gosh i'd like to get into gaming but like everything is expensive and i wouldn't even know where or how to start

#mostly pc games i think #recommendations are welcome! #gaming #like my gaming experience is limited to a few 2000s-pc games the nintendo dc (+dsi+3ds) and the ps2 and ps3 #oh and the gameboy advence sp! #all of those consoles where my older sibling's first (8 year age gap) so i have never in my life bought a game console #i think i's like to play minecraft (yes really) (i played the ps3 version but i'd like to play the pc version) #and like uncharted and tomb raider #oh and jedi fallen order and survivor ofcourse #the only reason i'd buy a switch is to play animal crossing (ac new leaf is one of my favorite games) but like that's noit woth it #and like i think that small indie games are cute #i actually think that game development seems really fun (but also like those people do get not paid that well and they are often overworked #like i had to make a word search in java for a uni project and i thought that was really fun #kj post

I’m not sure which is worse:

BioWare saying practically everything is “about a year ago” and not aging characters appropriately (*cough* Wynne, Loghain, Eamon, Teagan *cough*)

Or Bethesda setting things “after the Great War” which was 25-30 years ago but having characters talk like the event was less than a decade ago and only aging characters maybe 10 years. (*glares at Skyrim and Fallout 76… and a little bit at Fallout 4 too*)

I usually make one of these doodles for the weeks my friends play DND as a reminder we play that week (though sometimes we have to cancel y'know how it is), and I put special effort into this weeks since it's the new year! My guy is half dragon, tis his year!

#musings #a friend's enthusiasm sold me on hollow knight and they made me try it and I really want to play it #but even if I could buy it right now I'm torn between pc and switch #the friend has it on pc so I know I COULD learn the commands but I do think a controller would be nice (which I don't have) #so I think switch could possibly be a good platform for me to play it except I of course have no idea how it is to play on switch #and my switch drifts so I don't know if that would be an issue—my experience with the game would surely suffer if it is #(however the drifting mostly only affects animal crossing and I don't know why) #but it just occurred to me that! You know i wouldn't even care that much about the weapon crafting exploit IF I COULD ALSO DO IT. But it's significantly more difficult to do on console, and I'm not bricking my fucking xbox to be able to do it. It's great for Bungie to be like have fun crafting you funny guns! I'd LOVE to but for a portion of your players the exploit is mechanically more difficult to perform. I'd love to make the most fucked up bow possible BUT I cannot. Like idk theres exploits and then there's exploits that break the entire fucking game. Like it's only going to get worse the more weapons people craft. Sorry but I will be a no fun allowed bitch about this. You can't even compare to laser tag bc laser tag was equal playing ground, not everyone is going into pvp with this exploit. i think walking into PvE and soloing hard content with the most fucked up gun imaginable is actually the most valid perfect thing to do ever with this exploit, I just think it's evil to walk into pvp with the most fucked up gun ever and start curb stomping other players who don't have fucked up guns. Feel free to curb stomp every single ammit-shotgun frame user you see though.

i do think it’s perfectly fun and sexy when, for whatever reason, be it serialized canon that goes off in a wildly divergent direction after you’ve had a big chunk of extrapolated-upon status quo (actual plays are very susceptible to this), too much time between new content where fandom developed its own tropes and tumors, or just outgrowing a piece of media (and/or its quality of representation) before you’re done making content inspired by it, fan creators DO end up exporting their basically-an-oc to their own webcomic or oc universe or whatever

#i didn't really follow them but i heard tell of a lot of people doing that with their taako headcanons #also i know that some of the ex-oncelers absolutely did that too #it's also very funny every time you find some somewhat old fnaf art then check the person's blog #and they're currently doing a lot of content about really obvious william and henry expys #i also kept having to do this with tabletop campaigns like #corv and i would make these super fun character duos and then the game would fall apart and we'd port them off #and have to make a handful of new characters to take the place of other people's pcs and npcs that were important to the premise #(which idk. might be disrespectful but also we mostly kept it to ourselves) #i genuinely think it's fun. sometimes there IS a really good premise (or half a premise) in something that's not being used. steal it! #obviously i haven't been that shy about the fact that i think 'college besties fixated on animatronics and cartoon animals #end up going into the entertainment business after both starting families and it requires an international move and ends in a weird fallout #and personal tragedy' is a fun premise for some guys to have even without any supernatural elements #and so i stole it! it's not better than the murdery version to have it as a slice of life work sitcom but i think its fun and i like it

I've seen reviews of Cult of The Lamb, and the only way I can describe it is "a casual roguelite mixed with Animal Crossing". It's not super hard, controls are crispy and manageable, and it has a fishing minigame in there I think! So if you want something to play that won't make you break your controller, this is definitely the game for you!

I heard the same as well, tough for me to imagine since I haven't played Animal Crossing nor rogue like games (which are type of games I'm not interested in, something about having to start over after making some progress and then losing it to try again feels extremely draining for me who enjoys exploration and easy pace games more)

I'm sure it's a fun game, friend also told me it is but I'm definitely sure it's not for me XD Happy folks are having fun with it though!
