Magic Inc by Martha Carr, Michael Anderle
MC: Fran Jackson
Oh look, same authors from a few reads ago! Or two. This is book 1/8 in The Evermores Chronicles, 314 pages. And no, I had no idea in what I was jumping into; who cares reading summaries?
Francesca, or Fran, likes to have ideas, likes to implement them, likes to try – however, her employers are never into taking her ideas to hatch, and with the events not going where she wants them, she quits her Silicon Valley job, and goes back to her magical world.
While there, she meets new people, she plans a new route, gets herself a new business and tries to create new flashy things to – well; she's about to gather attention, but the bad guys are after mirrors of power, especially hers. So, watch this girl dodge "bullets" while trying to grow a company. Watch this girl try to keep her mouth shut, and fail a couple of times. Watch this story and its many POVs: there will be mystery, villains and reformed good guys and girls.
There's more to the story, and the big bad is loose. And the Evermores are here, answers will probably make themselves known on the following books, but not much on this one; but until then, see you all on the next book!

From the Dust by AR Colbert
MC: Claren Greenwood
Wow, my Kindle is getting empty — 7 books left (if I counted it right, that is), but let's talk about this one; book 1/5 in Ember Society, with a typical reading time of 4h (sharp), 323 pages. Which flown by too fast.
Oh me likey — right off the bat, I loved Raf. I also kinda liked the guy spotting Claren on her aptitude test, but like doesn't mean trust, on this guy in particular. I also liked Felix. I loved Cato, he was easy to like. Too bad he died, but his death brings light to something far sinister. But damn, this was one hell of a shot, this paragraph – damn, to the point like I don't even wanna talk more on it. Not true tho.
Claren's naivety or empathy will not lead her wrong; sometimes to get to the truth, one needs to go through the lies. And the pain. Claren is about to lose everything she holds dear. But Claren is sure to find friends in weird and higher places.
This book reminded me of one of the dystopian book I read long ago, where the outside had more humanity than the dictatorship within. But I'm curious to see what happens next (hopefully soon, but the list is bigger now, right?). I also want Claren and Raf to explore their feelings. I also want to know what's next. I want.
Well, off to the next book.
ps: I know this review is shallow, but I have deep feelings from this book. Look, I have it 4 stars on Amazon/Goodreads that's practically praise of the highest realms!!!

MC: Winland Underwood
Let's go, without reading any summaries but glancing long enough on the About This Book card/tab on Kindle, the non surprise is here, book 1/8 In the Chronicles of Winland Underwood, with a 5h55m typical reading time, and 296 pages. And I was naughty, so I began reading while Kindle was connected to power (the battery is shit already, so let's embrace chaos completely).
Leading a group of refugees toward a ghost town was probably the best decision Winland ever made. The camaraderie between all characters was refreshing. The humor was outright crazy but welcomed, and the sobering danger Winland was in, balanced all out. The multiple POVs from all characters were a nice touch. From evil to good, from heart to tree; everyone had a voice. The last page, a hunter is now after Winland. Will their home remain, or the refugees will have to scatter again? Or will this hunter open his eyes? I don't know. I just know that THIS volume had everything. Even a battle of power and a crimson heart.
This review seems to be all over the place, yes? But hey – it's midnight. I ain't got the time, my muse is asleep, and this whole wall of text is all "matter of fact".
Off I go towards a new book. Bye.

MC: Brayden Moretti and Willow Thompson-Davies
Well, while my last review could be read as a standalone and had no mention of a second book or series in the "About this Book" on Kindle; this one had way too many. Think Midnight Breed by Lara Adrian, many. Yup, Book 1/13 in Moretti Blood Brothers Romance with a typical time to read of 5h29m, 345 pages. All this info may or may not be a carbon copy on Goodreads. And I'm one book less on my kindle. Also, it was a freebie. Also, started at 11pm on a Sunday and ended at 8:48pm the next day, so, let's hit the review, shall we?
If you expect 99% sex scenes, this book is for you. If you want immersive plot and whatnot, you'll be lacking a few spots. This book, for the most part, felt like a PornHub auto play (do they have this feat?), with some ads thrown in (aka actual plot and information). It was easy to like Willow, the MC. But we barely had a bigger scoop into her life, except from one friend that will probably be on book 2, with Craig. Besides that, we only know she's a freelancer who WFH. Brayden has that alpha nonsense going on, that may drive you insane, a tad likable but boy knows how to not communicate very well, especially when breaking the news to a human mate that vampires are real and that she must choose him and turn, or choose herself and forget all about everything while missing a piece of the Love Puzzle.
The book has a lot of red flags as, "this doesn't make any sense", " 'if' what? Is there a page missing", and many other thoughts like these. And no, while I understand the supernatural 18+ types of stories, it shouldn't come as a surprise that these two fall in love in under two days, but I must mention just for the sake of informing. I did shed a tear in the end tho; just wow. I didn't see that twist coming, guess I'm overflown with sex scenes, it took a while to register the nonsense. I'll leave you to judge this yourself, while I'm off to the next book. May read the sneak peek for volume two before than, but it's almost 9pm and I need my dinner. See you later, bookworms!

