Ski Resort Headcanons

Here are some random headcanons about the vampires going to a ski resort:

Louis - Would spend most of his time inside the lodge near the fireplace, reading. He might be implored to go out snowshoeing or cross-country skiing on one of the shorter trailers and appreciates walks around the lodge in the snow.

Lestat - Would insist on skiing the hardest triple-diamond slopes after refusing any lessons. But when he got to the top of the slope, he might question the wisdom of that. Luckily his immortal body can take a beating because he would struggle with the moguls and steeper grades (occasionally flying up over them to avoid crashing), though he’d get to the bottom and brag it was no problem.

Marius - Is actually a practiced skier, who’s spent several winters in the Alps skiing. He would pass Lestat on the harder slopes and maybe even stop to try and help him. Lestat would refuse.

Daniel - Has probably spent some time skiing with Marius. Is pretty good at it although he has no desire to fling himself down the steepest face of a mountain and sticks to the more medium slopes. He also appreciates time in the warm lodge by the fire, playing games on his iPad.

Armand - Is an adept skier who might go with Daniel or Marius or both of them. He would get goaded into doing the most difficult runs because Lestat would insist he couldn’t and Armand would feel the need to prove him wrong, which he would do, accusing Lestat of cheating when he uses the cloud gift to skip the more difficult sections. And he’d enjoy taking quiet walks with Louis around some of the shorter trails. But Armand’s favorite part is riding the ski lifts. He likes getting on and off them, and then being whisked through the air on that little chair.

Gabrielle - Would mostly snowshoe around and lurk in the off-limit forested areas between the runs and trails.

Thorne - Would love skiing and particularly enjoy the easier slopes since he could just glide down and then hike back up. Only rides the ski lift if someone goes with him.

Benji and Sybelle - Armand would buy them the most high-end snow gear and suits. Benji would snowboard.

Jesse - Would stick to the medium runs just because she finds them more fun and doesn’t like the stress of the super difficult ones. Would also enjoy holding a hot cocoa near the fire to smell it and feel its warmth in her hands.

Pandora - All about ice skating if it’s available, though she might get on the skis for a bit just to prove she’s every bit as good as Marius.

Bianca - Also prefers to snowboard. Tries to get Armand and Daniel to try it with her, but Armand spends far too much time researching and trying to pick the best snowboards for them both instead of just… renting some and doing the thing.

How many pages did the last book you read have? I don’t even remember the last time I opened it; but if I have to guess, it’s probably anywhere between 600–800 pages.

What do you like on your pancakes? Soaked in butter, with peanut butter and maple syrup on the side. My dad will also sometimes mix bacon into the batter, and it always turns out delicious.

Do you like small parties or large parties more? I love going to any kind of party, but I like large ones just a little bit more just because it’s easier to blend in and go unnoticed for the most part. I usually feel pressured at smaller parties.

What was the last exam you passed in? I have no idea. Maybe a history exam? I remember taking a Rizal exam right before the pandemic started and I never got the results for that since classes were canceled shortly after. I’ll never know if I actually passed that test haha.

Do you think paw prints are cute? Yesssssss.

How much would you pay a neighbour to do your lawn? We have someone in the village who does that, and my mom usually gives him a tip of I would guess around ₱100.

Ordinary pens, scented pens, gel pens or felt tip pens? Ordinary. The other ones write horribly.

Are you a people person? I’ve grown to be one over the years. I do like my alone time, but I have the most fun with a person or two or ten around me.

Do you put pepper on your scrambled eggs? No. I never use pepper myself, actually.

Who, except yourself, has the nicest pet? Angela’s, at least one of her dogs are. Hailey is super nice and she doesn’t really care what you do with her hahahaha.

What's your favourite piece of clothing? Right now, probably my IVP sneakers since they’re my newest purchase. Other than that, my mom jeans are always super reliable.

