Chuffed to Bits pt. 2
A/N: No warning this time. Just that wholesome chapter right before everything gets shaken up. Back at uni so updates are gonna be slower (obviously). Hope you still enjoy!
morning came too fast. groggily you sat up as the chatter from the morning critters outside awoke you. the shifting caused something under the covers to grumble as well.
“5 more minutes, raiden.” kung lao’s morning voice trailed off.
you pushed his shoulder to signal him to move as he blocked you in close to the wall. he swatted your hand away which caused you to look at him with audacity. your ear twitched in irritation.
so you leaned over his shoulder to inspect his face, and perhaps shake him awake.
feeling the bed dip on either side of him, lao teased you, “if you wanted to be on top, you could’ve just asked”. he grins as he peaks at you through one eye.
you feel your cheeks get hot as you pull away quickly, stuttering as you explain to him that you wanted to get up.
you sit back on your calves and watch as he cracks himself up. you cross your arms in annoyance.
“you really are insufferable. i bet the women of fengjian are relieved at not having to deal with you.”
without thinking, he pulls you close so that you’re sitting on his waist. his hands sat at either side of your hips. “aww, come on. don’t be like that. i’m sure johnny has me beat in terms of flirtatious behavior.”
your arms still crossed, you choose to stare out the window hoping to still portray annoyance, though you were feigning it now. you’d rather not allow yourself to think about the compromising position you were in right now.
as lao’s body fully recuperated from sleep, his vision became clearer and he looked up at your frame that surrounded him. your locs draped to your shoulders, some covering your eyes, which you push back to see properly. he stared at your face and your furrowed brows as you pretend to be mad at him. your full lips poked out and pouted. unknowingly, he began to rub circles into your hips, causing you to shift above him. suddenly, your tail, which was casually flickering, stilled and your eyes went wide.
“what’s wrong?” he also stopped, not wanting to make you uncomfortable.
“i know you can’t control it, but I think you might need to take a cold shower before breakfast.” your voice trailed off as if there were others around.
as quick as he was to place you on top of him, you were quickly tossed back to your side of the bed.
when you look back at him, he stared straight-faced at the ceiling, the pillow that had been supporting his head now placed in his lap.
you laugh.
“y/n…” he whines, a little dejected you find his embarrassment funny.
“aww, poor baby. you always get like this whenever you see pretty girls?” you place your forearms on his chest and place your chin in one palm, almost as if you were inspecting him.
he rolls his eyes, but plays into your jest, “only for you.”
it’s your turn to roll you eyes, “you’re just saying that”. you pull back to get up.
he sits up also to chase you, “i’m serious.”
you go back to your defensive pose, arms crossed, sitting on you calves. out of the corner of your eye, you inspect his face for any signs of foul play. instead, you see he’s staring at you with sincerity, his lips tugged into a half smile. his hair fell out of his ponytail, allowing it to frame his face well. you tail flails back and forth as you mess around with the ideas in your head.
“what are you thinking about?” he asks.
“you.”
the teasing words that he wanted to say are caught in his throat in a strangled sound. he reaches out and brushes your locs out of your face again.
this couldn’t hurt.
you lean into his touch, you cheek resting in the palm of his hand as you feel the warmth radiate from it. you’re chuffing again, but don’t try to inhibit the sound.
“c-can i —“
“please.”
he leans in and pecks your lips first. he pulls away to gauge your reaction, but you chase him down, fully indulging in how your lips fit together.
he pulls you back into his lap, the pillow still blocking any uncomfortable conversation. his hands support you from your lower back as he presses you into him. naturally, your arms wrap around his neck. the kisses get deeper, you tail wrapping around his leg as if to keep him from leaving.
“y/n, have you seen kung la-oh.”
“y/n’s here? OH SHI—“
your session is cut short as raiden and johnny bust through the door.
——————
you were sat next to kung lao with raiden beside him. johnny and kenshi sat opposite of you. johnny would not stop wiggling his eyebrows and singing that terrible elementary K-I-S-S-I-N-G song. you kicked his shin which caused him to let out a yelp.
it didn’t help that raiden also decided he wanted to get his teasing in, picking up where Johnny left off. kenshi hid his smirk from the protection of his cup.
“good morning. i hope you all had a restful night despite the storm. y/n, how are you feeling?” liu kang sat himself next to kenshi which evened out the table.
“good morning, liu. i’m actually doing pretty well this morning.”
“i bet you are.” johnny coughs to cover up his remark.
“that’s good. johnny tells me that you and kung lao have found comfort in each other.” liu kang smiles innocently as he eats his own breakfast.
“really? i thought gods didn’t gossip?” you say through grit teeth. you clench the fork so hard that it completely breaks in half.
“is it gossip if it is true?” liu kang shoots back a smirk of his own.
meanwhile, johnny is whistling and looking everywhere else but you. he’s about to excuse himself from the table when kenshi grabs his shirt and forces him back down. in the split second that his skin is exposed, you manage to see a red-purplish mark on his neck. a cheshire grin takes over your face. lao wraps an arm around your waist before asking if you were okay.
“i’m fine lao.” a natural smile replaces the evil smirk before you grab his fork to finish your plate.
————————
after breakfast, things get serious. there are multiple new additions to the brigade with whom you must familiarize yourself with. there is syzoth, ashrah, baraka, and the lin kuei brothers who you remember from when liu kang first recruited johnny and kenshi.
it seems like liu kang wanted to put an end to this now, preparing you all with a course of action. but it seems like this mission didn’t concern you. mainly, the lin kuei brothers who would scope out the territory before the rest of you were to join in.
“we will leave immediately.” sub-zero’s gruff voice followed quickly after liu kang’s breakdown of the plan.
“i’m sure we could be of use. atleast i can sneak around and provide added muscle.” you speak out. they were then made aware of your new capabilities, your tail striking smoke accidentally. liu kang’s face showed signs of him considering it, but sub-zero spoke first.
“we have no need for a clumsy cat to join us.”
your ears flatten at the insult and kung lao quickly steps up on your behalf.
“y/n is more than capable—“
scorpion and smoke nearly pouted at your reaction and quickly rectify their brother’s actions.
“what he means is that we are trained differently. it takes years to master our ways.”
you place a hand on kung lao’s arm, encouraging him to drop the argument. he unwillingly does.
“you all have my full confidence, i would be even more so if you would return to Wu Shi. you are to prepare for war.”
————————
back at Wu Shi, you broke away from kung lao in order to antagonize johnny.
“what occasion must i honor for allowing you to grace us with your presence?” johnny accented.
you roll your eyes as you stand in the doorway of his and kenshi’s shared space. kenshi was sharpening sento on his pallet while johnny scrolled through social media, interested in what people had to say surrounding his whereabouts.
“just thought i’d come see my favorite person ever. my bestie for the restie. my—“
“even i can tell you’re planning something.” kenshi stopped his sharpening.
“kenshi, are you a man kisser?”
johnny shot up, his glasses now crooked on his head.
“excuse me?”
“do you or do you not kiss men on occasion?”
“I don’t think that concerns you.” he muttered.
“except it does. because as johnny cage’s assistant —“
“I thought you quit.” johnny interjects.
“it is one of my main priorities that johnny is always presentable in public and on set.” you move from the doorway before sprawling yourself on Johnny’s pallet.
“how am i to explain THIS to the audience.” upon emphasizing ‘this’ you pull back johnny’s shirt to reveal the mark on his collarbone that you witnessed earlier.
“hey! you can’t just manhandle me however you like!” like a woman who has just been exposed, he tries to cover himself up with the blankets.
“oh, but kenshi can? i knew you were filming a porno that time.”
johnny’s face was red and he turned on his side away from you, covering his embarrassment with his hands.
“y/n… you’re embarrassing me in front of kenshi.”
you roll your eyes at the quick turn in his personality. you then turn to kenshi who you thought also was gonna look like a deer in headlights. your jaw dropped when he covered his mouth, attempting not to laugh.
“this is funny to you?” you antagonize.
“listening to johnny get scolded like a teenage girl? absolutely.”
johnny sat up with his hair rustled every which way before crawling over to you both. he then plopped his head in kenshi’s lap.
“oh, I’m so gonna write a fan fiction from my secret account on this.”
“not if I beat you to it about you and kung lao!”

Chuffed to Bits
A/N: Y’all it’s finally happening, the story is moving along and the love interest is introduced. Also it gets a little angsty, but not too much. When I write, emotions are like whiplash so hope that’s cool. Enjoy!
you sat shrouded in darkness. you found out moments ago that walking was useless as the scenery never changed. every now and again you could hear whispers and know who they were coming from. johnny, kung lao, even liu kang as they wished for your steady recovery. you would answer, but your response echoed out into the unknown. that was until it started to get brighter, and brighter, and —
“5 more minutes, please.” you groan and roll over on a soft surface.
“she’s awake. go alert lord liu kang and the others.” an unknown voice said.
you grab the sheet that you were wrapped in before pulling it over your head in attempts to block out the blinding light peering down on you.
you heard a rush of footsteps barge into wherever you were staying, before the same sheet was ripped away from you.
“hey! i was using tha—“ you were silenced with a warm and fairly tight embrace.
finally coming to your senses, you blinked a few times to clear the gunk from your eyes. blurry vision began to clear, transforming silhouettes into familiar figures.
you first addressed the grown man who hugged you tightly like a toddler.
“johnny, you’re gonna break my ribs at this rate,” but you hugged him back with the same fervor.
“3 days. You left me by myself for 3 days and you know I need adult supervision!”
“3 days?” you question and it seemed like liu kang had answers.
“y/n, i am glad that you are alright. tell us, how do you feel?” liu kang stepped forward.
“honestly, probably the best I’ve ever felt in forever,” then the reality of johnny’s words hit you.
“3 DAYS?! I WAS IN A COMA?”
“Something like that.” kenshi’s voice resonated.
you damn near scramble off the bed to reach his side.
“kenny! are you okay?” you grab his arms and forcibly turn him around to get a good look at him. you place your hand on his face when you still see the fabric across his sockets.
“do you even take care of yourself?” he chuckled, before grabbing your arms and lowering them. “honestly though, probably the best I’ve ever felt in forever.”
you scrunched your face up, dissatisfied with his response. “but your eye—“
“johnny finally gave me sento, and it has restored my vision, in a way.”
your face straightened out and a wide grin took over instead, you pulled him in for a hug also. “that’s amazing!”
a cough broke you out of it. you turned to the source and saw kung lao whistling and looking around the room. you narrowed your eyes and smiled before walking over and entering an embrace with him also. with your face smashed into his chest, you mumble, “and to what do I grant this occasion?”
“i carried you back all the way like your knight in shining armor and I—
“I think it’s time that we fill you in on what has occurred since your last encounter.” liu kang finished.
in your embrace with kung lao, raiden had come behind and placed a hand on your shoulder, “i’m glad you’re ok, y/n.”
you pull away from lao slowly before you opt to walk beside liu kang. also among the group, you spot syzoth who you wave at before he disappears with baraka and a demonic looking woman.
“well considering we’re back at the monastery, I’m assuming that we snuck back fairly well.”
“um, no.” johnny interjected.
“of course not, without me nothing gets done without a show.” you sigh dejectedly.
they filled you in on how they ran into quan chi and his warriors and with the help of an ex-demon, ashrah, made it out alive. but that wasn’t all, and you had to roll your eyes as johnny made the sound effects for each scene. furthermore, when they made it back to the outworld mainland, had to fight through general shao, li mei, and other member of the army who labeled them as terrorists. only then, did they make it back to Wu Shi before they got you and Kenshi some help.
“well, after you killed those hunters—“
you stopped in your tracks, a bad habit, which caused raiden to bump into you. he catches you before you tumble. you place an arm on his chest to let him know you were ok, but the raging headache said otherwise.
“please don’t remind me.” you whimper.
“okay…” liu kang accepts, but his face scrunches up as he thinks of another way to bring up your new condition.
“how about you tell us how you ran into them the first time?” raiden offers. since he was not there, he needed to be filled in as well.
“i was in the forest trying to meditate as liu requested as a part of my training. but my attention span is only so long so I gave up after a while. heard trouble and went looking for it i guess. got me into an altercation with a big ass tiger. long story short, i guess I let their big game hunt get away.”
“is that why you looked so frazzled when I found you?” raiden asks.
you give him a look and he mutters a “sorry.”
“so you saved a big house cat and got rewarded for it?”
“would this be a bad time to have you look in a mirror?”
johnny and kung lao spoke at the same time.
“huh?”
as you rounded the corner, Kenshi faced you to a mirror that hung on the wall.
“johnny, I so quit.”
———————————————————————
you huddled under the covers as a storm raged outside. it was a true reflection in how you felt on the inside.
upon the discovery of new appendages, you damn near fainted on the spot. this had to be a trick, but as you pulled at them and felt pain, you knew you were condemned to life as a furry. the tail grew from your tailbone and was striped as a tiger’s would be. the triangular ears that moved like a sonar through your locs took in too much noise. your nails, which had been short and brittle for most of your life, had grown long and were sharp in a natural stiletto style. you were reduced to a house cat.
as the thunder boomed in your sensitive ears, you thought back to liu kang and geras’ conclusion.
“it seems like what johnny speculated is true. though I am a god, these forests have been around just as long as I have. there is no telling what is lurking in them. in addition to kung lao’s knowledge of his culture, it is very possible you encountered a spirit who wished to reward you for your tenacity and courage.”
“I did not consent to this.” you whined as you tried to flatten your ears on your head, but they kept popping back up.
“i don’t know, I think it’s kind of cool.” kenshi reached out to run behind your ears. but tigers don’t purr. so to everyone’s amusement and to your displeasure, you chuffed. the minute the sound came out, you slapped his hand away.
“do I have to lecture you about touching black people’s hair?!”
“so what now?” you turned to liu kang who was not doing a good job at hiding how funny he thought your new tendencies were.
“tame the beast.”
so much for that as you trembled as the lightning struck outside. you were formidable earlier in training, as for liu kang who suspected a much larger threat approaching, training was never over. in addition to new appearances and tendencies, it seemed you also took on a few other aspects like strength, agility, and speed.
it wasn’t until you were paired up with kung lao for the umpteenth time that things started to go awry. with your new abilities, kung lao was going to push you to your limits and that he did. he left almost no time to recuperate which left you feeling vulnerable and weak. that was until you felt a tug at your tail and pain shot up your spine as you wailed. it happened all too fast as the wail formed into a growl and rage filled your head. you were present mentally, but you could tell physically you had changed. you look down to see kung lao terrified between your han-, paws? you did not move, not wanting to scare anyone else. kung lao shuffled from beneath your still form. you did not look at him but could sense that he wanted to say something. you couldn’t look at anyone knowing they were most likely looking at you in fear or scrutiny, like you were a bloodthirsty monster. so you ran.
you went to the forest to cool down, slowly feeling your size shrink back to normal. a low grumble made itself known overhead, a storm was approaching.
“y/n! have you guys checked over there?” your ears whirl over to make out the location and the person, johnny. seemingly joined with raiden and liu kang.
“perhaps she is closer to the temple, it’s about to rain.” liu kang declared.
“i’m sure she just needs a little time to process everything.” raiden said in order to convince johnny to come back with them. johnny let out a defeated sigh before his footsteps got farther away. a raindrop hit you on the cheek, though you almost couldn’t tell with your tears.
you didn’t want to get rained on, surely as a cat, it would be the last thing you wanted. so with your agility and soft footsteps, you leaped from tree to tree, eventually from rooftop to rooftop before you made it back to your assigned room undetected. just as you entered, it started to pour which is where you are now.
under the sheets, left by yourself to face the storm.
knock, knock.
whoever it was didn’t wait for a response before slowly opening the door. however, once all the way open, let out a somewhat excited sigh at the sight of a lump under the covers.
“johnny is going crazy right now and we left a blind man to try and calm him down.”
kung lao, though you didn’t respond. however, your stomach did when the smell of food wafted into your now superior nostrils.
“you missed dinner, so I was gonna leave it by the door, but the wet footsteps told me you might be here.”
“you? not devouring the plate on the way here? maybe you’ve gained some self restraint after all.” you mumble as your face was smashed into the pillow.
lao chuckled before approaching the bed.
“could you atleast look at me when I say this?”
your tail swirled with interest and you raise your face out of the pillow just enough to peak at him.
