Best blorbo
he deserves ALL of the head pats and attention, my personal take for fakey is that he used to be kinda iffy on any physical attention, but after some time it's become one of his favorite things ❤

OKAY here is the completely nonserious percy jackson npmd au thats been taking up space in my brain for weeks now because it simply needs somewhere to go:
New campers-
Stephanie Lauter:
I'm not overcomplicating this one: Steph is a daughter of Aphrodite
Solomon Lauter saw the hottest woman at some party where he was campaigning, and he’s is nothing if not ‘passionate’ and successful (by design) so it worked out
As far as Steph knows until her teens her mom ran off on her dad when she was a baby, and that’s fine, she doesn't give a shit, she’s never looked into it
Until, when she’s sixteen (because somehow she’s made it this long) Grace Chasity starts a rumor, her dad sends her to Abstinence Camp and the monster in the woods chases her right into camp halfblood
She gets claimed pretty promptly and Is Not A Fan
She’s thinks it’s pretty sexist and conceited and stupid and problematic for a whileeeee and refuses to look into it any more than ‘pink and pretty and misogynistic’ which like, doesn’t go well for her but she’s nothing if not stubborn
She’s fluent in French because of her mom but she doesn’t know that until she gets to camp and is genuinely so pissed off that the one school subject she thought she was good at isn’t even on her own merit
She’s got some vague appearance manipulation stuff, and once she realizes she does she exclusively uses it to change her hair color and make her eyeliner look good
She’s probably like camp way more if she knew about it earlier but the combo of her had having kept it from her and who her mom is and all the stupid games/worship expectations piss her off and she bails on most of the events/training/campfires out of spite
She definitely uses some close up weapon like a dagger or short sword
Grace Chastity:
Grace is a daughter of Ares
(Her finding this out goes very poorly)
Im ngl i feel like somehow Ares ended up with Mark Chastity, I refuse to examine this thought but i think Mark Chastity had his first gay experience and woke up the next morning with a baby there somehow because Ares thought it would be hilarious and wanted to see what would happen
She gets chased to camp with Steph from Abstinence Camp and is fucking livid, the whole thing is insanely scareligious and ridiculous and everyone there is going to hell and she is so heated that Ares, once again thinking it’s really funny and slightly proud, claims her on the spot
Grace Chastity is out here with her sacreligious two gay dads
She really resents specifically who her dad is because in her head she is made for peace and love and spreading the word of god, she hates the idea of war or violence on principal, so she spends a lot of time at the strawberry fields or Pegusus stables because she does really like the flying horses :)
She refuses to take place in any camp activities or training and all her siblings hate her
At a certain point she’s able to harness a level of odikinesis (enhancing feelings of hatred and war) and it doesn’t go well
Chiron honestly is forcing her to stick around because he’s REALLY so very nervous about how the fuck it would go to have Grace loose on the mortal world right after she finds everything else
Her weapon is an axe
Obviously
AND THEN we’ve got the established campers-
Peter Spankoffski:
Okay so forgive me for my special little blorbo-fication of my guy but:
Pete’s a son of Nyx
He super fucking shouldn’t be, there aren’t demi-god children of Nyx, just monsters and minor gods, but him and Ted were kind of just… thought experiments? Like she was bored and very curious so she took a really shitty human and had a child with him (Ted) and then, in what Nyx’s head was barely any time at all but in human years was straight up 18 years, has another one (Pete)
Ted raises Pete for a couple years, but children of Nyx in general are just bad omens, and human children of Nyx who probably shouldn’t exist are no exception, so they get hunted down by monsters hard
Ted dies or disappears by the time Pete’s ten or eleven and he ends up at a camp
He’s a year round camper and lives in the hermes cabin because obviously Nyx doesn’t have a cabin (look okay i know that percy fixed that, but that bit of lore where any unclaimed or minor god children live at the hermes cabin is so fucked up and rife with angst and hurt/comfort potential is too much for me to resist so this is a universe where percy jackson does not exist)
His luck is horrible, like it’s a magical demigod ability how horrible his luck is and he’s well on his way to systematically having broken every single one of his bones one by one, they know him so well in the apollo cabin
NO ONE (and I mean NO ONE) likes him and he’s considered a camp wide jinx so he takes one for the team and personally exempts himself from any team events like capture the flag because no one is willing to have him on their side
A lot of newer campers generally assume he’s an Athena kid because he really enjoys learning/strategy/by-the-book stuff because it’s a lot easier than trying to get involved with the more dangerous athletic shit
Because his mom is the goddess of night he’s very into outer space
His weapon is a bow and arrow, but he’s pretty good with most range weapons/anything that he can calculate aim for
Ruth Fleming:
Ruth is a daughter of Demeter and she’s pissed about it
Her dad told her about being a demigod a couple years before she went to camp but he didn’t know who her mom was so she got very very into greek mythos and shit and was convinced she was a daughter of Athena or Aphrodite or someone else nine-year-old-girl-cool and was fucking devestated when it was the goddess of farming
Like, she’ll do all the things she’s expected to (helping in the strawberry fields, weeding, etc..) but she’s going to complain about it
She doesn’t even have any cool powers to go with it!!! it’s so unfair >:(
She’s also involved with the camp’s theater department and is convinced it’s rigged against her because of who her mom is in favor of Apollo and Dionysus kids (in fairness…. it probably is) which is why she’s always stuck on tech
She’s definitely got a crush of Richie’s dad
She’s a summer only camper for sure, monsters don’t hunt her down for any reason in particular or en mass so she can get away with it and fight off the ones that do, but she does kind of take offense to the fact that even monsters don't want her (even if they’d just kill her)
Her childhood greek mythology obsession carries over so she knows every dumb little detail about every myth and will bring it up unprompted
Her main weapon is just a celestial bronze sword but i feel like when she first got to camp at 12 she bribed a child of Iris to change the color of it so it looks like… rose gold lmao
Richie Lipschitz:
Richie is a son of Dionysus
And sure, okay, I know what you're thinking: that doesn’t really fit…?
But to that I say oh boy it does, just not for Richie
For his twin brother Trevor however–
Richie is kind of like the black sheep of his cabin, not that there is many of them, because his brother is perfectly cookie cutter what a Dionysis kid should be (he’s a theater kid, he throws good parties, he’s generally popular) and Richie is not
They both started camp at probably 10-ish, a little earlier than traditional because there were two of them which drew more monsters
His eyes are violet though which he thinks is very cool so he dyes his hair purple to match them
He sorta-kinda has chlorokinesis, specifically for grape and strawberry vines, which a. he also thinks is very cool, and b. he uses as an excuse to get out of training so he can hang out with Ruth
He's also really good at swimming and trying to work up the courage to ask his dad if he'd possibly be able to grant him the ability to turn into a dolphin but just like... only when he wanted tot and he could turn back
He really wishes his was an Apollo kid (though, obviously he’d never say that out loud) because of the artistic stuff, so he sort of just tries to gaslight everyone that because his dad is the god of the Arts that includes physical art like drawing so obviously that’s why he’s good at it
He’s a summer-only camper too but for the dumbest reason; their parents gave the twins a choice, but Trevor wanted to be able to go back to school to do school plays and Richie can’t watch anime at camp so they chose summer only
His weapon is just a normal sword but he’s campaigning to get a child of Hephaestus to make him a Katana
(They’re all three kind of outcasts in terms of their own godly parents, because Ruth and Richie don’t really fit the mold of ‘normal child of [blank]’ and Pete’s kind of just generally disliked because of his parentage, so they all sort of came together as friends out of necessity but now they’re just actually buddies and they hang out)
anyway who knows if ill do anything with this but its FUN and id love to talk about it forever they're just little demigod losers I love them

I've had all the different Love for Love's Sake interpretations rotating in my brain and kind of picking and choosing what I want to take from each of them, which is a very cool thing we can do with this show because it supports many different reads. I think for me I have landed on a few core ideas that I am stewing on the most:
Is Myungha in control of the game?
