The Effect of Jeuyun Chilis

Xingqiu adds Jeuyun Chilis to Chongyun's food as a prank. It doesn't go quite as expected.

Alternate summary: Jeuyun Chili powder can sometimes have strange effects on the pale-haired exorcist, as Xingqiu is about to find out.

I laugh to myself as Chongyun takes a bite of his cold noodles. The dish has Jeuyun Chili powder, another one of my many pranks on the light-haired boy. As soon as the spicy taste hits his tongue, a flush appears on his pale cheeks.

"Oh no! Xingqiu, did you..." he begins to exclaim, but his eyes lose focus as they often do when he sees spirits, and he trails off.

Concerned that he will go on another one of his episodes where he tries to exorcise demons that only he can see, I wave my hand in front of his face to get his attention. "Yun Yun," I say, "are you alright?".

His eyes regain their focus, and his intense stare focuses on my face. He is silent for a moment, long enough that I become self-conscious that there might be something on my face.

"Qiu, you look so beautiful." he finally says with a strange look. His tone is so confident, unlike his usually shy and reserved nature. This change in demeanour is not a surprise to me. Expected even, since that is his usual reaction to spicy foods. But he has never complimented me before, even in this state. A blush rises on my cheeks, mirroring him.

He notices, and a concerned look crosses his face. "Qiu, did you catch a cold from the rain yesterday?" As he says this, he uses the back of his hand to check if I have a fever. His hands, which are usually cold, are warm on my forehead. The change seems to be from the chilis since he usually uses his cryo vision to keep his temperature down.

The warmth of his touch has an unexpected effect on me. I lean my head slightly into his hand. I hadn't realized what I was missing - that I needed the warmth of human touch until this moment. I allow myself to indulge in his touch before coming back to myself and realizing that we are in public.

"N-No, I'm fine." I stutter out in response. I internally berate myself at how shaky my voice sounds.

He looks unconvinced, but he doesn't press the issue. "I'll take your word for it, Qiu. Do you want to finish our meals, then we can go for a walk around the harbour if you like?"

I don't trust my voice after my last words, so I nod my assent instead. The exorcist smiles at me and moves his chair closer to me. He probably doesn't want to be too far from me if I am ill like he suspects. But instead of just moving slightly closer as I expected, he moves so his thigh is pressing against mine.

After the realization that I had earlier, the touch burns. I take a few moments to remember to breathe before turning back to my food. I look up and see Xiangling giggling behind her hand. No doubt she is laughing at how flustered I am. Much to my embarrassment, I feel my face get even hotter. I immediately turn my face down towards my food, hoping that my hair will cover my face. I keep my face tilted downwards the entire time I eat, even as Chongyun begins chatting with Xiangling and the other patrons of the Wanmin Restaurant. Surprisingly, the chilis do not seem to have much of an effect on him otherwise.

After I finish my food, I pull out my pouch of Mora to pay Xiangling. Chongyun is distracted in a chat with Ying'er. They seem to be talking about the potential uses of perfume in exorcisms. Since I sabotaged Chogyun's food, it is only fair that I pay the bill.

As I stand up to give Xiangling the Mora, I feel a presence behind me. I correctly assume that it is Chongyun, as I catch sight of his hair in the corner of my eye. Surprisingly, I feel the solid chest of the claymore wielder against my back. His arms wrap around my waist, and his chin rests on my shoulder. It takes all my focus to stay standing and not melt in his arms. Hoping that my weakness is not visible on my face, I quickly hand Xiangling the Mora, which she takes with a smile.

"Are we ready to leave yet?" he whispers to me. His voice, which I have always found soothing, makes me want to curl up in his arms and forget everything else.

"Yun Yun," I gasp in response. At the moment, the only thing I can think about is him. His warmth seeps through my clothes and sinks into my skin. The faint scent of Qingxin flowers, ice, and what can only be described as uniquely Chongyun hangs in the air around him. I can feel his chest vibrate with his speech, but the sound of his voice doesn't reach my ears. After a couple moments, he releases me from his embrace.

