Blondie - Parallel Lines

The bubblegum pop of the 60 meets the punk rock edge of the 70s. Debbie Harry bridges the gap effortlessly with her energetic delivery. And the music somehow never doesn't sound punk even when they are deep into bubbly pop numbers or disco. There's a bit of polish compared to their debut, but Blondie really manage to stand out from the crowd by leveraging that against the rawer punk sound of the late 70s to create an essential piece of new wave music.

Eminem - The Marshall Mathers LP

Eminem is one of the weirdest rappers out there. Well he was before they killed him and replaced him with an army recruitment robot. There are nested levels of kayfabe happening here that I wanna break down. Slim Shady is a character played by Eminem who is a character played by Marshall Mathers. The three personae all have very different opinions on their newfound success and the way the song's attitudes towards nearly everything veers wildly back and forth can be explained by this. Marshall Mathers is conflicted but ultimately unashamed of his work, Eminem is feeling a little ashamed of the character of slim shady and how that character has affected people, and Slim Shady is fucking insane. The interplay between these three makes Eminem's second album a lot more thoughtful and engaging than his first. Now you're gonna need an extremely high tolerance for homophobia and mysogyny because that is the bread and butter of his shock value, and he whips slurs around at an even higher rate that his first. But to me it is so incredibly extreme that there is no reality that is reflected by this music. Mathers' absolute mastery of the craft is also on display and ramped up. The Real Slim Shady has an insane flow that delivers rhymes with a pace that will give you whiplash. And of course how can we forget Stan? The song that somehow became the internet's phrase du jour for diehard fandom. It's impeccable how well Eminem delivers the lines in a way that evokes a letter without ever breaking the flow or rhyme scheme. His mastery of storytelling on Stan is on par, if not better than, Slick Rick himself. I don't know if I'll get any shit for saying this is a fantastic album slurs and all but like there's a little Slim Shady in all of us isn't there? Come indulge him a bit.

Led Zeppelin - Physical Graffiti

Yeah ok Physical Graffiti is an enjoyable album that sees Led Zeppelin playing around with long ass songs and some prog rock type stuff. The long ones like Kashmir and In The Light are really good, and I love the little folk dirty that is Bron-Yr-Aur. It runs too long though and honestly why are we fucking around with a bunch of Led Zeppelin albums on this list? Houses Of The Holy? Physical Graffiti? Just put Zeppelin IV on the list and call it a day.

Velvet Underground - s/t

I don't fucking understand this list. Are they really gonna put on every single Velvet Underground record? Why is this apparently the second best one? It's a good album don't get me wrong, but c'mon. The official Audrey ranking goes &Nico>White Light/White Heat>Loaded>Velvet Underground. And I don't even think the last two ought to make the top 500 list. This album is too soft and delicate with the only real standout track being the penultimate song an eight minute jam called The Murder Mystery. The rest is pleasant but samey. Easily Velvet Underground's weakest offering.

Bruce Springsteen - Born In The U.S.A.

What a weird but predictable turn of events that led this album to lead a double life. Upbeat pop melodies, a down home aesthetic, and an American flag on the album's cover drew in a crowd who would be fundamentally opposed to Springsteen's compassionate left wing beliefs if they had listened any farther than the chorus of the title track. The sessions that led to Born In The U.S.A. were the same ones that produced Nebraska and you can see it in some of the lyricism. A lot of sad stories about broken people just a little more well produced and with the E Street Band back in full force. Although a couple of tracks, I'm On Fire and My Hometown especially, sound like they could have just been off Nebraska.

I've gone away from the fandom quite a lot. Been here round same time as everyone else but never made many (or if any) friends.

Its kinda like high school everyone has cliques and so many were friends prior to joining fandom and all have lots of other bands and stuff in common.

I liked Lost Society and Shiraz Lane like 2 yrs prior to everyone loving the whole BC plus group and mentioned them as recs to people at start of BC tumblr but no one cared then a few blogs here became obsessed with them out of the blue and yet no one interacted with me about them.

I also feel left out since pretty much everyone here has seen them live and coz I havent due to living in Portugal the fandom don't care much about me since I haven't had that experience.

So basically I think the fandom is OK if you have connections prior or live in a country they visit but if not you get left out quite a lot.

I can definitely see previous friendships affecting things and I'm consistently guilty of that too, pretty much all my fandoms I've either joined something a friend was already into, or I've yelled about it long enough to trap one of my old friends in the new thing with me. so honestly, I admire everyone who comes into a new fandom alone and makes that effort to reach out and make new friends.

I haven't noticed being to a show to be something tumblr people would've judged anyone on nor has it personally ever crossed my mind to treat anyone differently because of that. obviously I'm not going to sit here and straight up claim it doesn't happen if that's something you've experienced, but I do wonder if that's more you having a different fandom experience and personally feeling like an outsider because of it, rather than the rest of the fandom actively leaving you out over something that trivial. after all, a huge bunch of people here only just saw them on that last EU tour for the first time too, so not having that experience wasn't that uncommon and still isn't that terribly rare I think?

Do people think there will be a sequel to TMA?

When i first listened to Mag 200, i thought for sure that there would be one. (The introduction of multiverses, there being no concrete picture on what happenes next on earth, etc) And since the very last podcast said goodbye for 'now', i was personally pretty sure there would be something coming up, maybe yrs from now on. I just felt that narrative-wise, a sequel would be possible.

But i've literally never seen anyone even expressing hope of a future sequel?? It's kinda jarring since every fandom i've encountered always wanted more content, but TMA fans seem to be satisfied with the show ending, sort of? But i'm not that deeply envolved in fandom stuff, so maybe i missed something...?

and i think the rest of the fandom feels the same way mostly?? tma was wrapped up with the final episode,, basically i think the multiverses and stuff would be fun to explore in fics and aus but if there’s a sequel it’d need to be a completely different podcast (again,, not complaining i’d love that). i’m sure the tma fandom really REALLY wants more stuff tho and they did say there was possibly going to be things being added in the future. at this point i’m just sitting there vibrating in place while refreshing the tma feed. once something shows up then it’s over for yall i’m go ing to go feral 💜

Hey guys!!! Thanks to our lovely anon/blog historian, Soupy, we now have a recorded history!! Blog lore, my beloved. I'll try and start adding in our new things too, but to any newbies out there, come take a look :):):):)

About the lore for this blog, i cannot remember everything, but i can do something about the cursed asks lore and history, since i just scrolled all the posts in the tags!

31 Jan 2021: an anonymous send an ask asking what people actually mean when they tell a ship if "pedophilic". This start a big number of asks about real survivor and how fucked up is fandom water down the word, purity culture, and consequently story time about harassing people in fandom for purity culture.

1 Feb 2021: someone speak about how much fucked up fics helped them. This probably opened the possibility of cursed asks. The same day, someone other send an ask about a terrible person known for harassing people about the sexuality of a character. The person is called "train fucker".

2 Feb 2021: anonymous point the attention on the train fucking thing. The cursed ask tag is created.

In the following hours, always in the cursed ask tag, people discover the fandom was Death Note and the guy was apparently in real attracted to trains and planes. Hell break down, memes are created.

History is made.

One of the characters will later become protagonists of the tag already existed. PKD already was knew since the 22 Jan 2021, when they sent an ask about the color asks and you had the intuition the tags he was probably someone with a piss kink and the tag "chronicles of piss" was created.

Cursed ask history part 2:

At this moment on time,the tags is still not clearly used. One of the First post tagged as such, the 9th Feb, is an anon answering to the ear fucking conversation about micropenis, while all the other posts are not tagged. The day after PKD enter the cursed asks tag, while the others ask still stay out of it. People start sending the stories they read.

12 Feb Hagrid/Hedwig fics are discovered. Owl fucking anon appear. Someone suggest a friendship between them and mlp guy.