What place have you gone to that you never would again? Police stations that I had to visit to cover stories for my journalism classes. Maybe it’s other people’s passion – and I thought it was mine at one point, too – but once I found myself in places like that I slowly realized that I didn’t have the fire for journalism I once thought I had.

What do others seem to have plenty of and you have little or none? Nice photos of themselves. I’m very camera shy.

Is pink a nice colour, an okay colour or icky? I personally love pink, so.

Give me a description of a great film plotline? ...I don’t feel like it :(( I also haven’t watched/rewatched any films in a while, so my memory is a bit rusty.

What do you have in your pockets? Nothing I’m wearing right now has pockets.

Do you listen to podcasts? Not really. I’m part of the minority that finds podcasts a little boring.

Do you ever use the word quaint? Very rarely. I never really get into situations where that word would be most fitting to use.

Do you usually ask a lot of questions? I never do. I feel like that’s a weakness of mine, too. My mind never wanders too far, and I’m only able to recognize good questions when someone else raises them.

Do you listen to the radio often? I used to, since I once drove to school everyday and I liked having the radio on - especially in the morning, since there was a morning program I was hooked to. Do you prefer rain or snow? We only get rain, so.

Have you ever ran into someone and injured you or them due to it? Fortunately no, for both circumstances.

Do you listen to rap music? K-Pop groups always have their own rap sub-unit, so yeah I’ve definitely been more exposed to rap these days.

Do you find pet rats gross or nice? Why? I guess it’s cute when they’re pets, since I’m sure they’re harmless. Not so much when they’re big black filthy rats that are house pests and probably carrying a lot of diseases.

Do you remember your first best friends Mum's name? I don’t think I ever met her mom. Our friendship was super short-lived and didn’t go beyond preschool.

Do you prefer rice or tofu? I need rice for literally every meal, otherwise it won’t feel filling. I like tofu too, but I only have it occasionally when it comes with some dishes.

Do you know a Robert? What's he like? I have an uncle-in-law named Robert. He’s very nice, and super intelligent; he’s from New Zealand but currently lives with my aunt and their family in Vietnam. Since he’s from a different country, he has lots of fun stories and different perspectives to share at family reunions, which makes me always want to sit at whichever table he’s at so that I can be part of interesting conversations.

Do you feel safe in your neighbourhood? Yeah, I mean that’s kind of the whole point in living in a gated village. I’d be pretty alarmed if I ever hear of a crime happening here.

Do you put salt on your fries? Yessssssss, I need my fries to be very salty. Unless it was already seasoned with something else, I’d find it boring if it wasn’t salty enough.

Do you think we are all born the same? In some ways, yes; in some ways, no. I know everyone is born as humans worthy of love and respect, but when it comes to factors like privilege then that’s when circumstances start to get all different.

When did you stop believing in Santa? I never bought it. I used to always get frustrated that I was never allowed to meet Santa (none of my relatives ever played as him), and that he apparently just likes to leave gifts at midnight. Not seeing a Santa made me doubt and eventually I just kinda stopped buying it by the time I was like 5.

Do you think the name Sarah is pretty? Erm, it’s fine but I find it a little common.

Is Saturday your favourite day of the week? Fridays are, but Saturdays are a very close second.

When commenting, sometimes words don’t do justice to whatever emotion I’m trying to express. I’m big on emoticons, especially on AO3 because it has a limit on characters, but there’s an alternative that was just as big a part of it for my Tumblr reviews.

The BEST thing??? Okay… Okay, in my humble opinion, the BEST THING about ASOIAF that keeps me entranced is how well GRRM does the POV chapter thing!

