Anonymous asked: I have a few questions as an aspiring writer and a current fanfic writer who publishes.

Okay! But if you write fan-fiction, you're already a writer! I'm guessing you mean an aspiring author? ♥

How would you help with distractions and writer's block? I try to dedicate myself to writing, but then I wander off to other stuff and my motivation wanes.

This is not uncommon and there can be a lot of different reasons for why it happens. Understanding the reason behind why it's happening is important for knowing how to fix it. I have a couple posts that will help with this:

How do you advise me outlining a huge original story plot with world-building in an organized way that isn't just scattered?

Outlining is really just any method that helps you get all the important pieces of the story out, in order, so that you can use it as a reference while writing. Some people use one big beginning to end summary. Some people like scene lists or timelines. Other people like scene cards or mind maps... Different things work for different people, so part of the work you need to do as a writer is figure out which method/methods work best for you.

I often find, though, that the struggle people have with outlining is less about what method to use and more about how to actually fill out the details, which brings me around to plot and story structure. All stories have structure. Fan-fiction is often short, character-driven fiction, which gives it a different structure from the average novel. That said, even if you're a prolific fan-fiction writer, you may still need to take some time to learn about plot and story structure. I'll link a few posts that will help, but once you understand story structure (all the specific plot points a story should go through), it becomes much easier to know how to outline it.

What advice would you give for writing fictional religions and mythology?

First and foremost, it's important to understand the role religion and mythology play in your story... how do they feed into your characters' beliefs? How do they influence your characters' actions and behavior? How do they guide the forces of power in your story's world? How do they impact the story's conflict/s and plot? Ultimately, you don't want to put a lot of time into creating and fleshing out a religion or mythology that's ultimately unimportant to the story. It helps to focus most on the aspects that truly matter.

Also, you might consider using real world mythology and religions as inspiration... just be careful about cultural appropriation. It's best not to use anything that belongs to an active culture or religion unless it's yours, or unless you do intense research and consult with sensitivity readers to make sure you don't do anything harmful.

And lastly, what sources do you recommend to accurately describe buildings (especially castles and manors) battlefields, geographical locations especially when it comes to mountains and rivers, etc), dresses and clothing especially if it isn't modern, and fighting techniques that are believable (for example, how a smaller woman would fight a larger man without being unrealistic)?

1 - Find Inspiration Sources - No matter when and where your story is set, it's important to find inspiration sources for the places in your story, whether that's buildings, towns, regions, whatever. Not only will this help you imagine and describe what you're envisioning, it will help you immensely with research on specific details.

2 - Time and Place Are Important - Many descriptive details are specific to time and place, so make sure you know that about your inspiration sources and/or the elements in your story. You can do a Google search for layout, architecture, and design (along with relevant location and era information) to find the details you need. For example, "medieval European castle layout" or "Victorian era manor house architectural details." Likewise, you can look for "Tudor era menswear" or "Victorian era dress details."

3 - Fighting Techniques - This again will tie into the time and place when your story is set. However, some fighting techniques will be somewhat timeless. I would strongly suggest heading over to @howtofightwrite for the best information and resources about portraying fighting techniques in writing.

WHAT DOES PROSHIP MEAN?

Hi! Probably my mutuals will see this first too, but if you don't know me: I'm a solkat* obsessed bitch, and also a proshipper. No, that doesn't mean that "I like kids", the label has nothing to do with kids in general. But if you're confused, don't worry! I'm here purposefully to explain all the proship-related labels!

*a ship from Homestuck. I'll sometimes use it as an example.

*I started to write it as "indipendent sections that can be read alone (in fact I repeat the concept of "shipping" in both the "proship" and "comship" sections), but then it became bigger, an entire speach. PLEASE READ IT ALL!

PROSHIP

My professor used to say: "if you don't know a word, break and analyze it", so let's do this here too! "Proship" is composed of two parts: "Pro" and "Ship"; "Pro" is a prefix meaning "in favor of", while "ship" is the short of "relationship", used in fandoms to describe a couple of *fictional* characters a fan wants to see together. For example, I *ship* Sollux and Karkat, two characters from Homestuck who aren't actually boyfriends in the comic, but I like to think they are.

People can ship characters together for many reasons, but having fun is at the base of every ship!

Now, proship, by definition, isn't a type of ship nor necesseraly a type of shipper or fan, but rather a type of person. A Proshipper is someone who believes that every ship, of every type, has the right to exist as long as the characters involved are entirely fictional, therefore unable to be hurted.

Proshippers support people who have NOTPs, meaning that if you don't like a ship, for whatever reason, that is A-OKAY! That's good! :D I also personally don't like Davekat and often post about how much I don't like it. Proshippers simply are against the harassment or censorship some shippers and ships get from others who don't like their ships. I don't like Davekat, but people have the right to ship it and no shippers deserve hate or death threats for the simple reason that they like to imagine two characters kissing.

Proshippers, other than having NOTPs, can also not have any ship at all! As long as you don't support harassing real life people over ships, you are, by definition, a Proshipper! You don't support harassment? Welcome in the community then :)

PS: "Profiction" is the same about all types of fiction and fictional stories!

NOTE: Nop, "proship" is NOT a "type of ship", is a label for a person.

COMSHIP

To make it easier, it can also be called as "DARKSHIP". Breaking the OG label down: "Com" stands for "Complex" and "Ship" is the short for "Relationship". "Ship" is used in fandoms to describe a couple of *fictional characters* a fan wants to see together within their *fictional universe*! I personally ship Sollux and Karkat from Homestuck, who aren't actually boyfriends, but I would like them to be, because it makes sense. They're best friends, they chat a lot, they flirt a lot, they care about each other, etc etc. But mind you, there isn't always a reason to ship two/more characters; sometimes is just for the vibes, or just because. It's not important why a person ships something, the very base of shipping is *having fun with it*! Since shipping revolves around a fictional world made of fictional characters, you can have as much fun as you want with it, because it doesn't involve anyone in real life.

Darkshippers do the same! Much like horror movies-enjoyers, Darkshippers like to ship taboo stuff or anything that is more complex than the ideal and healthy type of relationship. It involves incest (shipcest), pedophilia (age gaps), toxic ships and so on. But, like horror movies-enjoyers don't want to kill someone, Darkshippers don't want to rape, groom a child, have a relationship with a relative (nor support it, of course).

If that isn't your boat and actually disgusts you, that's understandable! I really, really hate "drunk kisses/sex" and everything involved with it, it's horrible honestly. You can be not a Darkshipper, but you can be Proship! Meaning that you don't come after the Darkshippers, you don't harass them and you don't support who does. Do it, and I can assure you, you and the Darkshippers will be fine and live peacefully together :D

PS: if you want to avoid that stuff, you can block tags or people! No one will be angry at you if you cure your space online. Take care of yourself <3

THE FALSE ALLEGATIONS: As I explained, NO darkshipper supports what they ship in real life, nor it's "more likely that they'll accept it if they indulge in it". As I said, darkshippers are more similar to horror/thriller enjoyers than pedophilies and groomers, because it's catharthic! That is also the reason why darkshippers tend to be traumatizzed people who need ot vent. Shipping something taboo can be a coping mechanism: feeling less alone and comforted, or explore what they're feeling or what happened in a safe environment. Your head is a safe place, you can think whatever you want! Basically, more often than not, vent art/fiction with taboo topics are a big steam of consciousness where the victim processes their own mind. It IS suggested by many therapists (like 4/4 therapists of mine confirmed me that it is healthy to cope throught fiction) for the simple catharsis in a safe place fact. Not dissimilar to those jails where prisoners are allowed to play violent videogames to reduce their levels of stress and actual violence. «What if they're actually, secretly a pedophile?» do you prefer a pedo to jerk off to an image of a loli or a photo of a real kid? Also, remember that most pedos are ex-victim of pedophilia as well, that they hate themselves already and want to die. Please, help them get therapy instead of fucking tell them to kill themselves. «What if they're not doing it as a coping mechanism?» would you tell a horror enjoyer to kill themselves because they "support serial killers"? No? Then don't go after darkshippers either. «What if a darkshipper uses their ship/art/fanfic/etc to groom a child?» blame the shitface, not the ship or who ships it too. There is a reason why we often stereotype a pedo as some weird ugly guy with a minivan and using candies to attract children, because candies were actually used to groom children. But again, you can go to any local store and find candies, and I doubt you would harass any adult who likes candies or call the police on any adult who gives candies to a child. Anything can be used to groom children. Blame the groomer, not the object per se.

