Late Night Coffee - Laxus Dreyar

The little coffee shop round the corner was not one people visited often. It was pretty small in comparison to the others around but some residents of Fiore saw it as a hidden gem.

Laxus Dreyar was one of these residents. And no, it was not because of the food and drinks served at the shop.

It was because of her.

She was always there, sitting on a barstool, at odd hours of the night scribbling away in her little brown journal with a thoughtful expression on her face.

Laxus was not one to fall in love at first sight. But her smile, her lilting laugh and the lively sparkle in her eye enticed him. It was the reason why he’d be there every night. To talk to her, to hear her honey-like voice and to feel at peace despite the chaotic world around him. It was so weird but every time he had a conversation with her, it felt strangely soothing. He had no idea how a woman he had met all of 4 times had such an effect and long lasting impression on him. Couldn’t say that had ever happened before.

Yet he found himself going back every second night. The presebt day was no exception to this routine He stood in front of the cafe, contemplating whether he should enter.

Would she think he’s stalking her?

Would it come off too creepy?

What if she already had a partner and he was just wasting his time?

The blonde sighed, shaking off his thoughts and walked in. He could act like a regular at the coffee shop without being awkward. After all, that’s what his life had come to at that point.

He sat a couple of seats away from where he knew the girl usually sat — not that he consciously realised that he knew of this — and waited.

And waited.

It had been close to two hours of waiting before the barista, Mary —another person he had become familiar with—came up to him a second time.

“She’s not coming, sugar” The older woman said

“How do you know who exactly I’m waiting for?”

“Because I see the way you look at her every time you both are together here. It’s pretty cute actually” Mary sighed “But I’m pretty sure she’s moved out. Just yesterday, I reckon”

Laxus blinked. Out of all the things that could have happened.

He gave Mary a half smile and left a tip on the table as he left the coffee shop.

“Another one that got away” He chuckled mirthlessly “How’s that for luck?”

Whilst walking back home, his mind replayed the memories of the first time the two actually interacted. It was a month ago but the memory was still fresh as ever.

“You seem to be a late night regular too, huh?” The girl peeked through her long lashes at a blonde-haired boy who had seated himself next to her.

“Spending late nights at a coffee shop is how i unwind and get inspiration. I’m an author, y’know?” She held up her brown notebook.

“Could have guessed that, to be honest” He chuckled and held out a hand “I’m Laxus, nice to meet you”

The girl studied his hand for a second before smiling and shaking it.

“My name’s Delilah. Nice to meet you too”

Unrequited (Part 2) - Gray Fullbuster

“Lillian! Hi! ”

Fairy Tails Ethernano Dragon Slayer turned around at the sound of her name being called.

Juvia smiled at her.

“Yeah, what’s up?” The Slayer blinked. This was the first time the Water Mage had ever acknowledged, let alone even interacted with her.

“I was wondering if you’d like to go on a job with Gray-sama and I? You don’t look like you have anything better to do, if I’m gonna be blunt and the job requires three people” Juvia shrugged.

Juvia could be slightly naïvely straight-to-the-point and mildly mean at times but she was right. Lillian didn’t really have anything better to do. The rest of team Natsu were out helping Sting and Rogue sort out some mundane guild controversy and the rest of the guild was busy doing…whatever they did throughout the day.

Which is why Lillian found herself third wheeling Gray and Juvia on said job.

Though, it could be noted that something was different. Juvia wasn’t as stuck on to Gray as she usually was. In fact, the both of them felt sort of distant somehow.

Like all Dragon Slayers, Lillian had one special heightened sense. Her specific sense was that she could easily sense the emotions, and in a way, the aura between two or more people. And her sense told her something was definitely off today.

While they were walking towards the borders of Magnolia, Juvia slowed her pace so that Lillian and her were walking together and Gray was a few paces ahead.

“Lillian, can we talk?”

“Hm?” Lillian raised a brow. Two interactions in one day? This was news.

“I think…I’ve come to terms with the fact that Gray and I aren’t meant to be together”

This simple statement nearly made Lillian trip over her own two feet.

