i’m very, very ace, so it will literally never occur to me that people might find a person or character attractive until i’m confronted by clear evidence of the fact. i straight-up forget that sexual attraction exists until someone reminds me, and when they do i always have a moment of bewilderment as i have to re-calibrate my understanding. and like, it’s fine, usually it’s just a little blip of ‘oh, right, that’s a thing people feel,’ but depending on a) how dramatic the reminder is and b) who it’s being applied to, sometimes it takes a little longer for me to process.
anyway. i think my brain is still trying to come to terms with the week Reigen Arataka has been having on Twitter.

my pinned post made so many people soooo mad but i literally only made it because people were constantly assuming things about me and my experiences. i wouldn't think this shit mattered, which is why i never disclosed any of it in the first place, if not for the fact that random people kept making shit up about me to discredit my opinions. also it's hilarious that there's some pushback to me listing bloggers i don't like the opinions of when these people are constantly publicly blasting other bloggers for not liking their opinions. so blatantly hypocritical lmao

Sir Pentious & Alastor: an underrated dynamic
Tumblr media
"Show yourself, Alastor! Come and face--! Oh, there you are. FACE MY WRATH!"
Sir Pentious has been in Hell for much longer than Alastor. That means he was there when the Radio Demon appeared, and he's been trying to overthrow Alastor for decades! We know what Alastor is capable of, and what he could do if he truly wanted Sir Pentious to stop. He obviously doesn't register Sir Pentious as a threat, but that doesn't mean he's not annoying (like when he interrupts his song in the pilot and destroys a wall in ep2). Yet in all those decades, Alastor always let him go with the equivalent of a slap on the wrist, considering what he's done to other sinners in his broadcasts.
And why is that? Why, he must find Sir Pentious very entertaining, of course! Even though he calls Sir Pentious forgettable (to rile him up), there's no way a narcissist like him doesn't LOVE being the main focus of Pentious' "evil plans", as pathetic as they are. Not only does he give him the attention he deserves (like Vox), he's a true "architect of evil" who constantly reinvents himself to try and get the upper hand on Alastor. To Alastor, Pentious is like a sillier, weaker, more immature version of Vox with close to ZERO survival instincts but twice the creativity. Even Vox, who made a whole diss track about Al, wouldn't dare speak to him the way Sir Pentious does if they were face to face.
Tumblr media
"SILENCE! Now cower! For when I've ssslain you, the almighty Vees will finally acknowledge me as their equal."
He does have some "oh shit" moments when he sees he crossed a line/is about to get Team Rocket-ed, but he still gets back up and attacks him again with all the unearned confidence of a man who has no idea how easy Alastor goes on him.
Just like Alastor, Pentious is attached to the aesthetics and technology of the time period he knew when he was alive, and still manages to innovate with those limitations. I think Alastor could respect that.
"You whores have no class! In war, the side remembered is the side with the most style!"
It's also funny that to Pentious, Alastor is the young, modern one. Some phrases Alastor uses are "young people slang" to him!
Pentious asking Alastor questions on his "modern" radio technology...
Alastor is one sarcastic bastard, and Sir Pent is one of the most naive characters in the show. He takes a lot of things way too literally (#autism?). That's just PERFECT for comedic misunderstandings between these two!
Before s1 was released there were quite a lot of ace!Pentious headcanons. I think we could still make a case for closeted ace-adjacent!Pentious in canon! Possibility even aroace!Pentious, if we interpret his crush on Cherri as compulsive heteronormativity (he loves her creative genius and is fascinated by her explosive contraptions; surely that means she's the one, right?)
Ace4Ace Alastor & Pentious would be a fun duo in my opinion. They could bond over their shared experience
On the topic of bonding... ("I have feelings for you" (Narrator voice: the feeling was friendship, but he had ever experienced it before)
Seriously, imagine Sir Pentious spending more and more time around Alastor because of the hotel, taking his sarcastic and mocking remarks literally and thinking they're becoming closer... And then being like. WAIT. Do I have feelings for him?? and trying to seduce him like he does with Cherri Bomb. The absolute shenanigans... Rizzlord Pentious strikes again.
Accidental fake dating scenario that only exists in Vox's head, where Vox, being the stalker that he is, spies in the two of them bonding and reaches all the wrong conclusions
Once Sir Pentious dies for the second time and ascends to Heaven, he could meet Alastor's mom 👀
EDIT: OH and How could I forget the Egg Boiz?? Egg Boiz babysitter!Alastor is canon and he definitely babysat them multiple times in the few months Sir Pentious spent at the hotel. Joint custody :3
AND let's not forget the important information that Frank the Egg Boy reported to Sir Pentious lol. The one Charlie made a deal with Alastor for. I can imagine Alastor considering killing the Egg Boiz/ Sir Pentious after learning Frank didn't keep quiet (Imagine Sir Pentious trying to engage in a conversation w/ Alastor and telling him what Frank told him as a joke akfkkd), spending a whole afternoon trailing after them and making plans, only to realise that the Egg Boiz say insane shit all the time and Sir Pentious was in fact NOT playing 4D chess by telling him he knew (and probably already forgot all about it)

Trey Info Compilation part 3: Deuce
Trey’s first act as “Stargazer” for the Wish Upon a Star event is to follow Deuce, who immediately gets into an argument about wishing stars.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Crowley encourages Trey to guide Deuce during the event, for which Deuce apologizes. When Idia refuses to participate in person Trey asks Crowley to consider not pressing the issue too hard, out of concern that Idia may drop out entirely.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
When poor weather looks like it may require the cancellation of the entire event Trey says that continuing on with rehearsals and just hoping for the best doesn’t seem like a good use of their time, with which Idia enthusiastically agrees.