One thing I'm feeling pretty solid about is that my preferred interpretation is one where Myungha's consciousness is in control of the game. @jemmo and @biochemjess and @wen-kexing-apologist all offered up some thoughts about this that resonated with me and give me a framework that helps me make sense of the game glitches and server errors as manifestations of Myungha's emotional overwhelm and inability to accept love, rather than a creator forcing cruel choices and punishments on him. I like that idea a lot.
The initial assumption the show invites us to make is that the game world was created by the author based on his own novel, but I don't think that idea holds up as the show goes along. Because if this world we're in was truly based on the novel, I would expect we'd have seen some of it. Instead, we get a world that is populated by Myungha's own significant people--those he loved, those he lost, those he regretted--and no real hints about the novel world we're supposedly in. We never met the novel leads, for instance, or learned that Myungha had pre-existing knowledge of any other characters besides Yeowoon. So that tracks better with Myungha simply pulling his blorbo, the character he identified with most, into this afterlife world he created for himself.
Are Yeowoon and the romance "real" within this world of the show?
Which leads me to the next thing I'm stewing on. Is Yeowoon "real" in any meaningful sense within this universe? Is their relationship? Because functionally, Yeowoon is a mirror of Myungha and a stand in for his own self within the game world. Making Yeowoon happy becomes making Myungha happy. Loving Yeowoon is a form of self love for Myungha. One could argue that because the afterlife feels real to Myungha, it becomes real, and therefore everything that happens counts. But @troubled-mind mentioned in her post that she can't really latch onto the love story in this show because the reality is that Myungha has died and this afterlife is "wishful thinking." As an atheist, that resonates with me, and I think it's perhaps why I was not quite as emotionally moved by the romance ending as some of y'all seem to have been. Don't get me wrong, I thought it was beautiful. But I did not experience this as a happy ending to a love story in the way that some did. More than anything, I think I take it as a final bit of closure, that Myungha was able leave in peace having found some measure of love for himself in his final moments. I don't know that I am sold on the idea this means he is living a whole second life with Yeowoon.
So then, who is the author?
I have also been thinking a lot about who exactly this author is and how he's involved in this game world. @bengiyo suggested that he was someone who loved Myungha in life and created this world out of his own grief, and @twig-tea had suggested to me even before the show ended that the author was trying to help Myungha through the game. I see a logic to these reads, but I can't say either particularly resonated for me, in part because of what I mentioned above re: the cruelty of the game world if the errors are not self-inflicted by Myungha. @crapyouknowme suggested that the author is in fact a manifestation of the star Myungha wished upon, a loving presence that came to him because he yearned for it. I kind of like that idea personally, that this is another form of self-love Myungha willed into existence for himself. @dropthedemiurge wrote that in the end it seems all the text messages of love and yearning were from the author, and I do tend to agree. So under this interpretation, the author appears to Myungha and sends messages of love and guides him back into this game world with Yeowoon because Myungha wills these things for himself. I like that idea that Myungha is ultimately still the one in control of how he chooses to leave the world.
I think ultimately for me, I am arriving at seeing this story as less of a romance and more of a journey to self love and closure at the end of life. I do think there is a hopeful tone to the ending despite how dark the realities of Myungha's story are, and for me that hope is primarily based in his ability to love himself on his way out of this life.

This week’s writer spotlight feature is: Pricklywhicket/@messessentialist ! Prickleywhicket has four fics published to AO3 -- All in the Steddie tag!
Our anonymous nominator recommends the following works by pricklywhicket:
so let's sneak in from the cheap seats, honey
it's supposed to be fun (turning twenty-one)
start by pulling him out of the fire
"Sadie is so super talented in the way she describes literally everything. She is so good at writing and it's a shame that she's flown under the radar because she's not the quickest at putting things out there." -- Anonymous
Below the cut, Pricklywhicket answered some questions about their writing process and some of their recommended work!
Why do you write Steddie?
Why do any of us write anything? Because we want the story to exist in the world, and it doesn’t yet, so we gotta hike up our pants and do it ourselves!
What’s your favorite trope to READ?
Hurt/Comfort. I’m always a sucker for the blorbos taking care of one another, in whatever form that takes. This has always been true, across a truly astronomical number of fandoms I’ve found myself dabbling in over the years.
What’s your favorite trope to WRITE?
…actually, probably hurt/comfort! I just need to get those little dudes some validation and unconditional positive regard, okay?
What’s your favorite Steddie fic?
I’m sure I won’t be the first one to say this, but: I HAVE TO PICK ONE????? Okay, alright. I can do this. I’m gonna say…Sanctuary by SpicedSage.
Is there a trope you’re excited to explore in a future work but haven’t yet?
I’ve only written canon or canon-adjacent fic so far, so I’m eager to work on something that’s completely AU. I think there’s a unique challenge to keeping characters recognizable as themselves in a world that might not have all the same contexts that made them into that person.
What is your writing process like?
I would love to say it’s super organized and well-planned, but the truth is it’s mostly about routine and responsibility. I set aside time to do it every day, even if I can only tap out a few sentences. I’m not very strict about writing in a straight line - I can stop a scene if it’s giving me trouble, write a note about what I think happens in some [brackets], and move on to something that I have more fully fleshed-out ideas for. Sometimes writing the next scene helps you know more about what needs to happen in the current one.
Do you have any writing quirks?
I'm sure my betas would say yes 🙃 I tend to write a lot of dialogue - a lot of my revision process is going back through and realizing I have two pages of a conversation with no indication of what’s physically happening in the world around the speakers.
Do you prefer posting when you’ve finished writing or on a schedule?
Definitely when I’m finished. Prior to my ‘23 bang fic, I had never written anything chaptered. I knew going in that I could NOT start posting if it wasn’t finished, because I’ve been burned too many times by abandoned works. I didn’t want to do that to people reading my fic, and the best way to avoid it is to finish before you post.
Which fic are you most proud of?
Easily start by pulling him out of the fire. The biggest, most ambitious thing I’ve ever attempted - I still kind of can’t believe I wrote 85k.
How did you get the idea for start by pulling him out of the fire?
Like most terrible ideas, it was spawned in a fandom discord chat. We were discussing the tendency of Steddie fics to centralize the party at Steve’s house, because his parents are never there anyway. And then someone mentioned what if the parents came home and found their house occupied, and someone else mentioned Wayne being there, and it just sort of…spiraled out from there.
When writing start by pulling him out of the fire, what was something you didn’t expect?
I had no idea, going in, that I was going to write a comprehensive history of the Wayne and Eddie Munson relationship. I started writing it where I did to give some background on Wayne’s existing distaste for the elder Harrington, and then I just…kept writing. Over the course of a month or two I wrote 20k of WayneAndEddie that I had no idea was in me - it just kept coming.
What inspired it's supposed to be fun (turning twenty-one)?
@wynnyfryd. It was a gift for her birthday. We were talking about our mutual love of Letterkenny, and she mentioned that the episode was her favorite and wouldn’t it be funny if someone wrote… and the rest is history.
What was your favorite part to write from it's supposed to be fun (turning twenty-one)?
I had an unreasonable amount of fun with that one in general. But I think my favorite part was Eddie polling the party about what Steve means to them all. It was fun to sort of put myself in each character’s shoes and think about how they would answer. Plus y’know, any excuse to unironically love on Steve Harrington.
How do/did you feel writing so let's sneak in from the cheap seats, honey?
