Heya! Would you be willing to write headcanons for a fem vampire demon who’s tasked with being a security guard for the hotel for Charlie? I don’t really mind who all the headcanons are like, for? But I hope this seems like a fun ask and that it isn’t confusing or complicated!
Tumblr media
OH MY GOD I LOVE THIS SM, the headcanons are just for the main hotel residents hope that’s okay!!
Alastor: he is a bit, at first offended, I mean he is the one who is protecting the hotel is he not? Oh but then, then he finds out you’re a vampire, someone who also has a taste for blood? Why didn’t you say so!! He’d be so happy and feel like he could finally sit down and have a good meal with you!
Angel: He thinks it’s a good idea to get more fire power, I mean Al is good an all, but he always leaves to go do other things, so having 24/7 help? Amazing! He’d offer you a drink, and really wanna be your friend, when he finds out your a vamp, he just asks if you like red wine better, and would 100% ask you if you have a favorite blood type.
Husk: he’s honestly indifferent. Cool, new security I guess, same with the whole vampire thing. He will ask, if you need anything special or specific to drink so you don’t go hungry.
Charlie: ah the one who hired you! She thought it would be swell to have a new member of the team! She asks if maybe it’s possible for you to use blood substitutes, but when you tell her no since ya know you need it to stay alive, she understands and doesn’t bring it up further
Nifty: Oh wow!! ANOTHER GIRL!!! she’d giggle and try and climb you, she’ll also ask you to help her with the bugs, when she finds out your a vampire, she thinks it cool, and asks if you bite people too.
Vaggie: she was told before you started that you were a vampire, she wasn’t rude just kinda kept her distance, she warmed up to you when she saw you fight, you train together sometimes now!
Sir pentious: as soon as he sees you, he salutes due to thinking you’re a soldier, and wanting to show you respect, he asks if you want to duel and when you do you kick his ass, he’s a little butt hurt about it but otherwise, he thinks you’re perfectly fine once he finds out your vampire, he thinks that’s super interesting and tries to ask you about it!
Hope this is okay! Enjoy the heacanons!

Boy and Door: You are NOT the Faeder
As always, spoilers for Hunter: The Parenting
Alright friends, this one I'm kinda shaky on and there's not much here at present, but I want to get my thoughts down.
TL;DR Door is not Boy's biological dad, and this might be a very important plot point.
As is my pattern, let's examine their TTS origins: Door was Rogal Dorn, primarch of the imperial fists, praetorian of terra, and Lord Adorable. Boy was a vox hailer serf with notoriously strong legs, and eventually the respect of some members of the adeptus custodes. Dorn became a father figure for Boy over the course of his appearance, mostly keeping him from being bullied by the custodes or Magnus. Also boy might have had latent psyker powers, we will return to this. As a side note: SuperAnchors and Nostalgia, the voices of Door/Dorn and Boy/Boy respectively are perhaps my favourite performances on TTS and H:TP. They are always a joy when they're on screen and I really appreciate their characters in both series. SuperAnchors gets a special mention for practically reshaping the perception of Rogal Dorn in the fanbase, and Nostalgia should be appreciated for turning a character litterally named "Boy" into one of the best characters in either series. Tts rant time done.
So. Boy. And Door. Look at these silly fellas, are you really going to tell me that Boy shares genetic heritage with Door? And where is his mother? I believe Door is not Boy's biological dad, and instead adopted him and has been raising him as his own. I think this is so easily accepted and never mentioned because I am honestly not convinced that Door and Markus are Big D's biological children either. I think their family is just super open to adopting anyone and everyone who comes along, and so Boy being adopted just means he's the youngest family member, no questions or qualms.
Now, this is where my REAL theory starts, and where my research into WoD kinda halted me a little bit. You see, in folklore a changeling is a child swapped with member of the fae in EARLY life. In the original WoD, changelings are... weirder... than that. I'm not sure. So I'm not a hundred percent on this one. But I think Boy is a folkloric changeling, a fae being in place of a child. I don't think Boy knows this fact, and frankly I don't think he would be able to access anything supernatural until recently. Recently being when he started experiencing "puberty disease" as listed in one cutaway card. That same cutaway card mentions it being "cured with meat". Now the fae have ofttimes been portrayed as dainty and nature loving and very "surface level fantasy" elf like. Reading about WoD fae made my head hurt so I don't know if that applies here, but MAYBE boy was starting to manifest his fae side, and eating a stable meat only (read: anti elf) diet staved it off for a time. I think those powers are now bubbling back up, despite the continued meat consumption.
I think H:TP is building up the awakening of many powers, when I get around to explaining the things we all know about Markus this will be relevant. But for Boy I think he is awakening some future telling fae abilities. I think Boy is keeping some of his hinted at seer powers from TTS, just in a different context. In the first arc we see a couple of hints to this: first episode Boy spots Pyotr while he's invisible (and you can too if you look very closely for his eyes), Boy doesn't know he has cool powers so he doesn't recognize fully his feat. But spotting an obscured vamp who can disappear even on camera is pretty above human. Next there is the final confrontation against Pyotr, some day I may type a long diatribe on why that scene in particular is great but not today. Boy manages to hit a shot on a target moving parallel to his position going LUDICROUS speed. I think he may have done this thanks to a lil bit of precognition. And finally there is the meeting with Horse.
Horse and what he IS will get another post one day, but for now let's talk a little about the vision. I think it's not coincidence that Horse calls Boy "oracle" and speaks of prophecy to him. I also don't think it coincidence that Boy sees shapes in the blood. I think Boy is a seer, and certain forms of divination uses blood and gore to make predictions (see Haruspex). Again, I will cover Horse's prophecy another time, but let's talk about the "Faeder" line. I don't think that word was chosen just cause it sounds olde. I think it's a hint and misdirection. Again, I suspect boy was not born into this family, but instead is a product of the faeries. This would mean he has a faerie father, or a fae father, or a faeder. I think Horse was telling Boy that his TRUE father will die. Buuuuuut WoD changelings are weird and Alfabusa has written important foreshadowing WAY too early before (Hello TTS Ghazkhull!), so I'm not sure. I will say to bolster this idea that it was weird for Horse to mention "milklings", another name for changelings, on the same level as other WoD big players. I think this was also a tip off to us the audience about our beloved family, aside from kindred I believe each group mentioned is represented in that role call.
Door. Door is simple, strong, and the only actual normal human hunter in the family (see my kitten theory, Markus and Big D theories pending). Based on the episode titles, and the show title itself, I think the "hunter" in question is Door, and "the parenting", refers to his relationship with Boy. Boy seems to be the writer of the episode titles (on the actual title cards) in arc 1. I hope we see Boy grow under Door's guidance, because I love these characters. And I really hope I'm right that Boy has a fae dad who will take the bullet of prophecy so we don't have to see Door desiccated on the rocks.
Let me know what you think, til next time
Good evening

Vamp Lord's issues with consent are so obvious here. It's about being a spawn obviously but it would definitely apply to other things too. And the threat at the end. He's turning Tav regardless, the breakup means nothing. He may pretend he's letting them go, but he's absolutely not.
