Holy shit, you are now my new favorite person-

A lot of my special interests right now mainly center around Will Wood, ROTTMNT, and human behavior as a whole.

With Will Wood's music, whether he intends it to be or not, is just so profound and well made and really makes me happy. The symbolism, the seemingly needless, lengthy words, and the themes he explores overall are just ground-breaking to me and I could analyze his stuff for days on end with a burning passion. And the way his music (both old and new) sounds?? LIKE WHAT??

I swear, no two songs of his sound the same, and I mean it in the best way possible. The pacing, the instrumental choice, really everything just feels uniquely respective to its own song and I am drooling over it.

Will Wood is easily one of the best musicians I have ever had the pleasure of discovering. When I found his stuff, I hadn't had a musical hyperfixation in actual years, but boy did listening to the normal album change that.

Like I said, the lyrics, the sounds of the music, and (what I believe is) the continued theme of normalcy while each song still tells its own theme/story?? It's just perfection to me, really-

As for ROTTMNT? Don't even get me started!

The animation is lively, colorful, and has a delightful, anime-ish style to it that just makes the whole show eye candy to me. The boxy(?) movement in certain scenes, the shading (especially in the movie), and the character designs?? Omg the character designs-

I love how Rise broke what I feel was the "copy-and-paste" style of design for the turtles, unlike the previous series (I'm not saying other TMNT shows were bad, but good lord the designs (looking at you, 2012) were...awful-). Each design feels respective to its own character and the diversity in appearance really helps the turtle's personalities, fighting style, and expression shine through.

And the turtles themselves? I simply just adore what the show did with their personalities and how they gave them more depth and really humanized them. Especially with Raph and Donnie. Especially Raph and Donnie.

Raph always came off as just "the angry one," and there was seemingly no reason for why and there was nothing else to him, when I tried getting into older series, and at times, it made me dislike him as a character. But in Rise? They made him into a gentle giant with different likes, dislikes, interests, strength, weaknesses, and gave him reason to be angry in certain scenarios, rather than feeding us the usual "pissed off all the time" Raph. In Rise, he just comes off as a reasonably tired, realistic older brother that cares about his family and just wants the best for everyone, even if there are times he comes off in the wrong way.

And I could go off about Donnie for days

But to keep it as short as I can; Donnie is to die for in Rise. He is more than just the "tech guy." He is shown to indulge in different interests and hobbies, he has vulnerable moments, he's sarcastically witty and deadpan, just everything I could want in a character like him.

And the way they handled autistic representation with Donnie?

*chef's kiss* 11/10 👌

He comes off a realistic, neurodivergent person that isn't weakened by his condition, and is instead just accepted as he is and plays a vital role to the brother's chemistry, unlike in most shows where the autistic character feels like an inconvenience, a man-child, an un-empathetic asshole, and/or too indulged in their hyperfixation to be useful, or that's all there is to them as a person.

Rise just got so many things right and I adore the show for it!

And lastly; with human behavior? It's certainly not as strong as the last two fixations, but I still find it rather interesting.

Everything we have been taught since birth feels black and white, especially with people's intentions and emotions. But, I don't think that's the case at all (in 95% of cases). People each have their own thoughts, feelings, and reasonings for why they do x, y, z, and I may not know everything about it, but Jesus Christ, it intrigues me so much.

One detail i love so much about the movie's writing and treatment of symbolism, is that when Andrey kills Goncharov it's actually 6 o'clock. Which is the time the clock has been perpetually stuck at throughout the entire film. And then when Andrey walks away with Goncharov's blood in his hands, in the final scene, we see the clock start to move for the first and last time before it just cuts to black. *Chef's kiss*

Just a fucking masterpiece!!!