I believe my exact words upon deciding to write it were “jingles miserably to a blank google doc.” This was a classic case of saying “god I wish there was a fic where—” and having friends tell me that it was now my responsibility to write it. I’m glad I did, though. I love that story, and it proved to me that I could write sex and publish it and not burst into flames. I also just really, really love summer storms. And Wayne’s use of the singular ‘herpe.’
What was the most difficult part of writing so let's sneak in from the cheap seats honey?
Getting over the fear of publishing something E-rated. It was just something I hadn’t done, and I had a lot of anxiety that people were not going to respond well to it. I made three people individually review the sex scenes before I even asked anyone to beta the full fic. Of course I was worried for nothing, the reception for that fic was super lovely and gave me the confidence boost I needed to attempt start by pulling him out of the fire!
Do you have a favorite scene and/or line from any of your fics?
This is like asking me to pick a favorite child. I’ll say this: most of my favorite lines in start by pulling him out of the fire were taken directly from conversations @wormdebut and I had about the fic. She’s my number one cheerleader and sounding board, and sometimes she’s so goddamn funny that I just have to include it. You have her to thank, for instance, for Steve quite literally dropping his croissant when he first sees Eddie in glasses.
Do you have any upcoming projects or fics you’d like to share/promote?
I have a couple of irons in the fire, but nothing I’m ready to share just yet! I’ve been taking a breather from writing (blame baldur’s gate 3, okay) but my WIPs are still very much IP. Stay tuned!
Outside of these questions, Is there anything YOU would like to add?
Not that I can think of!
Thank you to our author, Pricklywhicket, and our anonymous nominator! See more of pricklywhicket's works featured on our page throughout the day!

i just have to say it..
catra is not as deep as the writers and fans think she is.
i mean, sure, she's definitely an interesting character with a lot of issues people can relate to. but she's also.. pretty straightforward about all these issues.
i feel like fans like to see catra as this silent, brooding person who hides all her pain but that's not who she is. catra has always been very vocal about whatever troubles her. even when she didn't initially like scorpia, she still told scorpia about things that were troubling her. she complained to entrapta about adora leaving her (which was also a way to manipulate entrapta but my point still stands).
even her more tsundere moments where she's all like “ugh whatever it's not because i like you” is so on the nose. it's written in a way that hints to us that catra does like adora, but the rest of the context doesn't really get that point across.
so yeah, i'm not saying that catra is a boring or shallow character, but people definitely give a lot more credit to her character than she deserves. she's really not the kind of person who bottles up her feelings. i mean, she does not deal with her problems in a healthy manner at all but she also definitely doesn't bottle them up.
the characters who do bottle up their emotions are adora, scorpia and entrapta. maybe even hordak. we've already seen how scorpia reminds herself to push back her self-doubt everyday, and how she deflects any kind of emotional situation with jokes.
adora most definitely bottles up her feelings because she doesn't want to burden the people around her and she needs to be the strong hero that they're expecting her to be.
we never hear of hordak's disability and his relationship with horde prime until he unwillingly opens up to entrapta about it, so i think it's safe to assume that he doesn't really talk about his problems to everyone as well.
entrapta's case is a little confusing because i'm not sure if the writers intended her to make her a happy-go-lucky character who hides her pain, or if her character is just inconsistent. we get a few emotional scenes from her but they are never mentioned again and she seems happy enough after her problems are never addressed or given a satisfying conclusion.
but of course, catra is always the one portrayed as this dark, brooding villain who never talks about how much they're hurting. crazy how catra fans themselves mischaracterize their favourite blorbo. if you actually paid attention to catra throughout the series, you know that she's the kind of person to start venting about her personal stuff five minutes into meeting someone.

Round 1 of preliminaries, group 16
Tumblr media
The first two places get a place on the bracket
Little reminder: there will be 2 more rounds of preliminaries, the losing blorbos of this poll still have 2 chances of getting in the official bracket
Propaganda under the cut
Parker (Leverage)
"Some of the weird things she says are so true. Like when she talks about past/present/future parker. Her joy at the things that she loves is so complete. Christmas every year! I too have the urge to stab people with forks when in uncomfortable social situations. And it was great when she made her security code to her…home…Sophie’s real name because it was representative of where trust stood in the team after the prison break. Oh! And her and Alec are total couple goals. (Thruple goals if you add in Elliot)"
Gudetama (Sanrio)
"A lazy egg who really doesn't want to do much of anything and would rather just go back to sleep"
Finn the Human (Adventure Time)
"finn is just a little guy doing his best and trying to help people! he's the only human in the show so he's just like us fr (the entire human race) and he starts off the series as a kid and grows up during it so he really goes through all the relatable ups and downs and friendships and relationships and mistakes and achievements that we all go through. he does a lot of idolising people and having to realise they're not what he told himself they were. sometimes he tries to distract himself from an existential crisis by running around yelling or stabbing things with a sword. relatable"
Rain O'Fire Frazier (Worm)
"Rain grew up in a conservative community that he didn't want to be part of, and rejected their regressive ideology in favor of surrounding himself with people who have gender vibes, mental health issues, and traumas of their own. Also, people give him all sorts of crap in the setting, and while he does fuck up sometimes, he's just a swell dude who's hoping to not get murdered by crazy people. Times being what they are, I think that that's something a lot of people can relate to."
Piper Mclean (Heroes of the Olympus)
"she's SO full of love!!! she loves everyone so strongly!! she has a complicated relationship with femininity, gender and beauty standards. she bullies her friends but would go down fighting for them if needed. she acts out to get her dad's attention. she believes in a balance between emotions and logic, and is not afraid to tell her friends if she thinks they're neglecting the emotional side of a problem."
Norma Khan (Dead End Paranormal Park)
"She is autistic and struggles with socialising (same) She has special interests that she will bring up at any opportunity. She can get overwhelemed and scared being in the world. Norma is also bisexual! She spends her time in a Pauline Phoneix theme park (one of her spins) and fighting demons and ghosts (another special interest). Vote Norma today!!"
"She goes through so many relatable experiences that I rarely see depicted and is just overall an excellent character. The third episode of the show has the most relatable depiction of anxiety I've ever seen (especially the intersection between social anxiety and autistic sensory overload). It's one of those episodes where each character has to face their worst fears, and with how those episodes usually go, I expected her to overcome her fears at the end of the episode and just not have them anymore. Instead, she overloads the villain by having too much fear for him to handle since she has to constantly face her greatest fears as part of her everyday life. The protagonist also acknowledges how much more severe her fear is compared to most other people, which is pretty validating. Her special interest is an actress who turns out to be a really shady person, and she has a lot of trouble processing this because it was so close to her heart. She even gets a musical number about it! I've never seen this particular experience depicted in fiction, but it's one that is sadly pretty relatable to me and probably a lot of other people on here. She also has a plot where she is rejected romantically by a straight friend, which is kinda nice to see (even if it's not nice for poor Norma) since even though this is a really common experience IRL I rarely see it explored in fiction. And she's just really funny and smart and a great character in general!"

Alright, my fellow UY folks!! Since the new trailer has dropped, why don't we unpack everything they've shown us so far?
Or more specifically, what all chapters are getting adapted in the third cour (only third since they won't reveal footage for the fourth one till the third is over.)!!
Also, ignore the stupid quality since I took the pictures on my phone..
Tumblr media Tumblr media
First up is the Kurama - Ran - Rei two-parter!! Nice to see Kurama again since I was worried she would be a one time character since she didn't appear in the eye catches. However, I'm pretty sure this is going to be her last appearance since it's her final appearance in the manga (not counting cameos). It's one of the funnier Kurama chapters, so this will be great fun!!
