Hey pookie, how are you! I was wondering if you could do a romantic spn pref for sam, dean, castiel, crowley, and gabe? The plot would be that they're on a hunt with the reader and they have to infiltrait a strip club. The reader is female so she poses as a striper (she wears a white angle outfit). At one she pulls she pulls one of the guys into a private room to talk about the plan, but they see a camera in the room so the reader gives the guy a lap dance while explaining the plan as to not get caught. There is alot of sexual tension, and the guys have a crush on the reader. At this point they're only friends though. Thanks girl!

dean didn’t imagine this being his wednesday night.
his eyes watched you on the stage, walking around and pretending to be busy. the dainty Angel costume you were wearing hugged you in all the right places - just enough for him to imagine more.
in his distraction, he dosent realize you’re trying to get his attention.
he was suddenly pulled into one of the back, private rooms. he looked over and met your pretty eyes. he smiled.
“dean, i got info.” you smiled, closing and locking the door behind you both.
he was going to respond but his eyes caught something else. a camera. it seemed like you noticed too because you sighed.
dena watched you pull the chair to where the camera faced.
“sit.” you said in a seductive voice.
it’s just for the bit.’ dean reminded himself. he shakily sat down.
you walked toward him, back facing the camera. his eyes widened and face blushed as you started to give him a lap dance.
he was stiff as a board, too nervous to move.
“at least pretend you like it. we have to sell it so we don’t get caught.” you whisper in his ear, pressing kisses to his jawline.
shivers went down his spine and he nodded, grabbing onto your hips.
he stared into your eyes as you spoke, only being able to focus on the feeling of your hips on his, moving and grinding against him. his jaw clenched and he bit his lip, rubbing your hips with his thumbs.
you spoke about the case but he could barley hear you.
eventually you stopped, smiling at him.
“pay up, lover.” you grinned playfully.
he tried to hide his boner, giving you a forced smile as you walked away. his breath heavy and cheeks beet red.

Sam:
sam was nose deep in one of his papers of his research he scraped together. his cheeks were red, trying not to look up at you.
not because he didn’t want to - no. he wanted to. more than anything. but if he did, he knew he wouldn’t be able to look away.
despite his efforts, when he felt a hand on his shoulder he had to look up. it was you.
the white angel outfit you were wearing caught his attention. it was tight and revealing, something he wasn’t used to seeing you in.
“come with me.” you lean down and whisper to him. he just nodded, following you.
he then found himself sitting on a chair in one of the back rooms.
“there’s cameras. i have to play my part sammy.” you said to him, and he nodded
“anything you want.”
he blushed again as you started to give him a lap dance. his eyes widened.
you spoke softly about the case, but he could only focus on your body and how it moved atop of his own.
he pretended he was listening, but he was struggling. only feeling the fogginess of his mind and the weight of your body on his lap.
it was over much too soon for his liking
you got off of him and smiled.

he was grinning, listening to the plan while also enjoying the thrusts and movements of your body

So over this. Arrogant and officious, narrow minded and phobic entitled stans thinking they have rights to boss anyone else around (while they deny being phobic of course! Couldn’t be them! They’re never the problem! It’s only those evil hellers!)
The idea that to be a good fan you must ignore queer coding and deny the canon intimations when it comes to bi Dean, queer Cas, and Destiel, to be a good fan you can only see it as platonic and straight, needs to DIAF.
So…if we don’t lie about what we see in canon we’re bad fans.
If we don’t comply with fandom fascists telling us we didn’t see what we watched, if we don’t discard our own media literacy, we’re evil and ruining the fandom.
If we don’t go to our knees trying to placate antis then we’re “bullying” and “divisive” and “disrespectful.”
What absolute absurdist dreck fandom theater nonsense.
What an inane media illiterate hateful tire fire.
Every time some twit makes a post screeching that Dean is straight and if you don’t agree you’re violating a fictional character, or that the love of Dean and Cas can only be platonic because spnstan1000 or jaredluvr2brosonly or Jensen4everDeanstan said so they’re stoking the flames on purpose. While they virtue signal about being sane and good fans.
And blaming spn itself misses the point, especially when we know how much work the creatives did to get around the corporate owned entertainment system.
Blame for lack of openness falls on the corporate system. Because the board and the shareholders of entertainment corporations are mostly a bunch of old, white, straight, conservatives who fear change and cling to status quo due to their own biases, where even the CEOs who want change have to tread carefully.
We need to stop trampling over the spn writers on this and also acknowledge antis aren’t reasonable and they will not stop. Sometimes antis happen to benefit from a crummy system.
But even for a show that was queer coded we have every right to our reading and we should own our reading.
Waiting around for open acknowledgment of the kind that has magazine spreads and declarative official PR statements before we’ll do it is just leaving the patio doors open for the fandom wolves who don’t deserve to be given the time of day.
SPN IS MY HOUSE. And I will not be told what to do by destielh8terbrolove3000, or straight Dean evangelists, destielsucks80 or the downright media illiterate gatekeeping, othering culture, and denialism games of arrogant stans.