“What?”

Juvia stared wistfully at the boy walking in front of her and sighed.

“I see the way he looks at you, and how you look at him. You two clearly have something between you”

“Juvia, that’s not-”

Juvia held up a hand and smiled at Lillian.

“I’m not bothered. Seriously. I think part of growing up is learning acceptance and accepting that Gray doesn’t and will never reciprocate my feelings, and will never feel for me the way he feels for you. It stings, to be honest but accepting it will only be better for me in the end, I think. I’m fine, though.”

Lillian gulped as the blue haired mage’s words sunk in. She hung her head, deep in thought. Did Gray really care for her in that way? Had everyone just been feeding the whole Gray-Juvia agenda down her throat when Gray liked Lillian all along?

She didn’t have much time to think deeper into the topic as a huge snake rose from the ground in front of them and the three mages got into battle stance.

“What we’re you thinking?”

Lillian winced as she felt cold fingertips on her cheek.

Her eyes slowly opened, adjusting to the light. Her throat felt like sandpaper and she had a throbbing ache on her waist.

“Oh thank god, you’re up” Gray sighed, removing his hand from her face.

“What-” The Ethernano Dragon Slayer attempted to stand but winced as her legs gave way. Luckily, Gray was able to grab her before she hit the ground.

“What happened is that you threw yourself in front of Juvia and now you’ve got cuts and bruises everywhere. I’ve sent her to go get reinforcements because the job isn’t completed yet and you’re badly injured” The Ice Mage folded his arms over his chest “Again, Lil, what the actual fuck were you thinking?”

“I wasn’t…I think”

Gray scoffed “No shit”

“Why are you so pressed about this?”

“I’m not pressed”

“Yeah sure, that’s why you’re YELLING at me”

“I’m not”

“I don’t get it, why are you so concerned? You know I can handle myself”

“Because I care about you, idiot!” Gray froze as the words left his lips on impulse.

Lillian blinked.

“Say what?”

“I…” The Ice Mage averted his gaze from Lillian “I care about you…and not just as a comrade”

The Ethernano Dragon Slayer felt her cheeks heat up.

“I-uh” She gulped.

“You don’t need to say anything, I don’t expect you to”

“I like you too, Gray. I have for a while now”

There it was. Out in the open. The Dragon Slayer hated being vulnerable in any situation and this was no exception.

A moment of comfortable silence ensued before Lillian spoke up.

“Do you think we should go out to see whether the others have come or…”

“Yeah, I think”

They started moving towards the cave entrance when Gray stopped Lillian.

“Hey” He lightly touched her wrist “When this is over, would you like to go out on a date?”

The girl smiled and leaned up to kiss his cheek, making the normally stoic wizard blush furiously.

“I’d love that”

Wtf is wrong with inexperienced writers doing...... anything?

I saw a post critiquing the tense that inexperienced writers tend to use and, really

So fucking what?

If you're reading this and you write fanfic, you once wrote your very first fic. Maybe you wrote it yesterday. Maybe you wrote it twenty years ago. Maybe you wrote it when you were eight, or maybe you wrote it when you were fifty. (And neither of those numbers are me trying to exaggerate- whatever age you are, it's normal to have a desire to expand on and create more of something you love.)

And what inexperienced writers "tend" to do isn't an issue, either- you can write first, second, third person. You can write past or present tense, you can write entirely in the passive voice. Fuck, if you want, write a fanfic entirely in the present tense! It's okay!

Everyone is inexperienced at one point. There's absolutely nothing wrong with that. It's okay to be inexperienced. Being inexperienced isn't an "issue". The only way you won't gain experience is if you give up- and all too often, inexperienced writers give up because people are just fucking rude.