Denying ascended Astarion something is dangerous territory. He insists that he has everything he could ever want-- but he's lying. Poorly. He loved Tav. That love did not just disappear when they left him. It did not disappear when he turned.
He claims to have everything, except the one thing he truly wanted. And if for absolutely no other reason, he is obsessed with power and control. He will not be able to abide that for long. He won't. His new nature will not abide it.
Right now, he is angry. Just pure seething venom angry and lashing out. Things are just settling down. He is going to have free time soon-- an eternity of it. Soon, he will have time to think. And he will realize that Tav escaping is the largest insult to his power possible. It is an insult to who he is-- who he claims to be.
He cannot abide it.
He will say it is because it is an insult. Because he is teaching an object lesson. Because he must make a point to all who might dare to defy him. That is not why. It is because nothing in this cesspit of a world he plans to conquer will fill the hole that was left in their absence. The obsession will consume him. Thinking of what could have been. How life could have been had they stayed at his side. Wondering why the left, utterly flaying his brain to try and understand why, why why--
Tav walked away from him. Tav delivered the world in his palm, made him the most powerful creature to walk the realms, and then Tav walked away from him. Tav walked away when he was perfected. He doesn't understand. He can't. He was planning on eternity, and Tav violently ripped that dream from him. He will spend eternity alone, with no one by his side. No equal. No love.
The one thing he wants denied, and there isn't a damn thing he can do about it.
Right?
That's what he will have them believe. That he will respect that decision. But he won't. I can promise you that.
He plays it cool when you leave him. Huffs a haughty "fine" and drops it. Maintaining the balance was very important then. There were more pressing matters. No world to conquer if they didn't stick together to defeat that wretched little brain. Then he pretends to respect that decision, even telling you so. He is going through the stages of grief-- except acceptance is no longer a natural part of that cycle.
One day, he is going to decide that no, actually, you don't get to make that decision. He wants, and so he will take. No one can stop him. What use is power if he cannot even have the one thing he craves most? That would shatter his entire view.
So he will use that power, and with the same cruelty that ripped him from his life, he will wield swiftly against Tav. They do not get a choice. They get a master and a will to obey.
He says Tav will regret it, and he means it. But not in the way one might think. He will make them regret not choosing his side willingly. Not nurturing his love and trust. They will be at his side regardless. That is the only option. They will not even be able to die to escape him.
They should have stayed. They will regret not staying. Everything that happens from here on out is their fault.

WWDITS INSP - A Day in the Life of a Familiar
Guillermo: The job of a vampire's familiar is not an easy one. It's very dangerous--I mean, they are vampires, after all. There's different kinds of jobs that I have to do. Keep the house tidy…. Make sure there's no sunlight. "Sunlight, why Guillermo, whyyyyyy!?" Not on my watch. Getting rid of carcasses, I feel, is a big one. Being a vampire's familiar is like being a best friend…. Who's also a slave. I like being a familiar! It's a very satisfying job. Well--actually, calling it a "job" would imply that it pays. So it's more of a vocation. Less glamorous than I imagined. I thought by now I'd be like Armand, but sometimes I feel like I'm halfway turning into a Renfield. I think the worst part for me is the loneliness. I'm awake when my master's asleep, and…the house gets quiet, and it's lonely. But I'm also awake when he's awake. I'm always awake! You know, sometimes I wonder what my life would be like if I was still at Panera Bread. I'd probably be manager. I'd get to boss other people around for a change. Sleeping, health insurance, friends, getting paid, all the Panera Bread you can eat. But you know what they say: The heart wants what the heart wants!

MY THOUGHTS (rant alert) & CC Credits (under the cut)
MY THOUGHTS
I'd rather be a werewolf!
Tumblr media
I thought Guillermo was a freaking FOOL, slaving away for 13 years (with NO PAY 💀) hoping Nandor would someday turn him into a vampire. Like...HUH?! Memo, you're wasting your life! You know allllll these dope werewolves who would readily take you in--you're barking up the wrong tree obsessing over vamps all day, my guy!
Tumblr media
Memo is an expert on vampires, yet he somehow missed the memo that vampires almost never turn their familiars! 🤨 I'd've given them the middle finger and joined a wolf pack, eff those vampires. 😅
Tumblr media
Ok, SURE, vampires are freaking cool--they're the coolest monsters by far. But being a vampire literally SUCKS! Dhampirs like Blade & Alucard have the best of both worlds, since they have all of a vampires' strengths, and none of their weaknesses--they still have all the fancy powers, but can also walk in sunlight, drink blood, and most importantly: eat regular food, bless!
Like, I remember watching Tokyo Ghoul, and bursting into tears when Kaneki-kun was desperately forcing himself to eat food, but his body kept rejecting it--that hurt me to my core. No junk food?! Just kill me.
Tumblr media
And if y'all know what went down with Guillermo in Season 5, it's even crazier, like omg, REALLY? U_U Could never be me.
CC Credits
- Memo's hair N76, basegame glasses (+ OEM sliders), basegame cardigan & shoes, SN EP pants
- Bloody apron outfit by EA (AMB EP IIRC), gloves ACC by Amethyst
- Chainsaw from AMB sculpting station (+ gratuitous abuse of MOO)

Every scene with Peggy in CATFA is infuriating. But the two scenes that infuriate me the most are: Peggy shooting Steve over petty jealousy and Peggy being so damn rude to Bucky at the bar. The last one is especially infuriating because Bucky was being polite and courteous to Peggy, but she just totally ignored him and continued to oggle at Steve. Like WTF was that all about??? What did Bucky ever do to Peggy???
That second scene is interesting when you factor in the period, and the fact that they thought they were writing a heterosexual scene.
Because you've got Bucky, who's supposed to know all about romancing the dames, who sees a woman walk up to his friend in a bar. And just... stays where he is.
Bro etiquette -- now and then -- dictates he should be hustling across the room to give Steve some privacy. But he doesn't.
(And Steve doesn't seem at all bothered that he doesn't either, does he?)
There is no reason why Steve -- even if he is busy giving his usual Live Slug Reaction to being hit on, yet again, by a woman who can't take a hint -- cannot answer Peggy's clumsy overtures himself.
But he doesn't.
So Bucky steps in, and prevents her from making even more of a fool of herself (twinkling at a man who just gives 🙂), by filling in the conversational gap. Picking up the anvil-sized hints she's dropping since Steve apparently doesn't care to.
(Hitting on a woman who walks up in a vamp dress and a bar would be considered less gallant by today's standards, but by WWII standards? Bucky is being the sole gentleman here!)
So why does he do it?
Did they mean to imply, by casting Jenna Coleman, that brown-eyed-brunettes are Bucky's type? 😬 Eeesh. Doesn't really say much for why Steve would be interested in her then, does it?
