Videos like American Reacts To Rugby! is always them watching compilation videos titled “Rugby’s Hardest Hits!” and then it’s a bunch of illegal tackles that caused injuries that led to red or yellow cards and then they’re like “oh I’m a fan, I’m a fan”; a fan of violence maybe.

Real fans don’t like those hits, it leads to serious injuries, disrupts the flow of the game and if hits like those happen often there’s no longevity in the sport for players.

g1deon and pyrrha + gideon and harrow throughlines scattered in all of tlt continue to drive me insane.

the initial investigation scenes post the 5th deaths where the 2nd house tries to pull cohort rank control of the situation, gideon & harrow immediately sneak away to learn that the winnowing trial was developed by the second house and cohort founders, g1deon & pyrrha. winnowing as incorporating the other, refusing distractions for the sake of true control, loyalty and duty.

gideon is wearing his sunglasses, rifling through their things. she doesn’t see it as a real place someone would live in, only a stop along the way to somewhere else, more whole.

she sees a gun on the wall that her mother's ghost will use the river memory of to try and kill harrow in the dream of cannan house:

It took Gideon a long time to realise that she was looking at something goddamn ancient: it was a blowback carbine gun. She’d only ever seen pictures. ….. The hairs on the back of Gideon’s neck had risen when the lights came on, and they hadn’t gone back down, as if her intrusion might well tempt time back to claim its grave goods. GTN chapter 19

Carbine rifle, read the key. For a moment she pitied Judith Deuteros’s last seconds. To be killed with this ancient piece of grave goods! It would have been like being set upon by a ghost out of time. HTN chapter 18

gideon reads "one flesh, one end" for the first time. she tells harrow these people were living in each others pockets, the same phrase she'll later use to describe the two of them. pyrrha spent nearly 10,000 years locked in a drawer in gideon the first’s mind bc he couldn't bear to let her go. gideon tells harrow how they feel like strangers despite growing up together.

harrow cant stand the thought and in less than a month harrow will lock gideon in a drawer and gideon the first will relentlessly try to kill harrow in her waking hours to spare her the agony he'll never learn is closely parallel to his, and when she fails to hear his real name her brain starts bleeding:

g1deon was john’s oldest friend, he carried that suitcase in his loyalty to him. then he becomes an amnesiac, immortal thanergy void, absorbing and nullifying the echoes of that catastrophe. founding the cohort that flips planets in the exact mirror to the ecological tragedy they all sacrificed everything to spare earth from. over and over again.

in g+p’s room harrow says that theyre all the ninth house has ( = you’re all that i have). gideon firmly says shes "NO ONE'S son or daughter"

but in less than a year gideon’s mother, sitting opposite her father, will recognize pyrrha with a sense of profound relief before her revenant is unceremoniously killed. gideon will watch through harrows eyes, in hiding:

Harrow, I will never forget the look on her face as long as I live, or as long as I die. (…) It was the smile for your old cellmate who’d just landed back in prison, the one that told them at least you were in it together—or more correctly, the smile of someone stepping out of jail after serving a very long sentence, having seen someone there waiting for her. i don’t have a conclusion to this rn i’m just……much to think abt. the displacement of grief, the loyalty through control, how it just happens over and over and over again and they just bear witness as tools or trapped souls or revenants, clinging to anything they can even if they don’t remember it.

mostly the Simon Snow Trilogy, but I have a couple of Greek Mythology/Epic Cycle fanfics too. i used to write for Percy Jackson and Marve, but not anymore.

well a lot of my fics have fairly happy endings, but I’d say All That She Wants, an Agatha-centric fic, and Happier Memories, a proposal fic, have the most hopeful endings.

no, I don’t think I ever have, luckily!

only twice so far, though I have another stewing in my brain that might get written. I can’t really say i'm limited to a certain “type” though, i’m pretty versatile, pun intended.

no, they’re not really my thing.

not to my knowledge! i hope not.

back when i used to write on wattpad i got some DMs asking to translate my fics and i always agreed, but i don’t know if they ever followed through.

yes, i really love doing so! I wrote a stucky fic with one of my friends years ago, but we never ended up posting it anywhere. also, the two aforementioned marvel fics were co-written with another (now ex) friend, and the tale of two merwolves was written as part of a group.

14. What’s your all time favourite ship?

snowbaz, definitely. it’s been my longest-running OTP (do people still say OTP?) and i’ve written so any fics for it.

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

hmm, i’ve only got 3 wips and i think i’ll finish them all eventually, but blow on the tinder and we are slaves to the gods are definitely on the back burner for now.

16. What are your writing strengths?

i’ve been told i’m good at writing dialogue, which is good because that’s two thirds of all the words i write.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

descriptions and anything sappy, which gives me second hand embarrassment.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

i tend to shy away from it, but if i do i always put it in italics and will put a translation in the notes unless it’s super obvious, and like when other authors do the same.

19. First fandom you wrote for?

Percy Jackson! I wrote so much solangelo and was actually pretty popular on wattpad, one of my fics broke a million hits which is still insane to me. i still get the occasional message asking me to come back and finish my fics, but i logged out of that account in 2018 and am not going back.

20. Favorite fic you’ve written?

oh, that’s hard. i’m really enjoying writing Shoulder To Shoulder right now, but i still love All That She Wants and Liar Liar. i also really love I’m On My Way To Believing, which is a greek mythology Pyrrhus/Hermione fic. they’re my blorbos. but i’d have to say my all-time favourite will always have to be the first carry on fic i ever wrote, which got me out of a years long writing slump: Rats.

Only 2 short shippy prompts all month! All 4 modern girls got a couple spotlights, various family cameos and backstories, a future prompt as is tradition, Zaine had a few posts, a few NPC-only scenes, a LOT of Endwalker, and even Ancient Icarus got a story, tying into 2021's "Destruct" prompt and how/why the siblings' souls have been connected through time and reincarnations.

A few of these are alternate takes on scenes I've touched on before, but it's interesting what a new prompt at a different time can get one to say, how we change as writers in what we focus on and how we say it.

This comes in roughly 300 words shorter than last year, at 18,493. The week of the 18-22 I had off work for my birthday, and that had the most 1k+ prompts, with a word count nearly double the other 3 full weeks. While the longer prompts are good, I'm really happy with how so many of the short ones turned out!

I was again trying to be realistic about my time, energy, not pushing free write days...and also working on an original writing project on the side, so I actually did do more writing over the month, just not FFXIV related!

(Also why some of my responses were in just under the wire...)

But this was a good break and exercise from that other writing, and let me try a few new things.

And comparing to earlier years--especially 2017 and 2018 when I was getting back onto the writing horse and feeling out my OCs--I feel like my growth as a writer, especially to be more succinct yet still evocative when needed, is evident. I've gotten a lot of practice in over time, and this challenge is one of the things that helped me get to where I can write an original story on top of my fanfic!

"Grave" honestly could have been a lot shorter; I started the plot too early, and much as I like Zaine making one last visit to his childhood Nana, for the purposes of the challenge, I could have just focused on going to the lichyard to save myself time and energy, and wrote about the visit on my own another time. On the other hand, it's done now!

Not sure which is a favorite; there's a lot I like.

16. what are your writing strengths? i like to think my prose is complicated enough to sound professional but not so over the top that my writing isn’t easily digestible. i feel like i can write dialogue pretty well too

17. what are your writing weaknesses? i feel like i have a problem with repeating myself lol. like i use the same conjunctions a lot. and i struggle with action/fight sequences but i feel like i’m getting better at those the more i write them (i didn’t write them at all really until i started writing TES fics)

18. thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic? i mean. i feel like this is so situational. if the dialogue is crucial to the plot and it’s going to be a chore to make the average reader look up what it is? i don’t really care for it. but if it’s something off handed that doesn’t really change the plot or is more of a funny joke that a reader can get by either A) happening to speak the language or B) going out of their way to look it up and in that situation it’s more of a fun little bonus and not needed for them to understand the story beat that it’s a part of.