Deuce asks them to reconsider and Trey acquiesces, saying that Riddle would have their heads if the weather clears up and they haven't practiced.
Deuce confides his dream of becoming a magic marshal to the group, and in Book 5 Trey explains an international organization called “the Arcane Response Unit,” which seems connected.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
When Deuce scares off a pair of bullies who were threatening to disrupt the Starsending event Trey compliments him on his self control. In a voice line Deuce says that, during practice, he “accidentally clotheslined Trey.”
When Cater invites Deuce to join the team that is attempting to seduce Eliza he refuses, but Ace successfully tricks him into joining by invoking Trey: “Oh, so you’re just gonna abandon Trey?…I’m sure Trey’s just waiting for you to swoop in and save the day.”
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Deuce enthusiastically denies to join the team, saying, “Trey deserves to have his revenge. I’ll be the guy to deliver it.”
Cater observes, “Oh, Deucey. You can’t even see how he’s playing you.”
Deuce also comes to Trey’s aid during Spectral Soiree when Sebek calls Trey’s hobby of toothbrushing bizarre, saying, “Hey, don’t make fun of him. Trey’s parents run a bakery, so naturally he follows their advice and is real thorough about brushing his teeth…but he also looks out for the people around him, so they can enjoy their sweets more.”
Deuce defends Trey a third time in a vignette where he calls Ace out for saying that Trey’s cares “were getting samey.” Ace points out, “Trey’s a chill guy. It’d take more than that to make him mad.”
Deuce agrees with, “He’s kindhearted and caring—a pretty rare combo among our student body.”
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Deuce’s opinion on Trey comes up in another vignette where he says, “Trey’s kind enough to let minor errors in judgement slide if you work to make up for it…(he has) always had a kind older brother thing going on…(he is) always calmly watching over us.”
Deuce goes to Trey's defense a fourth time during the Wish Upon a Star event when two bullies begin to mock him, saying, "I don't care what you say about me. But if you're gonna diss Trey like that, then you and I have a problem!" (Trey is revealed to have been hiding behind a pillar to allow Deuce deal with the bullies on his own).
When Trey actually agrees with the bullies, saying, "I get what they meant. Dancing in this getup IS embarrassing. Which is why I was trying to avoid being seen." Deuce responds, "Why would you say that, Trey? You look great in that outfit."
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Deuce says he can’t even imagine Trey getting angry. Trey says that Deuce will beg him for help with his studies (“I’m glad he’s committed, at least”) and when Trey gets a box of assorted cookies and candies from an upscale hotel during New Year’s he makes a point of inviting Deuce to join the group for tea to eat them.

So I Finally Finished a Playthrough of Baldur's Gate 3
It's been months of playing over my holidays and the weekends, but I've finally completed my first playthrough of what was deemed Game of the Year for 2023.
As someone whose only D&D experiences come from the two movies (the bad one that traumatized me as a kid by killing Snails and the good one that deserves more love) and Critical Role, I didn't know much of what I was getting into, only my coworkers saying 'buy it, it's a masterpiece' unanimously when I inquired about it. Having no idea how to play or the lore, I was very much entering blind.
Continued down the Keep Reading
So, I'm sure we gotta get through the first set of questions so let's get to them.
What was your Tav? It took a long time to realise that 'Tav' meant your player character among fanpages, I can't tell you why it's Tav still, but I only pieced it together from Durge naming too. My Tav is Dec, short for December because that's when I started playing and I couldn't waste too much time on stream thinking up a clever name. He was a High Elf Guild Artisan, for Class I started as a Beast Master Ranger, ironic that Ranger is deemed one of the lesser classes among the community, I was adamant to not use archery at the start but by the end of it I was a Crossbow Expert. I went 9/3 with Rogue to get Assassin, but then respec'd my Ranger into a Gloomstalker, since I never really summoned the bear (probably should've learned from Sam's constant dissing of Trinket eh?) plus when I remembered Dread Ambusher it gave me 3 attacks on the first turn. He has combustible blood thanks to Araj and some tadpole powers after consuming them after the creche incident made him more open to trusting the Dream Visitor; Charm - which failed 90% of the time - Psionic Backlash, Favourable Beginnings and Luck of the Far Realms used mainly, I had Stage Fright and Force Tunnel but didn't use it, same for Cull the Weak. Likes to talk things through, especially with Persuasion/Charisma buffing invisible hats. Has the Duellist's Perogative Sword and the Swire's Sledboard Shield for Melee, and the AC bonus, plus the Armor of Agility giving him an evasive 24 AC with Advantage thanks to 20 DEX and the Cloak of Displacement.
