From Bland to Green: A Sustainable Branding Journey
Earthy Tones & Origami: Designing an Eco-Friendly Brand Identity
Hey everyone, Iqra Mubiin here, a graphic designer passionate about creating impactful and eco-friendly brands. Today, I want to take you through a fascinating project: transforming Joseph Hogan's brand, ECO² Bureau, into a sustainable and visually stunning entity.
Step 1: Embracing Earth Tones
We began by ditching the old color scheme and opting for a palette inspired by nature itself. Earthy tones like browns, greens, and blues replaced their predecessors, instantly conveying a sense of eco-consciousness. (See the image for a glimpse!)
Step 2: Typography Tailored for Trust
Choosing the right typography is crucial for establishing brand personality. For ECO² Bureau, we selected a combination of fonts that exude both professionalism and a touch of playfulness. Playfair Display lends a touch of elegance, while Lora provides excellent readability. Satisfy adds a hint of whimsy, perfectly complementing the brand's overall message.
Step 3: The Origami Challenge: A Logo Born from Green (Without Being Green!)
Creating a logo that embodies sustainability can be tricky. Joseph's unique request? "A logo that is green, but not actually green." This sparked a flurry of creative ideas. After exploring various concepts, we discovered Joseph's fondness for origami. Through several revisions, we arrived at the final design: a captivating origami formation composed of four colored triangles arranged in a beautiful spiral. Each color has two identical triangles, creating a visually balanced and harmonious logo. (Check out the image to see it in all its glory!)
Step 4: A Symphony of Sustainable Icons
No brand is complete without a suite of icons for online and offline use. We designed a comprehensive icon pack featuring all major social media icons in ECO² Bureau's signature four colors. Each icon comes in three variations: nestled within a filled circle, a stroked circle, and a standalone version. The complete pack boasts an impressive array of icons, including a mountain symbolizing eco-tourism, a telephone for communication, a compost bin for environmental responsibility, and many more. From a delivery van signifying sustainable practices to a globe representing their global reach, each icon reinforces ECO² Bureau's commitment to a greener future. Step 5: The Business Card - A Sustainable Touchpoint
Finally, we crafted a business card that reflects the brand's eco-conscious ethos. The minimalist design aligns perfectly with the overall aesthetic, while the chosen paper stock prioritizes sustainability.