I re-read and (re)watched Red White and Royal Blue so let's talk about it

Grab your popcorn guys, gals, and non-binary pals I'm writing this on my laptop instead of my phone so you know it's gonna be a long one

To preface, Red White and Royal Blue is one of my favorite books of all time and it brought me so much joy to re-read it in preparation for the movie. Casey McQuiston's writing will never not make me laugh out loud. But it's because I love this book so much that I was suuuper apprehensive about the announcement of a movie adaptation. That being said I think the movie lived up to the expectations I had for it. I think I would’ve enjoyed the movie more had I not just read the book

TLDR: I thought that the movie felt like the bare bones of the book and lacked the emotional depth that the book had. 2/5 stars as a book to movie adaptation. 3/5 stars just looking at it as a movie and not an adaptation

Things I Liked About the Movie

ZAHRA! I loved her character in the movie so much. In terms of side characters she was definitely the one that felt most faithful to the source material to me. And I think every time she was in a scene she made it 100x better. She was definitely a scene stealer for me

The banter between Alex and Henry. ESPECIALLY in the montage of texts they send each other in the beginning of the movie, which was taken basically word for word from the book. I think it was important for the movie to get this right because their banter is basically the foundation of Alex and Henry's relationship.

I also really liked how they shot the text conversations and the turkey phone call

The confrontation at Kensington Palace. By far the best scene acting wise for both Taylor Zakhar Perez and Nicholas Galiztine

When they were both at the piano and Alex started playing "My Country tis of Thee" and the Henry joined in for the final cadence cause the melody is the same as "God Save the Queen" that musical symbolism was just *chefs kiss*

That one reporter who questioned Miguel about Alex's right to privacy

Alex reading One Last Stop when they’re on the hammock in Texas. Great little easter egg for fans of the book and Casey McQuiston

The New Year’s Eve party where it’s just them standing up while the crown dances

The interview montage. That was hilarious

Things I Didn't Like About the Movie

The pacing felt off. Everything felt rushed to me. We got 3 sex scenes over the course of 10 minutes; that is so unnecessary. I don't think enough time was spent establishing our characters and their relationships to one another. In fact their entire romance felt rushed to me. especially in the first half of the movie. I don't think it was necessary to have their first hookup at the white house and then the scene immediately afterwards being their hookup at the polo match (as much as we all love that scene in the book). Without the added context of what Alex had to cancel on and talk with Zahra about to get to the polo match I felt that Alex's need to be with Henry again and that longing was lost. In the same vein I don't think the turkey scene had the same amount of weight in the book. It was played as thought they had spoken on the phone before which they hadn't, so that was a big step in their friendship and relationship, but I think that emotional impact was glossed over. And in general the emotional depth to Alex and henry's relationship felt lacking to me. I think more time should've been spent showing us their emotional intimacy rather than their physical intimacy cause Alex's almost "I love you" in Texas didn't feel earned

The characterization of a lot of the characters. Because I had literally just finished reading the book the day before I watched the movie everything is still extremely fresh in my mind and because of that a lot of the characters felt very one note to me. Like Bea is 1/8th of the character that she was in the book. They took away her spunk and made her into this very typical prim and proper princess of England. What happened to the girl who "accidentally" pours hot tea into her brother's lap to make him shut up? And my girl Nora... if I hadn't known from reading the book that her and Alex were best friends and had a previous romantic relationship I would've never known that was the nature of their relationship in the movie. The way she's painted in the movie is that she just works on the Claremont campaign team and just happens to be the granddaughter of the vice president. And yeah her and Alex are friends, but best friends? I just wasn't getting that vibe from them in the movie. And it also made me mad that on New Year’s Alex just kissed two random girls at the party instead of Nora which was their tradition. Also was it ever mentioned in the movie that Nora was bi? I think they conveniently skipped over that part in the scene when her and Alex are talking about Henry. If Nora's only purpose of being in the movie was to provide a little insight to Alex's very minor sexuality crisis and some emotional support I don't understand why that couldn't have been June instead. Last thing I'll say about characterization is that I wish they had balanced President Claremont with mom Ellen better. She had some good mom moments, but I really wish we had gotten the scene from the book (or a scene similar to it) where after the emails leak Ellen clears the conference room to just talk with Alex and check in with him and how he's feeling as a mom and not as president of the US. Which leads me to my next point

The lack of the white house trio and the super six. Not gonna rehash my thoughts on Nora, but I think it's insane that June was just completely eliminated from the movie narrative. Like she was one of Alex's main support systems in the book and like the whole magazine poster thing in the book was cause of her too. June knew Alex sometimes better than he knew himself and I think it was a shame that he didn't have someone like that to lean on in the movie. (Also the lack of gay subplot between her, Nora, and Pez. What a shame). Speaking of Pez, it really bothered me that they only called him Percy in the movie. Yeah that's technically his name, but it's like only people who don't know him call him that. If you know him like Henry and Alex are supposed, to you call him Pez. I missed the found family aspect of the story that came with the "super six" and I think both Henry and Alex could've used that support from the group of friends in the movie. It felt very much them against the world in the movie when they really had so many people supporting them (bringing it back to my need for more mom Elle scenes, like her "I'll back your play" line in the book).