19. first fandom you wrote for? one piece. in 2013. lol

20. favorite fic you’ve written? i really really like somewhere the light won’t reach us. it’s a character study of a TES oc so it’s honestly closer to an original work than it is a fanfiction but i think it turned out really nice. i also think liebesfreud is a really good story and i'm in the process of making it into an original novel (with different character names obv)

i've said before that it is completely out of line to look at a person recounting painful memories of childhood abuse and then bring up their past mistakes and i'm standing by that. i know some of you are going to jump on me for saying "mistakes" but this isn't me trivializing. this is me looking at things in context.

i haven't seen these supposed sources where they say drake bell's victim admitted to lying. i looked at news sources from the time and looked at statements given and haven't seen it anywhere in there that she admitted to lying, which i would assume would be front page news. if anyone wants to direct me to something verifiable that isn't part of a tiktok conspiracy, i would be interested. i have seen that bell wasn't convicted of actually touching the girl and they found no evidence of pictures ever being sent. the internet keeps vaguely saying the girl stalked him before and lied about her age and i don't know how true that is. it's always reprehensible to groom children and there isn't a justification for that. a few years ago i might agree with commentators saying "you don't just not know that someone is 12" but i worked at space camp for the past few years and there were a few times where i was looking for my assigned group and was told that the group that i'd assumed were 17 and 18 year olds (because they were taller than me and more muscular or filled out) were actually 12 and were actually my assigned group. idk what they're putting in the water but i assume it's these damn tiktok beauty standards. and i often have the opposite problem - when i was 16, people would assume i was 13. now that i'm 29, people assume i'm 19-14. i have a friend in her mid20s who is constantly mistaken for a 10 year old boy. it is fucking hard to tell how old someone is and if it's true that she was in his shows which were meant to be 18+ he'd have no reason to know her age. i've seen commentators state he immediately broke off contact when learning about her age.

i want to give benefit of the doubt in this case. i want to believe that the apology given was with complete accountability and remorse. imagining being in his position and realizing he may have contributed to an unsafe situation on par with one he himself experienced may have been a huge wake up call for him. i want to remind everyone though that we are not called on to forgive drake bell. we're not the wronged party in the case. the only one who can give forgiveness is the victim and victims do not owe that.

and with that i feel i should say that i can unfortunately believe that the domestic violence accusations may be true. the timeline seems to match up with the years immediately following what happened with him, the years he'd be more likely to flounder and struggle with the secret he was keeping. who knows what unprocessed trauma he was living with? it doesn't make it okay by any means (and again we are not the ones tasked with "forgiving" him and victims don't even owe that) but it makes a certain sense in context. i do think drake bell needs to come forward and tell people to stop attacking his ex on social media because come the fuck on. just because someone went through something horrific doesn't mean they can't do fucked up shit. i know i've done fucked up shit and i've worked through it as best i can. internet harassment and hate campaigns are not the way, but we didn't learn that lesson with amber heard (who i 100% believe sorry not sorry).

i think we need to move on from this mentality of holding people (particularly child stars) up on pedestals then dragging them down when they do fucked up shit. i have to believe people can change and grow. i'm willing to give people the benefit of the doubt so long as a pattern doesn't emerge. we need to move on from thinking that there is a "perfect" victim or that if someone has transgressed in later life that means their victimhood doesn't matter. we can mourn the child that drake bell was. we can mourn the child that amanda bynes was. we can mourn the person that all these people could be if they weren't swallowed by this cesspit. that is a separate conversation from talking about the ways they fucked up after coming out of that environment irreparably damaged.

leave behind the mentality that to show compassion for another human being is the same as "forgiving" them. and move on from the mentality that you personally are the one wronged when these people's lives have nothing to do with you.

Becoming one with the wild fae was a tradition passed on from parent to child. The fact that your birth was kept a secret from the mortal plane for centuries comes as a surprise one morning. You’re traveling with a satchel filled with glass crafts you plan on selling to a few mortal women. Your wings flutter over your shoulders draping across your collarbone. Clothed in nothing but a long pair of pants and tunic you continue walking along the illuminated path.

“It’s best to stay where the sunshine graces your shoulders,” wise words spoken to you from your father. He tightens the strings of a day cloak over before giving you a once over; your mother does the same as she hands you a list of items she needed you to purchase for the family apothecary shop.

Off you went on your short journey. It doesn’t take very long for you to come across the familiar village where the mortals who have grown accustomed to your kind have their market set up for the week. The town square is abuzz with buyers and merchants showcasing their goods like fresh produce as well as other meats from the butcher’s shop. You begin to read over your mother’s list as you pass one of the various florist vendor stalls.

“One loaf of sourdough, one dozen eggs, and one small wheel of sheep’s milk cheese,” you whisper.

An upturn of your lips causes you to mutter an amused, “two more books from Master Suguru’s shop.”

Beep. Beep. Beep. WAKE UP YN. Beep. Beep. Beep.

Your groggy body slowly stirs in an attempt to silence the annoying sound of your alarm clock. You blame your knuckleheaded roommate, whom you've known for the better half of the last five years, on a night you were knocking back a few bottles of cold sake changing your old alarm to this one. Yes, it was a quite dreadful sound of hearing Geto Suguru yelling your name at you and his best friend since high school, Gojo Satoru, did the god awful ‘beeps’.

Groaning once your hand flops over toward your night table, you abruptly silence your alarm, still with your eyes closed. Your queen-sized mattress has been draped in the pale sunlight of daybreak, yet you are still wrapped quite snugly in your blanket.

The dream you had had overnight was so vivid you might have enough memory to blindly type on your phone the major key points of your ‘dream day.’ Apparently dream jumping was an inherited trait your uncle might’ve completely introduced you to when you had turned nineteen last year.

Once you relock your phone, you toss your phone halfway across the empty side of your bed. You roll over with your back on the mattress and with a slight squint you stifle a yawn.

“Mm, too early,” your words make some sense as you rub the corners of your eyes.

Making a direct guess as to what time and day it was, you sit up and begin to make your way out of the comfort of your bed. You begin your morning routine complete with a five minute meditation and sun-salutation yoga poses, you make your way to the master bathroom in your flat. As you begin to disrobe, you turn the shower head on and step into the tub. The water and steady stream from the shower ease your warmed up muscles as you contemplate about the future. Perhaps the dream was a warning one, once you had hoped to share with a certain classmate. (The flat was gifted to you from your uncle as a belated birthday and graduation present last year.) As a housewarming celebration, you invited your classmates from the tech school you had transferred into in your first year–you all were taught to enhance the unnatural gifts you were given to give humanity a fighting chance against curses. You snicker in the shower as you finish lathering up your body only to rinse away the suds leaving behind a scent of wispy citrus flowers. When you wrap the towel around upper torso, you begin to dress yourself. You wonder what, if any, your subconscious will cause you to dream once more.

Over the course of the next five or so years, you had been dispatched on missions with Geto more times than you can count on both hands; there other times Gojo (along with Shoko) would accompany the both of you. However, as this time of peace certainly came, you had picked up on the increase in your heart rate when Geto would even look your way. Perhaps the missions were meant to draw you two closer, you think as you are disrobed and the warm water from the showerhead hits your shoulders. Maybe if life would treat you with a little luck today, you could confront the man with your ramblings of, ‘do you feel like i feel when we’re together?’

Halfway across the town, a young man was walking back into his dormitory after a morning sparring session with his best friend. The only other reason why Geto Suguru woke up this early was because he too had a haunting nightmare: a curse who would take advantage of the bodies of the dead and absorb their cursed energy to be weaponized was something even he in his dream could not put asunder. Regardless from the prophetic fall from grace themed dream, Geto proceeds to the showers of his dorm floor in hopes to see you in the dining hall after mid-morning classes conclude.