(In fact, it's like he only enjoy's Peggy pass as a do-over of the Stark Expo Double Date, but now he gets to succeed with the 'Jenna Coleman' instead of Bucky. It's just another version of Endgame's Hero's Journey-style 'Woman As Prize' motif. 🙄)
Bucky stays where he is and shows an interest because the dudebro writers so transparently wanted Steve to get the Nerd's Revenge; a little wish-fulfillment power fantasy. The handsome popular friend with the great personality, getting punished for being more popular and handsome than the hero in high school, by striking out with The Girl while the hero succeeds.
But -- since they're incompetent and/or cannot control what CEvans chooses to do with his performance 😂 -- Steve is not at all bothered when Peggy leaves, makes no move to go after her, etc. 🤔
No move to 'go dancing' when he has the opportunity, just like he didn't make a move on the original Jenna Coleman character, either...
(Contrast that with: actually-interested Tony Stark who couldn't be prevented from going after Pepper Potts, when he saw her in a 'hero' dress at the party.)
And those idiot writers think this scene is Peggy proving she's a Cool Girl.
Because she, who alone knows the Real Steve, has remembered that Steve is secretly just a great big loser inside...
(Never mind that he's a globally famous film star, a decorated war hero, a superhuman and a heart throb, obviously he's still beneath such an important person as Peggy Carter, nepotism hire!)
...So she has come, in Gaston Red, to announce that she will Allow Steve to date Her!
(Her Royal Highness the Most Specialist- nay, Only Special Person in the Whole Multiverse!!)
And she widens her eyes at him as if to say what a lucky boy he is, what a treat for him!
Tumblr media
.
She is rude to Bucky, and won't look at him, because she is written by men who think a Strong Female Character means one who acts like a man.
In this case, it's a 'won't acknowledge the less-attractive female friend of the woman he's relentlessly targeting at the club' sort of a man. 🤡
Bucky's crime is being undateable and yet still in her presence. (Why can't he just have the common decency to not exist??)
No wonder Steve stayed with his bros! If he was a girl, he'd be a girl's girl. 😌

next time you get bored u should answer this ask to talk about your Eric and Morbius ^_^ i love Blade so much so i’m interested in what you have planned so far
hiiiiiiiiiii im procrastinating lol. anyway so you know how this is a hall of mirrors ass story and everybody parallels everybody? yea
sooo eric is the biggest and clearest foil to morgan bc they have.. so much in common. not quite a vampire. trying to atone for times they lost control and killed human people. badass vamp-killing machines. many such cases but the Differences are the funky bit bc on one hand morgan had a like. half-decent upbringing with parents and a house and everything, hes far from stable but the idea of emotional vulnerability isnt totally alien to him. Eric was a very lonely child in a terrible life-threatening situation who grew up into a very lonely adult in a slightly less terrible life-threatening situation.
to be clear eric does have people in his life! its just that theres only 2 of them. he got adopted by his cool butch biker mom whistler as a young teen and theyve been doing the vampire slaying thing ever since, and a few years ago they picked up a hematologist called karen jensen who fell into the "older sister" role. (okay yes like 80% of the blade-related plot was pulled straight from Blade (1998) but ignore that im doing some funky shit with it. okay.) she says shes an uninvolved civilian who provides medical aid since she owes eric a life debt, but this is a lie. shes In the shenanigans.
so like he does have his gay little found family but theres some shit they just dont Get yknow. so then once he does start trusting morgan they get. Very close . Very quickly. hes experiencing previously unknown types of human connection, including being gay in practice and not just in theory! and sure hes kinda avoidant and struggles to open up and express his feelings or establish boundaries but thats ok bc morgan is so anxious about rejection and abandonment that hes very willing to put in tons of work with being vulnerable! theyre meeting somewhere in the middle, they think! morgans only a little bit clingy and always suuuuper apologetic when he crosses those unclear boundaries! surely this is a healthy dynamic that wont collapse catastrophically due to communication problems!
anyway primary foil number 2: peter-man. as in superhero role model / the cooler super-powered role model. like pete always sees morbius as someone who needs to be helped and guided and saved and supported and first and foremost as his Responsibility. eric, at least at first, sees him as a Fucking Threat. to be understood and/or neutralized. and morgan really appreciates that! then eric learns to trust and respect him and they begin this totally-not-dysfunctional partnership of equals, its kinda cute if you ignore that its blatantly barreling towards destruction <3
edit i completely forgot the point of that last paragraph. eric respecting morgan like an equal makes him realize that actually, spider-guy is being kind of a cunt about this and why is he trying to prove himself to that loser anyway hes got a cool goth boyfriend now. he actually tries to earn peters respect by making him recognize him as dangerous which BACKFIRES BADLY lmao bc peter is trying to control morbius' sense of Hero Ethics just as much as hes trying to control who he punches and when, so seeing morgan get scary makes him double down on the "holy shit dont get evil" stuff. which also backfires badly. these dudes are all fucking trainwrecks

Finally decided to do a TVD rewatch now that the 'verse is complete. Since I know how everything ends I thought it would be interesting to see how I react with that knowledge. Curious if my feelings might change about characters, ships, storylines etc. (obviously I am fully aware there's going some bias).
Adding my thoughts after I complete the half-way mark of each season (there is simply too many episodes to do a recap of each one). I am talking to the void mostly here but feel free to leave comments, thoughts on my posts for those who still follow me or just find this post. However, I am not here to argue, I simply DO NOT CARE whatever you think is right totally, please leave me alone.
Recaps tagged with k rewatches tvd
S1 Episodes 1-11
I am loving the dark atmosphere of the first season, feeling so much nostalgia! Nice to go back in time to when vampires were scary on this show. That's not really criticism because every supernatural show goes through this. The big bad must always be upped as it goes on but it was nice when the stakes were lower and the mythos was being developed.
Damon makes me feel so uncomfortable so far... I know he was the 'villian' for most of the beginning of the season but his treatment of Vicki and Caroline is just so predatory and gross. Which brings me to...
WHY HAS NO ONE GIVEN CAROLINE A GOD DAMN VERVAIN NECKLACE ALREADY!!! Stefan and Elena both know Damon was using her (and they know damn well he hasn't stopped). Her Mom has the vervain to give her and just has not for no reason!! GET AWAY FROM HER ALREADY! I got so mad when Damon was compelling her AGAIN in the 10th episode. I'm so glad she outlives them all, justice for my baby!
I'm sorry but Stefan is so creepy and self-righteous in the beginning, I remembered this but did not remember how bad it was. Also he did not need to kill Vicki, that pissed me off. I don't think it did as much when I first watch this (mind you that was literally 14+ years ago) but just knowing how freely everyone neck-snaps around here it was bullshit. His one cool moment remains when he told Logan he can't walk in the sun. The manipulative way he used Elena’s adoption to get her to forgive him had me rolling my eyes (then of course she used it against Jenna to get out of trouble lol).
I can't remember who the other vampire is who turned Logan, I'm thinking its Pearl's henchman but yeah I don't remember that part. I also didn't remember the crystal so I like that some of this is like a 'mystery' again.
I did remember that I thought Tyler was such a dick in the first season and yeah confirmed. Though now I remembered his Dad was an abusive piece of shit. Still, fuck Tyler for now.
Alaric looks so different I don't hate him (yet).