“all the way.” he crossed his arms. you sigh before picking yourself up and pushing back the blankets. your tail snakes around you for self comfort before you look at him.
“i’m sorry.”
“not your fault.” your eyes went back to the floorboards, already feeling the tears well up.
“but it is. i accidentally pulled your tail and caused you to lash out. i totally would’ve understood if you scratched me to ribbons.”
“don’t say that! that’s the last thing I would’ve wanted!” you throw yourself back into the pillow.
“okay, okay. wrong phrasing. all i’m saying is that I take full responsibility for the way you reacted. i’m not hurt by it, no one else is hurt by it, so you shouldn’t be.”
you felt the bed dip and the plate clink against the nightstand.
“you know, my mom always did tell me if I kept messing with the cat, I would get scratched.”
“shut up.”
“okay.”
another loud boom of thunder had you grasping for the covers again.
“can you tell raiden to turn this thing off.” you try to jest as if you weren’t scared.
kung lao didn’t respond, so you turn your face to see what was up. he was staring at your hand which had his shirt bunched up in it instead of the covers. you squeak and push him off the bed as you pull back the covers and get under them again. not only scared, but embarrassed.
“I should probably leave and let you eat. raiden’s gonna question where I am if I don’t get back by curfew.” he stumbles over his words.
“you’re gonna go out there?”
it was coming down so hard that you couldn’t even see out the window. the wind was howling and the sky was dark. it was a really bad storm.
another growl from your stomach made you reach for the plate king Lao brought you. the bite mark in the chicken let you know lao’s self restraint was not as strong as you had thought it was. you still began to eat anyway.
“yeah, maybe not.”
“stay here.” “ok.”
the benefit to being the only woman in a monastery was that you got almost an entire wing to yourself.
you finish as kung lao finished making a pallet on the floor from the extra cushions he found in the closet.
he was just about to lay down when you threw a pillow at him.
“what was that for?” he feigned pain as he rubbed his head.
“are you seriously sleeping on the floor?
“yeah. why?”
“your back’s gonna be in knots in the morning.”
“as a thanks for bringing food, you can get ‘em out in the morning.”
“see I was gonna offer you a spot in the bed, but your mouth ruined it.” you end the conversation by turning away from him and getting real comfortable under the sheets.
“wait—“
“nope.” you cut it as you sigh contentedly.
“please?”
you hiss through your teeth and roll over only to be met with his form towering over you with a blanket and a pillow in his grasp. to makeup for the stutter in your heartbeat, you roll your eyes, but move over nonetheless.
the bed dips again but much heavier since he put his entire weight on it. you can feel his back touching you as he respectfully turns the other way. the storm is still going strong outside and there is a comfortable silence between you. surely, you thought, kung Lao is the type to go to sleep fast as your ears flutter hearing his breath even out.
but then another flash of lightning through the window followed by a bang of thunder makes you quickly toss the other way, now staring at kung Lao’s back. he must’ve felt the shifting because he sleepily reaches a hand back, feeling for you, before he pulls you closer to him. for comfort, you place an arm around his middle.
you’re still as you process your next move. he’s definitely sleep again, his back expanding and collapsing at an even pace. you find yourself matching the pace. he’s extremely warm too. you try hard to not press into him further as if you were attempting to steal that quality from him. you nose is close to the back of his neck and you can smell the hint of soap, but also the musk of the earth that reminded you that he was a farmer before this life.
you hadn’t even noticed how low your eyelids had dropped or that the storm was passing, giving way to the night sky and the stars. you decided not to fight against the drowsiness before succumbing to sleep. kung Lao had that stupid smirk plastered on his face even in his sleep as he heard and felt the reverberation of chuffing behind him.

Prepare for Trouble & Make it Double
A/N: I’ve been MIA. But only because I turned 21 😎. Of course I had to party during this holiday season. But I haven’t forgotten about this story and actually made progress in this chapter. Enjoy!
Warning: This chapter contains scenes of extreme violence and implied assault. Please read at your own discretion.
————————————————————————
“in testing, outcomes improved significantly.” the voice of shang tsung echoed through the laboratory as you, kenshi, johnny, and kung lao creeped through.
“liu kang was right. this guy really is a snake.” you added to the list of insults johnny and kung lao threw out before being pulled back into hiding by kenshi.
“so what now?” kung lao looked over at kenshi, liu kang’s proclaimed leader of the group for best course of action. he was interrupted by the 21st century superstar.
“this is my specialty, right y/n?” johnny looks over at you for your approval.
“johnny this isn’t a movie. you could get seriousl—“
not wanting his moment of glory to get diminished, he leaps into action, forcing you all to follow him. so much for those loose ends you told liu kang not to worry about.
you take your fighting stance. after your encounter with the large beast in the jungle, you asked one of the monks if it was possible to learn a fighting style just like it. thus, you claimed the ferocious tiger kung fu. it was hard and your hands hurt like a bitch at first, but with your sharp acrylics, you were soon slicing through skin and, on occasion, harder objects like wood.
now with your presence known, you ordered them to step away from the heir to the thrown. you were met with starch refusal from tanya, mileena’s personal guard.
“c’mon, sister. you have to realize that shang tsung is a poser. he’s jeopardizing the heir’s life.” you try to reason again.
“you are of no relation to me. and the business of Outworld has no relation with you!”
so maybe all skinfolk really aren’t kinfolk.
“get away from her!” kenshi ordered when he realized they were not going to comply easily.
“You bitch!”
“Johnny!” “Excuse me?”
“y/n, atleast tell me you get it.”
you didn’t get a chance to knock him on his ass as tanya and rain, the royal mage attacked, giving shang tsung another opportunity to flee. kenshi blocked an incoming attack from rain as you slid in behind him swiping your hardened nails against his skin, drawling blood. he cast a water bubble around you, lifting you up and away. you held your breath begging that kenshi or kung lao could free you. in the meantime, you watched johnny take a rough hit from tanya and kenshi stopping him from taking another damaging blow. suddenly you were dropped on your ass as kung lao tackled rain, breaking his concentration.
with rain and tanya defeated, you ran over to mileena’s side as you let them confront shang tsung.
“mileena, are you alright?”
“is it over?” she grumbled, she leaned into the touch before she realized that you were not apart of her trusted guard. in anger, you watched as her body begins trembling, her eyes turned to slits and her mouth was becoming grotesquely large and sharp as you witnessed with baraka. the commotion alerted the group who ran to your aid.
“i got her! you keep a lookout!” you yelled as you tussled with the princess. she proved to be an incredible feat. but in the fight for your life, you were keeping up. you focused on defense, not wanting to cause further harm to her in fear of what you might have to deal with as a consequence later. however, your muscles were growing tired, the onslaught of mileena’s unwavering attacks wearing you down. fortunately, kung lao and johnny grabbed her from behind, holding her down as shang tsung prepared the serum. you hunched over in a quick attempt to catch your breath.
but just as quickly, mileena broke free from the grasp of lao and johnny before reaching for her sai and charging kenshi. you tried to intercept but in a moment of desperation, you slipped on the water rain had left behind in your debacle. you could only watch in horror as she lodged her weapons deep within kenshi’s eye sockets.
“kenshi!”
you gripped the floorboards in anguish and shang tsung grabbed mileena and subdued her with the serum.
there was no time to mourn, as you crawled the rest of the way to kenshi and placed his head in your lap. you tried to ignore the gruesome details of his face, opting to ensuring he was still alive. in that moment, the doors swung open, revealing the rest of the Outworld entourage. yet again, you made no attempt to make out what was being said.
you were broken out of your stupor when you realized that johnny and kung lao hit the ground also. you didn’t wait to see if you would meet the same fate, you hovered over kenshi and shut your eyes, waiting for impact.
“no, goro. just take her away with the rest of them.” you recognized that voice, yet didn’t dare turn to meet the disappointed and hurt gaze of princess kitana.
there were tears running down your cheeks at how horribly wrong the mission hard turned out as you cradled kenshi’s head in your arms.
you knew that she would not want to hear your pleas or anything that johnny had tried to offer earlier, so you thanked her for her kindness instead as they forced you to your feet and confined your arms. they led you down dark, decrepit halls and stairways before shoving you inside a cell with the rest of your teammates, baraka was caught outside and brought in too. once alone, you tried to wake them up but to no avail. you could only wait with bated breath at your impending doom, left only with the sound of dripping liquid to tell how much time had passed.
————————
surprisingly, kenshi awoke first.
watching out for his wounds, you hugged him and announced that you thought he was dead. you didn’t wait a minute longer to rip a piece of your still wet outfit off in favor or wiping off the remnants of blood and tissue from his face, muttering a ‘sorry’ every time he groaned or hissed in pain. and now without sight, baraka was making it no better on his ears as he kept rattling the prison door.
“why must he keep doing that…” kenshi groaned, now sat up against the wall at your request.
“lucky for you, it doesn’t look pretty down here,” he would ignore that for now as he knew you weren’t trying to be insensitive about his new condition.
“seems like we made it to shang tsung’s real lab. and the specimen are… interesting, if that’s the right word.” you answer.
“more like abhorrent.” baraka corrected.
“yeah, they are gross in fact.” you co-signed.
a silence over took the cell with lao and johnny still out cold.
you watched as kenshi began feeling on the ground, looking for something.
“what are you look—feeling for?” you tilt your head.
“you. keep talking will you,” another hiss of pain. “to keep my mind occupied on… other things.”
“of course.”
you babbled on and on. not only trying to push any looming thoughts of death out of your own head, but for kenshi’s comfort also. baraka even joined the conversation, telling the story of how his life was before the disease that inflicted him.
a familiar groan interrupted the flow, one that sounded like one too many drinks after the premiere of a movie he starred in.
“johnny! you’re alive! how’s your head?” you launched yourself into him with the same enthusiasm you gave kenshi.
“so it takes me almost dying to be nice to me again.” johnny chuckles are he returns your embrace. fixing his blurry vision, he can make out the figure leaning against the wall.
“kenshi! goddamnit, how bad’s the pain?”
“excruciating.” his monotone voice showed no signs of it.
in the midst of johnny coming back to reality, lao began to stir as well. you leaned over and turned his head side-to-side, looking for any abrasions or signs of serious harm. he grabbed your hands and grinned before muttering “i’m fine.”
once again, you found yourself pulling him to his feet as baraka explained that you had found shang tsung’s true lab. that meant that liu kang’s hunch was right and that he must be fooling the Outworlders into thinking that you all were the threat.
as you came to your conclusion, a door at the end of the long, dark hallway opened revealing… not shang tsung.
“how is he?”
“wanna find out?” you ask gruffly, arms crossed in an effort to make yourself as intimidating as the rest of the guys in the cell.
“this should help dull the pain.” through the bars, he handed johnny a salve. you were quick to rip off another ribbon from your outfit and handed it to him. he applied a liberal amount of the salve onto the ribbon before gently tying it around kenshi’s eye sockets.
it seemed to have immediate effect as kenshi let out a sigh of contentment.
baraka berated this newcomer in a growl.
“you may be a prisoner, but I am his slave,” the man spoke simply.
“he has my family. he’ll kill them if I don’t obey.”
your eyes widened. “then help us and i swear, i’ll make it a mission to help you get your family back.”
the man saw the steeled determination in your eyes and wondered what you had been through to convey such an emotion. he couldn’t give any thought to your promise as baraka questioned him. you found out more about him, his name — syzoth, and more importantly, his race — zarterran. before your very human eyes, you watch as he shapeshifted into a lizard like creature.
lao confirmed that this must’ve been how shang stung learned to shapeshifte as he exhibited in your battle with the Tarkan colony.
you were gonna throw out your original suggestion again when shang tsung made his appearance. appearing like a wizard out of a cloud of smoke.
“are they ready?”
“monologue in 3…2…” you point at him and like clockwork, he rambles on about the experiments he had planned to try on you all and that his master plan was already under way. you were already agitated and scared for your life, you’d rather get it out the way already if you were to die regardless.
“yada yada ya. can we get on with it already?”
shang tsung looked surprised but disgust shone through as you interrupted him. with a wave of his hand, syzoth got to work of releasing you from your cells… along with his creations.
“you stay back and watch kenshi!” lao ordered as he, johnny, and baraka battled less fortunate tarkatans.
that goal was ripped to sheds when three of them grabbed you and kenshi before shoving you in smaller, individual cages.
you wouldn’t be useless from here. you yelled out cues and commands from your cage to help the remaining kombatants fight against the enemy. you were ecstatic about your progress when baraka defeated the last tarkatan klone, but perhaps you spoke too soon as syzoth flipped a switch that released a behemoth version of his kind.
but with minor cuts and bruises, your heroes made it out alive. baraka then ran over to you before ripping the bars of your cage.
“you could do that the whole time!”
he did not respond and ripped the bars off of kenshi’s cage also. he collapsed and leaned into johnny and lao, relying on them to lead him.
you lead the way by making a run for the door you saw syzoth enter through.
“you can’t just leave! shang tsung will punish me by torturing my family!” you heard the frustration in syzoth’s voice and part of you wanted to stop for his sake.
“my offer still stands. join us in fighting him and we will see to it that your family is freed.” you turn and plead also.
baraka was having none of it. as much as he wanted your kindness to work, he was more focused on escaping and so he and syzoth entered kombat.
when baraka came out victorious, syzoth’s mood turned dejected and he begged to be killed.
baraka’s gravelly voice echoed within the chambers, “i suggest you take the woman’s offer as i will not murder you.”
with impeccable timing, shang tsung appeared again, this time the smile disappearing on his face when he saw you all alive. johnny quickly located sento and you stood before syzoth.
like a scolded puppy, syzoth shrunk in on himself and shang tsung berated him.
“we’re leaving.” is all you had to say to him.
“and you’re coming with us. you’ll explain this whole thing to liu kang and the Outworlders.” johnny added.
“except i won’t.” with a wave of his arms and some words you didn’t understand, shang tsung disappeared in a cloud of green smoke that caused you to cough.
“that’s my cue to leave. I bid you all a farewell. and don’t look so dejected syzoth. I’m reuniting you with your family.”
your eyes widened as you look over to syzoth for his reaction. “syzoth, i’m so sorry,” but your words fell on deaf ears.
he lunged to attack him, but in typical wizard-like fashion, shang had disappeared. you cover your mouth and cough as the thick smoke entered your lungs.
johnny placed a hand on your back, “we gotta get out of here.”
syzoth ran to the door he entered in and tried to push, you also tried to give him a hand, but the door just wouldn’t budge.
“it’s locked!”
“out of the way.” baraka gruffed. you happily obliged. in 3 brutal hits, he tore the door from its hinges allowing you all the escape.
“leave me. i’ll just slow you down.” kenshi stumbled.
“are you out of your mind?” you glare as though he could he could see you.
“if shang tsung finds you, he’ll kill you!” Johnny states matter-of-factly.
“look at me, i’m useless. don’t risk your liveds to save mine.” he hissed through his teeth.
“you have a family to return to, kenshi. a purpose to fulfill. we made a promise that we’d help each other reach our goals.” you trot backwards and project your voice in hopes that kenshi could tell you were speaking directly to him.
————————
the sun felt great on your skin as you made your way out of the deep, dark confines of shang’s lab. you took lungfuls of the fresh air.
johnny and lao had continued to lead Kenshi through the lush greenery, helping him avoid stones and tree roots. you all moved at a hasty pace not wanting to be recaptured and sent to the Outworld prison for a misunderstanding. once there, it seemed like your journey with baraka and syzoth would be cut short.
“i’m really sorry about your family syzoth. i know the pain of losing family.”
an awkward smile is all that you were offered. you would hold off on conversation to allow the man to grieve.
instead, you turned your attention to the sounds of the wildlife. the birds chirping, the crunch of leaves, and something else you had trouble identifying. no one else seemed to have heard it so you left it alone.
“man, this place gives me the creeps. it reminds me of —“ you allow yourself to fall into pace with johnny and allow him to make his movie references.
“i think it’s pretty, no?” you responded to his rant.
“how could I be so sure when I have the real beauty looking me in the face?” he wriggles his eyebrows at you.
rolling your eyes at his antics, you fake gag.
baraka was quick to correct johnny’s assumption about the forest by sharing the story of it and how it was made up of the souls of the dead.
“must be a lot of tigers around here.” you commented.
