The Miser Brothers

The other day I felt like watching The Year Without a Santa Claus, I wasn’t planning to make some Rankin Bass inspired fan art so late, (maybe I’ll do some more next year) but the movie is so good so I had to.

And the Miser Bros are the best characters in the movie, even though they’re not in the movie that much, their scenes are the highlights of the movie. So I drew Snow Miser and Heat Miser with another Nature.

I like the part when Mrs Claus says she’s going over their heads and are going to tell their mother, I love that they are such mama’s boys.

Disney Villain Munchlings

These are inspired by the Disney Munchling toys, thought it would be cute seeing the Disney Villains interact with their character inspired desserts.

These are some things I made for Halloween but I wasn’t sure if I should post them. So they are a very late Halloween post.

Wendell and Wild meets Pain and Panic

Recently my best friend and I watched Wendell and Wild on Netflix. We both enjoyed it, we both love stop motion animation (and animation in general) and it was an awesome movie.

While watching it, my best friend said “those character designs remind me of the demons from Hercules” and I was like “oh yeah, Pain and Panic”.

And the similarities are clear as day; they’re devil like creatures with wings, horns and forked tails, there’s a short chubby one and a taller skinny one, they are always referred to as a duo and they start with alliteration (W&W, P&P) 😈

So I thought it would be fun seeing them interact, I think they would get along well. And I thought it would be funny seeing them trip out on the magic hair cream like in the movie.

The Picasso like designs were challenging, but I like to challenge myself. It was fun drawing the characters.

If you haven’t seen Wendell and Wild yet, I recommend it. If you like movies like The Nightmare Before Christmas, Corpse Bride, ParaNorman and Coraline, if you love stop motion animation and if you want some fun devilish fun for Halloween, Wendell and Wild is the movie for you.

Pibby Minisodes: Prepare for Battle

Pibby prepared for battle against the Glitch, with the army of friends she made along the way.

I thought it would be cute seeing Pibby riding on Pinkie into battle, like a noble steed. And watching the video, I like that her hand sticks to the sword, it’s like Powerpuff Girls logic.

Pinkie is armed with her party cannon (maybe she had a new one recreated in a forge idk) and she is firing Coco’s eggs while the crazy palm tree plane bird drops eggs everywhere. (I was thinking of Pinkie using Coco as an egg firing gun, like when she used Twilight as a magic firing machine gun , but maybe using Coco as a cannon would be too weird)

Melira has her acme ray gun from the trailer, Mojo also is equipment with a ray gun, Lady Rainicorn is blasting magic beams and I thought I would also include Grim from The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy. GAOBAM is one of my favourite Cartoon Network shows, my siblings and I all love it. Grim’s scythe is powerful but not strong enough to destroy the Glitch.

And just for fun, characters in the Glitch include Kenny, Peppa and Bendy. I honestly don’t watch South Park but everyone knows that running gag. Peppa is a brat and a bad role model for kids so I thought I would sacrifice her to the Glitch. And then there’s Bendy, anyone that watched Fosters Home for Imaginary Friends will never forget that episode. He was horrible, he never got punished, the other characters were blamed for everything and he got away with it. So I Hope Fosters fans will find this cathartic.

Pibby Minisodes: Pibby and Jack

I have a lot of favourite shows, and Samurai Jack is one of them. Jack appeared in the Learning with Pibby video during the battle, and I thought it would be nice it Jack helped train Pibby to become a fighter.

And I think Pibby and Jack sort of mirror each other, like Pibby at the start of the trailer compared to the end of the trailer is like Jack in the first 4 seasons compared to season 5. Pibby with her hair down and an eye patch is like Jack when he grew that beard, they had to toughen up in order to survive this apocalyptic world.

And Jack has had his moments when he is at his lowest point and feels like there’s no hope. So when Pibby confides in him that she feels like things are bleak, he can relate.

I thought it would be sweet seeing Jack train Pibby, and her show is about learning so she is willing to learn.

My goal is to try and nail the style of the show from characters and backgrounds, and I think it looks pretty close.

If Come and Learn with Pibby becomes a series, I hope we get a scene like this.

Pibby Minisodes: Pibby and friends

Pibby tries to keep the group’s spirits up, I think Pibby would keep a brave face and try to comfort everyone.

Like I said before, Pinkie could be a good use to the group as she runs on cartoon physics, can break the 4th wall and she has dealt with destructive forces before in her own show.

Coco from Fosters can also be a usual ally, as she is a wild card, she can be fearless in situations and he egg laying powers can come in handy, it’s like a random draw, her eggs could produce ammo, or supplies.

And Lady Rainicorn appeared in the trailer (but they forgot her rainbow stripes and she looked like a long pink worm horse so I thought I would fix that.) And it makes sense she would join the cause, she lost the love of her life, Jake, and her friend Finn, and probably her other friends like PB.

If Pibby gets picked up for a series, I hope there is a scene like this

Pibby Minisodes: Pibby in Townsville

While running away from a bunch of glitched out cartoons, Pibby runs into Mojo Jojo. I thought it would be funny if he mistook her for a Powerpuff girl, since with her similar proportions, she looks a little like Bubbles.

And that maybe Mojo can become a reluctant ally, similar to Melira being a villain, maybe Mojo would be like “if that thing destroys the world, there’ll be nothing for me to take over”.

I also wanted to use the classic Powerpuff Girl style that I grew up with, the early 2000’s series, not the 2016 series. Also I heard some people didn’t like the angular design Mojo got in the mid season, I liked the angular design, he looked more evil and threatening with the sharp angles and pointed ears, but I thought I would go for the classic rounded eared Mojo, I guess he looks more like a chimp that way.

And maybe Pibby can be aware of the Tom Kenny narrator and tries to ask him to help but there is nothing he can do.

