I saw a post about something, and it’s been ruminating in my head.
It hurts most for me because of my chronic conditions - especially those that aggressively my Executive Functioning Disorder.
But it’s such a fucking horrible message for just - everyone.
No-one can ever be too busy - if they care, they would make time.
Just. No.
Fucking no.
Imagine a typical United States nuclear family, two working parents, two kids.
It’s flu season, the eldest child is in basketball, the younger child has to go to an after school learning center because of general help.
How many things can go wrong with this family in December?
What if one of the parents is fired because of job complications related to the breakdown of Twitter, Meta et al., because those disasters are going to affect public relations in every industry in a ripple effect that is already being felt throughout Silicon Valley.
Who does what if one of the kids is sick, the other still had commitments, but both parents are still working but with mandatory overtime.
And the grandparents have work of their own, because they’re still not approaching the distancing retirement age.
Where does this family find the hours to reconnect with family across the continent, their church, their hunting buddies, their book club?
How many commitments is the average modern adult expected to maintain???
This lie of “if you cared, you’d make time” fucking hurts regular physically and neurologically typical individuals overwhelmed in a society that has systematically removed supports and blamed them for it.
How does it harm those who needed additional supports anyway?
We care.
We fucking care.
But we are overwhelmed.
Physically abused on a cellular level by exhaustion, unending cycles of illness we cannot take time off to recover from, and the very support institutions we previously relied upon to maintain connections burning before our eyes.
We fucking care.
But we don’t have any time left to use, let alone make.

The gall of Bruce to say ‘they don’t know the dark like i do’ about Dick and Jason. Like, buddy, both of these adult men have been fighting for their lives on Gothams streets since before they hit double digits. You toured Asia in your twenties. One of them swallowed the literal embodiment of darkness. The other one crawled out of his own grave. They have both gotten their own training under specialist mentors besides you, after they learned everything you had to teach. The patronising bullshit of this man.

Infinitely grateful that the FHJY finale validated my hatred of Kipperlily. She’s an interesting character and all, but she’s not some misunderstood, overlooked student that a lot of people make her out to be. She’s a self-centered, arrogant, obsessive murderer who willingly chose rage (and seemingly forced her friends into it) instead of actually putting effort in who thinks she should get everything she wants by virtue of existing

"You're the princess, daddy! Lie down, go to sleep and we'll save you!"
Inspired by this lovely dadstarion fic by @wilteddreamsofbaldursgate ✨
I got sick and was for all intents and purpose dead but this was so good I came back to life briefly to do this sketch. Y'all should check it out!
Also, it made me think of the song "King" by Lauren Aquilina and now I'm drowning in the feels.

Every time I remember this I go incandescent with rage. Like, yeah, Jeffrey, that’s the fundamentals of storytelling right there. What do you MEAN you forgot a plan????

Thanks to all my patrons for supporting me!
Turns out when you actually do your own research and writing [AHEM!] it takes time to make good content. These awesome names and plenty of generous people like them help make that happen. Their pledges give me the time to research the show PROPERLY and also go towards paying the crew, who make the show look spectacular.
If you can, and you wanna support what I do, sign up and join them :)

i love g1 but i'm actually getting so sick of g1 purists like it's not enough for them that g1 existed and was popular, it has to exist now and continue forever even though that's just not how toy companies work. i have yet to see a post that even mentions g3 that doesn't have 10 billion "bring back g1!!" comments. like today i saw a comment under a post about the g3 show possibly being cancelled saying "hoping this mean we'll get a g1 comeback" girl get a grip!! like please step back and remind yourself you are not the target audience for a children's toy and let the g1 ghouls rest in peace.

the way that nick spell in 14x17 makes it canonically SO easy to open a portal to the empty. it drives me insane. dean literally HAD cas's blood. on his jacket. it was all right there. it was set up perfectly. why show us nick opening a portal to the empty and specifically showing that the main ingredient was BLOOD then. not using that. dean was meant to rescue cas!!!!! full circle moment. i'm the one who gripped you tight a raised you from perdition. what's the matter, cas? you don't think you deserve to be saved? i love you, too. of course i love you. SMOOCH. anyways.

Maybe the problem with Christian fiction is that it's non-denominational. People are just "Christian", with no effort put into showing what practicing that religion looks like for them specifically. No indication that there are other Christians who could have different beliefs. No wrestling with differing ideas and the struggle of how one should live out their Christian faith. And that makes it unrealistic and unrelatable.

i don’t understand how people can be so fucking cruel about people who can’t read much (including people who aren’t literate, though this post is from my experience with chronic illness). like, one of my main motivations behind posting excerpts of butch+femme writing on my main (@campgender ; it’s fine to go through my bookshelf tag but please only followers age 18+ on that blog!) is that it is fucking hard to read a full book!!
my reading comprehension & stamina decreased drastically when i developed ME, & while i’m overjoyed that i’ve recently regained a lot of that particular ability since getting blackout curtains, there are absolutely still texts i can’t even begin to parse that i once would’ve loved digging into — texts that it would be actively dangerous for me to attempt to struggle through because it would break pacing.
idk i’m not trying to be self-congratulatory here or whatever but like. the second i could access information through this means again, the focus of my (very fucking limited!!) energy has been giving it back to my people. my life has been unquestionably, deeply shaped by tumblr users who share excerpts of theory & memoir & poetry because they were providing labor of which i was in need & incapable.
finding, selecting, transcribing, formatting, & at times contextualizing passages takes a lot of fucking time & energy, but in order for me to encounter certain concepts, experiences, & histories, it’s work somebody else had to do, because i couldn’t read 200 pages of research or anthology in order to encounter the 10 that would change my life — but posted 2 or 3 pages at a time, i could save that in my drafts to get through on a good day, & quotes that were only a couple lines i could usually read right when i encountered them.
so, in memory of the years i spent unable to access theory through anything other than excerpts & secondhand summaries,
and in anticipation of the years to come where i will live the same,
and in acceptance that the brain is a muscle, in love of we the exercise-intolerant,
to you, dear reader — whatever form & frequency & duration that reading may take, even if it’s no further than this post — i make my motherfucking covenant: the issues i discuss around pulling quotes will be about the political act of the ellipse and the ethics of transcription, not shaming people for the methods of accessing information that are available to them. as often & as long as i am able, people can ask me to explain something or summarize in plain language and i will meet them with respect, interest, & effort. if someone’s looking for information on a particular topic, identity, experience & doesn’t have the energy to find it, i’m gonna give what i have towards filtering through the bullshit for the gems.
according to our abilities. according to our needs.
and the next time somebody tells you it’s not ableist to say everyone has to read [whatever work], tell them to go put their precious ability to better use in making it more accessible.

It pisses me off so much when people try to hold older queer media to today's standards.
Oh, is The Rocky Horror Picture Show "PrObLeMaTiQuE"????
Homosexuality was only taken out of the DSM 2 years prior to that movie's release. Shut the fuck up.