Also mlp pony guy is a lore being who did not appear before in the #cursed asks, but already had their history in the simpler ask tag and in the previous cancel scale period, that we could call the ancestor of #cursed ask.

The First post tagged as cancel scale is from the 2nd Jan 2021. It was an anon answering your post of the same day "alright guys scale 1-10 how screwed r u if it ao3 history and bookmarks get released".

This is the gold era of this blog lore. The philanthropist, wound fucking discourse, rpf bdsm and mlp guy (with the first ask behind paywall) appeared during the first month and a half of the year, mixing at the end with the cursed ask tag.

Cursed ask history part 2:

12 Feb Hagrid/Hedwig fics are discovered. Owl fucking anon appear. Someone suggest a friendship between them and mlp guy.

Cursed ask history part 3:

The philanthropist appeared the same day #the cancel scale started. With their iconic "i am a shameless philanthropist and so my bookmarks are public. I eat dead doves for breakfast. Come on down to the buffet y'all! You want some wound fucking? 8-yr-old omega abortion? I got you fam, watch me scramble these eggs" they left a forever sign in this blog. Still to this days asks are written to know if they are good. They obtained a 12/10 in the cancel scale.

Wound fucking discourse started, also the same day, by CB answering "is that where the wound fucking comes in??" At a ask about vivisection and medical experimentation. Discourse about what classify as a wound and how it works continued trought the day.

Rpf bdsm is thought to have beat the philanthropist with their mix of rape, underage, incest in a foursome, huge age, rpf tentacles and, mostly, someone getting turned into a pickle and his partner fucking himself with it.

This also started a string of asks about people being transformed in object used for sex.

Rpf bdsm would appear again later that day to specify the pickle fic was a rpf.

Cursed ask history part 4 (i think? Already lost the count)

Mlp guy. The one and only. Always in the terrible 2 Jan 2021, they first appeared in the tags of an answer to a marvel ask. #Hey HEY mlp guy #u know who u r #i'm afraid to look at this ask #like yeah we saw some shit tonight but this blows that outta the fuckin WATER #y'all would dead ass have to pay me to post it

Someone noticed the tags and asked about it, and a strong sexual tension between everyone and the unpublished mlp ask started. Someone ended up paying, cause the ask was later published as last post of the day and terrorized every follower of the blog. It was published as screenshot of the ask, and is not even put in the #cancel scale.

MLP guy stayed so in the apex of the cursed asks for some months, till the Pokémon ask by soupy was published the 9th may 2021, taking home a 15/10. MLP guy made a Tumblr profile, @therealmlpguy, in retiliation, and reblogged answering with a new terribly cursed fic. CB have still not voted it, so who have the worst cursed ask is still in question.

The day of #cancel scale the blog fanficmemes lost many followers, but the story was, as we know, not finished.

Cursed ask history part 5

I like to stay an half cryptid of this blog, so i will not tell my blog of origin, but i can tell you I am Soupy. Also i need to know if i am actually considered a cryptic of the blog and if i need to make a lore post about myself XD.

This is starting to get hard cause i cannot reread what i already sent, but the end of the tunnel is near.

We already told about owl fucking anon in the cursed ask tag, but their story is a bit more longer. The cursed ask was actually their big return, and they are probably one of the most proficious lore making, having also a part in the creation of the PKD legend. They should really have their own tag.

How? Well.

The 17 Jan 2021, when the big part of the cancel scale was done and the elders of the lore created, they sent an anon ask about what the cancel scale made them remember. It was a fic, red when they were ten or eleven, about someone fucking an owl while the owl was on their period. Consensual, and apparently the authors were two teen girl who write only character x owl. Their mom proofread. CB answered with their profile picture, edited so that it red "i can't believe it's gotten even worse!" Instead of "i can't believe it's not canon".

This post created, if we want to say, PKD, cause their first ask, that assigned them piss kink, was yes about the color asks (that, in case someone does not remember, was CB asking what colors people assigned to them), but had as explanation "if you keep posting stuff like the owl period whatever". So the owl fucking anon indirectly created, the 22 Jan 2021, PKD.

Owl fucking anon continued their ascension to lore of the blog.

The 12th Feb 2021 sent an ask were they were surprised someone had found Hagrid x Hedwing fics, and than sent anther 9 parts ask about the story of how they red lot of cursed shits thanks to an old tumblr blog that had the links, and how from there they found an author who only published Hagrid x Hedwing, and how that introduced them to FF smut.

(it is also discovered they are only 15, baby, please, i am noone to talk with the shits i red at the time but i hope you are ok).

They are now consacrated in the memory of the blog.

Cursed ask history part 6

Before continuing with the history of the cursed asks, is now time to finally give a small talk about PKD. We know how they originated, but how they become so famous?

Probably is the fact they appeared so many time during the last months. Being it for cancel scale, cursed asks or just normal asks, they continue to give us company with their exploration of piss kink fic. Is true they soundly negate having the kink the first months, but after lot of memes and people speaking about it, the 25 Apr 2021 they finally admitted of having the kink,and discovered it reading an a/b/o Captain America fic.

I would suggest to read all the posts, but they stopped being tagged halfway through, so is half in the specific #chronicles of piss and half in the #cursed ask

Cursed ask history part 7

The big lore is finished, and now only the later history stay.

#cancel scale posts and #cursed asks post lived side by side for some days. The owl fucking one of the 12 Feb was actually the last cursed fic published in the cancel scale post, leaving the tag only for some history reference later.

#cursed asks saw the appearence of every type of cursed possible to thought, with scat and nipple fucking between the different tags. At the start there was no specific day chosen, but later, for CB schedule reasons, Saturday was assigned as cursed ask day, and some week later it was moved to Sunday.

And here we are, today, to see what other cursed things we will bring in this world

Cursed fic History part 8

The cursed fic History have been covered, but i still think is important to talk about some of the before time tags that created the good ecosystem for the creation of #cursed ask.

The most famous is #the lube discussion.

It started the 23 Aug 2020, when CB wrote a post about FF using the word "supple" in smut without the thing being actually supple. In the tag, they added #also #that does Not work as lube.

Some anon asked what was being used as lube, that was answered with "one was peanut butter. I will not discuss the other". This started the bug lube discussion, were everyone talked about what they continingly see used as lube when it cannot be used as lube.

Between the classics soap and blood, we see some more daring one as mud, yogurt, aloe vera, years, milk, hot sauce and the more intersting, cannoli (have no idea if they are talking about the cream you put in cannoli or some american thing i don't know).

Nothing reached cursed material, but it put the first seed for the blog.

Hi is the Omar-Edvin PR anon. Please know this not an attack and I want and adore Omar- Edvin friendship to exist as much as the next person but I also think we need to be critical of it is potrayed too. I agree they seem to care about each other and genuinely like each other, no denying that. However, after they realised how much us fans love it, I am left to question their each interaction as something genuine or done to pander to the fans (to certain extent) because they know we love it. Especially now since they have blown up and have a second season - they NEED to show they have a good rapport because it sells the show too.

As for the Hillershka Choir thing, I feel Netflix placed Edvin specifically seperate from rest of the cast members ( you can see in the video they are all on sidelines as Omar walks in and does his little wave) before his performance that they could capture the iconic hug as promo material. Very tiny example of how such things are orchestrated for consumption.

For them being friends with each others friends. Well, Joel ( Omar's best friend) knew Edvin from before. They have liked and commented on each others posts from 2018 and I think Wilma ( Edvin's best friend) was already friends with Hugo ( another of Omar's friends) so it would be easy mix if you have a few common friends. As well Felicia who was on YR too.

They do seem to have chemistry but that wouldn't depend on their offscreen relationship. Sara (IC) talked about how easy it is if co stars have chemistry but she emphasis that as professionals their job is make it happen on screen if it doesn't exist. We do know a lot of examples of actors who had great onscreen chemistry but didn't really like each other that well off screen.

