Do ducks in Ducktales(2017) have tattoos? Would they be visible or under their feathers?
(It’s common in the military for soldiers to get tattoos to reflect their branch, rank, or platoon. Since Donald was in the Navy, I kinda had the idea of the triplets seeing his tattoos...maybe during a molting season, to ask about it. Other than his Navy tattoos, he’d have one for his twin. And also the triplets.
The triplets tattoo in my headcanon happened after the Spear of Selene. Della’s and Donald might have gotten matching tattoos when they got to legal age as an act of solidarity and rebellion. [Scrooge is old school, and old school thinking about tattoos and all...] Which would actually be painful for him to look at. Because back then, him and Della were always on the same page! She listened to him at least! OOOh, as I’m writing it, I changed my mind. Donald unable to look at the tattoo after the Spear of Selene, re-touches it and changes the tattoo. As far as he knows, Della’s gone[And he’s very bitter and angry about how she went] and he has to focus on the future..the boys who need him.
At first, maybe the shock of Della being gone was too powerful. The denial that happened next even stronger still. He wasn’t feeling and he knew he had to start feeling because the triplets would need him and need him to be emotionally available! The tattoo was another act of rebellion....the act of moving forward!
So just imagine Scrooge seeing the tattoo changed in season one. Then Della seeing it.
The kids reseeing it after learning everything.)

Look at me, learning new things! :D I’m learning to make gifs! This is from the Ducktales(2017) short “Donald”. This is back in season one. The gag here is that rather than waste money on more candles, Scrooge has One Promethean Candle. guaranteed never to go out....
Tumblr media
But I edited it for you fanfic writers(or artist) so it can read as follows. It’s his first birthday back at McDuck Manor since the kids realized who their extended family is. They’ve gained a sister and Donald another kid. They’re healing. They’re moving forward.
When the song’s over and it’s time to make a wish, he wishes for the same thing he’s wished on since it happened. To have Della back. When the candle doesn’t go out, he frowns and what should have been a happy occasion becomes somber. His wish can’t come true. It won’t. So the fire won’t go out.

god i just found this again while folder cleaning
Tumblr media
one of the few crossdressing ducks that didn’t make me break out in hives, on account of not having been forced to do it for emasculating reasons or anything, it’s just a practical solution to daisy having too many obligations since they look exactly, and i mean exactly the same
Tumblr media
one of those obligations was manning a kissing booth for charity and donald punching a catcaller in the face escalates into guys just fucking lining up to get decked by a cute little duck

Headcanon I’ll later try to turn into a fic when I have time:
When Webby calls to check in with May and June while they’re on their trip with Donald and Daisy, the girls refer to Donald as ‘Dad’. HDL just so happen to in the room and all have a reaction to that!
However Donald went through his grief of losing his sister and having his fight with Scrooge and having to be the responsible voice of reason for the sake of the triplets and take on full responsibility of their well beings, had it’s toll on him. He had to balance what he told the kids as they grew up. He could have accepted the role of their father and let them call him dad but his loyalty to his sister wouldn’t let him do that. Donald may be an omitter but he’s not a liar. So he told the boys as they grew up the difference and that he was their uncle.
It was a whole thing for them growing up, but in the end they all accepted that he was Uncle Donald despite the fact that he worked his tail feather off so make sure they were fed, dressed, and had a roof over their heads! He made sure they were loved. He did everything a father should do! He was basically their dad who just didn’t get to claim the title of it.
So I can imagine that (not only would they all have reactions and feelings when they learned Donald was gonna go off with Daisy.) when they hear May and June call Donald ‘dad’ they all have a reaction. A reaction that’s maybe amplified when either of them or both call out to Donald as ‘Dad’ to inform them they’re on video call with everyone at the McDuck Manor, and he responds and shows up in view and doesn’t correct them!
I have feelings. I have ideas. Hopefully I’ll have the time to make a proper fic....

This is a side blog I made on my rp blog, so I can’t reply to comments. I was aware that the show wasn’t cancelled, I just get my terminology mixed up as well as I was more lamenting the poor shows that got axed before they could reach their natural end. Or an end which the creators were satisfied with.
Which I’m sure the DT17 crew learned from. To have a sure idea of the main plots they wanted to tackle and get done that was possible with their time allotted.
Spoiler free thoughts on the finale.
It touches on topics I wish we could have seen fleshed out and better paced, and given it’s proper spotlight.
But as someone who has been through more than a few shows with abrupt cancellations where not even the show-runners/writers were informed by the network’s decisions….this was a great ending! And it’s no easy feat either, given how many characters there are! Giving enough attention to the groups and clusters, still having a plot, and having an ‘ending’ note…this show did an amazing job.
We live in a time where it’s known for shows to have heart and story and I like to believe that if the writers had the funding and time, we could have gotten so much more. So it’s a small reminder here that the writers and creators have bosses and a work place with goals to meet. It’s part of a business and unlike Scrooge, show business ain’t fair and square.
I cannot wait to see what fan artist and writers take from the finale, what stuff continues to be made, what elements spoke to them that they expand on!

Donald really is a bad a$$! There is a lot of inspiration for sure!  Whether you want to explore some angst! Or just need a daily ‘Donald Duck is awesome and a true bada$$!’ reminder, this is a great summary of his history in war.
Tumblr media
I was doing idle research in hope of some inspiration in regards to Donald’s military time and what his rank was, and came across this.
It’s given me some ideas, but maybe it could also inspire others! (I’ll copy and paste it below in case the picture is hard to read)
Health
There is a running gag in the Donald Duck comics about him being physically unhealthy and unmotivated to exercise. Usually, some character close to Donald annoys him by saying he is being lazy and needs to get some exercise. But despite his apparent idleness, Donald proves that he is muscular. In the short film, Sea Scouts, Donald is traveling with his nephews in a boat when it is attacked by a shark. Donald makes several attempts to defeat the shark, each of which proves ineffective, but then finally triumphs and defeats the shark with a single well-placed punch. Additionally, as discussed below- Donald had a stint in the U.S. Army during World War II that culminated with him serving as a commando in the film Commando Duck, and he was frequently away serving in the U.S. Navy in the television cartoon series DuckTales.

I would like to apologize to the nonny who requested DT Character/Reader fics from me. Other than real life being a whirlwind of complications lately, X/Reader fics are apparently hard for me to write. It’s different than a DT oc even....plus, with Ducktales I do better when it comes to familial and platonic stuff.
I’m so very sorry v.v

It’s 3am and I’m having headcanons about Donald befriending the Penguins from Penguins of Madagascar during his Navy days. Donald fits in surprisingly very well with them!
They have complicated handshakes that are amazing to watch be performed.
Rico and Donald for a time was part of the Caballeros band until duty called him back.
Private looked up to Donald as a rolemodel and loved the nurturing factor Donald had.
Kowalski was amazed Donald’s luck and loved to analyze probability around him.
And Skipper admired the fierce anger and would be very honored to serve with Donald any day!
