when oh when will i have the motivation to write my trans bruce banner thesis fic wherein rick immediately clocks him as an egg but doesn't say anything because bruce is kind of going through it rn

#they go on a little road trip across the desert and then they get picked up by the military #and betty takes rick back to her flat after telling bruce he's selfish for letting rick come this far with him (she's right) #and then bruce goes on the run from the military (again) after escaping and the stuff happens with jen to make her she hulk #and rick (who's been tracking disturbances of this kind in order to find bruce) sees this on the news and asks betty to come w him #so they go to minnesota and find out that it's not actually bruce it's jen! and betty and jen have their mini gay arc #where betty already knows she's gay and feels neutral on jen and jen thinks she's stright but is going insane for betty #and rick gets like a semblance of a normalish life w betty except betty has a lot of issues from her childhood e.g. her mum dying #and then rick #meanwhile bruce has been joining the avengers and thinking steve is being transphobic #he's not. steve is also trans he just doesn't like bruce as a person #and then rick breaks into the avengers compound when bruce is off world with thor (ragnarok era) and yells at steve and tony <3 #and rick becomes steve's sidekick as he did in the comics #and then bruce returns! family reuinion! #reunion. whatever #and everyone learns the power of community and also tony dies #sequel fic dealing with rick's INSANE jealousy when peter joins bc HE should be the youngest coolest trans guy there #what do you MEAN he isn't the baby anymore. that he isn't the most funny and interesting and smart (in his own way) transmasc. #what the HELL everyone is meant to be on his SIDE #bruce voice (without looking up from his work) nobody's taking sides rick be a bit more mature about this #rick voice MATURE???? Leo and Michi meeting for the first time since separated

Look at my sons! they're so sweet and awkward and i love them to bits!

This is probably my favorite reunion out of all of them. Simply because Michi only just left the Foot like a week prior. He's hurt and confused and just in a generally bad mental place. So Splinter brings him to meet Leo, hoping that will help (and with the plan of him staying with Leo at the Daimyos for his safety and wellbeing.)

and then there's Leo, who remembers his sibling enough to miss them. He's lonely almost constantly since Ue all but hates him and his only real friend is Usagi who doesn't get to visit nearly enough.

But then one of his brothers is there. Right there! and suddenly, neither of them are really alone anymore.

It's just the sweetest reunion out of the lot. and i love it to bits.

Reconciliation

Old dome squadmates Trito and Kinoga get together at Trito’s place to catch up after years apart and a meeting by chance on the surface.

For the lore, includes stuff from splatoon Octo Expansion: Trito and Kinoga were a part of an octarian military squad living in the domes, Kinoga being their squad leader that many looked up to and admired. There were 6 of them who considered each other to be their closest friends. Upon hearing about the tests from Kamabo Co. and the allure of the Promised Land, Kinoga wished to seek it out in order to find a better life for their squadmates. A difficult decision, since it meant leaving them all behind, promising to come back and take them there.

Kinoga enters the metro trials and soon realizes that the Promised Land isn’t what they expected, their hope crumbling when they encounter one of their sanitized squadmates Agara, who followed suit to the metros soon after. Kinoga narrowly escapes, eventually making a break for the surface, carrying the shame of unwilling to return for their squadmates with them (it’s justified, of course, there might not be an easy way in, they might get caught again, Agara is gone)

Trito enters the Metro not too long after Kinoga does, wanting to catch up to them, and an accident that occurs in a test early on results in Trito’s near sanitization, giving him his scar. Terrified, and realizing what happens to his fellow octolings, Trito is unable to return to his squadmates, not wanting to break the news of their loved ones’ untimely fates. He hides away on the Metro until the events of OE happen and Agent 8 dismantles Kamabo, opening an opportunity to escape to the surface. Unwilling to face the possibilities of going back, Trito takes his chance to leave, starting a new life and feeling that it’s for the best if he doesn’t acknowledge it, though he missed his friends dearly.

Years later, Trito and Kinoga run into each other on the streets of Splatsville by chance, and the implications of them both being on the surface and alive hit them, having to carry the burden of leaving their loved ones behind and finding out the truth, knowing the other felt exactly the same, not knowing the fate of their squadmates and not wanting to think about the possibility of them being gone. They have a tearful reunion about it, and set up a meet later, to sit down and really talk, and get into a brief argument when the topic of returning to the domes comes up. Trito’s in disbelief that Kinoga never went back down to check on the rest of their squad, wanting them to have been a better person than him, who was too cowardly to do so. Eventually they do reconcile, and end up at Trito’s place to hook up, where the above comic takes place :]

I think a good place to start looking for something that would let a vampire walk in the sun would be Gortash's notes, possibly the ciphered letters he and Durge communicated with - anything regarding their brainstorming for using the illithid.

'Cause an interesting fact about mind flayers is this:

"Like most races long resident in the Underdark, the origins of illithids are lost to the mists of history. Nevertheless, the tadpole form of their young suggests they may have evolved in briny, subterranean pools before developing the parasitic adult forms they now assume through ceremorphosis. [...] In any event, the utter hatred mind flayers evince for the sun indicates a long tenure within the tunnels of the Night Below."

They're amphibious beings built for the dark and damp, and the sun is bright, dry and uncomfortable on their damp flesh. When your future illithid thrall nation absolutely fucking hates the sun, it might be a good idea to start magically bioengineering tadpoles that won't have this issue; if they're enchanted with sunlight resistance to keep their future selves comfortable in the horrible dry, mucus-evaporating heat of the sun's rays, it might explain why the tadpole'd be able to extend such protections to a vampiric host.

Obviously you can't just shove another tadpole in your eye, but such research would be a good reference point on places to start looking if you wanted to find ways to replicate that effect on a vampire sans-tadpole.