“what?” kenshi tilted his head in confusion.
“in Chinese culture, the tiger is the protector of the dead. is that what you mean?” kung lao spoke up.
“yeah! I read something about it back home.” you chimed.
“what’s got you interested in China? looking for something. maybe, someone?” it was kung lao’s turn to wiggle his eyebrows.
if kenshi still had his eyes, they’d be rolling in his skull right about now.
“there must be a lot of death near the monastery then because I—“ you stopped in your tracks. this caused Johnny to bump into you. Kenshi gripped his shoulder tighter to avoid toppling over.
“what’s wrong? we must keep moving if we wish to escape with our lives.” syzoth turned to notice the disarray amongst yourselves.
“ok. you all definitely should’ve heard that.” you accuse:
“heard what?” baraka says, a little irritated.
“listen!”
the breeze blew gently through the trees.
“maybe we need to have the monks check you out too. you still may be a little shaken up about what we saw in the lab.” johnny put his hand on your shoulder.
“you can forget about recording too and rest. this has definitely not been the experience I thought it was gonna be.”
“johnny~” you whine exasperatedly. you look at him with puppy eyes, pleading with him to hear what you hear.
“ok. what am i supposed to be hearing.”
“the birds stopped chirping! and something keeps stepping on sticks or something!”
“y/n, we are in a forest. these are typical forest sounds.” even kung lao was concerned. he even offered to carry you back if you weren’t feeling well without the usual pride in his voice.
“no, i think something’s following us.” your eyes skirt around your surroundings to see if you could spot the culprit.
“i wouldn’t put it past that wicked sorcerer. which is why we need to keep moving.” baraka insisted and he left no room for argument as he marched on, forcing the rest of you to walk with him.
you didn’t even make it 10 feet before you yelled “watch out!” and tackled kung lao to the ground. an arrow wizzed past where his head would’ve been. immediately, kenshi was pushed in the middle of a protective circle as you all faced the forest waiting for the culprit to reveal themselves. with a rustle from the bushes, a figure emerged.
they wore a deep red cloak that was floor length. within the material were intricate patterns that looked to be weaved with gold. you couldn’t even make out their face as it seemed to be covered in shadows along with the rest of their body. they made no sound, at least not vocally.
“what do you want? we’ve no time for games. let us pass!” syzoth exclaimed. you could tell that he did not expect to leave without a scuffle as he had already prepared his fighting stance.
the individual still didn’t make a sound. instead, it raised a hand and extended a pointed figure at you.
“hey, i called dibs years ago, get your own assistant.” johnny said.
it took his response as an answer and let out a gruff, but no further statement. Yet, it continued to point at you. slowly, kung lao pushed you into the protective circle so that the “person” didn’t have a clear view of you.
it didn’t like that either as it let out a screech and suddenly a convoy of men rushed from their hiding spots in the forest to surround you all.
“what’s going on?” kenshi began feeling around on the ground as johnny had to abandon being his guide in favor of being protection.
“it looks like we’re under attack, again. it seems like they want something to do with me.” you help him to his feet.
another figure stepped forward and looked to be more human. they confirmed that when they spoke.
“that girl is to come with us. she owes us.”
“i don’t owe you shit! i don’t even know you.” you peak over baraka’s shoulder.
“oh but you do, girl. we were there in the forest where you deprived us of our game.”
“game?” this guy was doing nothing to help jog your memory.
“yes, our god sent us a sign to let us know that our rise to power was just beginning, but you!” his voice raised in outrage and he brought out his machete to point at you much like the first figure.
the unveiling of his weapon made the rest of the army unveil theirs also. The dragging of metal from hilts cause a sharp pain in your ears.
“you went and let it go.” he finished.
“the tiger?” you whispered.
“yes, now you remember. And for that, you must come with us and reap what you sow.”
“i will do no such thing.” you squinted your eyes and hardened your gaze.
“then you and your friends will die.”
without hesitation, the front row of soldiers attacked.
“y/n, take kenshi and keep going!” johnny ordered before jumping into battle. with their hands full, you tried to lead kenshi as quickly as you could lead a blind man through the thick brush of the forest. there were soldiers closing in behind but you managed to duck under vines and over roots as you ran.
however, all hopes were dashed when you ran to a dead end. The only way to freedom was to climb up a cliff edge.
“y/n, why have we stopped?”
you didn’t answer, rather, you wracked your brain for a solution. running through hundreds of scenarios, but they all ended the same. one or both of you would die. you looked at kenshi’s face as it scrunched up in fear and concern. behind you, you could hear shouting and yelling from the pack.
you bottom lip wobbled as you tried to come to terms with your choice. your eyes started watering and kenshi could feel your shoulders heaving under his grasp.
“y/n, what’s wrong?” he asked more hastily. your unusual silence put him at unease, but soon he was forced to move again. imagine his further confusion as he was made to sit on the ground as you removed his hand from your shoulder. he could hear the snapping of twigs and the rustling of leaves as they were brought near him. it didn’t take long for him to figure out what you were doing.
“no,” he started off.
“kenny—“
“no!” he shouted, voice shaky.
you had no time to explain to him why and you felt horrible for leaving him with this memory of you after fighting so hard for his approval before. you forced yourself into his arms and wrapped your arms around him tight.
“they shouldn’t find you here. you can still save your family.”
you then broke from him quickly, unable to imagine the destroyed state you would leave him in before running off.
kenshi sat in disbelief. soon he heard the rush of the hunters pass by him as they searched for you. he could only hope that johnny and the others were okay.
now, there was truly no where to go. at another dead end, you tried to go right only to be met with a gang of hunters. trying to break left led you to another gang. they had backed you into a corner.
“here kitty, kitty.” the voice from earlier taunted.
none of liu kang’s words were sticking at the moment as you tried to rack your brain for something he would say or do in this situation. but nothing. tears welled up in your eyes at how you had failed his expectations, of how kung lao or raiden would remember you after signing their gleaming approval to your champion status. most importantly, of how lonely and miserable johnny would become without you to hold him to his standard.
“oh hush now, it’ll all be over soon.”
no matter of what may come after your death, you did not want to go down without a fight, and so you wiped the tears and snot on your sleeve before entering your fighting stance.
“ahh, so you do have spirit in you.”
a gang of hunters launched an attack which you blocked before lunging towards them, using the tiger form that you were taught at the monastery, you went for cartilage and tissue that would render your victims immobile. Bringing out a knife from your boot, you slashed one guy’s Achilles’ tendon, slashed another guy’s cartilage behind his knee and managed to catch the other two in the jugular and the cranium.
another group launched their attack and put you in the defensive. Having weapons of their own, you winced as a couple of their sharpened weapons grazed you and quickly tried to regain your composure when fists made contact with your skin. still you pushed on and managed to defeat another 7.
but by now, you were bloodied and bruised. a bruise had began to form under your eye and your lip was busted. there were multiple slashed through your clothes that left bleeding wounds to stain them. your head ached and your vision was spinning. tired, you still brought your fists up before you as the gang leader from before approached you. you brought your arm back to punch him but he simply sidestepped you. stumbling in the dirt, you turn around to throw another punch but it seems like he beat you to it. he sent a brutal punch that caught you right in the jaw. it genuinely made you dizzy as you tumbled to the floor onto your hands and knees. something was tumbling in your mouth and you went to spit it out. you were met with the sight of a tooth and blood.
“men, it seems like we have tamed this one.”
loud cheers surrounded you on all sides. the thunderous clapping alerted you to the fact that you would have never made it out alive. the blood on the ground mixed with tears as they spilled from your bruised eyes.
“please,” you start.
“what do you want from me?”
he kneeled in front of you, grabbing you by the chin to look at him.
“like i said, you have a spirit in you. and we are going to claim it.”
multiple hands grabbed at you and pinned you down, their nails digging into your flesh. your shirt was shimmied up to free your stomach. you began wildly thrashing in their grip. the man had climbed on top of you, sitting on your hips as he brought out his knife.
“STOP!”
he began chanting something with ferocious intensity before he began to slowly begin making an incision. blood droplets immediately began forming around the blade and a searing pain spread through you.
“NO!”
———————————————————————
a thunderous screech came from deep within the forest that sent the birds flocking in the other direction as baraka finished off the last of the henchmen.
“y/n and kenshi went that way!” johnny ran towards the sound without any hesitation.
syzoth tracked them by following the footsteps left behind when he tripped over a rather large boulder.
“kenshi!” kung lao helped the man to his feet and brushed off the leaves and sticks that surprisingly hid him well.
“where is she?”
“she’s not with you?” johnny panicked.
“she… i think she sacrificed herself. she demanded i stay here and lured them away elsewhere. there were too many. i fear she—“
“which way did she go?” johnny would not allow him to finish that sentence.
another scream answered for him.
“y/n!” he dashed, the others close behind.
they made it just in time to see the ring leader thrust a knife into your stomach.
your scream sent a chill down their spines.
just before they could jump into action and retaliate, they were blinded by a light.
the high pitched screaming had gradually become a guttural roar.
there was cracking and screaming before a loud silence took over the forest. syzoth had turned back towards where you had been to instead see a large tiger standing over the ring leader. this was no regular tiger, this was a brute at around 9 feet at the shoulder. the man was brutally mangled and unrecognizable at its feet. better yet, he was dead. blood and drool wept from the muzzle of the large man eating beast. the rest of the cult sat in fear and disbelief. no one made any sudden movement as the large tiger eyed the crowd.
clang clang!
all heads turned to the soldier who had dropped his weapon. he shook like a leaf in a hurricane as he met the eyes of the savage animal. at the sight of the sharpened silver, the tiger was triggered into action and lept in that direction. the campions watched as they scrambled over one another to escape but to no avail, the tiger had no mercy and left no one alive. its claws and teeth cut through the flesh like butter and a hot knife. And with its large form, it made large strides, bounding from one side to the other with no problem. some cult members bumped shoulders with them as the lucky ones escaped back to whatever hole they crawled out of. when the tiger sensed that it was no longer in danger, it let out another roar that reverberated through them —a warning. then it was like watching an actor break character as it whimpered in pain. it circled in place before carefully laying down.
johnny stepped out from their hiding spot among the bushes.
“are you stupid? that thing will maul you!” kung lao whisper-yelled.
“if you’ve been paying attention, that thing is y/n and I am going to help her.”
the tiger’s nostrils flared at the scent of a new intruder. if what Johnny said is true, you had no energy to move and allowed johnny to approach, but not without deep growls that seemed to shake the earth.
“you got this johnny,” he whispered to himself.
“just like Owen Grady and Blue, Hiccup and Toothless.”
“i can’t watch!” syzoth covered his eyes.
“i’m glad i can’t watch.” kenshi resigned.
johnny turned his face away, not wanting to bear witness to the amputation of his own arm if things go wrong. rather than sharp teeth, he was met with soft fur and chuffing.
“you’re alright. they’re dead and gone and you’re okay. you did it.” johnny whispered and he kept stroking the fur on your head.
you laid your large head in his lap and closed your eyes, basking in the feeling of the fact that you were alive and johnny’s heartbeat confirmed that.
when the other’s stepped out from their hiding spot among the bushes, you had reverted back to your human form. now, they were able to bear witness to the bruises and wounds you had.
“are you sure that she’s not from Outworld? She may be something like syzoth.” baraka asked.
“i- I’m not sure.” johnny answered, eyebrows furrowed.
“she ok?” kenshi asked worriedly as he followed kung lao.
“mentally, i doubt it. physically, also not looking too good. she’s out cold and there’s no telling how long she’ll be out for.”
“hopefully, this is the last of this foolishness. we must get a move on if you wish to get your wounded back home.” baraka began walking again, leaving little time to mourn or celebrate. kenshi was handed off again to johnny while kung lao picked up your comatose form before following. it was not the last of the foolishness.

Not Feline Too Good
A/N: omg the semester I just had… anyways, sorry for being M.I.A for a bit. I made it home for the Winter Break and decided to take some time for myself and family. Also to celebrate my sister’s birthday and my own tomorrow! I also needed time to think about advance the plot and development of my character. I’ve settled in now and hope you enjoy the new addition to the series. This should be like the last filler part before all the action takes place. Hope you enjoy!!!
the restful week had passed and you soon found yourself back at the Wu Shi Academy, this time as an active participant rather than a spectator.
you sat among the jungle that surrounded the palace of the fire god in a meditative state, the lush grass bending in the slight breeze. liu kang had incentivized you to do so in part of your training to become one of Earthrealm’s champions. meanwhile, the boys would continue their physical training. you tried to push out any thoughts that made their way to the front of your brain but it became increasingly difficult with the surrounding sounds of nature.
it should be calming, but the rustling of leaves in the wind, branches crackling, and small critters playing around had you thinking about your place among them, you had yet to make the distinction if it was natural or not.
more noises entered your brain, the pitter-patter of paws as they hit the ground, the clinking of metal, the wail of an animal — wait a second…
successfully pulled from your attempt at meditation, you spin your head to figure out what direction the sound had come from. another wail put you in the right direction.
your moves were soft and calculated, you attempted to make no noise in hopes you wouldn’t scare the creature further. approaching a clearing, the first thing you saw were black and orange stopes, making identifying the creature easy.
i should’ve stayed my black ass at home.
you thought as you were facing the back of a tiger. an angry tiger that was caught in a trap nonetheless. you immediately made a move to turn around and let any nearby monks know of the predicament, surely they were better prepared for this. but then you heard shouting in the distance, human voices. the tiger thrashed its head around in a frenzy, trying to escape but only pulling on its injured leg more. in its attempted escape, it made eye contact with you.
you stilled. it stilled. the jungle suddenly became eerily silent. the voices were becoming closer and the tiger got more and more agitated. surely, it did not want to see what was on the other side. you raised your hands in front of you and crouched, making yourself appear smaller to it. what the fuck am i doing?!
your heart was pounding and the silence was so deafening you could hear the blood pumping in your ears. you inched closer and closer, your hands never leaving the tiger’s vision as if that were to convey that you weren’t a threat like whoever was looking for it. it growled as you approached and you stilled again.
“do you want my help or not?” you backed away a little and suddenly it seemed to understand your intentions. it chuffed. almost beckoning you to approach again. taking a deep breath, you got to a point where you could reach over and mess with the trap, you made no move to get closer.
you finally break eye contact to take a look at the trap. a standard bear trap. you go to touch it and the tiger growls again. this time, you feel it reverberate through you due to your proximity. so you remove your hand.
“look,” you point at it as if it were some common house cat, your eyes a bit grounded now as you look the large creature in the face, “you’re trying to get away from something and I’m trying to help.
do you want to be someone’s throw rug or continue frolicking through the jungle?”
it turned its head away from you with a gruff. you take a look around until you are able to find the release switch, then you maneuver your fingers through the teeth and pry it open until all of a sudden, the tiger snatches it’s paw from the trap. frightened, you squeak and quickly pull your fingers out as the trap went off again, nearly taking them clean off.
you fall back on your butt with your arms covering your face preemptively. peaking through your shut eyes, you see the tiger standing over you. you can take in its large stature now from its standing position. it was easily twice your size. the growling returned, this time, drool dripped from its barred teeth. you wanted to curse a god - liu kang, perhaps - about your predicament. how you went out trying to be nice and instead of praise, you were mauled to death by a maneater.
as the tiger’s face inched closer, you pleaded with it not to eat you. you felt it’s cold nose press against your chest and take a deep inhale. with shaky hands, you place your hands on either side of its face, fingers threaded through the fur in case you had to forcefully remove it.
suddenly there was rustling nearby and both you and the beast whipped your heads to look at the source. as quickly as it was on you, it had receded to the tree line with a newfound limp. you propped yourself on your elbows to look at it as it slinked away. before disappearing completely, it turned its large head back to you and gave you one last chuff.
“there you are.” a familiar voice broke you out of your staring contest. “you okay?” raiden asked, seeing your blown eyes and messy form. you look one last time at where the tiger had gone, but it wasn’t there.
“yeah.”
