olivia rodrigo is secretly regulily (aka how i think every one of her songs relates to lily evans and regulus black)

brutal - “i’m so sick of seventeen, where’s my fucking tonnage dream” you can’t tell me this isn’t regulus as a death eater. if choices was a tv show, i would play this song as his intro after the time jump and you can’t tell me it wouldn’t SLAP

traitor - i’m not a big fan of a jegulily cheating fic because i want them all to kiss eachother on the mouth in succession, but i have read some fics where lily and james are together but then he leaves to be with regulus, so i think this song could be from lily’s perspective in a situation like that. or vice versa!

drivers license - sounds like lily being betrayed by regulus joining the death eaters and the cult against people like her tbh

1 step forward, 3 steps back - i feel like this song would be what it would be like to date regulus black. i love him, but his partners would never know where he’s at in a relationship.

deja vu - again i feel like this could be about either regulus or lily being jealous or resentful of the other once they go and be in a relationship with james. i find them to be really similar characters in a lot of ways, so i think it suits it really well

wow what a fun ask.

okay i want to preface this by saying that i’m not really into poly ships, but im going to make an exception for this and try to be fair.

1. james/regulus/barty/evan: 5/10

i could this happening like one time as a fun anniversary gift for one of the couples, but i could never see the four of them in an actual relationship.

2. lily/barty/evan: 7/10

i like this to the extent that it is far superior to jegulily which is absolutely despise. i can see barty and evan as people who might have a looser definition of relationships and jealous than james or regulus so rosekiller with lily could be really fun. lily seems soft enough to dull some of their edges. plus the fanart is hot

3. narcissa/lily: 9/10

there is a lot of potential here, especially for angst purposes, but i think this ship would work best in like a bdsm fic/setting. like narcissa is older than lily and she’s definitely the most put together of all the malfoys so i could see her domming lily and i love that for them.

4. james/regulus/sirius/remus: 7/10

putting aside the incest for a second. i could see this happening like once or twice. however i think regulus and sirius are both extremely possessive and jealous people, remus and james too but not to the same extent, so i dont think they would like to share. however i think the possessiveness could be hot depending on how it’s used.

5. bellatrix/rita/mrs. zabini: 3/10

the thing about mrs. zabini is that i just don’t think she likes being tied down and i can’t see her enjoying it with two partners. i like quillkiller but mrs. zabini throws a wrench in things.

6. draco/dragon: 9/10

i have read all the fics with this tag, however i think charlie/dragon works better. but the best option imo is like draco/dragon animagus. so like a drarry fic where harry is a dragon animagus? that would be 10/10

7. james/barty: 3/10

i feel indifferent to this ship, but i don’t think it would work out. one of my closest friends irl is so barty core and i think a james person would piss her the fuck off, they would never work

8. lily/pandora/mary: 6/10

i think there is potential here for something soft and sweet but i would only read this ship if one of them was evil and out to hurt the other two.

9. mary/marlene/dorcas: 1/10

i just cannot see marlene with mary like at all. i actually don’t even think these two would be friends post hogwarts based on their personalities. i think they would seriously annoy each other

10. lucius/snape: 8/10

again so much angst potential. i’ve read this ship a few times, it used to pop a lot as a background ship so i would often see it, and i feel like it can work but there has to be discussions about power dynamics here for it to read well. i prefer snape with a non-magical oc personally

Okay, I had to come on here and say my piece. I'm a jegulus shipper/ a jily shipper/ jegulily all of that, and I love the Valkyries they slay. But I don't ship nobleflower personally, and I know that nobleflower and jegulus are very similar, I just love Frank and Alice too much and don't see narcissa and Alice together. I would read a fic with nobleflower but just not as the main ship. This is purely just my personal ship opinion, and we need to respect peoples opinions and not hate on them. But we can be annoyed if people don't like these ships just because they're girls, that is sexist and not okay, the girls should get as much recognition as the guys. Okay, that was all, anyways, BYE!!!

