After recent events, Sophia has become intimately familiar with not only the location of Lilina's room, but its contents as well. On Lilina's birthday, practiced steps bring her to the Ostian's doorstep.

Sophia raps her knuckles on the door, calling quietly: "...Lady Lilina?"

She waits a few moments for an answer that does not come. Perhaps Lilina has stepped out for the moment or maybe Sophia just hadn't knocked hard enough. The reason does not particularly matter; today surely must be a busy day for her.

Regardless, Sophia sets down a small wrapped gift in front of the lordling's door. Contained within the package are a pair of ceramic bookends, carved into the shape of blooming flowers, and a candle that smells faintly of aloe.

A sealed letter is placed delicately on top. When opened, it reads:

"Lady Lilina, Happy birthday. When I was in your room last time, I noticed that you have a lot of books, but your organization is a little (a word is crossed out here) unique. I hope these bookends are useful for you. A lot of your candles were down to the wick, as well, so I've also included a candle. The scent reminds me of home, so it may not suit your taste. You don't need to use them if you don't want to, but I wanted to get you something for your birthday. Oh, and also as a thank you for the ribbons you gave me earlier. ...Also if you would like me to help return some overdue books for you, please let me know. I spend a lot of my time in the library anyway. —Sophia"

Returning once more to her dorm would reward her with yet another package. Delight blooms in her face when she reveals its contents and even more so its sender. Though she does grimace a little at the reminder of the well past overdue books, she appreciates the sentiment all the same and it wasn't anything she wouldn't laugh off a moment later.

Though ideally, she would like to thank her in person, she often misses her despite being in the same house. Besides, she fears she could not properly thank the girl in the way she wants to. So, some time later does she sit down to draft a letter to slide in the slit of Sophia’s door.

Dear Sophia, Thank you for the gifts. How thoughtful of you. Rest assured, there will be plenty of use out of them. Of course I am not familiar with the scents of your home, but each time I light one, I will be reminded of you and that is special enough for me. I just hope I don’t burn through them too fast hehe. Perhaps we could go to Nabata when we return to Elibe? As for the books, yes… I mean to return them on time, but I get caught up in other tasks and lose track of time. I think the rental period is far too short. Maybe we will run into each other there! (A sentence has been scratched out here, if examined closely one may be able to decipher the words: study date.) Anyway, I know you are likely just as busy as I, but I hope to chat with you more. Kindest regards from your friend, Lilina P.S. Aren’t these flowers pretty? I visited the greenhouse and they permitted me to take a couple. They will last a little should you choose to keep them.

As an additional touch, she adds pressed hydrangea flowers of purple, blue, and pink in with the envelope.

Piecing together: The current timeline in Reverse 1999

CN SPOILERS up to Chapter 5 and Interlude. Long post.

The new Chapter 5 and Interlude for Reverse 1999 has shed some light on the Storm and its timeline. With all the new info, I've tried to piece it together as accurately as possible. Here's the timeline I have put together:

Let me break down my findings.

First of all, let's look at the IDM Computer with 37's Mother's prediction.

37 mentions "From 1999 to 2007, the emanation has taken place seven times". Here's how I interpret what the years mean in the Phenomenal column. It's like calling the effect of the Storm: for the first row, the 1996 Storm reverses the era 1999 to 1996. So the "1996 Storm".

The IDM only shows 6 Storms, so the 7th is the Storm that reversed to 1929. I wonder why she didn't include the 8th Storm (1929->1913), but that could be because it was the anomaly 2-day emanation that ruined the model prediction.

Here's a table I have made attempting to fill in the blanks of the IDM computer.

Let's analyze it Storm by Storm.

The 1st Storm (1999 -> 1996)

When: 23:59. December 31, 1999

Reverses to: 1996

Many sources for this, from the IDM showing 1996 to Greta, the writer of the letters in the interlude, mentioning it in her letters.

The 2nd Storm (1996 -> 1985) [Original: 2000]

When: 1996-1997.

Logs don't explicitly say when, but from the IDM we know it takes place ~1 year after the first Storm.

Reverses to: 1985.

We know this from Greta.

"Things remained unclear until time was reversed again. This time, we all witnessed that rain in the 80s. That was 1985."

She was safe in the Headquarters, witnessing the Storm reverse.

The 3rd Storm (1987 -> 1976) [Original: 2003]

When: On a 27th evening, 1987.

Greta: "The Storm in 1987 was predicted. "…but the prediction was not accomplished by LAPLACE. The captive from Manus Vindictae names the precise date of that Storm."

In Chapter 3, we learn the Foundation captured a Manus Vindictae member who gave them the date of the next Storm. Greta also mentions a captive from Manus predicted it.

Thus, this is the Storm that took place in the breakaway incident, where Vertin was 12-years old and witnessed the Storm for the first time.