Ficbinding: A Complete Kingdom by Komodobits
The fic: SPN, Castiel/Dean Winchester, 85k
This fic had me staying up until 2am to read, it swept me up and flattened me. It's so well-written, so faithful to the characters, so well constructed that all you can do is strap in and enjoy the ride and hope you're not sobbing by the end (a vain hope). It's such a good story, period, that I think it can be enjoyed by non-SPN people. Mind the tags. Summary:
The sea; it swallows me. It comes up to my knees and it swallows me. The boys owe Jody a few dozen favours, and so when her niece goes missing near an old fishing village on the coast of Maine, Dean, Sam, and a newly human Castiel agree to take the case on. They settle into an old abandoned lighthouse-keepers' cottage, and slowly the tide comes in. (post-s8)
The bind: I'm so proud of this one, guys. I tried new things, pretty much everything worked, and I learned new skills!
Let's start with the colors. The story is sea-themed and stormy, so I chose black, dark blue and silver for the cover and light grey and light blue for the headbands and bookmark. I meant to use white for the headbands, but discovered I don't have white ones. It's the first time I do an overlap of fabrics and it turned out awesome. The silver stripe is a simple gift wrapper ribbon.
Typesetting:
The title font is so cool, with a droplet effect. For the part titles I chose a kind of blurry, hazy font because this story is about perception of reality and the loss of it. The chapter titles of the first part are solid, then they're altered in the following parts, to symbolize a slipping grasp on reality as time goes on.
I put headers and bottom-of-page numbers this time, which forced me to figure new things out in LibreOffice and do some maths 💪
The image of a lighthouse also changes in the three parts of the story. If you've read this fic, you know why.
Little wave as a divider.
Making the book:
I hadn't made a big book (printed at the A5 format) in a while and it felt amazing going back to that. It stretched my maths muscles. It's relaxing to do a book and not have to fight for every millimeter, like with small books. It's a more forgiving format.
Trimming went amazingly this time, I'm finding my footing slowly.
I had to sandpaper the edges to color them silver. I don't mind working with sandpaper, but it's quite brutal on the book, and wouldn't do it every time.
The edge painting was made with a silver marker, so I knew it wouldn't be perfect, but it looks good enough and doesn't peel away.
My corners are improving! They look almost perfectly square.
In reaction to the last bind I made, I augmented the overhang (still don't know if that's the word) between the edge of the covers and the edge of the textblock. From 3mm to 5mm. I'm very happy with this, it looks much better!
It's rare that I'm disappointed in a fabric, so I'll highlight here that I don't like this endpaper. It's pretty, but it's a sort of glossy magazine paper that didn't react to glue so well.
Overall, I love this book and this story deeply. I think it may be my best work technically so far.
Fonts: Rained (title), Moonrising (author name), Louis George Cafe (text), Brightness, Brightness Book and Brightness inverted (chapter titles), Snorter (part titles).
Materials: 2mm grey board, 80g/m² ivory Clairfontaine A4 paper, synthetic ribbon and headbands (found on amazon), black and blue cloth and endpaper from Schmedt, silver non-textile ribbon (bought in craft store).
Feel free to ask me more about materialsand fonts (or whatever), it won’t bother me at all to tell you what I used, but I’m too lazy rn to write it in this post that’s long enough already.