Miguel. Ugh. This guy. The movie needed an antagonist so they decided to create an entire new character instead of making some nuanced commentary about how dirty (unfortunately) American politics can be with the inclusion of Rafael Luna. And I think the thing that pisses me off the most about Miguel is that they didn't even link him back to Jeffry Richard's campaign. And with that omission it just seems like Miguel leaked the emails to get back at Alex for not wanting to sleep with him again or as a guy who just wanted to break his first big story to be seen as a serious journalist. And I also think it reduces the severity of the crime Miguel committed by not linking it back to the Richard's campaign, which would be conspiracy against a sitting president and lead to a federal investigation (took that straight from the book lol) (maybe they felt it was hitting a little too close to home). And the fact that whoever leaked the emails faces. no repercussions in the movie or even any mention of potential consequences is criminal (no pun intended). Again I feel like it reduces the severity of the crime. AND HOW FUCKING DARE THEY GIVE MIGUEL THE "FUCKING EYE LASHES" LINE

The fact that Alex calls Henry baby in the movie exactly once and never calls him sweetheart CRIMINAL

Some of the dialogue felt very clunky to me "... and I'll bother you no longer." What was wrong with saying "and I won't bother you anymore"?

Lastly (though I'll probably have more to say after another watch), the quality of the production of the movie was lacking at some parts. I hated how obvious it was to me when one scene was shot at an irl location versus a scene shot using green screen or a fake background. And the lighting specifically didn't help with some of those scenes. Everything just seemed a bit too bright some times

Ha ha ha I actually thought of more but these are more minor complaints that these things were omitted from the movie. The fact that they referenced but didn’t do the whole PowerPoint scene. I really wanted to see Uma Thurman do that scene lol. The fact that “Your Song” by Elton John wasn’t included at all. THE FACT THAT ALEX DIDNT CALL HENRY AN OBTUSE FUCKING ASSHOLE. No mentions of Star Wars. WHY DID THE CUT THE CORNETTOS SCENE

Oh another minor thing (but I think it's kinda big). The house in Texas is supposed to be Spanish style not the modern looking thing we got in the movie. The symbolism of that house representing a core part of Alex was just poof gone

humor me for a bit, y'all, while I ramble randomly, and of course feel free to add onto this, etc., but like.

name me any other media that did the 'I give you my heart, will you keep it safe?' trope better than Pirates of the fucking Caribbean did it.

you've got Will and Elizabeth established as childhood friends turned lovers in Curse of the Black Pearl. which like, yes. good way to start it off, of course. excellent way to start it off.

and then you have the complexity of their romance surviving the course of the second movie, Dead Man's Chest. then you've got Elizabeth's arc and Will's arc, both set apart from each other's. which, also excellent, you've got the two of them fleshed out individually outside of their romance.

and then. oh my god and then.

you have that one scene in At World's End. Will's proposal in the midst of combat. the "I made my choice. what's yours?" the Kiss™️, them sealing their marriage while quite literally surrounded by the enemy.

then afterwards, you have Will not only becoming captain of The Flying Dutchman, but giving his heart to Elizabeth in its chest, for her to hold onto for safekeeping. his literal, physical, beating heart. my god. the sheer amount of trust and love, the metaphor, in that gesture in and of itself. it's the kind of thing that goes over your head when you're a kid, but when you're an adult and you realize it upon rewatching these movies makes you go

like. just imagine that. imagine not only figuratively giving your heart to the person you love, but literally so to the point they could hold it in their hands if they wanted to.

it's symbolic and iconic on so many levels. and that alone, my friends, is just... chefs kiss. mwah. delicious. beautiful. I'm going to go fucking feral. Will Turner and Elizabeth Swann, truly one of the canon couples of all time. your otp could never.

also a quick sidenote but I'd like to also make the observation that bisexual culture is having had a crush on them BOTH as a kid. don't @ me you know I'm right.