okay so my big big big passion project that will probably go on for years is into the dark. it’s a canon-divergent (aka jegulus lives and gets their happy ending) au spanning from regulus’ fourth year to the end of the second war. it’s split into four acts, and act one was about 300K, so i expect to be working on this guy for a while😭

and then DHSHAKSKFJG and though i burn, how could i fall? it’s my jegulus icarus x apollo au that focuses heavily on grief, music, and how those two intertwine, as well as deep-rooted devotion literally nothing can ever break. dedicated to none other than @ninety-two-bees the light of my life, as well as a friend of mine not on tumblr named aurora

gun in my lips is my the secret history au. it’s jegulily in the sense that jegulus are in a romantic relationship, lily and regulus are in a bdsm relationship (don’t get me wrong bdsm relationships can be within romantic relationships!! jegulus in this fic has one!! regulily themselves are only in a bdsm relationship though), and james and lily are queerplatonic. regulus is very henry winter in this

Three ships: oh dear, okay is this favourite ships? last ships read? just the first three that pop into my head? I haven't been reading a lot of HP fics recently, so my ships are all over the place at the moment. Recently it's been a lot of Xenk/Edgin from D&D: Honour Among Thieves, Astarion/Tav from Baldur's Gate 3, and Zuko/Katara from A:TLA. (I'm gonna cheat and also say Drarry, Jegulily, and Wolfstar for HP ships)

First ship: I don't think I remember what the first one I read was, but the first ship that really got its claws in me was Merthur. I hadn't been super into fanfic before that and I think someone I was following linked a fanart that was based on a fic, so I clicked on the link and I was lost forever lol

Last song: I opened spotify and it's telling me Curses by The Crane Wives, but really i had like 6 of their songs on loop for a few hours earlier today when I was doing D&D session prep

Last movie: uhhhhh I honestly can't remember. Probably something with my roommate? It might've been D&D:HAT actually, now that I think about it, we mostly watch shows/youtube not a lot of movies.

Currently reading: Does Mordenkainen Monsters of the Multiverse count? if so, that. if not I've got 19 BG3 fics open on my phone rn, but I haven't started any of them

Currently watching: My roommate's watching a Drawfee episode so I'm like half watching that as I answer this haha

Last thing I wrote: That would be chapter 1 of a sign in the midnight sky!

There is some thing I am curious about and I hope it is ok to ask you 🙏 I read Jily but I am not that involved in jily fandom to have the answer myself.

What do jily fans think about jilypad or in general any pairing that is a triad with them? Is James + Lily + x = agreeable for jily fans?

For example in prongsfoot or wolfstar fandom a lot of people don't like either Remus ( in case of prongsfoot) or James ( in case of wolfstar ) emotionally involved at all , and wolfstarbucks mostly only works in a sexual way for lots of fans to have hot smut. xD

Now, I am curious about Jily. I am writing a jilypad fic and I really want to know what jily fandom think about emotionally involving someone else as well as sexually. Someone like Sirius who makes sense there I mean, not an abstract triad like jegulily. 😭

The Jily fandom is decently sized, slightly fragmented, and of course everyone has their own opinions - so obviously there's no one single answer to this.

I must admit I haven't really seen other poly ships around the Jily fandom. When there's another love interest involved, it's usually triangles and antagonistic situations (and usually with OCs so that there's no emotional involvement to detract from the Jily of it all).

That said, at least in the corner of the fandom I usually interact with, Jilypad has been garnering interest lately. The Jily fandom holds huge appreciation for Sirius as a character and for the love between him and Jily, which leads to him being welcome as part of a triad with emotional involvement. Ideally, it all being about love and connection and support etc etc between all three parties. Stuff like cheating (on anyone), bashing (of anyone) don't go so well unless they are very short introductions to hot Jilypad smut where all ends well. Whereas I can imagine that angsty dilemmas but without morally questionable actions, that find a happy ending in Jilypad, would go over much better.