Thankfully he didn’t have to wait long. You had arrived maybe ten minutes prior while he was still preparing for your outing wearing jeans and a loose button down white shirt. There, stitched in the shirt pocket was a solar eclipse for the brand. Perhaps without prying into precognitive nature too much, you would’ve never guessed how an eclipse suited the young man in front of you.

Well, Geto did text you last night asking if you could hang out today. There was a resting period between missions and Gojo had to resolve some family issues, yet when you asked about Shoko, Geto rolls his shoulders saying she picked up more shifts at the local clinic.

“…so it’s just us two,” he says as he ties his licorice hair.

He does this maneuver with such precision where you can’t tell if he’s trying to flex his muscles or that’s just how he naturally chooses to tie his hair; the white undershirt strains against his body slightly while his uniform pants remained a bit tailored to his form. His shoes though are the same colored flats as yours (also a school issued pair, but were the most comfortable footwear each of you owned).

You observe him and you sort of chuckle at the face he makes when attempting to tie his hair in a bun.

“Y’ know I could braid it for you later,” you mention this, teasing him with a weird hand gesture.

Geto scoffs.

“You just can’t leave my poor bun in peace, huh?”

“Nope!”

You teasingly smile before nudging his shoulder mentioning the old record store in the historic village will be opening up soon.

“Music heals the soul,” you repeat what your uncle said after he took you in. Considering you were a minor at the time and you moved to a larger city, your guardians thought it would be best to send you away for a little while after your first accidental curse exorcism.

Geto heard you and as you walk past an open window of the dorms, he takes a few seconds pause to admire the silhouette you created. Maybe this incessant firefly feeling in his stomach would settle by the time you both reached the town plaza where the record store was—but first, you both required some breakfast, hence you stop by a bakery for some milk bread and coffee.

The morning brings with it a strong sense of busyness: there are school children with their uniforms on running to catch the next bus, others are walking in a higher pace; some adults are talking loudly as they briskly walk past you trying to race against their work-clock; then there were the couples or families with either a pet or a young babe swaddled in a carrier going out on their morning errands.

Observing all these paths of life around you, you begin to feel a sense of unease. Leaves blow in the wind in the surrounding trees as Geto continues talking about how Gojo and Shoko want to go to the beach in the summer. You blindly agree as you try to knock out the shade making its way toward your friend’s back.

“Not today,” you mumble as you gently tap Geto’s shoulder.

“Obviously not today, yn,” he laughs. “Today is just a me and you day, right?”

He smiles at you so serenely it’s frightening. You don’t know why nor how just yet, but patience comes easy too once you enter the old record shop. It seems comprised of shining cardboard that would hide secrets in the vinyl records. There was a phonogram with an aptly labeled ‘DO NOT TOUCH’ sign on a table by the register.

The aisles were divided up first by genre, then by artist. A tradition since your first year when you discounted this shop was to choose the albums to listen to on the sample CROSBY record player toward the end of the store. You part ways with Geto right as you enter because today you are subconsciously drawn to the jazz aisle and pull the London philharmonic copy of ‘Rhapsody in Blue’, then you went to find a copy of Florence and the Machine’s album with ‘Dog Days are Over’ on it, and lastly a copy of ‘Danny’s Song’ by Loggins & Messina.

Ten minutes later, Geto approaches you with his three albums. A softer grin is plastered on his face when you are lingering near, like now. In his mind, he can recall his classmates Gojo and Shoko sort of teasing him about the glances he’d throw your way. One blissfully warm summer day, you were studying in the library, attempting to write a short essay on the history of dreams and dreamwalkers. All these books were scattered about the table and you’re furiously writing away to hardly notice Geto wandering about the library (a trick and trap set up by Gojo and followed by Shoko by lunch time). Geto hears you utter your next words under your breath, however as he wanders closer to you, he hears you clear as day:

“Sure, Gojo Satoru and Ieri Shoko get me in trouble and I have to write this damn essay to appease the principal…” your lips turn up into a mischievous smile. “O’course those two never realized I can see those curses they’re trying so hard to exorcize.”

You sit back when you hear another person collide with the bookcase, the yelp made you turn your head to lock eyes with a surprised (and yet embarrassed) Geto.

“You alright there?” you ask.

“Mm,” he was straining against the stubbed toe pain.

“...You sure? You don’t seem alright, umm…who are you again?”

Inhaling a deep breath and upon the exhale, Geto gives you a toothy grin as he approached your table.

“Geto. Geto Suguru,” he extends his hand to you.

“YLN, Yn,” you shake his hand.

Since that day, you decided to spend the rest of the afternoon speaking with one another thus forming another bond of friendship in the library of your school. Oh, and the paper you wrote (for extra credit) you received full marks. Not so bad for a dreamwalker, huh? You think to yourself as you rub the essay marks in front of Gojo’s nose. Geto chuckles as he looks between you and Gojo who teases you for being so wicked smart.

Flash forward to the present, in your hand Geto’s records remain. You find yourself smirking a bit as you hold a copy of My Funny Valentine by Chet Baker, Half-Breed from Cher, and a random a BabyMetal album. Raising a brow at the ever charming friend who just laughs when you grumble a ‘seriously?’ under your breath, you decide to give these records a listen.

A message was hidden in Geto’s choices for you: you being born into the subjugated world of dreamwalkers and sorceres made the Cher song more obvious (and when you heard the lyrics, you seemed ok with the choice since the insult was turned into a powerful statement piece); the rhythm of the Doki Doki ☆ Morning by BabyMetal made your heart beat race like you were running a marathon (you’re not one to be startled so early in the day); and when you finally hear the Chet Baker classic, you feel a tap on your shoulder. Turning around, you see Geto looking off to the side past your shoulder. He looks quite shy and sort of folding into helpless devotion toward you; it’s a weird feeling. An odd one, when your hands brush and you take the initiative of lacing your fingers together.

“Funny Valentine, huh?” You tease.

He smirks. “I didn’t think I’d be able to confess otherwise.”

“Same here.”

“Is that why you snuck in ‘Danny’s Song?’ Y/N, you should have told me sooner.”

Your features are flushed with hints of apple pink as you try to pull away only to feel Geto’s hand hold your a little more firmly. You don’t need to overthink this development either since you see the sincerity in his countenance. The feeling is mutual.

Geto pulls you closer to him only to have wrapped an arm around your waist where you naturally brought your free hand to stretch across his broader shoulders. You both, under the tutelage of Chet Baker, begin to dance slowly around the near empty aisle of the record shop.

The song ends and when you stop your dancing, you realize how this morning’s dream lacked the soundtrack of love. Geto still holds you when you lean forward to rest your forehead against his.

“Is this alright?” your voice is barely above a whisper, yet he hears you.

Geto nods and a few strands of his hair fall from his well kept bun. He lets go of your hand only to caress your jaw. Your breathing is almost as shallow and non-existent as his.

“If I have a secret, will you promise not to tell?” he inquires.

You whisper a soft, “yes.”

Soft and curious lips are pursed against yours. You don’t freeze, yet time around you does. It is quick and deliberate and filled with warmth. Geto Suguru, the voice that calls your name to wake up, kisses you like he might not see you again. When he withdraws from you, you pout though he smiles.

“Pretty yn,” his thumb smooths over your cheek again.

“Suguru,” you warn him with an annoyed pout. “There’s people watching.”

“Then I suggest we head back to your place, hmm?” He pecks your nose before removing himself from you as he heads to the exit of the shop. Chet Baker and his famous single had ended minutes ago, yet you realize another song, ‘let love in’ from the goo goo dolls begins its chorus the moment you choose to chase your dear crush outside. Geto chuckles at you before pulling you back into his arms to have you settle in front of him as he peppers kisses down every ounce of exposed skin his lips can reach. You are clutching on to his forearms for balance, giddy at his display of affection.