Pibby Minisodes: Pibby and Pinkie

While Come and Learn with Pibby hasn’t been picked up for a series, it’s up to the fans to keep it alive. So I thought it would be fun to make a small series of pictures of Pibby entering other worlds, imagining how the show could play out.

I thought Pinkie could be an ally in Pibby’s team, as she has the power to break the 4th wall and she runs on cartoon physics. Also they compliment each other as they are both sweet optimistic characters, and when Pibby has her hair down at the end looks similar to Pinkie with her hair down.

Here Pibby comforts Pinkie, I think she would keep a brave face for the other characters, even when she has her doubts.

Pibby’s Nighmare

I had this comic finished for a while, but I never got around to posting it, since I work on a hundred different things and I’m never satisfied with my work, but sometimes you just have to shrug and go “it’s good enough, don’t worry”.

I’ve been excited for Learning with Pibby since the trailer, I love cartoon crossovers. And the idea is brilliant, other cartoon characters have been corrupted and a rag tag team made up of a superhero sidekick, a villain and a host from a preschool show must travel from post apocalyptic cartoon worlds.

This has been a rough year for animation fans, some stuck up out of touch wind bags looking down on animation because they don’t understand it, and the whole situation of WB and HBO, cartoons being purged at the people that worked on them getting the shaft, it’s really sad. Hopefully things will get better.

And I hope Pibby gets picked up, it already has a cult following, the trailer blew up in popularity in a short amount of time and there’s so much potential for crossovers. Fingers crossed that Learning with Pibby gets picked up for a series.

Uh Oh... We’re in trouble!

This was an idea I had in my head for a long time, this is based on the post credit scene from the Mighty Morphin Power Ranger Movie.

For those that haven’t seen it, the new villain of the movie, Ivan Ooze trapped the regular villains, Rita Repulsa and Lord Zedd in a snow globe.

Ooze tells the 2 henchmen, Goldar and Mordant “you can either serve me, or join theses insufferable dingle-dorks”. And Goldar says “we never liked those dingle-dorks in the first place” and quickly jump ship to their new boss...

at the end of the movie when Ivan Ooze is destroyed and the Power Rangers saved the day, the credits roll for a while, then we cut to a post credit scene of the 2 lackeys goofing around.

Goldar is pretending to be in charge, Rita and Lord Zed walk in through the door and they both turn to each other and say “Uh Oh”, then Trouble by Shampoo plays in the credits.

So I thought it would be funny what if there was a post credit/ after credit scene in Hercules of Pain and Panic living large without Hades. We all know the “If. If is good” scene and Hades may or may not come back, but if he does he would be boiling mad.

Since he is a God, he can’t die, there is a chance that he would crawl out of the pit, it might take weeks, months, years, even a century but he’ll be furious. He’s crawled out of the River Styx, his clothes are torn, he’s covered in soul slime or Styx water and has some souls clinging to him. (I like how the souls turned out, it was a challenge to make them slightly translucent and you can see Hades through them)

This could be a funny post scene but I also like in the movie when we have Hades just shouting into the void “What am I, an echo or something? Hello?! I’m talkin’ to what? Hyper space?!”

The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers movie came out in 95, while Disney’s Hercules came out in 97, so being 2 years apart, they could have made a reference.

Party in the Underworld

Recently the trailer for the upcoming Cuphead Show has dropped online, and there is a scene of the Devil throwing a party for himself.

And people online have been using it as a meme template, such as the devil is a parent, teacher or boss taking credit for everything while his minions look on.

I just thought the scene works well with Hades, Pain and Panic, because it’s the lord of the underworld, his grovelling imp henchmen, the dialogue suits the characters well and the clip is called “party in the underworld” 🥳 😈

As an extra gag, I gave Panic two party hats and put them on his horns. It’s like that meme of Mr Krabs and if he wears a hat on his head or his eye stalks.

I am so excited for The Cuphead Show on Netflix, I love animation and they nailed the vintage cartoon look.

Trick and Treat

I got this idea last December while watching The Nightmare Before Christmas, and I thought that Oogie Boogie’s henchmen; Lock, Shock and Barrel, have some similarities with Pain and Panic.

Lock, obviously has a devil costume, a red colour scheme and a fancy hair style. While Shock is taller, had a green colour scheme and a long pointed nose. But when Pain and Panic are meeting Lock and Shock, what could Barrel be doing? I guess while the imps are distracted he’s up to something bad. Panic wasn’t quick enough to warn his friend, but lucky for them they recover quickly.

In the end, Pain and Panic get pay back, teach the bratty kids a lesson, and they sit on their big bag of Halloween candy while Barrel is trying to get a piece of candy corn. First they got the trick, in the end they got the treat.

One thing that I love is drawing expressions, the challenging thing was drawing these Tim Burton characters that are stop motion but trying to nail the style or their movies. Hope I did ok.

Sedimentary Stone meets Marble Pie.

I think Marble needed a love interest since Big Mac broke her heart, that was a loose end that wasn’t wrapped up in the finale. Since Big Mac is now married to Sugar belle, I think Marble needs to find a good colt friend.

I didn’t want Sedimentary to be thin and lanky like Cheese Sandwich and Mud Briar, he needs to be bulky and strong because he’s a miner. I think Igneous Rock Pie would aprove of Mr Stone courting his daughter.

I was going to name him Granite Stone but that sounded like a Flintstones character. I think Sedimentary Stone sounded nicer and I looked up that Marble is also a sedimentary rock so they suit each other. #mlp #marblepie #OC #shipping

This is something I made for Mermay. I thought of making a tradtional fairy tale, maybe about a forbidden love between people from two opposing kindgoms, magic casting mermaids and mighty warrior shark people. I picture them meeting together in secret and dancing together.
