Recently I reflected on why I am such a hardcore Pokeshipper and didn't fall into amourshipping.

Honestly, I like XY and I like Serena. She is a nice character and her feelings are relatable in many ways. It doesn't even bother me that she got Ash's first real kiss. Not everyone's first kiss is with their soulmate/future person. Did Ash like her back? I don't know. He let her leave without saying anything to her. Then he went home and there were baby's breath flowers on screen as he returned home? People say that baby's breath flowers mean everlasting love so that means he has everlasting love for Serena? After one series? After one kiss? No. There are dozens of flowers that mean everlasting love/romantic love. There are also other flowers that mean 'innocence' as the writers claim it meant. The writers did not have to choose baby's breath which is synonymous with Misty's Japanese name, Kasumi, but they did! They know how to work symbolism. It was deliberate.

Now you can call it character development or whatever, but Ash became the experienced trainer when Misty left which watered down some of his rougher character flaws that made him interesting. Hoenn Ash and onward was smoothed around the edges. He was flawed yet by the end of each episode he was the perfect hero again. Serena "fell in love" with this new ideal Ash while Misty fell for his raw, original portrayal. To me this made pokeshipping feel real for both characters. There is also the little fact that Misty is the only person of whom he was ever outwardly jealous. So when Misty came back in Seaside Battle it was fascinating to see him revert back to OS Ash who automatically regained his personality around her. He was annoying, smug, and cocky, but that's alright because Misty was hot headed and loud right back. AND PIKACHU. I believe Pikachu represents Ash's true feelings. Pikachu sees through Ash's facade and straight up disobeys for his love of Pikachupi. There was no choice to be made. Misty belongs with them and Pikachu knows it.

I think the biggest sway though is just how similar the two characters are because opposites may attract, but similarities are the foundations of a successful relationship. All of the screenshots of them making the same damn faces and gestures in Seaside Battle are unbearably adorable. You also better believe that Ash and Misty would be the kind of couple that would settle matters with a battle. Who's going shopping? Battle. Who takes out the trash? Battle. Who feeds the Pokemon? Battle. Whoever first said that Pokemon battling is their love language isn't wrong.

After Seaside Battle, I just can't see a future where Ash and Misty aren't together.

And now I need to channel this Pokeshipping excitement into my fanfics.

So here's some exposition and worldbuilding for Pixel City.

Took a while, but I made this!! info below the cut

The inkling girl in the first panel is Carlotta Marisa Ikaraggi, and she's a prodigal sign interpreter for the Squid sisters. And her surname sounds like Ikarrage, or "fried squid" in Japanese, which is what Calamari is. She's from splatsville and her parents come from Cephaloflorence, Inktaly.

The gal next to her is from the Hoenn region. She's an ace trainer named Kasumi Dominica Hamasaki-Brooks. She's deaf in one ear and wants to be a water type gym leader.

Also in the first panel is the Sniper from Team Fortress 2. After finding out he NEVER buys his own shirts, I figured he'd be the kind of person to only enter a contest or competition if the grand prize is a free T-shirt. So yeah, with the transferable skills, Mr. Mundy became the Bee photography champ of 1964. Also he's wondering how Waddle Doo is listening to music.

Knuckles is autistic in my HC, and while he (much like Eggman) is a feminist, he doesn't like to read long paragraphs. So I decided he would read a book of Alison Bedschel Cartoons.

In the second panel, we see two sims characters, one of which is an oc. Hali'a el-Ghani is Hawaiian/Senegalese, and likes floral hijabs. To her right is Savannah Price, but I decided to give her a better looking hairstyle (namely box braids in a ponytail with some edges).

Also Mario and Luigi and Bob the Cat.

The mannequins are of Princess Dragonfruit (my idea of what Wa-Peach is like, somewhat like Bowsette, and she's cringefail villain with a Dr.Doofenshmirtz level of incompetence and her girlfriend is Princess Chammomile, who's pretty much WaDaisy and she sleeps often and has a mellow but lazy stoner-ish vibe) and some random guy.

The next panel shows a club of some sort. Rouge the bat wants to play a game of Chaosvolley with Undyne.