When you arrive back to your flat, you unlock the door with determined ease, Geto follows you from behind only to lock the deadbolt. You both remove your shoes in haste to continue exploring how far you are willing to go tonight. You extend a hand to Geto, lifting him up from the small step of the genkan and like an obedient dog, he is loyal to his companion.

The moment Geto sees your familiar couch, he sits down, his thighs turn rigid against the fabric of his pants, thus creating a perfect seat for you when you decide to straddle him.

He smiles up at you as you adjust yourself and with a shuddering breath, he waits for you to settle down before the urge to kiss you senseless is lost to him. Your arms rests against either side of his head and with a look of finality, you pick up from where you left off on the sidewalk. How tantalizing slow are you when you initiate this kiss again; Geto doesn’t know where to place his hands other than your waist, yet he loses himself in the way you pry open his mouth with the muscle of your tongue. You taste his teeth when he makes this muddled groan; you don’t mean to make him fall further into the depths of his emotions for you, yet you do so effortlessly.

Geto learns quickly to reciprocate your emotions when he lets his hands travel higher to massage your scalp; he slightly tugs on your hair and the unabashed moan you let escape your lips gave him enough time to say, “you like that, huh?”

“Mm,” your eyes contain within them dilated pupils. You’re addicted to this state of being with him.

“So am I.”

Geto drops his hands from your hair the moment he lunges upward and forward to capture your lips again; this kiss is volatile and loud and messy. So messy, you untie his hair only to tangle it between your fingers the instant Geto leaves your lips only to kiss down your jawline, past your pulse point, nearly ripping the collar off of your shirt to leave a bite mark below your ear.

“Take this off for me,” he instructs, hands fiddling with your shirt.

“You first,” you challenge, biting his jugular in teasing fashion.

He snarls from the pain, yet when you soothe the ache left behind, he notices his shirt is already completely undone.

“My yn is so clever,” he says the moment he shimmies off his shirt to toss it aside.

You feel his white hot hands caress your lower back, the fabric caught against his pinching fingers. Your left hand presses against his pectoral for balance and stability a moment; you inhale slowly and exhale even slower when you notice his eyes flutter shut in front of you. There is a coolness to your touch he finds satisfying, yet his hands never truly leave your exposed hips nor lower back. Leaning back a bit, you let him remove your shirt as well, up and over your head. He sits back admiring your form only to spread his legs a little wider to accommodate your straddle position.

“Like what you see?” you tilt your head to one side.

“C’mere,” Geto impulsively beckons you forward only to have you settle above his hips the moment his back rests comfortably on the couch seats.

You’re still atop him, surprised by this development. His hair is spread wildly around his shoulders and in the height of this impassioned minute, you hyperfixate on a scar near his clavicle.

“What happened here?” you are curious with a hard pressed line on your lips.

“Ah, that,” Geto sort of chortles when your cool fingertips trace over the scar lithely. “That came from a mission before we met.”

You bent down to press a reassuring kiss there, the kind that would soothe a child, one that makes Geto move to have you lay there on top of him for a short while. He tells you stories of his missions with Gojo and sometimes Shoko is there too.

This is the Geto you know, the kind classmate who, despite the odds, is a fiercely proud defender and willing to help people regardless of monetary status. You stay comfortably wrapped in his embrace, talking about your adventure in dreamworlds. Your dream from this morning was forgotten up until you mentioned the name of the shopkeeper.

Geto gives you a surprised look. His onyx colored eyes blink at you while he caresses your exposed shoulder.

“You dream of me?”

“Of a previous life,” you reply. “I wouldn’t know if this Suguru from slumberland would woo a person like me.”

He chuckles at that.

“But this one,” his free hand holds your cheek firmly so your eyes reflect each other. “This one will always remember the friend who made me a fool.”

A swift pressed kiss before you nodded off to sleep side by side on your couch. Whispered words of lyrics from the day are swirling around both his and your consciousness until the evening breaks.

Perhaps being a dreamwalker and a sorcerer does have its perks, yet no one would have been prepared for the sorcerer to lose his wits when the days of dreaming ended.

I’m Mallory (people call me Mal a lot) I’m a goofy ahh autistic 21 year old

I’m not in college but I’ve been working for nearly a year now! It takes up half of my time but I’m still free decently often.

I like to draw, write, make OCs and self inserts, play video games, sing and listen to music. I sometimes post my art and characters occasionally but not often on here. (I should tho)

Dad Bod

I’m turning 29 this year. I’d say I have a dad bod.

When my dad was 27, my mum drew me a picture book by hand, called “Daddy’s gone on a bike”.

I don’t remember a time where I didn’t know about Our Heavenly Father. That term has always been a threat.

When I was 9 (or 8 or 10, I don’t recall) my dad took me fishing. He only took me once. I didn’t have the patience to stand there on the bank the way he did. But I almost caught a trout, and I saw a flounder in the river near the mouth.

We stood on the shore, a stone’s throw from where his dad sat in his chair in his house, watching the races. His dad has sat there watching the races as long as either of us remember. Probably on the night he became my dad’s dad, even though it was Christmas Eve, he was watching the races. I can’t imagine him anywhere else.

When I was 14 I fell for a boy who looked the most like a grown man out of anyone I knew. He was 15, nearly 16, and he had more body hair then than I do now. At least in my memory.

When I was 15 I was dating a boy who was 17. Not that one. When I told him to stop, he did, but then he told me about the maths he’d done. How much, according to the bible, it would cost to buy me off my dad and marry me if he raped me. He never raped me. He did propose to me on my 16th birthday. I broke up with him by telling him I was a lesbian, a lie I would believe for the next few years, unless I was lonely or a boy was smiling at me.

When I was in my 20s, my friends and I ritually destroyed the ring and put it in a glass jar with an animal skeleton. I think it was a hedgehog.

When I was 18, I realised I wanted kids. I never wanted to be called Mum.

When I was 19, I realised I wasn’t a woman, and that made that easier.

I was still 19 when I met the first dad I wanted to be when I got old. He wears one of those flat caps, and he gave me my first dnd miniature. I broke up with his child a couple of years later and haven’t seen him since.

For the next few years I was harassed regularly by a church who would ask me “if there’s a God the Father, mustn’t there be a God the Mother” I told them I think god is beyond gender, or is a gender we cannot comprehend.

Secretly, I wonder now if He just likes being a father. If we understood Him perfectly when we capitalised His pronouns.

But I don’t really know if I believe in god.

When I was 23, just before my hands stopped letting me finger her properly, a woman I was sleeping with asked me if it’d be okay if she called me Daddy.

I wasn’t sure I was okay with that, and she never did.

She did text me dirty messages while I sat in a chair next to my dad and my dad’s dad, hoping nobody noticed me blushing and secretly wishing my grandparents house still didn’t get signal.

The races were on.

The year before, my then-fiance-now-girlfriend started calling me her Husband.

I really liked that.

I’d like to be a husband. I’d like to be a husband who kisses husbands and wives – mine or somebody else’s. I’m not fussy.

I’d like to be a Dad.

When I was a kid, and I couldn’t sleep, and neither could my Dad, I’d wander out into the living room and stand behind the couch like a shadow, watching the movie he was watching. He knew I was there, but I’ve always been like my Dad, and we both had insomnia, and he didn’t mind.

Both of us have an easier time sleeping nowadays.

I still watch TV with him late at night, in silence unless one of us has a comment about whatever’s on.

I still think he might send me to bed when the movie gets racy.

I don’t know if my body and brain will ever let me be a Dad. I’m disabled, and infertile and gay and trans and it’s always possible a miracle will strike and I’ll find a kid.