Reverses to: 1976

Greta: "Finally, I made up my mind to write to [37's mother]... ... ... She died. On the same day, the first and only timekeeper who just took office, the 12-year-old child returned alone from the Storm. She told us the time in the outside world at that point." "...The last two digits in the number of the year after that Storm were exactly her name and her number: 77".

This was a bit hard to understand. I concluded the year it reversed to was 1976, as Greta said "the year after the Storm" was 77.

Original Year: 2003

Two years has passed from the 2nd Storm (1985) as this Storm took place in 1987. This fits with the year 2003 in the IDM computer. Also, when Sophia talks to Sonetto at the geometry graveyard:

Sophia: "Four years ago, my father was restored to a geometric body on his way back to the island. So was 37's mother who was also on that ship".

We know (or can at least assume) 77 is 37's mother who perished in this Storm. The current time is 2007, so four years ago is 2003.

The 4th Storm (~1976 -> 1930s) [Original: 2004]

When: 1976~1977/78

Reverses to: Some year in the 1930s

Original year: 2004

37: "In the initial four years, the emanation [Storm] has a pattern. First it brought us back to the 90s, then the 80s, and then the 70s. After that it suddenly leapt to the 30s."

When is the initial 4 years? 1999-2003, and this fits with our current pattern thus far from 90s -> 80s -> 70s. So the 4th Storm takes us to the 30s.

Sophia: "We miscalculated the impact area of the emanation. We thought the ships would be safe in the [...] current."

This confirms the Storm has a limited area it affects, where places hit by the Storm reverses to that particular year. The timeline of R1999 isn't going backwards linearly. This opens a lot of possibilities and eras we could visit.

The 5th Storm (~1930s-> 1912s) [Original: 2006]

When: Sometime in the 1930s

Reverses to: 1912

Original: 2006

37: ".... After that it suddenly leapt to the 30s. In the subsequent 3 years, [the emanation] took place twice."

When are the three years? The Storm that took us to the 30s was 2004. So the subsequent 3 years 37 refers to are: 2005, 2006, 2007.

The IDM jumps from 2004 to 2006. You can (very vaguely) make out "1912" from the year 2006. At least I think it's 1912. So the 5th Storm takes us from the 30s to 1912.

The 6th Storm (~1912s-> 1966s) [Original: 2007]

Here's where it gets interesting, and where I start to theorize things because there isn't much info yet about this Storm.

When: Theorized: 1912~1914

Reverses to: 1966

Original year: 2007

In 2007, there is a 6th Storm. This is likely the Storm before the beginning of R1999, which takes us to 1966 where Vertin meets Regulus.

Here's why I think this Storm fits with the IDM model and happens in 1912~1914, more possibly 1914.

In Chapter 1, Vertin lists down people she has met to Regulus.

Regulus: "Huh? It's Lewis. I know him!" Vertin: "Yes. I took this photo several days ago. He was selling the Hoover Upright Vacuum Cleaners in the West End, and thought photos would help his business, so he gladly took this." Regulus: "Why did you take a photo of him? How's he..."

Vertin's response is to take a deep breath.

This interaction was very interesting. Why is Regulus so surprised Vertin took a picture of Lewis? "How's he..." How's he what? Alive?

Now I'm not very familiar with historical figures named Lewis, so I could be very (and hilariously) wrong, but after researching who could be related to a business involving Hoover Upright Vacuum Cleaners, I speculate Lewis is John Spedan Lewis. His father, John Lewis, founded John Lewis, a British brand of high-end department stores.

In 1914, John Lewis hands Spedan Lewis control of a store named Peter Jones. Where is Peter Jones located? Sloane Square, London, which is in King's Road.

Vertin: "Yes. I took this photo several days ago."

This fits with the London location and timeline we know so far. So a few days before Vertin met Regulus, she was in an area of 1914s where she met Spedan Lewis trying to get his store [Peter Jones] going.

Judging from her reaction, he got reversed by the Storm that took them to 1966. Spedan Lewis died in 1963, which is why Regulus is confused why Vertin has a picture of him taken several days ago, and why a wealthy Founder of high-end luxury stores needs a photo taken to help his business.

I thought this was a nice clue that Vertin was in ~1912s era before the 1966s, though this is all just speculation. Feel free to add your own theories who Lewis could be.

The 7th Storm (~1966s-> 1929s) [Original: 2007]

When: June 3rd, 1966.

Reverses to: February 14th, 1929.

Takes place in Chapter 0, where Vertin and Sonetto meets Regulus.

The 8th Storm (~1929s-> 1913s) [Original: 2007]

When: February 15th, 1929.

Reverses to: 1913

Takes place in Chapter 2, where Vertin meets Schneider, Druvis, and Sotheby. Manus Vindictae escalates the Great Depression to cause an earlier Storm. This era only lasts for two days.

