"Where are we going?" Ashanii asks as she wraps her arms around Blue's neck, "Are we not staying on Alderaan?" "We are not. You know this." Blue reminds her, "Remember?" "Yeah, but I thought it was just something that Master Soka said and didn't mean. Like not eating ice cream for dinner and not jumping on the furniture." Blue pauses, "You shouldn't be doing either of those things. Does General Tano let you?" "Um...I don't remember." "Brat." Blue replies affectionately as he swiftly hooks his arm around her waist and flips her upside down, "You're a terrible liar." Ashanii just devolves into giggles. "Capt-" Ahsoka walks into the room, "Captain, why are you holding my padawan upside down?" "What do you mean? I always carry her like this." "...please don't drop her." Ahsoka finally says, "Anyway. Eddie’s fuck-you response is muffled, but judging by the kind of sneer the man gives him in response, he figures the sentiment got through.

Leia was left with Captain Rex, the faithful clone commander who’d been with them all along. Together they began to recruit.

There was resistance to Palpatine’s reprehensible policies all over the galaxy. But it was largely through terrorism as people were angry—and understandably so—with the evil he had wrought.

Thus, it was an ever escalating conflict of hatred and cruelty.

The Empire slaughtered thousands on Bothawai. In response, Rebel cells blew up a third of the shipyards at Kuat—-hundreds of thousands of Imperial crews died.

It was reported that captured Rebels were interrogated and either executed or sent to the slave mines all over the galaxy.

So Imperial officers were hunted like prey. When captured, they were tortured and died in agony—their bodies often left as a warning.

Leia knew that she couldn’t be the only Rebel leader who saw this and hated it. If they were to change things—if they were to win—-they must be different from Palpatine and his minions.

The Resistance needed a leader to rally around. But it could not be some warlord or vengeful former monarch. She could not bear the thought of overthrowing Palpatine merely to put another much like him in his place.

So she and Rex came up with a plan.

Whumpril Day 23

Smoke/Bloodstains

Spoiler: This is an excerpt from It All Falls Down

The smoke in here is thick, as he makes his way into one of the collapsing hallways, careful not to disturb anything. Hopefully, the debris have settled enough that it won’t start collapsing if he moves wrong. Although from the looks of it, he thinks whoever wasn’t crushed or later shot by the clones was probably killed in the fires that burned through here, when it was being blown up.

It’s bad, and he can’t imagine how he would feel if… if he saw something like this happen to Kamino, his home.

He has to be careful to avoid the clones, though as he goes deeper within, it’s becoming harder and harder to breathe from the lingering smoke. At least his helmet filters out most of it.

And it’s then he suddenly hears something. There’s… someone moving close by, in the dark still-partly standing hallway he just entered. There’s other bodies on the floor, covered in blood, but he doesn’t look at them, flicking on the light on his helmet to scan his surroundings.

If he saw his general, he’d know on the spot. He can… feel him, sometimes, when Anakin uses the Force. The air is always hotter around him, in a certain way he doesn’t fully understand. He feels none of that now. (Would it still feel like that if he was gone?)

A lightsaber activates, suddenly, and Rex narrowly dodges the blue blade swinging for his head.

It’s not a Jedi he recognizes – the man has tan skin, and dark hair that’s turning grey; he’s obviously quite old. There’s bloodstains on his clothes too. He was probably injured already.

Whumptober Day 21 & 23 / Prompt: See the chains around my feet & Panic

Leia is in the mess hall with Ola, Z’khari and Jeff when the video hits the holo-net.

Bonding with the other rebels took slightly longer than expected. Leia would claim that this is because there are no jokes to make about awful cafeteria food on this particular base, where the food is actually fairly decent, which robbed them of the primary form of bonding across all military bases in the galaxy.

The others would claim that her name and former status had far more to do with it. You don’t just immediately trust a former Imperial, no matter how young they are. And even though they might be on good terms now, Leia isn’t naïve enough to believe that they trust her much more now. Still, it is nice to be surrounded by people who don’t want to stab you in the back the first chance they get.

“Oh no,” Jeff says, looking down at the small data-pad in his hands. A HoloNet news channel is playing on it.

Without another word, he pushes the pad towards Ola, Z’khari and Leia, turning on the sound at the same time.

It’s a broadcast, depicting the Emperor and Vader behind him. Leia still remembers the few times they had to produce one of those, how she hated participating in Palpatine’s propaganda. It’s the first time since Luke escaped that she has seen her father.

She tries to look for any hints on his well-being, though she can’t find any. The black armor and mask are just as menacing and impersonal as always.

Absentmindly, she notices that the footage is also playing on the holo-caster on the wall of the mess hall, though muted.

But the way he is standing behind Sidious, and Leia might be reading to much into things, but she imagines that she sees him shake slightly, like she has observed so often growing up. After every torture session, after every harsh punishment, he would stand up, not utter a word but the only thing he couldn’t stop was the shaking.

To her surprise, instead of staying the menacing background decoration he ususlly is in public, Vader steps forward and starts speaking.

