Going by the lore of my Au, The mass of rumors going by is what causes Yako to become more powerful and have a more sinister look. (The more rumors and more popularity a wonder has, the more power) As you can see, she uses her as a decoy to lure her victims in to think she is a helpless little fox until they get close enough for her to pounce and not kill but more or so bring them to her dolls who keep that person captive until she turns into her human form and uses her precious scissors to cut your head which ultimately turns you into a doll. Not necessarily the same dolls that helps her but a doll version of yourself.

I drew Nene in her doll version since in my au, she doesn't make the wish until after and I have rearranged the events. Nene was honestly just going up the stairs to turn in some work to her teacher when suddenly she was transported here and blah blah all the things happened and she turned into a doll. Since she didn't know Hanako at the time he had to fight off Yako himself and it took him a bit longer to find the Yodishiro than it did in the canon anime/manga.

After, Hanako checks his pockets and thinks his knife is missing and pulls out his knife to make sure and sure enough it's there, he sighs and puts it back. When he did try to pull out his knife, the pouch with the mermaid scales fall out and soon Nene finds them. She searches up what they are in her dorm and sees that they're soul binding, Even though she doesn't really believe in supernatural stuff at the time, she was desperate to date Teru so she puts the scale in the food of a bento and gets ready to give it to him.