——————————————
you threw a punch towards kung lao who used his forearm to redirect it. you replanted yourself as to not fall over and used your non-dominant arm to send another punch which he dodged. now on the defensive, you quickly brought your arms into an x to block his kick which sent you back a bit. still standing, you came out of your defensive position only to find him running directly toward you. you internally panicked, looking left and right to find an escape. to your left you could see your spectators: liu kang, johnny, raiden, and kenshi who would soon make the decision on whether or not you could be support on the mission the god of fire had yet to disclose you on. kung lao was closer now, you could see him winding back to land a strike on you. with approximately 3 seconds until impact, your neurons raced on adrenaline, trying to rack your brain for any reaction.
you found it as you pulled one of your solo lessons with liu kang from the back of your brain. “face your fears or face defeat every time” he said as he threw a couple combos of his own, leaving you on your ass each time you hesitated or tried to run from him. in his assessment he mentioned one thing that stood out to you, “you seem to be stronger and sturdier when you use your core and legs, i suggest you use them more often.” you were broken out of your head when you heard johnny cheering for you.
“kick his ass y/n!”
you know what you must do. as kung lao reared his arm back, you took a form similar to a handstand to plant yourself on your arms, effectively raising your lower half in the air. carrying the momentum through, you bring your legs back and scorpion kicked kung lao right in the face, breaking his flow. he grabbed his nose trying to recuperate from the blow. still maintaining the handstand, you use one arm to grab on to his leg. he looks down at you in confusion and sees you sticking your tongue out at him before finishing your roundoff, dragging him to the ground. you were careful to not land on his face, planting both feet just beside his chest. his razor hat which he usually smugly wore had rolled off in the direction of the spectators before spinning and wobbling until it stopped right by liu kang’s feet.
“wooooo! i told you she would win. she’s had to manage like, multiple fangirls for me.” johnny said while nudging raiden’s side.
“the rules were that the first person on the ground longer than 3 seconds loses. y/n wins.” liu kang said with a smile on his face.
you reach down to help kung lao from the ground which he gladly accepts though he brushes himself off to hide his damaged ego. you walk over to his prized hat and pick it up, placing it on your own head.
“y/n - 2, kung lao - 0” you crossed your arms and held your head high.
“actually kung lao - 1. you nearly cried the first time you were partnered.” kenshi broke your confident smile. he snatched kung lao’s hat from your head and returned it to its rightful owner who accepted it graciously. you turn to him and flip him off as liu kang rolled his eyes at your childish behavior. he cleared his throat which caused all the commotion to halt immediately. you lined up amongst the men, standing between kenshi and raiden. from an outside perspective, the height difference would be laughable.
“well, we had a deal did we not? all those in favor of solidifying y/n’s position as one of Earthrealm’s protectors speak now.” liu kang turned to raiden first.
“i accept.” raiden shot you a smile as he was the one who spoke highly of you to liu kang in the first place.
“i accept.” kung lao nodded. he felt more confident in your ability to hold your own after you beat him, the smug bastard.
“for sure.” johnny said with no hesitation. he felt a swell of pride in his chest at your growing smile with each member’s approval.
“i do not…” kenshi began. you felt your heart skip a few beats. you held back tears from building in your eyes. you were sure that you had worked out your differences, “disagree with the others.”
“i am so gonna beat your ass, takahashi.” johnny said before you could begin to put a curse on his bloodline.
“oh it was just a joke, cage. she’s clearly capable of holding her own.” kenshi clapped a hand on your back.
“well then it is settled.” liu kang sent you a look that ‘i told you so’, as if he knew this would happen.
“now as for your mission. raiden and i will head to the capital of Outworld as he must conduct diplomatic business as Earthrealm’s champion. it will also double as cover for your whereabouts. you four must find this man and bring him back for questioning.
he handed kenshi the scroll which he unraveled to show a man with long hair who wore a smirk that definitely said ‘i am up to no good’.
“yes. If what I fear has happened, he is a grave threat to the realms.”
“shang tsung is a master of deceit —“
“oh so like a pathological liar.” you interrupt.
“Do not trust a word he utters.”
“sounds a lot like my first agent.” johnny joked.
kenshi sent you both a look. “and these are the tools we need to get the job done? can we have support from some of the monks?” obviously referring to you too.
“your words don’t hurt me takahashi. you complimented me earlier so no take-backs.” you crossed your arms and turned your face away from him in mock disgust. you stood closer to the silent observer kung lao.
“‘this one’ has all the requirements for the job.” johnny walked up, nearly bumping chests with kenshi.
liu kang stopped the argument from getting any further, “This mission must be done quietly. By sending you on this mission, I am breaking my word with Empress Sindel by sending you there against her knowledge.”
“i assure you kangaroo, i will cover our tracks. it’s what i do best.” you smile trying to air out the tension.
“is that a diss towards me or — ow!” you stepped on johnny’s foot to shut him up.
liu kang also handed kenshi a talisman that he said would help guide you to his location like a GPS.
“be careful,” he looked at kenshi. “and may the Elder God’s protect you.”
—————————————————————
to say you weren’t tired would make you no better than a liar that Shang Tsung was said to be. the men were much taller which meant that you had to take more strides to keep up with them. the armored gear did nothing but weigh you down and make you sweat in the desert-like heat. you even made them stop a couple times to dump sand out of your shoes.
johnny spoke for you when groaned and asked, “are we there yet?”
“how old are you again? five?” kenshi spoke without looking behind him as he led the group. you lagged behind with kung lao keeping casual conversation as you let the duo duke it out how they typically do.
“so kung lao, what did you do back in…”
“fengjian,” he finished for you. “i was a humble farmer.”
“‘humble’ farmer turned warrior. i’m sure this is doing wonders for your ego.” you rolled your eyes and twirled your locs, bored and wanting to keep your hands busy.
“what about you?”
“easy. i was orphaned and became johnny’s assistant.” you answered a bit too quickly for kung lao’s liking.
“so was that like right after the other or?” he tried to coax a little more out.
“oh no. i was jumping through orphanage after orphanage until i aged out of the system. i was already a teenager when my family died and no one wants damaged goods. they all want a baby they can pass as theirs. with what little money i had made through jobs, i booked a ticket for L.A and didn’t look back.”
“surely you had other family that could’ve taken you in.” lao tilted his head in confusion.
“they all think i should’ve died that night too.”
“oh.”
“it’s alright. then, when i made it to L.A, i got a job as a cleaning lady under a company and slept in a cardboard fort.”
“i’m sorry —“ you quickly cut him off.
“don’t be. it was the most fabulous cardboard fort the world had ever seen. then as any fan fiction would go, my serviced were hired out to johnny. since he’s a millennial superstar, current technology and trends aren’t really his strong suit. i’m young and love trends so i helped him with how to cash out on social media. he loved it, his fans loved it, and so he went looking for me one day for more ideas and saw the state of my life. i’ll never know why he took a chance on me, but i owe him everything.”
you look forward to see johnny dragging his feet in the sand like a child being made to take their first steps. you laugh to yourself about how your description of a man wanting to help the less fortunate sure didn’t behave like the man who was featured in Forbes’ ’30 Under 30’.
“guess i was wrong about him.” lao sighed.
“johnny just doesn’t cope very well. his job is to make others happy, even when he isn’t all the time. try that for a week and i think you’d be more appreciative that he acts like this rather than some grump like kenshi often is.”
“these boots surely weren’t meant for walking.” johnny complained again.
suddenly, all the compassion kung lao felt went out of the window at the reference.
“if that’s all the pain you’ll feel today, consider yourself lucky.” he said almost unconsciously.
“oh, im feeling lucky. i’ve got Sento strapped to my back.”
“oh, that’s not the flex you think it is.” you winced as johnny had undone your work of trying to make him look good.
“i will reclaim it, cage.” kenshi’s voice had turned cold.
‘i will never speak proudly about a white man again’ you thought to yourself
“are you not cold?” you asked lao as you crossed your arms over your chest to brace against the chill that had begun to take effect.
“no. why?” his focus turning back to you.
“you’re always sleeveless. are you not impacted by the weather? you trying to impress someone by being a manwhore with your arms out?”

“is it working?”
“i regret asking.”
you were broken out of your conversation when you approached kenshi and johnny arguing. you only caught the last of it.
“i got out. i need my clan out, too! we can’t be apart of their crimes any longer.”
the talisman glowing is what stopped kenshi’s death glare from actually killing johnny.
you and kung lao walked passed johnny who remained still. lao, the ever so petty, flashed the light in his face like a mic-drop.
“y/n, help me out here” he started.
“i’m sure you deserved it.” you kept walking, a little irritated at his behavior.
you finally arrived upon a town that looked to be in shambles. you caught johnny looking at you out of the corner of you eye and so with a sigh, you brought out your phone to record the altercation you were witnessing.
the people were disfigured to say the least. their lips pulled back to reveal rows of teeth. their skin looked as though it was made of stone blades as they fought back against the palace guards.
“shang tsung is here.” kenshi said as a matter-of-fact.
“there.” you point out a figure who held a syringe before plunging it into one of the disfigured people.
“this reminds me of..” johnny started.
“this reminds me of how i’m telling your fans you sleep with 10 stuffed animals when this is done.” you turn to him to return a look that says there is a time and place.
silence.
“jokes on you, they already know.” he muttered.
you were interrupted by the beginning of a coup as the group of beings started to retaliate against Shang Tsung and his followers. Just as Shang Tsung was getting engaged, you spoke.
“is this the part where we join in or?” you said, looking to kenshi.
“seems like they’re doing fine without us.” johnny took a step back.
“liu kang needs him alive.” is all kenshi said before leaping into battle. all you could do was follow your self-imposed leader.
kenshi grabbed the man before he could finish shang tsung. he kicked kung lao and johnny as they each went in for their attacks. you watched that in his moment of rest, shang tsung transformed in to one of the disfigured beings before sneaking off.
“i would have killed him but for you!” the man’s voice was gravely. you stepped forth between kenshi and the large brute. you held your hands up as to signal peace.
“understandable, but we’re hear to retrieve him so he may face punishment for his crimes alive.”
“then you will die.” oh ok.
“i’ll handle him, you go help cage and kung lao hold off the others.” he didn’t have to tell you twice.
you held your own. it seems as if the others did not possess the ability to form blades as the man you encountered just before. you focused on providing support and assist whenever kung lao or johnny got tired or faced multiple opponents. as small as you were, it worked as you often evaded attacks and attempts to grab you.
you look back over your shoulder to see kenshi had worn the brute out, but the others were still closing in.
kenshi made quick work to dispatch tension and explain the situation. and as he attempted to make a friendly gesture, the brute introduced himself as baraka and told you all that their appearance is an effect of a disease called Tarkat. by his explanation, it was to your understanding that these were a doomed people.
with kenshi as your negotiator, baraka stood the army of Tarkatans down and allowed you to pass.
“the talisman…” you pointed out. it had gone out.
“i know where to find him.“ baraka’s gravelly voice sounded.
“then by all means.” kung lao stepped back to let baraka lead the way.
“great. more walking.” johnny muttered and rolled his eyes.

now this is definitely something. this is poetic in a way. I have no words but for this to be someone’s first post on this app, I’m delighted.
Paris, France
Author’s Note: i got the foundation of this from “What’s Mine is Yours” by DoflamingosStrings on ao3 and i couldn’t help but insert my OC as i headcannon that the Fantastic Four plus my OC would have qualifications of a poly!queer platonic (questionable) relationship. A little background, my OC, Adelaide, is an unapologetically black fem who is Johnny’s agent and social media manager. She’s more comedic relief, but also takes no shit. In my headcannon, she follows the quartet into Outworld at Johnny’s request and starts off as more of a spectator (essentially doing all the recording that you see Johnny do in story mode). However, she becomes a kombatant by subduing Mileena, saving Kenshi’s sight. A little joke is that she threatens to get Johnny cancelled for colonial behavior had he not given Sento back to Kenshi. This is more so an extension of DoflamingosStrings’s work, as if the couples’ mingling has gone on for a while now. Everything else remains relatively the same.
WARNING: MDNI. This fic contains graphic descriptions of sexual activity including threesomes - M/M/F, PIV intercourse, anal sex, oral sex (fem and male receiving), dom/sub dynamics and more. Read at your own risk!

Kenshi hunched over the kitchen counter, reveling in the smell and taste of the freshly brewed coffee Adelaide had made him before she and Johnny left for a meeting about future roles. He felt a pair of arms wrap around him, breaking him out of his quiet solace.
“Finally, some peace and quiet, huh?” Kung Lao’s timbre sliced through the silence.
“If you’re anything like me, you’ll learn to miss Johnny and Adelaide’s boisterous voices. Keeps my head clear of dangerous thoughts.” Kenshi straightened his back and leaned into the younger’s touch. Kung Lao placed his chin on Kenshi’s shoulder and breathed in his scent. He had originally woken not to be comforted by Kenshi’s presence, but because Adelaide had also made breakfast. A spread of pancakes, fruit, eggs, and sausage laid covered on the dining table, tempting him with its decadent smell. Small divets signaled that Adelaide and Johnny had gotten their helping before rushing out the door to beat L.A. traffic.
In fact, Johnny had invited Raiden, who remained asleep upstairs, and Kung Lao to spend time at his “humble” abode to allow for proper rest after their endeavors tasked by Liu Kang. They eagerly agreed wanting to spend more time with the trio seeing as their origins in China would not allow for frequent visitations.
“Hmm..” Kenshi began as he felt Kung Lao’s morning erection against the small of his back. Kung Lao raised his head a bit to listen to what he had to say. “Raiden sure is missing out right now.”
Kung Lao chuckled, his breath tickling Kenshi’s ear sending chills down his tattooed arms. “Sure is. Not only would he love this scene right now, but I also might clean the assortment before he wakes up.” His arms made his way beneath Kenshi’s shirt to feel his ribbed abs. His fingernails lightly grazing across, not helping as Kenshi gasped at the feeling.
“I would bend you over right now, but I have to get some sustenance in me first. Can’t please you on an empty stomach.” Kung Loa said, quickly pulling away and grabbing a plate from the cabinet just above Kenshi’s head.
When all was said and done, Kung Lao did indulge in a hefty portion while Kenshi kept his very moderate. The latter shifting in his seat knowing his fate was set after Kung Lao was full.
Raiden awoke to the vulgar sounds that came from Johnny and Kenshi’s shared rooms. The sunlight peaked through the blinds and Kung Lao’s scent in the sheets began to dissipate. He arose to stretch his limbs, the tension nearly gone now as he got the opportunity to relax rather than continuously prove himself as Earthrealm’s champion. He opened the bedroom door which acted as a soundproof barrier, the sounds having increased tenfold. He walked down the hall, the sounds still increasing. But he passed the door to Johnny and Kenshi’s bedroom where they were evidently coming from in favor of taking the stairs to the kitchen.
‘For Raiden. :)’ - From Adelaide
The note made him smile as he picked up the still warm coffee cup on the table. He helped himself to the scraps Kung Lao had left and picked up the newspaper that had already been read by someone prior. Once he made it to the last page and filled out the remaining crossword boxes, he hadn’t noticed that the sounds had stopped. Only lifting his head due to Kung Lao’s heavy steps coming down the stairs. Kenshi followed, sex written all over his body that was now scattered with hickeys and bite marks. In addition, he had a bit of a limp to his gait.
“Have fun?” Raiden leaned back in his chair, amused at the scene that lay before him.
Kenshi raised a finger at him before collapsing face first into the couch in the living room.
“Careful or else I might begin to think that Johnny is rubbing off on you.” Raiden joked, biting his tongue from laughing at his expense.
“Actually I was rubbing off on him.” Kung Lao chuckled as he approached Raiden, leaning in to peck him on the cheek.
“Neither you nor Cage are funny.” Kenshi’s voiced, his usual stoic demeanor returning to him.
Kung Lao gathered the plates on the table and began to clean them, knowing that Adelaide would be pissed to come back to dirty dishes and also as a gesture of appreciation for her work.
Raiden also made work of cleaning off the tables and counters. He would’ve asked Kenshi to help mop, but decided against it knowing that he definitely would be of no use right now. After cleaning, he plopped himself on the couch and turned on the TV, opting for some animal documentary. A comfortable silence came over the trio before Kung Lao spoke.
“You know, sometimes I feel bad that Adelaide is left out of the fun.”
“What do you mean?” Raiden questioned as he used the small of Kenshi’s back as a headrest. His feet were propped in Kung Lao’s lap.
“Like…” Kung Lao scratched the back of his neck, not knowing how to voice what may be a controversial opinion. “Like how me, you, Kenshi and Johnny interact. I feel bad keeping her in the dark after everything she does for us. Do you think she even knows?”