ANTI-HARASSMENT

"Proship" and "Profiction" are actually a subsection of the bigger label "anti-harassment". Being anti-harassment in a fandom space means not harassing nor condoning the harassment of any fan or people who work at the show/movie/comic/book/etc the fandom revolves around.

A person can harass in various ways, it's not simply "insulting", — which is already unnecessary most of the times — a person could:

Send death threats («I will kill you»)

Suicide baits(«Kill yourself», «I'm going to kill myself and it's your fault»)

Pedo baiting randomly («You're a pedo because you ship [fictional characters]»)

Stalking

Doxxing (Posting publically name, address, ect of a real person)

And so on.

If you think this is disgusting and wrong, congratulations! You're anti-harassment and, most likely, proship and/or profiction too.

ANTI-CENSORSHIP

This is simpler to understand, but not to explain.

Why shouldn't you censor anything that you consider "immoral" or "wrong"? Anything fictional has the right to exist, because the alternative is much, much worse. The tool of censorship is very used in dictatorships, like in Italy during the Fascist era or Germany during the Nazi era. In Germany in particular, Hitler used to label any type of art he didn't like as "degenerate art": art that "didn't make sense" like abstract art, art that showed "obscenity" like naked women, art that wasn't a propaganda of the "superior and moral rightness like the nazi ideology" was censored. With this excuse, many queer books and authors, many vent art and call-out art was censored.

You may be thinking that "reporting a disgusting age gap ship art isn't tha same", but it is. If more and more people convice themselves that fiction and reality influence each other in a 1:1 scale (meaning: I draw two siblings kiss therefore I support incest), can lead more people to report that stuff, until it get taken down, meaning being censored. If you censor enough things, apps can get more liberties with censoring stuff. After all the age gaps, shipcests etc art, they'll go after all the type of porn art, then after queer art called "disgusting" (like kink at pride), then all queer art in general, then all the vent art, then anything "degenerate" (no more horror, no more gore, no more suggestiveness, no more mental illness awareness, no more disability awarness, etc).

If you think that is unlikely, they thought about it too when Mussolini arrived at the parlament.

EXTRA: "thoughtcrime" is something that is STILL very used in cults and totalitarisms. Promoting the idea that "if you think it, you want to secretly do it/secretly think that's ok", is a form of thoughtcrime. Whatever you think, whatever you feel, DO NOT MEAN ANYTHING ABOUT YOU. You aren't your thoughts, you aren't your dreams, you aren't your preferences, they mean nothing. You are what you show, what you do and what you choose. If you draw siblings kissing, it doesn't mean you want to kiss your sibling. Thinking and portraing =/= wanting or supporting. As for example, I have a friend who honestly confessed me to fantasized a lot about having an orgy with our entire class in school. She literally screams if you touch her arm because she is DISGUSTED by touch, and is very, very sex-repulsive. If that isn't the best example to prove that thoughtcrime doesn't exist, I don't know what to tell you.

LITTLE THING I DON'T KNOW WHERE TO PUT: Anti-censorhips promotes the re-contextualization of things instead of censorship! To put it in simple words: DO NOT CENSOR A PORN MOVIE! Just make sure no kids go to see it! Using tags, warnings, labels, etc are a way to help people understand the context and what they're going to watch, so they can avoid it if they don't like it. It's usually common courtesy doing it, but it's not required (if not the bare minimum).

ANTISHIP, ANTIFICTION, PRO-HARASSMENT, PRO-CENSORSHIP

At this point you might have understand: these are all the opposites of what I've said previously.

Antiship: you harass or support the harassment of shippers who ship something you don't like.

Antifiction: you harass or support the harassment of people who like something you don't like in fiction.

Pro-harassment: you think some people deserve harassment.

Pro-censorship: you're pro at censoring "degeneracy".

I think it's stupid to even argue in defense of this movements at this point.

As I explained before, they're ineherly fascist, nazi, anti-mental health, puristic, anti-kink, anti-queer, abelist movements, by DEFINITION! If you want me to explain them more, fine, I'll do it on a separate post, but it's not very needed. Just take what I've said before and do the negative of it. It's what those movements and way of thinking are about.

Please, do yourself a favor and stop being shitty or worry about stuff that do not matter. Pixels do not matter. They don't have emotions.

The content that I'm bringing next ✨

I thought I could give you a hint of the content I'm preparing in order to bring it during this week and next month! I'm taking my time to create it all, so that's why it's not gonna be posted right away, but I hope you'll like to read everything as I share it! 💖

I'll start with some regular posts and then I'll focus on my writing 🥰

-Get to know me. I mentioned a while back that I thought it'd be fine to share a little bit of myself with you so you can get to know me a bit better, and I'm currently working on this one and trying to think of as many things as possible so as to make it, you know... interesting? 😅 I don't really know how to describe it, but in any case, it's in the works!

-A masterpost. Just like the first one, I also mentioned that I'd like to create one at last, as I've posted a few stories and two headcanon posts already, and I want you guys to find them as easily as possible whenever you'd like to. This is gonna take a bit longer, because Tumblr's search tool doesn't work very well 😬 But I'll manage! 💪

-My pending asks. This is a bit embarrassing... I've had some asks waiting for a reply for months now and I'm so sorry that I've kept you waiting for so long 😅 Here's a promise: as soon as I've posted at least one of my pending fics (more about this below), I'll start gradually and slowly answering all the asks that I have left. I wanna give each and every one of you the proper replies you deserve, which is why I warned that I'd take some time, but that's one thing. Taking forever is very different and I'm truly so sorry 😅

-May and June calendars. Don't know if you've seen some of my calendar posts, but I happen to have two Nintendo calendars for this year and I've been showing them since January (here's the February one since I can't find the others lol), but sometimes I simply forget to share the one for the new month and it gets delayed... Shame on me again 😅 I intend to show May this week since it's technically still May, and I'll make sure to not let many days of June pass before I show the ones corresponding to that month 🥰

This one is coming soon, and when I say soon, I mean this week! 😁 I would've liked to post it mid May, but life wouldn't let me, but hey, better late than never! 🥰 I'm now in the process of editing and I intend to start translating tomorrow, and that usually doesn't take long, so you can expect this one at the end of the week 👀 Hope you'll like it! 💖

-Anything for him: Chapter 3. As I've mentioned a few times, this last chapter is long overdue and I'm ashamed that I'm taking SO long to finish it as I know very well what's going to happen! 😅 Still, once my Kitsune/Tanooki fic is up, this is the next thing I intend to fully work on, and even though I'm not sure to give a specific date, I would like to post it in June at last. Wish me luck in achieving this! 🤞🤞🤞

-Post-nightmare cuddles fic. Okay, it's been a few months already, but... anyone remember this writing prompt? I happened to receive a couple of suggestions in my inbox, and even though I wrote and posted the first one back in March, I wasn't able to finish the second one as I wasn't in the mood for angst when I first tried. But that's changed! 🤩 I'm CRAVING to write some angst, so this is gonna be the third thing on my writing list, and, again, I'd like to post it in June. I'll let you know if I succeed! 🤞🤞🤞

Yyyyyyes! That's right! 😁 I've recently started working on my very first AU and I am SO happy 🤩 I'm really SO excited about this one! I don't know yet how long it'll take until I'm ready to start posting it, but this is the thing that I mentioned yesterday that I keep getting new ideas for almost every single day 🤩

I'm not gonna say yet what it's based on, as I want it to be a surprise when I finally start sharing it with you guys, but it contains EVERYTHING that I love and that many of you love as well, so... I believe you'll like this one when it's ready 🤭 Maybe when I work a bit more on it and see a release date coming closer I'll go and tell you what it's about, but for now... I'll just keep working on it and enjoying every single word that I'm writing 😁

I really hope you'll like all of this once I start sharing it! As you see, I'm a big fan of making lists 😂 That's the way I usually organize everything that I have to do every day and such, and I thought that maybe sharing this, I'll have it a bit easier to focus and really bring all of it to this blog, even if I'm slow. Still, just know that I'm truly enjoying the process of creating not only the written fics (and the AU 🤭), but also the posts that I wanna bring soon 🥰

I'm gonna take a break from Tumblr for a bit to focus on my AO3, but I'm also gonna lay this all out because I've been in the Lego Monkie Kid fandom for a year and...

