Official Crop Haven server!

A few of you may remember the old discord server, which is up for archival purposes but is really not used right now. So I made another one! And it's more proper. Come join us! It's quiet right now and if you'd like to report bugs or need fixes, this will be the place to get that. I'll also be sharing WIPs and such a whole lot.

You will need to make an introduction in the introduction channel before you can access the rest of the channels! This means you will enter and not see much, but mods can give you access to the server once you've introduced yourself. This is sort of a security measure!

With all that aside, come on in!

3/4/2024 Update Log

If you haven't read this post about the status of Crop Haven, please do!

Hello everyone! Sme big news! I've finally finished the one quest about finding out what happened to Martin's birdseed! However, there's a very big announcement to be made, so do read further!

First, let's talk about this quest. It's a bit of a back and forth run, asking around and asking for information. You accuse some people of being a criminal, et cetera. That said, you get a good reward...And that reward is...

Safie, Captain of the Royal Guard- a new candidate!

Safie was a popular NPC since I created her, many amongst friends wishing she was a candidate. So while she has no fancy card yet, and I need to update the existing cards anyway...She's going to be romanceable!

Some other things I've done is add Dye to the game, patrolling the water of the docks...

Basically, lots of stuff with the guards. I even added a new guard, Topaz! But for now, that's all! Welcome Safie to the roster!

"Oh, wow! So you're the one who has helped turn the tides of the town.. and you aren't even a monster! How fascinating!"

I made a render of the new self-insert I mentioned a couple of days ago, now that I've finally designed and constructed a reference model for her! This is Fioritura, or just Fiori for short - she's a siren inhabiting the waters around the town of Crop Haven, specifically being sighted near to the castle, for some reason. That "some reason" may or may not be a certain human servant who arrives there in the second year.. who knows?~

This render was quite tricky to get right, to the point that I actually had to try it twice with a different set of effects - but I was quite happy with how it turned out in the end. I hope it's therefore alright to use my tag list for this, even though it isn't explicitly a selfship render!

New Crop Haven Update! Newer than Ever!

(The following has been copied from a dev log on Itch.Io) . Also, please read this update on the game's progress before now, and how I have re-done it all.)

Hello everyone! I've uploaded a very WIP new version of Crop Haven's new look! This is completely coded from scratch based on the last versions, but much more coherent and cleaner. We also have a new title screen, since the last one was meant to be a placeholder all this time. Please be gentle on it, and do not record playthroughs or other media that shows it off such as streaming. Liveblogging on social media or Discord is OK.

Some other things to be known:

You can only really MEET people right now. Gift systems aren't implemented, but the quests that introduce a few characters are. This is really just a basic release to show it isn't dead, and to replace the other files that were up.

Some appearances/sprites for the player may glitch or are not fully completed, so be aware of any mishaps. Still, if you find one that is especially strange, let me know! I'd like to be able to fix it up.

If you find glitches that break the game, too, obviously let me know! And tell me the error you got specifically.

Happy New Years 2024! Update

If you have not read this pinned post on the current status of Crop Haven, please do!

This year has started with a bang, and that means more Crop Haven updates! (Including implementing a CG for Lambi, shown above!)

I've made Martin's introduction into a small quest to find her head! You can ask around and meet the other inhabitants of the Castle, or just go straight to the place her head is missing. No pressure for social interaction, thank you! You can tell I remodeled the kitchen a bit.

As a matter of fact, I've updated the castle to look a little nicer all over! Here's the outside, plus the library!

I've added a little notification for when you get your journal updated - in other words, when an entry for a quest changes! Still tinkering with it, but it uses a very handy plugin by Yakinori! Thanks Yakinori!

Also, on the note of the Martin quest, you can carry Martin's head now. Consider it preparation for carrying Fool's corpse in their quest, yes?

Hello all! I've implemented several other candidates back into the game in my re-coding of it. That said, they're not able to accept gifts nor be chatted with yet, but they do exist within the game now! You can meet them and everything.

Farming has been implemented, as well as a small crouch sprite for when you harvest/plant things.

More updates below the readmore!!

I've updated the look of the fences as well! Much cuter now. Working on implementing new doors, too, like the rounder door into the player's house!

You can talk to Ghaston for lore about the Gods now! Especially Kami. He loves Kami. Sorry about the preaching first meeting, everyone.

Shrimp also has her own room now! She used to just live in the barn, which felt a little rude. Now she has her own space, plus a nice centaur (cowtaur) friendly bed on the floor! Not shown here, but I also edited the backroom of the clinic and given its occupants an upstairs bedroom! These function as Dahlia and Doc's home, of course.

I've made much more progress than I can show here, but it's getting done! Might make a video sometime displaying gameplay of this new version! Will share here if I do that. Thanks for the support!

Updating the CG art! They're not receiving big changes, just cleaning up the lines and making the shading a little different to match my more recent style. The old ones are on the left, while the new are on the right. More are being worked on, too, but these are the ones I've altered so far.

I'm slowly re-implementing the small part of the town! The post office, Tammy's Merchant, meeting Surge and Vanessa, and so forth. Many characters' dialogue have been rewritten, but the general idea remains. I've also made Grandma May's request to go after Lei into an actual small quest. Very simple and short, but you still get rewarded.

...On the other hand, Grandpa Day's dialogue remains exactly the same. As it should, I feel.

Last but not least, I've got that map I mentioned last update. It marks your location, including the roads and not just the locations.

Update 7/18/2023

Progress is moving along! I've re-implemented the feeding system for the barn animals, as well as made a fishing sprite for funsies.

I've also updated the way the game counts off people you've met. I need to fix the text on the left page here to reflect that, but now it will check off what characters you've met so far amongst the townsfolk!

Finally, I've implemented Tammy and Sherry so far, aka the general store "Tammy's Merchant" and the post office! I've also implemented a new map, but that can come in a different post.

Thanks for your patience and support! Remember, the version on itch.io is old and no longer the current project! I keep it up just so people can get a taste of the concept.

Update 4/22/2023

As of 4/22/2023, I have not made a whole lot of progress in terms of re-coding the game, but I have made updates to the Way the player’s home functions, and am making various new sprites and interactions in the home.

For instance, for fun I am acting making the wardrobe into something, and giving the players default pajamas! They also change into the pajamas for bed. More clothes (and pajamas!) will be unlockable as the game goes.

Finally, I’m working on a TV! So far, it only has references to my other projects for fun based on the channel you pick. But it is coming along:

Very Important Update.

Hello everyone! It’s been a few years of Crop Haven’s development, and I’ve come to inform of something very crucial to its development.

I am going to be recoding the game from scratch.

The reason for this is because as I started the game, I began by not knowing what I was doing. I have many systems implemented, but some I don’t use. But I don’t remove their code, because I don’t know if doing so will break part of the game. The game as it is is very glitchy, and I feel guilty releasing something I can’t promise I can fix bugs for.

As a result, I am going to remake it. It will remain an RPG Maker MV game, and all assets are currently going to be the same. All dialogue will be transferred as well, etc. It’s just making it cleaner, but to do so, I need to stat more or less from the ground up.

Thank you SO much for the support and love over the years. I hope to re-release a better version of the game soon, and appreciate your patience as we take this next step into a proper Crop Haven work. PS: The current version will stay up for download, but know it is not going to be anywhere near the finished work.