Anyway, we can speculate only the both of them know the truth and I hope they are good friends and remain so cause their interactions are comforting and make me happy. But I also want to make sure, that we as Fandom don't demand it ( as Twitter/insta stans do) so much so that they have to pander or put every time they are together because I feel their friendship will not remain authentic or have space to grow deeper if the Fandom attitude continues.

i don't think we need to question every interaction though - even if they've been told to play it up for pr, that doesn't necessarily mean the interaction is not genuine? i mean it's not like netflix told edvin hey find an art piece that looks like omar at the art gallery in berlin and take a picture? they still don't tell them exactly what to post or say you know. because they are close friends, their interactions can still be genuine even if encouraged for pr.

oh 100%, i agree with you about the Hillerska choir thing. I mean that was obviously professionally filmed for the audience. ok im gonna embarrass myself here and say i didn't even notice the other cast members even though i've watched that performance multiple times. i do still think edvin was very genuinely excited about the performance though. also omar has shared his unreleased songs with edvin :')

oh thats so random how edvin knew joel from before and wilma knew hugo? do you have any more info about that? from what i knew i thought they didn't really have common circles, yk since omar was always in the music world and edvin in the acting world? I don't think that edvin and joel were close though - otherwise edvin and omar would've known each other before YR?

alsoooo there is nurbo and edvin - they both comment on each other's posts - what benefit for PR is it for omar's random friend (srry nurbo 😅) to comment on edvin's photos?

i get your POV on chemistry, but i still think that their chemistry is part of what made wilhelm x simon's chemistry come across so special. like Sara said - they can still make it happen on screen, but i don't think it would have been as special. i feel the same way about kurt and blaine on glee - they wouldn't have come across so well if chris colfer and darren criss didn't have wonderful chemistry together.

i love your last point so much! i think as a fandom, as much as we enjoy and love their friendship, we shouldn't put pressure and expectations on it, or idealise it too much. people are always talking about how it's not right to ship them because it could ruin their friendship, but we don't seem to realise that being overly involved in their platonic relationship could also potentially be harmful...

Ok hi sea im new here. I’ve been stalking yr blog for like 3 months.Wei hei to staying up till 3 even though I’ve got exams every week💜. Anygays I became a fan sadly because of some random ass larry post I saw. I just taught they looked cute and have more chemistry than actual couples I’ve seen so I googled it, read some fics, streamed one direction, and cried because I was only 13ish when zayn said 👋🏼and I never got to experience the chaos of wandee :( But once I started actually watching interviews and after I let go of my Larry shipper infactuation, I fell in love with Louis and then I stumbled upon Larry blogs 🤮since I already knew one because of fan fiction. But truth be told, I got the absolute worst vibes from harrat since way before I gave a shit about any of this, so your blog pulled me out of the Larry headspace and back into reality once and for all. I also sadly read the bad walls reviews before truly listening to the album but for wherever reason bc of your master posts I grew to absolutely love Louis’ music. He’s just such a boy wonder I luv him very much and hopefully I can be a part of the solo Louis mess here because there’s truly no other fandom like this one. I mean I tried being a harrie and lasted 4 days bc they’re horrible, and like I said, I don’t care for cash cow styles, even if I think he’s definitely a talented artist and understands sound/lyricism very well. But maybe that’s just the producer? Idk. Credit given where credit is due, but enough about mr deadeyes I’m happy you made me a solo louie-with a sprinkle of zayn-💜. Even if being a Louis who goes on Twitter is NOT a fun experience at all.

Yeah - same- I really didn’t understand or know Zayn until after he left the band, and then the Zouis feud happened on Twitter and the atmosphere was not great, also strange. How did two close friends type those hurtful words? Through the last 5 years, I’ve had long chats with Zayn’s fans and of course Louies, and found out lots more information that Larries never mention.

“Boy wonder” is a good description for Louis; he is a walking dynamo, a very clever man, a hard worker who takes nothing for granted.

Honestly, I wouldn’t last in the Harrie fandom for twelve hours. My experience with Harries have been 90% bad.

i love reading these types of tweets, just people talking about the character in canon, analysing what furudate was trying to depict when he wrote these characters. also the phrase “monsters can only thrive among monsters” ???? fuckjng love that, so much to unpack tbh.

idk i just rlly want to see these characters thru the eyes of the author. it’s hard for us readers when 1) we don’t know the thought processes behind the making of each character, and 2) many characters we only see on the volleyball court. but people act differently in different situations. i know it’s a pipe dream but i always hope for more canon haikyuu content outside of volleyball, just regular slice of life content, just teens being teens (i know haikyuu-buu exists but it’s not confirmed to be canon so 💀)

Which you know what is interesting is the way each can be laid out for each characters struggle with loneliness and how Sakusa’s is clearly the easiest to identify and yet people chastise him almost the most (Have y’all ever met only children? They can be a little weird and I’m married to one ok so I get it) But ironically Bokuto is one I never thought about (though I’ve thought in depth over Akaashi’s bc he latches to the 3rd yrs and then gets physically left alone)

Bokuto’s loneliness is weird bc of course when Furudate let out who has siblings (which I got way too nerdy about that bc the family dynamics were real obvious after Furudate gave us siblings to characters) Bokuto is the youngest among three and anyone who’s ever had/known three kids is the baby is almost always the golden child in some way. On purpose or not. Like how much older are the sisters? Are they close? Did they baby Bokuto and that’s why he’s so focused on the team? (bc he needs someone to not really “take care” of him but at least guide his emotions at least) We see Oikawa’s sister is obviously old enough for him to have nephew that old so clearly they weren’t raised too much together (age gap) But Bokuto being the baby among two older siblings (female) in an Asian family really would speak to his need for attention bc he’s 1. The baby and 2. The only male child. Not faulting Bokuto at all bc like, he could really be a dick but he’s not. Which makes me feel like the sisters are closer in age bc if you’ve ever had siblings you know your ego gets to be in check no matter what. Bokuto’s loneliness is just something fun to pick apart bc it’s not exactly loneliness (or at least I don’t see it that way) like out of all of them he’s def seeking validation more than anything it feels like. Anyways- Sorry I’m rambling I like character analysis way too much XD

But god yes the lack of content outside the volleyball realm drives me crazy. Especially post high school in that short 5 year span before MSBY v Schweiden. Which this is my total bias talking but I constantly want to know when and how it happened that Kageyama just, mellowed out. He’s reintroduced not even really with a scowl. Totally unphased by the dumbshit Hoshiumi does, he’s surrounded by little kids (which I still wanna know when kids started to like him bc he’s the only one seen with a lot of younger fans repeatedly) and he smiles like a lot. Growth from the MSBY team always circles back (for me at least) for the four of them being together and growing like that. But Schweiden doesn’t have that substitute brother feel? I mean I think Kageyama and Ushijima get along real well (simpletons) but what about the other teammates? (Hoshiumi still has feral vibes that never leave I love him for that) But Kageyama was with them graduation on basically so who helped him mellow out? Who had such an impact on him that Kageyama kinda relaxed back into his interested, wide eyed and calm middle schooler self who was just enjoying playing volleyball. Like, Furudate??? You can’t just give me my man vibing being sweet and dealing with Hoshiumi’s bullshit and not tell me when it happened?? Was it personal life growth?? Was it the team?? FuruDATE GIVE ME ANSWERS

No one ever really points this out (or at least I haven’t seen it) but the two panels we get of Suna timeskip he’s smiling. I don’t know why but I just feel like that speaks to his character a lot. That he’s actually really a happy individual he just hated high school. He was in the lowest academic class, he loved volleyball but hated any variation of the twins and Kita and he was good at what he did but never really shined over having to deal with everything else. Which I mean he’s def not a spotlight kinda guy but even when they’re watching past games for prep Ukai has to point out Suna is the main point getted for Inarizaki (bc everyone is focused on the twins) I dont know...I just kinda find Suna interesting bc he’s seen as almost mean but timeskip Suna is smiling, chatty with Komori and good enough to be in the top leagues. He always struck me as one of those kids who hated school but was incredibly smart. Which is why I probably liked canon Suna a lot quicker than whatever the fuck the fandom depicts him as. (not to mention the being the older sibling so anyone who’s older knows you tend to be the emotionally calm one to not stir the pot and keep things calm at home which would really explain Suna’s deadpan look a lot just from personal experience as the eldest child)