I almost let out a needy whine, wanting him to hold me again. My body feels freezing cold, and a shiver runs down my spine. Luckily, I am saved from embarrassing myself when he grabs my hand and intertwines our fingers. "Let me take you home, Qiu. You must be tired." He says in a gentle tone.

Maybe I am just tired, I think to myself. But when Chongyun begins to lead me away from the restaurant, I grip his hand and dig in my heels. "Yun Yun." I whimper. I don't know what I am asking for. Maybe I am asking him to hold me again.

He seems to understand what I am asking for. He steps close to me again, and his free hand reaches up to cup my cheek. I can't help but let my eyes fall shut and lean into his touch. I can feel his breaths on my lips. My heart hammers in my chest, and I can't believe this is happening. I almost want to check if this is a dream again, but it would ruin the mood.

The gentle touch of slightly chapped lips against mine brings me back to reality. It feels different than in my dreams. There are no fireworks like the romance novels describe. In fact, it doesn't even feel all that special. At the same time, it is magical and better than I ever imagined. This is Chongyun, my best friend for as long as I can remember, and the boy who I have had a crush on since I learned what romance is.

After far too short of a time, he pulls away. I slowly open my eyes and see him smiling at me. I blush from the tenderness in his gaze. He gently tugs my hand, silently asking if I feel ready to go yet. I give him a dazed nod, lost in the memory of the short kiss.

He leads me toward my family's mansion, and I blindly follow. Trusting him to guide me in the right direction. My mind goes over the evening, replaying Chongyun's bold actions. His compliment, the thought of which makes me blush again. The warmth of his body when he held me, the slight taste of the spicy noodles on his lips. I could float up to the Jade Chamber, and Chongyun's hold is the only thing keeping me grounded.

I am only brought back to the present when Chongyun's hand lets go of mine. My support is gone, and I look around for him, scared that something terrible happened to him. I recognize the entryway of the Commerce Guild's mansion. To my relief, Chongyun is still close to me. He is simply helping me take off my shoes before we enter the house. Once he is done with his task, he looks up at me. Realizing that I am looking at him, he offers me a smile and helps me stand. I take his hand. He pulls me up with more strength than expected, and I fall onto his chest. Laughing slightly at his own mistake, he decides to pick me up in a bridal carry. I give a yelp of surprise, not expecting his move. Instinctively, I reach up and grip his shoulders for some leverage.

When I realize the position we are in, my face heats up. The cryo vision holder giggles at the deep blush on my face, prompting me to hide my face against him. He continues to laugh for a few moments before he begins to walk. Having been in the mansion enough times that he knows the layout, I trust him to know how to get to my room. I'm glad that it is late enough that the maids have gone home for the day. After some walking, allowing my face to cool down significantly, Chongyun shifts his hold on me to free up his hand. Once we enter my room, we are greeted with the scent of silk flowers.

The exorcist lowers himself onto my bed and adjusts me in his arms. I end up sitting on his lap, with my legs over one of his thighs. In the safety of my room, I finally feel comfortable enough to look up at him. He has a caring smile, and his eyes hold so much tenderness that I almost tear up. The gaze leaves me feeling vulnerable, and I am tempted to hide again.

"Are you back with me, Qiu?" His gentle voice reaches me, soothing away my worries. My voice cracks as I give a positive reply, and my face heats up again. Why does the icy-haired boy make me blush so much? I can see the relief on his face as he smiles reassuringly at me. A calloused hand gently rubs across my back. The warmth of his touch surrounds me. As greedy as it may sound, I want more. Trusting his strength, I slump against him and allow him to hold me up.

Sleep pulls at me, beckoning me with its welcoming darkness. I resist, wanting to bask in the warmth of the touch. I'm scared that Chongyun will leave me in the morning when he realizes that I am too needy. My eyelids flutter as I struggle to lift them.

"Qiu, it's ok, you can sleep. I'm here," Chongyun whispers as if he knows what is bothering me. A gentle kiss is pressed to the crown of my head.

"No, Yun Yun. Want you to cuddle me." I whine, too tired to care about how needy I sound. His arms tighten around me for a moment.