MC: Dilia, Cort
Alright, my next read is, apparently, a mix between Avatar and Shadow and Bone, til this day I haven't been able to watch Avatar in its totality, but I did love Shadow and Bone, and yes – was devastated when Netflix cut that lovely show off. It had potential; but I feel nothing more for it. Saving Aran according to Kindle About this Book tab doesn't show it being part of a series, so, we can all breathe a bit, with its typical time to read as 9h25m, 471 pages. I ended it on Sunday (Feb18,10:35pm) night after postponing the end serval times.
"Redemption for a ravaged planet", says on the cover. Let's jump right to it, shall we?
The moment I read that the humans harvested the florets and sold the wood for much more than necessary, the idea spark that were no more trees on earth and thus, destruction of other planets became a thing for profit. And knowing there was uncharted territory still, one holding more connection to the planet itself, and more people willing to protect and serve it, instead of themselves; I was like, "damn, the fight as old as time is here". And so, that's the story in a nutshell. With adventure, loyalty, purpose, spiritual awakening and love.
Saving Aran tells the story of Cort, a young boy living in the city of his home planet, studying to get himself a nice job, to visit Earth one day, alongside his best friend, Dilia. One day, Dilia goes missing, she ends up being sold to an alien commander, for services. Cort tries to rescue her, but ends up arrested and on queue for execution. But he'll find a friend there, and together they will escape. And this friend is about to lead Cort to his destiny. Cort will do anything as long as it helps him rescue Dilia. A new adventure awakens for Cort, while Dilia leans heavily into healing while cutting the advantages of the one who bought her. No fret, this dystopian story will not go into the rape/sex it portrays by payment /ownership etc. there's too much going on, and too much wonder to see. At times the book was too much, nerve-wrecking to the point of needing some time off but the hunger sitting at the edge-of-the-seat needed to be satiated. And oh, it will. Cort is about to save his planet, it will end abruptly but this book certainly can be read as a standalone, but it does have a book two. Perhaps even some family ties as promised by the author at the end page.
I'll bid this story farewell, and I'm off to the next one. And yes, the next book is on my to-read list. Again, this list is becoming too long for my liking. I ought to have the dough and the time for all of these stories.

MC: Ruth Costello
Slightly bigger book from my previously read and reviewed on, but also part of a series. Duh. This is book 1/4 in Vampire Mafia Monsters. Typical time to read is about 5h17m, 318 pages. Still ended it before the day was over. But let me tell you, it was fast — doesn't mean it was excellent.
Ok, it's not that I didn't like it, the premise was good, but I thought the plot was all over the place with far too many players going for the kill, and too much mystery that lead nowhere for a good while, even tho there were questions answered, some were left hanging in the air. I read the sneak peek for the next book and I felt more lost than the tv show, Lost. But anyway.
Ruth is the daughter of a very rich business man, and she's wanting to clear the slate, clear the dust, and make her dad's business legit when the time comes for her to take the reigns. But not before some very heavy stuff happens. Too many people wanting a piece of the pie. Too many supernatural people present: wolf, vampire, fae – everything was a mix and match that left you dizzy. Ruth was portrait as both ruthless and naive, it wasn't a balanced combo, to be honest. But I shrugged it off. Too many roaches to deal with (memorize about, and you all know I suck at that). But please watch Ruth fall for a unknown vampire, on their first night. Watch Ruth uncover some things. Watch Ruth face the FBI, a hacker, and a crazy nurse that I'm starting to feel like she might have helped on speeding the demise of her father. But I can be wrong.
I don't have much to say after this; if you like crazy plots this is for you. It's a 18+ story, but the actual action is about 86% into the book. Before then, it's just the story of a woman trying to gain her bearings while everyone else tries to undermine her. And here I'm going into my next read, bye!