I still hate Matt #bias
The progression of Bonnie realizing her powers has been well done, again nice to just see the simple magic again. (Stefan totally wanted to bang Sheila back in the day... maybe they did)
Jeremy just met Anna and I still love them, I wish they got more time. They were the only 'ship I like in this season when it first aired.
The Bonnie, Elena and Caroline friendship is nice but I am annoyed they haven't done more to protect Caro from Damon. Especially when she doesn't know what's going on and they do (though Bonnie only just got all the deets). This might be magnified by my love of Caroline I admit but I hate the prop-y way she's being used so far.
I kinda rolled my eyes at the whole Katherine/Damon/Stefan stuff before Elena knew they were vamps because OMG Stefan is 17(!!!) Does no one thinks it's weird he's like "it was a long time ago" A LONG TIME AGO LIKE WHEN YOU WERE 12?! They should have made him at least 20, just bothers me.
I liked that not every vampire had a daylight ring and it was more of a novelty. That is something that could have stuck more in the later seasons.
Lines that made me laugh:
Caroline: Yeah, Elena wasn't so lucky today. It's only because you missed summer camp. God, I don't know how you're ever going to learn the routines. (Bonnie offers to help her) I guess we can put her in the back. (all right in front of Elena lmao oh Caroline never change)
Caroline: So, Elena...how long do you think this fight with Stefan's gonna last? Is it...like a permanent thing? (eyes on the prize baby! lol)
Stefan: (imitating Damon) Now that the secret society of vampire haters is off our back, I can go back to my routine of how can I destroy Stefan’s life this week. (never gets old!)
Damon: *shoots Logan with wooden bullets* Payback's a bitch, isn't it? (all in the delivery here lmao kudos to Ian)

Abigail (2024) review
Tumblr media
Elon Musk lookalike gets mauled by vamps. Shame it’s not a true story.
Plot: A group of would-be criminals kidnaps the 12-year-old daughter of a powerful underworld figure. Holding her for ransom in an isolated mansion, their plan starts to unravel when they discover their young captive is actually a bloodthirsty vampire.
I feel somewhat guilty of including a plot synopsis in this review. Then again, it’s the marketing of the movie that needs to be blamed, as the trailers reveal the fact that the little girl is a killer-vamp. Yet in the movie this fact is kept hidden until about 30 minutes in. I myself don’t like it when I already know what is going while yet the characters just start to scratch their heads wondering what the hell is happening to them. It makes the inevitable reveal unsatisfying seeing as again the trailers have spoiled it already. I of course understand that the job of a trailer is to sell the movie us and make us want to spend our cash to see a ballerina vampire go crazy loco, but then don’t make a good chunk of the movie a pointless mystery to get to that reveal.
Following said reveal however when Abigail uncuffs herself things do get as expected bonkers crazy. Coming from the folks that did Ready or Not, the movie actually shares a lot in its DNA with that film, even with the last close up shot. In Ready or Not we had a group of people inside a mansion trying to kill a helpless young woman and she outsmarted them all. In Abigail it’s reversed as we have a young girl killing a group of people inside a mansion and they try to outplay her. So it’s very much a case of if you liked Ready or Not, chances are you’re in for a good time with this one.
The writers also try to play around a little with vampire pop culture lore, trying to either play along with or debunk certain myths such as stakes to the heart Buffy-style, or the European belief of vampires being allergic to some garlic (vamps can be such sissies). However in doing so they do end up hitting some plot holes, wherein a vampire is technically undead but here the little girl has a heartbeat, pulse and emotions. I don’t know, I get the whole suspension of disbelief and I’m trying to delve into logic of the supernatural, but I really thought that was [insert Deadpool voice] lazy writing. Other than that all the vampire shiz slayed. Loved the special effects, the high levels of ridiculous gore and the creepy yet over-the-top vampire make-up. The movie was also really self aware of the ridiculousness so fits concept and fully embraced the madness of a ballerina vampire.
The cast assembled are all on top form. Dan Stevens continues his banterous cool guy role fresh from Godzilla x Kong, and Kathryn Newton weirdly reminded me of Miley Cyrus here. Not sure why, something do with the make-up. Abigail Weir going from Matilda to killer vamp is honestly a fantastic acting career move from her agent, and Weir nailed it and felt so natural in the role. Kevin Durand as already mentioned looked like a beefed up Elon Musk, only more likeable. Giancarlo Esposito is in this for literally 5 minutes. Barely a cameo.
Ready or Not definitely felt fresher and better of the two, however Abigail is nevertheless a crowd pleasing horror comedy that offers plenty of jokes and slasher gore to please fans of the genre, and Abigail Weir is showcasing herself as a promising new talent.
Overall score: 6/10

"You take that back!"
I'm so wanting this to be a Vaxleth fic. Dealer's choice on who's being protective.
2. "You take that back!" setting this in vamp machina. call it vaxleth-adjacent.
The apartment walls are shaking, and Percy can't tell if it's a result of Keyleth's magic or her anger. They never fight like this; both of them tend toward silent stewing, bubbling boils that must cool over time, but today the rage spits and crackles, and they are red-faced and clench-fisted in the living room. She has called him a hypocrite (which is correct) and a bad friend (which is not), and he has retaliated by accusing her of caring more for an undead monster than his dead family. Sometimes, he wishes he weren't so good at this—six siblings, he is a marksman with words as well as bullets—but he is. He can see it in the jumping of her throat as she fights back tears.
Let her cry. He's right, and they both know it. The vampire comes around and whispers pretty things in her ear, sends her heart aflutter, a cat playing with its food. Keyleth is no mouse, has enough power to defend herself, he's sure, but to invite the thing into their home, to dance with the devil as if she cannot get burned—it's selfish, stupid, cruel.
(Doesn't she get what he gave up, once he learned the truth? Doesn't she know he toppled off the edge and is falling even still, weeks after he realized his own foolish naïveté? Maybe she does know. Maybe she knows how he went to kill Vex'ahlia, maybe she knows how he couldn't do it, maybe that's why she's digging her heels in like this. She has called him a hypocrite, and she's right, and they both know it.)
"There's an easy solution to our problems."
Her eyes narrow, suspicious of the calm tone he's taken suddenly. "What? We stop being friends?"
He blinks. That's not at all what he was suggesting, and the fact that that was the first place her mind went pierces right through his rib cage. "What?"
The first tear falls, and he can feel his own walls begin to shake. "Because you're the only family I have out here, Percy. I don't want to have to lose you."
"Keyleth, you're the only family I have period. It's because I care so much that I'm this pissed off at you!"
"Then what!"
"I'll just kill him!"
The apartment is small, yet somehow his shout echoes, reverberates off the walls and crashes into them, over and over and over. He watches her go ramrod straight, the brightness in her eyes darkening into something new, something he's never seen before. She closes the distance between them, and it's only now that he's realizing just how tall she is—not as tall as he is, but damn close.
"You take that back."
What are they, children? "I'm serious, Keyleth. I'll do it, if that's what it takes."