Tumblr media
You can't see his scar and tattoo too well from here but I had to show off his Black Furnace and Red dye on his armour it looks too good. Here's a better look of his face:
Tumblr media
For his tattoo and scarring I like to think he got the tattoo after the burn, in some ways distracting it from the scarring.
Did you Save Scum? Don't Lie to Me! Yes and I'm not sorry about it. If you wanna invite me to a D&D table I'll follow the rules and how the dice lands but there's a lot more wiggle room there than in a game where there's finite dialogue options. I was also not going to sit there and let my companions turn against me just because the game fancied throwing continual Nat 1s or low rolls at me, nor would I let Omeluum die in the Iron Throne, or end up leaving the Mirror of Loss empty handed. I bought the game so if I wanna carve this experience this way I shall carve it this way, I get some people see the Morally Good path as boring for this kind of gaming but I like to be good, it feels good, and I want good things to happen for my allies, even if it means having to undo most of their religious indoctrination. But, it did take a while for me to start save scumming, really it was freeing Halsin that started it but it didn't become regular until Auntie Ethel. I only really did it for dialogue/lore expansion (or when there were two dialogue options I was between which I hoped would be interpreted how I expect it to) and for necessary buff rolls like the Mirror of Loss, but sometimes I did it to keep some key NPCs alive like Jaheira, who died at Moonrise the first time.
Who did you usually team up with? Kinda a harem squad since I had Lae'zel, Shadowheart and Karlach. I was very combat-oriented; Lae'zel adding support to Karlach's melee or Dec's ranged combat while Shadowheart made up for most of the magic with heals, summons and like 100 scrolls in her bag (Dec horded about 100 different arrows and poisons too, sometimes pays off). I respec'd her to Light Domain after the Nightsong stuff to fit her character and hair change - though I must admit I preferred the black hair - and gave her my Adamantine Splint Armour for defences plus the ring and Balduran's Helm for +5 healing each turn. Lae'zel was a Battle Master, clad in the Helldusk set, though I didn't use much of her Superiority dice moves; the enemies often made saves against it even with 18 strength (20 after the mirror of loss, and higher at endgame thanks to an Elixir of Cloud Giant Strength), I relied more on her brute force, plus reaction skills like Executioner and Sentinel, plus the Silver Sword of the Astral Plane. Karlach was a 9/3 Bear Heart Barbarian and Champion Fighter, I did respec her for the Feats but the Bone armour, Balduran's Greatsword and Brutal Jump also helped at times, plus the Gauntlets of Hill Giant Strength and the Amulet of Greater Health made her a high damage, near-200 Health-on-Rage machine (over 200 thanks to the +30 extra health at the final battle). I tended not to swap around a lot, I couldn't abandon my healer, loved Karlach's personality and I had sentiment for Lae'zel being the first person I encountered, she has the sad eyes too, but I did do some rare switching for personal quests. Initially I started with Astarion, but that's because of a misunderstanding of who Karlach was - more on that later - and it turned out that I wasn't doing much for stealth, I brought him for Cazador though, much like I brought Wyll for Ansur and Gale for the Book of Karsus. Later in Act 3 I played around with dyes and equipped everyone, out of fear that I may be sprung unprepared like with Orin - Halsin only had a torch - by all campmates joining the fight, it didn't happen but everyone at least looks stylish.
Tumblr media
I go between whether I like Wyll's colours though, on one hand he looks like a Templar and the white would stand out in Avernus, other times he looks like a cosplayer XD Minsc and Jaheira needed no dyes the colours already suited well, but I do love the colours I chose for Astarion, Halsin and Karlach.
Who did you fuck? (romance) Probably would've been asked sooner but sadly Dec became an unintended bachelor, at least outside of the headcanon. He did share a night of passion with Lae'zel after freeing the Emerald Grove but it wasn't something he wanted to pursue further, our dynamic was more befitting of two soldiers, or at least a dynamic where we think we're the General and the other the Advisor. Had Shadowheart took 'later' for her drink offer as 'I want to see all the dialogues other characters have first' rather than a refusal there might have been a romance there, instead I feel we fell into a more sibling bond, she can be a bit too sassy at times in passing dialogue - I had hoped to see more development with her and Lae'zel eventually being friends. Wyll did his best to throw sad puppy eyes at me when I refused to dance with him but it just made things more awkward, Gale meanwhile probably was gonna make moves when teaching me the Weave but he was very hung up on Mystra for me to entertain it, I sat with him when he felt the mortal coil though. Astarion I think made a passing suggestion but nothing of substance, Halsin left it late after he got kidnapped by Orin - I didn't realise he had to physically join the party to be a part of the group until Act 3 - coming onto me right before I confronted the Brain which was quickly turned down. I believe Minsc and Jaheira are unable to be romanced atm, and I did not fuck the Emperor; it weirded me out that he just was there shirtless chilling next to my unconscious dream state. We killed Minthara, didn't know you could recruit or romance her in a Morally Good path. Which left Karlach, fuck did I want to romance Karlach, not for lack of trying either; but because when I met Wyll he was talking about killing her I immediately assumed 'oh Karlach must be that woman on the cover with him' (aka 'the bitch who could've been cool if she wasn't such a bitch' Mizora, who I also wouldn't have romanced given the option) and stuck a pin in it, I was also unaware that most Act 1 romance stuff would come to a head at the end of the Emerald Grove quest which I prioritized so I only encountered Karlach after I saved Halsin and the Grove, meaning I couldn't reach Dammon until Act 2. By then Karlach seemed to be locked out of romance, perhaps for another misunderstanding on my part too since I did upgrade her engine twice at Lost Light very swiftly, but it still was a knife to the heart after all that and the date at the circus that she called us 'just mates' to Fytz. All this and then they give us a better kissing patch ¬_¬