Y'all suck so fucking bad it's embarassing.

If it's not the disgusting mischaracterization of characters, it's ATTACKING people who don't agree with your 'headcanons', bullying and doxxing people who are actually trying to spread accurate information for shit just because it doesn't fit with YOUR headcanon and soooo much fucking more.

I swear to fucking god, I thought JJK had spoiled and selfish pieces of shit but LMK fandom is winning the award for being the most god awful fandom in existence. You guys are so awful there are times when even I, who usually mind my own fucking business, think about being mean and have to remind myself that I don't associate with you freaks.

Y'all are so disgusting and annoying. Like, don't get me wrong; I do have friends in the fandom who are nice and sweet. And I am glad I joined LMK because if I hadn't, I wouldn't have met them.

Keep in mind; I really do not associate with any fandom I'm in unless it's to read fics or catch up on what I miss. The only reason I actively became aware of the fandom was because some BITCH called me a proshipper for writing stuff for Nezha and Tang Sanzang. I won't deny though; I actually did write nsfw stuff for Bai He, the Bone Demon's host and I do actually regret it to the point I erased ANY fic I had with her because I felt disgusted with myself. Don't get me wrong, I was a piece of dog shit myself back then, but surprise! I learnt from it!

Sadly. The LMK fandom doesn't. At all. Half of you guys are getting offended for culture that's not even your own. Half of you guys are out here crying about the age of a decades old god when there's a literal genocide going on.

Dawg I shouldn't even be stressing myself out but it's come to the point I actively find myself hating this fandom more and more. You guys just SUCK.

It's so bad that I legit want nothing to do with making friends with anyone in this fandom anymore. I've met some people who are really, really sweet and obviously, I don't regret them at all and I'll stay their friend anyway, but the rest of you guys need to take some serious time of the internet and stop being fucking selfish, whiny little bitches.

"But then why are you still in the fandom-" because I like the characters. I like the show. I like the storytelling. I'll still love it regardless of how season 5 looks. I'm not a disgusting, selfish fan that wants to quit just because the animation has changed from a TRAILER VIEW ALONE. And at least I'm not going out of my way to send death threats to anyone, you fucking dipshits.

I've been in so many fandoms but god. God LMK makes me so mad. Thinking about you guys legit drives me insane because again; do any of y'all really give a fuck or do you just decide to watch the show because you sexualize the characters, have zero understanding of the story or the characters themselves, and decide that just because you're read Journey to the West, you're suddenly a HUGE expert in Chinese mythology.

Y'all cannot be serious. I've had people tell me, "W-well, you shouldn't write about the Monk that's disrespectful 😖". Okay then stop writing for Sun Wukong, you're being hella disrespectful too don't you think?? What about some of you who'll lose your shit because an OC, AN ORIGINAL CHARACTER is inspired/heavily references by an actual god because it's "disrespectful" my brother in Christ in what way is it disrespectful it's a reference and it's not the first time people have referenced deities for shows and other pieces of media. I get it if someone refers to the actual deities and figures of a religion and sexualize them, I can understand that. I grew up in a Hindu home and if someone told me Kali or Sita is sexy and doesn't refer to any piece of media but the actual deity themselves I'd be disgusted too (even if I'm atheist tbh).

But like. Duh. It's obvious people are separating the characters in the fucking show from the guys in the original. Shut the fuck up. If someone who's actually part of that culture isn't offended, then why the fuck are you?? What gives YOU the right to tell someone "well, you shouldn't reference this [god] for an oc it's not okay, and also it's not really accurate at all 😖" like. Dude. Let people have fun. Mind your fucking business and move on.

I'm not even gonna start on the Nezha age bullshit, nor even how everyone just sexualizes Wukong and especially Macaque and sees them (specifically Macaque) as these innocent uwu boys who did NOTHING wrong.

And don't even bring in the fact I write nsfw about them too, because news fucking flash; at least I try to understand their characters properly instead of fucking dumbing them down to basic sexy guy and nothing fucking else.

This fandom is so bad I feel like I've become toxic BEING around y'all. Dudes it wouldn't kill any of you to touch some fucking grass, eww.

I seriously cannot try to befriend anyone else on this fandom anymore because I know I'm going to run into someone who acts like this and I personally do not have the mindset to deal with them one bit. I actually have, in fact, run into people like this as a matter of fact which is why I genuinely got rid of some of them because; I'm gonna be honest. We will never see eye to eye, and I'm not that horrible I'd hate on you for your weird ass views. I'm blocking you and moving on, that's all there is to it.

At this point, I'm staying because the only good thing about this show IS the fucking show. The fandom is a bunch of sore losers probably over the age of 20 who need to actually do fact chects and understand media literacy before deciding they're suddenly fucking know it alls. I probably don't really care for anyone younger than that because I'm certain some of you just get influenced easily and well 🧍 not my responsibility, idc.

And I'm not really sorry when I say I really do hope there comes a point where you fucking freaks are the only ones left of humanity and an AI puts you all through hell and back out of the immense hatred for you because that's what you guys deserve.

FUCK you guys. All of you in this fandom. I don't like AM from IHNMAIMS but when I think of the LMK fandom I wonder if being a robot isn't such a bad idea after all.

I really tried giving this fandom a second chance. I really did. Inevitably. Y'all are horrible. God awful people that seriously should get off the internet and touch some grass smh

INTRO TO PANDORA.

subject matter : the silent four / the network . the foundation of pandora in the years before its creation .

the foundation of pandora has only existed for two decades . the organization itself has existed since world war I ( 1917 ) . the birth of espionage [ pigeon messages , a can of maps … mata hari , a dancer with high ranking admirer’s – – was hired by french intelligence to spy on the germans . ] operation nightwatch was planned by the united states government , forming a group of three men and a woman [ they are known as : ‘ the silent four . ’ ] nightwatch came from the mind of john j. pershing ( a decorated general of the u.s army ) , under woodrow wilson’s presidency . a sort of modest thing before the united states entered into the game of espionage .

gabriel kane , born in new york city in 1890 and the son of irish immigrants . during the first world war , he was the member of the 77th division , which saw extensive action in the meuse - argonne offensive . kane’s unit was tasked with attacking german fortifications along the front lines , and he quickly distinguished himself as a fearless and high skilled combatant . he was wounded multiple times in battle but continued to lead his fellow soldiers with bravery and determination . gabriel’s talents did not go unnoticed by his superiors , and he was eventually handpicked to join a special operations unit tasked with carrying out covert missions behind enemy lines . he excelled in this role , using his knowledge of the terrain and his ability to blend in with the local population to carry out a variety of missions , including sabotage and aviation , he enlisted in the army and intelligence gathering . it was during one of these missions that general john j. perishing first took notice of kane . after overseeing a assignment in which kane was sent on a dangerous reconnaissance mission , perishing was impressed by kane’s bravery and resourcefulness and subsequently recruited him into the silent four .

anthony price , born in philadelphia in 1890 from humble beginnings . he was heavily interested in civil rights movements , since both his parents were people of color . he also wrote poetry , often getting his poetry and articles published ( he talks about a lot of topics that are very personal to him , and sometimes becomes scrutinized for it . ) when world war 1 came about , he set off to join the army - in particular the harlem hellfire company in the 369th infantry regiment , a mostly all black company that initially were regulated to minor labor duties . eventually he and his fellow company men were sent to the front lines to fight along side the french army . price was a skilled linguist and fluent in french and german , which proved usful and he became a valuable asset to his company . during the battle of belleau wood , the harlem hellfire company saw extensive action , being tasked with capturing a heavily defended german position . anthony showed exceptional bravery and leadership , leading several successful assaults on enemy positions and earning respect of his fellow soldiers . to use his linguistic abilities to gather valuable intelligence on enemy movements and positions . he was eventually recruited by george creel , one of the six men who founded tsf .