BNHA Chapter 302 Spoiler Thoughts: Y’all Need Therapy

Part 2 of the story that started last chapter and THINGS GOT WORSE!!! I’m crying through the pain. There’s a lot going on in this one. Lots of guilt, lots of abuse, lots of crying, but thankfully some gleam of hope at the end. A broken family can heal. This is a step in the right direction. Though, I’m already seeing the BNHA fandom going up in flames because everyone’s playing the blame game. I hope I don’t end up accidentally stepping on that landmine after posting this. Here we go (thoughts are based off summary translations by @redandblonde420 on Twitter and panel images are from @BKIS2327 on Twitter!):

(OP Note: Please don’t DM me with your complaints about my opinions on the Todoroki Family matter. It’s bad enough that this storyline has people getting pissed off at each other for taking different sides. The last thing the BNHA fandom needs is more conflict amongst ourselves.)

Chapter 302 picks up where we last left off. Enji and Rei managed to stop Touya from attacking Shoto (it’s not explained how) and the whole family except from them are asleep. Enji tells Rei that he doesn’t want any of the kids anywhere near Shoto anymore in fear that they would try to harm him. Enji also fired a servant because he was so busy at work and he asks Rei to not let Touya out of her sight. The other reason why Enji won’t watch over Touya himself is because Enji’s presence would only be a constant reminder of the hero world to Touya. While Enji thinks he’s protecting Touya, Rei says he’s just running away. A few things here:

1. I get not wanting Touya anywhere near baby Shoto since he did try to kill the tyke. Touya was pretty much bent on his hatred for his little brother at that point that even seeing him stroked his dangerous jealousy. But, I don’t know about Fuyumi and Natsuo. Neither of them showed any hatred towards Shoto (and still haven’t as far as we know). They’ve shown no signs of violence or anything that would imply wanting to hurt Shoto. So, why keep them away too?

2. This is probably going to be the start of me getting shit on by the fandom, but I think Enji and Rei are both right. We saw in the last chapter that Enji did legitimately care for Touya to the point where he tried to convince him to leave his ambitions of being a hero primarily so that he would stop hurting himself. Just Endeavor being there is a reminder of the hero world. Which would only provoke Touya more. And Endeavor can’t just leave his job; he was the #2 after all. At the same time, Enji is running away from the problem by not trying to talk to Touya more and helping him to control his flames at least. He was trying to save Touya from himself, but he was also ignoring the real problem.

3. Side note (and because I just 💙 Shoto), the manga panels show baby Shoto sleeping on his little bed with a frosty snot bubble coming out of his nose 🥺! Not only is it adorable, but it seems like Shoto had his quirk since he was very young.

Time skip 5 years later! This is back when Shoto was being dragged along by Enji while watching his siblings play ball WAY back in Shoto’s Origin chapter what a throwback, Horikoshi (Season 2 Ep. 10 in the anime; I think Chapter 39 in the manga)! Fuyumi is 12 yrs old, Natsuo is 8 yrs old, and Touya is 13 yrs old. So, that confirms that Touya is 1 year older than Fuyumi, Natsuo is 4 years younger than Fuyumi, and Shoto is 3 years younger than Natsuo since Shoto was 5 then. God, they looked so cute back then! I’m honestly amazed how freaking TALL Natsuo is at 8 YEARS OLD! He’s taller than Fuyumi here and probably Touya. Someone put this kid in the Haikyuu!! universe and teach him volleyball! He’d be great, I know it!

We see a few panels of what is basically a remastered version of what we saw during Shoto’s Origin story. Shoto really wanted to play ball with his siblings, but Enji wouldn’t let him 😭. I know Natsuo and Shoto try to play ball in present day in the 5th(?) light novel. Natsuo plays it properly, but Shoto accidentally smacks the shit out of it 🤣. It’s a very bittersweet scene and I suggest you guys read the translations of it if you can find it. *AHEM* Anyway while Shoto is looking at them with sadness, Touya is looking back at Shoto with malice in his eyes. Touya clearly still hated Shoto...

Next, we see Touya trying to talk to Natsuo in bed. While he admits that he was wrong for trying to attack Shoto, he thinks Enji is to blame as well. Ok, Enji lit Touya’s figurative flame, but Enji did not attack Shoto. That was all Touya’s doing. Had he listened to his father and not been so driven to jealousy, he wouldn’t have attacked. Enji did a lot of things, but he did not provoke that attack.

Natsuo was too tired to listen to Touya talk, so he suggested that he talk to Fuyumi instead. Touya thought that Natsuo was the only one who could understand and he didn’t talk to Fuyumi because “all the women in the family were no good”. OKAY, I don’t know if this is straight up sexism or something else, but goddamn Touya. That is-, that’s not okay. At all. Respect women pls, my dude. Hell, Fuyumi and Rei probably would’ve been a good people to talk to back then.

One day, Touya is trying to leave the house probably to go train again. Rei tries to convince him to play with his friends instead, but of course Touya refuses. Because Rei feels shackled to her marriage, she wants Touya to look at a world outside of heroism so he can be someone he really wants to be. This is basically what Enji told Touya before and Rei’s echoing his words. And they are right, but Touya’s too driven to really think of anything else.

Touya gets mad and starts insulting Rei. He says because his mother sold Rei to Enji, she’s conspiring to all of this. Touya’s losing his mind and Rei’s scared of him. I want to point out that one translation I read say that Rei’s mother’s side of the family was actually poor so Rei was actually bought via money like I remembered. But, that doesn’t mean she intended to hurt Touya.

Next panel reveals that Touya was born between Jan. 1st and April. 1st. We know Dabi’s B-Day is on Jan. 18th based off his profile page. Though, this could be a lie for all we know. The guy’s still a big mystery. Anyway, Touya’s fire is growing stronger and finally turns into that iconic blue fire. When his emotions are heightened his flames get more powerful, but he starts crying too. Enji learns of Touya’s secret training and gets mad at him again. Touya just wants to prove that Enji was right for creating him. Touya’s gone completely insane at this point. The fire that Enji lit could not be put out. It was too late at this point.

And the abuse... JFC... Enji was mad at Rei for letting Touya train and he abuses her (looks like he hit her). Little 5 yr old Shoto steps up and tries to stop his father from hurting his mother. Fuyumi and Natsuo are hiding and crying, and Fuyumi is covering both their ears. Rei reflects that she chose to be married to Enji and she truly thought she could have a family full of laughter. Th-this just hurts. No emoji can express how awful this situation is. Enji looks like a monster in these panels (we still don’t know exactly when the abuse started, but I think it was either after Touya tried to kill Shoto or here when Rei failed to stop Touya from training). Shoto’s crying and yelling at Enji to protect his mom. His siblings too if you think about it. Even back then, Shoto was a hero even when he really shouldn’t had been.

The present goes back and forth with the past here. Touya waited for Enji to come see him train, but he never came. Rei also ignored Touya even though she knew of his problems. Touya was truly alone on that mountain. And here’s where Rei’s blame comes in. She was a good mother, I think. But she did ignore Touya when he needed her most. She kind of ran away too.

Back to Dabi, he reminisces of how he faked his own “death” back on that mountain after Enji didn’t show up. He didn’t know how to stop the fire because Enji only taught him to increase the fire. Touya started a whole wildfire. The whole place turned to ash. Enji tried looking for his son, but was devastated when he couldn’t. Gotta say, these panels are brutal. Like, Tenko Shimura’s Origin chapters were dark, but this is a different kind of dark.