Raiden pursed his lips. He definitely was attracted to Adelaide. In fact, he was the one who pointed it out to Lord Liu Kang about her potential as a kombatant. To say that her fighting style and flexibility in kombat didn’t turn him on would be a flat out lie. Did she know? She didn’t necessarily live with Johnny to be privy to such information. Sure, she had her own apartment, but often times would stay at Johnny’s due to his close proximity to work and city life. He didn’t doubt her intelligence either, surely she would have picked up some clues.
He was broken out of his train of thought as Kenshi’s chuckling caused his head to bounce some.
“What’s funny?” Kung Lao quirked an eyebrow at the unusual response.
“She definitely knows.” Kenshi spoke directly.
“About all of us or?” Lao edged on.
“She knows about everything. I vividly remember her mocking Johnny and I for weeks when she caught Raiden coming out of our room one night.”
Raiden’s face flushed immediately. How would that change the way she saw him? Would she still respect him?
“So she doesn’t mind?” Kung Lao spoke again for him.
“Mind it? She’s an active participant.”

Raiden rose so fast that he got a headache. “What?” he voiced in unison with his boyfriend.
“Sure, its a breach in her contract, but Adelaide has definitely slept with Johnny and I on multiple occasions. It’s like a little treat whenever we’re having good or bad days.” Kenshi spoke so casually about everything he made this whole interaction seem normal.
“And?” Raiden finally was able to find his voice.
“And what?” He smirked.
“Dude, you can’t drop a bomb like that and then not expect us to want more info!”
Kenshi rolled his eyes before filling them in.
“For one, the sweetest thing I’ve ever tasted. I think I could spend hours between her legs, in fact I have. And you would think her body was crafted by the Elder Gods themselves. I think Johnny has pictures and videos stored on a second phone.” Kenshi squeezed the decorative pillow as he began to daydream about the scenarios.
“What else?” Raiden looked over to Kung Lao and rolled his eyes, he playfully reached over to close his jaw.
“I verbally cannot describe to you half of the sinful things our bedroom has seen. I think that’s something you guys have to see for yourself.” Kung Lao and Raiden were hook, line, and sinker. They gave each other a knowing look, wracking their brain for a plan to get Adelaide in bed.
“I can hear you guys thinking from here. Literally just ask her. She’s a nymphomaniac so I highly doubt she would reject the proposition.” Kenshi’s boisterous laugh made the duo blush as he spoke so casually.
“Well at least tell us what her dynamic is like.” Kung Lao had a smirk of his own. In his relationship with Raiden, he hadn’t anticipated that he would be the submissive one, but Raiden knocked him down a few pegs and put his abrasive ego in check. Adelaide was 5’ 2’’ so maybe he would be able to make his comeback.
“She would put you on your ass Lao. She’s a brat for sure and she can take a punishment, but she’s mainly a dominant leaning switch. I never said I was in control when I was between her legs.” Kenshi finally sat up from his position on the couch, he could hear the sound of Adelaide’s car pulling into the driveway. The conversation was over.
The trio pretended as if the indecent discussion never happened as they heard Adelaide and Johnny’s voice get louder as they approached the house. Raiden quickly grabbed the remote and turned up the volume to cover the obvious silence. The door opened and Adelaide entered, irritation heavy in her voice, “Johnny I will rip your dick off if you ever speak without being spoken like that again.”
Kung Lao gulped, his plan of returning to dominance already looking pretty weary. “Oh come on, it wasn’t that bad.” Johnny took his sunglasses off and placed them on top of his head. Adelaide was kicking her black heels off and placed them haphazardly next to the door before removing her blazer and hanging it up in the closet down the hall. She came back and pointed at Johnny, who stood like a toddler being scolded at the door.
“You joked about the co-director being on her 3rd divorce. In what world is that funny?”
“I was trying to relate!” Johnny testified.
Adelaide ran a hand through her sister locs in frustation before taking a deep breath to calm herself down. “I will deal with you later.” A threat which Raiden and Kung Lao know now is probably code for something else.
She turned to the trio and changed her entire demeanor. “I hope you guys enjoyed breakfast.”
“Delicious as always, Adelaide. Thank you. We also cleaned up. Seems like Johnny already has your plate full. Didn’t want to add to it.” Kung Lao looked at Johnny who had made his way to Kenshi for sympathy, the latter rubbing his back as he pouted.
Adelaide crossed the room and placed Kung Lao’s face in her hands. The scent of vanilla encompassed his senses completely. her hands were soft and her acrylic set well-manicured. Kung Lao felt himself burning as she placed a kiss on his forehead, running her nails through his hair which felt great on his scalp, and said, “Bless you, my sweet boy.”
She rose again before stretching, commenting about how she was going to shower and get comfortable. She also declared that she was staying at Johnny’s for the weekend as her place was staring to bore her. Kenshi looked over to Lao who was still dazed by the interaction. Even better, he could see the growing erection in his pants as he watched Adelaide leave the room, paying close attention to her curves as she walked away. Raiden bit his lip at how easily she hypnotized his man.
“Ok. What’s going on?” Johnny lifted his head from Kenshi’s chest. He could smell the remnants of sex on him, but that’s not what had him confused. “Why are you guys so nervous? Kung Lao, you’re gonna need a cold shower at the rate you’re headed.”
“They didn’t know.” Kenshi spoke matter-of-factly.
“They didn’t know? They didn’t know?!” Johnny whisper-yelled when he put two and two together. “Oh, you guys are in for it. You may have saved my ass tonight…literally.”
In another one of Johnny’s guest bedrooms that he set aside just for her, Adelaide was just finishing up her routine. She had slathered on shea oil, vanilla scented lotion, and finished up with vanilla perfume. In addition, she had just discarded her face mask in the trash and finished applying a moisturizer before reaching for her staple product: lip gloss. Just as she finished, there was a knock at her door.
“Come in.”
It was Kung Lao, who looked stressed out of his mind. Adelaide turned from her vanity to take a good look at him. She noticed his tense muscles and staunch posture.
“What’s up with you? Something stressing you?” She placed her lip gloss back on the vanity before opting to sit on the edge of the guest bed, patting a spot next to her. Kung Lao let out a gulp before approaching, trying not to be obvious about his goal. Though, Adelaide was not making it easy with the matching pajama set she chose. She had a tank top on that had cherries on them. The bottoms matched but hiked up around the bottom. Her cleavage, v-line, and undercarriage were essentially on full display. Even in her simple attire, he felt as if she was out of his league in his shorts and sleeveless top.
“Probably not as stressed as you having Johnny as a client. I just wanted to talk.” Kung Lao messed with his hair which was not in its usual ponytail. The ends tickling his shoulder. He was trying to focus on anything else but her to stop an awkward conversation about the tent in his pants. By the Elder Gods, where did his confidence go? “You know, like check up on you and make sure you were good since you already have a lot on your plate and still manage to do stuff for us too.”
“Aww,” she placed a hand on the lower part of his back and leaned in for a hug.
Shit. Shit. Shit. Shit.
In returning the hug, he breathed in deep, allowing for the scent of vanilla to fill his senses again, his eyes damn near rolling to the back of his skull.
“I appreciate your thoughtfulness Panda,” the nickname that stuck after they met. ‘Panda” as in Kung Fu Panda. This reminded everyone of just how close Adelaide actually is with Johnny, despite her professional approach with him. “I’m doing well. Johnny may piss me off sometimes, but I understand he comes from a good heart. You can tell him I’m not mad if that’s what he sent you in here for. What about you? How are you and Raiden doing?”
“That’s actually what I wanted to talk to you about.”
“Oh, no. I hope everything is ok.” She placed a hand on his arm. In this moment, Kung Lao simultaneously loved that her love language was physical touch.
“Everything’s great. It’s just that…” Kung Lao finally looked back her and his words were caught in his throat. As she was much shorter than him, she had to tilt her head to see. This caused her to peer at him through her eyelashes. He also notices just how close she was as she had leaned in to hear him better.
“Lao? Are you feeling ok? You’re running a bit hot.” She reached up to feel his forehead, but he caught her hand. That’s when he leaned in and kissed her. The first thing Kung Lao noticed was that she didn’t pull away, rather she wrapped her arms around his neck to deepen the kiss. When he pulled away, the second thing he noticed was that she was smirking.
“You’re so easy to read Panda.”
“I don’t know what you mean?”
“I would ask you if Raiden was okay with this, but…” She broke away from him to head to the door. She opened it and grabbed Raiden’s arm and pulled him inside. They were caught like deer in headlights. She brought him to sit at the edge of the bed also.
So now she stood before them, her arms crossed over her chest. “Kenshi?”
They both nodded, understanding the context through a single phrase. They watched in anticipation as she grabbed the chair that she was using for the vanity and placed it so it was facing the side of the bed. She then pointed to Raiden and then the chair. “You. Here.”
Raiden gulped as he realized that she was wasting no time. They were actually doing this. He looked to Kung Lao, a silent ‘good luck’ before making his way over to where Adelaide stood and sitting in the chair. She then walked back to Kung Lao who fiddled with the bed sheets in anticipation. She graciously placed herself between his legs, his hands coming up to roam her legs and backside. While standing, she cupped his face again before placing a swift peck to his lips. She did this a couple more times before deepening the kiss. She ran her fingers through his loose hair again which caused him to moan. She loosely gripped his hair and pulled his head back, allowing a gasp to escape.
“If you found out from Kenshi, that means you know how I play, yeah?”
Kung Lao nodded. “Tsk, tsk, tsk. I’m sure Raiden has taught you better than that?” Adelaide tilted her head.
Ok, fuck regaining dominance. Kung Lao would let this woman use him as her red carpet runway. “Yes, ma’am.” He corrected himself.
“Good boy.” She cooed before pushing him back on the bed and climbing onto his lap. Immediately, Adelaide began peppering kisses on his neck. When she found that spot that made him vocal, she attacked it relentlessly, nipping, licking, and even fully biting. Her hands had made their way under his shirt, tracing and lightly scratching down his abs, much similar to the way he had teased Kenshi earlier. Perhaps Adelaide was his karma to knock him down a couple more pegs.
Kung Lao’s breath became more ragged as he also relished in the feeling of her body atop his. Her core was pressed right up against his erection causing him to hiss whenever she moved. “Take this off,” she commanded, lifting his muscle shirt up and over his head. Once his chest was exposed, she kissed down from his neck and rubbed her hands over his nipples.
“Please ma’am,” Kung Lao accepted his withering state, having been reduced to begging already.
Adelaide chuckled which caused a lump to form in his throat, “But baby, I’ve barely even begun.” With zero hesitation, she took his left nipple into her mouth and reveled in the groans the man underneath her released. She did this until he began to squirm before relenting and showing treatment to the other. She hummed a little as she felt his hands roam her ass before firmly gripping it as if to ground himself. She relinquished him with a pop before kissing further down his abs, tracing them with her tongue. She turned to look at Raiden who had shuffled his own pajama shorts just below his hips and was rubbing himself through his boxers at the scene playing out before him. She’d allow it.
Using her acrylics, she teased by tracing his v-line, barely breaking the seal of his waistband. Her lip gloss rendered was useless as it was smeared across Kung Lao’s lips and waist.
“Please,” Lao whined this time, desperate for her to do something about his affliction.
“That’s not how you ask.” Raiden interrupted quickly. His eyes low in pleasure which presented as a glare.
“Sorry sir. Please touch me ma’am. Anything.”
“Ah, so it is true. Raiden did teach you humility.” Adelaide commented before reaching in Kung Lao’s shorts and pulling out his dick. He hissed at the feeling of the air before moaning as she wasted no time in moving her hand up and down on his already stiff member. Just as Kung Lao was getting ready to beg again, he watched as she placed a kiss to the base before licking and sucking the bottom of his shaft while she stroked the top. He threw his head back in pleasure. However, he felt a grip at the back of his head force him to keep eye contact with her. He didn’t even realize that Raiden had moved from his seated position to the bed. He now sat behind him, his back on Raiden’s thighs with a large hand around his throat.
Raiden then leaned down and began whispering in his ear.
“I thought I drilled manners into your head by now. What do you say?”
“Thank you ma’am.”
Adelaide hummed, a silent ‘you’re welcome”. She then proceeded to take his entire length in her mouth. Even with his impressive length, she pushed herself until her nose pressed against his happy trail. Kung Lao gasped and moaned. He desperately wanted to throw his head back and hide from her sultry gaze, but the pressure around his neck reminded him of the consequences of doing so.
Raiden and Adelaide looked at one another and nodded. Kung Lao in his already fucked out state was unaware of just how much noise he was making. So Raiden sat back a bit letting Lao’s head lay flat against the mattress before doing away with his own clothing. When he returned in Lao’s vision, Lao looked up only to be met with Raiden’s dick. Lao wasted no time opening his mouth and allowed Raiden to slide in until he hit the back of his throat. Raiden let out a hiss as he began to move his hips, effectively fucking his throat.
With his moans subdued, most of the noise came from the squeaking of the bed, though every now and then a soft moan from either Raiden or Lao would escape. However, Raiden noted how the frequency of Kung Lao’s moans increased. He spoke in between breaths and strokes, “He’s gonna cum.”
Adelaide pulled back, the loss of suction releasing a ‘pop’. She pulled his shorts and boxers the rest of the way off, leaving him completely bare. There was little time for Lao to make complaining noises as Raiden did not stop his thrusting. She then rose from her spot on the floor before lifting her tank top over her head. She then pushed her pajama shorts down until they pooled at the floor. Now, it was Raiden’s turn to drool at the fullness of her breasts and hips. She had to have been crafted by the Elder Gods with the way her form invited them to look upon her as if she were a work of art. Raiden gave a couple more thrusts before pulling out of Lao’s throat who gulped for air.
Lao didn’t dare move afraid that the wrong one would prohibit his orgasm for even longer. He then watched as Raiden and Adelaide switched spots. Raiden now stood in between his legs and Adelaide saddled his face looking toward Raiden. There was no talking, only anticipatory silence as Raiden lifted Lao’s legs over his shoulders, and before he could protest, Adelaide shut him up by sitting on his face. And boy was Kenshi right, she tasted divine. He began licking and suckling at her slit which made her gasp and that was all that he needed before attacking her clit and tongue fucking her hole. He drank her wetness down as if it were nectar that granted immortality. Meanwhile, Raiden used the spit that Adelaide left behind as lube before slowly pushing into Lao’s hole. Adelaide was rewarded with vibrations that had her grabbing at Raiden’s shoulders. Raiden set the rhythm, his thrusts medium paced, but brutal in their strength.
Lao could only whimper and gasp into Adelaide’s sopping cunt which in turn had her whimpering and gasping into Raiden’s mouth as they shared a kiss of their own.
“Is he making you feel good, darling?” Raiden whispered.
“Yes, sir,” she grabbed at his neck, pulling him in for another kiss. She shoved her face in his neck, leaving bites and hickeys in her wake. Raiden made sure to keep the interaction in mind to tease her about later.
“Fuck, he’s so good. Good boy, Lao.” She broke away, her moans increasing in volume which let both Lao and Raiden know that her orgasm was approaching. Lao wrapped his arms around her thighs and increased the force and speed in which he circled his tongue on her clit which elicit a squeak from her as she tried to pull away to stave off her rapidly approaching orgasm. Fuck a breath, he’d die here happy.
“No running, baby. Cum for us, yeah?” Raiden had served her the same treatment, threading his fingers through her locs and forcing her to look at him. Lao moans increased as well, letting Raiden know he was close again also. So while Raiden stopped, Kung Lao continue his attack.
“There you go…” Raiden encouraged as he watched her eyes roll back and her breath hiccup and gasp as her orgasm hit her. She shuddered and shook violently as Lao drunk her juices down. He did so until Raiden tapped his thigh to avoid sending her into overstimulation. When she lifted herself off his face, the evidence was pretty damning. From his nose down, there was a glistening wetness and he was licking his lips to commit the taste to memory.
“Don’t you think Kung Lao deserves his treat now?” Raiden looked down at the mess of a man below him, the hickeys and bite marks were beginning to show.