Sting Eucliffe Character Analysis - Requested

CANON ANALYSIS

one word to describe this man ; COCKY.

but sliightly lesser so after the events of the grand magic games.

sting is definitely sometimes overconfident and arrogant however he does have an insecure side to him, as seen specifically during the alvarez arc. from believing in fighting to win, after the gmg arc, sting has been influenced to fight for his comrades and not just for the sake of that sense of victory. he also has seemingly gotten rid of his sadistic side (displayed when minerva beat lucy). throughout the anime, it’s made clear that he’s developed a caring, empathetic, protective and cheerful nature towards others and also feels a sense of responsibility as the master of his guild.

MY HEADCANONS FOR THEM

in my version of events, rogue becomes guild master instead of sting, i really feel like sting wasn’t fully mentally prepared for the responsibilities and the challenges that come with holding that title.

or maybe both become co-masters, to balance it out?

sting doesn’t like wearing full shirts (like fully covered) simply because he feels hot (temperature wise) in them, so he wears crop tops

a modern au! one is people come up to him randomly on the street and ask if he’s a kpop idol because dude literally looks like one

OH a cute one is that sting has an earring collection for his piercing but the crystalline one was a gift from weisslogia so that’s why he wears that specific one most of the time (fav one tbh)

i think sting either has some sort of adhd or is just hyperactive in general honestly

in my version of events yet again, sting is not natsu 2.0 because he’s taller one natsu is enough

i don’t think i have much for him? more so for rogue honestly, i find him to be much more interesting (don’t @ me i have a thing for broody dark haired emo-ish men)

STING IN LOVE + FRIENDSHIP

since sting is kind of insecure, i think he’s gonna have some form of communication or commitment issues simply because of his negative thoughts (“everyone’s gonna leave me one day etc”)

his love language is definitely words of affirmation

i think he’d be super protective of his loved ones

again, the insecurity plays in with when someone he loves gets hurt, he’d blame himself for not protecting them or not being strong enough to protect themselves

otherwise, this man is quite confident and low-key horny most of the time

ithink he’s like a best-friend type of lover, in the sense that the relationship would be easygoing fun and serious but at the same time unserious if that makes sense

he is, and i know i’ve said this word 25757 times but COCKY however will be the softest, sweetest, most caring boy if he truly loves you.

WHO DO I SHIP THEM WITH?

though i definitely think minerva is attracted to women, stinerva as a ship kinda makes sense to me, it works wayy better than rogue and minerva. stingyu isn’t my cup of tea really.

stings heart yearns for natsu so honorary mention to stingsu here.

as for stingue, i can see the appeal but at the same time they just give me very brotherly vibes and as someone on tumblr mentioned (can’t remember the user) i ship stingue PLATONICALLY in a context that doesn’t stem from homophobia.

sting x gray is a funny crackship honestly.

but overall i don’t think i ship sting (atleast concretely) with anyone really. i forgot to mention in my headcanons but he really just strikes me as either aroace or demisexual/ demiromnatic or JUST simply not actively looking for a relationship or a partner.

PERSONAL OPINION ABOUT THE CHARACTER

it’s not that i dislike sting but i used to find him somewhat annoying and a rip off natsu and in some aspects, i still think the same but his character development was one of the better written ones in the series. personality aside, he’s one of the hottest characters in fairy tail. he’s not my favourite character but he’s not bad either? i just want him to not be natsu 2.0-esque honestly, that’s one thing i cannot get out of my mind.

Hi! Thank you so much for your ask! I was so excited when I saw this ask because Rogue is one of my personal favorites and is just so wonderful and so incredibly underrated. (Also, I'm reading Twin Dragons of Sabertooth right now, so he has definitely been on my mind recently). I'll admit that I've never written about him before, however, so I'm a little nervous...😅 But I'm crossing my fingers that you'll like these headcanons, I've come up with for him.

Rogue Cheney Headcanons

💘 -- Romance

Rogue's romantic devotion runs incredibly deep, and he would not hesitate to die for his beloved if the situation called for it. Despite how deeply and how ardently he loves, however, he often struggles to express how much he cares with his words and can be shy when it comes to expressing his feelings and romantic interest. If he was genuinely interested in pursuing someone romantically, he would likely take on the role of a secret admirer at first: doing small acts of kindness and leaving little, thoughtful gifts for his beloved completely anonymously as a way to show he cared before he grew comfortable and confident enough to confess his affection and romantic intentions.