These two Storms are straightforward since we witnessed them in game. I won't go into details about them. We're still in the year 2007 according to 37.

The Current Year in Ch 5: 1914 [2007]

Chapter 4 takes place from August 26th to October 10th 1913. The new Chapter 5 begins in 1914.

Eight storms have taken place thus far. Here's a summary with the timeline for reference:

1st Storm (1999 -> 1996)

2nd Storm (1996 -> 1985) [Original: 2000]

3rd Storm (1987 -> 1976) [Original: 2003]

4th Storm (~1976 -> 1930s) [Original: 2004]

5th Storm (~1930s -> 1912s) [Original: 2006]

6th Storm (~1912s -> 1966s) [Original: 2007]

7th Storm (~1966s -> 1929s) [Original: 2007]

8th Storm (~1929s -> 1913s) [Original: 2007]

The Current Year in Chapter 5: 1914 [2007]

Random thoughts:

I hope this post helped paint a clearer picture of the Storms and the possible timeline! Cause, whew, the reason I made this whole timeline was to make sense of it myself. So much lore was dropped in the new chapter.

A question that remains unanswered:

How do people predict the Storm? How can they tell the time in the outside world?

Moissan: "Since Timekeeper hasn't reported the time of this era to the Foundation, you two, as the Foundation investigators, shouldn't know what year this is."

We know 37's group predict them through patterns and math, but what about the Manus Vindictae and Vertin? Vertin just seems to... innately know through her pocket watch and Storm countdown timer on her bracer, perhaps related to her great sense of arcanum. I'm really curious about that.

Biggest Takeaways:

The Storm isn't going backwards linearly and it has a limited impact area. So that means some places not hit by the Storm remains untouched, while others get reversed to whatever era the Storm brings. The first Storm probably had the widest impact.

This means an era in the 1912, for example, could be "reversed" to 1966 if it was hit by the 1966 Storm. That's what I'm getting from all of this. Anyone in the Storm impact area just... poofs, and arcanists/humans in that time era spontaneously appear with the buildings and such. I really love this idea-story wise we could jump around eras.

Then we have places that are completely immune like the Headquarters, Suitcase, and 37's island. They are the only ones who can consistently keep track of time as they're unaffected like spectators viewing the outside world. For the Foundation, Vertin is their way of tracking time in eras: what era did a Storm reverse a place to.

This collage and the text under it contains spoilers for the Lies of P game, read at your own risk!

On both Tumblr and AO3 there are quite a few posts and fanfics on Pinocchio x Romeo, so I decided to do a collage on them. For those who haven't read the original book or are more familiar with a certain version of Pinocchio that might have kept you from knowing this fact, "Lampwick" is a nickname for Romeo, another reason for people to support the ship between Pinocchio and his human friend. Who ends up becoming a puppet who embodies Romeo's soul and memories, just as Pinocchio is modelled after of Geppetto's late son, Carlos and has inherited some of Carlo's personality. Making him both Pinocchio and Carlo reborn. Carlo was Romeo's best friend he sought after he was turned into the King of Puppets. From what I could gather something happened to Romeo that led to him being turned into a puppet and when he woke up as one he found himself sitting on a throne he didn't ask for.

In the game ergo is crystallized souls and puppets who look just like the person that soul is of, they awoken as that person. I think that Romeo knows this from how he address Pinocchio as Carlo and had tried to reach out to him, but Pinocchio wasn't able to understand the puppet language he or the puppets he sent to find him spoke, and was made to think that the King of Puppets was behind the Puppet Frenzy. Along with the fact that Pinocchio doesn't remember his "past life" as Carlo, until after he killed Romeo in self defence. Luckily one of Pinocchio's allies at Hotel Krat is able to find a recorded message of Romeo trying to reach out to Carlo, in attends to remind him of the friendship they shared as humans and a hint to who was truly behind the Puppet Frenzy. When Pinocchio goes to the Isle of the Alchemists the ergo in the air allowed him to see Carlo's memories of Romeo, that is what the bottom two images are of. Due to the way Pinocchio was able to give Sophia a second chance at life in one of the endings, some are hoping that he would find away to do the same for Romeo.