"I'll stay Qiu,"

Gentle hands rearrange my limp body, and Chongyun spoons up against my back. His arm wraps around me, surrounding me in warmth once again. He presses gentle kisses against my neck. "Sleep Qiu. I'll be here when you wake up." The reassurance is whispered, muffled slightly by my skin. The combined comfort of his contact and the scent of safety lull me into a peaceful slumber.

how in the world do you even manage to feel touch-starved when you have someone like venti as your partner? he always makes sure to shower you in as much attention and affection as he can possibly give, but maybe it’s not enough for you. that’s alright! he’s just going to have to step up his game then; plus he’s quite fond of being physical with you, so it’s a win-win situation for him.

venti will start by pinning his chest against your back, his warm breath tickling your skin slightly as he begins pressing chaste kisses near your jugular and slowly transitioning towards the top. he pauses in hesitation when his lips hover just below yours, but one look in your adorable eyes staring at him expectantly pushes him to play out his own desires.

venti’s touches are as free as a bird soaring in the azure sky without a care in the world, a harmonious melody played from a lyre that can soften even the coldest of hearts, and an ocean of watercolor that washes away your pent-up frustrations and worries, for his hugs are like an antidote to cure your sorrows.

“did you have enough yet?” venti giggles in amusement when you shake your head and fondly pats the crown of your skull. “you sure are rather greedy today. nevertheless, it’s times like these that i look forward to the most.” his hand traces random patterns on your open palm, suppressing another building chuckle when he manages to make you shiver.

his ebony strands of hair brushes against your bare skin, as he steps closer towards you and cheekily gives you a kiss on the lips - fervent and savoury. when he pulls away, you almost feel like he’s going to disappear forever, and so you grip his wrist to prevent him from moving any farther. you internally panic, wondering why in the world you made such an irrational move, as an awkward smile slips on your features. “oh?” an eyebrow is raised quizzically. “my love, is there something bothering you? if you want me to kiss you again, i’d be happy to oblige!”

zhongli.

he almost feels a bit guilty when you ask for him to hold you. oh, dear mortal, you don’t even have to question him twice. zhongli is already placing his cup of tea down and gesturing for you to sit on his lap. as you situate yourself comfortably, he begins combing through your hair with his fingers in a soothing manner, murmuring sweet nothings in your ear. his free hand cups your chin delicately, as if he’s handling fine china and turns your face around to meet his, noses barely touching.

zhongli touches in a way that leaves you on cloud nine from how pleasant and satisfying they are. a humble genius he is, the archon knows exactly where to place his hand to elicit a delightful reaction out of you. he’s memorized quite a lot about you during your times spent with him, from your little habits to your preferences, none of it goes unnoticed in his sharp eyes.

he’s not doing this to be creepy, but rather, he can’t seem to find it in himself to look away from you. it should be known by now that the geo archon is allured by your divine presence, like a bee drawn to sweet honey.

“does it hurt?” zhongli asks in concern when you flinch, pausing what he’s doing to look at you. you shake your head carefully so as not to ruin his hard work in braiding your hair and ushers him to continue. you breathe out a sigh of relief, reveling in this moment shared with your beloved.

his touches are so relaxing, you almost find yourself having trouble staying awake, stifling a yawn in the process. a tap to your shoulder snaps you out of your tired state and zhongli hands you a mirror so you can view the finished product. “do you like it?” the man before you inquires in anticipation. when you nod contently, admiring his handiwork, he smiles tenderly and pulls you into a loving embrace. “perhaps it’s fate or a coincidence, however i am very fortunate to have crossed paths with you.”

xiao.

please help him! just like you, xiao is also touch-starved, but he’s not going to admit it any time soon. he yearns to feel your heartbeat against his chest, to permeate himself in your comforting warmth, and to have you caress him whole. a tug on his sleeve or an accidental brush of your fingertips is enough to turn him in a blushing mess, so he’s unsure if he can handle being full-on physical with you.

where is he supposed to begin touching you anyways? your hand? no, maybe your face? he holds out a trembling finger to poke at the crux of your neck, but he finds it hard to actually touch you. xiao is almost afraid that you’ll break if he makes a single incorrect move. you need to reassure him that it’s okay and he can take it as slowly with you as possible. in these moments, it’s best to remain encouraging and patient. this is the first time he’s done anything that’s beyond what he deems ‘scandalous’.

you help guide his hand to take a hold of your cheek, his eyes lowering its gaze to his thighs in hopes that his nervousness goes unnoticed with you. he convinces himself to calm himself. he’s only touching you, so there’s no reason for him to be afraid. it takes him a solid good couple of minutes and repeated strokes to your face before he can finally pacify his beating heart.