Rogue practices both asking his beloved out on date and confessing his feelings with Frosh many times before he is even remotely ready to try to actually broach these topics with the one he loves. Frosh is always very encouraging which helps Rogue build the confidence he needs to pursue a relationship with his sweetheart.

Ever since Rogue was separated from Skiadrum, he has had recurring nightmares in which he is running after the dragon. In these dreams, no matter how fast he runs and no matter how close he gets to Skiadrum, he can never reach him. He tries to scream and call out for him--to beg him to come back and not leave him all alone, but he cannot make any sound.

When Rogue was very young, he used to wake up crying from these nightmares, and though their frequency has lessened as he has aged, he will start having them regularly and waking up in tears because of them again in times of intense stress.

hi yesss ikr, i feel like she’s an underrated female character in the series and barely anyone on tumblr posts about her as far as i’ve seen :( but i hope you like whatever i’ve written.

MINERVA ORLAND - Character Analysis (Requested)

CANON ANALYSIS

in the gmg arc, minerva at first is seen as possessing some traits similar to her father. she is calm and confident but also has a sadistic side as seen in the naval battle. minerva is also portrayed as the type of person who would do anything to achieve or get whatever she wanted. minerva also seemingly has a superiority complex. i think these traits were embedded in her because of the cruelty of jiemma during her childhood, like he ingrained the desire for superiority and power and the idea that so-called “weaker mages” are below her into her mind from a young age and i do feel all of this has been hard to unlearn for her.

we do see a considerable change in her personality in the end of the tartaros arc (minus the whole neo minerva thing) and alvarez arc. she is now definitely more self reflective, caring and considerate. she even apologised to kagura and lucy for the way she treated them during the grand magic games and becomes closer to her guild mates.

MY HEADCANONS FOR THEM

minerva is either lesbian, bisexual or pansexual. she does not give me straight vibes in the slightest

it says on the wiki page that she speaks an old and archaic form of japanese but “minerva” is the name for the roman goddess of wisdom and is of latin origin, which is why i will fully believe that this woman is half italian

minerva is also the smartest in the guild, more so than orga, rufus or rogue (i’m sorry sting bbg)

her hyperfixation is makeup. i don’t know where this came from but i can just see her having a big space filled with all types of makeup and see her experimenting

i also think minerva would be really good at history

but i also totally imagine her geeking out to k-dramas with yukino.

MINERVA IN LOVE + FRIENDSHIP

i have nothing against rogue (he is my favourite character yall) or straight ships but i just cannot get with the roguerva ship like y’all ‼️ did you not feel the sexual tension between minerva and erza or yukino

minerva would be a confident but also shy lover. she’s highly insecure of the fact that she was not a good person beforehand (talking about gmg arc and prior) and does not deserve to be showered with love and affection. her s/o will reassure her but it’s like a voice in her head type of situation. therefore i feel like it’d be really hard for minerva to fully open up to dating unless she knew you really well.

if she was to date someone, it had to be someone really understanding and empathetic. someone mature and not irrational. she would totally be super protective and all but is not great at showing emotions so i think even if she is protective and jealous, she’d suppress her feelings.

i feel like as a friend, she’d be protective as well. but it takes her lesser time to open up to and get comfortable with a friend as compared to a s/o because obviously, dating is scary and minerva sees commitment as something that is formal. so if you are a friend, especially a best friend, get prepared to have your ear talked off.

i will die on this hill but minerva is 100% very very…not insecure but let’s say hesitant, in her relationships because of the negative connotations of her past actions. she fully believes that one day people might abandon her and that freaks her the fuck out. at the same time, she doesn’t like to be vulnerable so not everyone would know about this. but overall, she is a sweetheart and her love language is acts of service. she will never fail to make her s/o or friends feel appreciated.

WHO DO I SHIP THEM WITH?

yukino, kagura (as a crackship) and erza, but mostly yukino because i feel like the dynamic is the best here.