Yes so sad, anyway what about ~Astarion~? Astarion is popular, and I know why he's popular, and the scene of him killing Cazador was very well done...but Astarion for me though was just fine; I mean you guys see Karlach right? Part of the reason she stays my group was that I can't bear to part from her. A lot of the times my Morally Good options didn't align with Astarion's brand of pessimistic chaos, so he spent a lot of time in camp as I mispronounced his name until I heard it be properly said, which probably hampered his story a bit more, but we had a close enough friendship that he heeded my advice with the Ascension and the spawn, wish he reacted to me getting a painting of him since he can't see his reflection though, felt like something could've been done there. Jaheira was a fun personality too, angry old lady who says it like it is, kinda wish we had more to her quest, seeing her home and her interacting with her wards/children was interesting, Minsc was charming too in his simple way, would've been cool if he had more of a presence as well, like we could hear about Minsc and the Stone Lord in separate lights earlier in the game to build up to him. On that topic, I was surprised to find that there wasn't a companion for each role, I suppose there were constraints but Aylin and Zevlor both worked as Paladins, Alfira a Bard (though I don't think anyone would dare put her in the line of fire), I suppose there's little need for a Sorcerer when you had a Wizard or a Monk when you had a Fighter and Barbarian but it was strange, you get 2 Druids and your Ranger is built more like a Fighter or Barbarian (the latter I added to Minsc). I'd later learn that there was cut content for a halfling companion who was a werewolf, but I can see why that one was cut, with Chetney and all, but yeah not any halflings, Barcus could've been a companion even without the Artificer class, or a Dragonborn.
So how did your story go? Being the Morally Good Guy I was I went through most of the best options I could, but I also tried to avoid combat earlier on when I was struggling to work with it. I was friendly with the Goblin Camp for starters, since they thought I was with the Absolute and Dec is willing to put shit on his face to avoid conflict, it all went tits up after freeing Halsin and having to kill everyone but it may've had some benefit to how I could walk freely through Moonrise. Ironically it was the same with the Githyanki, friendly up until they wanted me to hand over the prism, though the Creche was a lost cause anyway, they're lucky I didn't ransack the place, could've gotten a lot of xp and loot there. I let Viconia live, so she can dwell on that burn Shadowheart gave her but oftentimes I was not so merciful, do wish I didn't kill that one Sharran with the letter of hating being there though, why'd you fight me girl? Same with the Bhaalist with the parents at Elfsong, and the goblin children, I was using nonlethal but arrows don't count as I'd soon learn. Allies were mostly good-to-neutral creatures like the Tieflings (though I wish I saved more, nobody told me about the harpies and I thought convincing Rolan to stay would mean the Grove not the Shadow Cursed Lands - also why send refugees who struggle with goblins through the SHADOW CURSED LANDS?) and 90% of the Ironhand Gnomes because fuck Wulbren - I didn't like Barcus too much at first, thought him rude, but when Wulbren didn't even show gratitude for his attempts I softened to him. Kindness made me quite the enemy to others however; the infernal naturally did not appreciate my deeds of pact breaking but saving the Duke anyway and pilfering the House of Hope, but to be fair Raphael (and his clear portrait of himself I clocked onto immediately when he was in his human guise to know he was untrustworthy) never repaid me in-game for 'killing' Yurgir, and Mizora would've squirmed a lot more in her Ilithid pod had it been a table interaction - though, the latter two were more than willing to help me with the Absolute, 'cept Raphael because he's dead - but in my defence I loved outwitting and being a sassy little shit to demons. Slaying the Chosen was a given, as a very Pro-Karlach guy I was never letting Gortash live, got the Father/Grandfather-Daughter set with Bhaal too. Killing the former Balduran was disappointing; as much as he was on my side he always felt like he had his own ulterior motives, he also had a superiority complex to him with his constant urging of being half-Ilithid; thinks it's not important that he's Balduran either, dismissing Ansur's legend until confronted by Ansur's spirit. Stealing the Orphic Hammer was an insurance policy at first, I could understand Voss' disdain for us using Githyanki Jesus in a box like a forcefield, but it's a shame that the guy who was all about trust decided not to trust me in releasing Orpheus; we could've stopped the brain together! Omeluum would've heard me out. I mean Orpheus was a bit salty but he at least was willing to negotiate and not immediately side back with the brain like a petty bitch. I'd say the gods have mixed feelings with me; friendly with Selune and Lathander at least, and whatever Withers is - though the guy roasted me about my love life. The rest either neutral or anti; Shar and Vlaakith (if you can call her a god) definitely hate me, because they're sore losers, think Myrkul and Bhaal likely hate me, Bane however seemed to respect game not sure how I feel about that. I don't quite like Mystra, think she's a bit extreme with her treatment of Gale, but I understand her role, valid god but shitty person. On the other hand I probably have Cyric's favour for helping the Strange Ox, which might be bad...but Milil was happy to be recognized.
