New changes, going into 2024

Hello everyone! Felis here.

...Whew.

It's been a long year.

I'm sorry I don't have art to accompany this post, but I've been a bit dead (not that I have enough followers atm for anyone to give much of a damn, hah-) buuuut since circumstances might be changing soon with a bit of luck, maybe I can update more in the future. We'll see!

Lots has happened this year. Rekindled old friendships and tried to repair others, found a special someone, got a nice job, got a kitten, got (temporarily) kicked out, god knows what else. It's a blur, and it's hard to say if it's been positive or negative, but it's another year gone by that's changed me a lot. Hopefully for the better.

I know New Year's Resolutions tend to be a little bullshit, but honestly? I just hope I can be better in the coming year. Kinder, more considerate to others and myself, (more productive-) and maybe a bit more confident. I hope the same for everyone else. The world is a bit of a shitshow these days, but that doesn't mean we have to be!

For the few people who were aware of my existence previously, I have changed my URL and such. Mostly because having a fresh name and look might help be feel a bit more productive, since everytime I looked at my blog I saw a post from when I was 17 and in college suffering from depression, lmao- not great on the psyche.

y'all i am in agony rn today's been so garbage-

First I couldn't sleep last night because i found a nest of a n t s in my room and my parents told me to just spray them with the bathroom cleaner we use for the shower. long story short, it smelled like bleach and it gave me a headache that's persisted to this afternoon-

and now i think the bleach just made me hella sick because i've been randomly falling asleep all day and and now my stomach hates me in a number of ways and i was in the bathroom crying in pain for like an hour i stg i want to cry, die, or both, i feel like legit garbage-

i wanted to draw and write for a friend today but i guess life said 'no fuck you' today :(

Haha man I do love that my dad is putting down the dog that's been there since I was 3, and when I suggest taking off work just so I can mourn/because I damn well know I won't be able to focus on anything, I swear it's so funny how that sympathy disappears so quick-

Goes from "Oh I'm so sorry sweetie pls don't cry" to "Yeah no you aren't taking off work, I can take her to the shelter another day when you aren't working if that's better" (no? I'm still going to be upset, like the emotions do not change just because the date does, wtf-)

and also mmm my mom really be guilt-tripping like "oh well I told you if you wanted to keep her alive you'd have taken care of her better" or some shit like ah yes, thank you, this is lovely to hear, I don't hate myself more at all now-

I know she's an old dog, like she's deaf and blind and constantly wheezing and I know it's better for her this way, but I am so damn tired and this just feels like a final straw

I stg Genshin, my friends, and my kitten are the only things keeping me stable rn

At least I have the weekend off, maybe I can actually create some content or something for this blog-

holy shit my dad is going to get my kitten killed

#so #I just got a kitten a few days ago #her name is pepita and she is an angel #but he keeps taking our VERY LARGE DOG (German Shorthair Pointer) into my room (where she stays w/ the door shut) to meet her #or taking pepita to the living room to try and introduce them #...and at first it was a bit funny because he was so scared of her and the size difference was kinda cute #but now he's getting 'more comfortable' with her and at the end of today's little 'session' he started to get nippy and bitey #and considering this little bastard is a hunting dog #i am scared as hell that my dad or brother is going to try and have a 'play date' between my baby kitten (who's less than 12 weeks old) #and this big ass dog that's literally trained to hunt small animals and could hurt her so easily by accident #...i'm scared #if i come home from work and my baby is dead i'm going to lose my shit

Spicy-brained friends, I would like to propose an update to the very useful ‘if you hate everyone, eat, if everyone hates you, sleep, and if you hate yourself, shower’ mantra to live by

Have you suddenly become a petty, hateful little gremlin who thinks people should face the firing squad for (checks notes) leaving teabags on the counter, breathing loudly, or daring to exist in the same space as you? Perhaps mundane and reasonable requests like ‘hey, we agreed to hang out now, let’s hang out’ make you want to scream and move to a yurt in the woods.

You. Are. Overstimulated.

People talk a lot about being overstimulated, and the physical/mental effects of it. What I haven’t seen is people talking about what it does emotionally, and it took me an embarassingly long time to link up those nitpicky, resentful emotions with the state of overstimulation/meltdown/shutdown.

These feelings do not mean that you’re a bad person! They probably aren’t how you actually feel about the people around you. They probably do mean that your nervous system is at its absolute limit and any request/demand/stimulus is Too Much and taking you into fight or flight territory.

Go lie down in a dark room for an hour, or find somewhere safe and familiar to stim for a bit. If it’s happening a lot, schedule yourself regular low-stimulation shutdown time

Signed: someone who moved in with their nearest and dearest only to have a massive crisis of faith about Suddenly Hating All of Them. I don’t hate them, it’s just overstimulating living with people. If I can spare anyone else a similar 9 months of suspecting that they may actually be a bit of a shit person, then this post is worth it!

#normally I don't mind at all (because I sing along to the radio all the time lol) and it can be super fun! #...but- I mean- I don't know how to say this without sounding like a total bitch- #...I only mind it if the person is doing like- a shitposty way of singing- #you know the kind #the screeching 'meme' level kind of singing along- #which can be okay depending on the song SOMETIMES unless I'm not in the mood for it or if I'm driving #because sensory issues are shit and I can't focus if people/noise around me is too loud #but for real if someone wants to sing with me and I like them/their voice then hell YES pls sing with me and my radio- #at least that means they're like- comfy enough around me to be able to sing- I personally only sing for people I'm close with TwT