damien knight , born in wichita kansas in 1891 , his parents owned a small airplane manufacturing business . because he grew up around airplanes and aviation , he enlisted in the army and underwent flight training , quickly proving himself a skilled and fearless pilot . one of his missions took place during the battle of saint - mihiel . knight was tasked with leading a squadron of planes on a bombing run against a key german supply depot . despite heavy anti - aircraft fire and enemy airplanes , knight and his squadron successfully carried out the mission , dealing a significant blow to german forces for the war effort . he was soon to be recruited by another member of tsf , who recognized his bravery , tactical skills , and the ability to think on his feet . he became an important member of the group , using her aviation expertise to carry out covert missions . his piloting skills were especially valuable in situations where the group needed a quick extraction or others in dangerous situations .

elizeabeth stone , elizabeth was boring in boston massachusetts in 1893 to a wealthy family of philanthropists . during the worked as a nurse , working on the front lines to care for wounded soldiers . she was stationed in several locations throughout europe , including france and italy , and gained a she developed a network of contacts among soldiers and civilians , and used her knowledge to help the allies plan reputation as one of the most dedicated and skilled nurses in her unit . she often went above and beyond her duties to provide comfort and care to soldiers , even under dan gerous condition or help was known to venture out into “ no man’s land ” to retrieve injured soldiers who were stranded or under fire , risking her own safety to ensure they were received medical attention . during her service , she also developed an interest in intelligence gathering , and began to secretly collect information about enemy troop movements and other military intelligence . she developed a network of contacts among soldiers and civilians , and used her knowledge to help the allies plan strategic operations . stone showed bravery and her intelligence gathering skills caught the attention of one of the founders of tsf , who then recruited her to work as a covert agent . as a member of the group , she used her medical knowledge and intelligence - gathering skills to carry out a range of missions , often going undercover as a nurse or aid worker to gather information or help resistance groups .

TIMELINE OF EVENTS ,

1918 - 1920 :

the silent few ( tsf ) extends to include more agents after the first world war ends . focusing on recruiting veterans of the war , giving them promise and purpose ( especially if they’ve felt lost and disconnected after the war . )

the organization becomes more structured , with specialized teams for intelligence gathering , field operations , and research and development etc .

it establishes its headquarters in washington d.c , and has offices across the united states and the world as a safe place for agents to go to while on a mission .

1921 - 1939 :

tsf continues to grow and adapt , now going by a different name , called the network . it continued to develop new technologies and tactics for espionage and covert operations .

the organization's reputation for effectiveness and discretion attracts the attention of influential government officials and wealthy benefactors .

agents are involved in a number of high - profile missions , including efforts to counter soviet espionage and sabotage during the interwar period .

1940 - 1945 :

with the outbreak of world war 2 , the silent few plays a critical role in gathering intelligence and conducting sabotage and espionage operations against the axis powers .

many agents served in the armed forces , using their specialized training to aid in military operations . while others fought alongside the military as a show of support .

during this time , the network continues to recruit and train new operatives , expanding its tanks to include specialists in a wide range of fields ( including cryptography , linguistics , and technology . )

1946 - 1960 :

in the aftermath of the war , the network shifted its focus to countering the emerging threat of communist regimes around the world .

the organization engages in covert operations to support anti - communist forces in countries such as korea , vietnam and cuba .

the network develops new technologies and techniques for surveillance and intelligence gathering , including the use of satellites and advanced encryption methods .

1961 - 1989 :

during the cold war , the organization plays a key role in working to gather intelligence and thwart soviet espionage efforts .

it becomes increasingly secretive and compartmentalized , with many agents operation in isolation from one another .

during this time , the agency develops advanced weapons and technologies for use in covert operations .

1990 - 1995 :

with the collapse of the soviet union and the end of the cold war , the network finds itself facing a new era of uncertainty and shifting geopolitical priorities .

the organization struggles to adapt to new threats such as terrorism and cyber warfare , and begins to face criticism for its secrecy and lack of accountability .

during a period of weakness , a man named conrad ashe would assassinate top network individuals and any agents who were loyal , take over the organization . effectively wiping it clean and starting over . thus pandora was born , in a new world with new possibilities .

As promised, welcome to

Fun biology in TOTK’s designs

I'll keep this post updated as I go through the game. I'm going to skip the more general identifiable things like apples (they're based on apples!) because there are tons of more unusual species to talk about.

Overall, the really interesting thing I've noticed is that many of the more unique Earth-based lifeforms in TOTK are super ancient, like predating dinosaurs ancient, which is a really cool tie-in to the overall time-hopping plotline of TOTK. Specifically, they're found in the new areas (caves, depths) while the surface remains a bit more normal.

(There will be no plot spoilers in this post, and also I've barely gotten into the plot because I'm spending all my time wandering, so shhh no spoilers in the tags for like a month please.)

Most recent additions: More lilies, irises, wild ginger, spiny bones, pigeon extravaganza, plus added some more real photo comparisons to old stuff.

PLANTS

Bryophytes my beloved. Bryophytes are among the earliest land plants, waaaay predating flowers and even seeds. In our world, they’re small by necessity—they lack vascular systems to help move water around like other plants, so they have to stay small and moist (hence their frequency in caves in TOTK—though they do need some light in real life.)

In TOTK they’re quite large and I think that’s very sexy and art directors should give us big bryophytes more often

Anyway, there are three types of bryophytes: mosses, liverworts, and hornworts. First image pair is a moss, second is a liverwort. Those red-brown and palm-tree-like structures, respectively, are their reproductive structures.

Not yet spotted: Hornworts! Did they forget the third bryophyte sister :(

I think these next guys are probably lycopods (specifically club moss, which is not a true bryophyte moss, thanks science.) Very old, but vascular, so they're a bit more evolutionarily recent than bryophytes.

All the enormous curly-topped trees in the depths: Ferns! They curl like that until they unfurl. Another very old plant, though younger than bryophytes and lycopods.

Brightblooms and some of the other giant plants in the depths: Possibly based on a cycad? Again, a very ancient plant lineage. At this point, evolutionarily, they've developed seeds—that giant cone in the center is called a strobilus, and that's the seed structure.

These next few plants are angiosperms, meaning they produce flowers. Angiosperms are a more recent evolutionary lineage—still many millions of years old, but it took a while to develop flowers as a reproductive tactic.

Sundelions (left) are a fun recolor of a lily. There are also some scenery lilies (right) in various places—there are yellow ones that spring up when you turn on a lightroot (which gives them literal and thematic connection to the surface) and several other varieties, including tiger lilies, throughout Hyrule. Fun note, the sundelions appear to only have 5 stamen, while other lilies in the game (correctly) have 6. Seems to be an intentional decision to make it a more distinct fantasy species.

These next ones are Peruvian lilies/Alstroemeria, just used as a scenery plant but a very fun inclusion. Fun fact, not true lilies, so they're not deadly to cats like true lilies are.

Plum trees: These are also called out as plum trees in game! There's a journal in Kakariko that refers to the plum orchards.

Okay I'm a little proud of figuring this one out. Bomb flowers blend a few botanical references. Superficially, the fruit resembles a type of seed pod called a capsule—specifically it's very similar to a poppy capsule. The little red thing in the center is a nice addition to resemble both a flower stigma (reproductive part that leads to the ovary) and a bomb fuse. Now, poppy capsules disperse their seeds via wind, but there are other plants who do explode their seeds outwards as a dispersal tactic! This is called explosive dehiscence.

There is one tree in particular called the sandbox tree, AKA monkey-no-climb or dynamite tree (yes, really.) Their capsules look more like little pumpkins, but are known for violently exploding when ripe—they can launch seeds at 150 miles per hour (250 km/h) and spread them roughly 200 feet (60 m) away. The photo comparison is a poppy capsule but you should def go look up dynamite tree videos.

Fire fruits (and the other elemental fruits) grow on the same generic plant that looks kind of like it has grape leaves. Fire fruits resemble a specific botanical thing too though—the black netting is a papery calyx (part of the flower) seen in a nightshade genus, Physalis (golden berries, tomatillos, etc.)

Not sure of the exact species but they're very green and heart-shaped and love being dense and low to the ground.

MISCELLANEA

Cup lichen! Lichen is not a plant, but a symbiotic structure of an algae + a fungi. Cup lichen is just a type of lichen formation that has a kind of vertical cup-like structure.

