Um, hi? I would like to ask again about Neverhood AU. In particular about Hoborg. Most of the time his eyes are covered by long and thick bangs, how does he see? Does he know Neverhood so well or is this a feature of his eyes? Also, about ending of Crowns and Revelations - I could be wrong, but can Hoborg now live without a crown? Does the crown now resonate with Klogg or does it divide its power between them? Is Hoborg still capable of doing his creator stuff?
Hi again! Ohhh let me remember, I guess it's like Hoborg canonically doesn't have humanoid eyes thus he doesn't need them to see, and so humanized Hoborg doesn't exactly need his eyes to be uncovered. Not sure if he knows his land that well, even though i had an askblog post about how he spent his eternal slumber strolling around Neverhood; i think he just... sees everything despite his hairstyle, there's no physical reason as to why. For a long time I was even unsure if he has eyes and if he can see at all, but at some point i did make a sketch where his bangs are moved to the side and yeah the man has a pretty much working set of eyes, it's just that there's no difference for him whether they are facing the world or not.
As for CaR, the ending is pretty unstable as it's sort of an open scenario, but I can say for sure that 1) Hoborg lives without a crown 2) Klogg is its owner now. It's all because he was the one to privatize it after Hoborg's hybernation and subsequent death, like he was promised by the man himself, and later Klogg used Klay to restore his creator to previous state, thus kinda becoming his creator as well... it's a weird yin yang situation. So Hoborg, being created from Klay, is no longer a creature of previous flesh or whatever Quater used to create him, and he has no connection with his former Crown from then on. He retains all memories of his life but doesn't have the same scratching and calling feeling from the crown, at least until he decides to put it on again for some reason but i doubt he would. For the final question - my thoughts abt the crown were that only its current wearer can use whatever possible to create life and anything else around, so yeah Hoborg can no longer do that. He can surely use materials to build or create stuff like we humans do or like Glenn (another OC) built his inventions, but it takes a lot more time and effort than just... well, creating something because you want it to appear. Klogg on the other hand got the whole potential of the crown after that incident but as of that time he was, well, quite unsure what to do after that. The search for Shuffle and Hoborg took a toll on him an he decided to dwell on his ideas for a while, staying in the Neverhood. So i'm unsure what exactly he'd do with his newly found crown powers, surely some mischief but a while after the events of CaR.

Hey, comrades, do you like small AUs that no one cares about? Well, too bad, because I have one for you.(Sorry for my English) AU – Endless Sea. Almost the same Neverhood, but very much reduced in scale - with the universe it turned into one large planet, covered mostly by a dark ocean. The sun is shining above it, but somewhat strange and weak in terms of illumination, its heating is normal.
The stories of the brothers remained practically unchanged, adjusted for the sea and the scale (so the lands of Ottoborg could not fall apart from the lack of gravity, but, say, fall apart due to the first strong storm, because they were completely artificial and were on the surface of the water).
Neverhood Island is larger in scale, with a wilder section that may slowly grow over time due to Hoborg's actions.
Regarding the characters, the story of Neverhud also remains similar, except that Klogg could have been carried away by the sea to some other lands, where others could meet him.
So, a lot of time has passed since the events of the game, the hoodians are gradually beginning to settle into the new world. Even, say, a second generation has appeared, increasingly understanding the world and its laws. What was discovered? For example, that the sea is connected with the night sky much more strongly than it seems, so it would be worth starting to satisfy growing curiosity and try to find new lands. After all, even Hoborg knows very little.
Speaking of Hoborg, he soon stopped being a king, since his person was not suited to rule. Too soft and non-conflicting, he didn’t even want it, and therefore left it to his creatures to choose from, instead trying to teach them what he knew and could do - craft and art. Perhaps since then, artisans will get used to marking themselves with a patch of two dark stripes on the right shoulder.
About the four dudes shown in the picture.
The characters in the art are Lattum, Malleus, Marre and Stellket, all names may change in the future if there is one. Lattum is the self-proclaimed guardian of the island. Malleus is an inventor and a walking disaster. Marre is a fisherman who controls a boat (as below). Stellket is an astrologer, looking down on everyone from above.

And another brother, this time the youngest. Even though Arven is quite minimalistic, I still liked to play around with his fin (fins in my case). It may not be pure humanization, but it's still pretty close, ha.