Or maybe…

I have a mug that says No.1 Dad on it, from a friend whose father sucks, who I love.

When I was 19 and I came out as trans I stood on the deck and told someone my new name nervously, and now they’re a Papa, to many animals, and in a way to me.

I know another trans man who has several children he wasn’t biologically involved in, scattered across the country and the world, people he’s adopted when they needed him most.

When I look in the mirror, I see my uncles, who people mistake for my Dad all the time.

I have hair on my face and my body that I can see in the shower.

My legs stick out beneath my olive green shorts, hairy and thick, like the legs of a dad, if such a thing makes sense to you.

I’d say I have a dad bod. Even at 28 and childless. Maybe that’s all that matters.

Liking the idea of being a dad, and knowing that when people use your pronouns they’re doing it right.

If it's good enough for God, right?

The Fate Of Sodapop

NOTES

Takes place 2 years after the outsiders

This based off the story that Rob Lowe asked SE Hinton what happened to Sodapop after the book and she replied He dies in Vietnam.

Pony, now 16, knows how Dally and Johnny felt when they die, 16 years isn’t long enough. Most of his writing now consists of memories of Johnny and Dally and characters based off them. Darry sure is easier on him in the yelling at him. Pony saids the world is different now, the Socs and Greasers war is nearly over. 2 years ago, the fight got too far, 2 socs left the fight, Bob and Randy, and three greasers, Dally, Johnny, and Pony.

“Steve, ya hear the US joined the war in Vietnam” Soda ran in from outside the DX.

“Yeah, why are you asking are you thinking about joining?” Steve replied

“I mean I guess, I need to talk to Super Dope about it because Pony has been through so much between Momma, and Pops, Johnny, and Dally.” Soda said quietly. Tulsa has definitely been quieter since that night two falls ago. Pony’s nightmares are definitely worse than before.

As Soda gets home, he sees a familiar face on the steps along with a not so familiar baby. “Sandy?” Soda calls out.

Sandy snaps her head in Soda’s direction “Hey Soda…so umm well meet Sammy” she replies nervously.

From what Soda can tell the baby is about two years old and looks like how he did when he was that age, “Is he mine” Soda replied with a blank expression.

“I’m pretty sure” Sandy replied

“You don’t know who’s kid that is” Soda said shocked “can I hold him”

“Sure” she said giving him to him.

“Hey Buddy, I’ll be your dad if it’s on with your mom, my name is Sodapop Curtis” Soda saids to the baby.

Darry walks up holding his back, “Pepsi-Cola, who’s the kid?”

“Hey Darry, we need to talk.”Soda saids signaling Sandy to take Sam and leave.

“What is it, Sode?”

“Ok so, this is gonna be a lot. First off, I want to enlist to fight in Vietnam. Secondly, Sandy thinks that kid I was holding is mine and I did the timeframe in my head and the dates are close.” Soda saids slowly so Darry can catch all of it.

“The ‘nam thing, you need to talk to Pone about that, because he’s the one who’s lost his two best friends and his parents two years ago and the baby thing you can take paternal responsibility for it and never get a paternity test or get a paternity test and if the test says he’s yours you can raise him. ” Darry saids wisely.

“I’ll talk to Pony and I’ll just raise him I don’t care about blood because the gang is our family and they ain’t blood.” Soda saids walking in the house.

Soda knocks on the door to the room that he and Ponyboy shares, he walks in “Hey Pony, can we talk?” Soda asks

“Uh yeah sure. ” Pony saids putting his book down.

“So I don’t know if they talked to you in your history class today about the war in Vietnam.” Soda saids “How would you feel if I joined the war?”

“Soda, you do you just know that’s your life you’re putting on the line and I’ll miss you but if you really want to you should.” Pony replies picking his book back up.

Soda and Sandy meet up at the Dingo for dinner.

“I don’t care what Sam’s blood is, I will raise him, if you will allow me.” Soda starts “And I enlisted to go to ‘Nam I leave out in two days, will you wait on me? I would love to date you again Sandy. If you would date me?”

“I- Soda, you just told me you want to father my son, then you told me you are leaving for war in two day, and then you asked me to date you in that order” Sandy said “I’ll think about it.”

Two days later

Darry and Pony drive Soda to the airport to fly to whatever military base his reporting to.

Three months later

At this point, Soda has been gone for months and still no one has gotten a letter and has stopped hoping for a letter.

Six months later

Still no word from Soda and man is Tulsa really quiet now.

One year (march 30) later

Darry scans through the mail and one catches his eye. It reads “US ARMY ATTEN. DARREL CURTIS”

Darry quickly opens the letter and it reads “We regret to inform you that your brother Sodapop Patrick Curtis has been kill in action on March twenty-fifth, nineteen-seventy. His body is MIA, but we can confirm that he is dead.

Again I am sorry

Stg. Steven Grant”

Darry falls to his knees unable to move or speak. He feels deeply sorry for Soda’s son, Sandy, Steve, Two-bit and Pony.

I have on my other account. I was always obsessed with the fact that David Borenaz joined Bones immediately after Angel ended and so I had started writing a fic where Booth is actually Angel after he's become human because of the Shanshu prophecy. The brain tumor in season 4 is that catalyst that unearths his memories as Angel.

i used to think it was dialogue -- at least when i was writing scripts a lot. but during this new wave of writing i've been doing i think it's been internal thought processes of characters. Mostly that carlos in the loft fic im super proud of, lol

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

Staying in the correct tense! i feel like this shouldn't be an issue. just pick a tense and stay in it. you did 4 years of writing workshops in college, why are you still struggling with this!! (if anyone has any tips about this, please tell them to me lolll)

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

Oooh, good question. I wouldn't do it unless it was 100 percent correct. which means having someone who speaks the language look it over. otherwise i think the best course of action is to just write the dialogue in your native language and then in the description say it was a different language.

19. First fandom you wrote for?

First published work was Angel. but fun fact: i actually think my very first fan fic i wrote was a Twilight fan fic in middle school. middle school is when i first discovered fan fiction and also the time i was reading twilight. i think it was a story from Mike's perspective. i never published it because i could not figure out how to publish -- ff.net's story submission was not working for me for some reason so i gave up. the angel fic wasn't posted until 2015 so there was a large gap there.

20. Favorite fic you’ve written?

It's this Carlos fic about moving into the loft. I just think it's got a great haunted vibe but also my goal was to use more metaphors and poetry and i think i accomplished that.

They decide to run away. Very basic!

a whole new world?

A strange ringing noise leads the group to a door that leads to another world. It’s a lot like theirs but doesn’t seem to have any people even though there are buildings. Strange animals and bugs roam the unfamiliar world. With no idea what’s dangerous or not what will they do?

who are you?

The group loses their memories and were ditched in a abandoned hospital to find their own ways back home. Once they do they can’t even remember any of their families or friends. Slowly gain their memories back but do they like what they’re finding out about themselves?

College!

The characters are all in college and just trying to get through life. (Some of them could be roommates)

Camp what?

They all go out camping for some odd reason and find themselves lost and have no idea how to get out of the woods. Wild animals were not their only problem once they started to run out of food.

magic!

Each character wakes up with a strange power and has to find out how to live their lives without hurting anyone or letting people find out about them.

Roomates

The characters all move into an apartment together. (Kinda like newgirl vibes)

Travelers!

Every night our characters transport into a whole new area and wake up in random places. They always are close by to each other but can’t seem to stay in one place for more than 12 hours. Once the time reaches 12 even if they’re awake they’ll pass out and wake up somewhere different.

This is it. The big one!

This might be my shortest Pokemon review ever or my longest-short review. Whatever!

