Queen // Stone Cold Crazy
Walking down the street, shooting people that I meet
With my rubber tommy water gun
Here come the deputy
He's gonna come and getta me
I gotta get me get up and run
They got the sirens loose
I ran right outta juice
They're going to put me in a cell
If I can't go to heaven
Will they let me go to hell?

Queen a Day
Day 28: Stone Cold Crazy from Sheer Heart Attack
This song has been called “thrash metal before the term was invented” (by Q magazine). If you have friends who don’t know many Queen songs, and you let them listen to this one, they’ll be floored! It’s fast-paced, almost frenetic, and hard core. I happen to love it.
For your information, I listen to the Live at the Rainbow 1974 version of this song most of all, because who in their right mind can resist Freddie wailing and spitting lyrics in that tight-black outfit, flicking his glorious hair around and bending and twisting all over the stage? But for this review, I’ll be talking about the studio album version.
The album version of this song starts heavy. It's guitar moaning and wailing, and scratching. It's frantic drumbeats.
Then, Freddie comes on, with this sort of hard, gritty voice that really does not sound like his usual tone. He's fast. It's almost like he's rapping those lyrics.
"Crazy...stone cold crazy you know!"
BRIAN must be going absolutely ape-shit on the guitar on this. Really, I wonder what he was thinking. Besides just loving doing something so completely different than their usual prog-rock.
Freddie's voice is so unique and let me tell you, I wish I was a fly on the wall during this recording while he tried to sing all those lyrics, at such breakneck speed. SEXY as hell, seriously.
Imagine, the same man sang "Good Old Fashioned Loverboy" and "Killer Queen" also sang this piece of metal.
Get you a guy who can do both.

Okay so season 8 may be complete and utter trash but I do like Jackie and Fez living together in an apartment! Their whole storyline is very 1970's sitcom. It's classic! 😁

Kiss the Queen
I rarely read anything about Kiss and Queen (1). In the same breath as people like to do with Led Zeppelin or Deep Purple, or for that matter Aerosmith, I mean.
I'm not sure if this could be due to a certain unpopularity of the song Boomerang. But if you use that as a comparison, Read My Body, for example, would have to be quite popular among the fan community, because Kiss and Def Leppard are always mentioned in the Kiss community at regular intervals. This even makes me think that there must be some latent Read My Body fans among the hardcore fans.
So why isn't anyone interested in Boomerang? Because this song, or let's say if you leave out its somewhat uninspired vocals and vocal chorus, would actually be extremely good and a real banger (2). True, not a classic, but what the heck?
I think I remember Bruce once describing it as something like AC/DC on speed, and I admit I quite like that comparison because I think you should always have a good, strong, big cup of coffee, before you even think about listening to it. This has a huge impact on appreciation, believe me (3).
*takes a sip from his cup and smiles contentedly.
Anyway, Kiss and Queen. Boomerang and Stone Cold Crazy. Coffee and more coffee. Need I say more? It's not that Gene grabbed their whole riff, but half of it is enough, and in this case he might as well have painted two big Qs out of coffee grounds around his eyes. Or maybe I'm wrong, because I can't say for sure if it was Gene at all, and maybe this time it was Bruce, the old scoundrel (4), and I'm doing poor old Gene a bitter injustice. This one time. Who can say for sure?
*finishes the coffee in one go.
Side Notes:
(1) Apart from what I write about this matter now and then myself.
(2) I guess because unfortunately these unfortunate vocals also keep coming back like a boomerang. Perhaps an instrumental version of this song should be released to give it a little boost in popularity.
(3) And I'm not even a big coffee drinker. Not anymore. One cup a fortnight is enough for me. It just has to be a good one.
(4) Speaking of Bruce, attention, attention Bruce fans. Here is a small four-parter containing a few lines about Kiss live during the Bruce Era and what I love about it: Part 1, Part 2, Part 3 & Part 4. I could well imagine that a few more of these could follow in the future.
Boomerang (1989)
Stone Cold Crazy (1974)

If Hulk Hogan's mega success was known as Hulkamania, and Stone Cold Steve Austin was the most famous wrestler since Hulk Hogan, then is Stone Cold's mega success "Stone Cold Crazy"?

"I think this is the most inhuman; and human, that I've ever felt.."
MUCH CAN HAPPEN IN A YEAR. IN FIVE YEARS. A DECADE. imagine how much can happen in a century. just ONE (1). How will you grow? what phases do you find? even in 5 years, you will find patterns.

I love Steph's origin as told in the Secret Origins 80 page giant- I just overall think it strengthens her character by giving her a lot of pathos and adding to her heroism (which isn't something writers were focused on in her actual intro in detective comics #647 since she was just meant to act as a plot device back then) BUT there is one tiny detail in it i will begrudge, and that is the portrayal of her having a minor love at first sight moment for tim
Secret origins 80 page giant, ID in alt
(or well, technically this was their second meeting in that story (the brick was the first) so...love at second sight?)
Mostly because Stephanie showed no interest in her introduction and only showed romantic feelings towards Tim AFTER this moment here:
Robin (1993) #4, ID in alt
Straight up the progression here goes:
The adventure in 'tec where they first meet -> Tim investigating the same crime scene as Steph -> she beats him up not knowing it's him at first, apologizes but says he shouldn't have scared her -> he remembers her/the moniker she goes by -> they talk about plot for a few pages -> Stephanie starts flirting
Robin (1993) #4, ID in alt
Which...is so fascinating to me and says so much about Stephanie. She highlights the fact that Tim "remembered" her. Like. Steph. Girl. This is our bar? It's sweet but kind of speaks to how much Stephanie is ignored at home/how little and sporadically she's shown interacting with her peers (and rarely ever the same kids twice). Her idea of peak romance is just...being on someone's mind even when you're not there.
Kind of also adds layers to Steph's proclivity towards jealousy later on, a manifestation of her insecurity and loneliness (though don't get it twisted, she's not written this way bc Dixon and co think it's an interesting character flaw, they wrote it bc they think it's an inherent character flaw of (particularly young) women/girls, which is very apparent in how he approaches Ariana's character as well from what I've read)
Also the fact that Steph becomes so smitten for Tim almost immediately after this is (a few issues later she aggressively flirts with him during AN ACTIVE HOSTAGE SITUATION. WHERE SHE'S THE HOSTAGE) again is kind of a mixture of kind of funny and sad. One boy is nice to her once and she's fully ready to wife him. Girl you are deranged (affectionate) (concerned)

11. three favourite songs from movie or TV series soundtrack. All going to be from animes. I’m just giving you fair warning 🤣
And a bonus piece just for the sake of it!
This is such a hard one from me because I love film scores and soundtracks. I shall go with non-score/instrumental this time.