Those who treat Pinocchio and Carlo as separate people has also made the "Pinocchio x Romeo" and "Carlo x Romeo" ships appear separate, but I still think that they should be treated as one single ship with Pinocchio awakening more of his "past life" essence as Carlo. That is why some of the ship's few known titles only reference Pinocchio or Carlo with letters of Romeo's name. On Pinocchio's end they are "Promeo" (which is why favourite of the titles since LoP Pinocchio is mostly known as "P"), "Pinomeo", "Rompino", "PuppetShipping", "RomeoP" and "Pmeo". As for the ones on Carlo's end, that focuses on the people they once were, they have gone by "Carlomeo", "Carmeo", "Romcarlo" and "Carom".

how many portraits are there of him? What are they? :0 The only one I know of that was made of him when he was alive, all the rest I've seen seem to just be attempts to make Currant's painting look nicer lmao

On Percy Shelley's appearance: portraits and descriptions

Existing portraits include: sketches by Edward Ellerker Williams, some reprinted in Newman Ivey White's Shelley biography, a drawing by Mary Shelley (sometimes said to be by Williams), some portraits of him as a child, some missing or unidentified portraits mentioned in Mary Shelley's letters, portraits by Marianne Hunt (Leigh Hunt's wife), the sketches and painting by Amelia Curran and their many copies you've seen.

Many of the portraits don't resemble each other, which as an artist myself I can only assume is a reflection of the skill of the varying artists, some of which were only beginners. Curran was a practicing art student and apparently threw her Shelley painting into her fireplace and nearly destroyed it at one point lmao. I personally struggle to capture likeness myself and if I made a portrait of Shelley it would probably look nothing like him.

Then there are some extended descriptions and anecdotes on him, his personality, and his appearance. The best ones are given in the memoirs of his friends Medwin, Hogg, Trelawny, Hunt, Hazlitt's essay "On Paradox and Common Place," the 1863 essay by Thornton Leigh Hunt (Hunt's son) titled "Shelley: By One Who Knew Him" (a favorite of mine), Claire Clairmont's letters and journals, a description from "the life and letters of Joseph Severn," Horace Smith in his 1847 essay series "A Graybeard's Gossip About His Literary Acquaintances" (essays No. 8 and 9), Benjamin Haydon's autobiography, Sophia Stacey's diary excerpts published in "Shelley and his Friends in Italy" (another favorite of mine), and letters by his sister Hellen Shelley published in Hogg's Shelley biography (some of the most interesting anecdotes).

Then there are miscellaneous reports mostly colleced in the Shelley biographies by Richard Holmes, Newman Ivey White, and James Bieri (these are the best and most comprehensive Shelley biographies with Holmes "Pursuit" in first place and Bieri a close second).

Mary Shelley's letters and journals are filled with memories of him, and she wrote about him in the editions of his works she edited: Posthumous Poems (1824), The Poetical Works of Percy Bysshe Shelley (1839), Essays, Letters from Abroad, Translations and Fragments (1840). It's so fascinating to read her intelligent analysis of his work knowing she was there when he wrote most of it, and to see her share some of her anecdotes about their life and things that inspired specific works of his. She always focuses on his writing and philosophies more than his personal life because of how much slander they had received due to their scandals, etc. (adultery, radical politics, atheism, the custody battle with his first wife's parents, etc.) -- I can't recall if she ever wrote an extended account of his appearance. She saw him as a soulmate and exalted his powerful inner spirit above all else, and described his physical frame as being a weak sort of chain which had bound him to the world, reflected in his poor health and restlessness.

Uhm actually could we please get you started on the gifts Wentworth brings Anne the first time he has to leave her behind?

I would, of course, be delighted really. You are joined in this request by @to-the-fishies, @darkhorse-javert, and @agardenandlibrary, so: by semi-popular demand, The Gifts Headcanon. But first, the context. I am convinced that Anne copes much better with enforced separation than Frederick does, actually. It's true that she says to Captain Harville: "We live at home, quiet, confined, and our feelings prey upon us." But she is less confined as Mrs. Wentworth than she was as Miss Anne Elliot. She has a household to manage; she can receive sympathy and advice from Mrs. Harville, and can visit Mrs. Smith and the Musgroves as she is inclined, and write newsy letters to Sophia Croft. Also, temporary separation from a beloved and adoring husband is not the same thing as being conscious of the dangers run by someone from whom you are, to your infinite chagrin, perpetually estranged. For Captain Wentworth, meanwhile, Anne cannot be pushed to the back of his mind, a person he can attempt, however vainly, to convince himself was cold and weak-minded and probably does not think of him at all. No, now he knows her to be entirely his, as he has always been hers (more tender, more tried, etc. Have I mentioned that I love them?)

Anyway! Captain Wentworth has learned to brook being happier than he deserves. Anne has never been happier. The crew of the ship, of course, are too well-disciplined to show open dismay at the lack of a writing desk in the equipment, the even more conspicuous lack of Mrs. Wentworth herself. But the perpetual glow of her happiness is, well, missed. And while she was, of course, too tactful to question the cook’s authority, it is also true that the gravy became less lumpy once she was firmly established on board. It is not long before permission to inquire after her is requested and granted, and the bosun is rather shortly informed that Mrs. Wentworth is perfectly well, if not in a condition to be on board ship. Thanks for the crew’s solicitude is added as an afterthought. The first mate has the good sense not to congratulate the captain, who does not appear to be a man in any mood for congratulation. Captain Wentworth is of course too skilled in his post to let his own preoccupations directly affect his professional discipline. But after a week or so, he becomes sensible of the fact that his tension is communicating itself to the crew. He stops (to the best of his ability) communicating it.