I decided that rouge the bat WOULD wear the jewelry she steals, and frequently lies about where she got it. Also I can't draw anyone playing pool to save my life. So I made up a dangerous "Party sport" instead.

The shirt Undyne is wearing is based off of a hat from @shirtsthatgohard

Bronto Burt is in the corner dancing.

The sonic character in the BG is an oc named Guava the Fennec. She's a green fox with pink eyes and likes fruit smoothies

The foreground shows a Hylian named Shimea who's family runs a tea house inn oot castle town. The Toad next to her is Enokiko Toad, a reserved and intelligent gal who's also quite blunt and also very autistic.

Note that none of the characters on this page who wear school uniforms wear the exact same uniform. That's because Principal Isabelle Shizue (yes from animal crossing) forgot to have a uniform made for Lawson High (named after Jerry Lawson, who pretty much invented the video game console) so Isabelle just put (wear a school uniform.

In reality, it's because I have ADHD and I don't want to draw the same uniform multiple times.

Here they are!

Meet Kasumi, Chek, and Howl! a weird trio that work for Kokichi.

For a basic explanation:

Kasumi: Was an Ultimate Support Animal Trainer who became the mastermind of season ##, her role of a mastermind was heavily criticized for being a retcon(it was a retcon). Her game took place on a hijacked cruise so her execution consisted of her drowning when the ship goes under.

Howl: Wildcard Fuckboy, His sin was literally SA. When he sold his soul to Kokichi, the deal forced him to be celibate. Died when he was in his late 30's.

Chek: Was a coward in life and is now a coward in death. They died from their survival shelter collapsing on them during Covid. They constantly gets into trouble somehow and nearly permanently dies on a monthly basis. Died in their early 40's. Also they got their name from chicken lol.

I love them all, admittedly howls terrible, but his punishment is so funny i can overlook it mostly

those are just general Hc, they fluctuate between au's where I have Ash and Raihan together. the kids will be under the cut.

Oldest are fraternal twins; Cadenza Kasumi Alexander-Ketchum and Lunala “Luna” Takashi Alexander-Ketchum 

Cadenza is five minutes older than Luna and takes more of Ash’s personality and height wise, even though she’s three inches taller than her Papa. She isn’t Pokemon battle inclined like her Athair (Father in Scottish Gaelic) and Papa. She’s more artistic than book smart like her sister. Later on in life she makes a seperate much smaller business to the way bigger one her Grandmama, Raihan’s mother Celeste, she makes formal clothing and has commissions open for other kinds as well. She’s very good at making affordable dresses of all kinds that have pockets and a lot of women's suits that fit better than the ones already out there. Even though Cadenza takes after Ash height and emotion wise, she really does physically take after Raihan and Celeste. She has long curly hair that is ombré from yellow to a deep bright red at the bottom. Her eyes are just as blue as Raihan’s and her Grandmama Celeste. Her skin is a bit lighter then both of theirs but much darker still to Ash’s and Luna’s much paler tone. 

Luna follows her Grandmama’s foot prints and is now being mentored to take over the multi billion trainer wear/Pokémon necessity company that’s even bigger than Devon Corporation. She’s the logical, book smart, edgier, shark tooth side of the coin to Cadenza’s Sun rays, sweet tooth, artistic side. Luna is extremely smart and both Raihan and Ash struggled a bit to find the right course of school to put her through that would keep her focused and entertained while also keeping her on track and not let Luna consume it all in one sitting like she wants to. She’s absolutely perfect for the role of CEO of the company. It gets handed down to her when she reaches twenty three and she is recorded as the youngest CEO in the world. She has fluffy black hair like her Papa’s that is cut just a little below her ears. She’s two inches shorter than her Athair and is just as skinny as he is. Her eyes are the same whiskey brown as her Sobo’s (Grandmother is Japanese) and Ash’s. She’s a bit paler then Ash like when he first started out traveling in Kanto and she can not get a tan for the life of her, unlike her sister who tan’s pretty easily. 