When we saw that Ash beat Leon and became the strongest trainer in the world, what do you think we were going to get afterward? He’s the top trainer in the world. He beat the likes of Steven Stone, Cynthia, and Leon. There’s nothing above this since it seems that Red doesn’t exist in this universe. But still getting the news about this truly being the end of Ash and Pikachu’s journey really took a toll on everyone.

I spent days after the announcement looking at all of the thoughts from people all over the globe. There was excitement for the new protagonists. There was sadness for those attached to Ash and Pikachu. There was gloating from people who were waiting for this moment. My opinion on this was all over the place. I was excited, sad, nervous, and absolutely ship-wrecked all rolled into one. That last emotion is understandable as there’s a very glaring chance that after these final eleven episodes, I will never see Tracey Sketchit again. EVER! And not just him, but everyone else that made a dent in Ash’s journey. Even my mother got sad when I told her they were ending Ash’s adventure and wondered how they were going to do it. Keep in mind, my mother is in her 70s and has only watched a handful of episodes (mostly Wooper related).

But the reactions that really kicked me in the feels came from Ash’s former and present English voice actresses, Veronica Taylor and Sarah Natochenney. Regardless of your opinions on which Ash was superior, these ladies both had a hand in Ash’s journey in the English version. Sarah especially since she not only grew up watching the show, but joined the cast when she was like 18 or 19 and has been voicing him ever since. Lisa Ortiz also should get a nod here because she’s the official voice director for Pokemon and has been with the show from literally day one. Seeing their reactions to the news was such a feeling.

There have been many opportunities to retire Ash and Pikachu. I thought it was going to be over after Kanto. I even had several dreams where either Ash, Misty, or Brock died…and for some reason Gary became a Klan member with a drinking problem. My 13-year-old mind was certainly an enigma. Thankfully, it was not the end. It could have been over at the end of Johto when Ash split from Misty and Brock. But it wasn’t over then either. Things could have ended when Brock left for good after Sinnoh. Could have saved us a lot of lull and nothingness of Black and White. But it wasn’t over then either. We in fact got some of the best moments of Ash’s path to becoming a Pokemon Master. Ash was able to go further in a pokemon league when facing of against Alain. He surpassed that when entering the Alolan League by becoming the champ. And finally, world champion.

So…does this new title make Ash a Pokemon Master?

I really hope so. If Pokemon has the ambitions to end Ash and Pikachu’s career in 11 episodes, they better do it tactfully and satisfies everyone. Obviously, satisfying everybody is never going to happen. I will of course find fault with everything. If you recall my thoughts in the 20th movie I Choose You, I said that the perfect ending for Pokemon would involve a fight against Ho-oh, Pikachu speaking, and Ash possibly dying. That movie already did all of that and that came out a good 5 years before this whole thing. With all of that said, let’s hit it!

RETURNING FRIENDS: Just as the promotional poster advertised, this will mostly contain the original trio, Ash, Misty, and Brock. Misty joining Ash for a while kinda brings back a lot of memories. In the second episode, we witnessed an old-fashion battle between the two. In fact, this episode was eerily similar to an episode from the Johto arc where the two fought over who was going to keep Totodile, except it’s with a Clauncher. As for Brock, he’s spotted by them, they save him from illusions, and he hangs out with the two for a while.

It's just these two traveling with Ash. Oh sure, Cilan ran into them. And kudos for getting both Mamrou Miyano and Jason Griffith back to voice Dento-fruit! But that was just for one episode. Best wishes to you and be on your way. And…nope, I’m saving that for later.

So, if you were expecting May, Dawn, or Serena to return, they do not. If you were expecting a nod to Clemont because Cilan knew him too, it doesn’t happen. If you were expecting another trip to the Alolan region where Misty and Brock meet Ash’s adopted Alolan family again, nope! If you were expecting an update on Goh and Chloe, sit and spin.

THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES, JAMES: There really aren’t that many people left that have been with Pokemon from episode 1. James Carter Cathcart was one of those lucky individuals. If the name seems unfamiliar to you, he’s gone by several aliases over the years including Billy Beach, Carter Cathcart, and Jimmy Zoppi. That last one is the one I always called him by. This guy has been around since episode 1 voicing Gary Oak and a myriad of other voices in just about every season. He was Todd during Kanto, he was Pryce during Johto, Mr. Briney during Hoenn, and that ass-wipe mayor from the Orange Islands. Dude plays a corrupt politician really well. My kudos there! Outside of Pokemon, remember that bug-freak from Yu-Gi-Oh that did the thing everyone hates him for? That was him. He played Weevil! But most youngins know him as the current voice of James, Meowth, and Professor Oak. I know I was never a fan of Cathcart’s voice for any one of those characters and was very vocal about that. But this guy stuck with it for the last 16 years and that’s very commendable. Not to mention his work with scripts and ADR for Pokemon for many years. So why bring this up now?

At the beginning of 2023, Cathcart was diagnosed with an advanced case of Throat Cancer. Any cancer diagnosis is frightening, but he seemed to stick with his work schedule with voicing and working on scripts. That was until the cancer didn’t react to the treatment like intended. As of April 2023, James Carter Cathcart had retired from voice acting and ADR/Script work. In the Pokemon English dub community, that’s a biggie. This guy has been there since day one. He has been in every season and after season 8, every episode. I don’t want to say he’s the Unshou Ishizuka here, but both did play Professor Oak and voiced many voices throughout the years. Despite the many critical things I’ve said throughout the years, there are two roles I’ve enjoyed from him the most. First is Miki from Revolutionary Girl Utena. And the other is Gary Oak. I loved him as both and it’s great that he comes into reprise Gary when it calls for it and that he continued to voice Gary even after the big voice change.

WITH. THAT. SAID. The final eleven episodes will showcase the new voices of James, Meowth, Professor Oak, and Gary Oak. And no, they aren’t voiced by Eric Stuart, Maddie Blaustein, or Stuart Zagnit. Stuart burned those bridges down long ago and Blaustein’s been dead for over 15 years now. Not sure what Zagnit is doing now as I think the last time he voiced for Pokemon was during Black & White. Okay, here’s the new people!

RETURNING POKEMON: It’s been a long time coming. Ash is shuffling around his pokemon in each episode of this final season. We’re seeing pokemon from other generations mingling with other pokemon. It’s just so special! On top of that, we saw two of Ash’s former pokemon like Squirtle and Lapras as both got their very own episode. It’s always special to see Squirtle not only with its squad, but with it’s best buds Charizard and Bulbasaur. Was their last reunion back in AG? Has it been that long?! And as for Lapras, it’s still with it’s family surfing around the world. I just wish the episode it was in didn’t annoy me.

Yeah, fillers still exist here.

THE STORIES: And this is where I begin sighing. These stories really should be showcased in past seasons. Ash and gang help a stuck Wailmer. Ash and gang help a Beartic control its ice type attack. Brock is caught in a slump because the girl he likes has a boyfriend. The episodes here are very formulaic in terms of Ash and friends get in a jam with a pokemon of the day, get in it with Team Rocket, do the task. And some of these episodes feel like a re-hash of past episodes. I guess it's because Ash is traveling with Misty and Brock again, they want people to get some nostalgia before the end happens. Now, there is one episode that was my fav…TRACEY!

Yeah, I know, besides that! I’ll get to my crazy ramblings soon enough.

Hands down, the best of the 11 was Getting to the Heart of it All. This episode was where Ash and Gengar help a Banette. That one will kick you in the feels, but will make you smile because there’s a happy ending. And we all love a happy ending!

MUSIC: Oh, the original music is really making me feel nostalgic. All of the background music from season one and thensome returns in a big way and featured in most episodes. Even a few surprising music tracks like in episode 10 where we got the music from the fifth movie. Big surprise there! When it came to the opening, we are once again blessed to hear Rica Matsumoto sing a version of Mezase Pokemon Master. Normally, I will tire of the same song being played again, but this song is a classic. It’s up there with Sailor Moon and Hunter x Hunter. Those openings are classics. The ending themes were mostly the very first ending theme, Hyakugojuuichi by Unshou Ishizuka. But there have been a couple of episodes that featured other past ending themes including one of the Team Rocket endings, Takeshi’s Paradise, and Lapras ni Notte. That last one, you know what that means!