In many ways, the ship is fortunate on this voyage. They encounter no particularly bad weather, no particularly well-armed privateers. So it is with a general sense of satisfaction that they return to port. As is his custom, the captain oversees the quartermaster’s distribution of pay and papers, seeing the men off with a word of farewell, and praise where it has been earned. (It is, of course, one of the reasons they hold him in such high regard.) Usually, this ritual is gotten through as quickly as possible by all participants. But Captain Wentworth becomes aware, gradually, that not all of the crew is dispersing. Some of it is. But there is also a growing knot of men behind the bosun: the sort of obviously expectant grouping large enough to cause anxiety to captains less sure of their men.

The bosun requests, and is given, permission to speak. The captain’s eyebrows are slightly raised. “By your leave,” explains the bosun, “we have, er, a few things we hoped you’d be good enough to take to your lady wife.” There is a great nodding and shuffling at this, a surprising quantity of grinning.

“Oh,” says Captain Wentworth, and adds that he’s sure Mrs. Wentworth will be very pleased, and will take it very kindly of them. He is, after all, quite sure of this. That Anne will take things kindly is one of the things he is most sure of in the world. This assurance being given, the gifts are handed forward, pulled out of pockets and knotted kerchiefs, and delivered out of carefully cupped hands. There is an assortment of wooden animals: not only a dog and a horse and a cat, but a whale and even a mermaid. There is a little Noah’s Ark with its pairs of passengers, slightly lopsided but with an unusual attention to nautical detail (it has a gangplank that can be operated with twine.) There are two carved rattles. Finally, with a great nudging and beaming, a model of the ship itself is brought forward. On the poop deck is an unmistakable little figure in a rose-colored dress, seated at a writing desk.

In the ensuing silence, the ship’s captain clears his throat twice. Then he says: “Briggs, you have misled me. These are not a few things. This is a shop window, or a cabinet of curiosities.” This would-be brusque commendation is greeted with a collective sigh of relief and pleasure. The bosun suggests modestly that the captain might wish to think of it as a nursery; the crew is told that its captain hopes that they will soon have the opportunity to drink Mrs. Wentworth’s health, and given the means to do so. Reciprocal good wishes are reiterated, and then the crew actually does disperse.

Anne, prudent as ever, does not go down to the harbor. But she does go into the street when she knows her husband is expected, and gives him both her hands to kiss. She decides, after a few moments, that she will have to be the one to pay the porter, since Frederick appears very fully occupied in looking at her. She is expecting the man with the trunk, but not the boy carrying the crate stuffed with straw. “My dear,” says Anne, with good hopes of wringing sensible words out of the man she loves most in the world, “what on earth is that?”

Captain Wentworth casts a glance over his shoulder, and smiles, and begins to fish the requisite coins out of his pockets. “That,” he tells his wife, “is a token of the affection and esteem in which you are held by the crew. Now come inside so that I can decently give you a token of mine.”

KH OC Week Day 1 Part 1 - (Re)Introductions

Hello again! I’m back with my Scala Survivors AU OCs, although they and the AU as a whole have had some changes since last year’s entries and the Dark Road finale. (RIP 75% of my DR era headcanons lol, but I did mostly enjoy how the story played out in canon.)

Major spoilers for Dark Road ahead (for this post and the rest of my entries this week)!

The premise of this AU: Due to the meddling of a certain dark witch, the events of Dark Road played out a little differently in this worldline. TL;DR - Hermod, Urd, Vor, Vidar, Hoder, and Bragi survived Baldr’s rampage. With the exception of “Bragi” (as Luxu had to wait a while to finally swap vessels for Plot Reasons™), they lived all the way to the BBS era where they’ve taken on apprentices just like Eraqus and Xehanort. My OCs for this week are said apprentices.

(Fair Warning: This is not a fix-it AU, this is a “break more things” AU. Just throwing it out there now.)

We’ll start with the two characters that underwent the least amount of changes since the finale dropped:

Name: Sophia

Gender: Female (She/Her)

Age: 19 years old during the events of BBS

Biggest changes: Sophia got a redesigned keyblade with a new name and new outfits, but not that much has changed for her story-wise. Her post-timeskip design now includes matching scars with Brandr and Virdandi (but in different places for each of them) due to the attack in Traverse Town. (To go along with the emotional scarring, of course!)