Back to the present. Enji says that after Touya “died” he didn’t know what to do other than to focus on Shoto (the panel shows a dark figure of Enji looming over a sad Shoto similar to that image of Overhaul looming over Eri because she wasn’t saved yet). Rei got more disgusted just seeing Enji and she started seeing his shadow when she saw her kids, specifically Shoto and Natsuo (maybe because Natsuo is more built like Enji?). Fuyumi and Natsuo blame themselves for not doing anything and thinking things were okay even though they knew what was going on. Natsuo still blames Enji of course because Enji started this all. And I can’t say that Natsuo’s wrong, but Enji doesn’t shoulder the whole blame. And yeah, Fuyumi and Natsuo were still just kids when this happened, but a little extra push from them could’ve helped. It’s just the “It’s my fault” game with the Todoroki’s except for Shoto.

Natsuo’s taking a big hit here. He was closest to Touya and if Natsuo took more action to help Touya, Dabi probably wouldn’t have been born. Touya could’ve even treated Shoto to some soba 😭. That’s a nice thought, Natsu, but we all know what did happen in the end.

So, Rei concludes that everyone is shouldering some blame towards their family’s problems and that it isn’t completely Enji’s fault (this I agree with). Even so, Rei says that his family would still help him get back up even if he fell. Coming from Rei, the woman who was abused and put in a mental hospital, this is saying A LOT! We saw some of this back in the Pro Heroes arc (Endeavor Vs. High End), but here it’s said out loud. Even a family as broken as the Todorokis can still heal.

Rei then calls Shoto the family hero as if it weren’t for him going to UA, making friends, and taking action to repair his family, then none of this would’ve happened. There’s a page that shows present day injured Shoto at the center and that iconic “IT’S YOUR QUIRK, NOT HIS” scene from the Sports Fest. in the background. TDDK or not, this is such a damn good throwback! I love everything about it. Again, Shoto’s the family hero, but Izuku’s the true hero in all this. If he didn’t meddle with Shoto’s family problems, then Shoto and his family would still be a broken mess. Izuku might as well be an honorary Todoroki at this point 💙💚

Endeavor is still crying hard (the man’s literally shook) and Shoto finally speaks (his speech bubbles are shakey, so his voice might be raspier than usual). Shoto talked with Rei about how he plans to face Dabi on his own. Rei said “no”. Shoto concludes that everyone’s going to help stop Dabi, including Enji. The panel shows Shoto LITERALLY REACHING OUT to Enji!!! His face shows that he’s still kind of reluctant, but this is a sign that Shoto’s is close to forgiveness. He’s not there yet and he can turn back whenever he wants. But, this is Shoto’s choice and I’m so freaking proud of him. I love this ❄️🔥 boy so much, guys 💙😭!

The final panel shows Haws and Best Jeanist outside of Enji’s hospital room and they heard pretty much everything. Very similar to how Bakugo accidentally eavesdropped on Shoto and Izuku back in the Sports Fest haha! Neither of them look mad or sad, but more contempt I think. Massive problems in the Todoroki family that’s lasted over 20 years is finally being fixed. Shoto rebuilding his relationship with his family was good, but THIS is a big step since it’s not just Shoto taking action. It’s the whole family.

Wooo... I think that’s it. Again, the Todoroki Family storyline is one of my favorites in the BNHA series. Probably the most controversial and dividing, but still damn good. I feel bad for everyone in this family. Everyone but Shoto feels some kind of blame and ultimately they are at fault here to some degree. The biggest ones are obviously Enji and Touya himself. Rei’s also a big reason why things went wrong (she really could’ve helped Touya more), but not NEARLY as much as the big two. Shoto’s the only one who isn’t at fault at all yet he’s still willing to step up to the plate to help his family. Again, I love this kid so damn much 💙! I’m sorry if I missed any details btw. I might make edits to fix them when the official release comes out on Sunday.

" Hope is a dangeous thing" Michael Guerin's words of wisdom! He said it to Max and said it to Maria! But I really hope every single MALEX fan took it to heart cause it was really meant for US!

I dont care what people say in this fandom anymore. "I dont want to hear spoilers" " no spoilers" " you should tag your shit as a spoiler" NO IM NOT GOING TO! Ya know why?? Because Carina herself wouldnt have shown her shit if she didnt want SPOILERS OUT!! DUHH! And Im ranting because Im sick of the headgames with this show..it ridiculous..no wonder why people in this fandom are dropping like flies.

And Im sick and tired of the back and forth between M/M and M/A. Im sick of the headgames with the showrunner as well! One day its " Oh its Maria..shes his light" and whatever else is spewed. And the next its " Ohh Michael and Alex there journey is from darkness to light" and whatever other bullshit is spewed. Cause in reality its all Bullshit to keep Malex fans and Miluca fans to keep watching and fighting. If you ever cared to look at the ratings for season 1 they were abysmal. Only the first 2 episodes got over a million viewers. Which is horrible..but in full disclosure Theres only 1 CW show that has really any kind of following ( and hint hint its not Supernatural..That shows ratings are going down faster then a hooker on payday). Believe me I did the research. I dont understand why they are putting it after a tanking show if they want more viewers ( No disrespect to Supernatural, my daughter and husband love this show). But I digress..

The show runners know where there bread is buttered on this show and it is with MALEX fans. It even overshadows the Liz/Max shippers and Definitely over shadows Michael and Maria. Hell Vlamis and Tyler realized it pretty quickly..Vlamis made a sold out Merch line because of it. And they are the captains of this ship because they see the potential of how big it can be. Hell even the CW pr team figured it out! Thats why in the trailer we saw Malex and no Miluca?? Its not rocket science to figure this out!

So why now are the showrunners literally shitting on the LGBTQ+ community by taking away the only couple that represent that population on that show?? Then placating the community with "ooh Alex gets a new love interest" and the obscure and downright awkward " oh someone who Identified as straight in the beginning of the season will not be at the end". What a FUCKING FARCE! Like really?? As a community are we that desperate or obtuse?? Did nobody roll there eyes at this bullshit? Or am I the only one? We have a perfectly "cosmic" gay ship in front of us! Yes with baggage..no denying that..but thats the drama of TV I get it.

The reason is because the showrunners have no plans to make Malex anymore. There I said it and I SAW IT FIRSTHAND! In 2x01 Michael told Alex straight up they "were done" it was pretty cut and dry and lasted all of 2 mins...good to know Malex fans get two mins of heartbreak..that should tell you something. While Michael and Maria had 3 scenes..maybe more together. Granted they were not together at the end of 2x01 but According to Heather they will be trying to " ignite the spark between them" for the entire season. And that they're love is " exciting and blah blah blah".. No one gives a shit. Least of all me. But you can clearly see thats where its headed.

Also in season 1 there were some big hints too that I myself overlooked but they were glaring but subtle like the Max/Cam love scene intertwined with the Michael/Alex scene and the song playing in the background..that was telling... You dont see Max and Cam together. Or 1x12 prison scene " Cant love me" playing in the background and the words Michael spit at Alex..I dont think they were complete lies. Michael felt them on some lvl. And Alex's own words " Sometimes the world ends with a wimper, Guerin".. Those were all meant for Malex shippers as well.

And what about this "see if we can " be friends" or " we didn't even know each other" bullshit! I hate those lines..Like really?? Michael moved back to Roswell when he was 11..which meant that they went to school and living in a small town grew up together. At least for 7 or so yrs. They must have knew each other just for the simple fact of the Liz/Max dynamic..I grew up in many a small town i know this dynamic well. EVERYONE LITERALLY KNOWS EVERYONE! Maybe they didn't really hook up till the end of senior year. But they knew each other and I can almost bet that Alex admired Michael's protectiveness and Michael admired Alex's strength. And they also must have known about each others abusive pasts to a point..logic dictates that. And relationships have been built and survived on less.And if the showrunners wanted to make them " friends" for a time I could even tolerate it..tolerate being the operative word.

