This album is about how two men broke her heart just months apart and how she was quite literally going through a mental breakdown while trying to put on a front while performing for millions of people on a world tour but you wouldn鈥檛 know that because you鈥檙e either so caught up in trying to figure out who each song is about or your so caught up in your hate for her that you鈥檇 rather make fun of her in her most vulnerable, raw, and honest state just to make yourself feel better
everyone needs to reconcile with the fact that taylor actually felt insane and like she should be in an asylum and she actually felt like dying. ofc in hindsight she can see that all of it hyperbolic, but these are not just metaphors. it was true in the moment. she鈥檚 also tired of the public image of a good girl because she inflicted that on herself and that hindered her from growing, and public inflicting this image on her is also hindering her, and she hates that. she wants to make mistakes and learn on her own and she has reconciled with the fact that she鈥檒l have to live with herself and live with regret because she chose to do it. she thinks she鈥檚 fucked up because she is! and she wants the public to see it! (even though now i think she鈥檚 trying to un-fuck herself)
You knew because there is the slightest, almost imperceptible difference of tincture and viscosity between the liquids. You knew because you had done it a hundred times. You gave him the correct medication. Because you are a good nurse.
ANA DE ARMAS as Marta Cabrera in KNIVES OUT (2019) dir. Rian Johnson
I remember seeing a post one time that said it was so terrible how Maria said she was frightened and ran away from a man and the reverend mother told her to go back and sometimes I think about that and get so annoyed... Maria said "I was frightened" and the reverend mother's FIRST reaction was a very frantic and worried "were they unkind to you?" And Maria said no very sincerely and then explained. The reverend mother isn't stupid she knows Maria very well. She knows when she's lying. And even tho the movie never said it specifically (besides Maria's "wicked childhood / miserable youth") in real life she was abused as a child so the reverend mother probably ALSO knows what Maria's trauma responses look like. She ALSO ALSO said that Georg was a "fine and brave man" and was comfortable sending Maria to work for him in the first place so already knew him and his character pretty well too!!! This woman oversees a community of all women including lots of young and confused women trying to escape something (including nazis!!!) and she obviously takes her responsibility seriously and she wouldn't just throw Maria into a potentially abusive situation!!!
