Between the 11th and 12th of this month, Giulia Cecchettin, a 22-year-old Italian girl, disappeared alongside her ex boyfriend, Filippo Turetta. Today, 18th November, her body was found in a lake 140km from where I live.

For six days, we were told that they ran away together, despite the fact Giulia was supposed to graduate from university on the 16th. That we shouldn't jump to conclusions, that there wasn't any proof he had killed her, that we were crazy for even thinking it. When a video of him beating Giulia up until she was bleeding came out, newspapers were filled with declarations from his family saying he loved her, he would never do anything to hurt her, he was just a little possessive and jealous.

We all knew. We all fucking knew since we read the words "ex boyfriend".

Giulia is the 103rd woman victim of feminicide in Italy in 2023. 103.

Meanwhile, Giulia's sister Elena, who has had to spend the last week making as much noise as possible because that was her only hope of finding her sister, was asked if the family was ready to forgive him. Newspapers talk about how good of a guy he was, they carefully avoid saying he murdered her, they refer to them as a couple. I've lost track of how many men have taken time to comment "not all men" under posts about Giulia.

Not all men, but all women.

If you live outside of Italy, you probably won't hear of this news. You probably don't know how pervasive victim blaming is in Italian news stations, how bad the statistics of feminicide are. So, please, reblog this post. Demand justice. Say Giulia Cecchettin's name.

THE MAGE

PERSONALITY

Artemis is kind, loyal and funny. She’s a bit bossy sometimes but she always everyone’s best interests at heart. She would literally do anything for her friends. She’s really impulsive and that often puts her in very dangerous situations. She’s also really smart.

MISC

Artemis started dying her hair during her second year, after Tonks pulled prank on her and put dye in her shampoo. She loved so much her green hair that she decided to always change her hair color (Colovaria helped, a lot too)

None’s ever seen Artemis with the same hair color for more that three weeks. Her friends often don’t recognize her from behind when she has a new dye

Artemis and Tulip throw the best parties. They got caught only once.

Artemis loves muggle music, especially Queen and David Bowie.

Even though Snape is always pretty harsh, he’s one of her favorite professors (and deep down he has a soft spot for her).

Rowan and Skye found her during OWLs week at three am crying her heart while singing “love of my life” to a piece of paper where she had written “outstanding OWLs” and a bowl of ice-cream, probably stolen from the kitchen. They never talked about it.

Artemis is in love with the moon. She doesn’t know why, but she’s always felt connected to it. That’s why you can often find her in the astronomy tower just staring at the moon.

She ofter sneaks Barnaby in her room because the feeling of his arms around her helps her ease her nightmares and, when she has her visions, he’s able to calm her down almost instantly.

When Rowan died, he slept with her for two months. None of the professors said nothing.

How artemis truly reacted when Rowan died

(since artemis is me and i lost one of my best friends this summer, i perfectly know how she’d react)

at first, artemis thought it was some kind of sick joke that rakepick did, but when she realized that her best friend, the one who had been with her since the beginning, truly died, she broke down.

Sobs and screams of agony ripped their way out of her throat, and she couldn’t stop clutching to her friend’s lifeless body, while merita and ben truly looked disoriented, not knowing how to deal with their friend’s breakdown.

Slowly, they made their way back to hogwarts, where artemis’ screams and cries were enough to wake the whole castle up, including her friends, who, recognized her voice, ran towards the trio. the scene was completely heartbreaking: artemis, the strong one, the one who had survived so much trauma and never talked about it, was on her knees, looking at the ceiling and screaming no, no and this can’t be true and i’m so sorry rowan, it’s all my fault.

while merula started talking about the professors about what happened, and they went to look for the body, barnaby was the first one to make a move, he got on his knees as well and embraced artemis crying, while she put all of her weight on her friend. everyone was crying.

in the end, barnaby took artemis to her dormitory, thanking dumbledore who allowed it, and penny, like the good friend she is, spent a sleepless trying to confront artemis.

the day after was totally the worst. one side of her was totally refusing that she had just a few hours prior seen her best friend dying, but the other side wanted nothing more than curl up in rowan’s bed and keep crying. but she didn’t, instead artemis became hyper aware that her friends are in danger because of her, and with tears in her eyes she started to warn them, not to get too close to the forest, not to follow her, not to try to protect her.

in the end, she never healed, of course she got better, but there were times where she’d turn to her friends after one of them or even artemis herself said something that she just knew rowan would’ve loved, and she would just say “wait until rowan hears it” only to stop in her tracks, because her friend couldn’t anymore. or sometimes she’d turn towards the spots next to her rowan used to sit in.

ps im still in year five but i know what happens and i thought i’d share this with you because i didn’t think that mc’s reaction was appropriate in the game