Still in a daze from her orgasm, she simply nodded before lifting herself above Lao’s dick, with her back against Raiden’s chest. She guided his dick until it caught on her slippery walls. There was no resistance as she sat herself fully on his dick. If it weren’t for the fact that he wanted to continue being a good boy for the both of them, he probably would’ve bussed right there. Adelaide gasped at how Lao’s dick sat perfectly against a spot that had her seeing stars. Lao let out a pornographic moan at how Adelaide’s pussy was squeezing him.
Kung Lao’s hands came to rest on her hips while Raiden released his partner’s legs in favor of running his hands up and down her body. He cupped her breasts and pinched at her nipples. He then brought his hand up to the back of her neck to push her down into Kung Lao’s chest, immediately picking up his thrusting again. In response, every thrust caused Kung Lao to haphazardly thrust up into Adelaide. Lao merely wrapped his arms around Adelaide’s body as she reduced to a babbling mess similar to him.
‘WHACK!”
Adelaide wailed in pleasure as Raiden delivered a hard smack to her ass. He grabbed her hair again to lift her back to his chest. One hand wrapped around her neck while the other reached down to circle her clit. He made her bounce on Lao’s dick as the latter did his best to meet her halfway. Lao felt his orgasm fast approaching and after being denied the first two times, he begged for release.
“Please. I’ve been good. Please let me cum.”
Adelaide was a broken record at this point. “Yes. yes. yes” and “good boy” were all she could manage. Raiden also felt his orgasm approaching as his hips began to stutter some.
“Shit. Gonna cum.” Was Raiden’s only warning as he bit Adelaide’s neck to stifle his moans. It was like a chain reaction, Adelaide started as she clamped and squeezed around Kung Lao as her second orgasm hit. This caused Kung Lao to cum as Adelaide essentially milked him dry. For the same reasons, Raiden stumbled into his own orgasm. They each held on to one another as they attempted to collect their breath.
Raiden pulled away from the group first and picked up the towel Adelaide had used for her shower. He began to wipe down Kung Lao before helping Adelaide off of him and cleaning her up too. Kung Lao and Adelaide made no move to get up and in fact, when Raiden returned from throwing the towel in the hamper, he found both of them already fast asleep. He just chuckled and opened a window, allowing the smell of sex to dissipate into the cool night air before climbing in the large bed himself, snuggling up behind Adelaide who laid on Kung Lao’s chest and drifting off to sleep.
The next morning, the breakfast table was silent. There was nothing to say or rather, Kung Lao physically couldn’t speak due to a sore throat.

this is all still platonic!johnny cage x platonic!reader. reader x platonic!everyone right now, may change. heavy, tooth-rotting fluff with everyone. can you tell reader’s love language is physical touch? anyway, this is a little treat to myself and you all for blazing a trail through my papers. a little more !reader background exposed here. really just like a filler episode. hope you enjoy!
after raiden’s win in Outworld, liu kang gave you all some time off back in Earthrealm (you could never return to just saying Earth after all this) before the quartet were to begin their diplomatic duties. finally with access to a charger and your other technological equipment, you could finally adhere to the demands of johnny’s fan base. that includes filming that mukbang you had promised them some time ago.
you were wearing non-professional attire, opting for some loose clothing as you planned to utilize the extra space for eating. you stood in front of the camera, making sure you worked out all the final details of filters and microphone checks. your locs were in a ponytail and there were small beads of sweat dripping down your face, tongue poked out in concentration.
johnny, kung lao, raiden, and even kenshi decided to return to the carleton estate, the chinese men never having the opportunity to travel outside of china prior. surely the bustling high life of los angelos, california was a perfect transition for them having hailed from a much quieter life.
“y/nnnnnn,” kung lao had began to get impatient. the food sat steaming in front of him. it reminded him of back home, binging on food prepared by madame bo. instead, it had been prepared by you. a full spread of main dishes and sides as if it was thanksgiving. the boys were in for a proper ‘culture shock’ as the food you chose to prepare was African-American based.
“and here i thought i was the superstar….” johnny muttered, tapping his fingers against the table.
“oh shush you all, im just about…” you turned the lens a bit before it finally spat out a clear picture of you all. “done!” you wasted no time and pressed record.
kung lao and raiden didn’t even wait for you to introduce them and rightfully so. you had sort of “soft launched” the trio. it started with you dragging kung lao to do Tiktok dances with you, in which he was surprisingly good at. the comments would be filled with replies about how he was eating you up.
hoping to crack kenshi open a bit more, you would randomly throw fruits at him, often catching him off guard and record his reactions. finally, having enough of your antics, he used his sword (you later learned that johnny had bought and refused to give him his ancestral one) to slice it before it made contact with him. it did nothing but earn him the name ‘fruit ninja’.
as for raiden, you milked his shy personality and would not stop editing and photoshopping him in a group of cats. casual shitposting if you will. fans got off on you referring to him as a “soft, sweet boy” whenever you interacted with him. it always resulted in him accepting the flattery with a flushed face and you having to deny that you were secretly in a relationship.
you still primarily focused on johnny as his assistant, doing “a day in my life” videos or filming you both sparing or performing acrobatic tricks. over the break, you began working out, sparring with the boys, and overall getting back into the crafts you used to do. and it felt good. there was no denying that these boys had begun to feel like family in a way.
you were brought back to reality when a loud belching sound made you cover your ears.
“this food is so fucking good, y/n.” kung lao said between mouthfuls of food. he wasn’t the only one though. raiden had picked his plate up off the table, bringing the food closer to himself to enjoy it. kenshi silently and respectfully ate at the collard greens, commenting how in his culture, they had a similar dish.
“what can i say boys, my work wife is the bomb dot com.”
“one, i appreciate the compliments. two, ew.” you finally sat down and began enjoying your own plate before directing the conversation so that you wouldn’t only have recording of lewd slurping noises and silence.
later that evening, you sat on the couch with your laptop and headphones editing the video you had just recorded earlier that day. as you were in a state of perpetual clicking and dragging, the soreness from your repeated days of training and sparring began to kick in. that’s where you decided to call it quits.
the boys, to your knowledge, had found their respected sleeping quarters and were probably doing such. as you stretched, you got a glimpse of a dark figure in your peripheral. you nearly screamed and reached for what johnny refers to as the ‘sofa gun’, before making out kenshi’s features as he let the refrigerator fill a glass of water.
when he saw you, he further squinted his sleep-disturbed eyes, “what are you doing up?”
you look to the corner of your laptop to see the time 2:41 AM.
“i guess i lost track of time.” you sigh, going back to stretching your extremities.
“what were you doing?” he approached. to your knowledge, kenshi came from japan to confront johnny, he had no other plans, meaning no other clothing. but currently, like kung lao and raiden, he borrowed from johnny. he adorned what you would call the typical “man-whore” plaid pants and a black t-shirt. he proceeded to sip from the glass as he waited for your answer.
“i was editing the video from earlier. most of johnny’s audience are young, but they share one quality,”
“terrible jokes—“ “a short attention span.”
you rolled your eyes, but quietly chuckled at his interjection, true nonetheless.“that too.”
silence came over you both again. kenshi used the silence to down the rest of the water before placing his glass on the stand beside you before seating himself down on the couch.
“i know we got off on the wrong foot —“ “sorry for being antagonizing the first time we met”
now you both chuckled at each other’s interruption. “ladies first” he smiled.
“i just wanted to apologize for being an asshole at first. my therapist told me that anger is the only type of attention i’m used to getting so naturally, you were a victim to it.” you rubbed the back of your neck in partial embarrassment.
“apology accepted though i’m aware now of why that is. but i also wanted to apologize. i was unaware of your background and made assumptions that i know now were not true. i also wanted to let you know that i understand. my family too was decimated in a battle with an enemy clan. it’s why i’m doing this. i wish to reclaim what was lost to us.”
“i’ll have to teach johnathan about reparations, huh? we can’t let a white man go down the path of what white men do best, can we?” you playfully nudged him. he returned the humor with a fist bump.
“we definitely have opposite ways of dealing with this shit.”
you only hummed in agreement before rubbing at your eyes. kenshi took that as a sign to take his leave. he prepared to get up, but you stopped him from getting up.
“we good?” you tilt your head.
“we’re good.” he responded. he was a little taken back when you embraced him, but slowly returned the gesture himself. you then bid him a good night before taking over the guest room johnny allocated for you.
when morning came, you both nearly sent johnny on an early grave by asking if he hated people of color.
—
that same morning, despite the little amount of sleep you got, you decided to make breakfast. from the outside, it would appear that you had taken on an additional job as the boys mother or maid, but you didn’t feel that way. you just felt food taking some of the pressure off the shoulder’s of others. even if it took being the comedic relief. in fact, you felt more like an april to their teenage mutant ninja turtles.
but you should’ve guessed that the smell of food would awaken kung fu panda. you nearly had another heart attack, reaching for what johnny deemed “the pantry gun”, before recognizing kung lao through his fallen hair.
“jesus lao, you nearly killed me. make some noise or something will you?” you grip the plate of pancakes in one hand and you hand over your heart with the other.
“sorry, the monastery gave me soft footsteps. also, it smells great in here. you should consider being a chef or something.” he followed you as you carried plate after plate to the table. when you got to the bacon, you gave him an extra piece you had cooked. it felt like slipping a dog a treat.
“is there a reason you are following y/n around like a lost puppy” another voice had interrupted the seemingly domestic scene. it was raiden who also took his hair out of its usual updo.
“she has the food.” lao responded matter of factly. raiden could only sigh at the motivations of his friend.
you decided to let kenshi and johnny sleep in. liu kang recommended that you take a break and so you would allow them to recuperate. but you didn’t want the food to get cold so to prevent lao from eating everything, you made ken-doll and johnny bravo their plates and put them in the microwave to preserve their heat. you allowed raiden and lao to dig in. you sat with them and enjoyed their company.
“i wish you would have seen it kung lao, it was like a new y/n. and she put you on your ass.” raiden recanted about the skills he had recently found out about you and how you utilized them to incapacitate both lao and johnny.
“only because i had overindulged that night. i’d like to see you try again when i’m sober.” he spoke with the confidence that always came easy to him, but you were gaining it as well and needed ways to gauge the strength that you had been building.
“i accept your offer and i’m sure i’ll do it again.” you smirk before spooning the remaining food on your plate into your mouth.
“we got ourselves a deal.” he put his hand out for you to take.
“what deal are we making? oooh is it about drugs.” johnny stood at the entrance of the kitchen, still hazy with sleep on his mind.
“no johnny baby, kung fu panda and i are gonna have ourselves a duel.” you wiggled your eyebrows.
“are you sure? i mean you are like 5’2’’ and kung lao is like 6’0’’+…” johnny now seemed more awake, concerned over his “work wife”.
“just means that he’ll fall much harder.” you grin sadistically. it nearly sends chills up kung lao’s back.
he definitely put you on your ass and as much as it put a dent in your ego, it felt good to at least be able to keep up with him in the long run. he reached out a hand for you which you grabbed and almost effortlessly pulled you from the ground. you dust yourself off and thank him for training with you.
“I have to hand it to you, you’re no easy enemy.” kung lao commented as he tipped his razor hat towards you.
“he’s right y/n,” raiden approached from the sidelines with johnny and kenshi who were just now eating their portions. “you are well on your way to becoming a respectable warrior that lord liu kang would approve of.”
your heart wanted to explode out your chest. tears began to well up in your eyes and you were quick to bring raiden into a hug. “that means a lot coming from Earthrealm’s champion.” you whisper.
you reach out and grab the cloth of kung lao’s garb before also pulling him into a hug.
“hey! kung lao! you watch your hands now!” johnny called out which broke apart the group hug as kung lao begun to argue how he would do no such thing.
__
evening had made its way back again. the air still warm as the sun began to make its way down. you all had decided to walk down from johnny’s mansion to the beach and just enjoy nature and each other’s company.
johnny hauled the cooler while you carried a tote with everyone’s towels and things. once you found the perfect spot amongst the sunset enjoyers, you set down towels and threw kenshi the volleyball that he took to play with kung lao and raiden. johnny and you lagged behind the group emphasizing that you both needed time for your weekly debrief. johnny took out a beer bottle and cracked it open before passing it to you. you accepted and then watched him grab one for himself. you reach into a side pocket of your tote and pull out a perfectly rolled joint and lighter.
“ugh it’s like you read my mind.” johnny pumped his fist. you just chuckled as you proceed to light it. the wind was being a little finicky and so johnny used his hands to provide cover. you took a drag and looked out to the water before releasing the smoke into the air. you then pass it to johnny.
“how’s the situation with you and christina?” you cross your arms, the flowy sundress doing nothing to shield you from the salty breeze the ocean provided.
johnny takes a minute to respond as he takes a long drag, holding it before releasing it. “we’re getting a divorce. and come monday i’m gonna need you to arrange movers to take my stuff somewhere.”
“somewhere? where we goin’?” you look at him, waiting for him to respond. you took a swig of your liquid courage. he seemed to chuckle before shaking his head.
“do you always have intentions of being around?” he whispered.
“are you saying you don’t want —“ you tilt your head, a little worried at where the conversation was going.
“no. never,” he cut you off immediately, taking another drag. “i mean in the sense of being my friend.” he passes the joint back to you.
“absolutely. you should’ve thought about that when you offered me the job just because i laughed at your movie reference. we’re in this for life now.” you felt the dread exit through every breath you took. “and you can stay at my place while you look for other things.” silence makes its appearance again as the waves crash against the shore. you feel a weight hit your shoulder and you look over to see johnny had placed his head there, taking the occasional drink of his own beverage.
you look back toward kung lao, kenshi, and raiden as they cheered over how long they could keep the ball from touching the ground.
“i’m glad you made friends. you barely make time for leisure. you thrive with them. and don’t think that i dont see how you look at kenshi. you look like such a schoolgirl trying to get his attention.” you jab at his side and he immediately retracts from your form at the expression. he covers his face with his hands but by his ears, you could tell he was turning red.
“am not!” he whisper-yells.
you gasp at the audacity for him to deny the claim. you decide to egg him on further, the weed beginning to kick in.
“johnny and kenshi sitting in a tree, K-I-S-S-I-NG. First comes love. Second, comes marriage. Third com—“ he clamps his hand over your mouth as your singing has stirred the attention of the other.
“we will talk about this later.” he whined, continuously shushing you.
“i can totally play wingwoman for you. me and ken-doll are like this now.” showing him your crossed fingers to signify your new bond. you continue your rant. “what about him is attractive to you? when did you know? was it love at first sight? i knew you were definitely filming a porn that night.”
he just rolled his eyes but definitely did not hold eye contact with you as the other boys began to make their way back to you both.
“having fun without us?” raiden spoke first, taking into account the drinks.
“oh they are definitely having fun, alright. they’re high off their asses right now. lightweights…” kenshi muttered as crossed his arms.
“oh ken-doll, i doubt you could hold up against me babes.” you eyes narrowed as your ego consumed you again.
“i am not high.” johnny pointed accusingly after. by his eyes, which were red and glossy, kenshi knew better. raiden and kung lao gave each other side eyes wondering who was gonna be the responsible sober friend.
“y/n. i’m ex-yakuza, i doubt you want to make any types of bets against me.” kenshi held his ground.
“i won’t be embarrassed a second time.” you hold your head high as you cross your arms.
you and kenshi held each others gaze before a smirk came across your face. kenshi grumbled before sitting his self on johnny’s side before hold out his fingers for a turn. you gladly passed it.
“fuck it. we only live once.” kung lao broke. raiden only dragged his hand down his face knowing he was going to be the responsible one tonight.
you stayed next to johnny for most of the night, his body weight always leaning against you as he told fantastical stories of his time at grad school and as a Hollywood actor.
kenshi was a different person, a lot more expressive as he recounted his time under the protection of the yakuza.
you finally decided to head back to johnny’s place when kung lao’s stomach growled. you laughed as you declared it was time to grab a snack to ward off the munchies.
a bowl of cereal and a movie was how you all decided to end your night. you made a blanket pallet on the floor and brought face masks. as the only girl within the guardians of the galaxy, the boys were open and happy to partake in your activities. but soon the munchies did wear off and gave way to sleepiness. kung lao slept on his stomach with raiden using him as pillow. ever so polite, his hat covered his face and his hands were crossed over his stomach. kenshi slept on his side, his back pressed against johnny who also slept on his side but facing the opposite direction. you were also tired, but your brain was still reeling over the events you witnessed and the new relationships you had built.
you began to clean up and also took a photo of the blanket fortress before you slip open the glass patio doors to enjoy the chill of a california summer night. you stared at the city in the distance and relived your life up until that moment. you had come from chicago to los angelos on a whim and $200. you were shunned by any remaining family you had when you lost your family that night. ‘you should’ve been there and died with them’. a stinging sentiment as blame was placed on you for the slaughter. the police did not help in their investigation of the matter, wondering who you might have been involved with seeing as you were out so often. you shook your head. none of that matters now, johnny saved you from a completely different life and now you were making good money and finding out more about the universe than the ordinary person was privy too. as happy as you tried to be, you felt… undeserving.
suddenly, fire and light began to circle and form a figure that stepped from the center.
you look up to find your lord and savior, liu kang. you don’t speak, all you do is pat a spot next to you by the side of the pool, encouraging him to sit.
without words, he takes your offer, rolling up his pants as he dips his legs in the water. “how have you and the others been enjoying your break?” he knows the answer already, but would prefer to hear it from you.