It was actually Raihan who pushed for Misty and Brock’s Kantonian name’s to be their girls' middle names. Ash had actually wanted to propose the same idea earlier but was too afraid Raihan wouldn’t like the idea. When both girls were born, and after Raihan, Delia, and Celeste were able to hold the twins, Misty and Brock were able to hold them. Both definitely cried.

The girls are about four years old when Ash brings in a batch of triplet boys; Dace Celeste Alexander-Ketchum, Dimitri Kukui Alexander-Ketchum, and Dante Hanako Alexander-Ketchum. Raihan and Ash didn’t mean to name their boys all with names starting with ‘D’s… it just kinda happened. 

Dace grows up more Pokemon oriented than his sister’s and fellow brothers. Much more like Ash was at the beginning of his journey and his personality leans more towards the soft yet very strong type of person. After his third Pokemon journey he goes through Unova and defeats Champion Trip soundlessly and takes the man's place as the new Unova Champion. He’s very kind like Alder was, but a lot more attentive then both past Champions were. He now has to constantly deal with Iris trying to challenge him every time they meet though since “She was supposed to be Unova’s new Champion!” He and the rest of his siblings have brown hair like their Sobo and not as tight of curls like Cadenza, Athair, and Grandmama have. It’s more loosely curled and almost just as fluffy as their Papa’s. His eyes are just like Luna, Papa, and Sobo have, though there are big flecks of bright blue throughout his eyes. It’s kinda hard on Dace because he’s blue-yellow color blind, but his Pokémon helps him and so does his family who’s extra supportive of him. 

Dimitri is more books and study base like Raihan kinda is. Explores more in the hidden scriptures, scrolls, and learning about dead languages. He and Raihan bond over poetry and Galar’s old myths, Dimitri bonds with Ash by going through his Papa’s much more friendly memories with Legendaires in the world. He becomes a world renowned architecture, researcher, and digger. Dimitri was also mentored under Roark and Byron for three years and a half before finding a whole lost city in Sinnoh that was just barely mentioned in some very, very old scriptures he and everyone else couldn’t really make out. The city was all built in a very large cave that was bigger than the Lumiose tower. Dimitri’s personality swings more towards Raihan easy going attitude but he also picks up a strict nature from both his Grandmama and big sister Luna since Dimitri had wanted to hang around Luna and Grandmama at any moment he can when Papa wasn’t off traveling for his two Champion titles and Raihan wasn’t teaching Gloria (the female MC of SwSh) into taking over his gym. The only difference physically is that Dimitri has bright green eyes like his Grandfather Rose. Mew has also actually taken a liking to Dimitri since the boy is so far the most respectful digger/researcher there is in the world so far. 

Dante grows into the love of cooking and baking. He ended up becoming one of the top culinary chef’s in the world and was personally taught by Brock, Cilan, Mallow, and his Sobo Delia before she passed away from old age. He starts up a few different kinds of cooking shows and is also kinda like the Gordon Ramsay for the Pokémon world. He’s brash with older adults and very sweet and understanding with young trainers and young kids. He loves his parents a lot and Dante’s favorite memory was his Papa showing all kinds of holiday recipes to Dante when he was a young boy and all his siblings and Athair were in the living room watching Tv or doing something else. He has more blue then brown in his eyes then Dace and he takes pride in what he’s accomplished in life so far.

Does Emmet and Jamals cat have a name? If it's Emmets first pet (got before Stacey) then I could see him just calling it Cat or Kitty since almost all Pokémon are referred to by species and only realise afterwards that most people name their pets.

Emmet technically never owns a cat. Sure, he encounters a lot of cats, maybe even tries to sneak one or two into Jamal’s apartment, and much later on he fosters a mother cat and her litter (Mama Lulu and her Beans: Garbanzo, Pinto, Adzuki, Cocoa, Cannellini, and Mung), but he doesn’t take ownership of one. Not that he doesn’t want to, but his circumstances don’t allow for it.

Which he’s fine with! He has access to other cats all over the place. This includes Kasumi and Mizumi, who belong to Frank and Nancy’s daughter. Said daughter often drops the cats off at their house when she has to go out of town, much to Emmet’s joy.