why dean was absolutely frothing to kill chuck/God in s14-15 imo
By s14 we're slowly starting to see the big series villain-reveal is God (spoilers! - but it is a 15xseason series that ended almost 3+ years ago so ya know....catchup) aka chuck.
And you see dean descend into this despair n depression and then absolutely frothing-at-the-mouth-desperate to kill him - at.any.cost - including making Jack into a soul-bomb ... the kid that he did *this* for finally.... birthdays n teaching him to drive in the impala...
And there's been a ton of text on the ptsd dean is sufferring at that stage and it's finally cracked him up (totally plausible) and there's a ton of analysis on how the brother bond with sam talked him down and out of using jack n that the ends doesn't justify the means and "not at any cost" theme from sam and the fact that dean was willing to listen even in that moment (contrasted to chuck n amara) - & i read an awesome analysis n scene-by-scene n line by line breakdown on spn-blr the other day (I Rb-d it the other day) of how dean was stopped cold n brought out of his madness by sam asking him if he'd be willing to sacrifice him ie sam as well in his mad quest to kill God n how dean desperately pleads his case n that chuck MUST die....n I agree with all of it...
BUT what I haven't seen yet is any theories on WHY dean was so angry about it n absolutely crazy about killing god/chuck.... coz here's what's odd to me, about it being dean:
DEAN is the GOOD SOLDIER - he respects authority and father figures in general n even models himself in the patriarchical god's image (be it John or chuck I let you decide) - his whole "free will" thing is a sham / or only within narrowly defined confines acceptable to the patriarchs, because he's always been the one who's followed the rules set for him: by dad,by the hunting life chosen for him by dad, by societal norms,of "being a man", he's always toed the line set for him by dad n although he thinks angels are dickbags, he unquestionably thinks they're the "good guys" - or the "better" option against the alternative: demons n hell (s4 or anytime really even in midst of angel-wars)....he tends to be fairly black n white n even his "rebellion" is only when sam convinces him to walk off the board by saying no to Michael (s5) ...he may scoff at angels n God but he still thinks they're the "appropriate authority" n so while he's upset with how things are run, he's not after a regime change.... he's not the one into "free will" to the point that he'd be willing to kill the ONE TRUE PATRIARCHICAL AUTHORITY ie God...
That was always SAM's gig (n Lucifer)....SAM was the "it's not who you are, it's what you do n you can choose what you do"-guy, SAM was always the one questioning everything n never toeing the line and noticing the corruption in the system n pointing out alternatives n options to everything that they were "destined" for n told to be.... SAM was the one advocating for thinking for yourself...or hell, thinking at all, period... but yes, SAM was also the one with the faith in a higher power n the praying type n had been since his younger days - always the one wanting to believe that there was a higher authority that could save him, absolve him of his sins .... but also not really believing that he deserved to be saved if there really was such a higher power of good... he chose to have faith n hope despite it all...in God.
N then, after all that, they discover it was chuck after all... think about what it means to them in their pov, for a sec:
chuck wrote their lives the way it was with losing their families n letting demons at baby Sam n sam being sold to demon deal by their mother before he was born n dads rage n neglect n conflicted leading to both of them growing up so twisted n isolated n ...
Chuck wrote the big showdown n vessels for heaven n hell n the big throw down pitting brother against each other
Chuck wrote the dying n losing each other n pieces of themselves over n over n over n over n over...
Chuck wrote dean going to hell n sam being tortured in the cage for centuries...
Chuck wrote the big painful heartbreaking,soul-breaking breakups n the lack of trust sown between them by others n by themselves
Chuck wrote the tender moments n the "bro-ments" n "fan-fiction songs" n the caring for each other's wounds n the silent communication between them n the moments of ease n care n laughter n love...
...because, Chuck wrote them as soulmates - wrote the confusing n complicated feelings they had for each other n what it did to them growing up n even after - having to deal with it n figure it out n carry the burden of this connection that meant that they could never fully connect with anyone else despite their attempts n so grew isolated - that never went away even as it twisted n grew thorns n tore them to shreds n they could never let each other go even as it destroyed each other n themselves - because that connection wouldn't let them.... Chuck wrote that.
For his own sick pleasure n entertainment.... which means he heard ALL of sams desperate pleas n prayers throughout his life growing up...n enjoyed it even as he carried on turning the screws on sam (&by extn, dean in deans pov)....which means that all the faith n hope sam chose to put in him ie God- was completely misplaced n in fact in the literal wrong hands - talk about a violation worse than rape?... sam had his faith violated by the very God he chose to believe in after all he'd been through
N the thing is that just like when dean recoiled when John told him that he'd have to kill sam if he couldn't save him n got so mad at John for doing that to him....after he'd given him everything he had...
Similarly, Dean realised a lot of the above n what has him frothing is 2x main things in my mind:
The absolute fury at God for breaking his beloved brother's heart (n soul n mind n body) , doing this to him DELIBERATELY- ie he'd be outraged n furious on sams behalf n all that he's had to go through just for chucks shits n giggles... this would be the righteous big brother-dean fury of epic proportions...
This one I reckon is more on his/their personal behalf n by that I mean their "complicated feelings" for each other - knowing it was there n both felt it n they were brothers would have fked em up pretty badly....n dean especially, often said or did things explicitly to distance himself or sam when younger to deal with this in the "right way" - which absolutely made them both miserable n he hurt sam in the process...he knows sam similarly feels his own guilt n is the source of his self loathing n "uncleanness" just like it is source of dean's amongst others ....BUT by that late season-stage they had both grown to accept it n work with it and had arrived at an understanding of it and each other and by then, they'd felt like it was the "one thing they had of their very own" - not from hunting life,or something from dad or the devil or the destiny laid out for them etc, etc.... it was theirs - they'd found something precious n beautiful n unique n "special" in each other and WITH each other that they'd never found anywhere else n finally had stopped fighting it n had grown into it.....and EVEN THAT wasn't theirs n theirs alone- chuck wrote that....n to dean who'd have struggled with it so much - it'd feel like the one good, non-murdery place in himself n what he'd built with sam was also taken away/polluted n tainted by goddamn chuck....so it's deans violation too...
So yeah it's freewill that dean wants n is fighting to kill chuck for - but it's because it threatens their love n it's a choice that they both made together n he will not have that taken away
n this also is why he thought sam of all people would understand n see that n want to take his ie dean's side that chuck had to go no matter the cost
Anyways sorry it got long... but yeah...this is what my spn-brainrotted brain thinks on why dean was jonesing for chucks blood - coz it hurt sam n coz it invalidated/threatened the integrity of their choice to be who they were to each other....