Tumblr media
Next up is the 'Fantasy bubblegum' chapter!! Another one I didn't think which would be adapted since we see Ten order the key item in this chapter in the post credits of the love-love crystal ball episode. Maybe the order was delayed? Or Ten didn't use it till now? Who knows. Anyways, this is a pretty funny chapter and I'm excited to see how it turns out (Also BenOyu yuri, Let's goo!!!)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
AtaLum fans, Let's rejoice, because it looks like they're adapting "Love knows no barriers" aka the chapter where Lum gets hit with the rice cooker!!! This one is my favorite singular chapter in the series and I absolutely hated the original anime's version of this one so I hope the remake does this one justice!! I'm not sure whether the first one is from this chapter since Ataru's wearing his school uniform instead of his casuals, but maybe it's because of a few changes here and there. DavidPro, you better not disappoint me considering what the original did.
Tumblr media
Looks like we're going to get the chapter which introduces the Ryuunosuke's mom (Masako) saga. I'm not sure whether they'll adapt everything under this saga, but the first one seems to be there. I really like this chapter because we get a wholesome relationship between Ryu and Ataru's mom.
Tumblr media
THE BODYSWAP CHAPTER!!! This one comes a bit earlier from what I remember and not to mention, it's pretty hilarious (literally any chapter where Sakura has to deal with Ataru's BS is an A+ for me) so I'm super excited!!
Tumblr media
ASUKA, MY CHILD!! IT'S HER!! Finally one of my UY Blorbo's gets animated!! And considering the shot of her and Ton- chan, yes guys, they're keeping the incest. I've never understood why there were some who said they wouldn't adapt it but like, it's one of Asuka's main character points and the incest is clearly portrayed as wrong and unacceptable, similar to Ataru's lecherous behavior (They might still tone it down though). Anyways, I'm so excited for Asuka, I can't wait!!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And finally, two very beloved and very important arcs!! First, I can't believe we're getting three AtaLum stories in this cour, I mean we deserve it after being fed with only one last cour. And second, I'm pretty sure both these arcs are going to be at least a whole episode long considering how big these two are. And I have to admit, the door realm looks so pretty.. and I'm so excited for Shingo, Inaba and their arcs, can't January come already???
And that's all for it!! Other than these, there were two to three shots I couldn't exactly place which chapter they belong to, so sorry about that. And I wanted to point out that the animation looks quite fluid in some scenes as well, so it looks like DavidPro is doing great work as expected. Anyways, UY is coming back once again on January 11th and I am so ready!! THE HYPE IS REAL!!!

Febuwhump Day 3 - "Bite Down on This"
For @smilesrobotlover and her wonderful King of the Gerudo blorbos!
Things hadn't exactly gone according to plan.
The monster horde near Fort Hateno had needed to be addressed quickly. Although the soldiers had held it at bay fairly well, Link wanted to defend his home and had rushed to its aid. Mipha had joined him.
Everything had been fine until the blood moon had come in the middle of the fight.
Link supposed it wasn't a complete disaster - they'd still won, after all. But goddess above, at what cost?
Mipha whimpered a bit as she tried to sit up a little more. Link gently put pressure on her shoulders to get her to relax.
"Please," he nearly begged. "You've done enough, Mipha. Just let me help."
His beloved wilted a little at his tone, her love for him fighting against her worry for the other soldiers. Link adored her for her compassion, but by Hylia she could be stubborn.
Well. He could be too, he supposed. Both their parents had commented that if they could have children they would be the most hardheaded beings on the planet.
The current dilemma, though, was due to Mipha's stubbornness, and his own would win out in this fight. Mipha had gotten an arrow to her leg, and it had impaled all the way through. The scream she'd let out was still ringing in Link's ears, making his skin crawl. Ever since he'd almost lost her to the Calamity, any injury she received was like being thrown back to that awful day. His heart was still racing just thinking about it.
The injury itself was painful to look at it, but Link knew Mipha's healing skills were more than enough to take care of it. The issue was that she'd spent her energy healing the Hylian soldiers all around her instead, and at this point she was too exhausted.
"Why do you do this to yourself?" he murmured, not really expecting an answer as he traced his finger around the wound.
"I have to help," Mipha answered quietly, a little browbeaten.
Link felt bad for making her guilty over such a gift, for such tender and considerate love for all. He sighed, cupping her cheeks with his hands. "I know. But... you can't help others if you wear yourself out. You worry me."
Mipha sighed, leaning into his touch and closing her eyes. "I'm sorry, Link."
Link tapped her face with his thumb, making her look at him. He didn't say anything more, but he leaned in for a quick kiss before leaning back and letting her go. He sifted through his bag a little before finding a spare belt. He felt his insides grow a little cold as he pulled it out. He'd used this item time and again when handling his own wounds, but...
Goddess, he really wished they didn't have to keep fighting like this. Hyrule had known peace for so long.
He couldn't imagine a better partner in battle, though.
"Bite down on this," he ordered as he offered the belt to her. Mipha took it and complied without argument, knowing what was coming.
Link found himself wishing desperately that he had even an ounce of Mipha's healing magic. He seemed the least magically inclined person by his own observations - Zelda, Mipha, Urbosa, Daruk... even Revali to a degree had some kind of magical ability to their name. He supposed his magic was his fighting prowess.
It absolutely paled in comparison.
What good was such magic in the face of the others? The only closest equivalent was Urbosa, whose abilities were really only utilized for violence such as his. Link had never been ashamed of his gifts before, but in this moment he wished so desperately that his hands could heal more so than hurt.
It's not hurting. It's defending. And that's equally important, he reminded himself.
And then he glanced again at Mipha, who could both heal and defend. His heart swelled, a smile pulling at his lips. Goddess, he loved her.
Mipha gave him a bewildered look for a moment before softening and returning the smile. But then she grimaced as she moved her leg a little, and Link focused on the moment again, warmth forgotten.
Positioning her leg a little better, Link visualized both sides of the arrow where it pierced all the way through. In her state, Mipha wasn't likely to be able to heal the wound for at least a few hours, so he'd have to stop the bleeding in the best way he knew how. He prayed she could heal herself sooner rather than later as... well...
Tourniquets hurt. But the risk for further injury and bleeding and infection were too high to sit on this.
He glanced at Mipha, silently asking if she was ready. She nodded, face determined, though her nervous wringing of her hands belayed her anxiety.
Link pushed the shaft with a fast, fluid motion. He wasn't sure if the whimper that escaped his beloved was better or worse than a scream. His hands went back to her face quickly, leaning his forehead against hers in comfort before he eased the belt out of her clenched jaw and tied it around her thigh. Mipha gasped in pain as he tightened it, watching the bleeding slow and then stop entirely.
Mipha leaned against the wall, sighing, her eyes closed tightly. Link shuffled to sit beside her and pulled her to him.
"I'm sorry," he mumbled. I'm sorry I can't heal like you can.
"Don't--ah!--don't be," Mipha said shakily, huddling closer to him. "You h-helped me. Thank you."
Link sighed heavily. Mipha just couldn't help being nice. One of these days he was going to kidnap her to some beautiful place where she didn't have to lead, worry, heal, or do anything for at least a week and he could just take care of her.
"I'll be able to heal it soon, I think," Mipha noted.
Link nodded, pulling away before scooping her into his arms. She yelped in surprise, making him smile.
"Well, in the meantime, I'll take care of you."

Sorry for being a nuisance 🥰 I know you're probably getting waaaay to much of these (but you're doing such an awesome job with them 😍) and may be tired of fake banter...
but fake banter for Fenris and the Iron Bull, please? 🙏
And/Or
more banter for Fenris and Dorian, please, please, please? 🥺🥺🥺
Hello! I picked Bull and Fenris for this. It's pretty goofy since my last banter was so heavy. Also it requires a disclaimer:
Look. Sometimes. These don't go in the direction I expect. I lose control and have no choice but to write down whatever it is the blorbos want to say. I'm absolving myself of any and all responsibility here. Enjoy
____
Fenris: Is there something you want, Qunari?
