trying to find the name of this book
The core character comes from Greece to America, and becomes the landlord (possibly builds himself) an apartment complex/or hotel. This business prosperous for a while, though at some point in the book it becomes harder to make ends meet, with a specific detail about residents wanting larger bathtubs, but the old pipes are too narrow to drain that amount of water.
He had three marriages, his last wife has "bedroom eyes" and wants a child, so she holds him with her legs during sex one time for that to happen. His daughter from the (first? second?) marriage has a lot of a rage; a scene where she is in a room and tears a piece of paper in half, quietly, a small act of destruction. Her husband is obese and bulimic. May have been set next to a body of water, though not certain
I think I read it before 2012, not sure the exact place in the US it was set or when it was published
softcover, for adults, medium length, read as a teen no idea where I got it from (certainly not 'assigned' reading)
