The Shame-Faced Boulder Crab (Calappa pseudopetra) is a large species of rock-mimicking crustacean.

Found in beaches and cliffs, they use their inconspicuous appearance to blend in and patiently wait for prey to approach them. When the moment is right, they strike for the kill.

Due to their heavy exoskeleton, adult C. pseudopetra rarely move during their lifetimes. To avoid expending energy, they will let themselves be pushed by the tide to slowly move. They will only voluntarily leave their hiding spot once, as their final effort, to find a mate.

oh you're in a horror film/book and your phone died/has no bars? how boring. I think phones in horror SHOULD work. they should ding only to have the protagonist check and find nothing. they should get calls from somebody you don't know but is still somehow in your contacts. google maps should lead you to one place, no matter what address you type in.

phones are such a big part of our daily lives, removing them from horror removes the horror from our experience. what if the horror felt like it could happen to you, right here, right now? what if it felt like it was already happening?

In the library I have been reading lots of books about pesticides and related topics. The library's physical print collection skews toward older books, so there are lots of books over 50 years old.

I will share the findings in subsequent reblogs, but for now I'll say this: Filmmakers and novelists working in the most gory, nauseating crevices of the horror genre could never dream something more twisted, disgusting and absolutely blood-curdling as a book about Turfgrass Lawns from the 1960's.

okay americans i gotta ask because as an European i grew up with lots of american shows and cartoons and in a lot of them there was an episode where they give the protags a doll or an egg or a bag of flour or whatever and told them pretend to be its parents or something

#depends. has it been tested for bloodborne pathogens? #if it's clear then absolutely #at my last job in order to get pbmcs for controls in a lot of experiments I would have to go to the university's hospitals blood bank #and fill out a form to get leftover blood filter packs from people who were donating blood after majority was processed #but there was honestly a lot of residual blood left in the bag that was attached to the filter pack #and brother let me tell you the utter urge to sip those things dry like a Capri Sun was So Real #sorry boss yeah I don't know what happened something went wrong during Red cell lysis I guess #no idea why we recovered so few pbmcs. please ignore the completely unrelated and coincidental red stains around my mouth btw #there is something deeply wrong with me perhaps #but I'm not a vampire though #blood #q