But no Michael's gonna "light the spark" with Maria..because in reality thats what the showrunners want. They dont give a shit about Malex working through their shit like logic adults would. And that's fine It just frustrates me that I was sold a lie..and every Malex shipper was too. Wake up fellow shippers and see it too. Or dont..Lies are comfortable like a warm blanket on a cold night. Everyone has some delusion they cling to..much like hope.

My last frustration with the ending of this ship will be that it is laid solely at Alex's feet. "He kept walking away", " He abandoned Michael for 10 yrs", "He left him behind", "I love him, I probably always will..but hes tied to all these horrible memories in my life. All the things his family did to mine. Coming back to him always feels like a crash landing" or the newest and deepest when Alex was giving him the file from Caulfield " Manes men did this to her".. Its always going to be Alex's fault. I wonder if Tyler knew the full extent of the way Alex was gonna be shit on. I dont think Tyler being openly queer himself would be ok with that kind of representation of the Gay community. Its pretty jarring... Honestly I can almost guarantee they probably " promised" him a more normal gay relationship with this new " character" Forrest. Whatever the case may be its still bullshit. Michael seems to hold no responsibility to it.

And Michael will still get the girl and be in his hetero relationship with Maria..because Im asking the question..is he really bi? Evidence in the show doesn't specifically back that up. The only man we see him with is Alex..I havent heard or seen him with other men. Even Michael himself said "Its just him..screws me up".. So maybe "Pan" is a better description?

So RIP Malex! It was good while it lasted.."cosmic" even..but the showrunners killed you off before you even got the opportunity to take flight! ( This is a rant about the showrunners and writers for the fake promise of Malex. I seriously have no issue with Maria or the actress per se...and if the showrunners wanted M/M they should have just started in Season 1 with them).

TeeVee Podcast’s Voltron s8 review

I’ve been waiting eagerly for TeeVee’s review of s8. If you recall, their s7 review was what gave us the man getting choked up about Shiro’s relationship.

The link to the podcast is here but if you’d prefer a sort of transcript, here are some of the highlights for me. I didn’t always catch who was speaking but I wrote down initials where I could. S=Shanon, A=Antony, M=Moises, C=Chip D=Dan. The panel is divided on their feelings on the season. 2 of them seem to have hated it, one liked it, one thought it was fine, and one feels mixed about it. Anyway here we go, some great quotes ahead.

S: "After 7 seasons of a show that was going to be one of the animated series of the decade, they not only did not stick the landing, they fell on their butts, rolled off the mat, off the lines, into the judge's table and their leotard popped open"

"A lot of the plot was callbacks to things from seasons ago that we really probably didn't need to see again." "I wasn't entirely sure that they weren't gaslighting me."

Man Shannon is calling out some great points. She's calling out the dropped druid plot thread, and wondering what the point was of showing Lotor's past when he's dead, and nothing can change in his present and his redemption can't really happen.

A: "endings are hard. I was disappointed with this season [...] it was let down by poor plotting and that final battle made me throw my hands up in despair most of the time. But I have enormous sympathy for the EPs. Maintaining a longform episodic story is hard. And to pull off an ending that satisfies even MOST of the audience is harder yet. and let's not forget they were always upfront that vt always had 'editorial interference' from up top. Toys, the fact that it's aimed at children, corp resistance to some of the more modern social issues that they've tried to tackle. THAT SAID, we don't know what happened on this production, who had the final say, what they argued over. and I say this cuz a lot of the fandom drama over it assumes a LOT over how media and entertainment like this is made that simple ARE. NOT. TRUE. Some of the stuff I've read has been ABSURDLY offbase, like that there were different writers rather than just 1 the whole way through which ignores how TV is made. And if you think these writers just go off and write a script without talking to anyone first and then they come back with something that must be filmed without any changes, THAT'S NOT HOW ANY OF THIS WORKS. [..]we don't know who made these decisions. The studio isn't always the bad guy. Sometimes they rescue things that would otherwise have been a horrible mess. And unless you were IN THE ROOM, you don't know, and neither do any of us. So let's all bear that in mind. [...]You can't lay the blame OR credit on any one person. For any of this."

They're laughing & making so much fun of the final 3 episodes and how baffling they were.

"Don't even get me started on Voltron merging with Atlas [and the crew disappearing] that was a bad, bad idea."

"But that was the ONE time Shiro was back with the team!"

a couple dudes are relatively ok with the Allura death because we've never seen a WOC heroically sacrifice herself for the universe and usually it's the Shiro hero character D: They also point out that technically she wasn't fridged so.. yay?

Antony and Shannon vehemently disagree.

A: "My problem with that ending was more just that it was... not. good." he makes a comparison to RotJ where Vader still dies and it's his SON, who lives, who 'redeems' him. "This was none of those things. It felt like a terrible lesson. You can be so evil that you kill literally billions of people for 10k yrs but if you say sorry just before you're about to be executed it's alright, dw about it, we'll put the universe back to rights. NO, that's a terrible lesson!!"

S:"They had the LIONS. That's my problem. Throughout this series we've had stakes going up but there has always been a trading of ideas, what can we do, what can we figure out, up to the point where they wind up sacrificing the castle, but they go through steps before that 'is there anything else we can do’. And here, there's not even... she didn't even get to say goodbye to Coran! This is the one character, WOC, and she has sacrificed throughout this entire series. She lost her planet. She lost the last connection she had to her father in the AI. She kept LOSING things over and over to the point where she sacrifices her crown to help Shiro. and the thanks she gets is that she has to turn around and say nope I've got to away and fix all of this and apparently never see you all again. It really, REALLY REALLY bothered me. All of my friends who have CHILDREN who watch this show, universally the kids were upset and angry and tearful and HATED that outcome. This did not feel like a triumph. Having to lose Allura like that robbed any kind of triumph in the success of saving all the universes. And I think that's one of the reasons that this last part of the season sits so poorly with me. I feel like it should have ended in a triumphant way. even if it meant losing a couple of the team members or the lions. Of course that takes away the toy aspect which is why that's not an option. We already had several tragedy arcs in this series. Zarkon, Honerva, and Lotor had tragedy arcs. Why does Allura have to have one too? We've had enough."

Antony & Shanon KILLIN IT on this podcast y'all.

C: "This series relies so much on 'oh wait, there's a new upgrade', 'oh wait, there's this new thing'" A: "Well that was the entire final battle." C: "So there's this handwavy Allura has to sacrifice herself. The heavy lifting wasn't done to make this an earned moment."

S: "I do think, whether it was at the direction of DW or WEP (Vld IP), without those little epilogue cards, there is the potential opening that Allura might be able to return.[..]It was open to interpretation."

One guy likes the Shiro ending for the surprising progress aspect, even though he's not thrilled about how it was put together. also he isn't convinced the epilogue wasn't planned. He likes a lot of s8 but all the stuff he likes is tied to stuff that he really didn't like.

S:"The shiro card is the other reason that I think those things were shoved in. For me, that turns Shiro's entire character into a token when he wasn't before. When they introduced his sexuality, it was done BEAUTIFULLY. There was this conversation with his significant other a mature relationship that ran into its problems and therefore couldn't happen anymore. Adam could've been Adele, and nothing would have changed about that conversation. It was not the defining characteristic of Shiro. It was just something else about him."

S: "And then s8 happens and Shiro is divided from everybody on the team. There are so few interactions of any kind that aren't just barking orders. or making plans. Keith is the prime example. Their friendship had been a backbone of this series and suddenly they can't even stand more than feet 5ft from each other.

A: “It’s barely evident, yeah.”

M:”And the same with the rest of the main cast. And if they had set that up at the end of s7, that he’s going to go into the background a bit, it wouldn’t have felt as weird.