Name: Ferrum

Gender: Male (He/Him)

Biggest changes: Besides aging up by two years, Ferrum also made it out of the rewrite relatively unscathed. Most of his changes happened as a result of fleshing out his backstory and motivation for being a keyblade wielder, as well as adding a “supporting cast” for him in the period of time before Brandr and Virdandi were apprentices.

Speaking of those two, of course my two OC fankids were the most affected by the post-DR rewrite, especially:

Name: Brandr

Gender: Male (He/Him)

Age: 18 years old during the events of BBS

Biggest changes: Oh boy. Obviously my “Bragi is just a red herring because giving him a name that’s only one letter off from Braig is way too obvious, even for Nomura” theory didn’t really pan out. (At least his cool but anachronistic jacket makes a lot more sense now.) With the timeline established by the events of DR, a lot of plot contrivances would have to occur for Brandr to exist at all now… but I did it anyway!

In his new backstory, Brandr is being raised by his single mother (a free spirit who’s into older men) and Bragi/Luxu isn’t a presence in his life at all. In fact, Luxu has no idea Brandr even exists due to being distracted by the previously mentioned Plot Reasons™ and he didn’t think to check up on the gorgeous lady from Scala that he’d had a brief fling with before finally swapping vessels.

If he had known about Brandr, Luxu would be freaked out to discover that his son has developed the same rare power that the Master of Masters had. Whether due to centuries of Luxu’s body-swapping doing weird things to his genes or just a cruel twist of cosmic irony, Brandr has the ability to glimpse visions of the future. Except Brandr doesn’t have the same level of control over his powers as the MoM and the uncontrollable visions that resulted from this socially ostracized him from most of his homeworld and basically ruined his childhood until Master Urd taught him how to (mostly) manage his condition.

Brandr’s driving motivation as a character has also changed pre and post-timeskip. When he meets Sophia, his greatest desire is social acceptance. After the events in Traverse Town, his main goal is to learn how to change the terrible futures he foresees for himself and his friends. Destiny doesn’t really work like that though. And the power of foresight alone doesn’t make one a competent chessmaster…

Design-wise, pre-timeskip Brandr has clothing more appropriate for the world and time period he lives in instead of t-shirts and sweatpants. I wanted to keep the anachronistic clothing concept for his post-timeskip look, but this time he’s dressed like someone from a past era. Due to Brandr’s newfound interest in history (as the past is the only time period he can only experience through books), Sophia and Virdandi (but mostly Sophia) got him a coat in the style of Scala’s Gothic era for his eighteenth birthday. He might’ve cried a little.

(And that’s my in-universe justification for why he’s dressed like a knockoff Bloodborne cosplayer lol.)

Brandr’s keyblade has been slightly redesigned, with the most important new detail being the Gazing Eye on the token. Brandr might not know who the eye belongs to but he knows they’re watching him, so Virdandi’s dad made him a metal cover in the shape of an apple to encase the end of the keychain.

Gender: Gender: Female (She/Her)

Age: 17 years old during the events of BBS

Biggest changes: Virdandi’s story also has a lot of notable differences compared to the previous year. Due to Dark Road using the previous name for one of the upperclassmen, Virdandi’s dad is now named Magni. (Sigyn, who is now Virdandi’s little sister instead of Brandr’s, doesn’t need a name change because the Norse mythological figure she’s named after is different from Sigrun I think?) Neither he nor Urd get a statue this time due to the surviving keyblade wielders trying to cover up the details of the “Calamity” and Baldr’s corruption. (But that’s a story for another time.)

Speaking of Virdandi’s parents, due to the canon timeline established between the events of DR and BBS, the only reason Virdandi exists at all (since Urd should be old enough to be a grandmother by the time her daughter is born) is because of a helpful scientist who owed Urd a favor after she saved her from an experiment gone terribly wrong. Virdandi is biologically Urd and Magni’s daughter, just grown in a tank for the first nine months of her existence. (She’s mostly just sad she didn’t get any superpowers from it.)

Aside from Sigyn, Virdandi also took on Brandr’s burden of expectations from having a Keyblade Master as a parent and the strained parent-child relationship resulting from that. In Virdandi and Urd’s case, however, the issue is that Virdandi actually wants to be a keyblade wielder but Urd doesn’t have time to train her because she’s busy trying to help Brandr manage his powers. Virdandi’s reaction to this lack of attention from her mother is to act out, causing issues with not only Urd but Hoder as well until another keyblade master steps in.

With Bragi out of the picture due to the Dark Road finale reveal, Vidar is now Virdandi’s keyblade master (mostly because I thought it’d be interesting to see what would happen if he lived to face the consequences of his actions in DR). Their relationship is a lot less antagonistic because Virdandi admires him for having wandered the worlds as a Seeker and Vidar has the patience to deal with Virdandi’s idiosyncrasies and shut down any of her temper tantrums.