Similarly, Jamal would love to have a cat if his lease didn’t forbid it. But in the end, he decides he’ll just sign a new lease with a pet friendly apartment instead. He winds up being the one to adopt Lulu after Emmet leaves and her babies find their forever homes.

As far as names go, I think Emmet recognizes pretty quickly that all pet animals have given names since not many people just shout the pet’s species when they run off. If anything, it just makes him wonder if he’s a bad trainer for not naming his Pokémon.

Shigeru in the very first episode refers to Satoshi with the honorific -san and then later changes to -kun. Likely remembering Satoshi prefers the one more associated with men (and sato looks specially happy when he does it, fight me)

Hikari hates the Pikari nickname because SHE HAD JUST CHOSEN HER NAME and everyone then made fun of it!

Both the above work in dub too, so it's double canon

Satoshi gets binders from Team Rocket every year! They all have a red "R" stitched on somewhere (kojirou is the one who does it)

Pokemon centers provide hormone medications for any trainer in their journey who might need it

Kasumi/Misty is also a trans girl and that's why she's so settled on proving everyone she IS the prettiest of the Cerulean sisters

The game may not have come out yet but consider: scarlet and violet tera power au where when the trainer uses tera powers they also gain Cool Crystal Hat. Use them frequently, parts of ur body/hair will turn to crystal while ur using them. Use em more, larger and larger sections of your body turn to crystal. Misuse them, when ur pokemon de-crystals it takes you a bit longer to turn back. Keep at it and eventually you just stay a crystal.

It's not much of an au yet but i think it's a fun idea and i wanna play with it, and really encourage others to do the same!! I'm a big fan of lowkey body horror au stuff, and none of the pokemon gimmicks have suited this sort of thing better than tera powers imo! if anyone else wants to make stuff for this kind of au PlEASE do and PLEASE show me (and if someone else has alrady dont this fuck yeah i wanna see also same braincell)

The Phantom Thieves relationship with Izuku (how I think it would be if he was a part of this group):

Ren/Akira-Probably the closest relationship with Ren being like an older brother to Izuku. Because of Ren's ability to connect with various people throughout the game, both in his own group and with others like a politician, he and Izuku would have a strong bond with Ren laying the groundwork for Izuku to become stronger, more confident in himself, and more importantly, understanding that he is not worthless and is a hero, even if he was Quirkless.

Ryuji-A total bro who would not be afraid to speak his mind about how Izuku was treated horribly in his life. And he certainly won't stand by and let Bakugo talk down to Izuku (and he isn't afraid to throw hands for his friends).

Ann-I can see her being a good friend and someone who Izuku admires for being so extroverted and not afraid to break societal norms in regards to wearing something unique with her school uniform. Like Ryuji, she ain't gonna sit by and let Izuku get bullied by Bakugo (meaning unlike Class 1-A, she and the rest of the PT won't be blind).

Morgana-Morgana would have absolute faith in Izuku's abilities, complimenting him like he does for Joker (even saying that Izuku has leadership skills and could be a good leader if he had the confidence).

Yusuke-Yusuke's a weird case due to how...eccentric he is about his art but he definitely would bond with Izuku and would help him when he is having self-doubt.

Makoto-I think these two would have a close relationship with Makoto admiring how smart and resourceful Izuku is and the two being the group's strategists. (I did read a Fanfiction story that shows a cute relationship between them but unfortunately, that Fanfiction had Bakugo become a Phantom Thief which just ruined the whole story).

Futaba-These two definitely would have a close relationship and even relate to each other with how they were treated in life. And they both would absolutely bond over being total weebs.

Haru-She'd act as a protective older sister who's just the sweetest and will always try to encourage Izuku, helping him with his confidence issues.

Kasumi-A cute friendship with Kasumi also wanting to help Izuku with his confidence issues (and with Izuku subtly helping with hers) and having her be his trainer in acrobatics.

I had to say this because one of your previous posts mentioned how the Straw Hat Pirates and Phantom Thieves would be better friends to Izuku than Class 1-A and as I had played through almost all of Persona 5, I absolutely agree. The PTs wouldn't ignore the obvious problems Izuku had and actually try to help him, won't exclude him or make him feel inferior, will actually try to build up his confidence and trust in them, and most importantly, they will not have any crap from Bakugo.

