At some point reader, bucky and Nat are on a mission and reader sacrifices herself to save bucky and nat and gets taken by hydra. During this reader confesses her love to bucky and bucky is left distraught afterwards. Vows to save reader etc etc. Eventually reader is saved and there's a happy ending but there's a whole lot of angst too.

Smooth Criminal: Part 1

Summary:  You had enough, Tony Stark went too far this time. He took something from you and you were going to get it back. It so happen that a Mr. Steve Rogers stumbles onto your plan.

This is my entry for @sgtjbuccky End of the Year Challenge. My prompt was  “You don’t strike me as a professional criminal.” “That’s what makes me so good at it.”

I made it into 2 parts because it was getting really long and I felt I was cutting some good stuff out to make it shorter, so I decided to make it 2. I’ll be posting the other shortly.

Pairing: Steve Rogers x Reader

Steve walked into Stark Towers, Pepper asked to see him for some surprise for Tony.  He thought it would be a quick stop in, before going off to meet the gang at a bar for some bonding. That was until he heard a frustrated grunt coming from outside Pepper’s office door. He stepped back and glanced into the room.

Y/N, one of Pepper’s lawyers stood at a table, looking down at a large map. Their hair was a mess, which was different from what he’d normally seen them in the past. They were dressed all in black with a mask and all. He thought you had to be dressed up for some costume party or something. He looked at Pepper’s assistant, she pointed a finger up at him, motioning Pepper wasn’t quite ready for him yet. He looked back at the frustrated, frantic lawyer again, feeling a moment of curiosity, he stepped into the room.

 You looked up when Captain Rogers entered the room, “Captain, I’m sorry I didn’t see you there.”

“No, I’m sorry clearly you are working on something,” he paused to take in your full appearance, trying to choose his words carefully, “important.” He looked down at the map, which was Tony Stark’s mansion in the city, “What are you doing exactly?”

Looking up at him, crossing your arms, “Not that it’s any of your business,” you give him some attitude, clearly transferring some feelings onto the Captain, “I’m going to rob Tony Stark.”

“Rob, Tony Stark,” he questions, not really believing what just came out of your mouth, “You?”

“Don’t act so shocked,” you look back down to the map, pin pointing your exact route, “I am capable of many things, including criminal like stuff,” you said, not really sounding all that believable.

He shook his head, taking a step closer to the table to check out your plan, “You don’t strike me as a professional criminal.”

You shrug, starting to roll up your map, placing it in your overly large black bag, “That’s what makes me so good at it,” you pointed at him, “I’m a smooth criminal.”

Squinting his eyes at you, trying to hide his innocent smirk. He circled around the table to stand in front of you, “You know, saying you’re a smooth criminal doesn’t actual make you sound more like a criminal. It does the exact opposite.”

Scoffing at him, you take two steps back, “What do you know about being a criminal?”

“Can we start off by telling me what you’re trying to steal from Stark?”

The bag you were holding dropped to the ground, “That little rat said I was not capable of doing something bad, that I’m ‘always by the book, rule following, O.C.D maniac with not a bad bone in their body’, as said by that monster of a man.”

He shook his head, “You are letting Stark’s words get the best of you,” Steve had interacted with you enough, “That man talks a lot of nonsense, especially with how he feels about lawyers. You’re letting him get a rise out of you for nothing.”

Gripping your fists tight together you combusted, “He stole Mister Fuzzbits,” you yell out, “That monster, to prove a point stole something from me to show I wouldn’t do anything to him. I don’t believe in unnecessary violence, so I’m going to steal him back and one of these stupid machines. Really show him I’m a danger to recon with,” you use your finger, acting like your jabbing Tony with it, hard.

Steve laughed, “Alright, killer,” he pushed your hand down, “I get it. You want vengeance for Tony stealing Mr.,” he looked at you with a sweet smile before he said your bears name, “Fuzzbits. You’re going about it all wrong,” he said, leaning against the table to get a better view of you.

“You don’t strike me as a professional criminal,” you teased him back, letting a sigh of humor out. You could tell how crazy you sounded.

“I guess, that is what makes me good at it,” he teased right back. “Look, I got a meeting with Pepper about a surprise with Tony. It supposed to be a dinner celebrating some kind of award he is getting. I can get it to be at the mansion.”

You groan, “How is that going to help me get my bear back? And be bad to the freaking bone,” you sigh afterwards, hunching over the table. You must look ridiculous, especially in front of the gorgeous Captain America, himself. You always tried to look your best when you knew you’d be seeing the hunky avenger, “I’ll never be invited to that, I’m only here for his entertainment and because of Pepper. He hates lawyers.”

“You’ll come as my date, we’ll do this together,” he turned to lean over you.

He took your breath away, he just asked you out. I mean, it was to help you, but it still felt incredible, “You want to take me as a date, to get Mister Fuzzbits back?”

“Two smooth criminals,” he grinned down at you, “It’ll be fun.”

You nodded your head, “Sure, sounds great,” you mumbled, scribbling down your number for him, “This is my number, just text me the details,” you said, grabbing your bag and walking towards the door.

“Where are you going,” he questions after you.

“I’ve got to get this gunk off and get back to my real job,” you spin around and trot out the door.

 Steve smiled to himself, feeling accomplished, he liked Y/N for a while, he just wasn’t brave enough to ask. This gave him the perfect opportunity, “Mr. Rogers found himself a date,” he looked up to the door where Natasha, “You finally asked out the lawyer.”

“Nat,” he answered, walking out to the hall with her, “You here for the party thing too?”

“As it seems,” she smirked, “Let’s go plan your dinner,” she started for Pepper’s office.

Rolling his eyes, “You mean Tony’s dinner,” he hollered back after her, in a slightly hushed tone.

“Whatever you say Captain America,” she said, sending a grin back towards him. She loved to tease Steve, but she was more happy to see him making moves, “You could have just asked her for a date like a normal person, but this will be much more fun.”

Another mood board (when will I stop) for the emotional “Say It” by @sgtjbuccky. 

This is one of the first stories I read from Salina and main character was so unique, she caught my attention and I knew I had to keep reading. While, I am not the biggest fan of Bucky/Nat with the main character in the middle, Chp. 6 and the way that Natasha explained things had me ballin’. Salina has great way of showing emotions in this is story, even from the most stoic of characters and it makes you root for Bucky in the end! I honestly find myself just reading it every once awhile, and it still manages to bring a tear out of me.

@ign-is I only use the word cliffhanger in the most extreme of circumstances. It’s got a way to go yet, though, so don’t lose hope! Also, I think this is one of my favourite comments I’ve ever gotten because I am so so glad to hear you thought I portrayed the team well, I was super nervous about that! I was definitely trying to avoid caricaturing them too much (although I so did with Thor and Loki I think aha) and subtle was exactly what I was going for so thank you thank you thank you :D
