truly, she had no clue what he was going on about. anna had never heard of “london”, hadn’t really done her research on this guy (she hardly ever did, considering her illiteracy) so she didn’t know much about him, but listening to him, she did understand one thing.

the briefest flashback to many, many years ago, she recalled her own mother teaching her the tune that she was often humming. she understood the comfort that it’d bring.

it wasn’t often people found that kind of solace with her...

admittedly, it softened her up to his company. only a bit, but enough to tolerate sharing her space for the time being. the hatchet was slung back over her shoulder as she waved free hand dismissively.

“ get your rest. just start out of the way. “

with that she turned, walking in the general direction of her cabin. her usual soft humming picked back up again soon after.

"Madam Please! You are familiar with my scent enough now, that even I am able to deduce you know it is me when you hurl this axes. I hide behind trees in order to keep myself from being struck, not to stalk." *He pleads with the large Russian Huntress as he removes the hatchet from the trunk of the tree he was hiding behind. He approaches her with her hatchet in hand, holding it out for her to retrieve from his grasp.* "Whether it is a test or a game you enjoy playing, please do not think of me such as one would think of another white masked stalker.. the smaller one. Not the large one."

“ don’t feel so special, i do that to everyone. your head’s still on your body, right? “

it wasn’t that anna was going it out of malice per se, it was just a bad habit on her end. the reflex to attack anything that crept up on her overrode any familiarity she might’ve had with it.

besides, she knew he wouldn’t die on the chance that she actually struck him down — which, she didn’t! — so it was no foul to her.

Jackson’s Journal: Entry 4: “Anna” The Huntress

The Huntress is by far the most expert hunter in the realms.. She hunts with precision and her senses rather than with a malicious intent to cause harm. I’ve yet to have a lengthy discussion with her about what made her this way but judging from her lack of social skills and her merciless use of her weapons and strength, this is all she’s known. To Track, to hunt, to kill. I get the sense she isn’t killing for the thrill of it but such as a predator hunts for survival. Though being such a powerful individual herself.. I doubt she’d have little to worry over in surviving here..

First time I’ve met her, she discovered me with her acute sense of smell. I believe my use of cleaning products and soap must have been a foreign smell to her. After a quick dodge of a hatchet, I quickly informed her I am a co-worker and not here to cause harm. She insisted I leave due to her in the middle of supply herself with fire wood from the forest. Her broken English was hard to follow with such a strong Russian accent but after some discussing and.. the threat of a hatchet landing in between my eyes.. I agreed that I would leave immediately if I could purchase some firewood for my own fireplace. She claimed that she desires nothing. I noticed a few candles laying about her realms and asked if she would consider trading some of my candles for some fire wood. After a bit of insisting she accept, she finally caved in and settled on the trade. A handful of scented candles for a bundle of firewood. 

Since then we’ve met regularly to trade. I’ve thought of expanding our trades with me dressing any animal kills she’s acquired but she seems insistent on doing such chores herself. I make sure to keep from offending her.. I’ve seen her spilt the one called Freddy Kruger in half before.. 

She seems to not refer to anyone by their names, instead referring to anyone by appearance. She refers to me as “ Мужчина в высокой шляпе” which I am told means “Man in a Tall Hat”. Truth be told.. I am glad she refers to me as a man. Only a select few earn such a title from someone like Madam Anna. I believe she refers to Frank as.. “Сердитый ребенок”.. which means “Angry child”.

I find Madam Huntress’s Humming to be quite soothing.. when not in a trial of course. I’d take her humming over my Uncle’s screeches to murder, butcher, and kill anytime of anyday… 

Overall.. I believe she is one that could be befriended. If I come to earn her respect, I might be allowed in her realm without having to dodge a hatchet… everytime.. 

.. I know she’s only doing it to scare me! She smirks when she misses and by now knows my scent! Guess she gets a kick out of it..

anna was ALWAYS marked with various scrapes and bruises, both from in and out of trials. they didn’t bother her in the slightest with how tough her skin was, but she’d never mind letting Sally patch her up when offered...

🍐  :    how intelligent is my muse overall?  are they smarter than the average person,  or less than?  are they primarily self-taught,  or did they acquire most of their knowledge in school?  are they more street smart or book smart?  

thoughts of the book her mother would read to her so long ago floated through anna’s head. she had lost it so long ago, but could just barely recall it’s existence...

anna is a bit of a mixed bag. she’s extremely ‘smart’ in the sense of her ability to very quickly adapt to her environment if it’s dependent on her survival — which, i guess, is technically “street” smart — but she’s almost completely illiterate and can barely read, cannot write, and has no understanding of societal norms. she can only read the words found in the children’s book her mother read to her when she was just a child, but she hasn’t had to read in so long it’d be unsurprising if she could no longer remember how. she’s definitely more intelligent than the average person in her own way... she couldn’t tell you the square root of a number but could easily teach you several ways to kill an animal thrice your size.

her lack of conversation skills and general preference for total solitude made anna a pretty terrible candidate for this sort of thing. that and the fact that she spoke no english. why she was open to interaction was a mystery, even (especially?) to herself.

maybe the entity wanted more entertainment from her..? maybe it was a ‘reward’ for being such an accomplished drone for it? who knows.

regardless, it didn’t seem like she had much choice in the matter.

basic muse bio/headcanons below the cut

ANNA.

- goes almost exclusively by “the huntress”, being referred to as “anna” confuses her a bit as she isn’t use to it — though she does respond to it. nicknames like “annie” or “ann” are outright ignored by her if it’s coming from people she doesn’t know/isn’t all that fond of.

- physically around late 20s to early 30s. she doesn’t have a birthday as she doesn’t know what day she was born (and if she did she wouldn’t care anyway), so she doesn’t have an exact age. she is over 7′5 or so with a muscular build.

- sapphic-coded, she displays a heavy positive bias towards women and fem aligned people in general. there are exceptions, but very few of them

- she can understand english but she does not speak it. translations will always be provided when necessary (i am not russian, i will do my best to make translations accurate but mistakes are inevitable with me)

- she behaves motherly - or at least, she attempts to. she cooks, offers trinkets and lullabies to whoever she grows fond of, no matter if they reciprocate or not

- her general lack of social skills makes her.. not the best conversationalist, so she may have odd mannerisms, reactions and speaking patterns when being spoken to. she is used to being alone.
