I really want to draw something meaty and put some characters into The Situations but I am dealing with a double whammy of art block and some REALLY insane migraine/Sinus issues the past 3 or 4 days.

So all I managed was a quick Solana. I wanted to give her a cool leg prosthetic but then I didn't really draw her legs sdjfdsjkfsdhf So that's the level of cognitive function I am dealing with at the moment

Bad news: new mouse in the apartment. Again.

Worse news: we found this out because it was nuzzling @thetabirb 's hand as she slept

Worser news: after i had my initial freak out that made my heart melt and I feel bad that it has to die

Even worser news: I caught a glimpse of it as it scampered out of the bedroom to the kitchen and it had giant years and a short tail and now I feel really really bad about the fact that it has to die

Worst news: I can't capture it and adopt it

Good news: theta checked herself all over and no sign of biting or scratching (I was tucked under the weighted blanket so it couldn't get to me)

#really worried it's an escaped pet because what kind of wild mouse muzzles a human's hand? #i suppose it could have toxoplasmosis but i thought that just made it friendly to cats not people #it doesn't look like a fancy mouse aside from the big ol ears. it looks like a standard brown/gray house mouse #I'm not afraid of rodents for the record I'm afraid of the diseases wild rodents can carry #or the diseases any animal can carry #i have a healthy respect for wild/feral/stray animals and know to be cautious around them even if they are friend shaped #but on top of potential diseases my food budget is limited so i have to make sure a mouse doesn't spoil my meager larder #poor big eared mousie but you must die

Guess what!!

We were looking around the burned house, and we found several burned photo albums that were blasted out of the second floor with the hoses, in the backyard. The albums themselves were burned but the VAST majority of the photos inside were either salvageable or undamaged. Neighbor who owns the house isn’t around, she’s staying with her mom, so we took them with us because it was about to storm. Then we spent HOURS (4pm-10:30) on the porch delicately freeing them from the singed plastic, cleaning and drying them off, and laying them out on parchment paper. We’re talkin about HUNDREDS of photos.

Tomorrow we’re gonna go to the thrift store to get new albums to put them in for her 🥰

How lucky though, right?? That the albums not only survived but made it outside where they could be found. No one can go inside bc the house is so waterlogged that the ceilings caved in and the house is leaning sideways, now, too. Many of the photos are in literal perfect condition. The ones that weren’t were just singed along one edge.

#I texted to get her permission to sort through them before we did #we are pretty sure her other cat died in the fire; she thinks she was in the attic #the cat that survived was burned on the face but it’s in the shape of devil horns and she was born on Halloween #neighb thought that was cool #that was exhausting though holy shit #there were 200+ photos from Disney alone
