i keep thinking about jean’s POV of riko going to hit neil.

in aftg, neil is so focused on riko coming down with his racket to hit him that it seems like andrew comes out of no where to save him but i love that jean sees it. and it’s not like he just moves out of goal or anything, no, he HAULS ASS to get to neil to save him. that to me says everything. i love them so bad

When Caleb gets home from the day’s classes with a fresh stack of essays in his satchel, he finds Essek in the kitchen. This in itself is a surprise. But more than that, he is frowning over a small mound of minced garlic and onions on a chopping board.

“You don’t seem very pleased with your work,” Caleb observes.

“Ah, hello,” Essek says absently, prodding at the onions. “I never did get the hang of doing this—not that I need to chop them evenly. It will not matter once they are all in the pan. But it bothers me, nevertheless.”

Upon closer examination, the vegetables are rather poorly diced. Caleb considers offering Essek a hand, but he doesn’t want to cause an affront to Essek’s dignity. Instead, he seats himself on a stool and cups his chin in his palm. Johann twines around his ankles and settles at his feet for a nap.

Essek glances up at him, a wry smile on his face. “Are you going to sit there without even offering to help me?”

“Yes,” Caleb says immediately. “Unless you have any objections, that is. In which case, I will heave an infinitely sad sigh and retreat to the study to check today’s homework.”

Caleb receives an eyeroll for his impertinence, but Essek softens. “I usually dislike people watching me cooking because I know I do not do a very good job of it. But if you must stay, then I suppose it is alright.”

I do not mind you watching, is what Essek is trying to say. It makes Caleb smile. Johann purrs in assent from where he is curled up at Caleb’s feet.