Her voice is low, even, dangerous, like a riptide waiting to yank him out to sea. "You can fucking try."
He blinks, and she's spun around on her heel. When she slams the door to her bedroom behind her, the walls shake once more, and Percy thinks for the first time that, maybe, he has made a grave miscalculation.

First of all, THANK YOU for this podcast, I’m obsessed with it and it makes me laugh out loud constantly. Plus it makes me love Edythe and Beau, I definitely have to read their book based on how likable and fun they seem to be.
I was actually just listening to episode where you describe Renee’s power from Edward’s perspective. You note that people are subconsciously pulled to her, and that might be why Bella’s so drawn to take care of her.
WHAT IF though, the reason she often feels in her shadow (describing her as prettier, more charming, more social) is because Bella’s shield makes her NOT affected by Renee’s power. It’d be cool if the reason for Bella feeling jealous or having low self esteem in comparison is because she is the only one who doesn’t feel that charismatic pull. What if it gives her issues BECAUSE she doesn’t quite understand it & thinks her mom has some weird power over people that she herself can’t picture having? She doesn’t experience that pull herself so she thinks she’s just shitty in comparison cause her mom is so beloved that she feels like she’s missing something that everyone else seems to see, so therefore she can never figure out how to make people like HER that way? I just thought it was a fun line of thinking, to think about her parental relationships from the lens of their respective powers combined with her shield.
It might even explain why she vibes so easily with Charlie, because Bella is used to not really experiencing people’s latent mind powers that seem to create bonds that she doesn’t understand (autistic coded Bella for the win). So her and Charlie are just kind of a relief to each other because both of them have quieter/more shielded minds and feel more on the outside of people with stronger latent mind powers/the relationships they fall into from them. They’re both kind of used to seeing social bonds they don’t understand or have a lot of power in, so they feel a kind of comfortable solidarity with each other that doesn’t feel like as much purposeful work to be a part of (autistic coded CHARLIE for the win??).
I love unexplored implications in Twilight so much.
edythe and beau are so fun and we love them so dearly and despite how fucking STUPID life and death is, conceptually, it's a fun and silly ride and I 1000% recommend it!!! and yes I do love thinking about all the vamp/human powers in this universe and I thank you generously for the discourse!! but on the flip side of your theory, I wonder if Bella is susceptible to Renee's gift. after all, Renesmee can get under her shield, so it would make sense that Bella's daughter and her mother's ability can still affect her!!! because in Bella's Twilight narration she never once speaks resentfully about Renee, even in her internal monologue, so I don't think Bella harbors and jealousy or resentment toward Renee. again, she LOVES her mom! they're best friends! in MS Bella tells Edward all about their adventures and bad car singing!
but thinking about Bella being immune is also very interesting; either way, she's finally moving around in a world without Renee and? people are paying attention to her?? what??? absolutely not! Bella did NOT sign up for this main character business she wants to go back to being In That Shadow baby! 10/10 fun theories to play around with. but yeah I highkey doubt Charlie's immunity to her gift, because my mans is STILL hung up on that hashtag quirky girl even all these years later. Renee's gift could 100% explain that one tbh </3 poor guy—shannon
tyvm mulletposting!! (love the url.) and I pretty much totally agree with what shannon said—both the "bella is immune to renee" and "bella is not immune to renee" readings are suuuuper fascinating. especially if you factor in Respirator and suddenly we've got 3 generations of women who are Not Immune to each other and each is the Exception to her mom's power in some way. innnnnteresting
also ngl sometimes I worry that we talk edythe and beau up too much because we enjoy them so much in comparison to edward and bella. everyone make a pact right now that you'll keep that in mind if/when you read L&D lol —G

Hey hey! You’re lovely vamp reader here! I loved those requests! Thank you so much! Is it cool if I send you some fun requests your way? If possible, I got one for you.
GN! Reader/Hazbin Staff and Angel with a sinner with powers of the Night and Lunar Magic that’s primordial. Think of Nyx, Stolas, or Selene (Moon Goddess) type.
Hello, great to see you again! I'm always happy to hear your ideas, and I'm glad you like what I put out, it means a lot! Okay, I HAVE to take this on with a reader who's associated with Astrology because I haven't studied it for six years for nothing I could read my chart to you without missing a beat- plus Astrology is kinda primordial I suppose? It does have magic roots and such. And Stolas, in Demonology, does hold dominion over Astrology I believe. If you want me to do this differently let me know! Gender neutral pronouns used, under the cut for length and possible triggers. TW: brief mention of alcohol (Husk), I don't believe there's any other triggers but let me know if I need to add any.
Alastor - He's never been too interested in things that aren't pheasable. If he can't see it or touch it, he doesn't understand it. That's where [Y/N] comes in! - They would start by casually asking for his birthday, to which he'd definitely refuse to state, and they'd guess at his chart. He'd blow it off at first but, over time, get curious. - So he'd ask questions, and they would dump info on him about things he didn't even ask about. Who is this Chiron and what do they have to do with all this? He just wanted to know why they were throwing all these funky words at him now he's getting a lecture. - Despite being a sinner, they have influence over Astrology on a broad basis and use it to their advantage, taking into account other sinners' charts to understand them better and appeal to them. - Over time Alastor comes around to the idea of it, though he still doesn't understand it and isn't necessarily interested in learning too much, but he likes the idea of having an accomplice with a unique ability to help him persuade others into deals with him.
Angel Dust - Angel is probably the second least interested in Astrology, but he'll bite and ask. He gets hit with a host of questions and facts and spends thirty minutes listening to a stranger ramble on about something he's never even heard of before. Why does it matter that his Jupiter is in Gemini he doesn't care. - He will occasionally ask them a question relating to Astrology if he needs to burn some time for any reason but he'll only pay half attention for a while. - It's when he learns that another average sinner can manipulate Astrology that he's actually interested. He wants to see it happen. So he dares them to go pull it off on Husk, and they do. - This is followed by an emotionally distant Husk and Angel laughing his ass off because they exposed Husk for having a Cancer Venus or whatever and they explained it in detail and Husk got defensive and threw a wine bottle at them. - He's not exactly interested in Astrology, nor does he care to learn much about it, but he likes his new friend and their passion and ability with Astrology, and if it makes them happy he has no issue listening to them rant on about something that makes zero sense to him, but he'll try his best.
Husk - In his long life he met a few fortune tellers and what-not who pulled magic tricks by using basic Astrology, so he doesn't expect much when he meets a sinner who claims to have an influence on Astrology. - It's after a five minute conversation that they ask for his birthday and he responds and they yell out, "you're a Capricorn that makes so much sense!" He doesn't give a damn but he'll listen to them go on about him being a Capri Sun or whatever. - He'll try to emulate what they're doing and make a guess at their sign and get it wrong each time. He still thinks it's a magic trick. - He changes his mind, however, when they show their work in action. They're both in a bar, Husk is drunk as hell about to get in a bar fight and they intervene, appealing to the other sinner's most personal feelings and beliefs and calms them down, saying something to the extent of, "your mother wouldn't let you talk like that". Afterwards he asks what it was all about and they simply respond, "oh, their Saturn is in Cancer". If it was a magic trick it was pretty damn convincing. - He'll affectionately refer to them as his little fortune teller, they're always looking at constellations and planet positions and once panicked because Mercury Retrograde was about to happen and he found it hilarious.