Overall, I'd say that if you were to choose a triad to pitch to Jily fans, Jilypad is your best shot. I can't imagine anything else, not even with Remus, going half as well. And I'd go so far as to add that the Jily fans would want their Jilypad to have Sirius emotionally involved and not just there for the hot smut.

what are ur thoughts on jegulily? i sometimes get tired of just jegulus or jily (haven't seen enough of regulily to get tired of it, alas 😭) bc i don't like the characterization in some of the fics but I've found that I really like some of the jegulily fics!

okay to be totally honest i am so burned out on james/regulus in any sort of configuration that jegulily is kind of an instant no for me, but that's just about me and my own intense ao3 ship tag emotions. i don't actually have a problem with the ship aghsldfjkd

i do feel like james and lily are both characters that are so easy to just.......... 'get wrong' sounds rude and prescriptive but it's the most concise way to say what i have in mind, which is that they're both idolized in the narrative (in a somewhat weird way for james bc of, u know, the bullying) and lily is often shunted into the Strong Female Character role in fandom, which makes it super easy for either or both of them to just be... super flat and two-dimensional. so my no on jegulily is subject to the same caveat as always, which is 'if it's done well and feels fresh and fleshed-out, then sure'

#it's always easy to create two-dimensional versions of characters #hp has a lot of characters where you can kind of rely on one or two personality traits #and people will look at it and go 'yeah that seems in character'#but james and lily in PARTICULAR fall prey to this because they have been dead the whole time #should i make an inbox tag

i just feel like if i ever go back to writing for the fandom, it will be for already posted fics mostly out of obligation. as of now i still have no interest in going back into the fandom and only mild interest in wrapping up opev :/

One thing I hate about Jily and Jegulus and Jegulily fics is that in every one of them, it’s James that ends up being iced out and ignored and belittled and just honestly treated like shit tbh. Like I get he’s the ‘stable’ one and the sunshine character but come on☹️ why does he always have to get pain in return for his love? Why doesn’t he ever get to have a break down and make them feel bad about how they’ve treated him? Why doesn’t he ever get to be not okay☹️ I just really want a fic where, for once, James doenst chase them. After so many years of being treated like shit, make him have those feelings that he isn’t going to keep chasing for people who obviously don’t want him. Have him give up and that is what makes Regulus and/or Lily realize what they’re loosing. Make James finally agree to a date from one of the many people I’m sure had a crush on him. Have him try and move on and it makes them realize what they’ve done. I’m so tired of James being a doormat for people to use as a way to boost the angst levels that Regulus and Lily have ffs. I’m so sick of it, as much as I hate Regulus or Lily hurting, I hate James hurting more because it’s always the first choice people make. James is never the one they want to spare and it just makes me upset 😭

Hahahaha I have so many HP ship names filtered. Remadora, Drarry, Jily, Jegulily, pretty much everything that even remotely annoys me or I hate. Also I have a LOT of fic names or initials filtered. Not going to put those out there, but yeah, if people are annoying about their fics or fics they like, those are getting blocked.

okay I love Peter Pettigrew so much this man deserves to be included in their group, like way too many fics are so lazy with his character. Give this man diologe give him hopes and dreams give him flaws and strengths I am begging you.

Don't worry Darlin' by Achlyss *please I am begging you all note the content warnings* this fic is also unfinished so idk what the end of Peters arc would be but be actually is part of them here I've never felt like he was pushed to the side and I appreciate that so much

Here we are, again by dykesiriusblack also has Peter being a real character albeit background but he's definitely there and there is effort put into his presence (this is literally one of my favourite wolfstar & Jegulus fics but again please read the content warning I would not recommend to minors)

Also Learning to Breathe (orphaned account) Peter does betray them but it's them really feeling that betrayal and expressing that they loved him so much and struggling to understand why he did it (also it's Jegulily but I am begging you give 2017 Jegulily a chance they're so good)

He has some iconic one liners in walking on sunshine by starryinthesky, it's a oneshot but it's one of my favourite one shots

And, I must mention it, Peter in don't blame me love made me crazy by coupe_de_foudre has this line in the very last paragraph of the fic that made me laugh so hard despite his small role in it (it is a Jegulus oneshot though so that's understandable)

Speaking of that fic I honestly think it's my favorite marauders fluff fic in the world like I do not talk about it enough I think of it every day at least