Aside from the story additions, Virdandi also got a new keyblade design and a different post-timeskip haircut. She adopted Urd’s weird turtleneck thing into her post-timeskip outfit as a sign of their relationship improving.

My TouchStarved OC/MC

“I fear the Gods must find enjoyment from my misery”

Seeing as I too have fallen down the rabbit hole that is touch starved I wanted to share my character with all of you (perhaps then I can go back to living normally and not obsessing over it!)

Shynah is a quiet woman who despite seeming somber does have a very kind heart within, though this kind demenour hides the dark labryinth within her own mind.

she loves books very much and finds reading an escape from her reality, from her secret love of fairytales with happy endings she can only dream of to more factual books on ancient civilizations, myths and more. She also likes to write in many ways from keeping a note of her visions and feelings to letters that she never ends up posting she even dabbles in writing short stories or even poems ofvher own though she has never shared them with anyone She is also very wise to many a persons surprise* and seemingly knows just what to say when she does decide to speak. If you do want her to speak more ask her about whats she's currently reading or to share her knowledge and she will happily comply, (if she likes and trusts you) though then the trouble is getting her to stop to take time to breath.

*they're mostly surprise as she is usually off in her own mind and busy thinking or imagining something and so she may come off as ditsy and stupid when she is actually very intelligent.

I chose the unnamed path for Shynah as not only does it sound the most interesting to me with the fact she can sense the presence of other supernatural forces, it goes along with her back story and "gifts" very well.

Mentioned in her dislikes are her "vivid nightmares" as that is what she calls them but these nightmares that haunt her every night are actually prophetic dreams unfortunately they are never happy ones she is always bestowed with dreams of death, despair and doom sometimes the visions even occur during her waking hours. These visions aren't just about herself though commonly they show her tragedies or unfortunate events that are about to occur to others around her, she hates having them for she feels helpless to stop them and thus ensuing guilt in herself. Thankfully when she has nightmares or visions concerning her own fate she feels more in control of steering her fate to avoid the tradgedy though it doesn't make her any less anxious.

Also mentioned is her dislike of cruelty towards children and animals, while Shynah's quest for a cure for her curse is her main priority at the present moment even before she knew it was a curse (though it would be a lie if she hadn't subconsciously thought it didn't feel right to "free people from their mortal shackles and ascend them to a higher plane closer to the Gods" as the priestesses had described it to her) she had a dream of opening a free schoolhouse for children of lower backgrounds and those who were orphans, it angered her that just because they were not of a noble blood they were denied the right to education and despite the hardships she may have faced at the temple she is at least grateful for the high quality education she received under the tutelage of the many priests and priestesses though it was mainly only thanks to high priestess Sophia (Who was her mother figure during her years at the temple though perhaps a Mother Gothel in reality) that she was granted such an honour.

Finally simply explained Shynah would not be Vere's No1 fan nor even a No2 fan, she finds him annoying, bratty and unnecessarily savage. She's not so stupid as to deliberately start a fight with him she knows he's dangerous and the vision she had of him killing her only solidified her distrust and dislike of him. Let's just say she agrees with the senobium that he is best kept under lock and key. She mainly tries to ignore and avoid him if she can but if she does run into him her expressions which have always been very telling easily let him know what she thinks of him.

Seeing as I probably won't be getting time to draw anymore of her the flower I would associate with her would be angelica which represents:

A gentle looking plant that is tougher than it seems, can be found deep in the thickets and borders of dark and quiet forests.

Its is believed by many priests and priestesses that drinking a tincture blend of Angelica before sleep would bring upon prophetic visions sent from the Gods above, otherwise Angelica flowers are collected by common folk to hang above beds and doorways for their protective properties in keeping away ills and evils.

(My witchcraft side comes in handy for all this knowledge at last!!)

I wanted to draw her body type more like Portia from the Arcana but as I am more of a writer not an artist of paints and pencils I feel I did not manage to get that point across nonetheless I will know in my own head and that is all that matters.

Her hair was actually to her waist but before leaving the temple she cut it and sacrificed her hair to the eternal fire with in the temple which represents the Goddess llywen, (who isn't a real world goddess though perhaps inspired by one) who was the main goddess the temple was devoted to, for safe travels on her journey. It didn't work out much near the end or did it?

I'm drawn towards Leander's route for her, a little bit intrigued by Ais's too, and I feel the unnamed origin caters best to his path but still Leander will be my first choice for Shynah. I feel it will be a little bit ironic if he is a cult leader like everyone else thinks for it will be her running away from one cult to end up in another! I'm not making too many guesses until the game comes out but I do feel Leander may be "a bit" yandere. Though you know what they say about Yanderes at least they're loyal!!