MC: Hailey; Terrin, Adrian, Sciro
It shouldn't come as a surprise as my next read being part of a series, right? Book 1/3 in Thornbriar Academy Series. With a typical time of 2h14m, 168 pages – it was fast. It took long-ish cause allergy attacks are still a thing unfortunately. Remember that the book info comes with the Kindle, that's my reference; not Goodreads. There, things might be quite different. Just a reminder.
Hailey was kidnapped as a child. Taken to a trafficking organization. She meets a man that helps her escape in a way and takes her a school for shifters believing she's one thing. She gets there and gets herself some male attention and mean girls vibe from some, well, girls.
This multiple POV story will entertain at one point but you gotta accept how slow build this world is. If you like stories where character growth and story build and world build are walking alongside with ease, this ain't for you. It's both slow and fast, but also with very little answers. It is entertaining. Think of this as a 38min episode on TV when there are too many things happening, but make sure to accept the time passing by. Like, a month. And yes, apparently, this shifter story people only shift when they are eighteen, and our MC just had her first shift, and she believes she's about to lose her mind. But she also likes the friends (all boys) she's befriended. By the end of the book she ends up mated to two guys she's slept with. Which starts to unveil the secrets of her existence she's starting to fear. And the end.
The fastest 168 pages of my life and my hands are hurting typing and holding this tiny phone. So, I bid you farewell and see you all on the next book

MC: Serafine, Jarom, Alerik, Eike
This dystopian shifters romance is book 1/4 in Cursed Shifters series. Not that long in pages, 279 of them, but its typical reading time is about 5h35m. Not that I'm complaining, but I'm a bit fucked in the head by starting this book when my kindle isn't even at 100% (it was around 8% on V-Day's afternoon when I was reading the previous book, also about magic), but at 30% with the WiFi on. And yes, I'm typing this on a tiny phone. The review is posted mainly cause I got a hand on a desktop I could use. So, yay, this is seeing the light of day! Ps: I managed to finish reading this despite my allergy attacks that often made me read the same line 10x.
Technology hungry scientists in 21st century end up discovering a dimension that supposed to have made life greater, instead what came through this veil, rift, were fae; their mere presence destroyed the very fabric of technology, and dumped the tech fanatics into a frenzy – according to their story. This story tells the events of what happens a thousand years later. Just a background story, that tech died and humans were back to Middle Ages, alongside humans and fae. The Fae King issued a prophecy of The Six, and they would rule the human world while the fae returned to their side and the rift was closed. Except, not all made back. And this is their story.
Serafine was told her whole life that her mother sold her to a tyrant for a few coins. She's hated her mother for twenty years. She's been tortured for twenty years. Until one day she's in charge of fetching an item during a storm. She never makes there, but she ends up encountering her fate. 3 of them. 3 wolf shifters. I placed them on MC, but they are only connected to it, there's no POV other than Serafine's. With the help of her to-be mates and a pure magical being, she uncovers great power. She even gets her prison, she even gets the men. She also kinda starts a war.
By the end, a friend is missing and she knows the enemy will come to shifter wolf territory soon. And then the sneak peek, and the next main 3 men will be dragons. Me love some dragons. And yes, next book is on my to-read list already. Wallet will be on the ready. So will my lotto ticket cause at this point I'll need to be loaded to afford all.
Onto the next book!