Iron Bull: You've got a reputation with the Vints. The things they say about the Blue Wraith... it's good to meet you.
(Third Party Member Dependant)
Dorian: Wait... Bull, are you a fan?
Blackwall: I think the man's in love!
Cole: He likes watching the blood drip to the grass. He feels warm when it matches the beat.
Solas: Tread carefully Iron Bull, our guest’s abilities can be unpredictable.
Cassandra: You are aware this is a friend of the Champion, yes?
Sera: Uh-oh. Watch out glowy-man!
Vivienne: Oh dear, I do believe the Wraith has added another heart to his collection.
Varric: Hate to tell you Tiny, but you've got loads of competition for that one.
Iron Bull: What? Not every day you meet a guy who can rip the beating heart out of a man’s chest with his bare hands. Getting to see it up close is nice.
Fenris: That's... a unique response.
____
Iron Bull: Hey, Fenris?
Fenris: Yes, Qunari?
Iron Bull: Ben-Hassrath. Get it right.
Fenris: No.
Iron Bull: Uh- okay- You looking for work after this gig? Chargers could use a guy like you.
Fenris: You’d like me to join your mercenaries?
Iron Bull: We’d give you steady work. Good coin. Good drinks. The chance to stick your hands wherever you want.
Fenris: Tempting. I’m afraid I have my own uses for my talents.
Iron Bull: Oh yeah, I bet.
Fenris: What?
Iron Bull: What?
____
Iron Bull: What’s the weirdest thing you’ve ever ripped out of a guy?
Fenris: What answer are you expecting?
Iron Bull: A second heart? Some crazy blood crystal? Oh! A man eats his twin in the womb, never knows it, and then the last thing he sees is you rip it out of him!
Fenris: I once grabbed a man’s stomach by mistake. It was unpleasant.
Iron Bull: You're not as fun as I thought you’d be.
Fenris: I weep to hear it.
____
Iron Bull: You stand taller every time we pass someone who looks noble.
Fenris: Are you about to accuse me of reflexive respect shown to those in power?
Iron Bull: Oh, I think it's reflexive. I don't think it's respect.
Fenris: What is it then?
Iron Bull: Respect would be standing so they feel important, careful you don't stare too long at the face. You look straight at them. Move your shoulders in a way that makes you look big. You let them know one step too close, and they won't get to make a step back.
Fenris: I see. Teth a, Qunari.
Iron Bull: That's all I do, Wraith.
____
Iron Bull: Hate to say it boss, but all these demons might make you the worst contract we've ever had.
Fenris: I once faced a demon of pure magic and stone, lost in the pits of a forgotten dwarven thaig.
Iron Bull: Wait… really?
Fenris: We had been in the Deep Roads for a week. After being deliberately trapped and left to rot.
Iron Bull: I can’t tell if you’re joking.
Fenris: By the man who hired us.
Iron Bull: Ah, now I believe you. Shitty clients? Nothing’s impossible.
____
Iron Bull: (Groans)
Fenris: Sore?
Iron Bull: Anyone ever tell you you're heavier than you look?
Fenris: Yes. Stronger too.
Iron Bull: That part's not a problem
Inquisitor: Everything alright, Bull?
Iron Bull: Fine boss. We were just blowing off a little steam. Doing some sparring.
Inquisitor: What kind of sparring put you in this condition?
Iron Bull: My kind.
Fenris: Am I still less fun than you thought?
Iron Bull: Can't tell by just one session, Wraith.
Fenris: Then I'll have to see you tonight, Qunari.
Inquisitor: I... Please don't break anything.
Iron Bull: No promises, boss.

how would the characters react to losing fpk?
ohh yeah that's a good question. it's not something i want to think about (fpk dying that is), but i still think that discussing such possibility is a good way to explore each character
grimm - oh man, he would be completely devastated. fpk disappearing without a trace was already very hard on him, but at least he could hold onto a small glimpse of hope that wherever fpk was, he was alive and well. but if he actually died? fpk is what gave meaning to his life, as unhealthy as it is, the relationship was the only light in his life for a long while, even if at the time they were just friends. so i actually wouldn't be surprised if one of his first instincts would be to completely give up. the only way to kill him is to destroy the nightmare heart, and, well. i wouldn't put it past him to attempt that. i think the only thing stopping him from going with it would be lewk. of course, hornet and holly are also like his children, but lewk is the fruit of his love for fpk, so if he decided to keep going, it would be for him. and if there is a god of death somewhere in their world, he would be willing to personally face them and drag fpk out of the afterlife. would it be possible? probably not, but that wouldn't stop him
hornet - on the surface, she wouldn't react as emotionally as grimm. she's used to losing everyone around her, right? that's what she would tell herself. but deep down, it would affect her more than any other death. she loved fpk, despite their hardships, he was her dad, he was always there for her when she was a child. she may have said a lot or cruel things to him in her anger, but she never truly meant any of it. so if he died, she would be devastated. not as openly as grimm, but she wouldn't move on as easily as she'd hope
holly - they would be heartbroken, though i do think they would take it a bit better than the others. with wl being their mother, they definitely inherited some of that distance towards their own emotions, so they don't get influenced by them as much as the others. and in a time like that, they would try to support everyone else. they can't cry, they don't have the rage within them to react in anger, so this is the best they could do to cope with it. there's also definitely the fact that, aside from lewk, they had the shortest time to experience fpk as their father. that's not to say they never got attached to him, quite the opposite. but it can't be denied that it would have an effect on how they process this, and at the very least it would allow them to support others
zote - he's not very close to fpk at any point in the au, so he wouldn't be as affected by his potential death. of course, he would feel the loss, whether he likes it or not he did get used to seeing fpk around, so his absence wouldn't go unnoticed. he'd definitely act like an ass to cover up the fact that he does actually feel saddened by it, as expected from him
lewk - his reaction would depend on how old he is at that point. if he's very young, he would have trouble understanding what happened and why his dad is gone, and even if the others explained it to him, he wouldn't fully process it until he was older. he'd definitely feel grimm's grief, not just as an emotion but its effects - grimm's sense of joy would be gone, and lewk would quickly notice the change in his behavior. i could see him becoming more close to holly as a result, since both grimm and hornet would be too consumed by their grief to properly look after him, even if grimm tried his best to hold it together for his sake
---
fuck man, i got really sad just thinking about this. now i feel the need to draw them all hugging and being happy. the blorbo version of hugging your cat or dog when you see a tragic story about someone else's pet

thinking about the faroe situation again and like. Imagine something with me.
you are a babysitter five days a week. Part of your job is giving a bath. You usually do this at seven thirty and the parent usually get back at nine. You’ve had time planned off for months however, maybe just a movie, maybe a doctors appointment, but something you asked for ahead of time and asked they come home early so you can be there at eight.
they get in a little after you start the bath, the entire bottom of the bath isn’t even wet yet. You hear them get in, go out and great them. “Oh, how was the date, fine fine thank you for letting me off early today. I started her bath, waters still running so you’ll need to check on her, ok? Great thank you so much have a great night.”
and then you leave, because your job is over and you shared all the information needed and they’re her parents who love her more than anything and you’ve been waiting months for this night off. They said they had it handled.
you find out when you come to work the next day they never checked on her and fell asleep watching Netflix, and now she’s dead. This happened say, 15-20 minutes after you left.
now, what could’ve you done to avoid this? You had no way to know the parents would slack off, no reason to question or do any of the following, but you think about what you might’ve done if they seemed a bit distracted:
1: “Thanks for watching her! Heres your money have a great night!” “actually I’m going to stay here until I see you go into the bathroom.”