Elena Wallace: An Appreciation Post

**Transformers: ROTB spoilers ahead**

Okay! Let's talk about how ABSOLUTELY AMAZING Elena Wallace is in this movie! I've talked about Noah & Mirage quite a bit, but I absolutely CANNOT forget about our queen Elena! I barely see any posts for her and it's CRIMINAL!!!!!!!! Let me go fix that real quick!

There is no order. This is just a spontaneous list of all the reasons why I love Elena. 😊

I like that she's not just some side character. No, SHE CAME IN WITH THE KNOWLEDGE! She knew her shit and she was very resourceful! She knew info that even the Autobots didn't know!!!

I like how inquisitive she is. She saw a new artifact come in at work and she was immediately drawn to it and wanted to learn more about it. She did her own research on her OWN TIME on the markings engraved on the artifact/transwarp key, and I love that! Her boss really had the audacity to take credit for her work and ignored her when she wanted to be apart of the team that would be working on unlocking the history behind the artifact/transwarp key. But nah, she still found a way to learn more about it. You go girl!

Literal hand writing! I love love LOVE how quick she was to record information! The way she quickly started writing down markings on her hand in pen when the door to the lab technician room slammed in her face. Yes! You write those markings, girl! We ain't done! Or when her and Noah were in the underground ancient temple in Peru and she was writing down markings on her hand again. Yes!

I like that Elena took it upon herself to protect the transwarp key with her life. She didn't even understand its significance yet, but she was already ready to protect it when she first met Noah. She wasn't even scared at all, she really decked him HARD in the face to protect it! Like damnnn! 🤣 And the little rapid side step fake out thing she did with him was absolutely HILARIOUS! I can't! 🤣🤣

I love that Elena isn't a harmful stereotype and wasn't thrown into some harmful trope. No, she got to exist and be unapologetically black while still being such a likable character. Representation is SO important and it's nice to see black characters shine in sci-fi media and be apart of the adventure. Growing up, I've always dreamed of seeing characters like Elena take on main roles in a sci-fi show/movie, and in a Transformers show/movie and get to be friends with the robots. I'm so glad that characters like Elena exists. What a time to be alive! 🥺

Elena's love for history and artifacts was a nice touch. She's an artifacts researcher/history nerd and I am so here for it! And that little dinosaur sticker on her car! Cute! 🥰 I like that she was essentially the team's well of knowledge, in the sense that she immediately knew where the location for the second half of the transwarp key is, and she knew what the second half of the code is when Primal thought it died with Airazor. She really said, "I got this!" and it was go time! She had her little notebook of info at the ready and seeing all the notes, sketches and markings that she jotted down was cool.

NAVIGATING THROUGH HIGHLY ADVANCED ALIEN TECHNOLOGY LIKE A BOSS!!! Like excuse me, what??! Elena was able to figure out how to use the control panel during the final battle with ease. My anxiety could never! She navigated through a control panel that had so many different alien symbols to flip through AND it was a multi functioning panel that had a lot going on. But that did not stop her, nope, nope, nope! She got down to business, figured it out quick and entered the codes!!! 👏🏾

I like how connected Elena is to Airazor. From the moment she first laid eyes on the new artifact in the museum that resembled Airazor, to the moment she first laid eyes on Airazor, is just beautiful. She was mesmerized by her and it really showed! And their interactions throughout the movie is just **chef's kiss** 🤌🏾 Especially the scenes when Elena was concerned for Airazor's health after Scourge left his "mark" on her wing that inevitably led to her demise. You could feel how much Airazor's death affected Elena. 😔 FUCK YOU, SCOURGE!!!! Andddd hearing that there was supposed to be a scene in the movie where Elena jokingly says to Airazor, "I bet you make bots turn their necks when you fly by.", only for Airazor to respond with, "I did know to shake a tail feather or two." AHHHHHHHHH!!!! WE WERE ROBBED!!! 😡😡😡😡

Elena coming on the mission, despite looking very fearful at first is very admirable. She probably knew in her heart that she was destined to be apart of the mission, and she wanted to help save two worlds. Absolutely amazing! And the scene when she talks about her father and how fond she is of him is beautiful. "If you keep your eyes and ears open, life will show you everything you need to know." I love that line so much! 👏🏾

I like that Elena isn't an overly sexualized love interest for Noah, or assigned to him because he has a massive crush on her, like how Mikaela was with Sam in the 2007 Transformers movie. I know some people ship these 2 hard and I don't mind one bit (Noah/Elena shippers, do your thang! ✌🏾), but it was just nice to see a female character not be thrown into the love interest role for the main human character in a Transformers movie.