MC: Thora Lumin
As you might recall from my last review, I'm typing these reviews on a much older phone, that lags in a different way (cause the keyboard on a iPhone 5 is worse than the one on a iPhone 6s+). So, I'm sorry for any other errors, cause the screen is also smaller and I ain't have the patience.
This book has a typical reading time of 5h31m, 276 pages. It's book 1/3 in A Conspiracy of Witches series. I may add, the information I gather can be wrong compared to Goodreads, it has happened before, so -- don't come for my neck later saying it was book 2 not 1 or whatever from other authors and series. Thank you very much.
Onto the review, but first, letting you know this book ended right on time for dinner at 8:40pm on a chilly Wednesday (14).
If you're looking for a nice world building, a piece of mystery and several puzzles that assemble in such a harmonious way, you can barely feel it locking in place, this is for you.
The prophecy is alive when Kieran don't finish the job long ago. He's the bad guy, but there's also a layer that tells us he may not be; circumstances and all, that is. Or maybe, simply, because there's more to unveil.
Thora (which I read Thor for a good part of the book, ain't that cool?) is a Phoenix, she's a witch, or a Conduit, and her power is basically, you know, FIRE. Ironic considering her past. She has an aversion to touch, a bestie (which she leaves behind, one I'm cheering to be safe) and a Disney princess aura by having a BFF bird, a familiar. Thora is thrust into a world when someone tries to kill her, she's a smart cookie though, and she asks questions, so – she will put the puzzle together for herself and you (the reader).
You might get emotional at a 300yo birthday party and then YOU will start to put a different, more romantic, puzzle together. Even if it's only present at the very end or more likely, the next volume. Which speaking of, it's already on my to-read list. The whole trilogy that is.
And yes, that's all there's to the review. I won't say anything else, but the WITCHES ARE LOOSE IN THE WORLD.
The end.

MC: Darius and Nell
Ha, if I had actually looked around, I’d have weaved a double read on Nina Lane instead of having a supernatural read in between. But meh, this is my next read, and its typical time is about 7h57m, 398 pages. Book 1/3 in The Birdsong Trilogy. You might have noticed that I haven’t posted the reviews as it happened a couple of books back — my storage is much shorter than before and I now can’t save any pictures, much less copy and paste a full review. I should’ve just posted a new entry to the blog, but that’s just empty promises, and since I have already broken the, “I’ll keep posting the covers as I finish reading to keep the timeline intact”, I might as well embrace chaos. Oops.
For starters, I ended this book around 9:20pm on a rainy Tuesday night (13/Feb), typed this review on my very old, less lagging iPhone 5. But now I have a problem hitting the right keys. Oh well;
Nell is a 18y going through her senior year (due to personal shit, she's an year older than everyone), she's reserved, quiet, not many friends (none at all). It's just her and her dad against the world. However, her world changes immensely when a man she can't recognize, but knows, returns.
Uncle Darius (that I kept reading as Dare, the whole 300-some pages), a renowned war photographer who has taken the profession to teach at the high school Nell goes to. His demons are around, he's teaching, he's writing a book. But damn, something has changed.
Now Nell sees her uncle (which ain't uncle at all, it's her dads oldest friend) with a different lens. He helps her find herself, but as you can piece together, one would think the author had the hots for a much older TEACHER at one point in her life, and there might be sparks flying. Well, if you shake the age-gap in this romance, go right ahead. At least Darius is self-aware enough to call himself a pervert. I, on the other hand, decided to read Nell as a thirty-something who couldn't finish school. The age-gap was just too big for me. So, allow me to live in this bubble PLEASE FOR EVERYTHING THATS HOLLLLYYY.
However, this book will provide you the much needed growth of the main characters, and you will cheer their achievements. So, I'm choosing to look at it clinically, and send kudos to this 18yo for finally coming into herself, when she thought the stakes were against her. That the unknown must not have far more power than herself.
Also, I could see a few more relationships blossoming as the book went on (like Fren and her dad, like Sam and Clover, and maybe -- perhaps -- what's his name??? Forgot, but the one who calls her Nell like bell; but seeing as the love of her life is 20y her senior, this probably won't go anywhere, even tho it would be healthier), and no -- her dad ain't aware of his best friend having the hots for his daughter. But maybe someone else might now. Still unclear.
If I pick volume two, I'll turn Nelly into a 99yo lady so I can stomach the whole age-gap of 20y easily. Or maybe focus on development/growth, which are the things I loved about this book; but until then, I have a few more downloads to mark as read on my Kindle and a wallet being not so open about it. Until then, catch you in the next book