In the end, most of the allies got to live somewhat happily; Gale got the orb out of him and became a professor, Lae'zel - having dealt the final blow to the brain - leads the charge against Vlaakith after Orpheus became a Mind Flayer and was mercy killed, Shadowheart has her family (Shar would've always been with her regardless of her choice), a bunch of pets and can maybe reminisce with Nocturne again one day, Jaheira and Minsc - once he survives Zhentharim execution, didn't realise I needed to have him talk to Nine Fingers - also can rest with her wards and probably share drinks with Nine Fingers until the next fight, Astarion sadly has no cure for vampirism but he is owning it and killing the right people (I like to think he'll get to see the sun again, maybe Omeluum and the Mycolids help), plus Halsin has a bunch of kids in Moonrise to look after, plus Thaniel, Oliver and a new Owlbear who I'd rather had left with Dammon given the option. Isobel and Aylin can settle down, Rolan runs the Sundries, Hope is free, Alfira and Lakrissa got their bard's school, Florrick and Ravengard resume leadership to rebuild, Dammon has his forge, Scratch found a new home in this Mindy (but I remain best master), Mol I'm sure will be running the Guildhall in a few years, Thrumbo has a shelter for his brothers, Mayrina will raise her son without the threat of a hag, Vanra won't become a hag (but does need therapy), and Arabella will probably be the next Withers after reading some more rocks. Yenna didn't seem to have an ending so I'll assume that she found a loving home too, maybe with Halsin or as one of Jaheira's wards, or maybe Gale wants a Sous Chef since she did bring her own carving knife if you didn't know. I wish Alfira got invited to the epilogue, god of song is fine but not the familiar face and it would've been cool for them to meet, nice to get a letter at least, and we'll have to visit Art's grave sometime. Surprised we got no word about Mizora, I didn't get a letter from Geraldus even though he survived, Naaber apparently had more in him after wanting to be a dog, sad not to get anything from Rolan, Devella (I know Valeria mentioned her but c'mon), the Gondians, Mol, Omeluum, or Aylin and Isobel from the epilogue, did we really need the ramblings of Ettvard? Plus the papers must've glitched they said Stelmane's killer was still at large? Post-credits scene felt a bit weak mind you, but guessing Withers is that old God of Death Jerghal? Least he's not a surprise villain to fight. As for me, well, I was never one to give up on people and neither is Dec, and thus Dec and Karlach brave Avernus to seek a fix for her infernal engine, punch a few demons and whatnot, Wyll is there too as the Blade of Avernus, a role he embraced twice after barely contributing to killing Ansur but that's more proximity. We'll chill in the House of Hope especially after her letter, but soon enough we'll all return to Faerun on a more permanent basis.
So you enjoyed it? Yes, very much. I did of course make a lot of mistakes though; kept forgetting about Dread Ambusher for one, my earlier failures at romance still stung, I think the game wasn't as welcoming to those unfamiliar to it. The dice did not like me many times, I once got a Nat 1 in a 2 DC with +2 bonus, I also have had several instances of back-to-back Nat 1s, even had 6 in two different streams. Combat was an adjustment period, I missed a lot of the time which was frustrating, or the enemy would make saving throws on my gambits, Karlach even got pushed into the abyss at the Temple of Bhaal, I was livid. I think I probably would've experienced more if the game established better that you can long rest as much as you like without turning into a Mind Flayer, because much of Act 1 was me reluctant to Long Rest because they say you can change 'within 2-3 days', as a result that affected some romance options too, nobody to spend the night with if there's no night, as well as other in-camp interactions - Astarion never tried to bite me for instance, and I'm sure Raphael would've arrived to reward me for killing Yurgir had we not dealt with a backlog of interactions. I remained quite the hesitant player too, I ignored Gale stuck in a portal for a while fearing some magical backlash was gonna vaporize me, oftentimes I expected worse than what actually happened. Graphically there were a few characters whose cheeks were being pulled to the far left side of the map which was weird, and some battles would have enemies who would just do nothing for their turns, and some areas didn't render quick enough to not be noticed, but it was small stuff in comparison, I didn't do much for camp clothes or dyes until late on but probably for the better since style should be for the final act. I also keep seeing stuff that I somehow missed in my playthrough; like there's an angry squirrel near the grove? A frog in Ethel's house? A bird who wanted help with the giant eagles? What? Where?
What was the most difficult part? Act 3 had a lot of tough shit going down, though one of my most memorable struggles was against Auntie Ethel in Act 1. Already deep in her domain at lv4 it was a rough run to start with, continually hit by Hold Person by her projections, only when I learned they were one-hits did it become a little easier, but without Extra Attack it was still difficult. After that combat was here and there, sometimes it was just the environment like being jammed in a pipe when fighting Minsc; Lorroakan was annoying, Grym I had to be tactical with the hammer, the Assassin at the Facemaker was quite difficult too because he'd Haste himself and hide. The Death Shepherds in the Mountain Pass were surprisingly difficult without the Blood of Lathander, much easier with its Sunbeam. The companion quest final battles of Cazador, Ansur and Viconia were each difficult in their own way; the former was most annoying because my party would be downed but the thrown healing potions weren't working (plus those downed members were the ones with Radiant damage and holy water), wasn't even Bone Chilled like with Viconia, Ansur was difficult because of his burst attack. Raphael hits fucking hard, but once I realised that Hope kept dying because she was getting backlash from dealing Radiant Damage it was just attrition and lots of potion throwing. Combat-wise I think the toughest battle was Cazador due to the glitch of thrown potions not healing, otherwise the toughest boss was Ansur. Overall the most difficult experience I found was the timed operations of the Iron Throne.