“well, Earthrealm’s mightiest heroes are cuddling with squishmallows and did korean skincare before bed so i’d say pretty well-rested.”
he chuckles at he dichotomy of the personalities he had chosen and the scene they were in now. “that’s only one part of my question y/n. how have you been enjoying the break.”
gagged. liu kang left you speechless once again. you decide now is the time to voice the concern you had been thinking of ever since the tournament.
“i’d think it would be better if you considered training me and allowing me to support you and your warriors on your endeavors.” you twirl your strands again, anxiety bubbling up in your stomach.
liu kang pursed his lips a bit as it seemed he let the idea play out before him. he closed his glowing eyes and with a sigh, he responded to your wishes.
“consider it already done.”
“w-what.” you stutter.
“when i came to recruit johnny as one of Earthrealm’s champions, you came too did you not?” he smirks.
“i-i mean yeah, but only because johnny insisted, right?”
“i assure you y/n, i do not bring any regular civilian to Outworld. johnny brought you because i allowed it and because you are not any regular civilian.” he puts an hand on your shoulder, but you immediately cling to his side.
“kangaroo, are you saying you always believed in me?” you considered for a moment how warm the God of Fire was. you hadn’t realized just how cool it was outside. so rather than relinquish the god from your embrace, you lingered for as long as he would allow it. he did not remove you.
“i will not deny it. i have monitored your progress and raiden was right, you are on your way to becoming a warrior well within your own rights. secondly, you are very cold, i suggest you get inside with the others and get some rest. you will need it for when you return for your mission in a week’s time.” he raised his eyebrow.
“consider it already done.”
——
liu kang returned back to the monastery and requested that in the morning you relay his message. you still had another week until then so you found your space amongst the pile of limbs before setting on using johnny’s ass as a pillow and raiden as a heater for your feet. the tv replayed the main menu over and over again, casting a glare across the room so you reached for the remote and shut it off. the only noise now came from the nocturnal life outside. you pull a blanket across yourself and finally are able to doze off.

platonic!Johnny Cage x platonic!gen-z!reader; neutral!Kenshi Takahashi x platonic!reader; platonic!Raiden x platonic!reader; platonic!Kung Lao x platonic!reader; platonic!Lui Kang x platonic!reader
no beta reading we die like men. here’s another chapter even though i have like 3 papers due within 2 weeks.
after stepping out of the portal, your eyes catch first the palace setting. how its stone and marble material reached towards the sky and provided a sturdy foundation for your feet. there was clear signs of royalty with the hues of gold and purple that mingled with the color of natural scenery.
however, the view was interrupted when the armed guard replaced it. stern and well-postured, you straightened your back to replicate the menacing look. liu kang had educated you well enough before leaving so you could differentiate the two princesses among them.
johnny whistled, prepared to ruin the scenic moment immediately with that mouth of his. you elbowed him again, “not now” you mouthed.
“you should listen to your assistant more,” raiden said as Earthrealm’s chosen defender. “i’m sure she goes through a lot to keep you out of trouble.”
liu kang hummed in agreement before bowing before the princesses, addressing them as mileena and kitara. the rest of the group’s actions followed after the god.
as he went around, he introduced everyone. well, everyone except you, you stood farther back than the hand-selected fighters. but, your presence did not go unnoticed.
“and the girl?” mileena raised her eyebrow.
liu kang pursed his lips again before speaking, “a spectator, at the request of johnny cage. i assure you that she is of no threat.”
you inch back a little farther behind the pack as the attention seemed to have shifted to your meek form. thankfully, conversation was more focused on the battles that were to take place.
“i hope you are prepared raiden. our champions are determined to win.” kitana smirked.
“myself included, it’s been too long since Outworld has hailed victory.” mileena held her head high in confidence.
before you could also disgrace the group with your quick retorts, the conversation was interrupted by a guard, but clearly one of a higher ranker or importance. tanya, the future empress called her, declared that you all head to the capitol and without further hesitation, you all moving once more.
you made sure to be out of sight, realizing now just how out of place you really were in terms of stature and build. to keep your mind off things, you took out your phone and quietly did the job you were hired to do: vlog.
so as you guys paraded through the city, you whispered amongst the group and took shots of the Outworldian city.
“so raiden give us a little pre-game interview. how do you feel as earth realm’s champion fighter? surely, everyone is gonna want a piece of you.” you shoved the lens into his face again in true paparazzi fashion.
he flushed, you could tell the attention that he has been getting as of late was new to him, but he entertained your antics anyway.
“definitely a little nervous, but also confident. i won against three other of lui kang’s handpicked fighters so i know i have the ability.” he rubbed the back of his neck as confetti had begun raining down.
“a great insight to have raiden. i implore you to keep that same energy throughout our time here.” liu kang spoke like a proud father.
“and you kangaroo?” your low-attention span now shifted.
the nickname always seemed to catch him off guard, so with a recollected sigh, he spoke, “pleased.”
“kung fu! ken-doll! get in on all the fun! we’re being celebrated right now.” you yelled, eager to ramp up the energy within the group.
“we are being celebrated, you just happen to be here also.” kenshi brushed past you, unwilling to give you anything else. ouch. but johnny was quick to replace him, shaking his fist like an angry old man at kenshi’s insult.
kung lao and johnny matched you energy-wise as you all declared that when raiden wins the tournament, you’d order mountains of food and create content to entertain the fans back in Earthrealm.
once a little more composed, you took notice of all the different kinds of beings there were in outworld, you also took in how it felt to be celebrated. mileena seeing the curiosity in your eyes began recanting to raiden about the history of Outworld. she even mentioned about her late father.
you cut liu kang off in the middle of him performing his diplomatic duty, “i’m sorry for your loss. must be difficult.” you provide a flat smile.
“i appreciate your gesture, but you have nothing to be sorry for. not as much as this one here…” she mutters. she stops the carriage to get off and approach a figure in the distance. in the mean time, liu kang is not ignorant to the interaction between you and mileena.
“you have lost your father too.” he spoke, his tone sympathetic. you look down, the camera no longer recording. there was no escaping the conversation with the all-knowing god.
“my mother and sister too. a home-invasion gone wrong. i wasn’t home. i never was, always afraid of missing out. so i blew them off that night when they wanted to watch a movie in favor of partying with friends.”
silence hovered over the group despite the festival music still playing in the background. you made quick work of wiping your tears before apologizing again, scared of dampening the mood. johnny, who knew of your story when he hired you, just provided a comforting arm around your shoulder.
“so your humor is a cover-up, huh?” kenshi muttered.
“really, you want to do this right now?” johnny stood from his position in the carriage. kenshi also stood, making the carriage a little wobbly.
kung lao and raiden replaced his spot on either side, providing you with shoulders to lean on.
“now, now. we will not make a display of ignorance.” liu kang intercepted immediately, a stern tone taking over. “kenshi, now is not the time or place. johnny, not every altercation needs verbal and physical offense. i order you both to sit back down and let us carry on to Empress Sindel’s palace.”
and so it was. mileena returned and the parade carried on as she muttered “li mei and those damned tarkatans” under her breath.
you collected yourself at the palace and stood amongst the group discussing tactics for the fights raiden would be enduring. suddenly, silence took over before johnny pushed you behind him, “red alert. stock villain incoming.”
he spoke in reference to what you would classify as demon split the crowd. his tall stature definitely struck fear deep within you. maybe now would be a good time to start praying. liu kang introduced him as general shao. his goal clear, to antagonize and belittle the group of Earthrealmers that stood before him. the others remained tall before him, but you were kept behind them out of necessary precaution.
the princesses returned and sat on their respective thrones beside Empress Sindel. there was no pause or hesitation for further introduction. she immediately began setting the stage for which raiden would take alongside his enemies.
you begin twirling your hair out of anxiety when his first opponent was introduced. the same li mei that mileena seems to distrust. you found out soon enough in empress sindel’s “motivation” speech.
then the battles commenced. each one menacing than the last. but each time raiden came out victorious. the first part of the tournament was adjourned and true to your goal, you, raiden, kung lao, and johnny made the most of the dinner that was provided. you couldn’t help but feel giddy despite the emotions you let loose earlier. maybe the relationship between Earthrealm and Outworld wasn’t as bad as kangaroo made it seem. you watch as johnny flirted with every woman at the party, as kenshi remained unbothered, and kung lao finish plate after plate. raiden and liu and seemed deep in conversation.
that’s when the feeling returned. the one of doubt that sat deep in your stomach and extended into your throat. everyone here had a place, even in this new world. you begin picking at the remnants of food on your plate.
“i never got your name warrior.”
you look up and notice that it was princess kitana. as instructed by lui kang, you bow before her.
“no need,” she paused. “i just want to know who you are in relation to everyone.” she sat down in the empty chair next to you.
“firstly, i am no warrior, but my name is y/n. this is more of a business trip to me than one of diplomatic relations.”
“hm. a little disappointing. but, lui kang doesn’t bring just anyone to Outworld.” she swirled a glass of exotic wine before sipping.
you chuckle, once again fully aware of how out of place you were. you don’t respond though.
“have you ever fought before?” she raised an eyebrow.
“maybe when i was younger. i took ballet, gymnastics and karate, but i lost all passion for those beginning crafts when my family… i’m sorry.” you used the napkins provided to blot at your eyes.
kitana shared a look of understanding. she even placed a hand on top of yours.
“i think you should get back into it. not only is it an excellent outlet, but,” she extended the ‘u’ for emphasis and dramatization. “i’m surrounded by brutes on a daily bases and would love some feminine company. maybe i can show you something?” she leaned in, eyeing the space around you guys for anyone lurking in your conversation.
and how stupid would you be to deny the princess’ request. with stifled giggles and rushed footsteps, kitana grabbed your hand and rushed off to the palace quarters. sindel watched in amusement, she had the same harmless suspicion as a mother watching her daughter and a friend do some secret activity at a sleepover.
“i won’t go too hard on you, just show you moves you can do when someone invades your space in a manner that is distasteful.”
it only took a couple minutes for liu kang and the rest of the quartet to notice your usual cheerful and sometimes invasive presence was missing. and how lucky, you did not have to witness mileena’s moment of weakness or when general shao insulted your boys or the plans he had that had yet to be unravelled.
when you finally returned to them later that night, you were a little bruised and definitely sore, but you wouldn’t rest until you could show what you learned on a real person, someone like… a drunk johnny cage.
“how did you manage to sneak off with princess kitana?” kenshi quipped, a little dismayed that it was you of all people.
“i didn’t do anything, in fact, it was her who rizzed me up. don’t be jealous ken-doll.” you wiggled your eyebrows to piss him off further.
“well don’t leave anything to the imagination. what happened?” johnny slurred. this time, he was cosigned by a similarly drunk kung lao, leaving a blushing raiden behind.
“yeah? you wanna know?” you egged them on, leading them to their impending doom.
they nodded eagerly. “well come closer, i can’t exactly say this with so many ears leading back to the empress.” you tease.
when they approach and lean down for you to whisper into their ear, you unleashed your attack. you provide a swift uppercut to kung lao’s chin sending him flying back before he composed himself. you then quickly drop down before swinging your leg around to knock johnny off his. kung lao, the ever so competitive, charged back. this time, you used your refreshed gymnastic skills from kitana to avoid his rapid punches.
round off after round off you avoided him until you could feel your exhaustion setting in, while on your hands, you bent your knees and elbows, trying to gain enough energy to push off and drive your legs up. your heels made contact with kung lao’s chin and sent him flying back. he did not get back up, succumbing to the contact and his drunken haze.
after you sent johnny to the ground, he made no attempt to get up, his drunken state rendering him incapacitated.
you gracefully finish the round off and put both your hands in the air as if you as if you had finished an award winning gymnastics routine.
raiden clapped, clearly amused at the current state of his friends. kenshi rolled his eyes, but had a little smirk on his face. “since johnny was so adamant about you capturing everything, you should take a photo of them now.”
“omg ken-doll, that’s the best idea you have had yet!” you squeal and proceed to whip the device out to do so.
“i see that your confidence is back on the mend. i’m happy for you. i am also glad that you are no longer running from conflict.” liu kang chuckled and pat you on the back.
raiden picked up the unconscious kung lao while kenshi attended to johnny. you all then proceeded to walk to the quarters provided to you to settle in and prepare for the next day.
“i knew i had chosen right after all.” liu kang said.
“me? chosen? you flatter me kangaroo.” you smile.
——————————————————————————————————————————————
(The Next Day)
raiden stood before empress sindel, though her daughters were missing from their standard positions. she commemorated him of his past victories and how he only had two opponents who stood before him.
you were back on the sidelines with johnny, phone already recording. you were trying so hard not to yell out “Out-Worldstar”. the jokes just write themselves really.
so imagine your surprise when she announced that kitana was to be his next opponent. slyly, you and johnny slid your phones back into your pockets and just started whistling. all of a sudden interested in the plants and decorations rather than raiders impending doom.
“come on guys, you don’t have any faith in raiden?” kung lao nudged.
“it’s not that,” johnny began. “it’s that he’s definitely going to feel it after,” you finished.
“and i will win.” kitana interjected. she looked over at you, you could tell by the crinkle in her eye, she was smiling, ready to show you what it meant to really be femme fatale.
their quarrel began and liu kang had to even stop himself from giggling as you stared at kitana with a wide mouth and a hint of fear in your eyes. she could definitely hold her own in kombat. she performed aerial flips and even put her magic skills to the test against his lightening. it was miraculous even that their fight looked as if they were floating, feet only touching the ground for a moment before attacking or blocking.
despite her flare and her fans, raiden defeated her in a split second moment of weakness. but it didn’t damper how you felt about the strength she exhibited, if anything, it only fueled the fire in you to get back into your hobbies that you discussed last night. you were determined to actually earn your position within liu kang’s entourage.
she congratulated his victory and with no moment of rest, raiders next opponent was introduced: general shao.
you, johnny, kenshi, and kung lao visibly and audibly gulped. kenshi even tugged at his collar a bit to relieve pressure. it seemed as if the ground shook as he approached the ring. you heard how he made a commotion last night by insulting Earthrealmers and their inherent weakness, so you knew he would show no mercy towards raiden.
you look around at your companions, while lui kang focused intensely on the oncoming battle, everyone else was face deep in a newspaper. this caused you to tilt your head while wearing a monotonous look upon your face.
“ok, i know we are all concerned right now, but maybe the least we can do is cheer him on during his final fight.” neurons began firing as you thought of ways to encourage raiden. then it hit you.
“no.”
“ken-doll come onnnnn. you have to join in or else it won’t be authentic.” you begged, hugging his leg and refusing to get off despite his attempts to kick and remove you.
“i am not doing a pom-pom cheer for a fight.” he grit his teeth.
“come on man, its his last one. we either celebrate now or he dies without ever knowing we were there for him.” johnny wrapped his arm around kung lao and kenshi.
“we can be like the Jackson 5! raiden being michael, obviously” he continued.
“i can hear you guys.” raiden turned, almost embarrassed.
“one time?” kenshi looked down at you, who was still holding on to his leg, returning his stare with puppy dog eyes, your lips wobbling.
you nodded feverishly. he sighed knowing that you have managed to knock his ego down twice now.
