Today I will be honoring Neil Perry, may he rest in peace. We will never know his great face any longer.

' Like a blanket that leaves your feet cold,
You push it you, stretch it but it'll never be enough
You kick at it, you beat it
It'll never cover any of us.
From the moment we enter crying, to the moment we leave dying,
It'll just cover your face, as you wail, cry and scream

DPS: Forced Confessions and Conformity
Halfway through the film there’s a scene of Keating teaching the students a lesson about conformity. What he does is basically make them all walk around a courtyard but to do it in a way that represents themselves. A few of the students end up all walking the same pace and stride in a line and this leads to Keating being like “be yourself walk like yourself” so he encourages them to find their stride “even if the herd goes, that’s bad”. Everyone has their own unique stride and pace.
After Neil’s suicide Todd is called into Nolan’s (principle) office and has to sign off on Keatings termination. Throughout the entire film Todd has been finding his pace and when he and Neil were at their highest moments he found it. However, after Neil is gone everything goes back to grey like it was at the beginning of the film and there’s a scene of Todd following Nolan up the stairs.
Todd had finally found his pace and stride but now as he walks behind Nolan he walks with Nolan’s pace and stride and demeanour. Neil was Todd’s stride, he encouraged him to be proud of himself but now that he’s gone Todd doesn’t know who or what he is and he’s been forced to conform again.

"And I was catching my breath
Staring out an open window
Catching my death
And I couldn't be sure
I had a feeling so peculiar
That this pain would be for
Evermore
Hey December
Guess I'm feeling unmoored
Can't remember
What I used to fight for"
-evermore by Taylor Swift
You can't convince me that she didn't write this about him.
He died on December 15.
"And I was catching my breath
Barefoot in the wildest winter
Catching my death
And I couldn't be sure
I had a feeling so peculiar
That this pain would be for
Evermore"
"And I was catching my breath
Floors of a cabin creaking under my step
And I couldn't be sure
I had a feeling so peculiar
This pain wouldn't be for
Evermore"