“excuse me? Are you doubting my parenting? I already told you it’s fine. Didn’t you have an appointment? Go.”
2: “I am physically taking you to the bathroom”
this might end in firing.
3: “I’m actually going to miss my appointment and finish her bath real quick.”
“no it’s fine we got this.”
4: maybe you should’ve never put her in the bath
“she’s in bed”
“yeah? Did she brush her teeth? Get her bath?”
“no I didn’t want to leave in the middle.”
“so now we have to wake her up and do your job for you because you don’t trust us to parent. I get that you had an appointment but I’m really displeased with you, it’s part of your job and why we pay you.”
“I’m sorry.”
“I’ll let it slide this time but you need to do your job.”
like. She told him. She was off the clock. She said months ahead of time she wanted the night off. She didn’t leave her in a full tub, it was still running. Her employer and parent of the kid dismissed her and told her to go. What else was she supposed to do. Was she supposed to psychiclly know he was going to be in the zone? Cancel her night off? Not do her job? How was she supposed to know he wasn’t going to do the thing he said he would when she left the kid? If it’s a “she should’ve know Arthur would be in the zone” 1 is it her job to take care of or pay any attention to Arthur? No. 2 Arthur should also know he’d get distracted and already knew she was leaving early that night. Maybe just don’t start the piano if you know that.
literally her crime was starting a job off for someone else, who again, SAID THEY WERE ON IT TO FINISH IT, and then leaving on her scheduled time off. Like. Come on. Is she actually at fault or are you uncomfortable with Blorbo being right about taking blame for something because he’s so sad and the main character? or maybe she should’ve been expected to do better because she’s a woman taking care of a kid? Like what.

Happy Birthday to My Beloved Blorbo, Oda Sakunosuke! 🎉
AAAAAAA
Tumblr media
he's so beautiful I can't-
(long post ahead)
this is the guy who
used to be an assassin at age 14
quit his job after reading a book and meeting its author (asagiri behavior btw - the 'left his job cause he wanted to write' part lol)
saw an injured dazai and brought him in his house (lit the equivalent of seeing a random injured criminal and knowingly bringing him into your house lol)
wrapped dazai in a blanket, trapped him in his house until he recovered safely
reacted to dazai's unhinged behavior and threats with an 'oh okay' attitude (unironically btw. he's really just like that TT)
was strong enough to be mistaken for a WHOLE organization
no one even had clues that it was him TT
made dazai embarrassed
“Of course, you would be wary of the switch. So, I had to distract you by conversation.”
“So, the games and the flow of conversation till now, were both according to your plan, you mean?”
“Hehe. Saying important things as a camouflage to get what you want. That is the basis of the negotiation technique.”
I ask as I organize the cards, “Which is camouflage of which?”
Dazai's expression turns blank for a second, as if he has been caught off guard. But it is only for a moment. He turns his head to the side to hide his expression and smiles. If I am not wrong, there is an embarrassed expression on his face. It is under the dark lighting of the bar, so I might have been mistaken though.
-- The Day I Picked Up Dazai (TDIPUD) (translation by @popopretty; you can find it in her tags i think)
^^ LOL. Oda 'I might have been mistaken' Sakunosuke (this is the guy who understood Dazai the most)
had a conversation with Shibusawa in Dead Apple and wasn't killed - in fact, Shibasawa even wanted to talk to him again if he had the chance (Oda TT he's got that 'I attract mentally unstable people and fix them' rizz lmao. Fyodor, take down notes).
did not expect Dazai to ask for a second meeting:
Dazai’s wounds have already crossed the most critical time. Just leave them like that and they will heal on their owns. My role here is over. So is our relationship.
Dazai nods and takes the cards from me. Then in a casual tone, he says those words.
“When are we meeting next?”
I stop what I am doing and look at Dazai.
-- TDIPUD
(Oda really said 'no' to attachment issues SAJDIAFJ. he's the kind of wonderful guy you meet once online and feel sad cause you can't find them again TT)
was the lowest ranking member in the mafia (and he slayed it too. did the jobs no one else wanted ugh)
despite the typical black-suit-shades look that low ranking mafiosos wore, Oda wore a BRIGHT COLORED, beige cream coat (do yall realize how much this must have made him stand out?? in a pool full of black - he stood out. Also the fact that mafiosos wear black so that blood isn't visible when it stains -- but Oda DECIDED TO STOP killing people hence why he didn't need to wear black. UgH such an icon ✨.)
survived the Dragon Heads Conflict (obviously 🙄)
adopted 5 orphans from that conflict
supported them financially, visited them on weekends, left them under the care of the curry-shop owner, connected w them!!!
managed a few shops for the mafia (reread Dark Era if you missed this detail; p. 94)
listener friend; listened to Dazai's antics and took them seriously (I bet he's the type who never forgets any minor detail their friend tells him)
joined in Dazai's chaos and hugged and tickled Ango (sibling behavior lol. Oda's just as chaotic - only difference is he does it with a straight face 😭 if Oda was in the ADA, Kunikida would grow white hair LOL. Imagine the chaos he and Dazai would bring TT - plus Dazai would be 10x happier. friendly reminder that Dazai gave Ango and Oda drugged food and when he offered to cook again, Oda's response was 'If it keeps you from getting tired, then it might be pretty useful before a hard day's work' like BRUH elfeofk.)
this isn't noticeable at first but despite always seeing himself as less than Dazai cause of their rank, Oda literally called Dazai by his name in front of the other mafia members (and no - he didn't even consciously think about it 😭). Imagine being a random mafioso and suddenly you see the lowest ranking member call an executive informally. like??? Oda's co-workers would call Dazai 'Dazai-san' while Oda be out there speaking casually like 'hey dude.' It's funny cause Oda is dense so he prob didn't even think of 'Office Codes' (yk the typical social rules where if ur friends w ur boss u call them formally at work? yea. Oda does not care LOL.)
He has good intuition
[Then I looked myself in my room and cycled through my thoughts [...] I listened only to my heartbeat as I observed the emotions bubbling up from within me like foam. I had a feeling something would happen[...]it was the small tinge everyone gets before something's about to happen. But realistically, there was virtually nothing I could do about it until it actually occurred and slapped me in the face. The world isn't kind. You have to be tough.] << relatable.
He sassed Mori HELP 😂😭
"At any rate, you just got here. You did not see a thing. Understand?"
"Yes, sir." I nodded in agreement. [...] "I only just arrived. Thank you for taking a break from undressing a young girl and chasing her around the room for me. So what was it you needed me for?"
The boss pinched his brows together for a few moments to think before nodding as if he had made up his mind. -- The Dark Era
He can see into the future
this is honestly a cool ability with so much potential. I'm going to promote this post by @raaanpo because why not. it's cool. :)
Such a caring friend (he gave Ango the benefit of the doubt, was crushed at the betrayal, and the way he thinks about dazai i cant- TT)
I already knew what Dazai was trying to say and what his intentions were and yet I had no choice but to scrutinize his every word to find some sort of silver lining.
"Maybe Ango really was lying but he's an informant who deals with top-secret information on the Mafia. It's only natural he'd have a secret meeting or two. You can't blame him for that"
-- p.46, Dark Era (DE)
**
"Hey Dazai" [...] "Is there any possibility that someone framed Ango and is pulling the strings from behind the scenes?" -- p.61, DE
**
Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Ango turn his back to me before leaving with the Special Forces. [...] My tongue numb, I called out to Ango as he left, but even I didn't know what I was saying. An indescribable feeling of loneliness was the only thing filling my heart...as if I were floating at the end of the universe. Even that was swallowed by darkness. My consciousness faded to black. -- p.90, DE
**
"Dazai, stop" I begged in a hushed tone. [...]