I’m cheating bc actually that one thing is supported by two: First of all, there’s how much thought he puts into it, and how many layers there are. I’ve reread all the books, some more than others (I must have relistened/reread AFFC at least 5 times, which is surprising, considering I wasn’t that into it the first time around!), and every single time I find stuff I hadn’t noticed before. And there are lots of things I never notice at all, but other people do! There are objective things, like vague references that suddenly become relevant on the reread, when you already know what it will lead to… but there are also subjective things, like the way a character constructs their thoughts, or even stuff like - Tyrion not being so good at guessing people’s ages! Sansa curating her own memories! It’s an extremely rich book, and - of course, I’m mad GRRM is taking so long, I wanna read it! - but OTOH it really pays off (in my opinion!!) when the result is something so deep. Also, I think it’s well made enough that you really can choose your “setting” when reading it. Yes, there is a LOT going on, but if you want to just fly by it all and read it in a rush just for the drama, you can! And if you want to read it super slowly while analyzing every sentence - you can do that too! So (IN MY OPINION) it is a book for all moods with an extremely high reread value and to fully enjoy it you need to do a little homework… my favorite things hahaha

The second thing that sustains the POV structure is that I think GRRM in general really respects his characters. There are exceptions (mumbles abt Selyse) but when it comes to the POVs, I have never stopped reading to cry “OOC!” or “that’s just happening for plot convenience and doesn’t match with the rest!!” (I’m lying, I definitely did that once or twice with Jon Snow, but eh whatever). He really manages to give an individual voice to each of his characters, and the POV system allows him to make very interesting non-POV characters too. Moreover, despite the shock value of a bunch of things, it’s pretty clear he has a pre-set path and the themes and narratives he constructs with his characters make a lot of sense. People who say he’s just having fun by making up random stuff to shock his audience are really not paying attention ;)

I already cheated and gave you two things but I feel compelled to add a third: I really think ASOIAF is a very sincere book? It has its cynical moments here and there, but I don’t feel GRRM is feeling smug and superior when infusing his book with violence: i think he really has something he wants to convey, and I respect that sincerity more than anything when it comes to art. That also means I forgive the tacky stuff, too… idk, it really feels like he puts his heart on it and it pays off! It’s not a perfect book but I really think it’s brilliant, and I love it very, very much. It’s not for everyone, but it’s definitely (been?) for me :)

Lol you do realize I’m barely into mainstream Vocaloid. Haku certainly doesn’t count as mainstream and she’s really all I care about anymore lol… but I will answer anyway.

Favorite character: Is this even a question. She’s my muse, my love, my URL. In case you haven’t noticed, the crown goes to Haku Yowane.

Character I find most attractive: Um, Haku? She’s gorgeous in a beautifully unconventional way with her snow-kissed white eyelashes and wintery hair. And those ruby red eyes that provide such a stark contrast to her snowy locks. Also, Luka. Whenever I write about Luka, I liken her to the Arctic Ocean because of her icy blue eyes and kuudere personality. I also liken her to warm water, the way the ice in her eyes melt when she smiles or cries.

Character I would marry: Haku, full stop.

Character I would be best friends with: Again, Haku. She’s my soul.

A random thought: Man, I sure love HAKU YOWANE.

An unpopular opinion: Haku Yowane is to me, what Miku is to many other people. She reached my soul and helped me through so many bad times. I saw a soul in her, a personality. She inspired me to keep going. She inspired me that maybe I can be more than a failure too.

My canon OTP: What is even canon in Vocaloid.

Non-canon OTP: Haku x Luka? I’ve been drifting away from Haku x Neru ever-so-slightly. I really love the mature, sophisticated, tender feel of Haku x Luka. 

Most badass character: Neru and Merli. Haku is also badass in her own way. Even though she’s timid she has moments of true bravery that surprises everyone including herself.

Pairing I am not a fan of: Anything that’s creepy or morally wrong. Not getting into details I guess.

Character I feel the writers screwed up (in one way or another): What writers? The only way Vocaloid screwed up was to forget all about the goddess Haku Yowane.

Favourite friendship: Haku and Miku. I headcanon them as cousins. I also love Miku, Rin, and Len as besties with each other. I like Miku and Luka more as friends than as a couple. Finally, there’s Gumi and Miku. These somehow all have Miku as a part of them, which makes sense because I headcanon Miku as a very nice and outgoing girl with a lot of friends.