PERSONAL OPINION ABOUT THE CHARACTER

i loved her character development! minerva is actually criminally underrated and i wish we get more of her (not as rogues love interest) in 100yq. she’s also a character i have many headcanons for, and amongst my favourite sabertooth members (the bar is not really high though)

these are the ones off the top of my head but i think i have more lol

- minerva is kind of a tsundere [ok but female tsunderes >>>]

- yukino loves pda while minerva does not

- i can just imagine this being a chaotic ass relationship

- since yukino's a little bit of a nerd, she uses pick up lines that are slightly cheesy and also sort of confusing for minerva, who is not a nerd.

Yukino : your body must be made of oxygen and neon, because you are the One

Minerva :

Minerva : the fuck?

- Minerva relentlessly teasing Yukino

- Minerva literally turns into a tomato the first time yukino cuddles her but slowly gets used to it. She eventually starts telling yukino to "shut up and hold her"

- SO much sexual tension, sting and rogue tell the two to "get a room" about 500 times per mission

- both turning into a baby when they're sick

- minerva constantly calling yukino "babe", making her flustered

- just being such an amazing couple, like everyone is shipping these two [even gajeel]

i think i went overboard 💀💀 but i still have so many more headcanons, this is just such an amazing ship and i can go on for ages about this

Something interesting I thought of but I imagine the dragon slayers use more nature based ways of telling time and direction of travel.

Like if someone asks them the time, they usually run to check the location of the sun.

When traveling, instead of a compass they use the sun. Using the information of where it sets and rises to figure out where they're going.

Just thought it was interesting

A messy random Dragon Slayers headcanon i came up with because exam time is the “perfect” time for my brain to go haywire 🥲👊 part 1 probably

each of the dragon slayers except erik because i couldn’t think of one for him has their own “recharging spot” where they basically recharge their energies. it’s like a rejuvenation spa (?) type of thing but to give a few examples,

for natsu, it could be close to (or knowing him, INSIDE) a volcano

for rogue it could be a dark room or a dark cave (as he feels comfortable with darkness—being a shadow dragon slayer)

wendy would love an open isolated/empty field. like just to lie down there and breathe in the fresh air

not sure what would work for sting and laxus..maybe a brightly lit room?

for gajeel, maybe iron mills or a smithy (where blacksmiths work)

but these are essentially places they go to relax, feel comfortable and feel the most powerful. oh, and no one really knows about these places, apart from the Exceeds, of course.

Dunno if this makes sense honestly, my brain is high key fucked 😭 😭

Fairy tail headcanons of Juvia Lockser with a profoundly deaf female S/O *she only uses sign language to communicate with her peers and her exceed, Sage translates what she said if no-one understood what she said*

S/O had been deaf since birth and her magic is basically..is plant life magic. S/O doesn't think that her rain is gloomy..it is actually refreshing.

Headcanons : Juvia with a profoundly deaf gn! s/o 

ok little preliminary note, despite what people might think based on my previously expressed opinions, I DO NOT HATE JUVIA ‼️ i personally think she’s a sweetheart who has amazing potential but she was nerfed and her personality was basically just…simping over gray. i dislike gruvia but juvia is still amongst one of my fav characters.

s/o would be part of fairy tail and be an Earth Dragon Slayer, which basically means they have the power to control and grow plants—as you said, plant life powers. They are profoundly deaf, uses sign language to communicate and is best friends with Erza and Mirajane (both of whom know sign language)

So when the ex- members of Phantom Lord joined Fairy Tail, s/o was a bit hesitant in opening up to them but Juvia caught their attention because she was the one person who constantly tried to communicate with s/o.

S/o’s exceed, Sage secretly ships them and helps translate what Juvia says to s/o and what s/o says to Juvia

It’s not long before Juvia starts learning sign language as well (with a bit of help from Mira and Sage) to communicate better with s/o also because she has feelings for them

Eventually, s/o plucks up the courage to ask Juvia out on a date and when i tell you Juvia FREAKED

Like she was so excited to finally show s/o what she had learned.