There’s a late night train that runs through “The Core” of Kanto. He was already on it with a commuters ticket when his Gear started ringing. The ticket taker asked him where his parents were, turning towards the sound, and he looked away. It’s enough of an answer to his question. He was one of three other passengers, and the only kid.

Kasumi’s voice came through the gear that he held to his ear. He could hear the sound of rain against glass. Was she calling from a booth?

“I know you’re probably busy- brand new Champion and all-” by a day. It hadn’t even been more than that. A single day.

“But something happened. I know you two don’t get along-” she said. She could hear the roll of the train tracks, “Something happened to the Champion Green.”

What?

What happened?

“He’s in Cerulean. In the hospital. Sorry I have to go. Goodbye.”

Dial tone. Pikachu looked at him over his shoulder, and he lowered the gear from his face, thumb on its scan dial. His head conjured the worst possible scenarios as he twisted to look at their stop list on the marquee behind him. The train’s lights flickered. He could detour. His ticket was good for the next two days. All he had to do was hop on somewhere else. 

And despite everything, even if Green didn’t want to see him... What if...?

So, he waits another hour on the train, and bypasses the stop at Viridian, to ride the entire way to Cerulean. The train doors opened into heavy, unforgiving rain, and Pikachu sparked on his shoulder, both of them swallowing down the anxiety that was leaving Red’s hands shaking. 

Red bolted though the rain, pulling his cap down to shade his eyes, Pikachu more than happy to be soaked as his trainer stomped through puddles with holes in his shoes.

He hadn’t gotten new clothing in a while. His face was still cut up from their battle, and his knees were shredded.

The hospital complex was three buildings, and it took another hour to type a message into his gear and show every possible person behind a desk with increasing shakiness. 

Looking for Ohkido Green. Friend. He’s here?

A surgeon who had been nearby the third person he had shown the gear screen with was headed out of the hospital for the night, and offered to walk him to the building Green was in through the rain. He asked if Red would be okay, standing in the lobby of the patient ward, dripping on their carpet, and Red nodded. 

There were more hoops to jump through, and by the time he got to the door of the hospital room, occupied by a single patient? His hands were trembling. 

He was tired in a way that he couldn’t possibly explain in words. Pikachu had been bunching himself further and further into Red’s neck for comfort. 

Opening the door wasn’t comforting. Three people turned to him. Three familiar faces, and he felt himself wither. Dr. Ohkido, Daisy, Green. It hadn’t been twenty four hours since he’d seen Green bolt from the Plateau, tears in his eyes and his grandfather’s words ringing in both of their ears.

Green looked terrible. He was bandaged everywhere and tucked into a sterile bed, sliced in all sorts of places, and there was the very distinct smell of burn gel in the room. 

What happened?!

Red must have looked like a nightmare, the way both Daisy and the Professor rose to try and intercept him with, ‘Are you alright?!’

No!

He stepped past them, wordless, to stare down at Green, wide eyed. Pikachu even interjected.

“Pika...” Oh no.

❛ they were the first two gym leaders i ever met, but, meeting & traveling with kasumi & takeshi built the foundation for who i am today ; they taught me a lot about the practical side of being a battler, & they coached me through a lot of my first league season. dent, one of sanyou's gym leaders, helped expand my understanding about the connections between pokémon & trainer. citron's gym was the first i intended to challenge in kalos, but he wanted to battle a certain level of trainer, so we wound up traveling for a while 'till i got the right amount of badges, & he often kept me grounded. ah, corni was another kalosian gym leader that's been a big impact on me ; it's from her & her grandfather that me & lucario got our key stone & lucarionite !! ❜

❛ the ones i've most enjoyed battling, though ... i feel a little bad that i don't really gotta think too hard, but, it's gotta be kasumi & citron, without a doubt. ❜ & if satoshi's heart picks up a little at the thoughts of the water & electric type specialists, & not simply in memory of battles fought, well ... no one's gonna know, now, are they ??