Leia wishes he hadn’t. She’s always hated how the helmet twisted his voice, but this time, there is something even more wrong with it, as if each word is a torturous challenge. He talks about loyalty and strength and the enemies of the Empire, and Leia knows where this is going. Two high ranking Imperials defecting does not reflect well on the Empire, and she was already wondering when Palpatine would feel the need to do something about it. Apparently, the time has come now.

Vader starts spouting the usual nonsense, about the glory of the Empire, the mighty power of their military, the duty of every citizen to support the Empire and so on. Then he pauses slightly. If he wasn’t wearing his mask, Leia imagines, his breath would have hitched.

“It is with great regret that I now announce the rebels formerly known as Luke and Leia Vader public enemies of the Empire, and declare any bond between them and me severed,” he says, in a toneless voice. “From hereforth, they shall be treated the same as any other dangerous rebel. They have forfeit all rights to their name and former titles.” He goes on speaking but Leia can’t hear what he is saying over the ringing in her ears. She only manages to catch the last thing he says, because he has switched to huttese, and she immediately knows that it wasn’t planned by the way he hesitates, by the way Palpatine tenses up. He is speaking only to them. “May you be rejected from the name Vader and cast again to the lowly name of your birth, of those who traverse the skies.” It’s not open subordination but it comes very close. Leia can feel panic rise up in her chest.

Her father has just declared Luke and Leia traitors, and disavowed them of the name Vader. A gift. A curse.

For a moment, Leia stares at the screen, uncomprehending. Her father has stepped back behind Palpatine. She thinks, he isn’t safe. She has spent the past months pushing the thoughts away but it has haunted her ever since Luke escaped. She hasn’t felt her father’s presence in her mind for over a year. What he just did was a declaration of agency, even if not understood by most. This was foolish and lovely and oh, how she misses him. But Palpatine will suspect something, even if he can’t know.

She wonders how many people have seen this already. Her three comrades are staring at her. Actually, it feels like everyone is staring at her.

Although the broadcast is over, her head can’t stop replaying the images. Her father in the spotlight, big and dark and puppet-like. Sidious behind him. Her breath is speeding up. She knows that she is panicking. She knows that it’s an irrational useless response. She still can’t stop.

“It’s alright,” Ola says. “He can’t hurt you here.”

Jeff and Z’khari nod their heads, and look concerned and Leia feels like she is going to be sick. She frantically shakes her head, and the panic combines with joy and heartache because their father has ripped Vader away from them, he declared them free, right in front of Palpatine, and her comrades can’t see it.

“I’m sorry,” Z’khari says, and again she shakes her head. There might be tears streaming down her face. The others don’t know what to do.

Then she thinks of her father now, alone, after the subordination, and the panic comes rushing back in. She doesn’t want to draw any attention to herself but they are all looking at her anyway, so what does it matter?

“He’s going to be so angry,” she gasps. Ola puts a comforting arm around her. Leia supresses the urge to shake her off. “He will be so angry,” she repeats.

“But he can’t harm you here,” Jeff chimes in from the side. She doesn’t realize that he was talking about Vader until she’s already started speaking again and can’t seem to stop herself.

“That doesn’t matter. He’ll hurt Papa for this, and this time Luke and me won’t be there to redirect his anger or to take some of the punishment or, or to do something!” She tries to keep her voice down but it’s all too much and she needs them to understand. “Palpatine has hurt him for so much less, and he isn’t getting any younger and what if he has finally outlived his usefulness?”

Three pairs of eyes stare at her. “Leia, I’m sorry but what are you talking about?” Ola asks.

“Didn’t you see?” she just asks.

“Your father has just declared that he is willing to kill you and publically disowned you and your brother,” Jeff states bluntly.

Leia stares at him.

“What,” she finally says. “No? I mean technically—”

“Technically?!” Jeff echoes. “With all due respect but Vader was very clear about that.”

Ola has become very silent, is watching Leia with furrowed brow.

“Explain it to us,” she says.

“We no longer must carry the name Vader,” Leia states, slowly. She doesn’t know what there is to explain about this.

“And he spoke in Huttese.”

“So?” Jeff asks.

Leia wants to growl in frustration. She doesn’t want to waste time explaining the obvious when all she wants is to rush back to her Father and help him kill Palpatine.

She breathes in deeply. She wishes desperately that Luke was by her side.

“We are completely free now, even in name. But my father isn’t yet, which means he is in danger,” she explains.

“From… the emperor?” Ola asks.

“Obviously?” Leia responds.

“But… he is like this frail, old man… And Vader is a two-meter tall killing machine. No offense,” Jeff says.

Leia can’t help herself, she starts chuckling. Maxbe it is the panic and andrenaline still rushing through her.

“Forget it,” she says. “You won’t believe me anyway.”

But Ola looks at her earnestly and says: “Try us.”