Will you play again? Most likely, which is something I don't tend to say so Larian did do their job well. Though I might wait a bit to play other games first and give Larian time to add more content and finer polishing, I think I'd have a better time with it the second time around, would definitely try to resolve previous wrongs or missed opportunities, though I doubt I'd look forward to everything there; killing the Goblin Camp was still difficult work, same with the Steel Watch and all the turn limit stuff, I'll at least wait until I have Extra Attack before dealing with Ethel in Act 1 and take more Long Rests, maybe rotate the party a bit more and try out some other classes - but you will pry Speak with Animals out of my cold dead hands! Learning later about there being a bunch of cut content would entice me to play a third time if they reach a stage where all the intended content has been added in, but there's not exactly a time frame for that or a clear show of intent so far, so we'll see in that one, for all that is cut it seems like the end product is the tip of the iceberg. Enjoyed the play, played for a long time, would play again: money well spent.

okay, I'm a little bit scared to post this, but I think I finally have the right words to write a concise and clear post about my thoughts on asexuality (although the topic is still complicated).
upd: well, at least it was planned as concise...
let's start with what a huge number of people stumble over. if we put the term 'sex-repulsed' into google, the first article on the link will tell us that:
"'sex-repulsed' typically refers to people on the asexual spectrum who experience some form of sex repulsion. Some ace-spec or a-spec individuals may be repulsed by the idea of sexual activity or any sexual situation.
The term indicates that a-spec person experiences sex repulsion meaning they find sexual activity disgusting or repulsive. Some people are repulsed by the thought of engaging in sex altogether, while others may be disgusted by some sexual activity but not all.."
though it is not entirely wrong, articles like these that make a direct correlation between aversion to sex and asexuality do a lot of damage to the perception of asexuality. cause what if I told you that asexuality is not an umbrella term for "people who don't have sex/who hate sex"?
asexuality is about the absence of sexual attraction. it's not even about a lack of libido - there are a huge number of asexual people with a high libido. i.e., we can't even say it's about "people who don't want sex." no, because
it's as simple as that - it's about people who do not feel sexual attraction.
It took me a long time to explain how exactly this works even to myself and now, it seems, I finally got it (the final straw was actually Good Omens, with its incredible representation of asexual characters (yes, I'm talking about Azi and Crowley, and no, I'm not in any way dissing other headcanons for labeling them differently, and even more so - I don't see why these headcanons have to clash)).
so I came up with pretty simple example - comparison to food/hunger. it may be a dangerous one because sex, unlike food, is not a "basic human need", [despite the claims of some men who justify sexual violence by referring to their "basic need for sex/reproduction🤡"].
but anyway, this is how this food analogy works:
imagine you're a creature that doesn't need to eat at all. therefore you never feel hungry - you simply do not have such a function as being hungry. you were made that way. you can try food if you're interested or you can not. let's say you tried it, but it was.. well, it was okay, but not that you would do that every day. and suddenly you tried pancakes with raspberry jam, and you really liked them, and now you eat pancakes because you like the taste. and you think, "well, if I liked the pancakes so much, then maybe I'll search and find another one"...
and so your journey continues, and sometimes you find some new "dishes" that you like... or maybe you don't find them and move on. that, my friends, what asexuality is like!
I have asexual friends who love bdsm and are into the kink culture, because for them it is like a delicacy or some exotic dish. there are friends who simply don't care and don't want to try anything. I have friends who are curious and plan on trying to find their "raspberry jam pancakes". there are those who long ago found their comfortable "dish" and eat only that one. there are those who like the way one particular person cooks, and like the smell when you sit and watch that person cook, and like the very fact that that person cooks for you.
and people who are disgusted by sex, or even the very idea of it (sex-repulsed people) are most often people who have a certain trauma that has nothing to do with asexuality. and the combination of these two terms standing beside each other creates a terrible stigma around asexuality.
I am infinitely grateful to everyone who read this, because this is a very important topic for me personally🖤🤍💜

RWBY Marrow’s Allusion
Tumblr media
Each of the Ace Operatives are base on an Aesop fable. Clover is based on the Lucky Fisherman. Harriet is from the Tortoise and the Hare, and Elm and Vine are from the same named story. This leaves Marrow, who's allusion is still unknown by a lot of people. Today I will explain his inspiration and how certain elements of his character affect the narrative of RWBY. Marrow is based on the Aesop fable, The Dog & It’s Reflection.
Tumblr media
The story goes like this: a dog is taking a bone home when he sees another bone on the ground. Delighted to have found two bones, he goes to pick it up. The "bone", however, is actually just a puddle of water reflecting the bone already in his mouth, and he accidentally drops his bone in the puddle. The lesson of the story is that greed can lead one to make foolish mistakes.