Charlie - As the princess of Hell, she's seen many sinners with many different abilities, such as Alastor, but she's yet to meet a sinner with the ability to understand and manipulate Astrology. - She'd ask a lot of questions. Did their obsession with Astrology as a human land them in Hell? What will they do with their knowledge when they're redeemed? - She's too busy to really listen to [Y/N] go on about Astrology, but she finds spare time to listen to tidbits of it. She finds it engaging. - She knows they can manipulate Astrology for their benefit, but kindly requests they not do anything bad with their ability and try to do good things. - Her plan is for them to use their ability to appeal to other sinners trying to redeem themselves, perhaps speak to them on a more personal level and understand them more, then relay that information back to Charlie so she can better work with individual sinners. - Overall Charlie finds it engaging and interesting and, while she doesn't have the spare time to learn too much about it, she thinks a sinner with that kind of power would be useful in helping redeem sinners in the hotel, and kindly requests they join the staff to help her and other program runners understand individual situations from a unique standpoint.
Vaggie - Having been alive during the internet era, she knew a fair bit about Astrology herself, she at least knew a few of her signs or whatever but never took it seriously, it was more of a hobby for her. - Upon meeting a new sinner in the hotel and asking about any special abilities, they responded with the option to manipulate Astrology, and she asked them to elaborate. - "Well you're visibly an Aquarius moon, you likely had mommy issues and right now I'm going to trigger your second house in Sagittarius to make you question why you couldn't get money in only one way." - Immediately Vaggie found herself insecure in how she earned money during life and how she never held down one job because she always chased another and could never stick to one profession. - "Okay, I can see how you make that work. Why do you want to be redeemed?" They would explain that their obsession with Astrology led them to a completely accidental death, and how they wanted to reverse their judgement by using their new ability for a good use to be redeemed. - Vaggie is a little suspicious but lets them join the hotel under a variety of programs. She doesn't ask much of them, only that they don't use their ability to manipulate others or do bad things. - She would see good opportunity in this ability and would hope they would do their best to put it to good use, and actively encourages them to use their ability to help others, but knows they're the only one who can decide what they do with such an ability.
Nifty - She read her horoscope in the newspaper daily, she thought she knew everything about Astrology! Like, she's a Virgo, what else is there? Oh, the entire solar system takes into account? Stars, too? She wants to learn more! - While she's cleaning and cooking she loves to hear them ramble on about different aspects of Astrology and how they make Astrology work in their favor. She especially likes to learn more about her own chart and what it means about her. - She would go out of her way to better understand Astrology, even buying books and other media to learn more. Of course her main source of learning comes from [Y/N]. - She'd try her own hand at Astrology, trying to guess different charts based on others' personalities, and she's usually pretty good at it, which excites her! - She can't manipulate Astrology the way [Y/N] can but she likes to be their wing-woman to help along the way. She doesn't belong to them but she likes to be around when they're doing their Astrology stuff as a second opinion and voice of reason.

Why are there many radfems/terfs who like Alicent? Does it has anything to do with the childbride thing?
Basically, since both (some) RadFems and (all) TradCaths wish to regress women to this status of "thing that is helpless or diminutive against male aggression/authority" (and not say or believe it is possible for a woman to have power), then Alicent is their goddess and representation of what they think is the "reality" of a woman, what she is and looks like.
A)
I and @rhaenyragendereuphoria wrote/reblogged about why some people liked the ship Rhaenicent HERE. Many of the points we bring up still apply to just Alicent, since this ship is really about Alicent and her using Rhaenyra's "cool" to further her own (how the shippers feel if not admit).
To make this shorter, let’s apply a trope to Alicent. rhaenyragendereuphoria mentions how Alicent fits under and is written towards the Proper Lady trope which:
is a gentle yet strong being, incorruptible and pure as the driven snow, as unlike The Vamp as she comes, and Madonna-like in her virtues. She sacrifices herself for the good of her family, religion, and country. She is intelligent enough to smoothly run a household, and wisely spends her husband's money for the good of her family, never guilty of negligence or selfish frivolity. She possesses the wit, taste, and esprit necessary to be a star of Society, and never crosses the border of good taste and civility. She is devoted and loyal, never treacherous or scheming. Her manners are never less than impeccable, and her good will and charity are a beacon to those lucky enough to live around her.
And even the Team Mom trope (episode 2 where she “guides” Rhaenyra).
Now Alicent doesn’t fit totally into Proper Lady trope because she actually  schemes and is treacherous against Rhaenyra, her supposed friend. But the fact she tries to uphold the conservative priorities of “sacrifice” (sacrificing oneself for the supposed “greater good” of the conservative social order/feudal class and gender hierarchy by dutifully following the rules).
Basically Alicent is the perfect “good girl” -- the feudal version -- because she pushes for people to obey the hierarchal social order and its rules, but Alicent’s character on HotD also is very contradictory and changed drastically so that her motivations are confounding. I basically pinned two-three different and related options:
feel she “deserves” to gain the rewards of having her sons inherit the throne
make all Rhaenyra subordinate to her (psychologically making up for her “sacrifice” in gving up her body) and have this one girl/former recognize her superior authority
make Rhaenyra and women also have to follow the rules so she doesn’t have to feel as miserable and jilted as she does
So Alicent comes across as this victim of both the patriarchal system in place and a victim of not getting what she deserves for “playing her part” and obeying that very system. She is “relatable”, as @la-pheacienne says:
People don’t relate to these exceptional heroines because they are not looking for exceptional characters. They are looking for a more successful or a more glamourous version of themselves.
Does this sound counterintuitive, since such hierarchies don’t “care” about how you feel and actually prioritizes the will of the ruler/clan-or-house head? Yes. Just don’t tell that to a green stan and not expect to get a bunch of ad hominem “arguments”.
B)
Though they hypocritically bleat about how the patriarchy in Westeros is their culture or something that no one then could escape, they, yes, use the idea that Alicent was a child bride (15 when married) in HotD (even if you tried to say the same of her original character she wasn’t since she was 18 when she married Viserys in the book), they don’t care about history and how environment and/or know that Westerosi nobles have been marrying their young girls from the time they got their first period.
Ancient and medieval people -- even going into the early-mid 1800s -- died a lot sooner than they do now in Western societies due to lack of knowledge and tech, so everyone married much sooner. Plus, as la-pheacienne says in another POST, where they say:
The problem with the word “grooming” is that it’s not a neutral word. It’s a word with a very heavy meaning, that frames an individual who has a perverse, unnatural sexual desire for children whereas the society this individual lives in has decided (fortunately) that these children are not to be considered in a sexual way. So this individual breaks a fundamental moral code of the society they live in, and they do it so skillfully that they go the extra mile as to manipulate their way into basically, committing the crime that constitutes child sex abuse. It is a crime punished by law. You go to prison for it. Everybody knows it is perverse, unnatural behaviour, everybody tries to protect their children from it, and children themselves have a certain knowledge that it is NOT ok for an adult to approach them that way.