"Dazai!" I screamed. I felt as though we were thousands of miles apart. [...]
"Sorry to shock you like that" (<< dazai's the one speaking here btw) [...]
Had our ranks or relations been any different, I probably would have punched him right then. (note: this reminds me of when Fukuzawa slapped Ranpo TT) However, I am me and there was nothing I could do to him.
After returning my gun to its holster, I turned my back to Dazai and began walking away. With every step I took, I felt as if the ground were going to collapse, creating a bottomless hole that I would fall through for an eternity. Dazai's expression as he placed his finger on his forehead and approached the enemy-- that of a child about to burse into tears--remained burned into my eyes. -- chap 1, DE
^^ it's giving friend-who-knows-you're-depressed-but-waits-for-you-to-tell-them energy like 😭😭bruh Oda knew. he knew dazai was depressed but he didn't push him about it. he just listened to any of dazai's ramblings and was there for him. ugh. Oda TT
also oda and ango :")
Ango looked at us and continued, "If there ever comes a time when the Division and the Mafia no longer exist...if we're ever freed from the confines of our work...do you think we can drink here again like this?"
"Don't say any more, Ango" a voice said nearby. It was my voice. "Just don't." [...]
I figured that was probably the last time I would ever see him.
(I still maintain the belief that Oda only said this because he knew the tensions were high and Dazai literally just threatened to torture and kill Ango moments ago. That last line hurts, man.)
Insecure king
(despite being a powerful ex assassin and supporting 5 kids - my goodness does Oda have insecurity issues :") )
These are just some scenes of Oda not realizing what a king he is 😭
This was Dazai though; he was probably just talking out of his ass. A man in his twenties isn't going to be much of a balm for anyone's soul. -- p.17, DE
(help why does this sound so funny 😂)
I nodded. Dazai was always right and I was always doing the wrong thing. -- p.40, DE
"Maybe I should recruit them.." Dazai smirked while wiping his sweat. "I heard all about it, Odasaku. You're raising five kids, huh? And not only that, they're orphans from the Dragon Head's Conflict."
Even if I'd tried to hide it, Dazai would've been able to figure it out with just half a day's worth of research. -- p.56, DE
(says the guy who managed to hide the painting without anyone knowing. Ngl Dazai was kind of being a dick here TT).
Even if I took Ango's side there, nothing would change. (note: oda sweetie, you're starting to act like Dazai TT.) There was no way to break out of Dazai's trap around the bar's perimeter and the children would be killed if I betrayed the Mafia. --p.119, DE
^^ see what I'm talking about? tensions were high. it's not like Oda hated Ango. He just didn't want to escalate the situation. And plus, Oda's never been a false-hope type of guy. So when he rejected Ango's wish, it doesn't mean he hates him or doesn't want to be friends anymore. he's just protecting himself from getting his hopes up and being realistic. On another note, I think being in the Mafia def affected Oda negatively. He was much more confident in TDIPD. :(
Lost king
After getting into the car, I recklessly hightailed it to the office. I don't really remember much about what happened along the way; I might've driven down the three-lane highway in the wrong direction two or three times. -- chap 1, DE
If someone were to peer inside my mind at that moment, they would've witnessed something akin to a massive volcanic eruption. Countless question marks would have been blasting out of the crater, blanketing the sky in its entirety. And yet, the only visible reaction I had was a twitch of a finger. -- p.18, DE
I ended up standing in front of the son and introducing myself. As “the person who killed your father.” There was no word that could describe how angry the son was. He had all the rights to be angry. [...] He was hitting me, throwing stuff at me, and attacking me with all sorts of insults. I could easily dodge all of his attacks, but there was no way to avoid the insults.
When he became exhausted from all the rampage and finally sat down, I explained to him about the killing. After that, he demanded a compensation. For his father’s life, and for the rental fee of that book I took without permission. -- TDIPD
(bruh. Oda's wildin 😭 pulled up at the front door and said 'yeah I killed your father' like DJFWEIJF. If Oda became an author, he would def be openly weird like the author of chainsaw man and he'd be the type to share life lore w his fans despite it being illegal😭:
'Oda! I'm a big fan! I have a question. Did you ever kill a person? Why is your writing so good at capturing that stuff?'
I'm willing to bet good money he would actually answer that question honestly.
RBF king
I was sure I looked even grumpier than usual [...] I wasn't actually in a bad mood though. It was merely a problem of balance because my hands were full [...]. You'd need a little training to carry these with a smile. -- p.121, DE
('you'd need a little training to carry these with a smile.' << it's giving uncle vibes 😭)
Writer's block king
"Because there's only one story I want to write, and it's in here." I tapped my temple. "Unfortunately, I don't have the necessary tools or skills to bring this story to life. I feel like a lost mountaineer standing before the tallest, most sacred mountain in the world with just a single, tiny ax" -- BEAST LN
(Oda stop being so relatable...)
Was a good mentor to Akutagawa in BEAST LN (lit trained him, was okay w his antics, and was willing to go against the Mafia for him. Dazai who? Akutagawa was WAY more stable with Oda as his mentor 😭)
"How are you earning enough to take care of them?" (<< Aku asking)
"That's a secret." Oda let out a faint, almost inaudible laugh.
**
What I needed to do now, however, was worry about the new recruit, since he was a hundred times more messed up in the head than me.
**
Dazai walked over with a faint, indecipherable smile. "I've been training Atsushi for four and a half years, yet you beat him. It's hard to believe..." (uhm duh. that's cause he was trained by Oda 🙄💅who doesn't abuse his students unlike y-)
**
"Akutagawa, it was actually Oda who obtained this video," said Tanizaki who was seated. "Even with Ranpo's Super Deduction and Oda's extraordinary skill, Flawless [...], it took them three whole days to sneak into the secret facility and steal the footage. That just shows you how extremely dangerous the mission was and how hard it was to get this information."
That was when it hit Akutagawa. He had just recently been asked to watch over the orphans for three days while Oda was out of town on business.
ugH. KING behavior 😩👑
He's read the Bible
"John 12:24. You're surprisingly well read, Sakunosuke." --p.144, DE
^^ imagine if he and Fyodor had a conversation. that would be p. interesting.
was kind to the curry shop owner (ill elaborate later cause im so sleepy rn)
--- and so much more. I actually have a whole fanfic in my head of Oda TT (and that Oda is a lot different from the one in canon but is based off of him. yeah...I like Oda if u couldn't alr tell.😭)
I urge yall to please read Dark Era and The Day I Picked Up Dazai. It captures his character way more than the anime.
To end this post, I want to give tribute to the IRL! Oda Sakunosuke cause that's who the bsd character is based from and Oct 26 is his actual birthday 😸

If Endgame Steve is so out of character because he's Not Really Steve (Skrull, android copy, clone, etc) perhaps Sharon Carter in tFatWS has turned to confusing villainy for no discernable reason because she's not actually Sharon, but rather Peggy possessing her niece?
If Sharon was being possessed by Peggy they wouldn't be admitting she's a villain.
They'd be Ebony Dark'ness Dementia Raven Waying her, giving her Sam's title, putting her in all the promo (where is Sam? who cares he's not feige's blorbo!) and inventing time travel to make sure that the most attractive Ken can date her.
(Crucially, Sharon is actually competent as a spy, and temperamentally suited to that job, which Peggy is not. So if Peggy was possessing Sharon, to us she'd appear to suddenly have picked up the idiot ball, and yet still be getting credited for showing a level of competence she does not, in fact, show.)
Also: Sharon in the MCU hasn't ever really not been a villain?