Geology crossover! Go look carefully at some of the whiter walls in the depths—they look like they have fossils of coral and other undersea hard-structured animals in them.

ANIMALS

Sticky lizards: Based on Diplocaulus, a very early (now extinct) amphibian! Their skulls are wacky. We're not sure whether the long sides stood out separately or were smoothly connected to the body by skin flaps, but the separate arrow-like shape is the most popular rendition.

Deep firefly: Might be a stretch because it could just be a multi-winged fantasy critter, but I think the "wings" and antennae are very reminiscent of Anomalocaris, an ancient aquatic arthropod.

Update: Other folks in the notes/tags have pointed out that they're probably based on a cryptid that's especially popular in Japan: skyfish AKA rods! They show up in photos and people think they're an alien lifeform. In reality, they're an optical blur created when a lower quality video captures intermittent flaps of an insect's wings, leaving sort of a many-winged smear in the photo. Thanks to all who left info!

Little frox: Another stretch because it totally could just be a Hinox-like frog, but every time I see the little ones I can't help but think of like...Ichthyostega, Mastodonsaurus, Eryops, and other early amphibians. They were pretty hefty—little frox size or bigger—and had with little waddling legs. This is less "I think it's definitely this" and more "it makes me happy when I picture frox as primitive amphibians."

I haven't detailed many of the scenery animals around Hyrule because most are identifiable with the camera function—it'll tell you that a certain animal is a heron or porgy, for example, and those groups are real, even though the exact species is made up. But I think the pigeons are fun because they're all crested pigeons. Pink-necked green pigeons may have also been the inspiration for the color palettes on the wood and rainbow pigeons.

Spiny bones: Not a specific critter, but those spiny bones that you can find lying around Eldin Canyon are vertebrae—possibly from the same thing that left those big rib cages around? The top spike is the spinous process where muscles attach, the littler spikes on the side are the transverse and articular processes. The dark O in the center is the spinal cord.

Also I made a friend who finally recognizes my purpose in Hyrule.

"I'LL MISS YOU" paige muttered against her neck.

"it'll go by before you know it" y/n said pulling away from the hug. When college applications started being filled, she took a big risk and applied for Politecnico di Milano, a fashion uni in Milan, Italy. She had already said goodbye to her parents, thinking that was the hardest goodbye she could imagine, but the tears in her eyes from saying goodbye to her girlfriend right now, told her she lied to herself a while ago.

Paige and y/n had always had a rocky side of their relationship, for one, it was a secret waiting to bomb the world, two, they always knew that long distance was going to be a thing for them. With Paige going to Uconn and Yn going to PDM, 'it was already doomed' said by most people. But overcoming the rocky side of their relationship, there was the fairytale side. The one where they in love, where they supported each other in everything, where they took each others first kisses, first everything. They were each other's lifelines in a way, they didn't go a day without speaking to each other.

They both hoped that these future 4 years, weren’t going to change their feelings of each other.

“…leave a message after the tone” y/n sighed as she hung up the phone. It was 7am and her alarm had just gone off, Paige was most likely asleep. It’s 1am at Storrs.

If you put the time difference aside, they were doing well. Both of them spent at least 2 hours everyday on the phone and haven’t had an any problems yet.

But it’s only been 5 months. 7 months and 3 years to go.

Y/n was glad Paige settled in great, she got along with her teammates and had a great support system there. Paige became a media star, with that came many fans. While y/n wasn’t the jealous type, these fans were wild.

She opened her instagram app, and slowly started to scroll through stories. When she stopped, went stiff. “Oh” she muttered, her girlfriend’s teammate, Aaliyah, had posted a story with the Uconn women’s basketball team having fun ,at what she would guess, a bar. Paige is in the background , a girl sitting next to her, whiles shes on the phone. Y/n quickly checked when the story was posted,10minutes ago.

‘Okay so she could’ve just posted this when she came home’ y/n quickly assured herself. Paige wouldn’t just ignore her calls, especially on a night out, right?

As those thoughts filled her head, a notification sound came from her phone.

gm baby. can’t talk, tired, going to bed.

y/n didn’t think anything, she couldn’t. She just typed ‘sweet dreams💗’ and hit send.

‘Stop, don’t overthink this ,shes just tired’ she told herself. She shut her phone off and got out of bed, leaving her thoughts about P in her comfy bed.

It had been a month since the bar incident, and everything seemed normal, until a week ago.

Y/n just got out of work, a small intern job to help her graduate early. It was 6pm in Milan, and 12 in Storrs.On her way home, y/n called P.

The phone rang, 1,2,3 times before she hung up. Tried a gain, 1,2,3. User is busy.Paige had hung up on her, she didn’t think much of it. ‘She’s probs busy’.

That was 6 days ago.

While they exchange texts, no calls were made this week. Paige was busy, like really busy, But not busy ‘not go out with her friends for the 3rd time this week’ busy. Y/n got it, freshman year, new teammates, she had to have fun. She also knew that their relationship was on the down low. Even though she assured Paige that it was okay to tell her teammates, P reluctantly agreed. ‘I don’t know, i’ll see’ She muttered to y/n, 2 weeks ago on their normal facetime call.

Y/n didn’t want to think much of it, she didn’t want her overthinking to brew a fight. The last 2 years she was back home, her and paige had never gone a day without speaking to each other, but so what it stopped now?, it was common sometimes to not call. So she let it be, but Paiges text became more and more rare,more dry and definitely more weird.

But y/n knew, paige was just busy.

On the other end of the phone. Y/n hit the red button, and ended the call. She hit her head on the wall behind her in frustration, thankful that the call wasn’t on facetime and Paige could see her sad face.

Y/n had called in sick at work so she could watch Paiges game in peace, her boss gave her an earful, because it was one of the more busier seasons in the fashion world, but she let her be ‘sick in bed’. She was proud of Paige, and was the happiest for her.

But the mood drifted when she heard the voice tell her they need her. ‘I need her too’ Y/n thought. This was the first time in a month that Y/n heard Paiges voice. Her heart clenched when she heard her sound weird, it sounded like she was frustrated. Frustrated with who though, with y/n?.

As time went quick, it felt like Paiges texts were more rare, and even more dry. And Y/n didn’t know if Paige was aware of the way she was acting, she also didn’t know if she should say anything, Paige was a freshman in college having fun, alone,without Y/n next to her.

If Y/n were to say anything, she didn’t want to seem like the bitchy jealous girlfriend that only wanted Paige to spend time with her, she just wanted Paige to spend some time with her.

It felt like their relationship was a bomb, and their time was running out quickly.

How could you pull the plug and leave me flatline? (Flatline) Cause when I hit you, you don't even reply (Reply) How could you pull the plug and leave me flatline?

“… i just need some space y/n” Paige said with frustration, a sigh coming after. Y/n’s heart dropped.

It all started an hour and a half ago.

Paige went out with her teammates after a late night practice, forgetting that y/n was waiting on her phone call that she promised she would do after practice.

After she came home, she was bombarded with messages from Y/n. 8 to be exact.

And when she called, the yelling happened. It was the first fight they’ve had in a while. While Y/n finally exploded demanding to know what’s happening with her, Paige only had one thing to say.

“I think we should take a break”

“What?” Y/n whispered after a long pause.

“i’m not ready to be in a relationship Y/n/n, i’m still questioning what i want, and i don’t know if its you yet.” Paige said. “I’m sorry, i just need some space Y/n”

Y/n heart dropped, she didn’t know what to say or think. While Y/n knew that not everything lasted, Paige was a sure thing. Paige was her lifeline. What was she going to do?.

Y/n gulped and said the only thing she knew she could say “It’s okay”.

‘It’s okay?’ Paige was taken back. Had Y/n want to breakup before?, and then Paige shockingly felt hurt in her chest, her stomach slightly dropped. Why was she feeling like this? why isn’t she feeling relief?. This has been on Paiges mind for the past 3 months, wasn’t this the solution?

“Go be a superstar but don’t expect me to wait for you while you figure out what you want to do” Y/n said, her voice sweet. Not even a slight tone of bitterness.

Y/n still wasn’t able to move from her spot on the kitchen counter. Tears were streaming down her face, and before a sob sound could come, she hung up the phone. All Y/n knew was Paige, but know she didn’t even know that.

