And believe me, you don’t want that

In fanfiction there is a difference between being a good writer and a popular writer.
Just because you can write a well-structured story with dynamic and consistent writing and characters doesn’t mean you will be popular. And sometimes stories that have disorganized plots, mediocre writing, and/or OOC characters will be held up as the greatest things to ever exist.
Just because your writing isn’t popular doesn’t mean you are a bad writer. Don’t ever compromise who you are, who your characters are, your plot, your writing style, anything for the sake of readership.
There are popular writers everywhere. But there are only so many good writers.

a kind caring character being kind and caring because they actively choose to be despite their anger and trauma will always be infinitely more compelling and relatable than them just being a pure innocent baby uwu

i can’t stop thinking about how when SKAM S3 first aired it was during a time in television, something that is still happening in television, when LGBTQ+ characters and couples didn’t get their happy ending. When they died for the sake of drama or the sake of giving another character a storyline or development, or just because.
But then we also had SKAM S3 airing and it had the POV of a young teen who struggled with internalized homophobia and the fear of coming out and struggling with himself, and also with the way he saw the world. And the season was heavily paralleled with Romeo + Juliet - this popular and worldwide tragedy that has been told so many times, and I can remember thinking ‘oh not again’ or ‘here we go again’. And then episode 8 aired and Even’s “the whole joke is that you think that it’s a romeo and juliet reference. but you don’t get it until you enter the balcony” and then episode 9 aired and just WOW.
it was never supposed to be a tragedy and Even is the director of his own life, and his life isn’t a tragedy - it’s a romantic drama/comedy. It’s “you’re not alone” and “only you can feel what you feel” and it’s minute by minute.
So honestly, FUCK EVERYONE who tries to belittle this season or the characters or belittle the representation it gave and awareness and the hope that it brought. I feel bad for people who feel the need to belittle it to pimp something else, and not realize that it’s this story that gave us seven other possible representations and versions that bring awareness and hope.