Im OP of that holiday post, and i saw you wanted an explanation on Destiel Putin Day, so here is what I remember:
An explanation of Destiel Putin day. Picture it, November 5th, 2020. It's U.S. Election Day, the final season of Supernatural, is currently on air, and I'm anxious because if the cheeto wins again, I'm concinved he'd to something terrible.
Destiel Cannon: This is the aire step of Castiel Confessing to Dean. This is where the meme came from. That Castiel says "I love you" and Dean doesn't say much of anything back EXCEPT for in the Spanish dub. We all lost our collective shit. As a person who hadn't watched since season 6 I lost my shit. All of Tumblr was loosing their shit. But there was more
To this day I don't know what started the rumors, but there were rumors all over the place online that evening that Russian "President" putin was going to step down. He was resigning and leaving people the fuck alone. (This sadly, did not happen. I hate that man)
But, as stated earlier, it was also U.S. Presidential election day. It was Cheeto vs. Generic white man. And generic man won.
This is why we get our news in the SPN Meme, because when the episode dropped so fucking much happened

You know when you say a character and the first person that comes to your head...i think esp with obey me, there are so many media out there, that represents the 7 demons.
For example when you think of Lucifer? The first pops into my head would be a blond haired but obey me Lucifer.
Weird.. and also fun, this goes without saying, like when I picture Lilith obey me white eyes and white hair,
Like Michael everyone in the fandom agrees that Michael has long hair and blue eyes, but for me Adam from spn, or matt cohan with bluish eyes