She had literally left her clueless, without her lifeline. now flatline.

Paige stood there, watching from her afar.

“That’s her?” a croatian accent asked. She felt Nika sit beside her. “Yeah” Paige answered still in awe of her.

“She’s really pretty” Nika said. Paige nodded agreeing with her. She was wearing a flowy white short summer dress with cowboy boots.

It was Drews birthday today, and as the team had some off time, Drew invited them to his barbecue party. And the weekend before his birthday, he ran into Y/n. Of course the boy was oblivious to the breakup and while he asked still asked Paige for Y/n, she didn’t have the heart to tell him that they broke up.

So when Drew begged Y/n to come to his birthday party, Y/n didn’t know what else to say but yes. He could literally get whatever he wanted out of everyone.

At first, Y/n debated if she should just call Paiges stepmom and cancel, or she should just go and pray that Paige couldn’t make it.

Well, Paige had come. And so did the rest of the huskies. When Y/n saw them, she sighed. Although she was friends with Azzi, she didn’t know the rest of them, but by the look on their faces when she came in, she knew that Paige had told them her history.

Azzi, being the sweetheart she is, excitedly came running to Y/n and hugging her tight. The whole party they caught up with each other, with Azzi telling her about Uconn and Y/n telling her about studying abroad. For the past 30 minutes they’ve been talking, not once have either of them mentioned Paige.

Y/n turned, meeting Paiges eyes. The two of them made eye contact with each other again. Y/n then heard Azzi laughed, when she snapped her head to look at her friend. She saw a small teasing smile on her face. “Don’t even start” Y/n said, glaring at her. She got up and made her way to the other side of the backyard, where there was no Paige in sight.

“Y/n/n” she heard a child scream. Drew was suddenly hugging her legs. “Hi Drewsky” she laughed, beginning to tickle him. She felt the boy starting to laugh, and start to kick her hands away, while Paige and her were together, Drew became a big part in their relationship. Paiges parents often made Paige babysit Drew, and Y/n just tagged along. Through that time, Drew and Y/n became close, Y/n considered him as a baby brother. She would miss him.

“Paigeyy help me” Drew screamed laughing. Y/n became stiff, the hair behind her neck stood. She could feel her ex behind her as she let the little boy go and stand up.

Paige and Y/n stared at one another. Paige was thankful her teammates weren’t around right now, they would be on her ass all day after this.

“Hi” Y/n whispered, looking away from her and to the ground.

“Hey” Paige said back. “How’ve you been-“

“Paige please no small talk, what do you want?” Y/n cut her off. This was already awkward enough, no need to make it even more.

“Uh” Paige stuttered, a sigh coming after. “I missed you” Paige admitted. Y/n’s blood boiled, now she missed me?

Paige could sense Y/n anger, she placed a hand on Y/n elbow, tugging her from leaving. “Please just wait” Paige pleaded “I’m sorry, i just didn’t know what to do i kept having all of this kind of feelings and i know i was busy but i swear just one more chance-“

“Paige” y/n cut her off

“- and i’ll promise i’ll try harder-“ paige continued

“-stop-“ she tried to stop her

“please just give me one more chance”

“-okay” she agreed. Paiges eyes went wide, she didn’t think she would get her to agree that easy.

“I only needed you to apologize P, i only want you to make some time for me thats all. And if were really trying this again you have to be sure you want this because i don’t know if i can handle loosing you again” She said still looking at the ground.

Paiges heart dropped hearing her voice break. Although she knew how Y/n felt, Paige had been nothing but moody,grumpy and miserable these past few months. Seeing Y/n today, brought her hope that she had a second shot with her.

Y/n slowly picked up her head, and looked up at Paige. Paige was jaw dropping hot, and she knew that, her head couldn’t get any bigger by her ego.

Paige reached a hand towards her waist, pulling Y/n towards her. When she did, she slowly dropped a sweet kiss on her girlfriends lips, when she pulled away, her forehead dropped to Y/n’s.

She felt like she could finally breathe, her chest no longer hurt. She had her lifeline back.

Wen Kexing!! My focus here was to channel his coolness even through warm colors, and to get his... "essential vibes" through one picture. More (rambling) below! (this is essentially a post about WKX's personality)

A big case can be made about "who or what is the 'true' Wen Kexing". So; let's be real, I don't know if anyone makes a "big case" out of it, but I sure have seen people seemingly arguing against a vague 'common opinion' regarding Wen Kexing's personality. The """common""" opinion (allegedly): the true Wen Kexing is [insert one of WKX's facets] (or something along those lines) The case against it: all Wen Kexing's are the true Wen Kexing Now I do agree with the fact that "all Wen Kexing's" are Wen Kexing, technically. For clarity, let's list and name those various facets (most are commonly accepted, some I'll just name on the go): - Wen Kexing: I'll use his full name for the personality we're first met with in the book. Someone cold, rather quiet, analytical and distant. Giving off strange vibes in social situations (ZZS thinking he's weird, other jianghu figures being creeped out by him or thinking that he's up to no good), contemptuous - Philantropist Wen: The more extravagant, (bullshit) storyteller, outrageous and shameless flirting enthusiast version of WKX. - Valley Master Wen: cold, calculating, quiet, cruel, unbelievably patient, dislikes fun and games, barely feels anything - Wife Wen: The over the top dramatic wife whose life is made difficult by his difficult and shameless husband, essentially a lot of roleplaying the good littol domestic wife and whatnot - The wooden man: similar as Valley Master but demure and apparently subservient? (for calculated purposes) Okay they could be more I guess, but the point is, we have an array of WKX personas and personalities and the actual consensus (I think, my sample is like 10 people so....) is that every one of those is "true" to WKX and that not one of them is a fully constructed persona. Now, while I agree, I guess that what I wonder is: what is WKX in his resting state? If nothing is happening and that he's not in a particularly social or specific situation, what do we get to see? I think that the answer mostly resides in extra 4, which is an INCREDIBLE retelling of TYK from WKX's perspective; someone who thinks quite a lot, and for long, someone who observes things with distance and little to no emotion. Someone who is used to having one goal (revenge, taking care of ZZS during his coma), and who will probably go through a lot of quiet thinking when finally faced with the void of not having one specific thing to aim for. Someone who will have to learn to find joy/happiness, and who probably doesn't... get there "naturally"? (and by that I mean, without ZZS or without directly following ZZS around). Someone whose ties to his own emotions have been severed a long time ago, I guess. Someone still quite contemptuous of many things and people and who has a whole life he didn't plan for or even consider ahead of him. Which is............ what I tried to draw............ here..................... (That and also I wanted to draw a pretty looking hanfu in sepia colors) (but I SWEAR that was not the main goal) (I think) (anyway please ignore me)

Kakashi spins SO MUCH compared to Obito in their fights, but as someone who trained martial arts for many years, I get it, you know?

First of all, Kakashi loves his kicks. It puts some distance between you and your target, you can protect the upper half of your body by leaning back, a well thrown kick can send your adversary flying or staggering back, etc.

The cool part is that Kakashi uses a lot of back spinning kicks. They have more strength behind them because you use your entire body and the energy the movement creates. If you dominate the techniques and you've trained your balance so you won't get dizzy, it's almost expected to use kicking combos.

I'll try to explain?? It's a bit hard, but I want it to be easy to understand for someone who doesn't know how the kicking dynamic works.

Okay, so—

There are different parts of the foot you can use to cause different types of damage. It depends on how you're standing and from which direction you're kicking. So imagine you stand with your body facing a side and while you look ahead. Your right foot is behind and you want to kick with that one— you retract your right knee, you bring your right leg up and closer to your body, all the while your left foot starts to shift its position to look back. At the same time you extend your right leg, your left foot shifts. The movement is explosive and your body is now facing the opposite side.

You are already half spinning!

If you don't land the hit, you can always set your right foot down and keep the flow of your body to back kick with the heel or arch of your left foot. If that one kick doesn't hit, you can set your left foot down and... Kick again with your right! Now you're facing ahead again!

The best (like Kakashi) can spin without setting a foot down, basically using the movement to keep them afloat.

I'm making it all so way more simple than it is and the combinations can vary pretty drastically, but as I was saying, Kakashi is a practical fighter and he loves to use every single thing available while he fights.