“you’re so weird. why in the world do you want me to touch you?” xiao murmurs in a displeased tone, but he would be lying to himself if he said he wasn’t enjoying this. your eyes are closed and your body is made to relax, displaying yourself in a vulnerable position to show that you trust him in whole. a hand caresses your head and another is wrapped around your waist protectively.

you ask him innocently if he would like for you to leave, but he instantly shakes his head. “don’t go just yet. i want to hold onto you a little while longer, so please,” heat rises to his cheeks and he exhales out slowly, “can you stay with me?”

xingqiu.

oya? you’re touch-starved? well, why didn’t you say so? xingqiu will happily give you the luxury of basking in his touches, but only if you return his gestures with a kiss. no, not a kiss on the cheek, silly. isn’t it far more romantic for you to present him with a kiss on the lips instead?

without hesitation, he’ll be clasping your hand with his and swinging them energetically as you’re strolling around liyue together. is this enough to satiate your thirst for touch yet? no? then why don’t he bridal carry you instead?

xingqiu admittedly has way too much fun. nothing is off the table, with him. hugs, kisses, handholding; it’s all here! he likes being the dominant one in the relationship, so allow him to take care of your needs.

xingqiu’s legs are tangled with yours, his lips claiming yours before you can blink. he pulls away slightly and grins. “this is really nice. we should do this more often, my liege.” as you bring your pillow up to shield half of your face shyly, he positions himself until his head is leaning against your chest.

you shift in your spot when he occupies your neck with fluttering butterfly kisses, a gentle laugh blessing your ears. he takes a stray strand of your hair and twirls it around his index finger. “as much as i adore kisses, i love you even more.”

Chongyun / gender-neutral reader.

Synopsis: Due to your shyness and consideration towards your boyfriend’s special constitution, you end up leaving yourself touch starved.

Chongyun appreciates the fact that you’re not as excitable as Xiangling nor as mischievous as Xingqiu, and he finds your shyness cute more than anything.

He loves you a lot and although he can't show it due to his congenital positivity (and to a certain extent, his own shyness), he takes you out on little dates with him around the harbour, and his favourite thing to do with you is having moonlight walks on the beach. Thanks to the Traveler, he knows more about entertainment and free time, and puts that knowledge to good use to expel any doubts you may have about your relationship.

If Xingqiu is like a knight in shining armour, then Chongyun is your Prince Charming. He's so sweet towards you and wants to be able to ensure your happiness with him. If he sees that you're sad, he'll immediately ask you what's wrong and will do everything in his power to make things right so he can see your smile again.

He doesn't mind holding hands with you. You possess a soothing aura that him getting flustered from a simple hand-holding is rare, but he still can't get physically affectionate with you without combusting... which leads to the current problem.

Chongyun doesn't know that you're touch starved because you're doing a good job at hiding it. When you began to realise how much you're craving for Chongyun's physical affections, you initially beat yourself up over it because how can you be so selfish? But then you'd see the young couples around Liyue Harbour hugging, some of them exchanging little pecks on the lips - which made you realise that you and Chongyun never had your first kiss either.

Chongyun is pretty observant, so he'll quickly notice if there is anything different about you. You've been wearing a forced smile around him lately, which worried him. Did something happen? You can tell him anything. Oh no- Why are you looking away from him now? Did he do something to make you upset? What did he do wrong? When he tries holding your hand, your grip is weak. Something is definitely wrong.

He can't stop thinking about you. You're very precious to him, so of course you'd be on his mind constantly. He can't stop thinking about your forced smiles - has he been such a bad boyfriend to you that you've started forcing yourself to smile around him in order to hide your discomfort?