Sterek Week '23 // Day 3, Worlds Collide / @sterekweek-2023

Rebel vs Empire / Star Wars AU Stiles Stilinski, a former Republic officer turned rebel, is secretly acting as a double agent for the Empire after the Imperial Security Bureau took his father hostage and forced him to turn on his rebel cell. His ISB handler is an agent who has close connections to Derek Hale, an Imperial senator who sits on the Intelligence Oversight Committee. Derek, who has become disillusioned with the Empire and is doing all he can to protect his planet from being crushed under the authoritarian heel of Imperial oppression, intercepts Stiles' message from his handler first, then decides what to send to the ISB that is the least damaging and won't blow either of their covers. In turn, he uses his position as a senator to feed bits of classified Imperial information via the handler to Stiles who passes it on to his rebel cell. When the ISB handler mysteriously disappears and the pair arrange to meet for the first time, things begin spiralling out of control very quickly. Their twisted symbiotic relationship is a dangerous dance during a time when Emperor Palpatine's hands are closing tighter and tighter around the throats of those who remain loyal to the idea of the old Republic. Gradually, as their worlds begin to collide, Stiles and Derek start to recognise that there's no one else left for them to trust but each other.

i kinda have a basic idea Brocedes lore, like the timeline and everything. but were there moments post Monaco 2014 till the end of 2016 where Lewis and Nico had some nice and genuinely fun moments or were they all awkward and distant with each other?

the answer to this is complicated. well, my header gif happened months after monaco 14, in Abu Dhabi 14. so this is nico congratulating lewis for winning his 2nd championship (1st with merc) and its way after lewis said "we're not friends." so like all things brocede they're.. Like That (whyre u holding a man you're not friends with by the nape of his neck 😳😳😳🤨)

Ladies and gentlemen, a short look into the not so distant past...

obviously every year as the silver war progressed, tensions arose but that didn't mean they couldn't stand to look at each other. those 3 years of early merc domination era HAM-ROS were on every podium, and they were pretty happy spraying champagne on each other as I've documented here, and here

✨ May I interest you in some Dedede and Meta Knight as childhood friends? ✨

(ID: Kirby series fanart, Childhood Friends AU, of King Dedede and Meta Knight as kids interacting in various cute and wholesome scenarios, such as coloring, cloud-watching, sparring with sticks, overindulging on sweets, protecting each other from bullies, and more. Design-wise, young Dedede is short and chubby with a smaller beak and three feathers sticking up from the top of his head. He wears a pair of red overalls with gold buttons on the straps and a pocket on the front with a white two-finger peace sign. Young Meta Knight is maskless and similar in appearance to Kirby, save for his yellow eyes, dark blue complexion, and a pair of tiny wings on his back. -This AU primarily takes place within the Kirby gameverse (with a few superficial elements borrowed from external media), the timeline starting decades before the events of KDL and eventually catching up to and following the main games’ canon (with nods to side games and some unique events added here and there for character flavor). I am trying to stay canon-compliant, but I’m also kinda making things up as I go and changing them as needed, so no promises I won’t just go completely off the rails the more I workshop things, haha.

-I'm mostly going to leave ages nebulous in this AU, but - for clarity's sake - we'll say Dedede and Meta are both the equivalent of 7-to-11 years old here, though they first met a little earlier...

-Meta Knight is just called Meta for now - he won’t earn his title until after he starts his overstars military training with the Galaxy Soldier Army (GSA) in his late teens.

-That hammer belongs to Dedede’s mama - a former pro-wrestler - and will someday be passed down to him (once he’s strong enough to actually pick it up).

-The Star Warriors/GSA inclusion in this AU is more for flavor than any major role. In this version, they are basically an intergalactic military group fighting various forces of evil and providing relief-aid across the universe, their reputation generally positive thanks to a genuine effort on their part to balance acts of war and defense with acts of philanthropy, community assistance, and compassion, well-known enough to reach even distant Popstar. Any known Star Warriors - Sir Arthur, Sir Dragato, Kit Cosmos, etc. - are either long since passed on or retired somewhere outside of the story. Upon learning of the GSA, Meta becomes enamored with their deeds and longs to be a knight himself (not yet aware of the hardships involved in becoming one).

-The kids like to spar for fun in their free time, but on occasion they get proper training from Dedede’s papa - a retired knight with connections to the GSA who’d settled in Dream Land with his wife just before they had their only son. Meta looks up to him with the same admiration he has for the Star Warriors. Dedede, however, doesn’t always see eye-to-eye with his well-meaning but rather strict father.

-Meta is quite shy around people he doesn’t know well. In overwhelming situations, he tends to either shut down and go non-verbal or quietly slip away to recoup. That said, he is much more expressive around those he trusts, listening eagerly and chatting far more than he would otherwise.

-Dedede has an impulsive streak and likes to make wild plans that tend to put him and his buddies in precarious situations (when he can be bothered to actually follow through with them, that is). Meta is often the first to point out the flaws in his plans (if Para Dee doesn’t do it first) but inevitably ends up tagging along anyway, his wariness easily overturned by his curiosity.

-Meta is sometimes bullied by the bigger kids in the village due to his strange appearance and timid nature. Dedede is quick to step in and defend him, usually getting into scraps in the process. It will be a little while before either of them gain the respect of their peers…