Tumblr media
Marrow's name comes from the substance found in bones, which is what the dog wanted. His weapon is a boomerang named "Fetch", named after the game played with humans and dogs. In the game, a ball is thrown, and the dog is expected to get it and return it to the owner. The journey of the ball is similar to a boomerang, being thrown and returned to the thrower (Marrow).
Tumblr media
Marrow's semblance is the ability to freeze a body in a stationary condition. The method of this move is obviously the same as a dog command, telling his opponent to "stay". The drawback, however, is that he also has to be stationary in motion to perform. This is a nod to his allusion, for he has to be still like his opponent, similar to a reflection.
Tumblr media
Marrow fights Weiss during the battle between Team RWBY and the Ace Ops. Weiss is based on Snow White, and has a mirror theme with her character. Mirrors show you your reflection, so in turn, Weiss fights Marrow. During the fight, Marrow tries to freeze both Weiss and her Knight. This is a nod to the dog trying to obtain both bones instead of being content with his one bone. As a result, Weiss is the victor of the fight.
Tumblr media
Now here's the fun part. Marrow acts as a “mirror” for several characters. He tries to get them to reflect on their actions and asking if they’re really happy with their decisions. He makes Winter think about her alignment, disses Ironwood to his face, tries to get Harriet to tone down, etc. In contrast, he is often aligned with Weiss and Jaune, who have both improved their self-reflections.
Tumblr media
Marrow holds a second allusion as well. After being kicked off the team by Ironwood, he is picked up by Winter and assists her during her rebellion against the General. One of Winter's allusions is Jadis the White Witch from Narnia (who was responsible for the 100 Year Long Winter). Her rule came with her own army, with one of her Lieutenants being Maugrim, a wolf.

If you're wondering how my mom felt about the prologue, she felt concerned that Yuu woke up somewhere random, and Grim was a piece of shit. She thought that the boys were interesting and Crowley was annoying. She wanted to punch Ace when we first met until the end.
As for Chapter 1, She thought Cater was interesting, Crewel is attractive, Train reminds her of her old history teacher, Vargas reminded her of her former coach in highschool, Ace and Deuce we're little shits for asking Yuu to buy them food in return of catching Grim, Trey is motherly, Riddle was way too strict, Deuce's delinquent mode surprised her but his backstory made her sad, Chenya was funny, and she also got mad at Trey for not doing anything to stop Riddle.
"I understand that Riddle suffered and Trey also went through a lot, but that doesn't mean that he should let Riddle get away with everything just because of Riddle's horrible home life. Riddle is his own person, not his mother. He shouldn't be coddled by anyone just because he had a bad life."
She was upset that ADeuce lost.
Hoo boy did she want to punch Riddle for dissing Yuu and she cheered Ace on when he called Riddle out.
Riddle's backstory made her cry.
She thought that Ace getting mad at Riddle though not nice, was understandable in a way.
Overall, she just thought it was a great beginning to a crazy story.
[Here’s the other installments for the Mom Anon: Ep 2/ Ep 3 / Ep 4 / Ep 5]

I think that pretty much sums up the common first impressions many players have when they’re experiencing TWST for the first time! (I’m not going to comment on every single thing because it might be repetitive 💦)
The prologue and episode 1 do a lot of the set up that the later parts of the main story build upon, so it’s important to have that strong (even if it’s kind of basic/expected) start! Riddle is also just a nice example of the pattern we will observe with Overblot boys (ie current behavior being questionable, only for a backstory reveal which helps explain their present behavior). It’s the attitude of Ace and the others towards Riddle that sort of defines the rest of TWST, a mix of empathy + offering social support and yet holding people accountable while also allowing for enough room and time to grow.

people I'd like to know better
Last song: Dynasty by Rina Sawayama (I was just binge-listening to her albums late at night and it slaps.)
Favorite colors: I'm boring. It's blue lmao.
Currently watching: The Percy Jackson show for now. I think that's pretty much it. (Can't diss the color blue after this)
Last movie: It was during Christmas time and I was watching The Holdovers. Letterboxd gave me a recommendation. It is such a good film, you guys. It's one of the handfuls of contemporary films I enjoyed. With the soundtrack and the vibes, it's everything.
Currently reading: How Do You Live? by Genzaburo Yoshino. It's a Japanese classic - a coming of age story that tackles a lot of life's themes. Also trying to sluggishly finish American Gods by Neil Gaiman. It's a tough book to finish, I'll admit.
Sweet/spicy/savory: Going with savory at the moment. Could use a lot of comfort food lol.
Last thing I Googled: “Slipperiest alcohol”. Trust me, it's for a wip. (C'mon, it's not like I have a handy index of the most slipperiest alcohols!)
Current obsessions: My obsessions literally change every other week. I'd say I'm enjoying some trivia games online and doing more digital art.
Currently working on: Fixing everything lol. Or at least repairing things momentarily. I'm sorry the answer isn't too specific, and that's exactly why. I repaired my eating habits the same way I repaired the chains in my bicycle. Grease. Lots of grease.