I'm doing well, I hope things are good with you! And thank you! Honestly I just use the follower count as an excuse to do events lol.
You know, I'm so Obey Me obsessed that right now that's the first thing I think of whenever I hear any reference to any other versions of the characters. It's happened before where I'm scrolling through Tumblr and someone says something about Satan and I'm like I don't remember that... no wait. They mean like Satan from the real world lol. Oops.
However, before Obey Me was a thing I even knew about, I always had a tendency to imagine Lucifer with black hair when I was thinking of him having a human form. I often imagined him with goat horns and legs and bat wings and the whole thing lol. Kinda Krampus style but with more red. But the more human looking version of him always had black hair in my mind for some reason.
I loooove all the Lilith designs I've seen, but I am absolutely on board with white haired Lilith. I never really considered her eyes but white eyes would certainly be interesting too!
I think with Michael, my Obey Me version of him is different from how I would think of him outside of Obey Me. When I wrote the little story for the anon who requested Michael (here), I gave him long blond hair and blue eyes with some opal in them. But that's because all of the angels in the game have the blue eyes with a little bit of yellow in them, so it was just a variation on that. And I dunno blond hair made sense to me. But I've seen some excellent Michael fan designs that I love where he looks completely different! I do hope they give us a good design when he finally shows up!
But outside of Obey Me, I tend to think of Michael as more of a classic Biblical Jesus looking guy... brown hair, brown eyes, with a beard and glasses... for some reason?? I have no idea where that's coming from lol. I really don't know why my brain imagines him that way, but I must have picked it up from somewhere??
Maybe these are all just amalgams of all the versions of these characters that I've seen or read about in various medias over the years? It's certainly interesting to think about the first version of them that comes into your head!

On your season 8 comments, wdym about the cupid scene with the paired versus not paired couples?
So, firstly. I'm sorry my commentary turned into me skipping through season 8 and rambling like a wildman.
(It will happen again.)
What I meant when I talked about that scene, is that we see Dean's TV scene, it’s narratively solitary. Then, it's followed by the happy couple's TV scene showing them paired up. (I'll zoom in on it below.)
I'd seen the symbolism of Cupid discussed before, and even the arrows in Dean's trunk, but I hadn't seen the mated TV Dwight-Rod scene pointed out in comparison to Dean's "empty, incomplete" TV scene.
Soooo…. I thought it could be fun!
Dean drinks and looks surly. Then, he gets visually "shot" by Love. Cas enters.
DEAN SCENE: Aim. Fire. Boom. Straight at Dean, who looks to Cas as he enters the room. It's not that Dean was "hit" by Cupid and is being controlled by Heaven...it's symbolic of the situation. It's Dean's own free will.
He loves Cas. He clung to him in Purgatory and tried to tell him in the Crypt.
DEAN: "Anything? You've been gone long enough."
CAS: "No. Anything here?"
Cas tells Dean he might die. They stare at one another, regretful but choosing to hold onto their respective duties and familial obligations. (It's how they tick. They know this about each other. They like this about each other, just as much as it frustrates them.)
When Dean asks Cas if he's sure about leaving, Cas gives him a sad, watery little smile. Dean was hopeful, but now he's trying to accept their fate to be apart. "So this is it?" Dean says, then pivots to an E.T. joke in the midst of his emotional pain.

DWIGHT & ROD CUPID SCENE:
I tried to zoom in, but it's still hard -> On the TV scene, we get this on the screen, a red-shirted "Rod" image and the tan-shirted "Dwight" image.
This is what Dean's TV scene lacks, symbolizing that Dean feels alone--that he and Cas are not on the same page about their Big Feelings.

The Cupid enters. When Dwight asks where the usual deliveryman Ed is, she says, "Flu. I'm Gail." (Dean has been telling everything that Sam has the flu, btw, to explain away the Hell Trial symptoms. While Ed is away, Gail strikes. And while Sam is away..."Joy" strikes.)
Rod ("island of reeds, phallic symbol;" also, his hat has blue wings "American Natural Freight & Transport") and Dwight ("white, smile, laughter;" giver of beer and safe harbor) are both enamored by the weapon on TV.
The TV scene is in a forested area, not unlike the wooded nightmare of Purgatory, where Dean realized his commitment to Cas and extended his hand. He told Cas that he wanted him to "come home." Cas and Dean have the same issue with suicidality/worthlessness /duty, but narratively, they're trying to escape together. (That's a comrade theme in SPN; trying to heal over that looming feeling of suicidality.)
Below the TV is a small oval frame of a twin waterfall/bluff, meeting and overflowing. It's reminiscent of the cliff near where Cas let go of Dean's hand, in Purgatory.