Medea spends a minute and thirty seconds screaming, “THERE’S TRACEY! THERE’S TRACEY”!

Did the U.S…I don’t even need to finish this question. You all know the answer. Generic ending theme. I think it was copy and pasted from Journeys. The opening followed the same footsteps as the original by giving us another version to Gotta Catch em All. Both opening themes gave us nostalgia from the past.

ENGLISH OPENING CUT OUT THAT CROPPED TRACEY PICTURE! YOU ARE DEAD TO ME, ENGLISH VERSION!

Okay, let me get through this portion before I go back to outbursting again. As for other musical aspects, did they keep the background music? Some, not all. But some! I know that the U.S. version was never going to play Mezase Pokemon Master, Hyakugojuuichi or anything else Japanese. But what could have been awesome was if they could play some of the old Pikachu Jukebox hits. It was never going to happen, but it’s a nice thought. The last time they even played one of those was during DP and they slipped in that classic Team Rocket song.

BANNED IN THE U.S.A.: Ah, welcome back annoying friend. I think I forgot to speak about the passed-over episodes from Journeys when I reviewed earlier this year. But the U.S. never airs the clip-show episodes, so it’s not really banned. Editing out Brock’s maracas when he’s about to go into his Takeshi’s Paradise song, that’s something to discuss.

For the love of chicken noodle soup, what are you doing? Really?! Maracas had to be edited out like they’re fucking riceballs?! Has any group ever found fault with Brock shaking maracas?! There was a Family Guy cutaway where Peter is shaking maracas while thinking about murdering children. That’s an eyebrow raise, NOT BROCK SINGING WHILE SHAKING HIS MARACAS!

Okay, I’m done beating this dead horse.

TEAM ROCKET’S END: With the end of Ash and Pikachu’s adventure, this meant the inevitable end to Team Rocket tailing the twerp and their schemes to steal Pikachu. But how?! Jessie, James, and Meowth have been together through it all. Granted, there were several episodes where they would go their separate way. But they would always patch things up by the end of the episode. There were two Team Rocket centered episodes in this arc. One of them was totally like that Orange Island episode Pokemon Double Trouble. Don’t even get me started on that! But the other had Jessie and James reunited with all of their pokemon from the past. I mean, not all of them. At least they remembered Weezing, Arbok, Victrebel, Lickitung, Dustox, Mimikyu, and Maerine.

Team Rocket decided to come up with a convoluted plan involving all of their pokemon to separate the twerps and steal Pikachu once and for all. But when their plan ended up in failure thanks to Pikachu and a wild Latias of all things, Team Rocket just called it quits. The three went their separate ways and that was it.

While it felt very rushed and was put at the end of an episode instead of the beginning like most Team Rocket split-up episodes, I feel like this isn’t over. I know it doesn’t look good on paper. Team Rocket has lost to the twerp more times than one can count and that includes with borrowed pokemon from the boss. Maybe they felt defeated when they realized that they couldn’t beat them even with all of their pokemon. Or maybe it was an overwhelming feeling after getting their ass kicked by a legendary pokemon out of nowhere.

THE LATIAS ARC: Throughout 10 of these episodes, we would see Latias in some form. I wrote off Ash and Latias back at the fifth movie. Ash will never catch a Latias. He will not get together with Latias from Alto Mare. He will not fly around Hoenn on the back of a Latias or mega-evolve one like the Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire games. Fool didn’t even mega evolve Charizard or Glalie and I swear that’s the last time I’ll scream about that. So on and so forth! In the first episode of this arc, Ash saves a Latias after it was injured. I honestly thought nothing of it. But after the events of that episode, every episode in this arc showed Latias in invisible mode observing Ash. So, I’m wondering if Ash is going to do something for Latias near the end of this series. Catching it is so out of the question though. In some instances, Latias even saves Ash and Pikachu.

And seriously, Misty and Brock don’t even question Ash flying through the air with ease and unhurt. The fuck, guys! He’s not riding around on Wonder Woman’s invisible ride.

Latias confides in Ash, Misty, and Brock to help a Latios who has been hunted by a poacher. This poacher is giving off every kind of vibe that Hunter J had. In answer to everyone’s question here, there is no mention of Hunter J despite having technology that stones pokemon in their place. Hunter J’s death will remain up in the air…with her scattered ashes. Ash was able to stop this hunter with aid from Latias and Latios. Officer Jenny conveniently shows up after all is said and done. But after that, Latios and Latias fly away…to Alto Mare?

OH MY GOODNESS, LOOK AT THIS GUYS! THE FIFTH MOVIE IS CANON TO THE POKEMON ANIME! Bianca and Latias from the fifth movie get a cameo. Of all the movies I’ve wanted to be canon to the anime…I mean besides the second and third movie, I’m glad it’s the fifth one. There, we survived 10 episodes of Latias stalking Ash. He didn’t catch it. See, told you it wouldn’t happen.

Medea was secretly hoping he’d catch it though.

THE FINALE: Those eleven episodes seemed to piss on by, huh?! Japan has prepared its fans that the end of Ash and Pikachu’s tale was near. Tribute videos were out on social media. Notifications were all around Tokyo. And a panoramic video in Shinjuku station shows Ash’s greatest moments. Meanwhile in America, Sarah Natochenney is getting melancholy as her time as Ash could be coming to a close. Netflix America is slow as fuck getting these fucking episodes out while Canada and even South Fucking Africa aired these long before America.

Medea was sleep deprived due to a night meeting at work, but still woke her black ass up at 2:45am to see if Tracey was going to show up.

The final episode begins with the splitting up of the OG group. Misty goes back to Cerulean and Brock goes back to Pewter. Ash and Pikachu go back to Pallet Town for a nice soak in the tub and rest. The next day, Ash returns to Professor Oak’s lab…

Nope. Stopping this right there! I’m not getting my hopes up with your stupid bait-and-switch. You’ve been dangling this fucking carrot in front of my face for the last 23 years. Oh, maybe if there’s an episode at Oak’s lab, I might see Tracey. What have I been getting since the end of Advanced Generation? Nothing! Pbbt! Zilch! Go fuck yourself with your Oak lab episode. I ain’t falling for this shit. Go on, break my heart like you always do and let’s finish this anime on some kind of note.

I…can’t…he’s speaking. His voice, I can actually hear it. There’s actual lip movement. WE HAVE LIP MOVEMENT, PEOPLE! And his Marill. Ohmygersh, his cute little blue boy! Tomokazu Seki is actually voicing Tracey for one possible last time. And he even shows up twice in the same episode. And GASP! HIS VENONAT EVOLVED! OOOOOOH, and Scyther is still alive. This is ecstasy!

YAHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

A MOMENT LIKE THIS! I’VE WAITED SIXTEEN AND A HALF YEARS FOR A MOMENT LIKE THIS! FOR HIM TO SPEAK AGAIN! OHHHHH I CAN’T BELIEVE IT’S HAPPENING TO MEEEEEEE!

I’m crying. I’m really crying. These are tears of joy dammit! You like him, you really, really like him. OH MY GOD, THANK YOU ANIPOKE! I wanna, I wanna thank everyone in the Pokemon anime. Behind the scenes and otherwise. I want to thank Tomokazu Seki for taking time out of his busy Gilgamesh schedule to voice Tracey again. You truly are the greatest seiyuu in the universe.