Thank you so much @peonierose and @ovethinker1thebackup for tagging me, here's some people I'd like to tag - no pressure obvs:
@mydemonsdrivealimo @peonyblossom @stars-are-within-me @gutsfics @lilyoffandoms @moominofthevalley @aces-and-angels and anyone else who wants to do this!

The Day of Valentines was almost at it's end, but it still wasn't over. And that proved true for a certain member of the Kito-gumi named Lucille "Lucky Lucy" Takara. Even though it was a holiday, that didn't make her exempt from work, unfortunately. After all, no matter the time or day of the week, there was still money to be made. But that didn't mean she couldn't partake in this festive holiday herself, right? After all, at the end of the day, she was still a person.
...At least, that's how a certain risk-taker saw it as he jumped to and fro throughout the buildings in Shizuoka before finally arriving at the residence of the woman in question. Smiling, he dropped a small gift package on her doorstep, quickly rung the doorbell to her home and disappeared as quickly as he came, though he was watching from her a close distance to see her reaction.
Upon opening the front door, the blonde-hair Japanese woman looked around before noticing the package in front of her. Blinking, she unwrapped the package and looked at what was inside.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It was a charm bracelet with a casino-theme to it, as well as a gold necklace that read 'Aces & Eights' on it. Blinking, the gambler didn't hesitate putting neither piece of jewelry on her person, liking how they felt. Viewing in the box, the woman saw a note at the bottom, which read:
'Roses are red
Violets are blue
You're my favorite gambler
And I'm always betting on you
Happy Valentine's Day.'
“My my, what a lovely set of jewelry, my dear.” Hikaru smiled, taking out his fan and fanning himself. “That Zakari give them to you? He has been treating you right, Lucy? I can go have a “talk” with him if he's not.”
"Hikaru, while I appreciate the fact you'd kill any man for disrepecting for me. Please don't threaten my boyfriend.” Lucy begged the former prostitute.
“I'm just making sure that you don't get your heart broken, my dear. Love is a fickle thing, much like luck is. Romantic love, especially. Plus, with you and now the Boss in relationships, I imagine things will get pretty interesting soon.”
“No but I seriously don't know if I should pity the dude that has the Boss’s affection.”
“Actually I think we should pity the Boss more. She's out of her comfort zone here. Remember, she never had an example of a loving relationship before. Plus, she's taking advice from Reika-san from all people for her love life. I’m sure you know why that's possibly a bad idea. By comparison, yours and Zakari's relationship seems like it would be a walk in the park, and you've tried killing him before.”
“I can't tell if that was a diss against me or the Boss Hikaru.”
“Who's to say my dear Lucille.”

Hey, trans Ace headcanons anon here.
I have a few more that I forgot to include that I wanted to share:
• Upon transitioning, Ace just took all of his old girly clothes and toys and instead of throwing them away he just kept them all stuffed in boxes in the attic. He gave them all to Otama when he met her, because he knew she didn't have many belongings.
• When it came to naming himself, Ace just asked Garp what name his mom woukd have given him if he had been born a boy. And thats how Portgas D. Ace was born.
• The only person who learned about Ace being trans a lot after than the others was Uta. She knew him during her childhood because Luffy was her friend, but they weren't partuculary close since their personalities clashed and they would fight at times, and before Ace could have said anything to her she had already been taken away by Shanks.
• He sometimes wonders how his mother would have reacted his she had still been alive. He is reminded how great of a person she was and how supportive she would have been everytime.
• If Sabo THINKS you are transphobic, then you are gonna be 6 feet under in less time than it takes Luffy to finish his meals. (The same goes for Doflamingo cause I headcanon Rosi as transmasc too. He may be a psicopath but he's not transphobic)
Also I wanted to add a few trans Robin and trans Franky headcanons because I also have a Frobin heart and to me they are the ultimate T4T and Bi4Bi:
• Robin came out in her mid teens. Her mother and professor Clover were very supportive but since they got killed by the goverment they died of old age when she was 19, she had no one to turn to for support.
• People already disliked her because of the rumors that her family was anti goverment and stuff, so her also being trans motivated other people into being against her.
• She met Crocodile and Bon Clay at a pride event. I think Baroque Works is just an undercover mafia like organization Crocodile used to run, and Robin had no other place to go to.
• This was until she met Franky, and he had way more confidence than her because he was lucky enough to have such a great family.
• He was still girl presenting when his bio parents abbandoned him. He came out after Tom had adopted him. And we all know he was the best trans ally in this world.
• Franky quite literally gave himself top surgery with Iceburg being the only person who was supervising him (but he wasn't allowed to do anything) and luckyli Franky only lost 1 nipple! He also mixes his T shots in his cola.
• "Your existence is not a sin" takes a whole new meaning.
• Spandam is a transphobe so he gets his face mauled, his spine broken, they fire him from his position and Brook writes a diss track about him.
Ace giving his old clothes to Tama and naming himself after what his mom would've liked is just so so sweet. And yeah, I agree on Sabo murdering transphobes. If there's ANY possibility of somebody not accepting his brother he's gonna go insane. Good for him. And the whole Frobin T4T thing is SO real to me. Robin being called a monster for her identity but actually finding a place to belong in Baroque Works because they might be a mafia but they're all trans-- And then she meets Franky and he's so so sweet and accepting and so proud of his own identity too that she can't help but feel extremely free around him <3