Like she wasn't included in the 'people we can trust to help bring down Nazis' group. (After being fine with dressing up as a modern version of Steve's Dead Mum to spy on/honeytrap him, which to be fair is her job but also a textbook example of why Steve doesn't date spies like Nat.)
She stayed in SHIELD even when they accused Steve of a crime she knew damn well he could not have committed, because she was right there when it happened. And she stayed in as part of the team while they were hunting Steve down and sending fighter jets and missiles and Strike teams after him.
(Contrast: Natasha did the opposite of all this. What exactly was stopping Sharon doing the right thing, too? Family Tradition?)
She only eventually did the right thing (stopping even more missiles being dropped) once Rumlow was pointing guns at actually-courageous-and-brave unarmed tech-dude's head (ed: whose name is apparently Cameron Klein!) right in front of her. And once it was spelled out (by the innocent guy she knows is innocent but didn't object to SHIELD hunting down or do anything to stop that) that millions would die if Insight launched.
But, crucially, her 'help' didn't go as far as actually killing Rumlow, which left him free to almost kill Sam (and, later, in CW) Steve -- and all those other innocent people caught in his bomb in Lagos.
(If Sharon had just done the right thing properly... That rotten apple really doesn't fall far huh...)
And then she immediately went to work for the CIA.
(Contrast: Nat who stuck by Steve, Maria who went to work for Stark).
In CACW Sharon gave Steve a headsup about Bucky's whereabouts and retrieved Steve's shield and Sam's 'bird costume' in Berlin.
...But that was only necessary because her people the CIA took that stuff in the first place. And she even argued in favour of that!
(Which as Sam said "that's cold." Also, weirdly off with Sam in that scene?? I know Carters don't waste manners on people they're not desperate to get fucked by, but still...)
Any good she did was, arguably, only possible because she had voluntarily joined the bad guys -- as a legit agent, not as a double agent -- and was still making up for the fact that she wronged Steve et al in CATWS.
Then, that awkward as hell kiss.
Like a creep, she expected a physical sexual reward from Steve for helping out (fun fact, you can see the inverted non-creepy version of this with Thor and Valkyrie in Ragnarok!)
And agreed with Steve that he took too long to deliver (late to being creeped on? having his personal space violated? Steve bb this is making me sad.)
Another bad inherited family trait I guess...
(In the original cut, Sharon & Steve had had a drink together after the funeral / right before all this went down, which adds crucial context to the moment which is sadly not canon. 😕
However... Even with that factored in: expecting a kiss from a guy you've been on a semi date-ish with, hours and hours earlier... when he clearly doesn't want to kiss now, off his own bat (clearly isn't thinking of it, and if he'd wanted to kiss her, could've done so earlier, when they were still in a romantic-ish context?) 😬
Still kinda creepy...)
So when white woman for the first time in her life encountered ✨A Consequence✨ she turned to a life of organised crime in Indonesia (...something kinda icky about that too, just me? a bit Colonialismy?) but still whined about- I dunno, having to live in a mansion?? 🤷‍♀️
So villainy doesn't seem that OOC to me.
From state-sanctioned, to outcast, back to state-sanctioned. She was briefly one of the (bad-guys-doing-human-experiments) outside the system... but now she has returned to being one of the (bad-guys-doing-human-experiments) from inside the system (more continuing the Carter family tradition). By breaking bad she's really just re-establishing her original status quo.
If anything it's unusually consistent characterisation, coming from a DisneyProduct!
(Although, to be fair, we all know they're only doing it so they can villain-turn Sharon in the comics... so that they can shove Hyacinth Bucket: Agent GropyMcNaziCollaborator in her place, since Sharon was comics-Steve's big love interest for decades; he actually ditched Peggy for her.)
ps. if this family had one good member it's because they foolishly married in.

MY OFFICIAL THOUGHTS AND OPINIONS ON AQUAMAN AND THE LOST KINGDOM. Spoilers ahead.
OKAY. I was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked it. It was very fun and it did not have the problem of too many villains that I was expecting based on everything I read. If that was the result of the rewrites and reshoots, I am happy for them.
A lot of the visuals and smaller adventures felt very Silver Age! There were certain creatures that were directly from the 60s, which I appreciated. Topo was lovely. If you know me, you know one of my major gripes with some of the recent Aquaman comics is that they do not lean into the animal sidekick thing anymore. And the group of whales straight up killing all those people? THAT is the Aquaman content I like to see.
The horror elements were just enough to balance out the sillier parts. Although I knew Arthur Jr was never in any actual danger, this is the closest DC has come since the 70s to making it even somewhat realistic that they would kill a baby. Like, I knew they wouldn't. But for once I said to myself, "they've established this enough that I believe this threat." You know my stance on DC trying to bait another Death of a Prince...
The cursed Trident possessing Manta was giving such Preboot Orm vibes. I liked it, I appreciate a slow possession arc. Manta was scary and felt like a real threat, which is difficult to achieve when he's a human and he's fighting people so much stronger than him. Shin was also SO good, you knew he was going to redeem himself but it still felt very natural for him to do so. Idk why Manta trusted him with the baby duffel bag tho, after all the times Shin clearly was snooping and giving Manta disapproving looks. Also why did they put that baby in a duffel bag lmao
Overall, it was a pretty straightforward story that felt easy to follow. This isn't always the case for superhero films, so it was refreshing. And a good end to the franchise. This actually felt like it would have been a great end to a TRILOGY, and that we were missing a middle story...
HOWEVER.
Not to make this about me and my blorbo but.......this would have made a lot more sense as a story about Arthur and Garth. I'm sorry, but it's true. Every time I saw a Silver Age reference, I just said to myself "oh yeah, that's a story with Aqualad in it, but now it's Orm." I KNOW that Orm needed his lil redemption arc, but if Patrick Wilson was not besties with James Wan, I don't think he would have gotten one.
Because Kordax was Slizzath. He just was. They took Slizzath's story and renamed him Kordax. So many parts of the movie I was like "this is adapted from Tempest (1996)" BUT IF THEY HAD USED SLIZZATH WITHOUT GARTH I WOULD HAVE BEEN PISSED so I get it but I don't get it, you know? But Kordax was just Slizzath.
I posted a few years ago about my ideal Aquaman trilogy, and tbh this felt like my ideal third movie, plot-wise and tone-wise......except my vision was about Garth, not Orm. Orm could be there, I guess, but imo he should have had a sequel redemption and then the third movie should have introduced the evil sorcerer thing. It would have made perfect sense to need Atlan's blood, thinking they're fine because they saved the baby but then Garth accidentally bleeds on the altar and unlocking his powers, and releasing Slizzath. PLUS then he could freeze the ice caps again with his new found powers lmao I'm worried about the implications.........nobody in this universe has ice powers.....
I get that it would have been hard to introduce a new character for a sequel with absolutely no chance at a third movie, so I do understand that Garth was never an option....but holy shit, Garth would have been a perfect fit for this movie.
AGAIN, not to make it about my blorbo .......
also I cannot believe they killed Vulko via plague?? I almost laughed out loud. It's absolutely because they could not reconcile that if Vulko was alive, Arthur would not need Orm's help lmao RIP Vulko I choose to believe you were hanging around as a ghost like in Vol 5
One last gripe but omg Atlan's trident looked so BAD in some scenes??? It looked very prop-like, and not metal at all??? did anyone else notice it? It's really bad on the iceberg scene. The costumes were actually great but omg that trident prop lmao
OVERALL, it was a really fun movie. I'm happy to say that I liked it. I think it will get bad critic reviews and really good audience reviews. It just felt very fun and heartfelt. The action scenes were also well lit and easy to follow, and that alone should convince people to see it
I'm going to see it again tomorrow and I want to make a list of the other random things that I noticed. I know I'm missing a lot. How did ya'll feel about it??
