Don’t think I ever quite said what my LGBTQ+ headcanons are for the boys, so these are my current thoughts! Always changing of course but this is what I feel most strongly right now.

Weird observation but I just noticed that when Dulcie is talking to Cath (especially in episode 4) her body language changes, sort of subtly, but you can see the way her movements become more awkward (shifting on her feet and clearly not being sure where to look, etc) and how she tries to make herself smaller (sticking her hands into her pockets, hunching down, lowering her head), contrast with how she is around Eddie, where she’s clearly comfortable in taking up the space.

In her fight with Cath, she is very deliberate to stay on her side of the desk, she keeps her voice quiet and controlled for most of it, and even when she has her big “are you kidding me?!” moment, discovering how much Cath lied to her / kept from her about the case, she stays out of Cath’s bubble entirely. after that outburst, despite being angry, she doesn’t confront Cath physically, she instead sits in the corner, hunched over with her arms crossed.

It’s only in the makeup scene, when Cath is apologizing for everything and they’re reconciling, that you see her body language open. When they kiss she reaches for Cath’s face and not her waist, she isn’t hunching, she’s also more firm with Cath too and in that scene Cath actually listens to her.

#deadloch #Usually you see this body dynamic shown when it’s an abusive relationship #And while at the point we see them Cath is definitely not being a great partner to Dulcie #Shes not abusive or controlling #In fact she clearly wants Dulcie to come out of her shell and enjoy life more too #In their case Dulcie’s body language is probably more the manifestation of her feeling real soul eating shame for the Sydney incident #She clearly feels like she’s lost the right to Cath’s love and is trying to make up for it by letting Cath lead in every single way #No matter how miserable it makes her #She doesn’t feel like she has the right to be an equal in their relationship anymore so she hunches down and stays quiet #And this isn’t helped by Cath constantly affirming this feeling by holding what happened over her head and using it to guilt her #Into doing things #thats why in the fight while she is definitely still closed off her outburst is probably the most open we see her with Cath at that point #And why in the scene when Cath apologizes she opens up bc it’s at that point she realizes that they’re back to being equals #And Cath doesn’t want her to be unhappy or have to fold herself for her #character analysis #i guess #i like body language

I think what bothers me about situations like this is that the og action is never nearly as racist as the thousands of ppl rushing to prove how not racist it is. Like don’t get me wrong the racism is still there; but it is not nearly as sinister or malicious as the ppl who cut any potential growth at the root by shouting from the rooftops that black people are stupid dramatic and wrong.

Edit: this is about the Motaz situation! I’m 1000% free Palestine till it’s backwards and I’m not gonna speak for everybody ofc, but for me I’m of the vein that we shouldn’t put these people on a pedestal. They’re human beings trying to survive, and being extremely brave whilst doing so, but they’re subject to the same biases and problems that everyone else is. I’m not downplaying the situation but some of y’all are reacting in ways that fall in line with celebrity stan culture bc you’ve stopped viewing Palestinians as people and it’s STRANGE! That’s a whole different convo tho.

since you said you're watching dc too, what characters from the o.c. do you connect with what characters from dawson's creek? or ships or other elements or whatever bc eg that scene in s1 when joey talks to her dad in prison really reminded me of ryan visiting trey in s1/his plot with his dad in general (but pls don't spoil anything for me, i know a few spoilers like i know about jacey bc the first few episodes i watched were the s3 ones where jacey starts but i don't know too much yet, like small spoilers are okay but... yeah i think you get the idea, sorry for rambling !)

Joey's dad is a pretty cool catch and it definitely reminded me of the OC too.

For starters, I think Jen is totally Marissa coded (or Marissa is Jen coded). They both have the whole traumatized "bad" girl thing and a lot of things about their story arcs is similar. Marissa also has a lot of similarities with Audrey from the later seasons (also one of my favs).

While the dynamics are completely different, I do think that Dawson and Joey have a Ryan and Marissa quality to them as everyone including their SO's around them can sense that there is something between them even if that drives them nuts. (I think you can say the same about Sethmer and Jacey too but I connect it with RM and DJ more) There are some Pacey and Joey moments that remind me of Sethmer- some Sethmer/Zach scenes actually parallel with late S3 and S4 Jacey/Dawson scenes. Actually S4 Sethmer and S4 Jacey have direct parallels.

While the former is much more rocky and messed up, Mitch and Gail give me Sandy and Kirsten vibes. They actually have some direct parallels, like Mitch's passion for a restaurant.

Now some random observations. Now that I think about it, S3 Taylor has shades of Abby Morgan in her. Seth's Nana and Jen's Grams have some similarities. There's a reveal in early S3 of DC that reminds me of Lindsay. Jen has a storyline in S3 that is totally Sethmer. I also think that I can draw parallels with the college storylines!

If I ever come across as a Nancy anti I promise I’m not, she’s one of my favorite of the older teens and I love her, but when I’m talking about characters like Mike and Jonathan, some of their main conflicts are the result of her stubbornness/inability to recognize when she’s wrong