MC: Piper
I am writing this review for the second time, cause apparently I clicked done on Notes, but it didn’t save a hell of a lot of words and thoughts and when I checked, BOOM — so I’m doing this a second time, but without all of my muses present. I’m just tired. Typical reading time for this bad boy was about 3h51m. 334 pages. It’s book 1/6 in Magic Wars.
What happens when magic turns real to everyone in the world? When and where the rich, they being human or wolf, vampire, demon, witches rule the world? When 16 year olds wants power and almost a decade later they reap what they sow, somehow? Well, this is the story of Piper. It’s complex and complicated and a whole lot of plot twists you might have seen coming and others leaving you surprised. What happens when you find yourself somewhat linked to two demons, befriended a witch, realizing what you are, but still hating everything? Well, that’s Piper, Lucifer, Ronan and Nathalie story. They are the main characters propelling the turn of pages that leaves you wanting more answers and less questions. But hey, at least you see a demon realizing his short-comings at the end. And many more secrets uncovered.
Sweet, but onto the next one. And yes, I marked as to read the next volume. You know the drill, when the wallet allows (and I still have a few more titles to go through before I feel the need to open said wallet).

MC: Aria Prescott and Hunter Armstrong
Bliss Cove series begins with the story of Aria and Hunter. With a typical reading time of 4h55min, book 2/5 in Bliss Cove. I’m no strange to Nina Lane but I must admit it’s been FOREVER since I last read one of her books. I also had to write this review even before turning the first page, cause my battery died at 8%. Yup, I had to wait. I only had time to write this into with the main characters name and take a breather. At least I baked a cake while waiting. And listened to some music. And died a bit cause hot as fuck!
After finishing this book I remember why I like Nina Lane, she’s an author that allows growth, compassion, complex developments and a lot of communication. Which lacks in so many books, but it’s ever present with hers. Even when the characters are struggling with fears, the communication is there.
This book was no different when a business corporate shows up on a small Californian coastal town to seek the dream of purchasing the locals business vendor to create something more in its place. This is Hunter, who has a reputation of sealing deals with a track record that would make you drool; it also doesn’t hurt that he’s handsome and probed to help cat ladies retrieve their pussycats.
Aria is a woman that’s back to her hometown, managed to get herself a business and take care of cats. She’s the lady that’s about to adopt the heart of the Hunter, no pun intended, with being herself and opening up when their encounter turns into love.
The timeline is not absolute nonsense. It’s a months time, and thankfully no one ends up married just yet. But there are a ton of characters that are laying the ground for the next books follow.
ps; this is my third time writing this review, and it’s not making the plot its justice. Notes app keep telling me it lacks storage and it doesn’t save anything. The app crashes. I lose it all.

Song of the Wolf by E.J. Powell
MC: Chanteloup
Last shorty of the whole book (Shifter Time: A Limited Edition Paranormal Romance and Urban Fantasy Collection) is sitting at 98% with 26 minutes left, with a feel good mount of chapters, but still too short.
The beginning of this book is alright doom and gloom, to be honest. Chanteloup is an offering sacrifice to a mountain for fucks sake. But don’t fret; she apparently turns into a wolf, it is after all a shapeshifter story. She meets mountain, a man but also something more. He says she belongs to him for forever. And the book ends. Seriously, WHAT are these shorties?!? And yes, this is my review. The end.

Vanishing Act by Andra Dill
Ok, my loves, this is almost the last story in Shifter Time: A Limited Edition Paranormal Romance and Urban Fantasy Collection (I think, I think that’s the full title of this book bundle). 16 -1 stories. One hell of a lot of pages. And one hell of a lot of low expectation being either over and/or underwhelming. This story sits at 96%, 54min left in book. I also had zero expectations. I just went for the price of ending this long book under a week or so. Lucky for me, I do have more books to read after that (I think 5 more), but I have also completed the already edit challenge on goodreads, and I’ll leave it at that. This book, sadly, couldn’t find a cover, so — you’ll have a very old art u made with very old logos of mine to persuade you into clicking on it. This review won’t be available on Goodreads, cause I couldn’t find it there either (maybe it’s under a different title, but I have little to none patience to find it in such tiny screen — writing this is unnerving as it is).
Kayla is a lynx shifter with a power to sense magic. For about 8 pages (yes, the whole book) she’s tasked with finding the source of trouble for a client. Apparently, client’s deceased husband has been making things disappear. With Kayla’s ability she manages to sense magic items. Her partner Mateo has an idea, she might be 50/50 with. She ends up getting a very out of this world help, and the book ends. Most cliffhanger thing ever. Disliked.