Grooming cannot be applicable to Alicent and Viserys, Rhaenrya and Viserys. grooming can’t be used as a serious criticism when the persons involved expect to get married this way and actually can find/use power through such unions. The problem with Alicent marrying Viserys, as presented in HotD, should have been how Otto pressures her into it, not how Viserys chooses her. Because Viserys doing that is actually him choosing not to go for a girl even younger, a 12 year old.
Child-brides work in the context of a world where such marriages intentionally flout rules/laws/ against them in the larger context where the idea of youth vs childhood itself becomes totally realized. And it wasn’t in the ancient/medieval ages. We’d have to wait until the 19th century when people focused more on instructing children and the Romantics for that one, and even then the idea of childhood came from the Romantics wanting to isolate themselves from the sociopolitical demands and smog of the then industrial age. a “return” to the “innocence” of early life. Some wrote works that emphasized:
childhood came to be seen as especially close to God and a force for good [...] Jean-Jacques Rousseau, whose Émile, or On Education (1762) not only rejects the doctrine of Original Sin, but maintains that children are innately innocent, only becoming corrupted through experience of the world.
But they use “child bride” with ignorance and the intent to prove how Alicent is the “real” and only victim aside from Aemond. The actual protagonist/the story’s central interest. And it certainly doesn’t help when the actual show and its writers refuse to frame Alicent as anything but a deluded misogynist in no uncertain terms more than they display her as helpless time and time again: Olivia Cooke plays her as frantic and beset by here fear that Rhaenyra would kill her kids and she looks very pathetic and helpless when she protests against Aemond’s eyes lost. there is her with Larys.
All of these come across as Alicent being beleaguered by disobedient, “over”- privileged royals (meanwhile, her father is Hand and she comes from the richest, one of the most influential houses in Westeros).
Finally, if Alicent is a child bride, their “sympathy” should extend to Rhaenyra, who was canonically forced to marry Laenor when she was 17 and he was 20. It should extend towards Daenerys Targaryen, who not only marries Drogo at 13, she is actually sold into sexual slavery to the same man who becomes her first husband. But it doesn't, because Valyrian/Targ girls are all evil for being Targaryen.
That in of itself tells you that Alicent being a child bride is not the real reason why many of the stan her or think she is "right". They stan her because many of them think she is more relatable and deserves a reward for her obedience to the patriarchal system in place that victimizes her in the first place. They love her because she is the "good girl" who should have found success. Nothing more, nothing less.

Bg3 fanfic
Astarion x Tav
Tav = Nym Drow Sorcerer
Kinda dark but kinda sweet. Just like our favorite vamp
Warning: blood kink, monster kink, a little cnc, he's a vampire so, yeah
As a child of the Underdark, the surface sometimes made Nym sweat on even temperate days. She liked when there was a breeze a chill in the air. Winter was nice.
Winter was why when Nym first left the Underdark, she headed north. She'd read in a book at her academy library that there were training schools in the north of Faerun which could hone you into a weapon of precision. A wrist and a blade.
When Nym first woke up with the parasite, they were frightened. They began to meet others with the same affliction. She easily gained their trust.
Nym figured they could get rid of the parasite and maybe make a little coin along the way. They knew how to influence people and began to guide the group.
Nym (they/she) was a wild magic sorcerer who never wanted that life. They ran from the magic school her mother sent her to and trained in duelist weapons fighting on the surface.
The first time Astarion bit Nym they thought they could use his hunger and desperation to their advantage. But something changed as the seven companions traveled together. They began to grow friendships and bonds.
The defining moment of their friendship came during a particularly hazardous fight with a hag. Shadowheart fell to the ground after scorching the hag with radiant power. As Nym saw Shadowheart collapse, they felt a desperation they'd never felt before.
When Nym turned to Astarion she saw the same dawning horror on his face.
They both cared. Truly cared.
Passed the schemes and keeping their hides alive, they both knew to lose Shadowheart or any member of the group would be devistating.
Astarion dispelled an illusion of the hag with his off hand and reached for Shadowheart with his left. He pulled her up and she managed to down a potion. In several more moves, the hag lay dead.
Karlach and Shadowheart wasted no time in looting the hags sanctuary, a joy the friends usually shared. But Nym stood with Mayrina as she cried over her husbands coffin. Nym slid the blackened wand which they'd found on the hags table into her bag. They'd pocketed it before anyone else could see. As wild mages sometimes made the best hags, Nym studied their magic as well as her own. She knew a wand to raise the dead. An object that could be nothing but cursed.
Meanwhile, Astarion returned to the surface and hurried off into the putrid bog. He disappeared through the yellowed fog without a word.
Nefore the hag, the group had together that their next step would be to enter the Underdark. When Astarion didn't show up at the entrance they'd agreed on, Nym felt terror in her gut.
Astarion had run from them.
Despite descending into the Underdark with a carefree wave of her hand, Nym couldn't continue. She couldnt pretend Astarion's absense didnt sting.
They made camp the underground ruins of a temple to Selunè. Usually, Shadowheart had something to say when the group encountered the moon goddess and her people, but she was quiet as she made camp. They were all quiet.
The Underdark felt cool and refreshing to Nym after the humidity and stink of the bog. She washed in a small river they found, then settled into her bed. The day was too full of surprises and pain. Though Karlach and Wyll did a lot to bolster moral at dinner, it wasn't enough to sustain Nym's sense of hope.
Later that night, Nym felt the tadpole in her brain move. A shiver of anticipation running over it.
Astarion was back at camp. He moved quietly despite the tadpole sending out a call to the others. She felt some of the others breathe easier knowing he'd returned safe.
She didnt call to him, she waited to see what he would do. Nym often found that if you wanted long enough someone's true self would always be revealed.
The opening to her tent eased back. She could hear the rustle of cloth. Smell the perfumed body of her lover.
But was he her lover? If they were both being manipulative, what could they be?
Nym's heart skipped despite the calm she was trying to maintain.
Astarion eased under the soft sheet which covered Nym. His body was comfortable against their skin. His cool arm slid over her as it did each night. He leaned his mouth close to their neck. His breath warmer then the rest of him. Astarion hovered there in the dark, but he hesitated.
In that moment of hesitation, Nym turned her head to gaze up at Astarion. In the dark, she could see his face. His eyes glowed like deep garnets set into the face of a marble statue.
"You don't have to feed on me tonight if you don't want to."
"I thought you rather enjoyed me feeding on you," His head titled and his voice was smooth. That same cocky humor laced his words but Nym could see through the mask, around the venier where fear was hiding. "Your breath does flutter so."
Hunger? Passion? Nym felt panic as they tried to analyze Astarion's tone. But her complex emotions from the days events had her fogged up.
"I like being close to you, I suppose." Nym said. She let herself be vulnerable. While the worst thing that could result from her vulnerability was Astarion killing her, she knew if he mocked her it would hurt, if he left she might cry. But she couldn't play right now, and she didn't want him too either.