The second I decided to draw was the eldest of the brothers, Ogdilla . Ogdilla is a great character to humanize and reference because he literally has nothing but a crown, and that's what makes him beautiful. And I couldn’t resist making him to match my favorite type “Chthonic in a robe with glowing eyes”

There are days when you feel something like a Dark Urge to do something that seems very dubious to you. But in the end you just can't stop and you do it... A humanization of Hoborg that was inspired by the works of nmoroder. Perhaps even too much inspired, so I’m a little scared to post this. If the author of the series of those Neverhood humanizations sees me, then... I’m really, really sorry if something is wrong:"

Meh, maybe try to post something about my elemental world here. Not that it will lead to anything, but who knows...

Hello, I just wanted to ask about the Neverhood AU. Do you have any headcanons related to it, that you could share? For example, how does Crown or its corruption work? Because it seemed to influence corrupted characters quite differently. I'm just wondering…
hi! ohh my headcanons sadly aren't compiled into some list or group for convenience, but i can try to remember smth about the crowns
while thinking about Crowns and Revelations, i presumed that each creator's crown kinda resonates with their desires and overall personality, in case of Hoborg that would be creation itself cuz he set himself a goal of constructing a perfect land and gave quite a lot of time and effort to it. and if one puts on the crown, they get overwhelmed by, forgive me for this word, its vibes and turn to sort of fulfilling the crown owner's will (original owner i mean, Hoborg in our case). so in CaR Shuffle puts on his crown and turns into a creation machine, expressing that urge through transforming everything he sees into something he knows, before the delirium kinda ceased and he realized what he's done to the land around him.
but there's the thing about being overcome by a crown's influence - if your own desire is strong enough, you retain your will and can kinda uhh... feel the inspiration, so to say, like thoughts about cool things you could do but not very intrusive. that's why Klogg didn't dive head first into it as he put on the crown, he had his own plans and was I think pretty determined about them. i mean, he DID create some atrocities later, see the Clockwork Beast and Engine Number Nine or whatever its name was; but it wasn't something he couldn't fight, it was his own desire and he had it even without the crown (see the Engine).
in case of Shuffle, he had no strong desire apart from protecting Hoborg i guess, and considering how he built a shelter underground at that land and hid hybernated Hoborg deep inside, the desire did manifest in those actions. however he still wasn't driven by something personal, he wasn't egoistic in his drive and thus the crown replaced his non-existent egoism for a while.
i guess it can be all described by this sentence: for those lacking a driving force, the crown becomes it instead, otherwise it's a helping hand in achieving your desire.
for corruption itself it's much simpler in my opinion, even though Hoborg strived to make his creatures perfect, they're still his close to first attempt at creating someone, so yeah they just wouldn't handle the power the crown gives. perhaps Klay as a material isn't good enough, who knows

"Zanzo wasn't hit hard enough, so he get his revenge arc" It's also incredible to see him in your style, the color work is breathtaking, as usual!

Teaser Tuesday! A finish panel this time. I think I've managed to give every single character and (almost) every robot from HFR some kind of cameo or at least a mention.

Zanzo mostly has white and gold combinations in his clothing, but what about more elegant black and silver?

Combining two games that I have a bit of an obsession with. Some facts about each of the characters. Peppermint - common slugcat, capable of crafting. Kale - just as common, but perhaps has the ability to recognize and extract valuables (pearls and gold of the ancients) that others cannot. Rekka - tenacious and aggressive, exclusively a carnivour. She is capable of making an powerfull jump from above, causing great damage to other animals, and biting into stunned ones, but she requires a lot of food, plus she suffers from a lack of agility and speed in some moments. Zanzo - really dexterous aquatic slugcat that does not deal much damage, more often dies from lizard bites, but is capable of advanced crafting. He can't store extra food for hibernation at all. Roquefort - hybrid of a slugcat and a wolf spider. Paralyzes the prey at a distance and then bites into it. Has excellent food storage abilities. Hates water. Normal damage, requires a little more food. Macaron - Can take more hits than anyone, a peaceful and slow-moving slugcat who prefers plant-based foods. Rolls up into a ball to move faster, the plates on its back protect against stones and spears. Capable of stunning enemies for a long time with a slide. Korsika - can hold two spears in each paw, is very dexterous and strong, but the rot that has struck her heart does not allow her to be in active movement for too long. CNMN - may have been built by some iterator out of boredom. 808 - purposed organism, biomechanical lantern mouse. She was supposed to record ambient sounds for later playback, but one day she swallowed a musical pearl and now plays only music. Mimosa - flying slugcat. Very good at mobility, especially with differences in altitudes, requires less food, but is also less capable of storing. With a sharp opening of the membranes, she can scare away the lizards behind her. Chai - normal, slightly faster slugcat, but his combat effectiveness increases as the things get more and more dangerous (aka moments when the threat theme music kick in). Has a cool scarf.