“ok.”
you hopped back up excitedly and immediately got your camera ready and positions set.
the kombat was long and brutal, general shao taking every attack raiden gave him and raiden doing the same. though, you do think your plan to increase raiden’s mood distracted the general at some points, allowing raiden to get some solid hits in. you could not lie, raiden’s usual shy demeanor did not match the one before you: a calm, composed, yet deadly storm. his movements also memorized you as his flash of lightning put on a show similar to that of fireworks.
and as general shao fell to the ground, it fell silent even as the ground trembled. you cheered and even entered the ring to give him a hug with the strength of a anaconda, lifting him off the ground some.
“you did it! you singlehandedly saved Earthrealm” you bounced with misplaced excitement.
“and she calls me kangaroo.” liu kang enters as well to also congratulate his champion.
sindel arose to also congratulate him before swiftly disappearing to someplace that would remain unknown to you.
“come. let us bid our hosts farewell and return to Earthrealm.” liu kang looked pleased at the state of his entourage before leading the way.

GRWM to participate in a life or death brawl!
platonic!Johnny Cage x platonic!gen-z!reader; neutral!Kenshi Takahashi x neutral!reader; platonic!Raiden x platonic!reader; platonic!Kung Lao x platonic!reader; platonic!Lui Kang x platonic!reader
@one-green-frog @whore-of-many-hot-men xox
thank you guys for showing love to my very first piece! i look forward to providing you with as much content that i can pump out! now that i’ve essentially finished the general background info, I’m gonna try to follow the storyline as closely as possible while also developing the lore for !reader. bear with me pls! don't know about any relationships taking place, but that may change. anyway, enjoy! xox
“hey guys! welcome back to my channel! as you all know, johnny and i decided to take a little vacation in between some of his big projects. that doesn’t mean that you miss out on all the action though so here’s a quick little get ready with me in this rehab facility he checked us into!” you poke your tongue out and shoot a peace sign to the camera before turning it around and showing the beautiful scenery of the monk academy.
“y/n! check this shit out!” johnny wails, he began showing his improved skills by throwing punches at a wooden dummy and with an uppercut, knocked the head a good 5 yards away.
you whistle and track the trajectory of the dummy head with your phone. you’d managed to ration out your battery life despite filming and posting an abundance of johnny’s new life of martial arts.
johnny runs over after to see the video for himself and as you play it back for him, he notices someone looking on with great disdain.
“kenshi, man! I’m telling you, if you wanna piece, all ya gotta do is ask.” he makes a show of it by flexing his arms and posing as if he was back on the red carpet.
kenshi rolls his eyes and lets out a puff of air, “i dont want anything you have to offer, john.” he crossed his arms and turns his attention toward the other guys that lui kang recruited to be the power rangers of earthrealm.
you learned that kung lao and raiden were their names. you had to stop johnny from getting himself cancelled as he tried to make references to Godzilla when the men clearly were not of that origin. but they were cool people, you’d have to make a mukbang with them one day for sure. you paused, realizing you were no better in terms of geography.
“oh really? not even sentō?” speaking of being an antagonistic asshole, johnny removed the sword from his back and waved it around, trying to perform swift and severe moves as a ninja would. he made it a goal to make the sounds as well.
you just stood at the ready, phone already recording and the sound picking up the popping of bubblegum in the background. a week in and you traded in your black flats and pantsuit for the same training attire that the guys were wearing. you were by no means throwing any punches, but you’d be damned if you didn’t match for aesthetic purposes.
kenshi stopped in his tracks, “oh i think you done did it now, johnny baby…” you twirl a curl of hair between your fingers, lowkey focused more on the rippling muscles and raging testosterone that put itself on display for you.
“now, now. if there is gonna be a brawl of any sorts, its going to be the one that decides who our champion of earthrealm will be.”
“ahhh, the all-knowing, all-powerful always has such perfect timing,” you coo. “what’s hopping kangaroo?”
“ah, i’ve been managing the behind the scenes of the competition. making sure all is in order for whomever our champion will be.” he smiles genuinely before bowing before you out of kindness. you would be rude to not return it.
“which is totally going to be me.” kung lao says affirmatively before throwing his makeshift razor-hat. it passes just over your head before getting imbedding in the side of a building.
“watch were you throw that thing! you kill my assistant, you replace her!” johnny pokes at his shoulder.
“nice to know that you value and care for her…” raiden chips in.
“word.” was all you said in agreement.
“right…” lui kang claps his hands together, looking over the lively bunch in front of him. part of you wonders if he was beginning to regret his choice in heroes.
“as I was saying, today is the day. whoever comes out victorious in the matches will be earthrealm’s champion and will go on to battle against outworld warriors to defend the title. we will start with johnny and kenshi.”
“y/n, watch me beat his ass real quick.”
“best 2 out of 3?” you say as you join lui kang on the sidelines. he simply nods.
“round 1… fight!” you say before banging the gong.
“beat his ass, johnny! wooooo!” you jump and cheer from the sidelines.
“finish me johnny cage~” a robotic voice chimed from your phone. the sideline goes silent before you mutter a quick “oops” to check what the fuck just happened.
you’re accidentally livestreaming. the voice being someone who donated. well, gotta get paid someway. you turned the phone back on the action, watching as donors flooded the chat, saying how sexy johnny looked when he was fighting and the whole nine yards.
“chat thinks you’re so cool right now. don’t disappoint!”
and how could he? with a swift uppercut, kenshi called it quits for the first round while he regained his balance and strength.
“you’re not done yet johnathan carlton!” you call. he runs over as you take a gatorade bottle and squeeze the contents into his mouth and a little bit on your hands before smacking the shit out of him. “you get out there and you finish it!” he nods without a word before bumping your fist. when he turns to get back in the ring, you deliver a swift slap to his ass for encouragement.
“does that actually help?” raiden comments. he wouldn’t lie, he was tickled by the nonchalant relationship you and Johnny exhibited.
“nah. he just has a really nice ass.” you say, body language unwavering.
it definitely wasn’t helping. he was getting his shit handed to him this round. so much so, he tagged you in.
“whyyyyy am I here! i’m so quitting after this!” you scream as you block many of kenshi’s attacks. johnny, who claims he is just taking a breather, now acted as cameraman as he and the chat giggled at your attempts to evade kenshi.
lui kang had a smirk on his face as he watched the growing potential in you. Despite your obvious fear, you were evading kenshi’s offensive moves quite diligently. He eventually spoke with the goal to guide you.
“compose yourself, y/n. you’re bouncing all over the place, use that momentum for something else.”
you were desperately running out of air from running around the ring, but you couldn’t let up or else kenshi would deploy his frustrations about johnny on you (mmmmm). despite your fear, you heard lui kang’s voice and man, does this god have a voice of reason. you had to obey. so you placed your trust in it and stopped before quickly ducking.
In doing so, you felt a gust of wind fly over your head, surely a devastating blow from kenshi. you then turned and blindly threw a punch. surprisingly, you made contact, square in the middle of his chest. he gasped for air as the assault caused it all to exit his lungs and drop to his knees. he looked up at you with a fire burning in his eyes. you did not wait to continue and tagged johnny back in.
“now who’s the kangaroo?” lui kang smiled.
“you must think you’re so funny.” you respond, completely stale-faced.
johnny ended up losing the second round, before recovering and winning the final round. quickly though, he was thrust into battle with kung lao where he lost.
“a brawl between old pals,” you start. “how you feeling kung fu panda?” you put the camera directly up to his eyebrows on a 0.5x setting, getting an insane shot of his forehead.
“first, you’re no better than johnny,” you gasp. “second, i’m feeling really confident.” he finishes.
“and you ray ray?” you proceed to give him the same media coverage.
“i’ve been waiting for this day for a while.”
“oh he’s so gonna beat your ass”
and you should’ve bet money on it too as raiden came out victorious.
“so these outworlders, they hot? mutated? what exactly should we be expecting God-Almighty?” johnny asks but not without you delivering a swift elbow to his side for his crudeness.
“outworlders do have an enhanced strength compared to humans. some also have powers like me.” lui kang demonstrated with his possession of fire.
“so what’s raiden got that can go up against people like you.” kenshi spoke up, finally seeming over the bitterness of his loss earlier.
“i am always prepared. raiden, i bestow upon you the element of lightning. i ensure that it will aid you tenaciously. i am certain earthrealm will remain in good hands with you.” He hands the amulet over and raiden immediately demonstrated his new abilities by electrocuting the shit out of some training dummies.
“ok one, he just literally roasted the fuck outta y’all and two, can he charge my phone with this new ability.”
“can you be serious for one moment?” kenshi grumbled.
“oh im sorry, i thought someone who’s ass i kicked earlier had something to say?” you retort.
he was ready to respond again, but lui kang redirected the conversation.
“it is time. we must depart. outworld is expecting us.” he begins to move his hands in the same circular motion as before and another portal beings to open up.
“y/n! y/n! Look!” johnny points as if he was kid asking his parent capture his performance.
“i got it johnny, damn! it’s not like this isn’t my whole ass job.” you roll you eyes as you break your slowly dying phone out again. before entering the portal, lui kang turned to you,
“i trust that you won’t be getting yourself in trouble?” he raised an eyebrow, his playful demeanor replaced with a serious one.
“don’t worry kangaroo, i’ll be doing the PR work for both johnny and i. count on me to clean up any mess these boys make. it’s all in the job description.”
his face screwed up in thought before he nodded.
“Let us show these outworlders what we are made of.” he led first through the portal.
-end-
I will update as much as I can but just know I am a college student with other commitments. bear with me!

chat is this real???
platonic!Johnny Cage x platonic!gen-z!reader
lowkey crack???
im crossed asf and while viewing a MK1 tiktok w/ Johnny and ‘International Love’, couldn’t help but think of how cool it would be to be Johnny Cage’s assistant… like he has the same energy as a Gen Z-er. We’d be besties fr.
just so u know, im black and fem so !reader is gonna be interpreted as black and fem xox
“johnny baby~” you trilled as you step out of the Uber to meet him at his house. as his social media manager, it was your job to record all the content across all social media platforms. with his new movie coming out paying homage to the ‘Indiana Jones’ franchice, you thought it would be good for promo if you recorded you both doing a trendy Tiktok dance.
fans of Johnny Cage knew you nearly as a duo. when people conduct interviews on a set or on the red carpet, people could always count on you ready to capture that night’s funniest quote or moment that would circulate like crazy. you’d also frequently appear in them, physically forcing johnny to keep up with the latests trends as a nearing 40 year old man. The comments would always be filled with remarks like “i fear for your well-being if you EVER get rid of y/n” or “y/n’s mind neverrr misses”. safe to say, your career is secured.
you nearly skip to his door when you notice the door was wide open, obvious signs of a break-in occurring. “oh my god,” you inhaled deeply, the tone coming from a mix of your head and your belly. “mr. cage!” you then screech, you hide in the nearest shrubs while fishing through your purse to find your phone then your taser. when the two items occupy your grasp, you look up to sky, take a deep breath, then let out a war screech. simultaneously, you start the instagram live while holding down the button of your taser, the electric crackles breaking up the audio of you screaming.
you run in through his foyer before stumbling upon a scene between some japanese guy strapped to a chair, a man with glowing fucking eyes, and two hot guys. ok, maybe one hot guy, the other guy had literal frost coming from his hand… still hot tho.
“Oh damn y’all.. i just caught the behind-the scenes of johnny’s gay porn. my fault og’s.” you said before abruptly ending the livestream.
you barging in phone-first with the need to catch johnny cage’s demise on camera being the first thing you think of before your wellbeing (the taser) had johnny chuckling a bit. if anything, had it actually been his demise, at least you would’ve got his good side. he liked that you were committed to the job as he was committed to cinema. suddenly, a lightbulb idea hit him.
“oh~” he chuckled. “i hope you don’t mind if i bring my assistant.” he patted the shoulder of the glowing-eye man, before tipping his sunglasses at you . “I’m afraid i won’t be at my 100% otherwise.”
“nuh-uh” you raise your eyebrows, appalled that he was gonna offer your service on behalf.
“uhhh yuh-huh.” johnny mocked you now turning toward you. the party that you’ve yet to address just look between the two of you riff off one another. johnny (supposedly one of Earthrealm’s defenders) and a young women (maybe the source of his strength/energy)? the two hot ones look at each other through a side eye before shrugging.
“nuh-uh johnny, that wasn’t in the contract. i told you that if you had any body other than me as your assistant right now, you would’ve been got your ass lit up in fucking court. i cant stand your ass sometimes, y’know?” johnny speed walked (sped walk?) over to you as you kept going off on his ass, before grabbing your elbow and dragging you to some corner.
“y/n~” he whined almost on the verge of throwing a tantrum. Meanwhile, you stand firm, tapping your feet as though you were impatient. “you’re embarrassing me in front of a literal god right now. and i mean LITERALLY god.” you scrunched your face up and roll your eyes. “no, believe me I thought the same thing at first, but he literally shoots fireballs out his hand and summons dragons. other two remind me of that show you watch, y’know the intro that goes ‘then everything changed when the fire nation attacked’” he nearly pouted, trying to think of a way to get you to believe him.
You raise an eyebrow, rolling your eyes at the near puppy-dog eyes johnny gives you through the dark lens of his shades, his lips nearly quivering.
“oklahoma?” you state, both of you binging had been binging ‘Ted Lasso” and thought it’d be funny (for yourselves and his audience) to start implementing it.
“oklahoma.” he returns with bated breath.
You try to see if you can gauge any other emotion before sighing and withdrawing your tense stance.
“i need you to record everything we encounter in this “Outerrealm”. for when i’m busy improvisin’ and kickin’ ass. all of it.” He paced both hands on your shoulder.
“24/7?” you question.
“yes.”
“sounds like an unpaid business trip. what’s in it for me?” You respond almost before he could finish the word.
“$1 million pension and I’ll let you have 50% of the rights on the new movie i make about this shit.” He responded just as fast.
“done. nice doing business with you old man.” you shake his hand.
almost as quickly as he pulled you away, you fix your appearance before heading back out to the living room to address the crowd of supernatural men.
“alright boys. you heard him, the name’s y/n and i need to be with johnny 24/7. if i can’t go, he can’t go. We have a very tight schedule to run and demands must be met before we let you squeeze in your alleged plans to save the world.” you cross your arms in front of you and look up at the three sweaty and built (damn. damn. damn. d-) men.
“my name is lui kang, champion and protector of Earthrealm. as much as i'd hate to have a civilian on the front line, i anticipate that your liveliness is secure. regardless, if that would make johnny more than comfortable, then i gladly accept your presence.” the  supposed god said.
“glad we could make this work” you stuck out your hand to shake all three. the god returned the gesture - his hands warm and rough. you offer the gesture to the rest of the entourage, the man permeating the frost didn’t dare look at your outstretched hand, refusing to return the gesture. but he spoke a rough “bi han” that you took as his name. the other grasped your hand and shook it, more amused at your obvious lack of knowledge of who you were dealing with. he was broken out of his thoughts when you look at your hand in near amazement. “kuai liang” he spoke.
“sir, i think you’ve just cured my anemia” your eyes widen in admiration. johnny just rolled his eyes as he cut what you assumed to be the intruder out of the chair. you address him next.
“and sorry for johnny’s affinity for ropes, he’s got a thing for BDSM.”
“do not..” he mumbles, you throw him a knowing glance.
“kenshi” he merely grunted, wiping broken glass off his suit.
“well,” you start. “looks like shit in here, but i’m sure we can write it off somewhere. what’s next on the schedule kangaroo?”
lui kang looks a bit taken aback at the nickname you chose for him, but he clears his throat to recalibrate.
“we must travel to wu shi academy to prepare for a tournament where Earthrealm’s fate lies in the hands of warriors i have hand picked.”
“and this guy is one of them?” you interrupt. the guy deemed kenshi chuckled.
lui kang smiled and nodded his head.
“well,” you check your watch. “let’s get on with it. we have a tiktok due at 7 PM and a set to be on within a week.”
lui kang turns and begins swirling his hands before a literal portal appears in johnny’s living room.
“holy-“ you start already pulling your phone out to record like johnny requested. he nudged your side as to say ‘i told you so’.
so thus, your journey begins as johnny’s personal cheerleader and assistant as he sets off to kick some serious ass and not care about the names.
-end-
!please!let!me!know!what1you!think! i feel like a suck at writing, but i do maladaptive daydream a lot so i have plenty more ideas i’d like to write about. otherwise, xoxo go piss girl