"I'm glad you found us," Nym said. "When you didn't come home..."
"Home?" Astarion chuckled dryly.
The sound stung but Nym pressed on. "I was worried you wouldn't find us because we'd come down here."
"Worried? About me?" Astarion asked, his tone softening around the edges. "Why would you do that?"
"I don't know," Nym said. "I couldn't stop thinking of bad things that could happen."
"Darling, you should know better. Not only am I a viscous killer but I'm an expert at tracking."
"I know you're capable," Nym answered. "We've simply faced so many obstacles."
"Well, you can stop worrying," Astarion said. "I've returned to open all the locks and do most of the fighting. Your delicate tool is back."
"I'm glad you're back," Nym replied. They ignored his boasting and his cutting remarks. Nym trusted what he said and accepted it.
"What in the hells is the matter with you?" Astarion asked. He sat up, pulling away. Nym missed the contact but she wouldn't force him. "We dance around such feelings. We're above deep, short term gain attachments. I thought we understood that about one another."
"I don't know, Astarion," Nym said. "Some of the game isn't fun anymore. The risks are too high."
He loomed over her, his hands landing on either side of her head. "The risks are worth the rewards. These fools would blindly follow you into a fire. What an opportunity."
"I know," Nym said. "But, things are different. I'm different. There's my friends, you're my friend."
"Friend," Astarion's eyes flicked towards the entrance to the tent. Either afraid someone my hear him utter the word or he was about to run again.
Nym touched Astarion's arm, letting their fingers move up the sculpted muscles to his shoulder. Their fingers trailed delicately over his bottom lip.
"You can feed on me, or you can hold me," Nym said. Throat was tight with emotion, they continued. "I'm just happy to have you back."
"And if I chose to tear through this camp, drinking all their blood and ingesting their worms to gain power? Then what?" Astarion threatened.
"I'd be dead." Nym replied. "I wouldn't care what happened after that. Though, my soul would mourn you on whatever plane I ended up on."
Astarion's eyes softened before hardening again. He moved so fast that Nym felt the sting of his teeth before she was aware he'd even moved. Her body arched against him as he laid his weight on top of her, pushing himself between her knees. She let him take her, let him do what he wanted.
If he'd been a mortal, she'd have stabbed him under his ribs with her dagger. But he was a vampire spawn. He was Astarion.
His mouth soften on her neck and he pulled back, his arms holding him up above her.
"I didn't mean to bite so hard," Astarion rushed to say.
"I know," Nym stared back at him. They both knew he was lying, but Nym knew he lied because he regretted it. For Astarion that was a big deal.
Nym waited for his next reaction. He tilted his head as he looked over their face. While the Underdark didn't have moonlight and stars to illuminate things, it did have phosphorescent mushrooms, spores, and insects. Most of which cast a lavender glow.
"Are you all right?" He asked in a hushed tone. Astarion moved off their hips. She missed his weight but didn't say anything. Nym worried about Astarion more than herself. More than she'd worried about anyone for a long time.
"I'll be fine," Nym said. I just need rest and a restoration hit from Shadowheart.
"Perhaps we can sleep in tomorrow," Astarion said. "We'll claim we need rest and make the big-boot squad go out without us." Astarion tilted his head. Nym could tell he was satisfied with his nickname for when Karlack, Lae'zel, Wyll, and Halsin went for supplies.
Nym reached up and touched the soft white curls on his forehead which did little to hide his worry lines.
"We should," Nym said.
"We'll squirrel away with a jar of Gale's honied plums and get fat on them." Astarion said.
"He'd give them to you if you asked, darling," Nym loved the small moniker. It started as Astarion attempting to flirt with her to get into her good graces but had become so many other things too.
"It's more fun to take them and watch him wonder what happened to them while we lick sweet nectar from each other's lips."
"You have me sold," Nym said, smiling up at Astarion.
"I do like how agreeable you are," Astarion said. He leaned close to her neck, cleaning the small trickle of blood which remained. Sealing the wounds enough to stop the bleeding.
"You just happen to make the same choices as me and we agree about things, it's not the same thing." Nym said.
"Go back to telling me I'm pretty," Astarion teased.
"You're the most beautiful person in the world to me," Nym said. She didn't have to lie. Her affection made Astarion beautiful, but also, yes, Astarion was beautiful.
Astarion kissed over Nym's eyelids before settling beside her again. She turned toward him, resting against his chest. They held each other even after the first sounds of the others in the camp stirring reached them.

Ignore my last posts bruh tbh my fault for interacting. So I’m reading The Queen of the Damned and Part I and Part II were a bit lack luster…. But I just finished reading the first two chapters of Part III and we are sooo back!! These were some of my thoughts reading.
(Spoilers ahead!!)
1. Lestat: In the Arms of the Goddess
The story has finally begun!!!! Lestat drinks from Akasha and gains some cool new powers like flight and teleportation, we love to see it.
Lestat’s back at his old chateau and is forced to remember his past… any time Lestat thinks about the wolves gets to me… “My only moment of glory, and what had it got me? The admiration of an accursed bloodsucker who chose to make me his heir.”
And when Akasha shows him the weapons he used to kill those wolves and asks him to use his new skills to kill for her, he wonders “Wasn’t the same thing happening now? Loved for what I’d been in those early thoughtless mortal years.”
Reminding him of the monastery, and 200 year old Lestat of course remembering it still so clearly “God I didn’t want to think of those times. But some things can never be forgotten.”
Akasha reminding him how he had knelt on the floor of the chapel and begged God to make him good (shoot meeee) and then telling him “You wanted to be a saint when you knelt in that chapel, now you shall be a god with me”. Fire.
And also “I am your true Mother, the Mother who will never abandon you,” OK Gabrielle shade….
Really enjoyed this chapter.
2. Marius: Coming Together
Vampire conference chapter!! So turns out Akasha smoked all the vampires in the world except for the ones in the conference room. Interesting. I wonder if Azim is also smoked he seemed important in the Pandora chapter.
Love all the vampires interacting with one another. We got a lot of backstory for most of the new ones but not for everyone present which makes me wonder whether they will be killed off soon or whether a Santino or Eric chapter will be in this book’s future. I know I complained ab all the previous lore chapters but im low key intrigued who are these ppl lol (I know Santino is Armand’s old coven master, but what’s Eric’s deal?).
There’s a part where Marius is looking around the conference at all the hot vampires and wonders “Was nobody ugly ever given immortality?” I laughed out loud.
I also love Gabrielle going “If I waste this bitch, to use the vernacular, do I waste the rest of us too?”Ooh ok Gabrielle! I really want to see her and Akasha interact.
I’m excited to get the full story of the twins! So far what I’m getting is that Akasha blames the twins and their culture of interacting w spirits for the creation of vampires? And that’s why she and Enkil sent the soldiers to their village and put the twins through hell? I feel like the dreams started bc the Queen had awoken and Makare sensed this so sent out the dreams to warn the other vamps of the Queen’s intentions. Idk excited to find out though.