Elena became very close to Noah because they were the only humans on the Stop Unicron Team and they were actively working together to stop Unicron from destroying their home planet. But their relationship throughout the movie was giving me very strong sibling vibes.

We already know that Noah is a family man and his relationship with his little brother Kris is so wholesome! He loves his little bro so much! 🥺🥺 So seeing Noah be so protective of Elena throughout the movie was giving me that same sibling energy and it was really wholesome to watch!!! The way he would quickly grab her and step in front of her to protect her from danger, or the way he helped her down that dangerous ass entrance to the ancient underground temple, or gently drag her away to safety, or blast at anything that even attempted to attack her, or warn her about imminent danger, or how he made sure she was okay after a corrupted Airazor attacked her, and how he gently pushed her curls to the side, etc. Just ahhhhh! Their interactions were so GECICWHCICCEJCJ!!!! 😍

However...if you want to talk about Anthony Ramos and Dominique Fishback's interactions during their interviews together, then yeah, they're cute af!!!! 👀 Anthony was continuing to channel his inner Noah and was still holding onto those protective tendencies with Dominique, and I just found that absolutely adorable. 🥺

A happy, happy, SUPER HAPPY ENDING FOR ELENA!!! I really like that Elena FINALLY got recognition for her work at the end of the movie. I was so happy when I saw that ending scene! 😭

Okay! I think I covered everything I wanted to say about Elena and how she is an absolute queen, and how she is making my inner girl smile from ear to ear. If you read everything I just said, you are awesome! Thank you! 😘

Spoilers for TBOSAS below:

They p much captured everything described in the book, it was all translated perfectly onscreen.

The tributes broke my heart 😩💔💔 especially reaper, wovey, dill, marcus, lamina and coral. All of their deaths were so impactful and the film showed such an interesting juxtaposition between the privileged mentors and the underprivileged tributes (when the tributes died and their mentor stomped off in defeat)

Lucky flickerman was hilarious and was of some much needed levity to the film

Coryo’s relationship with Tigris also broke my heart 💔 when she said he looked so much like his father in the end ohhh my god that was chilling.

Sejanus was *chefs kiss* perfect. His willingness to do what’s right when everyone tells him to don’t do it was so important to see onscreen, coryo’s “betrayal” hurt so much more.

Lucy Gray was also so good. I loved her voice and she was portrayed to a T like her book counterpart.

The ending was sooo good and Tom’s performance was jaw droppingly good. I could literally feel his desperation and his anguish and his anger all at once.

I loved the moving animation of the songbird and the snake intertwined like how we saw the mockingjay symbol in the original movies

ok i finally watched goncharov and i have THOUGHTS

i. was not prepared for the beer bottle scene. i see why y'all are being so vague that was........an experience.

clocks this clocks that yeah but THE POCKETWATCH specifically. first of all it's gorgeous but second of all: goncharov keeping it in his left breast pocket, right over his heart. the combination of it being a gift from andrey (🏳️‍🌈) and also serving as a symbol for how aware goncharov is that he is running out of time. it's close to the chest, ticking away.

i also love how the clocktowers just loom overhead and clocks will be framed juuust right in the background to draw attention to them. i am a cinematography bitch and i love attention to detail so this whole movie was just [chefs kiss]

SOFIA AND KATYA MY LOVES!!!!! holy shit i was so happy to see that the fandom representation of them wasn't overblown, it's just Actually That Gay. the way sofia looks at katya is 💓. the way that you can practically SEE katya's heart skip a beat, like she gasps a little when sofia touches her arm in the market.

i need to see couples cosplays btw...don't let me down

anyways YES it is as good as people are making it out to be YES you should watch it if you're on the fence. love how this site gets me interested in such niche stuff!!