He'll run to your house when he can't take it anymore. He has put your happiness above his own, so he'll make sure he gets to the bottom of this. However, he finds that you're not at home, making him worried. It's late at night already, so where on Teyvat could you be?

Chongyun bites into a popsicle to calm himself down, and then begins to search for you. After a while, he finds you curled up in a fetalesque position under the bridge, crying softly. Eyes widening, he rushes towards you, calling your name.

You hear him approaching and raise your head to look at him with wide eyes. He's confused when you quickly get up and run away from him, but he's determined to not let you get away and chases you down. Thanks to him diligently training every day, he easily catches up to you and grabs your arm before pulling you into a tight hug. He ignores the fact that he may lose control of himself by doing this, but you're more important to him right now.

"Please tell me what's wrong!" he says, keeping you locked in his embrace.

You squirm in his arms and push against his chest, trying to make him let go of you. "Yun, your congenital positivity- You'll lose control-"

"I don't care. You've clearly been upset in the past few days, and I just want to know what I did to hurt you," he tells you as he pulls away, "I don't want to lose you."

You eventually tell him what's been plaguing your mind lately, and Chongyun feels utterly guilty for neglecting your needs. His shy but kind partner has been so considerate towards him because they know about his positive energy, but that resulted in them being touch starved.

He then asks you what it is that you'd like him to do, and you shyly admit that you want him to hug and kiss you. He blushes at the thought of being physically affectionate with you for the first time, but when he sees your desperate look, he realises just how much you've been craving his touch.

He'll hug you again without a second thought, which you happily return, and once he's gathered enough courage he'll draw you in for a shy but sweet kiss. His inexperience will make it awkward at first, but he'll eventually get the hang of it.

Oh no, he can feel his body getting hot. Chongyun desperately tries to suppress his stronger emotions, and he quickly breaks the kiss before he loses control completely, panting. You worriedly ask him if he's okay, and he replies that he's fine. However, he can't seem to forget about the addicting feeling of your lips on his, and he suddenly pushes you up against the nearest wall.

"Ah... For some reason, I want to kiss you more..." he whispers, and when you notice his flushed cheeks and half-lidded eyes, you know that he's lost it.

everytime when he touches you you’d get really blushy and flustered around him which makes him let out a small laugh whenever you’d hide your face into him or your hands

the touches he’d leave on you were so soft and fluttering , sometimes even a sudden gasp leaves your mouth as his fingers accidentally touched your neck whenever he plays with your hair

he took notice of this and smirks to himself , knowing what to do with what he’s discovered with you today

you guys were heading to wanmin restaurant along with chongyun to have lunch , sitting down beside xingqiu as he sits between you and chongyun . three of you made your orders and patiently wait for the food to arrive

what if you had a cuddle session with xiao where you run your hands through his scalp, just playing with his hair and he just MELTS into your touch because,, touch-starved xiao, right?

And,, what if you have prank wars with hutao? Where hutao pranks you and you prank her back and it turns out into an all-out prank wars,, but sometimes you both go as far as pranking zhongli and other wangsheng funeral parlor workers??? Or just anyone in general!!

Wind-gliding with venti would be fun too!! Imagine him just using his anemo powers to help you glide and have more fun!!

Alchemy with albedo would be calm but can turn out as chaos too if,, albedo somehow ends up mixing the wrong concoctions together and theres just BOOM, a big explosion.. hehe other times its just you playing around with bedo's hair and complimenting it because its SUPER FLUFFY

Babysitting klee is fun! But chaotic since you have to stop her from committing mass murder of fishes otherwise jean will put her in solitary confinement and her cheeky smile would just turn into a gloomy frown (this made me sad :()

Helping ganyu relax and telling her to stop overworking herself which ends up with you both going out to pick some flowers

Having a stroll through the harbour with zhongli while having your hands intertwined and you guys have a lovely chit-chat and go out to eat at wanmin restaurant... but,, he forgot about his wallet and you end up having to pay for the bill, but fear not!! He will always apologize which ends up into a cuddle session at home