The reason why he fights so elegantly is because, like in a dance, he uses the flow to move, to guide the fight, to shift the position of his own body and the position of his weapons. In comparison, Obito learned to use more of the movement and weight to counter Kakashi's fluidity.

(I ended up making a bunch of gifs for this post, oops! Better keep going!)

Anyway, I bet I don't have to mention how much Kakashi spins his weapons. There are at least six different occasions during this particular fight with Obito. He loves to spin kunais to change his grip, to exchange hands, he even sent one flying high so he got both hands free to defend himself from Obito and then proceeded to kick it midair to with his heel, so it cut Obito in the cheek.

He's practical, so every spin has a meaning. Back at his fight with Zabuza, Kakashi even used the spin with his summoning scroll to intimidate... I think (I can't remember clearly).

You can rewatch almost any Kakashi fight in the anime and compare it to this post. You'll see that he is the spinning king for a reason.

Things that make me happy right now ✨

As I mentioned yesterday, I wanted to make a list of the things that are bringing me happiness right now as I'm going through a hard time in my life. These are the things that I'm holding on to in order to keep going, and I thought it'd be fine to share them not only because it's gonna help me in my healing process, but also in case this post could help or inspire someone else. There's always many reasons to keep going and these are just some of mine right now 🥰

My Kitsune and Tanooki Plushies:

I mean... Look at them. How could they not bring me happiness 🥹 I bought Tanooki Mario last year, shortly after the movie came out, and I simply couldn't have him alone anymore, so last month, at last, I also got Kitsune Luigi and now they finally have each other 🥹 I honestly cannot stop hugging them and staring at them because they're so CUTE 🥹

Also, this came in perfect timing as a couple of nights ago, I was able to feel calm and focused enough as to finish the Tanooki/Kitsune story I've been working on for the past month 🥰 It's the one that I intended to post mid May and that was inspired by this beautiful drawing, but even if it's coming later than I would've liked, at least now it's done and it just needs some editing before I can start translating it 🥰

Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door:

This wonderful game came in last Thursday (a little late though, almost 8PM 😂), and I've been playing it since then and I'm now going through my absolute favorite chapter 😁 I won't spoil anything for those of you who are playing it for the first time, but my God, It's being such a wonderful experience to replay this masterpiece 🥹🥹🥹 The graphics, the story, the characters, the music!!! Have you heard what they've done to the soundtrack??? 🤯🤯🤯 I swear I have to stop and listen to it for a few minutes every single time a new theme starts playing, so that I can appreciate it in its fullest and notice the slight changes they've made to improve every single one of them. And it simply makes me love this game even more 🥹🥹🥹

This was my very first Paper Mario game and I honestly cannot explain what it means to me to be replaying it almost 20 years later. The original for Gamecube made me fall in love with the series, and the remake for Nintendo Switch... what can I say: Mario is saving my life again 😌❤️✨

Just like I did with Princess Peach Showtime, there will be a post in the future showing all the merch I got for this game 😁

Seeing my favorite band live in two weeks! 🤩🤩🤩

Okay, remember this post I made a couple of months ago? 👇

As I mention in that same post, it was inspired by a Spanish band called Estopa which has been my absolute favorite since I was 14. They released a new album last March and have now started a tour around my country, and in only two weeks —two weeks!— I'm gonna see them live and I'm internally screaming 🤩🤩🤩

Musically speaking, Estopa has been the band of my life. They've inspired me to write two of my novels, as well as the Musicians post I just linked, and I just LOVE not just their music but also their lyrics. And their brotherly love! After all, they're two brothers from a town near Barcelona, which is why I thought our boys Mario and Luigi could work very well as a band 🥹 (something that I explore in the linked post above!)

And you know the best part? Later this summer, in August, they're coming to another town close to where I live... and I'll be seeing them again 😁😁😁 Double Estopa this year!!! 🤩🤩🤩

My doggies 🐶🐾✨

I guess this one was very obvious, but I just had to include my babies 🥹 They're my sweet little angels, they're not only beautiful but also very smart and silly, and I just love them so dearly 💖💖💖 Besides, the twins, Baloo and Mauri, have a great emotional intelligence, you know... Both of them know when I or any of my family members (mostly my parents) are feeling sad or down, and they immediately come to sit by our side or at our feet and try to make us feel better by placing their heads on our laps or, if they can, giving us small kisses in our hands or cheeks. And it just makes me love them even more 🥺🥺🥺

I really feel so grateful that these three babies are in my life 💖💖💖

Everything that I'm writing or plan to write 📝✨

Remember this post that I shared a while back? So far I've only finished two of the works on that list, with only one already posted, which you can read here if you're interested. It's about time that I go and finish other pending stories, like chapter 3 of Anything for him or a certain post-nightmare cuddles fic as both are long overdue 😅 The good news is, as I said above, the Tanooki/Kitsune story is done at last 🥰

Also, after I posted that list, I've come up with at least three more ideas that I haven't talked about yet, so... more to look forward indeed 👀 One of them especially has me absolutely EXCITED and I get new ideas for it almost every day 🤩🤩🤩 Hope I can tell you about them soon as well as bringing my promised stories at last! 🤞💖

Here I'm not only referring to my IRL friends, to whom, of course, I'm very grateful and love so much, but also, and obviously, to you, my dear friends 🥹 As I said yesterday, you've all become a very important part of my life and I feel you close even though we're all spread around the world. It's like we've formed some kind of family who are always there for each other no matter what and just want the rest of the members to be fine and healthy and happy. And it's honestly so touching and heartwarming 🥹💖 I truly feel like the luckiest woman on Earth for being part of such a wholesome group and I love every single one of you so so much 🫂💖💖

Control: The Strange Dynamics of Andy and Leyley or

The Incest End Is Not The Fucking Bad End, Stop Coping

EDIT:

Hey guys! This post is blowing the fuck up, but this was my first essay on this game, and I think I've had many more insightful things to say since then. Here's a link to a masterpost with all of my essays, which I'd definitely suggest reading after this one:

Anyways, without further adieu...

I heard a lot about this game going in. I knew the general story beats and the funny haha incest memes. I knew it was about a toxic codependent relationship where Ashley, the sister, acted like your standard overly-controlling person who used various abuse techniques to keep someone in line. I expected Ashley to be a yandere-type character where she was borderline psychotic, irrational, and had a skewed perception of reality. I expected her to be a crazy bitch, and I love me some crazy bitches.

But then I actually played through the game. ...That is not what I got.

The game advertises Andrew as a doormat extraordinaire who is strung along by his Very Not Good sister and has no agency of his own' that he's just a henpecked abuse victim. But in practice, that doesn't seem to be the case. One of their first exchanges that in the story is when the occultist played his music and Ashley wanted them to check it out. He says 'no', sure, but then he smirks and says 'but I'll come along if you do.'

That is not the dialogue of someone who has no will of their own, that's the dialogue of someone who willingly gives up their own agency.

This is not, on its own, a sign of anything out of the ordinary. What caught my attention with it, though, is how it flew in the face of the common narrative surrounding their relationship dynamic. But that's not the first time I noticed it, it's just the first time, in retrospect, that their actual dynamic begins to show. The first time I personally noticed it is in the choking scene.

There are a lot of ways to view this situation. But my own reading? This was not a crime of passion. This was not him trying to break free. This is him doing something he's thought about for a while. This is premeditated. In this scene, Andrew is done playing along with Ashley's shit. In this scene, I firmly believe Ashley is the victim.

Ashley is the more openly abusive of the two who seeks to do whatever she can to trap Andrew so he'll never leave her. That much is clear. But Andrew-

-clearly has these same tendencies. He says this shortly after Ashley mentions putting her name up on a call girl's wall for money. There's protective brotherly instincts, and then there's this. This is not something you'd threaten a sister with, this is something that a man would threaten his wife with, which is directly brought attention to in the story.

(hey look he accepts the framing of it being WIFE beating at face value, and says Ashley is the only one who makes him like that! HMMMMMMMMMM WONDER WHAT THAT IMPLIES???)