I love that the fnaf movie leaned heavily on William's interpretation in The Silver Eyes, the fact that he purposely keeps the Pizzeria around as well as the souls of his victims as a kind of morbid trophy/symbol of his ownership of them it just [chefs kiss]

just got done watching the 50th anniversary touring production of jesus christ superstar. here are The Thoughts

i've watched either the movie or a different bootleg of jcs during the week of easter for the past 8 years. i LOVE jcs and am very familiar with the material, so this was not a first for me except for seeing it live

i'm not sure if the setup for the staging was unique, but there were 3 big parts: 2 two level bits that were set up towards the back (one that was used almost solely for the instruments) and then in the middle was a very large, elevated cross made of grated metal. it was where the smoke machine bits came through and it had bright lights that hugged the edges.

the way that the cross elevated a bit in the middle of the stage and bisected it was really cool. it let different actors (a lot of the time jesus pre-arrest) elevate themselves over the rest of the scene, and created a pretty clear divide between two different events/sides.

costumes- most of them were what i'd expect from a jcs production, but i was impressed by how lowkey and modern jesus's civilian clothes were (the khaki shorts, the loose white top, the light gray hoodie) and then the way that the leader guy of the I BELIEVE IN YOU AND GOD SO TELLLL ME THAT I'M SAVED! has jesus's exact same outfit but with the colors of the shirt and hoodie swapped. i dunno that worked for me. judas's look, of course, SLAYED in the don't you get me wrong number. sparkling like a star, with his hair all done up in this brilliant and gorgeous updo... *chefs kiss* and then pilot's crown was good and subtle and i love love loved herod and his gang. herod had a big goofy overcoat that gave him a cartoony frame and then he took it off and was in this straight up cabaret bright gold high boots outfit with french revolution aristocracy era face paint and get up. the lackeys had on these striped outfits and harem pants and the like, big circles that surround your head kinda like a dog cone? and at the very end of the number when he's encroaching in on jesus and about to kick him out he kicks the head of every single lackey who's on the ground in a line, like waiting for a beheading? and then it like SPEWS BLOOD along their neckline and the cone. visually appealing, horrifying, and interesting, especially with the french revolution imagery.

they did this really interesting thing with guitars and microphones with the actors. so jesus had a guitar that he carried around with him a lot and peter did too. jesus took it out during emotional moments and the way that they framed the gethsemane number to start with was him just working out his emotions through song? he plays the number himself (and he and peter were playing on pilot's first little number, which is interesting symbolism) and then as he finally builds to a point where he can't keep going he unplugs the guitar from the amp and goes to cry and finish the number with no mic.... just him.

additions on gethsemane- as he was winding up to the FIIINNNNEEEEE I'LLLLLL DIIIIIIEEEEE bit, the lights started flashing from all different directions. in the divine intensity. you will be doing this. you don't have a choice. then jesus, who's mainly performed in a much more.... traditional? style than neeley's jesus finally DOES take it into that piercing, 70s rocker falsetto belt.... and to have that happen right before he finally... does give up. just collapse into a little pile of just him, no more lighting anymore but this single spotlight on this sad, tired little man... the heart. it wrenches. then judas comes in from the Super Secret Suprise Entrance Cross and everything just keeps going.

super funny when we got all the apostles looking between each other when judas and jesus have their fight and judas leaves and then peter strums a cord and restarts" ALWAYS THOUGHT THAT I'D BE AN APOOOOSTTTLLLEEEEEE"

caiphas was, unfortunately, hot.

thinking about the shift of the ensemble so quickly from We Are The Sinful Temple Fuckers to We Are The Ailing of the Earth and how the ailing surround and overwhelm jesus and the way that it just. is visually even more in person

the use of the mics was also interesting. the high priests had mic stands that they always came in with as props and the dancing with them was cool and worked well, and then jesus/judas/mary passed around a mic some, both on the mic stand and without it. and especially when it was on the stand it gave this sense of... presence and importance. a lot of the judas-mary altercations were spent moving the mic back and forth and it was +++++ especially since we saw the microphone taken away from jesus when he was arrested (taking away his power along with his guitar, his ability to express himself). the mic's cord was ALSO used in really interesting ways. the first time it really comes up is when judas is realizing that he's been duped by the narrative and he's been left with the bag... and then he stretches the bright red cord out to its full length as he climbs up to the second story and threads the cord to stage the hanging... with the microphone. the lighting in this scene was great and just UUUUUGGGGGGHHHHHH watching judas send the microphone over the edge and leaving IT hanging as the symbol of judas's death. fucking. fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck

the other time that the microphone cord itself comes up is in pilot's last number, when the crowd is getting increasingly YOU HAVE NO CHOICE CRUCIFY HIMCRUCIFY HIM! and pilot's like. uh. how about i beat him? will that satisfy your blood lust? and he fucking wraps his mic cord around jesus's hands and holds him in place with it??? like oh my god. that made me feel some kind of way.

peter brought his guitar back out when he and mary magdalene were singing about how jesus should probably make things stop sucking now, please? then them on the smaller, more cut off scene watching jesus get beaten and sentenced to crucifixion. the powerlessness of that staging

jesus spends most of that number physically on the ground. he falls off the cross to the ground. he's so bloody and broken looking and it was painful.

the way the crowd shifts from being the taunting crowd to the JESUS CHRIST! SUPERSTAR! background singers. but. this staging... it had jesus. out during this number. and the chorus kept on hurting him as they KEPT DEMANDING ANSWERS? just like the way that they made every character who did that a guard (they had different roman emperor heads, it was great) and then. jesus is still there. he is still broken and beaten and Not Yet Crucified. and they're passing him around like emma perkins in inevitable.

(and his horror keeps going on)

something about how they gave judas's actor bright white hands after touching the blood money to contrast against his dark brown skin. something about how in this show he gets both pilot and jesus's symbols of being doomed by fate (pilot's bloody hands, jesus's crown of thorns).

like. they do not crucify this poor motherfucker until after the entire staging of "don't you get me wrrrroooonnnngggggg". and then we have to watch him raised onto the cross and his painful cries and everything. a few murmured notes from the crowd. then it's just a few actors helping to take jesus down off the cross and judas sitting on the edge, looking forlorn and regretful and just. so lost.

and a tattered jesus manages to move to the spot across from him, and sends him a tiny smile. he takes the crown of thorns off his own head and passes it over to judas.

the lights go down and the show is over. judas is forgiven. he's elevated! he's trapped!!!!!!! he and jesus are here together in this story that neither of them can control. they share that knowledge, and then the lights go down.

Rating the Captain America Uniforms From Best to Worst

First Place: Top Tier Uniforms

Stealth suit - A gift to humanity. Beautiful. Subtle. Perfectly fitted. The height of costume design. Hands down the best uniform in the MCU, I will not take any criticism.

Nomad - Perfection. Powerful. Badass. The symbolism of him no longer wearing any symbols and just being Steve Rogers? *chef's kiss*

Second Place: (my beloved)

Howling commandoes - There is just something unique and special about it that I can't explain. I love all the straps and i love the more subtle colouring. The emotional significance of him wearing it in TWS in an attempt to break through to Bucky is beautiful and gutting.

Third Place: Good

Civil War - Standard Cap uniform. I really love the little detail of him removing his Avengers patches from the shoulders following the introduction of the accords and his opposition to them.

Fourth Place: Neutral

AoU - Standard Cap uniform. No strong feelings.

Fifth Place: Honorary Mention

USO - Bucky, this is for you. I've seen the booty shorts and the chest-hugging top, I get it. Also it's kind of endearing and cute in a campy sort of way. Great look to wear to Pride w/o the tights.

Sixth Place: This is The Bad Place

Endg*me (All Uniforms)- One, I hate that the put him back in the Cap look, it was just another step in undoing his entire development/arc. Two, I hate the new scaly suit, it's I hate that the time suit is just CGI, I hate that they tainted the stealth suit. Three, there is just something Off™️/unsettling about all his looks in this movie that is very Stepford Wives. Only in second last place bc the last place entry doesn't have the benefit of being well designed.

Last Place: Turbo Hell

Avengers (2012) suit - Abomination. There is nothing good or redeeming about it. Everything about it is awful and redundant and ugly and I've never hated a costume this much. It's trying so hard to be the USO uniform but it never will be her. Why are there random zippers? Why the puffy gloves? Why any of it?