S/o obviously gets impressed at the fact that Juvia took out the time and effort to learn sign language.

It all goes very smoothly from there, Juvia and her s/o are like a best friends couple for sure, balancing out each other perfectly.

Juvia sometimes gets insecure about her powers, especially her ability to conjure up rainstorms (is this canon?)

But s/o finds her powers fascinating but also relaxing because they complement her powers to make plants grow

Juvia will kill ANYONE who dares to underestimate s/o simply due to the fact that they’re deaf

Unrequited - Gray Fullbuster

“Ethernano Dragon’s Roar!”

It was a sunny day in Fiore and as usual, the members of the Fairy Tail guild were having impromptu competitions to find out who held the most power in the guild.

Today’s match was between Gajeel Redfox, the Iron Dragon Slayer and Lilian Ellara, the Ethernano Dragon Slayer.

And boy, was it a chaotic one.

“Iron Dragon’s Lance!”

Gray Fullbuster watched the two Slayers fight, though his focus was only on one of the two.

Lillian swiftly dodged Gajeel’s spell and swiftly launched a counter attack, earning her a yell of approval from the Titania, Erza Scarlett. She was truly a sight to behold when it came to combat.

Gray had always had a crush on Lillian, ever since he had joined the guild. The brunette was an enigma to him. She was sweet, charming and incredibly sassy but in a loveable way. He definitely had feelings for her and suspected she felt the same thanks to listening to the ramblings of a very drunk Cana.

However, there was one issue.

“Gray-sama! Juvia was thinking of going for a walk. Would you like to come along?”

The Ice Make Mage sighed as he turned to face the Water Mage. Juvia had pursued him relentlessly despite him turning her down at multiple occasions. She was stubborn, for sure but it was clear that the other members of Fairy Tail always encouraged her to keep trying because they thought Juvia and Gray made an ideal couple.

“No I-”

Before Gray could answer, Lucy pitched in.

“He’d love to, wouldn’t he?” The Celestial Wizard winked at him and he blinked. Turning back to Juvia, he was about to reject the offer but the look on her face made him agree. He huffed as he put on a jacket.

Why was it so hard for him to just tell Juvia he liked someone else?

With one glance back at Lillian, who was smirking as Gajeel fell to the floor, he walked out of the guild hall with Juvia.

“Guess I underestimated you, pipsqueak” Gajeel groaned as he stood up and Lillian smirked.

She looked around the guild for the one person she wanted to see but he was nowhere to be found.

“Where’s Gray gone off to?” She asked Erza.

“With Julia probably” the Titania sighed dreamily “Young love, am I right?”

“Erza, you’re 19 and those two are 18”

Erza simply rolled her eyes in response.

Lillian bit her lip. Nearly everyone in the guild shipped Gray and Juvia but nobody knew that the Ethernano Dragon slayer had feelings for him too. Well, nobody except Mirajane, who was shooting a warning glance to Lillian at that moment. She had noticed the way Lillian looked at the Ice Mage and simply told her to ‘get over him because Juvia would be a better fit’.

She couldn’t disclose her feelings to anyone else. Not when there was a chance of Gray finding out. Believe it or not, the big bad powerful Dragon Slayer was fearful of rejection. Besides, everyone in the guild felt Juvia would succeed in getting Gray to reciprocate her feelings and by the looks of it, she already had so what was the point?

Maybe they could be together. Maybe not. Maybe Gray even had feelings for her. Or maybe he was with Juvia now. Or maybe he just wasn’t interested in her.

Lillian shook her thoughts off. What was wrong with her? She needed to focus on getting stronger, not focus on one sided romance..what was it called again?

Unrequited love— as her dragon, Zenith would call it.

Erza’s voice suddenly snapped her out of her thoughts.

“I’m going to Sabertooth to meet Frosch, you wanna come with?”

Lillian nodded and followed the redhead.

A distraction could possibly be just what she needed to eliminate her feelings for Gray.