Anyway, Rod and Dwight have a traditionally masculine interest in common here, like how Dean and Cas are both warriors, and they like that about each other. The screen shows the two men, walking side by side in camaraderie, and then it changes to a firing bow. The music emphasizes that, not only do they fall in love, but they like each other first. As friends. Weird quirks n' all.
[GAIL places a hand each man’s shoulders and smiles.] GAIL: I'll be seeing you both. [GAIL smiles and gathers her clip board and begins to leave.] Thanks for the help.
DWIGHT: No problem.
[GAIL leaves the bar and DEAN stares at the scene confused thinking GAIL was going to be the person DWIGHT was to have a match with. DWIGHT and ROD stare at the hunter on TV as he displays the use of his bow.]

CAS CUPID SCENE:
Castiel's cupid scene is darker. This is the bookend mate to Dean's scene, the bow is now aimed at Cas, who stands in close proximity to Dean, on the precipice of decision. An open palm is extended to Cas, representing love freely given...and forgiveness.
Dean forgave him for taking the souls, something that led to Bobby's death, and for breaking Sam's wall. Dean looked for him, then told him, "Hang on!" and clung to his hand in Purgatory. In the crypt, Dean said he loved needed him.
Now, Cas cuts off the bow, just like how he threw off Dean's hand in Purgatory. Cas rejects love. And Supernatural is about love...and love. Tremendous familial love and fidelity...and this. We see his blade come up in response to being symbolically "hit" by romantic love. It's ominous.
(Perhaps, he doesn't know how to respond? He's been a soldier for bajillions of years.)
The next scene shows his rejection, as Cas walks with the cut-off heart of the Nephilim in place of his kitchen stores, and Dean's hand is out of shot (he's on the phone).
But visually, Dean's hand is "cut off," just like Cupid's was. Season 8 is all about Cas rejecting love due to the heavy weight of shame and guilt. He may not recognize it, or he may not feel deserving. To deserve it, he has to do penance, and he has to "fix" things first. It's a fatal mistake.
Cas holds a bag containing bloody, innocent human-angel remains, and the cut-off hand of human love.

I hope I'm not being a downer or anything but I'm not all too surprised that Misha sounds less hopeful about a spn continuation. No doubt he loves playing Cas but also he's been fairly open about how stressful the show was for him and also when talking about Gotham Knights vs Supernatural he's always talked about how Gotham Knights was normal about and intentional when it came to having diversity compared to Supernatural which was very committed to staying white and cishet. The impression I've always gotten was he'd be open to doing more spn but also I think he has his reservations given how the on set environment and culture on the show wasn't a very positive one.
i mean i sort of agree and i think he'd have some. conditions? before he commits to it, but i also think he talked about it a lot with jensen.
all in all i'm still hopeful! they'd be fools not to try to make it work (and they know - and we all know jensen is jumping at the chance and j*red seems on board too)

I.... Dislike the later seasons so I've only seen them once or twice so. 😔 It's good to know Sam gets better about it, at least?
If you wouldn't mind, could you give some examples? Because genuinely the ONLY opinion of anything I can ever remember Sam having is in Folsom Prison Blues 😬
I’m about halfway through season 8 on my rewatch so I can’t speak to late seasons, but like my general impression of mid to late seasons sam re: politics is not so much concrete political views but cultural associations with politics. He’s a vegetarian/healthy eater, he exercises, there are some passing references to him being at least surface level feminist (iirc he got upset about the word bitch in s14, things like that), so culturally he appears much more liberal than Dean.
Sam and Dean sort of lose a lot of their side characteristics post-s5. during kripke era Dean openly distrusts cops, is cool with stealing from convenience stores (“small business owners”), sympathises with prisoners, etc., in contrast to Sam, who is much more on board with the mainstream political atmosphere of Bush-era white America. This slowly becomes reversed, with Dean maintaining the rugged macho guy stereotype but loses the less “savoury” opinions that a conservative audience would find distasteful under Obama, ie like disliking cops and stealing. Sam becomes the voice of reason on the show, a counter to Dean’s wild lack of inhibitions, and because Dean inherits the more reactionary politics of early spn Sam de facto becomes more liberal by standing in opposition to him.
I don’t think the show gets more progressive as time goes on, it just becomes less reactionary. The politics of season 1-5 are pretty coherent and solid, and stand out compared to the rest of the show, which is much more generically liberal and varies depending on who the showrunner happens to be. So Sam becomes the nice guy cop of the brother duo, is more concerned with people’s feelings, is associated with liberal college sjw stuff by way of his vegetarianism (although that has much more to do with his individual issues surrounding cleanliness/purity as opposed to environmental concern), and is the quote-unquote “girl” out of the two brothers - his masculinity is questioned frequently by Dean, which places him culturally, if not actually, into the liberal camp.