Playing with diluc's hair!! Bring clips, hair ties or any accessories you deem fit to put on his hair!! Braid it, tie it, make a bun or just running your fingers through his hair will be enough to relax his tensed-up muscles :) but only behind closed doors, otherwise this man would be very shy

Family dinner with childe? :0 i can imagine him inviting you to dinner with his family.. maybe since you guys were childhood friends you eventually start to grow feelings for him and start to act more shy around him to which, childe quickly caught on with how you act differently than how you used to, but then he realizes he maybe likes you too and starts to tease, flirt & spend more time with you!! But due to his work as a fatui, he now has less time to spend with you and will mostly try to clear up his schedule just to spend some time with his childhood-bestfriend-now-s/o and invites you to have dinner with his family. And maybe after dinner, you both spend some time with his siblings, more-so, teucer because yeah. It's teucer, how can you decline spending some time with that cute little face he has aww,,

Buying chongyun a popsicle, how nice of you eh?? I'd imagine he'd kinda?? Wanna share the iced treat with you?? Probably not because he loves them more than you. Im sorry, but its the truth. (Jkjk im sorry KDKSMQ)

Reading books with xingqiu!! Whooo boy, you're in for a ride because THIS MAN can and WILL read a shit ton of story books for you if you request him to do so, but other times when you dont and he starts rambling on about how good this or those books are, he would frequently apologize but will smile & continue when you say "its alright, you can continue"

Now, kazuha (this is just how i imagine he would be like!!) When he returns from his sails, he'll make sure to always ask you if you've eaten/drank water, will always apologize for taking so long to return and will compliment you every👏single👏day👏 he's just a gentlemen, okay? And at times he'd often take you flower picking in which you then make a flower crown for him and you'd be able to see a faint blush on his cheeks when you put the crown on his head and compliment him!

Touch starved Gaming who just kinda lays down around people in hopes of them hugging him and gets tingles on his skin at even the slightest brush.

Him seeing Xingqiu reading in the grass and bounding up to him with his normal smile. Gaming greets him as usual, but with a lil bit of nervousness, sitting next to him and resting his head on his shoulder. He gets a pat to the head and nothing more as the latter continues thumbing through book pages.

Gaming audibly whines a bit in disappointment, not realizing that he had done it. Xingqiu hears it, and freezes, pondering for a second. He exhales fondly and shakes his head with a smile, putting his book down and sitting upright on his knees. He wastes no time wrapping Gaming in a tight and secure hug. The other sighs heavily and melts into it, Xingqiu rubbing his back softly.

“You just wanted someone to hold you…am I wrong?”

UGHHH THEYRE SO xingqiu can be soft at times and when he is he's Very soft. it's not often but when his friends r feeling bad or something he will immediately switch into that mode

Hasn't put much thought into it, really. He's pretty young, and that's something he doesn't really think will happen for a long time yet.

He's got a few too many plans for the future, but things can change.

S nuggle

How cuddly are they? DO THEY LIKE TO S N U G G L E?

He keeps to himself quite a lot in public, so you can expect to not have much going on then. But when it’s just you two, he’s much cuddlier.

He’s often the one to initiate because he Will Let You Know when he wants a cuddle. But when you want one, it’s always a bit too entertaining watching you try to ask him while not getting embarrassed.

He likes to put his head on your shoulder and just close his eyes sometimes. If you don’t move, he might fall asleep and you can score yourself a sleeping Xingqiu on your shoulder. When he does fall asleep on you, you always do an internal victory dance.

T ouchstarved

Are they at all touch starved? How do they react to contact?

He’s not quite the type to consider himself very touch-starved, but there might be some element of it there.

He can unintentionally get a bit lonely by having niche interests and becoming so absorbed in the things he reads. He could go for a long time just sitting on his own, reading and reading. But that can accidentally build up a feeling of loneliness.

With you, things changed a bit because the two of you could just sit together and do your own things, just enjoying each other’s presence.

At first, he’d probably become a bit awkward at contact, like getting a little red and stuttering, but once he was more relaxed, expect to get teased a lot. (Do it back occasionally, he still gets nervous sometimes)