It also implies that this is not the first time physical force has been threatened! I mean, that much is obvious, because of the choking scene that happened before, but I more mean that this implies that Andrew either threatening or utilizing physical force is an established pattern of behavior. However, the Decay route implies that she never thought Andy would kill her (but Andrew would) which can either be for or against depending on one's perspective, so I don't hold to the idea that it's an established pattern too strongly.

Okay, so. Andrew has some controlling and possessive tendencies too. So what? Their relationship is codependent. It's advertised as such. What of it?

Well first of all, it pretty much blows the lid off of the idea that Ashley is the sole perpetrator of abuse in their relationship. I've seen a lot of people view Andrew's behavior as justified retaliation against abuse, but frankly, I don't believe that him threatening to strangle Ashley for violating boundaries by trying to hold him accountable for his actions (given the strangulation part happens after she brought up Nina's death and how Andrew was ultimately responsible) is justified. And I ESPECIALLY don't believe that him threatening to backhand Ashley for her transactional attitude towards sex is justified in ANY circumstance.

EDIT: This part was edited in from the original post for the sake of readability so they don't have to see the reblogs to see the updated version! This post gained more traction than I was expecting!

…But perhaps even more telling is what she DOESN'T do.

Pushing someone's boundaries until they lash out is a pretty common tactic in abusive relationships. It's easy to see why, too: It justifies prior behavior and paints them in a negative light to others. This can be an important aspect of using DARVO (deny, attack, and reverse victim and offender) against someone, although the two ideas aren't necessarily linked.

It's pretty easy to argue that this is what Ashley does, but if you look at the one time her boundary pushing DID go too far, when Andrew lashes out with physical violence… she doesn't do that. She doesn't blame him. She doesn't paint herself as the victim. She doesn't even try to give a reason as to why she shouldn't be killed outside of the comfort she gives him. Why is this notable?

Because the mom does, in fact, engage in what could be considered DARVO against Ashley:

Ashley is directly compared to Mrs. Graves by Andrew, and yet she crucially displays none of the habits that Mrs. Graves does. Mrs. Graves lays the blame on Ashley, but Ashley doesn't lay the blame on Andrew. Mrs. Graves tends to paint herself as the victim of Ashley, but Ashley does no such thing to Andrew. The mom denies her culpability at every turn; Ashley doesn't. Ashley tries to hold Andrew accountable for his role in Nina's death, which could be considered a kind of DARVO. But she never denies that she had a role to play in it. She just mentions that he was the one who pulled the trigger. And he was.

(and the point was more that she DIDN'T engage in it when threatened with physical violence; the perfect chance to)

In Mrs. Graves' mind, she is the victim of either Ashley, or society as a whole. In Ashley's mind, she knows what she is, what she does, and what she's about. The only thing she's oblivious to- or doesn't acknowledge, at least- is the threat Andrew poses to her. In her mind, she's the bad guy. In Andrew's mind, Ashley is the bad guy. In official art, she is the bad guy:

And yet, in the game itself, Andrew is the one holding the cleaver. Not her. Hm.

Ashley is the world's most convenient scapegoat. She allows people to mask their own worst habits and pretend they're better people than they are. She accepts this role. She embraces it. She doesn't try to deny it. But when that mask slips, people lash out at her. Both Mrs. Graves and Andy (NOT Andrew, crucially) predicate much of their self-perception on being what she's not.

But they're the ones who enabled her to become like this, every step of the way.

And that's what blew my fucking mind, and made me question just who the victim really is. She was never given a chance to be normal, because other people relied on her NOT being normal.

By the end of my second playthrough, I felt worse for Ashley than I did for Andrew, and I still do.

So. What am I getting at? What does this show me about the relationship between Ashley and Andrew?

(I also wanted to point out that Andrew does engage in DARVO too but I didn't want to distract from the behavior of the mother. Unlike what Andrew does, it doesn't require someone to reassess the narrative they have towards the game in order to realize the implications of it, whereas it's pretty easy to justify Andrew's words as not qualifying as DARVO if you buy into the narrative that he's the sole victim and/or that Ashley is the main perpetrator of abuse. A friend of mine pointed out that it's a pretty key part of the push/pull dynamic they have, and I completely agree.

However, the direct comparisons to the behavior of the mother can't be ignored no matter your narrative, so I felt as if I needed to highlight that more.)

EDIT OVER

It shows me that their relationship is all about control.

Specifically, the push and pull of who controls who in any given situation.

Andrew weaponizes his incompetence. He always looks to lay the blame on Ashley. This is drawn attention to several times, and said explicitly in the Decay route.

He is always surrendering control to her, and yet he never HAS to. He could always just say no. He could always refuse. What are the consequences? Her being upset? Well, unfortunately, it's not that easy. That's not how abuse dynamics work. He probably feels like he has to, or rather, feels like there's no other option. That he's in too deep, and stuck with her no matter what. But personally, I think it's pretty clear from his willingness to surrender control to Ashley that he still feels like he has it at points, because the moment he feels like he's about to lose it, he either considers violence, even as a child-

(the actual scene of slicing her finger is pretty sus too with this reading in mind)

-or resorts to it, outright, in both the choking scene and the vision in the Decay ending... when Ashley doesn't have enough bullets to defend herself (this will be important later!).

SO WHAT POINT AM I TRYING TO MAKE??? AM I JUST MAKING ABUSE APOLOGIA (the answer may surprise you)?

No. I don't think so.

Ashley is obviously very bad. She's controlling and uses pretty textbook abuse and entrapment tactics on Andrew whereas everything he does to her is inference, with Ashley too daft to realize just how much danger she's in until the vision in the Decay ending spells it out for her- and I don't know if a true abuse dynamic allows for one to be completely unaware of the consequences of breaking free. She could just let go of her desire for control and Andrew would be a much happier person.

And that's the point, because so would she.

I bring up control because that push and pull- that desire for control over each other- is exactly what's tearing their relationship apart, and this effect most obviously manifests in the two endings of episode 2. In the Decay ending, Ashley either tries to exert control over Andrew due to a lack of trust, or Andrew allows his feelings of entrapment to truly take root in his mind and guide his actions. In the Decay ending, Andrew becomes a true doormat with no will of his own, allowing his feelings of bitterness and resentment to fester and grow, eventually resulting in their deaths.

In the Burial ending, Andrew does the exact opposite. He takes control of the situation and does exactly what Ashley would do without much of a fuss. This eventually culminates in THAT scene (assuming you take the Questionable route), where his facial expression alone speaks volumes:

Look at how fucking confident this man is. This is not the face of someone who's unsure of himself; this is the face of someone who knows exactly what he wants and takes it. He is absolutely in control of this situation, and everyone is happier for it.

And what does Ashley have to do to get this ending?

Let's go back to Decay for a moment. If Ashley has bullets in her gun, she has control over the situation. She, at any point, could put an end to Andrew and survive. And yet, at the very end of it all, she could choose not to. She could choose to surrender control to Andrew, allowing herself to die. And that ending, I believe so much of his life and willpower will have decayed that there's nothing left for him to take control of, leaving him no choice- or rather, no use for the control he now has- but to die with her.

And in the Burial ending, she has to let him out of his cage before it's too late. She has to surrender control to him, and when she does-

-He will become everything she ever needed him to be.

It's all about her surrendering control, and it's all about him taking control. Because, no matter what, as long as that happens... the two of them will be together forever.

In life...

...or in death.

How romantic.

So no, the incest end is not the fucking bad end. They're going to be together forever in the end either way, so they might as well live through it.

Your anger and sadness are so fucking justified. Stealing someone's oc is ridiculous. There's NO need to do that! You don't even need that much creativity to make your own, and if you're really stuck (like I get sometimes) just look towards canon characters or blogs dedicated to help building ocs. What's worse is tumblr's blocking system because, unless you block them on anon, it simply blocks their blog. They can log out and still view your blog! God I'm so sorry that this happened.

thank you 😭😭 i'm like so just horrifically angry right now that idk if i'm overreacting or if i was seeing things that weren't there, but no, the more i look and the more i match up the timeline of posts, it becomes extremely apparent to me that their oc is a copy of diana, and that really really hurts. and yes, i've cried a lot about it, because i talk about her so often and how much she means to me and how much just creative energy she gave me this year and the fact that i even write consistently now, so it hurts. i put a lot into her, so it's just really unfair, and like you said, blocking people on here is like hardly even effective