I'm starting to worry about TW ratings. 2nd episode lost 200,000 raw viewers vs the pilot, and demo from 0.12 to 0.10 (still provisional). I feel the spn fandom doesn't back this show as they should (I even still see too many hellers claiming they won't watch it because they "hate john")
it's prelims. prelims are unstable, that's why i tell everyone to hold their horses and not jump to prelim assumptions every week.
while yes, we absolutely need to back the show live and drag in friends to do the same, especially nielsen homes, prelims are so bad lately that comments on ratings boards are like
i need you to understand these are ratings professionals and hobbyists of decades, Patrick in particular has been part of SR since the 90s. He knows what's up, so if people don't listen to me, listen to him.
there can be violent adjustments in prelims, especially since they often don't include SD views, and atop that we don't even have a skew reporting yet to find out how much of that viewership loss, IF it sticks, actually fuckin matters or if it's old people out of demo turning off their TV. Look at AA's audience size and the demo it pulls.
We should expect decline, 15-25% in the first 3 episodes or so is standard. That's in demo, not audience. Audience isn't worth a shit. Literally, worthless. If only 20K of the people there are in demo we might lose 0.02 for example. And just be a flat 1. Even with audience depression.
skews aren't out yet, I've been foraging, but I"m also not stressed because, again, it's prelims. Everyone in fandom is gonna make hysterical noises and proclamations.
This also was a bit of a demo spread test. AA/AA:H wasn't impacted heavily by Verizon Fios because only one of the bajillion stations knocked out was a heavily black demo area (DC), while the white areas nexstar owns lost their own viewership from THEIR stations (ABC etc), so it all kind of averaged out.
Winchesters, however, isn't as strictly black of an audience. It's a more diversified distribution. So what this tells Nexstar is that DC and Buffalo are, in fact, pretty important viewing centers, if it takes a substantial hit. TW doesn't lean on a singular racial demographic but a broad one, so when it gets knocked out across miscellaneous geographical distributions, it's overall impacted more than say, what happened with AA.
But again, waiting for actual numbers and breakdowns worth a shit. Skew came in while I was typing and it's currently clocking at 27%, which is 10% higher than last time, but that's also due to them figuring out audience vs rounded demo vs others so that could adjust a bit down. Either way, odds are that 500K is worth a lot more than it looks like, but we have to see how the outtages impacted real distribution in finals.
we're probably looking around 0.08 if i were to spitball. lowest range 0.07. If we do better we withstood the verizon outtage better than i expected. though i gotta say walker is gonna want real bad for that outtage to be fixed before Thursday because their demographic will be even more violently effected.

Rewatching Time Is on My Side
Welcome to “He's not even staying caught up on his reading: A Supernatural Rewatch Blog” with Lor and Mace!
Up today, s3e15: Time is on My Side.
Dean's running out of time and Sam's getting desperate to save him, so Sam convinces his brother to head to Ohio to investigate cases of folks getting abducted and then waking up without certain organs. Secretly Sam suspects it's the reappearance of a zombie-like doctor their father hunted years ago, and he wants to learn the dude's secret to long life. Turns out it comes with a heavy price that Dean refuses to pay. Cue the gross-out organ harvesting scenes and fraught boys.