Anyway I've rambled on enough about Shynah even though there is more to tell I'll leave it here for next time!

one thing ive been thinking about a lot after rewatching the whole season maybe. three or four times now (i am not mentally sound) is just how much the theme throughout the show is Being Something You Are Not. and its such a gradual realization cause you start with one character but the more you think about it you realize how that theme affects everybody and everything about the show.

i read something in an analysis post written by somebody MUCH more eloquent than me about Silna and Crozier and the parallel of them being thrust into a responsibility they didn't want. Silna was forced into a role that she knew she could not handle and it fails on her! multiple times! despite having NOTHING to do with everything going wrong shes been shoved into everyone's field of vision as The One Responsible INCLUDING by her own community. and by all means she does try to fill those shoes but even Tuunbaq has a say and it doesn't want her. and by the time she tries again its already too late.

and Crozier's situation wasn't identical but it's very similar in the sense that he did not want to be here and do this. being the only one not volunteered, but *asked* to go on this expedition, having already not been what Sophia wanted but doing as she asks anyways. good grief the man is in the middle of writing his resignation letter to sir john when he gets mauled. and now hes got no choice and that ALSO fails on him and gets people hurt and eventually its too late for him to make anything better.

but once you notice it with somebody else its like oh! that's right! EVERYBODY is doing this. sir john wasn't anybody's choice to lead the expedition and in fact he is actively detrimental to everybody's safety with his choices. Fitzjames is not half the man he says he is and has actively been lying To Everybody about about who he is an his accomplishments Forever. Goodsir is NOT a doctor and despite how happy it seems to make him to be considered as such he knows its not true and all of that scientific knowledge ends up killing SO many people. Hickey thinks hes hot shit and thinks he can gain control of everybody else AND Tuunbaq and yet he can hardly even do his own dirty work and gets other people's hands dirty before he does it himself.

i mean if you think about it too even the landscape isn't what it seems. they all think its a conquerable land and then they get there and realize its not. and because of this, they assume that must mean there's no way to survive out there. except there IS. there IS wonder. it IS beautiful. life CAN thrive out there and it HAS they are just so hazardous and invasive to the environment that they don't get to see it!!! they don't see the wonder and they are trekking to their deaths amongst a COMPLETE lie. this isn't, like, News to anybody else who's watched the show i just noticed how it all connects everybody and it blew my mind a little bit

Being the oldest of four, August always felt like he was the caretaker. Not that his parents ever made him feel like he had to take care of his younger siblings, but he enjoyed doing it. He was a natural protector and wanting to make sure that everybody was safe and sound. He was always helping his parents out in the best way that he could and that was even in between acing all of his classes as well as being the captain of the baseball team from the time he was eleven until he graduated high school.

August was a real ladies man in high school but he knew that he didn't want to stay in New York for the rest of his life so he a made a point to not make anything serious. And even though August was great at baseball and was offered many scholarships, he ended up wanting to focus on his studies and he turned down all of the offers and went to Boston University for accounting. This is where August really found out where he wanted to be. He joined a fraternity and was living his best life. Not only was he popular, but he was smart as all hell and he was breezing through his classes much faster than they ever expected him to.

When it came to making a decision about after graduation, August decided that he was going to stay at the school for two more years to get his masters degree in accounting so that he could one up any of the competition that he had to face in the world. He of course completed his graduate degree with flying colors and was named valedictorian of his class. He got to give his speech in front of everyone in school and even his whole family who of course was there to support him.

While the rest of his family went back to New York, he remained in Boston because it seemed that he belonged there for the long term. He became a financial analyst for a startup company that one of his friends from college was starting. He wanted to be supportive and it seemed like a great opportunity. August worked for his friend for five years and then went out to be a senior financial analyst for Harvard. At this time in his life, this is when August had met the love of his live. The two were together for three years before they were married and once again, his family was there for it.

After the wedding though, his parents had decided that they wanted to relocate out of New York and go south so they ended up in Austin, Texas. They seemed happy there and they were good since they didn't have to worry about their children anymore because they were all grown and moved out. Over time, the family had moved closer to their parents because after visiting, they were happy about the area and wanted to move there too. Well when August was thirty five, he welcomed his daughter Sophia into the world. The two were so happy to have their own baby and everything seemed good, up until a year ago. Out of nowhere August's wife took off out of town and had left a letter stating that she had to go and that she couldn't explain but would reach out to him when she could.

Heartbroken, August didn't know what to do because now he was a single father and he was trying to make it on his own in Boston and after six months, he realized he needed to be near his family. It couldn't have come at a better time because his father was given only a year to live and August knew that this was the perfect time for him to go to Austin where most of his family have been anyways because if they all needed anything it was to be there for each other so August took an accountant job at a law firm just to get on his feet and to get into town.