S: “And they didn’t! S7 was miraculous in the fact that even though he’s no longer in a lion, he’s still got a vital part to play in the series. And s8 erased that. It pretty much neutered him! And the kind of message is once you've revealed this character to be gay, we've gotta keep him out of the way. And if they had not put those end cards in, again the fact that he's a gay man is just the fact that he's a gay man and it's not any bigger or smaller aspect of his character, but they did not EARN him marrying random bridge crew member #3."

A: "and RETIRING! A man who LEFT adam because he felt he had to go and fight."

A: "He left the guy he loved before because of his devotion to"

S:"To fighting to making things right"

A:”To being a soldier and doing the right thing.”

C:”Isn’t the whole point then that he achieves that?”

M:”The fighting’s over and he can leave that behind and he can actually be happy.”

S: “He wouldn’t’ve. I don’t see it.”

M: “I violently disagree.”

C: “I think it was a nice endcap for his character."

Moises also likes this because it’s not a BYG scenario and he gets retired. Shannon is extremely exasperated by these takes.

S:”For me, it’s like Tangled. You go through Rapunzel and Flynn, going through their adventures, getting closer, getting to know each other, they save each other, things like that. And then she’s reunited with her parents and then we get and endcap that says ‘for political reasons her parents decided they needed to marry her off to the prince in the next county, sorry’. That would’ve had people RIOTING. Thats not how you do a story with characters that people care about. And to shove shiro off onto this random character that we--his name is never spoken!”

A:”No he had like 3 lines in the entire season.”

S:”He had 3 line sin the season, you don’t know his name unless you watched the subtitles, and in the audio narration for the visually impaired, they called him Adam in the endcap. They called him Adam! They fixed that now. It feels like a hugely clumsy attempt to grab the woke points for a character that didn’t need them.”

Moises then talks a little about Shiro and Keith and how he and Shannon both thought there was something there, and still do, but they can’t know what happened behind the scenes and to theorize on the intent of that relationship is “conspiracy theory land” and trying to decide what the writers were prevented from doing is like “reading tea leaves and chicken bones”. He references people extracting things from his own writing.

M: “As much as I wanted to see that relationship flower and flourish, the fact that it didn’t, look, it’s one of a million times that’s happened for me, with fiction, where things didnt turn out the way I wanted to see them.”

S:”I’m talking about 2 different things, as far as Shiro’s character, vs shipping issues. I feel Shiro’s character was done a disservice that if they were going to end him in a relationship with another man, they didn’t earn it by throwing that little endcap on.”

M:”Yeah, they could have brought back one less robeast or something.”

S:”The other thing is, I think there is enough out there as far as interviews with JDS and LM to show that at the very least I think they meant to leave it openended. Again if you take out that endcap, the last shot includes a shot of just Shiro and Keith, together, same screen, looking up as the lions go away, without saying anything further. I know I pie in the sky hoped that they were gonna kiss this season when we did our s7 recap and yes that was the shipper in me talking. I truly did not expect that they would be able to go that far. What I did not expect was for them to tear it down. And I feel like that’s what they did. Between the complete absence of interactions in s8, and then throwing that epilogue in there.”

Dan doesn’t understand how that could be because he sees no reason for them to do that. Shannon patiently explains about DW’s history with LGBT characters but Dan insists that the creators told the story the way they wanted to and he’s fine with Shiro getting a marriage even if it’s a character they don’t know.

Overall the panelists love the show still, and in most cases prefer to consider it in the realm of s1-6 with a weak final double season (7&8) or that the show ends after s7. They would all love to know how long the NDAs last, a making of perhaps, to know what the heck happened and what changed along the way. Big mood my dudes. Big mood.

hello everyone! i’ve had this tumblr for a pretty long time and my content has been kinda inconsistent (my most popular post, which has almost 11k notes, isn’t even my own original content) now i wanna do a proper introduction! i know a ton of people follow me for svtfoe but i’ve pretty much left the fandom because the last season is... questionable.

hooo boy that’s a tough question, fave eps....hmmm... ok so i love ‘a day in the death’ cause of it’s focus on owen and how he handles being dead and the depression and all of it. its a story about the worst moments and the hope you can find when you think there’s none left and has my fave quote of the series in it

you’ve got a choice...if you think that the darkness is too much then go for it. but if there’s a chance, just some hope...it could be having a cigarette, or that first sip of hot tea on a cold morning or it could be your mates. if there is even a tiny glimmer of light, then don’t you think that’s worth taking a chance?

this quote is on my wall and helped me in my own depression so this ep and owen have a very special place in my heart and always will.

i also like ‘out of the rain’ just cause of domestic janto and the team really getting a chance to show off how close they are, ‘fragments’ for obvious reasons, everybody’s backstory, and ‘the categories of life’ from miracle day. i know miracle day isn’t beloved by the fandom but i did like the idea behind it and some of the episodes where really well done.

Note: The wedding! Fluff, fluff everywhere! I love this fandom so much but sometimes we are just soooo angsty (ok, this fic started out as an angsty one-shot so I can’t really blame anyone). This is my fluffy gift to you guys. Happy holidays!

Sorry, I could not post it right on Christmas, I had a big writer’s block and didn’t know how to write the wedding. Who would’ve thought drinking 12 yr-old single malt Scottish whisky could cure it.

Chapter behind the cut

6 months later

Harry is woken up because the sun shines directly on his face. Damn, he thinks, forgot to close the curtain yesterday. Not that he had a mind to do it, he was too busy throwing his fiancé, technically husband, on the bed and getting his clothes off as fast as possible, fair to say curtains weren’t something his mind was concerning about. Merlin is still sleeping peacefully. Usually, the man beside him is the one to wake up earlier so he can work more. Must have tired him out, Harry grins.

Not wanting to get up just yet, he turns to Merlin’s sleeping form and holds him tight from behind, inhaling the scent of the man. This is the best feeling, lying close to the love of his life in a beautiful luxurious hotel room in the middle of nowhere with no one knowing them and worrying about nothing in the world. The view around is amazing too but Harry hasn’t been looking around at many things, too busy doing something else, well, someone, to be precise. They have a whole week here; tourist stuff can come later.

"G'morning, Harry.", Merlin murmurs, his voice still groggy.

"Good morning, my love.", Harry replies softly. He loves using that endearment. There was a time he could only say it in his dream. "Ready for the big day?"

"No, I need another ten hours of sleep.", Merlin turns to bury his face deeper into the soft pillow.

Harry drapes himself on top of the stubborn man and pouts. "Hamish, you can't sleep through your own wedding!", he whines, "Don't you want to marry me anymore?"

Harry can see Merlin smirking even with more than half his face hidden by the pillow and his eyes still closed. "I'm sorry, dear, but my boss is an arse that overworked me to the bones the last few months, both in and out of bed."

Harry pretends to be offended, he exclaims dramatically. "An arse? You are too hard on him, love! He only wants you to work diligently and earn your keep. I am sure you are his favourite. At least he is a beautiful arse, yes?"

Merlin's laughter is muffled by the pillow but his shaking shoulders give his mirth away. "You vain, vain man!", he says between laughs and turns around to look at the love of his life. "Why did I agree to marry you?"

"I'm sorry but you can't return or exchange this product, sir, no refund either."

"As if I would. Wouldn't have you any other way.", Merlin smiles and pulls Harry down for a kiss.

After a few minutes, the older man pulls back and asks, "So, the wedding is still on?". That question makes Merlin laugh again. "Yes, you daft man. Give me a few minutes to get up."

"Great! I wouldn't want to miss getting married at the place they shot a big part of Monty Python and the Holy Grail."

"Aye, that's nice and all but I am more excited to see the part they use for the Starks' Winterfell myself."

