?
Yes and yes. Sorry dudes another discord for another event. Mostly, it makes it easier for mass communication purposes and will be the main way us as mods will communicate with participants. You are required to join the server and the mods will send a link to the server to you once your sign-up has been approved.
As an aside, we will not be communicating via email throughout the event other than to send a link to the discord server if you would like to receive it this way. Though the sign-ups will require an email address, our expectation is all event communication will take place on discord.
Can fics be shared outside of the event before the reveal week?
No. All fics and artwork should only be discussed with event participants until the reveal week. The only exception to this rule is beta readers, but remind them to practice discretion.
Are there any check-ins?
There will be one check-in for both writers and artists each. This will take place about one month from the reveal week and will serve the purpose of ensuring everyone is on track to finish their work in time.

Hello, my lovelies!
My apologies for how late this is! I meant to get the prompt list posted earlier this month so there was time for brainstorming, but real life has once again blocked my good intentions, alas. However, I have gotten everything together today, which is good, because I know it is already October for some of you!
Anyway, below the cut is the a list of prompts that the other mods over on the 7KPP Discord and I have put together for Promptober! You are welcome to complete as few or as many as you would like, in any medium you care for! If you find yourself lacking in inspiration for any of these, might we also recommend looking at these Fictober or Whumptober 1 and Whumptober 2 prompt lists for other ideas! We're not picky if you prefer not to follow our prompts! We're just hoping to provide some inspiration to create more!
If you do decide to participate at all, please either mention us, or tag "7KPP Promptober 2023" in your post, so we can reblog your wonderful creation for everyone who follows us to see!
Have fun, and happy creating!