MC: Callius Falk and Winifred Castillo
This is book 1 of A Falk Clan Tale, and book whatever number from the bundle I’m reading, it sits at 87% with 3h11m remaining to complete it all. And yeah, it was a pain to write it all with more lagging present. The keyboard at one point, vanished. Hyperventilation was not a nice road to take when the temperature is high as fuck; so, very sorry for any errors but I just don’t have the extra neuron power other than my muse to assist me further. Take what’s next, for what it is.
After almost five centuries locked up fighting for a tyrant, Callius and his brothers are free to go. Their servitude is over. Callius has a to-do list: find a mate, get a castle, and call to them to reunite under the same roof (or something of the kind). Fred is a hard working wolf, she’s struggling to keep a smile on her face with the things that has happened to her in under a week, however, things are about to change when a stranger, she can’t identify what he’s, is right in front of her having the drink of his life. Her included.
Be prepared for the push and pull, and the eye roll when these women (in stories like these) don’t ask questions. It unnerve me because I have journalists for parents, so, this is common sense. To ask around. Not interrogate, just yet, but you know. Let’s not apply logic here, much less pretend we are outraged, but this was the shortest type of courtship I have read in the shifter world. A manner of hours really, then a weeding a week later.
Onto the next one

MC: Serge, Hannah
This bear shifter story sits at 79% with 5h30m left. Steady progress. I can almost taste the end of this book. And yes, I guess u have gotten used to having my expectations lowered with each passing story, cause you just never know if it’s a full story or a very short story, that you have to be careful not to blink, otherwise- BOOM, what? Anyway, into it we go.
If you have been paying attention, this bundle had a story from this author already, and you can find it by simply scrolling a little or just clicking on the author tag below. Well, Ayers is not a name we encounter much, so - I had to visit her goodreads profile just to check if my mind wasn’t playing games. Same author from She-Shifter and the Mate Cake thingy that made me laugh tons, and this alone made my expectations a little higher than usual. Oops. This is the first book in P.O.L.A.R series/novel.
Serge is a bear. Hannah is human. But when they meet, sparks fly and fated mates are brought together. If you like logic being used a little harder during these types of books, you will enjoy this one. Even tho it felt like 3-days story. It’s a prequel, after all.
The mission Serge was in charge of? Oops, forgot to tell you all about it, as much as he did when he met Hannah. His team seems to be a tight group, also, so, when all is said and done, a packaging suggesting relocation for a mission — they are ordered to report in 72h. These polar bears are going to Florida. Bye cold, hello tropics in North America. And it ends there. Shocker, although no cliffhanger, as promised by authors note.

MC: Logan and a lot more.
Okay, let me start by saying that there’s no extra information about this book on Goodreads, and searching Amazon, I found the series it belongs to, Legion Heirs. I did a screenshot of the cover, and that’s the quality of it all, I’ll make certain however long this book truly is to make a review out of it. And yes, wrote this even before turning the titled page, which sits at 71% of the book, with 7h41m left. Let’s dive into it. ps: this review won’t be available on Goodreads, cause I couldn’t find the book — gritting my teeth with this info really. My OCD self is hating this.
If you want a shifter story with a lot of past leaking into the present, this story is for you. If you want a book with multiple POV’s, this book is for you. A warning tho: it was a mix’n’match within the same paragraphs, too many people. A few editing errors, I think. I had trouble getting into the heart of the story, to be honest.
I found this author wanted this book to be more like a TV series with lots of POVs and stories going at the same time, but for me, it was a loss.
JD has a hard time with wolves. Wolves stay in, on, and around their land. Logan is an alpha who needs to shake his butt off and start leading. Xander is his second, and takes a while to learn lessons. Cody is a psychopath, and somewhat dumb, who wanted the power, the land and the woman from the alpha that didn’t seem to want to get anything done. He dies. Blayne is the mate to be, and I honestly thought she was the little finger - like it’s there doing nothing.
I couldn’t connect to any character, and I tried my best. Maybe it’s the style, or maybe I’ve reached my shifter limit and have yet to process the whole thing. We have the POV of a police officer too to make things a little bit more complicated. But hey, the end was nice for the main character and his mate.
On to the next!
(ps: I seem to be having a hard time with commas, everytime I just hit the question mark instead and it’s driving me insane, but I had to add the commas to make this review at least understandable).