Both of them giggle like children. Sure, it is their wedding day and not many things are more important right now for them than that but being agents of Kingsman means that they don't have a lot of time for sightseeing, especially with each other. They jumped at the chance, figuratively speaking, of course, to hold the ceremony at Castle Doune. Not that they have a lot of guests but they need to have a place befitting the status of Kingsman's king and wizard. Also, it makes their inner geeks happy. Eggsy, Roxy and Martin fully supported the idea, in fact, they have taken over the organising job and insisted that their leader and handler only needed to show up on the day. The friends over at Statesman are also very excited to visit such an ancient place as well.

A little more than an hour later, after they are done washing up, Roxy and Eggsy storm into their room as if they are a conquering army, hell-bent on taking down a castle with no survivor and drag Merlin away to "get ready". Harry wonders why Merlin is their favourite when he and Martin are the kids' mentors but sometimes, one just doesn't question things too much, especially when he also has preparation to make.

The castle is huge, he can see it from afar as his car takes him closer and closer to it. The weather today is marvellous, too, one can clearly see the blue sky through a few wisps of white cloud. After they arrive and Harry steps out of the car, he has to pause and takes the whole magnificent scenery. The grand, ancient castle stands out against the green grass and the trees. Harry notices, however, that there is hardly anyone here. He knows that the place is usually brimming with tourists. He turns around to voice his question to Martin, the friend who helped him get ready and drove him here. Martin guffaws and asks him if he seriously thinks Kingsman hasn't hired the whole damn place for the whole week, tourists be damned. Well, one certainly can't claim that Kingsman isn't a bit melodramatic.

Harry looks around while walking slowly up to meet with Eggsy, his best man. He can think of so many things to comment about this place to Merlin when they finally have time to themselves to be tourists and smiles to himself. Eggsy is waiting for the two at the top of the stairs and waves as he sees them approaching. Martin hands Harry over to the younger agent, bids him good luck and goes off to prepare the rings.

Eggsy looks dapper in his black morning suits with an orange waistcoat. Bold colour combination but it works. Harry himself is also wearing black morning suits but with a light violet waistcoat and a boutonniere on his lapel. Eggsy gives off the air of a puppy, so excited that his body starts shaking. He walks with Harry up even more stairs while explaining to him what the process of the whole thing is. Apparently, he and Merlin will walk down the aisle at the same time, his protégé being his best man behind him and Roxy being Merlin's best woman. They won't get to see each other right up until the moment they have to stand before the door.

When there are only ten minutes left until they have to be there, the anxiety sets in. Harry can't even sit down next to Eggsy, choosing to walk around in a circle in the waiting room instead. Eggsy has to assure him that nothing wrong would happen, Merlin is not backing out and no one is dumb enough to attack a castle full of Kingsman and Stateman agents. Eggsy also assured that not only is the information on the wedding closely guarded but so is the castle.

Harry is thankful for the care and effort from Eggsy to the wedding and he says it, to which the younger man replies, "Bruv, other than my mum and Daisy, you and Merlin are the most important people in my life, I would walk through fire for you. I want you two to be happy, you deserve it."

Eggsy starts smiling cheekily and continues, "Although, I was not the only one responsible for this, you know? Love to take the credit but I can't. Roxy planned everything and the guests, I was her errand boy. Martin used his power and connections to get the castle to ourselves for the week. They were very against it at first but Martin just had to have his way. Whiskey set up and went through security details three times in the last month. The flowers, and I have to warn you, there are A LOT of flowers up there, came from Elton. All the booze is from Stateman, of course. Everyone had a hand in making this wedding because we all love you."

Harry feels himself tearing up. It won't do to be a blubbering mess before the wedding even starts but he can't help being touched by the love everyone has for him. He thinks back on all the dark thoughts he used to have about ending up a sad, lonely old man and feels fortunate that he would not end up that way. He walks forward and pulls Eggsy into a fierce hug.

Eggsy hugs him back for a few moments, then pats his back and says, "Well, Harry, it's time. Let's go get you married."

With every step they make, Harry feels himself getting closer to being hysteric. What will Merlin look like, what will everything look like, is some random alien race going to land directly on this castle and declare that they want to take over the earth. He knows he is being unreasonable right now but hell, he has been dreaming of this day for so long, it feels unreal and too real at the same time.

As they make it to the big door leading into the Great Hall, Harry sees Roxy first. She is looking very sharp, wearing a deep blue tuxedo with her hair done up. And then he sees Merlin and Fuck! The man looks good! If this isn't already their wedding, Harry would have suggested that they run off and elope immediately. His Scottish military regalia is absolutely beautiful. It accentuates his broad shoulder and slender waist perfectly. And that kilt! Harry will have to check later if he wears nothing beneath it as per tradition. His prosthetic legs make him look even more lethal in this get-up.

Roxy clears her throat and grins, "Sirs, may I interrupt your ogling session for a moment and suggest that we proceed to the actual ceremony? You have plenty of time for that later."

Both of them turn to her and nods, then take a deep breath and turn to face the door. Eggsy and Roxy push it open, revealing the Great Hall and the guests inside. The whole place is lavishly decorated with flowers everywhere and chairs covered in white cloths and golden ribbons. From here, Harry can spot and guess that every surviving members and staffs of Kingsman are here, along with some Statemen such as Champ, Whiskey and Tequila. Princess Tilde and Sir Elton John are here as well. Well, that's basically everyone they need.

Then, the music starts. With only a few opening notes of the piano, Harry knows exactly what song that is. He specifically requested it. From the look on Merlin's face, so does he. Roxy and Eggy gesture that they should start walking.

"Just to look in your eyes again

Just to lay in your arms

Just to be the first one always there for you

Just to live in your laughter

Just to sing in your heart

Just to be everyone of your dreams come true

Just to sit by your window

Just to touch in the night

Just to offer a prayer each day for you

Even though he chose this song from John Denver because he knew Merlin would love it, it is also everything he wants to say to him. The words ring out through the hall and into his heart and they make him emotional. As they reach where the officiant and Martin are standing, they turn to look at each other in the eye. Only then does Harry realise that Merlin has been crying, his eyes red. Roxy reaches out and gives him a handkerchief to clean his face.

The ceremony begins but Harry is too overwhelmed with emotions, as well as too busy looking at the love of his life to hear what the officiant has to say.

Soon, he hears, "Do you, Hamish Andrew Ferguson, take Harry Hart, as your lawful wedded husband?"

The sound "I do." coming out of Merlin's mouth might be the greatest thing he's ever heard, no song would ever compare to this.

Then, the officiant turns to him to asks the same thing. There can be only one answer: "Of course I fucking do."

Martin comes forward to hand them the rings and they put them on each other's hand. With that, the officiant declares that they are now married. As they kiss, the whole Great Hall erupts with cheers.

The wedding party is finally over and the guests are already on their ways. Harry and his newly-wedded husband, Merlin, are finally alone in front of their hotel room. He turns to the man in the kilt and asks with a pleading look on his face, "Hamish, please don't be upset or anything but there is something I really, really would love to do and I need your permission."

"What is it, Harry?"

"Can I carry you, bridal style over the threshold?"

Merlin sighs but he smiles, "Fine, just this once."

Harry's face lights up and he looks as happy as a child on Christmas Eve. He unlocks the door, grabs Merlin and picks him up to carry him into the room, closing the door on the way in with his foot. He then tenderly puts his husband down on the edge of the bed and kneels down in front of him, beaming.

Merlin smiles back genuinely, then bends down to kiss Harry's forehead. "Hello, beloved husband."

Harry pulls Merlin down for a passionate kiss that lasts until the need for oxygen becomes too much to bear. After that, both of them just sits there, grinning like idiots.

After a while, Merlin starts yawning and Harry declares that they both need sleep. Merlin reaches down to take his prosthetic legs off but Harry stops him. "Let me.", he says. As Harrys meticulously, tenderly tends to Merlin, he finds himself singing.

PS: So I have finally finished my first not-one-shot! I came across John Denver’s “For You” as I was looking for music for this fic and I have to say that the first time I heard it, I cried. Hope you guys enjoy it.