Hey, I waited 16 and a half years to hear my boy speak again. I am gonna rub it in the haters faces. And when I rub it in haters faces, I smother it in their face. I’m sure the ONLY reason we’re hearing this is because the game Pokemon Masters EX casted Tomokazu Seki to voice the creepy Ball Guy around that time. And I’m sure he was enticed to voice Tracey Sketchit again. Like, since you’re already here…Whatever the case, I am happy. I am ecstatic. I am elated. I am pretty sure I woke up the dead when I screamed at three in the morning. No, seriously. I was all ready to write off this final episode as the day Pokemon screwed Medea out of seeing Tracey for the billionth time. But when I got the message from one of my girlfriends saying she was happy for me during the broadcast. I knew something was coming and that I was going to be very, very happy. I was.

This episode gets a perfected 10/10, you gave me life and a perfect way to cap off the series. The only way this moment could get better is if Donald Trump gets arrested.

Holy fuck, that’s two-for-two. The only way this moment could get any better would be if they could get Ted Lewis to voice Tracey.

I’m on a roll. Better start asking for more shit. Okay, I wish for more Yuri on Ice content. Um…those last two episodes of Empire to be filmed. A legitimate streaming service to air Boston Public. Video footage of the Spongebob cast voicing the episode “Sailor Mouth”. A bottle of Ting. Animated movies getting respect from the Academy. My student loans paid off. An all-expenses paid trip to Italy…

Excuse me Medea, you still have to talk about the final episode.

Oh. Ash goes to Oak’s lab. Tracey is shown and the world is great again. He leaves for a couple of days and has Ash take over in his place. Quickly finds a missing Charmander. Gary helps Ash out. Gary then finally brings up the burning question of what comes next now that Ash is a World Champion? This kinda left Ash wondering for a good chunk of this episode. It really impacted him to the point where his mom gives him new shoes for a new journey and he hasn’t put them on at all. Meanwhile, Jessie, James, and Meowth are working the slop kitchen at TR headquarters.

AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH, I TOLD YOU, I TOLD YOU! They were going to come back together. And my marked words were correct-o as they went in trying to steal the twerp’s Pikachu solo, but reunited with their motto. Team Rocket’s plan of catching Pikachu ends with a surprise encounter. Pidgeot.

Well, I can honestly say I wasn’t expecting that to happen in this episode. I’ve made my peace with Ash never seeing certain former pokemon again, with Charizard and Squirtle being major exceptions to that. But the previous arc had me questioning all of that logic when Ash sees Greninja again and that final snapshot of him and Butterfree. During this final season, we not only got Lapras, but Pidgeot. Two pokemon I thought I would never see again outside of a league memory hole or opening sequence and here they are. Back to the lamenting, Ash wonders what’s next in life. The good thing is that he doesn’t see his winning the world championship as a stopping point. That leaves an opening to seeing Ash again sometime in the future. Ash sees a rainbow (without a Ho-oh this time) and goes on a new journey…with his new shoes. Next time, a new adventure.

That’s literally what the final message was said before playing the iconic Type Wild. In the English version, there was no message and we got a slow piano version of Gotta Catch em’ All.

Okay, where to begin? Going into these 11 episodes, I thought that Ash was going to see not only all of his old pokemon, but his old friends as well. That totally was not the case. In fact, the only ones to show up in these eleven episodes were Misty, Brock, Cilan, and Tracey. Somebody’s been reading my thoughts and hand-delivering them to me. Yeehaw biatches! While I’m all for more Tracey and Cilan, I honestly wouldn’t have minded seeing everyone else too. Yes, even Serena. Not Dawn, though. She got enough screentime during Journeys. I am Dawn’d out again. Pokemon Journeys did this task almost flawlessly by having all of the former travelmates watch Ash as he competed in the finals against Leon. Except for Goh. Hey yeah, Goh and Chloe are not in these episodes. Same for the Alolan gang. That’s a bit of a sore spot.

But silly me and my fantasies. There was no way that was ever going to happen where we get all of Ash’s teammates together. Do you know how hard it is to get certain voice actors after a lengthy period of time? May’s voice actress is permanently retired. Who the hell knows where Max’s seiyuu is? And the fact that they even got Mamoru Miyano and Tomokazu Seki for anything without being charged a fortune is beyond me. Plus, after the massive wave of toxic fan-people with Serena, it’s best that we don’t go with any of that. They literally had to sneak her in an episode of Journeys without saying she’s going to be in an episode. I think we should all remember that this is the Ash and Pikachu show and everyone else is coming along for the ride. Yes, even the popular ones. And I guess because Misty and Brock were his first travel mates and the ones who stayed with him the longest, it would seem most obvious to have Ash, Misty, and Brock travel again.

I was however miffed that the majority of these episodes were a bunch of fillery type of episodes. But the way I see it, we finally get to see Ash switch out his pokemon and have new team setups we never saw up to this point. Hell yeah, I like seeing Rowlet and Totodile together. Kudos for a team-up with Snorlax and Talonflame! But then you get the dilemma of the day end with an invisible Latias staring at Ash, it’s building to something worthwhile. I mean, not Ash catching Latias like any decent person would have loved to see, but it led to a very thrilling conclusion. I honestly thought the last couple of episodes were the best of the lot. This includes the lonely Banette episode, the Team Rocket reunion episode, the Latios/Latias episode, and the finale. Everything else, I could take or leave.

Okay, I take it back. I did enjoy Cilan being all Cilany and OH MY GOD, I DIDN’T EVEN SAY THE THING IN MY LAST REVIEW!

No. But what could they do if they wanted to keep our boy still forever 10?

Eh, probably the last couple of episodes. Unless they’re OG trio fans, then the whole thing.

Who knows what is to come of Ash and Pikachu in the future if we’re to get anything. We could get another project featuring Ash and Pikachu from the alternate universe. It could happen! Currently, Pokemon Horizons has been gaining a lot of positive traction between old and new Pokemon anime fans. I’m just beyond happy that Liko is NOT a product of Ash. Not sure if there’s a time-leap here, but for now I’m breathing a sigh of relief. I’ll save my happiness of certain casting choices for the Horizons review in the coming years. Crispin Freeman in the cast is the chef’s kiss of perfection. But it’s good to see several voice actors (both sub and dub) returning to voice new characters. Just to name a few people, Kazuya Nakai, Billy Bob Thompson, Yuka Terasaki, Kei Shindou, Erica Shroeder, Megumi Hayashibara, Ikue Ootani, and Lisa Ortiz. Those last three are a given as you cannot have a Pokemon anime anything without those three.

It would be nice to see a mention of Ash and Pikachu every now and then. Just something to keep Rica Matsumoto and Sarah Natochenney in work. While I’m mentioning them, I want to thank Ash’s voice actors. Hell, let’s add Veronica Taylor too! Thank you for the many wonderful years of memories. I’m going to miss the hell out of Rica and all of those banger opening themes she gave us for the past 26 years. Veronica, we all grew up listening to you. You are indeed the O.G. And Sarah, while I was skeptical of you for the first few years of you voicing Ash, I grew to enjoy it. Best of all, you exceeded my expectations in the last few years, especially your performance in the twentieth movie I Choose You. Thank you.

Hmm…do I have any other high hopes for the anime as a whole? Aside from more Tracey…I will never stop saying it. The other things I want is for a credible sight to give us the Japanese version and no more of this waiting months on end for Netflix to drop a batch of episodes. That ruined Pokemon and it ruined Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure Pt. 6. You know it, I know it, and the entire anime world knows it. If Yu-Gi-Oh can have the Japanese version play on Crunchyroll, something like that should happen for Pokemon. That’s my high hopes for the future.

As of September 8th, 2023, the final eleven episodes (or Pokemon: Aim to be a Pokemon Master) will be available to stream on Netflix. Alongside the eleven is the Journeys episode that takes place in the alternate universe for Ash and Pikachu. If you live in Canada, Japan, or South Africa, you’ve already watched these episodes.