It seems the Nexstar acquisition of CW is near completion.
A summary: Nexstar takes a 75% stake, Paramount Global (which owns CBS, which co-owns CW) and Warner Bros Discovery (which recently acquired WB, which co-owns CW) with 12.5% each. Instead of paying cash, Nexstar would take on the network losses which are over $100 million per year.
Some ramblings:
Previous industry spec was Nexstar mostly be interested in CW’s digital assets—streaming. Now the reporting says Nexstar is interested in making CW a “fully sustainable broadcast network" which changes the spec a bit.
Reminder again, it's important NOW to support the kinds of shows you want to see more of, and going forward. While their streaming value still matters, the emphasis on a fleshed-out broadcast network means Nielsen ratings get more weight.
I'm just throwing around spec myself, but it seems unlikely Nexstar is therefore going to ditch scripted programming to become a 24/7 conservative news platform like I saw tossed around as an idea on twitter.
And I'd be careful about making hard assumptions on what kinds of scripted programming they want. Yes, they want to tilt older and the “homeland-heartland” spec from last year might be a factor and we know what that means. But to be a successful broadcast network, they need a variety of programming, appeal to different demos and different interests. If Nexstar accounting sees diverse shows as money-makers, they'll be assets. It comes down to money. If they think they can make a profit, they’ll still want those shows, not solely series that appeal to a middle aged straight white male demo.
Long term, I think WBD and Paramount want their shows on their own native platforms.
Short term, I don’t think that’s happening yet, but...it's a real thing.
SPN on HBO Max isn’t a fandom pipe dream, down the line this could actually happen.
Anyway, CW was never a full network. It has no studio of its own. It’s a delivery platform for WB and CBS, effectively a loss-leading tax shelter, and I don't think they cared about it much, or about the quality of the programming or marketing. The model wasn’t sustainable. It was never profitable.
CW had some great moments and great shows, there are some talented creative people and actors who have worked there, I'm not here to put down people's shows. But it often was a dumpster fire, across shows. Which is why a lot of us fans cold turkey boycotted it. Why there's been a lot of rage and backlash, from more than one fandom.
I ended my boycotting--which I stuck with for a year--because of the announced sale. It opened up the chance for a clean-up and needed changes.
No it isn't because of my faves. But I feel a lot better about the projects my faves are involved in because when I settled down to watch some shows I chose for targeted support, I found a lot of improvement. I’m not knocking the diversity that was there before, but the intersectionality, the depth of the usually under-represented pov's, is going farther. There used to be a lot more tokenization, more mishandling, or half-way good and bad.
There’s also a recent vibe of “no such thing as too much rep” which is refreshing to see. Shows that started out diverse keep adding more.
The shows I’m supporting: Kung Fu, All American (and I will be watching All American: Homecoming), Nancy Drew, Tom Swift (please, please check out Tom Swift, it’s a goddamn DELIGHT). I’ll be watching The Winchesters — which looks like a promising start to a far more expensive and inclusive SPN universe, as well as giving us some much needed Dean pov after the disastrous finale — and Gotham Knights — which intrigues me as a dc fan as a sort of elseworlds type scenario, and centers queer characters, women, women of color, PoC, along with having the treat of Misha Collins portraying Harvey Dent.
(There’s still some tokenization, on some shows, mixed with at least some attempts to do a little better, it’s not perfect across the board).
Other thing to note: The death of the Arrowverse wasn’t really because of the sale. I think that ‘verse winding down was inevitable, after many years and lbr--declining quality, and I'm saying this as a former big fan of the Arrowverse shows. That was also WBD and DC wanting an overhaul of the DCEU. Arrowverse had some great shows, but they were underperforming by DCTV standards. No, CW did not cut those series to get rid of the diversity, if you look at the new gen diverse CW series that line of thinking makes no sense. It was a cull based on lowest performers, and a DC show with a diverse cast—Gotham Knights—was added.
I'm here to support the shows and the people who make the shows, I don't stan for corporations. Some fans seem to think their brand loyalty should be to CW and they evangelized in a baffling way, but their brand loyalty was not to CW. It was to a particular show, or a set of shows, it's brand loyalty to franchises, and sometimes it's brand loyalty to a favorite actor. Don't get mixed up about this.
And if things go fully pear-shaped with Nexstar, I'm happy to support those shows on other platforms.
