More than anything, Alfred wished there was a word to describe this feeling he had for Ivan.
It was a strong and overwhelming feeling. One that made him freeze in his spot each time he laid eyes on the man’s face. A feeling that ignited and spread like flames through his entire body. Made him spit out words that were never meant to be said. It had his heart pounding, his blood rushing, his fists clenched, and his teeth gritted.

Checkmate
This is my secret santa piece for @artistacorn :) the account doesn’t show up anymore so if anyone knows if the username was changed please let me know ❤️
The prompt was king and knight and I wanted to try making something that felt a bit fairytale-esque. I got very into it 😭
The chess pieces they’re holding represent the other; Alfred has the king and Ivan has the knight. This drawing is meant to be about how Ivan, the king, is losing control because of his feelings. Even though he has supreme authority over Alfred (and like, everything, he’s king), his grip on the chess piece is slack and his expression is a bit nervous. Conversely, Alfred holds his piece easily between his fingers (kind of visualizing how he has Ivan wrapped around his finger) with a hand over his heart in a show of mock-respect. The little stars represent sparks but mostly I just think they look pretty. Anyway that’s the idea, happy holidays!
